carapace was just flat 2 damage, but i feel like thats just because rounding renders the variations insignificant

But whatever it is, I have had to frequently pick up teammates who die to fire, who die way more than is necessary while I was doing this event

Survivalist as an aura should never have been in the game without other classes having their own ammo recoup abilities
The issue with vet isnt that it isnt as strong as other classes, its that if it isnt running the "meta build" it falls behind.
Ogryn / Psyker / Arbites have SIGNIFICANTLY more build variety than Vet and Zealot, that doesnt mean they are stronger classes... it means they are better designed classes
i just did a hav40 melee psyker run with tac axe gaze assail with 3 dog arbys

only death was me getting double bursted

veteran has two active toughness regen on first top node
one kill for 5% and one kill only headshot for 15%
which is does lacking survivability
Vet has god tier ammo and nade regen + arguably the strongest ability in the game
and it get boring playing two of variant build
i already had machine gun graia nade shredder regen VoC
Vet also has access to DS4 and Plasma
and plasma infil nade regen kark
I don't go do ds4 shredder nade plasma build, it sound like average man build

Noobs don't dodge. Noobs do stagger. Therefore, its easier to use Arbites better than Zealot even though it has a lower ceiling.

yeah, the issue people had with vet at launch is the stealth option just let them stand in a corner or on a pile of boxes and leisurely shoot things while everyone else drowned in the extra bodies piling on them, infiltrate was mean to replace it by making stealth and shooting seperate but it was just abusable differently
honestly id be happy if stealth in the vet tree was just one node that gives you 5 seconds of -50% threat when aiming down sights, with perhaps a 10s cooldown or something

@frank basin While of course a veteran will have an easier time to clear out shooters and gunners, it is not your sole responsibility to do so. Everyone should look for that.

psyker, ogryn, arbite, and a good zealot player they deal like all kind threats, and leave veteran just sit back be as sidekick

arbites being a bit overtuned rn will make vet runs feel awkward tbf, theyre so tanky ive noticed a lot of them just kinda wander off and do their own thing rather than try and maintain cohesion, and a lobby of dogs wiping out all the specials and elites before you can will make you feel like youre underperforming when actually the dogs are just rabid
also the ilas i were using is worse spread and recoil on hipfiring
i already knew the dog did every threat, taking care gunners stuff

It's actually better than that because dogs can deal with maulers and ragers too.
You won't automatically get saved, it may take some time before your dog helps you. And that time can be enough to put you in a really bad spot.

ngl i do that occasionally because i learned to be frugal back when people got really pissed about vets eating all the ammo, never had to unlearn it because lasguns have stupidly good ammo economy even without stuff like free critical shots
The last time I even had ammo issues was when I tried to kill a crusher with the vigilant autogun. Didn't realize how many bullets it would take and how small the magazines are.

Veteran is so nice to play with resources, the auto generation grenade talent also makes it so I can fairly often pass on a grenade so someone else can get it. Makes it for more boom all around for everyone

ghost is a self fulfilling prophecy, it needs headshots to activate, and makes it easier to aim for headshots
for personal safety and learning exe stance you can use the Dueling Sword
or if you are really against the power creep, shovel is a fairly safe all around good melee weapon

@unreal nova If you still take the corruption damage, you may survive the hit thanks to True Grit, i would consider you effectively dead since anything at this point will kill you. I consider it better to stack the already higher toughness that the Arbitrator has to protect you against chip damage.

nowadays a whole bunch of things have been reevaluated since the initial reaction, i was an early advocate for weapon specialist being actually useful when people were too hung up on telling themselves you had to be constantly swapping on purpose to use it

I think WS naturally becomes more and more active as you climb difficulties, the game demands that you swap more either to deal with a horde or to push something away, sprint away from danger with a faster weapon and other things. Real mastery is having in the back of your brain that with each swap comes the buffs and taking advantage of them
Recently I started getting the one that replenishes some toughness when you swap and it took me a bit to realize that I could use it to be a little more aggressive

out of all the WS nodes I found that only these two are somewhat impactful imo
the reload one is funny because if you're pistol running you sometimes don't need to reload at all in games
