Pox enemies are known for being filled with several pockets of: worms, pus, necrotic flesh & abscesses. Naturally even if the acid would burn into any of those layers of pockets, it'd cause that layer to fall off or even mix in with it diluting it

Metal is just metal, it's uniform in make and production for the most part on the enemies. So it's consistently eat through it.
