Debating whether to try and run a Shotgun build. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Weapon spec double barrel is always fun

if you're getting instakilled you need to be more aware or not get hit by overheads

Any Vet build I make keeps turning into a melee Vet build and I'm trying to earnestly engage with a ranged focus
skullcrusher and decimator might be worth a try as well

There are exceptions of guardsmen even using autocannons like "Try Again" Brag from Gaunt's Ghosts but those are few and far between

Half way there, Iâve been stuck on auric maelstrom survivor for months because I only play randoms
I did 5 in a row with the modifier of hunting grounds, waves of mutants and waves of bursters.

before the gunner buff, the friends I'd usually have to carry were able to plow through mostly ranged maelstrom. We'd do 3 in a row each time one came up on the board and got them auric survivor easy

In base game it takes like 15m+ to make up for a breakpoint u already get from taking focus target

Okay, what about focused fire?
Potentially 12% extra damage to the tagged (32% up from 20%), and 12% damage after death instead of 7%.
Focussed fire is bad for 2 reasons
Youâre physically not going to have 8 stacks banked often (takes 14s of not tagging)
And it functionally just adds +4.5% damage to redirect fire
Redirect fire is +7.5% damage for 1 point (and actually contributes to some weaponsâ breakpoints)
That extra 4.5% doesnât matter basically ever
we need a bot to post copypastas for plasma dump stat, focused fire, onslaught and longshit

Vetâs only defense advantage over zealot & psyker is that veteran can tank 1 full stalker burst without toughness break
yeah and psyker has more defensive tools than other classes to compensate for the lower hp/toughness anyway

Buthaat's not exactly a skill issue from my side. I usually pull 900k minimum, but with him on a couple of maps I just couldn't. everything died before i got to it!

if u play inferno with a plasma vet the reality is that veteran will tend to snipe any & every thing they can see

well i thought psyker bubbles would be enough but they arent always up and positioned where the team needs it

KTHD makes plasma shut down shooter waves in 2 kill shots
It also makes ranged enemies significantly less accurate

which MK of recon do you guys prefer
for me, 14 fo auric, 6 for havoc
14 has cleave which makes it the best for firing into crowds and cleaving through trash to reach your intended target
however the cleave stops working in havoc, so I use 6 as its the most ammo efficient

not really a must have but it might save your life here or there on high level
then yeah ig 6 is pretty nice too
but currently I only playing damnation and didn't get into havoc stuff yet

practically speaking though, it doesnt really mean much besides if you take onslaught to stack it faster

12 = highest dps (by under 10% or so compared to the others) but worst ammo efficiency
6 = best ammo efficiency, middle dps
14= has cleave, lowest dps (but not by much)
for recons

max for health is 21%, max for toughness is 17%
For main I like 2 health 1 toughness
For havoc Iâm running 2 toughness 1 health
Iâm considering just running my havoc curio set-up for base game (but switch 5% toughness for dockets)

If your infantry lasgun VII gets 2 headshots on flamers, the game tells u 1400 dps but itâs actually 0.275s TTK
If your recon XIV gets 6 headshots on flamers (which is enough for a kill), the game tells u the same 1400dps but itâs actually 0.65s TTK
Thereâs a huge difference between 0.275s and 0.65s lol

U could take 1s to kill a flamer and itâll still tell u 1400dps

since you lost some ways to hit the bp for gunners/ragers by going chs instead of knife
but your crowd control abilities increased (chs is goot vs hordes)
this is why im sprint shooting all the time btw
its actually really accurate at long range
it made the gun click for me since the shitty ads recoil jank was annoying the hell out of me

mobility 60 vs mobility 80 is a very minor difference
first target, on the other hand, is the single biggest influence on your dmg

Mobility is pretty much always the dump stat, unless it has defence then defence is the dump stat. Mobility gives you the maximum dodges you can have at 51% and everything beyond that is just marginal unnoticeable movement bonus. Damage and ammo and stuff is always better to take

I've just been playin ogryn since people say it's trash in havoc for some reason. Didn't notice until now since I do alot of fancy footwork to avoid "avoidable" hits
that's cuz poxwalkers have innate corruption plus havoc's corruption from melee attacks
u end up getting like 55% of their attacks being corruption dmg

I really underestimated the stagger as I don't use it for myself but tried it anyway and it was nice for freeing people from dogs or getting a revive since I didnt have shout or nades to really fill that gap
you really do need that swap speed node too which sucks
as the middle path is so much better, but without the swap speed node it feels awful to use the bp with ws

yeah with localization it works @long bloom you just install it like any other mod. unzip the file, add the folder to your mods folder then add the mod name exactly as the folder is named to your loadtxt
I've still yet to try the heavy sword on vet, is it fun?
On a side note based on what you said: Melee vet is all I really feel like playing. I could, probably, play with the upgraded default career skill or infiltrate... but voice of command and weapon specialist are my go to things for my career and keystone
