This is not a melee build

It’s one I’ve very carefully optimized for breakpoints and still has 2 points to spare (demo team + CQKZ here)

On a melee build u get very similar breakpoints across elites, but horde is faster as u don’t need headtaker stacks to 1 tap bruisers

Since your friends are that new, assuming that yall are starting from some of the lowest levels, this should be just fine up to Malice difficulty if that's where yall end up together. The idea here is that everything that you're fundamentally solid at as player will be transferred to yourself and others just by you playing the game. This one is also assuming that you may end up in melee more often to force coherency bonuses by tethering yourself to teammates.

Any solid all-rounder kind of melee weapon that you have (shovel, rashad axe, p. sword) is going to be carrying whatever damage might be needed for more dangerous targets like elites and monstrosities which you can handle just fine (if you got it like that). I'll just make up something for ranged maybe but overall punchy weapons like revolvers and plasma guns will just do what they're doing on their own at those levels. I'd personally just run my own infantry autogun of choice (whatever used to be called CIAG since they changed names now) and play as solid as I can.

If you're starting out from less gear in inventory at max level, you might be better served flipping between some ranged and melee talents if you care that deeply about it at every step. If you already have some solid weapons though, the ones I mentioned with the exception of power sword it's not leveled and fitted with power cycler 3 or brutal momentum at like...maybe 2 last I played ought to be stable enough.

You don't need crunch to one shot crushers as long as you have a pickaxe or folding shovel

The heavy pickaxe needs those for sure but the lighter ones can do it with the special attack heavy and it's blessing

I really like the Weapon Specialist double barrel setup. What a blast to play. Weaving shotgun blasts into my melee chains, the changeup in positioning between wanting a horde spread in front of me for melee then lined up for the crit cleave on the shotgun, how active it is, ammo efficiency felt good. Favorite vet build so far, I think, and I just carried a run with it.

My only complaint with it is, when it comes to getting snipers and long ranged gunners

I can't do that anymore and my team usually doesn't take care of it

Snipers are easy to kill with it if you can hit their whole body, even if they're far. Gunners are hard to get when they're far tho.

get rid of longshot, tak eopening salvo or kill zone not both, focused fire is rubbish dont take it, take target down! instead so you get stamina back for deadshot. alternatively use the new free points to try and get to onslaught instead
