since you got death spitter, I would go with both barrels, manstopper would be good if you had scattershot as a blessing

both barrels at lvl 4 gives you 70% reload speed after killing an enemy with the alt fire

you can one tap mutants running at you with it

and immediately shot into a horde, or vice versa

Damnation should net you somewhere between 750-1k plasteel per run if you actively grab it. No need to rush weapons in the future if you are running that difficulty regularily. Don't want to brick decent rolled weapons.

And normally stopping at blue is just to see if it's worth the higher plasteel investment (i.e. low likelihood to brick on further upgrades) or to fish for blessings.

However, even if it bricks perks/blessings, but has a good stat distribution (i.e. high all stats except for mobility >51), keep it in your inventory. There's the high chance that the weapon will be recoverable with the upcoming itemization update.

You seem newer to the game though, so try it out and see if you like it. The game even at Auric Damn Maelstrom isn't very challenging once you play for a while, and it takes quite a bit to make a build that actively drags your team down.
