#veteran-class

Right!?!?
But let's not talk about buffing the strongest archetype in the game 💀
Tbh the only qualm you should have is that the image of an axe-toting space mage looks very cursed

I realized that the most common zealot build I run gets to like 135 toughness from tree alone
Lemme use the most ancient of weapons against your skull
75 base, +60 from talent tree
And then I run double toughness curio and get to 180+
Who has the highest base toughness again
Veteran at 100
Ah okay
Yeah they have 2 +25
Can bump that to 210+ with toughness curios
With iron will it's just
Saucy
I think I’m gonna have talent tree stuff all under 1 color, but the individual text of the talent names have a unique background color corresponding to the talent branch
So like
“Longshot” talent
The whole table cell will be the same color as all other talents
But the “longshot” talent name will be blue color (passive talent) and dark red background (sharpshooter)
So there’s less cell colors going on
I think making this document is my version of painting 40k minis
I’ve been using this drip for my veteran
Lucky devil
I use that for my squad leader build
Scion helm
Cadian armor
New Militarum backpack
New pants
VT2 exclusive ones I think
UGgHH I need my PC again
Goodluck
Could grab the speedy revive talent to fully get into that combat medic build
Nah
I know it isn't meta BUT it does feel correct
Leave no one behind is just not great
The fact that it only gives u stun/slow immunity when an ally is downed
So sad
I know but it feel themetatic
It also gives you like movement speed and gives the ally tdr after revive
And like fast revive too. It isn't great but thematic
I name it combat medic cuz idk what else to call it
What did the emperor mean when he made the most meta-viable “medic” playstyle capable of 1 shotting everything
I make builds in a thematic way jfjdjd so I'd probably do that because I'm a nerd
Squad Leader, duh
I try to avoid using the same name for different things
P p f t
Middle branch of talent tree is already called “squad leader”
I call my commando Hive ganger
The main 3 builds I’m planning to cover rn are
Combat medic (plasma)
Bullseye (revolver + weapon specialist)
And an IAG build (haven’t decided name)
Shock trooper/Assault trooper
Spray n pray
Smth cooler
IA IA IA IAAAAAAG IM COOOOOOMING
Moebian Buzzsaw
Shock Trooper goes hard I always liked that
Or you could go Storm Trooper
storm trroper has to be a las build though
Hail of Lead
Forgot about the talent crap
I was considering “hailstorm”
Speaking of branches
Good Sharpshooter build real?
Good sharpshooter build is real
You just hope you don’t run into Warren 6-19 final spawn where 10 maulers walk out of a door behind you
I’m focusing on more well-rounded builds for now
4th would be “scout sniper” for Helbore/headhunter
Essentially I’m prioritizing giving u a build you can take to fight anything the game throws at u
Over giving u more specialized builds that require u to play a certain way
can never go wrong, i run kraks and the mk 10 laspistol
takes care of anything the sword cant
ok darktide doesnt want me to play this morning?
I am rocking one build suggested by other guy here, wanted to know what you think of it
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9b6092fd-bfd0-4650-b999-8dcc45492929/lasgun-5
That’s kejetok’s build right
I don’t recommend efficiency
Lasgun I’d go headhunter + ghost/DA
knife
no wonder this guy uses frags
lacerate
Wait who doesn't use frags?
me i use kraks
lacerate is a bit of an xd moment
what does this even mean
I think the darktide servers are down in OCE
frags to make up for shitty cc from knife
I mean good for you
hi
But frags are you know
the steam just died
Hello there
Kraks aren't bad if your build otherwise has a hole in it
Mk6
Shitty CC
How do I tell you
They are decent tools
i like chainsword and devils over the knives
could never get into using knives
Yeah I use kraks on my stealth ws build because otherwise I have zero good tools against carapace
frags are for big elites spawns
frags are just good in general
you throw 2 of them and everythink died by it self
can't really go wrong with them unless you like, miss or toss 'em at single poxwalkers or smth silly
Knives feel weird to me
fair fair, suppose i havent used frags in a while
i try not to look knife zealots in the eye, unless theyre going down every three seconds
the good ones though, terrifying
Knives are pretty good on all the archetypes to be fair.
I have a really good generalist build and only use the krak as a talent point save
Funny how veteran doesn't really need keystones, but they're a really good bonus
i had extra points for my build so i threw them into focus target because i love more damage
(that and it fits my sort of 'commissar' build)
Yeah the keystones on veteran are alright and not always a big pick. Most of veterans bottom perks are just great
vets having lots of bottom perks checks out.
I use WS for the 20% reload speed, extra bullet when whipping out my revolver and the 20% toughness from switching weapons. When you juggle in a mixed horde makes you really hard to kill.
@gray finch not really sure about +30% reload speed on special kill tho
I call my veteran a zealot lite on occasion because that's what melee vet is. Still extremely good however
Isn't that point better on 50% Toughness DR at 75% toughness and mire
It takes a veteran to become a good zealot
you dont need it but you gotta kill shooter with the last bullet on the chamber to have time to kill another after reload
Stealth WS I have probably has 200% more survivability than some zealot tbf
Stealth WS on top
i took it to be even more tanky while my team trying to get close
You also just chop up hordes
And crushers
Not bosses however
Out of all my builds my Stealth WS has the worse monster damage
steam just comeback yippe
anyway i would recommend ghost no respite for more dmg on moulers for lasgun a1
3 kraks in my pocket:
death
Kraks
When you most definitely don't have the time for that stupid fucking ogryn in your way
hey that's a fun one
actually its steams fault for once
I see
but what ould you take for that determination ?
That one 50% TDR talent
if you gonna get hit ever sure but melee should never be a problem
and stuff that would kill you would just bypass the toughness anyway
It doesn’t mention no ammo so
Honestly it's actually good build that I wanted to find
Just a guy with lasgun
What do you think of using stuff like mk7 shovel on it?
Ok I toyed with it a bit
It’s ok for a few color codes but gets much much harder when I’m dealing with 10+ different color codes
Also word doesn’t seem to allow non-preset Colors for text highlight
Using Nord?
Oof ic
Wb lacerate you've got on the mk6?
Tbf yeah Nord might be harder to use if you’re using color coding a lot
only these available
One way that could work is finding a color for color coding that doesn’t clash with thebackground
And they all look shit
And you just adjust the hue, leave saturation and value alone
Yeeeah
I could try nord for talent tree background code
Prob transitional Colors
But keep text color codes the same
This might help you find colors that match the broader theme
The other thing is that
Nord has a lot of gradient color mixes
Which I kinda don’t want
I want different branches of the talent tree to look immediately distinguishable
Not “oh this shade of grey is squad leader”
Could just take one of the colors
And adjust the hue for the others I guess
If the background color codes are different shades of the same color it’s less visually striking
Like, as cancer as this could be for the eyes
You can immediately tell which is which
Would you be opening to just changing header or sub header colors?
precog never proc since combo no mk6 is heavy+pushattack
Instead of background colors?
Like the talent names’ colors?
Yeah if that’s what the section is representing
Those are also color coded
Blue is passive talent
Red is ability modifier
This is why survivalist is in gold color
Ngl not sure how many people reading your guide will follow that
it's in the first section
finally got a chance to post this
Maybe in ogryn brain but if I’m reading the guide from cover to cover, which I bet most people aren’t, I definitely won’t remember what the colors mean
at least the weapon pages don't have these issues
Most people are prob straight up jumping to the relevant weapon or perk they want info on
hm
yeah for example the psyker guide is crazy long people just check the parts they need
Nah but AI director spammed 20 flamers per second
it was craazy
I did
as an example of how he differentiates
the different types
without making the bg color different
I'm considering just reducing the color codes in general
also
another question i have for you
does the color codes actually matter lol
like which "tree" it's on
what practical value does this info have
to anybody reading it
Yeah that’s prob fine
yea that's why I think I'll just change how the talent section is formatted
thinking of just doing
left tree all the way
middle tree all the way
and discard the talent tree background colors
if someone cares enough to read about the game i dont think theyre gonna be discourgaed from font colors
You can also structure it
Like how the actual tree is structured
With a link to "details"
that is much harder to execute
bottom half is done like that
Ie:
Talent 1
talent2 talent3
Then clicking it links to
Talent3: desc
Or you can just not bother and leave that info unorganized
Cuz most ppl just wanna see builds
And weapon perks/bles
And let ppl ctrl f themselves
Yeah when I was reading the psyker or ogrynomicon I just use the navigation panel on steam to jump to the weapon or perk
I never read the full guide
Yea I’m prob not gonna release it as a pdf
Gonna be view-only word.doc share
So u can actually navigate with headers
That makes sense
I’m not super used to all of word’s features
Easier to reason and update than a PDF
But I still chose it over Google docs because my experience with Google docs is that
Whenever I do more complex edits like charts in tables
does the block resets executor stacks ?
And get to really high word counts
It takes a long time to load stuff
Word doesn’t have it nearly as bad
PDF was just a bandaid solution tbh
Well yeah
Makes sense
Paying for word smh
Why do people just keep pushing and agroing more enemies in front when there is already a horde of maulers and flamers coming from behind?
Trying to speed run auric and wiping
They think if they run fast enough they don't have to fight the horde
Until you hit a crusher pack etc in front and then you get pincered
I like to see Rashad melee vet as elite duelist first horde clearer second
The power of murdering several ragers/shotgunners/maulers at once is a drug nothing can compete with
worth getting for the slaughterer 4 for about 3k from melk?
Yes
IT JUST FUCKING RESET

Super F

Hadron not bricking a weapon🗣🗣
Oh my
weight of fire o_O
I've never even heard of Weight of Fire lol
It’s Onslaught renamed
Ahhhh
It’s Onslaught renamed
I has a moment the other day where I saw Ceaseless Barage for the first time and thought I was tripping
me when i abandon my team to die so i can revive them to feed my savior complex
God that's evil
You know that moment when you play a match and you go down but it's an easy revive but all 3 of your teammates decide the one crusher is more important than your bleeding out teammate.
Shows me for going out of my way to revive them during hectic situations
Pugs are so weird, sometimes it gels so well it feels like a premade. Other times it feels more like pvp than coop lol
I was livid but they were average players.
They weren't bad but they made more mistakes than a good player which lead to them getting downed a handful of times and I usually showed up to help em up.
I go down once and get left to bleed out. It was my mistake but it was because I didn't dodge a sniper.
unless you're in a pre-made where your teammates actively try to kill you by shooting barrels and poxbursters
Gotta meme the homies sometimes
When you get netted like a dipshit and the level 80 ogryn is just spamming m1 on top of you instead of freeing you
Whenever I don't have visual on a burster I will abandon my team because I will not take damage
Yeah its pretty hard to play flawlessly. I remember one time i had to solo a big section coz the other 3 went down and I made it through a hectic fight, one of those flow state moments. Got the 3 people up, they all are like WD, that was awesome. 1 min later i dodged off an edge avoiding a trapper lol
Flow state making your hands shaky
one of my friends plays Damnation with us, level 30+ and decent equipment, we do NOT stand next to him because he doesn't know how to push poxbursters :U
I had the same thing I clutched THREE times in a match and when I was clutching a fourth. I dodged into a wall and got netted
Me about to dodge a net when the infinite mass poxwalker presents himself
I was in another flowstate but then wall
But that's what happens when you bank your entire gameplan on a single player
Do u have the 500 rescue profile frame yet
yeah
There's a 500?
I only thought there was a 1000
1k is for revive
Any chance anyone could help me run an attempt for On Overwatch?
You should include your region when asking for help with penances or use the lfg channels
NA - West
I do, almost exclusively
Of the Helbore lasguns, is the Mk I, II, or III best?
Pretty sure it’s just a matter of preference though the mkiii bayonet is the worst
there we go
faster charge time for each shot fired in a salvo
It had another name before
The Blessing Formerly Known as Onslaught
when did they change the name?
tbf i prefer mk 3 as its a good all rounder
It's pretty good
Just have to change two things
im boutta blast
Yeah Point blank to Surgical, just unsure which Perk to keep over the other
Assume keep maniac and toss Carapace to Flak
Honestly perks might be fine
Is make every shot count still requires 100% accuracy or is it down to 90?
any tips?
don't miss

I recently learned pointblank only goes off of gun butting and not actual melee 😔 so yeah get rid of it
Fatshark moment
Yeah makes it bottom tier
18% crit chance for 2.5 seconds from a gun butt? Actually useless.
Yeah get rid of that one
I was talking about the perks
I'd consider flak because there's a lot more flak based enemies
Is it a gun butt or a gun butt kill?
I think it's just an oversight
They make a lot of those
They just forgor to make it work on melee weapons too
And point blank would be legit the best blessing on agrivolver if it worked with all melee kills
Kill with melee quickswap to 70 percent crit fan
You'd blow your load through those 5 shots too so each one back to back 70% with rending you'll annihilate crushers on like 2 shots and don't get me started on bosses
I still say agri would go from a C perk to a A perk of they added cleave
Zarona stays S
Zarona doesn’t even take 2 only shots without carapace, so that’s perhaps a bit exaggerated
I can kill a crusher with four body shots with agri. I think it just does better crit damage plus it shoots faster
Zarona takes 3 headshots with hand cannon and surgical on my zealot
No carapace perk
Then again I built my vet/psyker to be crit monsters.
Agri I think has better finesse and crit damage than zorana at worse cleave
If built around the weapon it fucks up all armored enemies and specialist. It can delete bosses too.
It's just the fucking cleave that ruins it
And it's also close to mid ranged weapon
ok i have a few 380 lucius 2's what do i put on this gun? does anyone who looks into numbers stuff know whats optimal?
check the latest pinned message
this was the most brutal maelstrom of my life
HOMIE CARRIED 🗣🗣🗣
Ah. I feel that.
Had a maelstrom where everyone left and I was basically the only original person left
Agri has a slightly better multi for crits at 2.37~ to flak, as opposed to zarona with 2.27~. The cost is obviously lower base damage per shot and cleave as you've noticed.
I still find it quite capable of killing things quick maybe because how fast it shoots and reloads which i believe works with the weapon until you just empty a clip into the back of your friends skull
The issue with agri is more its accuracy
The shots go quite wide and past a certain point it becomes a massive problem while fanning
Past 15m you start being unable to hit things reliably
I’d say mid range is 15-30
Or maybe 15-25
15 used to be the cutoff for “close” range but fartshark changed it to 8
Strangely the agri revolver has slightly less weakspot multi to flak than the zarona
Wild. Not that it matters I'm able to one tap them regardless just wild to think of
You'd assume for lower damage and bad range/cleave they'd opt for higher crit, and finesse modier than zorana across the board
the zarona does need nerfing tbf so maybe that won't hold true once balance patches start happening
In about 2 years or so maybe
but yea it's kinda odd they didn't tweak that stuff at the time given they're in direct competition to an extent, at least in the sense they're both revolvers, not that they have the same roles/use case
Just buff the agri to cleave allies
The inner workings of the minds of swedish game designers are an enigma
Maybe one poxwalker at best
I'd like if all ranged weapons would just cleave allies
That'd be nice
especially in a game where one of the allies is the size of a small bus
That's why kantreal and helbore go down a tier when the ogryns around fnndnd
Good weapons until the boulder walks in front of you
helbores should pen through ogryns
Now you have to play ring around the Rosie
yea it's like, oh good I'm in a tight hallway and the guy holding the line for me is the size of the hallway
not even the ogryn's fault, it's just a silly design oversight
Really good weapons until ogryn is there 😔
That's why whenever I see green hit marks I tend to dodge to the side to let my vet work
Yeah they got 3.0 cleave on shots
I will keep @tame minnow until they allow my agri to cleave allies. It would become a B tier weapon instead of a C tier.
I only used it on my zealot but
The spread made it feel awful to use
I take a gun to deal with things at range, this doesn't help me with that
It is good with veteran for close to mid but usually use it against ogryn enemies or monsters because it fucks em up
And good on psyker because psyker is a crit machine and does the same as the vet except close range
Is this worth picking up? What should I be looking for?
I think it's just bad on zealot however
Flesh teaser is generally weak but mercy killer is a good pickup
knife needs uncanny strikes
^^
mercy killer will require you run serrated blade and i prefer to avoid it
Gotcha, so probably a pass?
Saves a blessing slow however
Precog is a good pickup if you see it
Yes
Precog uncanny is a great combo for all the archetypes
Flesh tearer is a fine second blessing on crit zealot
But not really recommended for vet
Due to a comparative lack of both quantity and ease of access to crit
Wouldn't say taking serrated saves you a blessing slot, if you don't have serrated you just don't take mercy
personally prefer flesh tear or riposte, if precog lasted longer than 2 seconds id run it
but ultimately knife needs uncanny strikes as a must pick blessing
riposte is a solid bet
I love precog since your almost always hitting the head. But I'd recommend it for vet or psyker
What does riposte do again
6s of crit chance on dodge
Ah yeah that is probably better for zealot then yeah
More crit for more ability for more crit
Which what knives struggle with most in my opinion
It's not terrible but not the best chaff clearer
considering the weapons intent isnt horde clear its not the worst pick to compensate
It’d be more acceptable if executor were actually comparable to headtaker
I use it for my zealot and it saved me run
I use it for my psyker too but I'm struggling to think what to use for my psykers knife besides uncanny
riposte at least lasts longer though and i generally find it more consistnet
It is, I’d prefer riposte out of the two for that reason
Just don’t take lacerate
I know lol
uncanny is the only mandatory blessing, luckily
god rending is unhealthy for the game though lmao
rending would be more balanced if it just applied to the weapon w/ the blessing
having uncanny work w/ shredder frag grenades is lol
I'm starting to appreciate knife zealot more I go. It's quite honestly as stupidly strong as I read it was.
knife is a solid pick overall as long as you're not speedrunning the game and causing grief
it crutches off of uncanny but overall a balanced and solid weapon
More like speed ruining
Did the general consensus of knife zealot slowly change or something? I swear around the time when the special mission released, everyone was shit talking knife zealot
generally speaking the opinion on the knife has changed
Yeah it's weird seeing people say it's good now when I was told it was throwing a while back lol
People were shit talking knife zealot because a lot of people using it were really bad but also using a high skill cap setup
Also because they tend to run flesh tearer/lacerate
its a solid mobility tool that's able to 1hko a lot of high priority threats like flamers, trappers, dogs, and even mutants if you land a crit
Knife zealot was a favorite of mine for a while even when people still hated it
Knife is mostly taken for mobility
There's plenty of other options that easily overshadow it for both chaffe and hard target clear

An autoclicker does wonders tbh
Yes you can, uncanny lets you open up armor
It's just not comparatively that good for damage
That 20% attack speed on momentum has more value with an Autoclicker
You rarely ever get to 20%
If you're in combat your procs are going to be about 9%
I'm typically around 20% during horde. The 3 stacks on dodge is really good
just picked up from milk, could i get recommendations?
It helps a ton during horde to keep stacks up
Wrath to power cycler, and stamina to maniacs
Good stats, but perks are meh and you'll want to replace both blessings
Slaught just doesn't hold a candle to sunder or brutal
Try out momentum with the dodge stacks thing
You'll keep up 20% way more consistently
Or close to it
yeah that's what i was worried about
I think I didn't take it because I was starved for points
My build is forced to take loner because it's the only one that paths through everything I wanted
I'm also a stealth knife zealot
thank you frens
With throwing knives and a flamer
Flamer is an odd pick, especially without fotf
Fotf?
Oh yeah. I thought it was still called chastise
It just complemented my mass elite rush issue with knife and throwing knives
They're great for single target, but massed elites or bad situations needs a flamer imo
And special issues with the flamer are fixed with throwing knives
Issue with the flamer is that you end up being reliant on your team to deal with ranged enemies
throwing knife across the map
Knives are workable but not great for it
The main thing I want dead that uses ranges are snipers and they're one hit body, so they get a ton of leeway
gunners
I'm a.knife zealot. I just close the distance
You can, but that can leave you out of position and vulnerable
Yeah heavy fuck ups are when I just stealth out
Even then, the high mobility bails me out most of the time anyway when I overextend a little
Out of position and vulnerable with your stealth on cd because you used it to gapclose
And the 50% toughness DR, dodge DR, and dodge toughness regen
I just heavy stab the air to close the distance lol
Sprint diagonally instead
You only get the crit dr if you've hit something recently though
I tend to the same with stealth vet and rush gunner positions to force them to disengage and run or fight me
Usually, I just jump from one shooter cluster to another, so it's not too much of an issue
Works well for me allows my team to suppress or kill them
I find I have to both stay by the team to hand hold and deal with gunners/disablers/elites
For you, if you're taking momentum
Also veteran has dodge immunity when running away from gunfire
You just need to start sprinting and not get shot on the start up
Oh that's just a funny passive then fnndnr
Go out of stealth beat the shit out of some gunners then book it is the funniest thing ever.
Well, it's how perpendicular your running is from the enemy
Conveniently the revolver also solves the issue of reliably one tapping most problem enemies
You also suppress gunners when leaving stealth as a stealth vet so it kind of encourages jumping gunner groups
Stealth vet is a pale imitation of stealth zealot tbh
The damage increase after breaking stealth should be intrinsic
The main issue is the fact it got split into like 6 different nodes
On a tree that's already very node heavy
Stealth vet can tank, do things in stealth much longer and convenient, get a damage boost, lasts longer base wise, refills all toughness, suppresses enemies. It's utility while stealth zealot is 3s and deals ALOT of damage. Meant to kill big things quick.
So comparing them is unfair
It's like comparing exe to gun lugger
Or the relic for zealot to VoC
Yeah the damage boost is a separate node which is dumb, and it's a much longer CD, and there aren't any CD talents in that branch
I usually don't pick the extra charge
1 min vs 45 seconds is noticeable.
I choose hunters resolve for 50% damage resistance for 10s and the 30% damage increase so I don't let my allies get all the heat.
I use it three ways
Attacking groups of enemies so they aggro me and I can take and dish damage
Revive allies
Or do tasks
P p f t.
you're helpin 😄
I play aggressive with stealth vet. I ain't leaving my team with the heat unless it's a martyr
Comparing stealth vet to stealth zealot is still a dumb comparison
Different tasks. Under a similar umbrella
if theres a problematic group of gunners or shotgunners I often use stealth to get up close to them, kill them, get out
literally like "nothing personal gunner"
Play like a guerilla fighter as a stealth vet
"... actually kinda personal"
Disengage, engage, gtfo and do it again
it pairs pretty well with my power sword
I use the Rashad and revolver
I don't get into instances often where I don't have the space to charge and swing
Revolver is just good with WS
but stealth helps out when those instances do hit
Murder everything
like those enormous rager packs
as long as my teammates hold a relative line
I stealth, take all the aggro off me, and charge up for some head level heavy swings
If they can hold a rager horde I can kill them in like 3 swings and that's nothing
Yeah I killed several with a single swing with the Rashad I was like
Holy shit-
I mainly clipped it for the dialogue
very nice
sadly though, the number of actual good stealth vets I've seen, I can probably count on one hand
Same
I mained stealth vet since it released lol and I gotten very good at it
The clip wasn't even for the gameplay
I have much more impressive clips somewhere
impressive clips are stored in the balls
Truth
Ragers have like 2000 hp, so you’re only killing 3 in a swing if they were big chunked before hand
Exactly 2000 hp actually
Even in normal melee if I activate all my buffs which I did here since it's very easy to. I kill them very quickly. Plus these were scab ragers so 25% extra damage to flak, the talent that if you kill with a ranged you get 25% for melee and vice versa 30% from stealth and I forgot how much WS gives you and then the 15% weakspot so basically around 100% extra damage and ignore mass on hits.
The buff stacking goes crazy when juggling
Rashad already deals like an insane amount of damage to begin with.
I’m aware, just saying it’s not so simple as just using it
Guess I'm so conditioned to it
I use this build so much that I'm able to do it without really thinking of it.
Hey guys I almost got ny vet to lv30, what guns should i gacha for when i get there? I like automatic guns more
CIAG is the brrrrt meta
i'd also recommend Agri infantry and Agri braced
they're both very strong as well, and less likely to be hit by a nerf bat kekw
Agri braced makes you feel like Rambo ong
Yeh is great
agri brauto our beloved
I saw a boss melter build with bolter the other day. Ended up with 200k dmg and 250k boss dmg
Twas interesting sight
ooh bolter is exciting but very hard to use for me
Yeah plasma is good at everything besides bosses due to slow fire, reload and venting.
in my head, plasma should have a constant beam mode
i mean its plasma shouldn't that be possible
Oh they're the only ones with a beam?
I think they just shoot faster and don't blow up like IGs plasma gun
Ciag with the ranged backstab blessing stomps BoN
This is unironically good, right?
looks pretty good
Ghost is incredible on them. Not sure how many BPs unarmoured is going to get you
Unarmoured makes it so Dreg Gunners can be one-shot without crit, with enough MF stacks
which is fair, because Maniac doesn't really change a whole lot about breakpoints
And that laspistol variant shoots slow enough that makes the Dreg gunner BP that much more relevant
iirc maniac helps you kill flamers and trappers but its been a while and im drinking so idk
I think its like 1k damage on a headshot crit, so +25% would be meaningful
As i think they have 1200hp
Should I change a damage type on this baby or just keep as is for now?
Was considering swapping dumdum for HH
I'd consider HH to be mandatory and dumdum/infernus are sidegrades on the 6d
You could switch infernus for HH as using it without substantially boosting your crit is quite sus. It's only a sidegrade with a setup to support it.
carapace is obviously less good so that can go to flak or crit chance
I don’t know all the caveats of it just yet, but I have a mod to test these things. I really, really doubt that it makes a big difference, though
Maniac is already harsh for laspistol to kill, and it’s not like I have to compensate heavily for this weakness - crits already help a plenty
Consistent breakpoints>>>inconsistent breakpoints
But it’s more of a case of consistent breakpoint X v potentially consistent breakpoint Y
I don’t know the impact of Maniac yet on LP10
I doubt that it’s significant enough, though, because even with MF stacks it’s a struggle to dent Maniacs reliably
I’d like to hear (read?) a second opinion on Unarmoured v Maniac, with MF keystone in mind
I can melt 2 crushers easily with a single mag, though idk how diff that would be without it, and infernus does some pretty good damage, in most games around 20% of my total damage is fire, more if there are lots of monsters. Im really hoping this crafting rework lets us break locks
While yes, carapace will help you with crusher ttk, it's also less overall value than flak.
The overall dps/damage output of recons is quite low which ironically means infernus gets to put in more potential work. Although depending on the targets you're liable to just kill them before you get much/any value out of it. It's better for the hardest targets, worse for softer ones.
However not critfishing drags down its general value, and also substantially limits the value of shocktrooper.
I didn't know it had poor maniac damage, can you post the modifiers?

If Unarmoured is the base, Maniac is...
Don't assume unarmored is 100%
I'll get it myself
These are some shit ass modifiers
Do take rending strikes
Yeah but it does have its own perks like near instant weapon swap, great mobility, great hipfire, and suppression immunity
It doesn't have suppression immunity
yes it does
Even if it doesn't, shooting under fire is not that big of a deal for it
It does not, it has a different form of effect
You are literally immune to suppression using either laspistol, which paired with ghost makes you one of the best antirange snipers
Oh we're talking about the laspistol
I thought we were talking about the recawns
My bad, yeah it is suppression immune
Also amazing hipfire
The 2 at least has very high dps potential as well on headshots
The modifiers can be fixed with rending
The most important is it has a good base
The 2 does have better dps, but lower per damage shot, the 10 can reach a few good BPs
Recons have a shit base so even with all the rending in the world they still blow
Hm, so would something like this work?
Krak is up for debate, but I try to avoid taking things like
PS6
Mk2 CAxe
There's numerous crusher opening weapons
I mean, I like the Mk4 chainaxe for that matter
Not taking kraks will save you a point
That's true
Which may or may not make a big difference for you
shocktrooper
there's options for sure
Shocktrooper is just some extra uptime, it's not that significant IMO, at least not for me
It's primarily extra uptime
Well, that's uptime
Shock trooper is really good, with surv you get basically infinite ammo
It's primarily extra ammo efficiency, and a lot of it
uptime = less time spend reloading
which = a lot more dps
People don't take shocktrooper to avoid reloading
I have Scav aura anyway, ammo efficiency if of little concern to me
Well if you don't find it to be an issue in practice then you don't need to take it. I remember using the 2 and even with shocktrooper/deadshot/dnd/crit perk/crit talent my ammo efficiency still felt flimsy compared to using an infantry lasgun
Oh yes, and of course surv
I suppose what matters is how much time you really spend shooting the gun v using melee v doing other things
I think there's options and Shock trooper is not the only one
I will give it a go, though
If all shocktrooper did was take ammo from your reserve no one would take it
Charmed reload does that
But at least it's somewhat justifiable because long reload of the stubbers
But even then you can avoid that entirely with pbb
Updated talent tree formatting
I removed majority of my commentary on how to best use some talents
Because I have “important talents to pair with” in weapons’ pages
what would you rec for this? #veteran-class message
Stubbers meta doesn’t really consider Charmed reload to be particularly good right now, maybe Gorgonum could use it to some extent, but more power = more better, typically
Speaking of the primer
I don’t rly play recon much
I advised the recon section of it
Laspistol 10 section doesn’t mention Damage as a priority modifier
Yea that was old version
I’m trying to figure out a way to share word document like Google docs
It's gonna tell you the same thing, headhunter BIS
For the record, this is my current base #veteran-class message
maybe im just being stubborn but i like setting things on fire, and if i drop cara its locked
I tried and it seemed like
The first step to using recon is gaslighting yourself into believing it'll actually be fun this time
I can share it once then if I change it, it just becomes useless
Worst ammo pickup
I like the pew, I like setting things on fire, and I like the big mags and synergy with onslaught
there were just lots being left behind since 1 psyker and both zealots didnt really need any with surv aura
That's what they all say
Scoreboards are unfortunately a terribly contaminated measurement of performance.
I wish recons were good but at best they can be mediocre
On an objective measure, their dps and ammo efficiency are quite poor.
I care more about having fun when i play games than playing BIS meta
And they rely heavily on the talent tree to bandaid their baseline weakness, rather than amplifying existing strength
This would be valid if they were at least fun
I'm not telling you what to do with the game you bought, but they are objectively quite underpar
It is fun for me. Your opinion has zero relevance to my gameplay experience
True
But I find I will feel like playing it because I like the idea of them, then go into a game and be painfully reminded how bad they are
Happens to a lot of people
And get annoyed and switch to melee for half the elites I shoot at
I play enough of this game that I need to cycle weapons and classes to prevent it becoming boring. My ogryn is my lowest lvl class at ~120
For a visual representation of what I mean
Iag's are finesse weapons btw
There's a big disparity in dps
Ive been playing c5 mostly for the last few weeks. Just went back to the recons the last few days, and im having fun. Its far more accurate at mid range than the c5 too
Kill snipers with a short burst instead of having to tap tap tap with the c5
Their only saving grace is their accuracy, or at least while not suppressed.
Maybe not saving grace.
Single upside
Their biggest upside is the sound and visual exp for me
They do feel a lot better than they perform
Hence why people subjectively rate them higher than they would objectively be
If I want a fun time hosing things I will take a graia brauto
But you can actually change visuals/sounds with a mod
And put laser shots/recon sounds on an iag
Or a brauto
Or whatever
The mod is called pewpew, highly recommend
Hopefully one day soon FS will give in and unlock the in game customisation at least for pc players
I hope they buff the recons
Is it in the discord or vortex?
it's on nexus
yeah vortex is the mod loader for nexus, mb
I'm afraid of the day, FS decides to integrate weapon customization. Want that one purity seal? How about paying for one?
Sure, with the mod only player can see his customization but at least it is free.
Fatshark is supposedly well aware of how they're performing, according to statements by playtesters and mods. But they've just chosen not to do anything in a timely manner like always.
That would probably be the day I uninstall this game tbh
Classic fatshark
Yet they stomp nerfed them after a few days of them being OP lol
Arguably they weren't even op
Ironically the 6d then wasn't even as good as the ciag or plasma is now
And it was only the 6d performing well, the others were still mediocre/bad
Exactly. Weird balance ideas once again from FS
One of my mates was right into the game while they were good, he has barely played since they got nerfed 😦
I still use recon las from time to time. Not on high-int 5 dif but just to relax and have some relaxing full-auto firing into mob.
For serious shit I use fast and medium helbores.
I like the effect of HBs once you mod a sight onto them, but i hate the sound of them
plonk plonk sounds sb
I like everything in it except iron sight. And since I use red dot sight now with the mod, my helbore is perfect.
Imagine if FS let us have a similar weapon modding exp in game like EFT has
I hope we get a longlas at some point, I'm not really that fond of charge-up snipers
Atm I prefer a scoped MG12 over a helbore
Just on feel
I used to play Mei in OW so idm charge too much, but fire on click does feel better
Mei is at least still one click
Not hold
Like I can click heads on McCassicree but I could never play widow
Widow is like the most feast or famine character ever made lol
And when they feast it's the absolute worst possible gaming experience to be on the receiving end of
You try headhunters much? Zarona is effectively a sniper rifle too
I have been playing the vraks7 a bit recently
need to roll the other burst fire one sometime
Idk how you would make a sniper work when plasma already exists
Maybe one where the bullet explodes
But then it's just a voidstrike
I'll be happy if it's just a slightly beefier, slower MG12 with some armour pen and high finesse
And a scope
I think arguably the iLasguns should shoot just a tiny bit faster too
They're not bad rn but just a teeny little bit
They need their sight bouncing adjusted most of all
It’s a design choice, if anything else
Would the gun feel good to shoot in the first place, had it had no recoil at all?
How would you make other variants more interesting/distinct from one another, in ways other than damage per shot or rate of fire?
It’s just some of the matters to consider
Bonehead implant malfunction
Ogryn is the best veteran anyway.
Most funniest.
Thanking you!
Best grenade, best guns, best shovel.
and best fren
Purely for "gameplay feedback". Supposedly the story is that lasguns used to have no recoil but the earliest playtesters said it didn't feel good to use them. So now everyone has to deal with silly sight bouncing on infantry lasguns.
Ironically the recons, having nearly no recoil, are the best feeling lasguns.
What about Helbros, though?
They do feel kind of good
Bar the iron sight, but I can cope with that
Recon lasguns are just CoD ARs with no redeemable qualities but going pew pew
And giving your enemies a fair and fighting chance to retaliate before they die
Very honourable ttk
I’d rather that than bouncy sight on ILas, TBH
I said best feeling, not best
They're the worst lasguns performance wise
Helbores also lack the egregious sight bouncing and feel better because of that
Well, I still hold to my point about cod ARs, they don’t feel good to shoot at all
But then you have the charge mechanic, which is not that well liked
I don't play cod
So I have no frame of reference
Me neither, but I do recall a couple notable examples of no recoil ARs from the ancient OG MW2 era
The ACR yeah
Weapon customization fixes that. After - it is perfect universal weapon to do everything other than horde cleaning.
M4 maybe
I think I played it on both
I recall AK5C from BF4 - recoil felt nearly non-existent for its ROF...
Good old times.
That part never mattered - in my head, if I happened to be with empty mag right in front of angry enemy/ies with no cover, I did smth wrong and deserve dying. Also would be dead way before reload anyway.
TBF with 5.56 a trained professional can get pretty close to "no recoil"
Most shooters are set at relatively close range
Where by real world standards full auto wouldn't be ludicrous
What I want for vet is belt-fed stabber like the one dreg gunner use.
Want something with enough dakka even if not the most accurate one.
Recon las doesn't cover the niche.
Ulgo know autogun not lasgun but. Maybe try?
Recon is an SMG if anything
Any particular autogun you have in mind?
(firing BBs)
It’s good, do give it a try
Different name. MK V is MK 5
Small magazine. You have to reload right when you start to feel fun from shooting.
You should understand that as an ogryn.
Braced?
Ulgo have ripper. Not biggest mag but big enought
Columnus Mk5 IAG has 50+ rounds in a magazine, how is that low
Hate brauto. And same small mag.
(it just shoots them really, really fast
)
Blue brauto is fun for dakka
But... lasgun shoot more bullet at same time? Huh?
My blue ogryn stabber has nearly 100. Now that's something to begin with.
Gorgonum stubber averages ~70 rounds in the ammo box, so it's not really a massive difference
But hit hard yes?

And my helbore has 100 (though it shoots more than 1 charge so that doesn't count).
Dunno... if want fast shooting lasgun meybe use one of the slow shooting uns
Well, I want something to start with belt of ~100. Shouldn't be more accurate than ogryn heavy MG, just less damage from single shot, more ROF, and 1m long muzzle flash.
Veteran could probably have a singular heavy stubber
like from that Sharpshooter skill tree art
Exactly
Too big for you lil uns
Very ironic how the pic couldn't be further from what sharpshooter is expected to do.
Albeit if it is ever introduced, I imagine Fatshark would make it a class ability, like Outcast Engineer's from Vermintide 2
Eat all vegetables then can carry it like ogryn
They have a targeting system also, so it's not like the guy is clueless about what he's doing
And Exe Stance with Counterfire upgrade is like a targeting system
He is hipfiring GPMG - this is firing "in general direction of enemy" no matter the targeting systems.
Water gun
Incendiary one.
Whats in-send-dairy mean?
Makes bleeders warm
Whats Bleed-hurt mean?
The stinky lil ones we's shooting at
Barely incendiary gun with a blessing
Laser-pointer from memes.
Still use it as vet when get tired from same tedium of exploding heads by helbore.
The heretics? So we shoot flame out of water gun? Flame water?
Yeah
Spicy water
Burns like the water that comes out of your willy after you do snu snu with the heretics
Dunno who willy is but Ulgo kill heretic with flame water
But if you are Emperor's Saint, would that water burn heretics?
Will have to test
Holy water gun, anti-vampire flamethrower
Ulgo mess up. Said Kass-Grimm instead of Kor-Grimm. Kass Ulgo will level. But Kor-Grimm is one who gone. But said Kass by accident
Updated talent tree format (next version of document)
Thx @raw steppe and @hollow ibex for the suggestions
(Yes I’m calling middle keystone’s stacks “priority” even though the game doesn’t call them that)
(Because I want it to be very clearly differentiated from marksman focus’s “focus” stacks)
Nice. Looks good and doesn’t murder my eyes
is @timid otter alive ?
are the recon lasguns any good?
no
Yeah but i went on the helldiver train
Ill likely be back on darktide probably around when the next patch drops.
Admitely most of all though i just want new weapons to play with in the game
Ive used near every weapon in the game for atleast 2 hours of playtime. Many of them much longer then that.
Not a whole lot new things to really find out or figure out.
Shotgun or revolver for the make every shot count penance. Reddit seems to say shotgun, discord seems to say revolver.
I'm going to try a run tonight, I have a shotgun I can use. And I'll Brunt's a revolver if needs be.
Either will work
Just remember to only shoot when you’re sure to hit something that still has health
I did it with revolver so teammates wouldn't eat my shots
Did cowboy revolver and got first try
Thing is horribly ammo hungry so it works great
ngl, shotguns seem pretty nice
Im sure they work fine i just dont know how the no shots missed aspect works with pellets
Yes
I've learned not to trust fatsharks descriptions ever
As long a single pellet connects with an enemy, it counts as “hit”
Hitting bulwark shield counts as miss tho
Oh damn than use shotgun lol
I did it with mk9 shotgun
So 99% of the spread can miss and still count as a hit with the shotgun.
Not exactly because they do shoot pellets
Not everything within the crosshair spread can get hit
That seems the most user friendly.
as long as you dont end up like the guy in my match who kept blowing himself up just before he would run out of ammo
when complete
i want to read
the twins on the biggest diff just took like 30 years of my life
and the worst part is i got kinda carried
but did you win
On damnation or secret hard mode?
is there a point in charging plasma, since from what i found out, it does not go through crushers
it spends more ammo so you have to shoot less for the make every shot count penance
Mhh I wouldn't do plasma. Does to much damage
damnation
yes
Ah. Good luck with the secret difficulty then. That shit is a massive difficulty spike
secret difficulty?
did not even know that exists
and i think my shotgun won't be much use up there lol
Theres a whole bell puzzle to unlock it. No rescues and gas is much more dangerous
Rude
i may be a noob, but my faith in the god emperor is as strong as yours
I do love toppling big enemies easily, makes me feel like the lil' kid standing up to a big bully and showing them, size ain't everything
lord plasma is
Plasma gun is good, just depends on the stats, perks and blessings it has
Meh as long as you have decent perks thing is still busted
Blessings just make it more overpowered
