stationary dodge is a new option introduced in darktide, so i cant say, dodge on diagonal forward means your able to dodge while holding W and A/D

The jump from difficulty 3 to 4 is the biggest in the game iirc. I'd focus on 3's if I was sub-30. Difficultly 1's are also great for speed running for maximum xp additionally.

The lvl 30 feats do make a huge difference and dif 4's are punishing enough as it is. Hope this helps 🤠

Extra wounds are to give flexibility and 'additional' downs. It can happen frequently on 4s/5s. And depending on your class either max hp or max toughness is preferable. Generally speaking whichever your class replenishes the fastest. For my class (veteran) we can replenish toughness pretty quickly/have high capacity for it already, therefore I focus on maximizing that advantage via curios.

The % bonus from toughness on curios is just more effective since we veterans have more to begin with. I was going with 2 wound curios and 1 toughness but dropped one of wounds for more toughness*, the difference was really noticeable.

It's especially helpful to stack more toughness as a vet once you get better at dodging/blocking melee attacks since toughness absorbs all ranged damage, you can get a pretty big pool with two curios devoted to it.

You put a good amount of thought into this, awesome! It helps explain the basics of what works well in the highest difficulties and why, too. I would personally change quite a bit of the feats and stuff but veteran can be really versatile so it's not like you're wrong and I'm right.

Same build works with Lasguns just as well and I use Lasgun instead of Bolter sometimes if I want. All you gotta do is change S2 and S5

Hello, Newbie here 👋 So i have some questions, want to see if i understand correctly, using my hammer as example: I'm assuming 235 is the base rating for it, right? So those 235 has been randomly allocated to the stats. And so the only thing that increases combat rating is Perks and Blessings, ya? Someone on reddit said to look for high dmg stat on a grey weapon and consecrate it from there, but why do that if a purple has more base points to distribute to stats? From what i understand, the only reason to consecrate is to get the perks and blessings you prefer, and if unlucky, wait for the ability to move blessing from 1 weapon to the other, am i right or brainless? 🤔

TLDR, wait til end-game to look for high desired stats, then consecrate to get desired perks and blessings? Plus save weapons that has the perks and blessings you want and transfer later?

TLDR - you get it right. The higher your power the higher amount of base allocated stats you have. The highest currently known is 380. So you want to get your power up and then look for 350+ base stats with point allocation you want

Yeah I have tweaked a lot of things around and I often found myself in spots where I didn't have the tools to deal with the situation and this fixed that. The only reason I prefer the bolter is for the off chance that my teamates didn't bring anything to quickly kill crushers and bulwarks. Positioning aggressively with camo is key, you can make every engagement 10x easier for your team and they wouldn't even notice.

I'm not sure if all of them allow you to stagger by pushing them back. I use power sword so it's charge > dodge > left click > dodge > left click > dodge back > charge. Empowered light attacks with power sword stagger them though so not the best example.

Apologies for the late post, getting caught up. What I've been doing is buying greys/greens/blues with 70%-80% in all base stats.

That way when the crafting system is fully unlocked when game goes full released

when Fatshark takes a break from setting up micro transaction items

... when the crafting system comes out... I won't have to worry about base stat drops and simply plug n play with blessings and perks.

Not much help in your current position but potentially worth your while since you're checking the store alot anyway 🤠

Bring a revolver and get a team that can carry you in an Assassination mission while you only use your melee weapon. Empty everything into the boss, use your melee weapon for the rest of the fight. As long as you never switch to your gun again, it will count as completed even if you gain more ammo with your vet passive. It seems like the game doesn't recognize that your passive gave you more ammo unless you reload

Psykers can be really strong but are trickier to play, they're somewhat squishy but have good tools to deal with whatever (awesome staff weapons), veterans are try hard kinda class that can pinpoint and take out some of the most dangerous foes, zealots exist.

Do. Not. Join. Malice or higher difficulty missions until you are level 15 or are playing with a seasoned, high leveled team. Uprising is your friend and it offers decent xp, especially if you complete the secondary objectives

Wish there was a resource somewhere that talks about it for Darktide specifically, but the way it worked in Vermintide was: Level + weapon rating was important at staying relevant per each difficulty. iirc it mostly affected how much you could cleave through horde, and how hard you can stagger tougher enemies, which is actually really good in this kind of a horde game. It didn't necessarily affect damage per se, which I believe is actually attributed to any tooltip that mentions power bonuses, which is also present in Darktide.

tl;dr Not only are you getting hit harder at lower character levels while in higher difficulties, but you also might have weaker stagger and cleave.

How much harder would everyone say diff 4 is than diff 3? I'm at level 26 on my ogryn, but I still find that with randos we're invariably getting pummeled by hordes of specials on hi intensity diff 3 missions. Sure we usually succeed, but it's a slog at times.

It's noticeable for sure, a lot more concentrations of elites and shooter squads, more special spawns (not only in frequency, but it's common to get like 2 dogs or 2 mutants while juggling flamers and snipers)

How much harder would.ypu say are the bosses and mini bosses? I find that for mini bosses diff 3 they're pretty easy, even the daemonhosts if they target my ogg (went shield and some curse resist). However the actual bosses are insanely rough to get through and I nearly lose every boss fight because of the near infinite plasma blasts the boss fires at us mixed with annoying tiny hordes swarming from behind.

They behave the same, but they're probably tankier - the only difficult thing about them in heresy is the timing of the spawn, which can be more frequent is all. lol

the chasm logistratum assassination boss seems harder to me but the usual strat even on heresy is to drop a med pack and melee him

I very much built my ogg to be as tanky as possible and able to handle hordes solo even with elites mixed in.

Rumbler or Grenadier gauntlet for me, depending if the team might need more horde clear or special killers. Mostly bc I'm not a huge fan of the long reloads for Ripper and Stubber in a horde situation

That's fair. My main issue with the grenadier is it feels like the worst of both worlds. A meh grenade launcher and a meh weapon in melee. Sure it fires faster, but I don't have much luck with it personally.

I tend to like the stubber because despite the slow reload it's ammo goes a lot farther for me (especially with the load +6 rounds on crit hit blessing), and I like the ripper because despite it's slow reload it's versatile for a decent melee attack, and decent for both single target killing and horde clear.

That's fair! it's not a knock on you at all but as I've noticed some Ogryns use the stubber, they tend to hang back a lot - and just for me personally, the most useful I can make my Ogryn is by making space, and being a dedicated frontliner, so I'm actually barely using my range - also why I like rumbler/gauntlet, cause it's fire and forget

That's true. I tend to like using the stubber in the front lines until enemies get too close then I switch to my shield. However I see many oggs try and act like vets with it, lol. Also true! The rumbler is super satisfying to use. Probably the most with the starting gun right behind. With the starting gun I'd say it's super satisfying to use but not super effective compared to other guns.

Only thing I dislike with my shield is how my teammates refuse to benefit from it. Slowly advancing and taking fire on the shield for my team? Nah, watch the psyker or zealot rush into the open and start getting gunned down like ducks during hunting season

That's goofy of them. When I'm playing psyker especially I glue myself to the back of a shieldgryn. Staff goes clean through, no downside except visibility but who needs to see when you're blasting indiscriminately

I did it legit! Use a plasma gun and try to find one with low ammo stats - it might seem high, but even with my 75% ammo stat/215 ammo total, I'm only firing it 24 times when strictly overcharging the shots. A lot safer than using revolvers/shotguns with 30+ shots

Spacing is nonexistent in this game because of the anti sprinting bs Fatshark has. You NEED to dodge in order to avoid attacks. Dodging ranged attacks also lengthens your lifespan for obvious reasons.

Toughness is percentage based to stop bleedthrough and you get plenty of toughness generation from elite kills so I think health is better but toughness is still good
