Hmm I was just gonna ask if anyone knows why I’m always tired even when I sleep well, I don’t know if it’s cause I don’t really get sun in because I work from 6-9 or because of my diet, my life hasn’t really been the best, but I’m just tired of feeling so tired always and just so sad
Do you feel not well rested after waking up? Do you have difficulties sleeping in? Do you wake up during sleep? ~ trying to differentiate insonmia vs. hypersomnia vs. ...
Lack of sunlight is a good hypothesis!
Many questions to explore your sleep hygiene:
- Sleeping at regular hours?
- Pre sleep routine?
- Use of medications, drugs or coffee and stimulants?
- Other medical antecedents (for example hormonal issues, any thyroid medication or issues, anemia, difficulties breathing, ...)
- Psychological stress? Nightmares? Panic Attacks? PTSS ? Anxiety...
- If sleeping with partner, do they notice you moving? waking up? Snoring? ...
- Use of bedroom (some people work in their bedroom, watch movies etc. )
- Excercise near bedtime? Other Activities near bedtime?
- ....
Do not answer these questions in the chat if you're uncomfortable! You may use it to think about your current sleep hygiene, perhaps find ways to improve!
If still troubled, you can always consult your general practitioner/family physician!
I go to sleep at a pretty consistent basis, around 9:30 to 10 and I wake up at 5
I am a bit stressed but that’s cause of work I try not to think about work when I’m home
Sometimes I do exercise an hour or 2 before bed since I have so little free time
btw please do not share personal details! Hahaha
Oh your good
I mean sometimes I’ll listen to music for a bit
Like while laying in bed
I also eat at night like a big meal
Interesting! For some this can be trouble if done to close to bedtime!
Most probable it is a combination of factors, all contributing a little to the general feeling of tiredness. I highly recommend you consult a certified doctor with this! Since they can also check for other reasons on physical exam!
Reading your messages, you seem to really have thought it through! I have hope for you, I wish that you will sleep well again :))
Yea Im just really tired always
What about during vacations?
Like I’ll be standing at work and I’ll be falling asleep standing
Uh I don’t have those
Wow?! Weekends?
Do you feel as if you are overworked?
Do you still have time for (social) activities that you might enjoy?
(again these questions you should answer for youself, please do not respond if you are not comfortable sharing it with 'the world' watching)
you may also visit #venting if you would like advice or people's tricks that they might have used!
Uh no
I don’t really have any friends or anything I just work
A bit
Okay, I'm not sure how it works where you live. Generally family physicians will explore this issue with you! They will try to figure out the factors contributing to the tiredness and make a plan with you that will gradually bring back energy!
You have done an amazing job thinking about the probable causes. I encourage you to take this with you to the doctor and explore the issue!
Are you able to make an appointment with a GP (doctor)?
It might be because youre not getting enough oxygen when you sleep (especially if youre obese this is a risk), might be something else affecting sleep quality, you might not be getting enough exercise, you might have poor nutrition, you might have low blood sugar (if you are really skinny or take in a lot of artificial sugar), or maybe youre taking in too much caffeine and its wearing you down.
what is the general consensus on HRT for combatting loss of bone density in postmenopausal women?
Hi, I am not sure if it is right place to post in here but, I'd like to know what Medical coder, or Psychologist, Other fields of doctor using Hardware and software? If there anybody that kind of occupational workers in here. I'd like to know raw opinions. The reason is that,
- Medical hardware software liker. (That white and 4:3 inch monitor vibes)
- I'd like to make more efficient my time.
- I'd like to more organized.
->more specific
1
・I saw "Medical coder" on the YT, and I felt kinda cool.
・I feeling like organizing is getting one of my hobbies, habit, ritual for me.
・I'd like to know about devices which is Monitor(brand, inches, color etc), Keyboard and Mouse etc. Also softwares.
2.
・I tried to notion, discord server, libreoffice and physical note pad etc but, most of them still feels not suits for me.
・I'm eager to be more meticulousness, accuracy.
3
・The upper 3 itself. That is all.
Thank you.
emo-psych
From what I was seeing.. HRT stops post-menopausal women from losing bone density to menopause. Exercise, inlcuding resistant training, increases bone density and helps grows it. Both combined has good results.
I want to find a hot blondies guys groupe chat which one is it?
my lecturer is telling me that the anterior surface of the knee is dorsal?? and the posterior is ventral? and that this is an exception? has anyone else heard of this because i feel like ive never heard of this before idk i might be losing my mind
Hello this is not a dating server
Some advices for pharmacology pls!!
I'm losing the battle haha :///
anybody doing IMD?
im taking the course right now so im right there with you !! need some tips too... its hard to memorize all the specific drug therapies...
Idk , maybe those phrases are referring to the knee when it bends ,
try sketchy for pharmac, its really good and will help you rmb for longg time
SKETCHY
Honestly, Sketchy + Anki are your best bet
if you happen to need more information for anything in particular, you can always reference Goodman's Pharmacology, it's long but that book is a gem.
Anatomy will GENUINELY be the end of my days
am I the only one who thinks head anatomy (excluding cns) is actual torture?
is ANYTHING worse?
Use dr. Ashwinis lectures
Im super late but what’s sketchy ?
way too slow tbh perhaps for complex topics like the cranial nerves or the brachial plexus
Google Sketchy Medical.
They have videos that explain medical topics and are easy to memorize bc they use the memory palace method. You can search a video on YT, I'm sure there's a couple of free ones there that can explain better than I do
They don't go into as much detail as books but they give sufficient high yield info for boards
I love the brachial plexus yummy noodles
helloo
this isnt a medic related ques really but if anyone has the time to respond, I'd like to know what made you guys choose med?
I just finished hs and i dont know where im supposed to go. I'm kinda looking towards med so i just wanted to know what 'solidified' your decision to go on this path?
Hey there, I’m looking for a genuine studying partner for the preparation of USMLE, I’m planning on taking this exam by the end of this year, I need someone with whom I can discuss stuff and who keeps me motivated and maybe do some revisions together. I sometimes get inconsistent and distracted, so having a partner would really help.
I know my answer is cheesy
But I’ve shadowed few doctors and even visited the ER during a live case ongoing(brain injury due to crashing a car)
The atmosphere and how the whole process works really fascinated me honestly and the general curiosity for the human body. However it’s also the fun at uni honestly.
<@&942391219206647828>
Thanku hun
i chose it bc i'd always liked science and i also loved the speaking to people part of waitressing and my mum had been a nurse. im abt to graduate and i will say i think its important you have a strong reason for wanting to do it bc it can get pretty hard and exhausting and idk what country you're in but at least in mine its lost a lot of the job security that also appealed to me. you need to have a good enough reason to fall back on when you are completely unmotivated and things get hard and exhausting bc if ur reason is to help people there are definitely easier ways to do that
i absolutely love it though
but it can be rough when your friends work normal jobs and get weekends off and only have to worry about a 9-5 when you have to do a 9am-9pm or 9pm-9am etc
would v much recommend trying to get some work experience and seeing if u think its something youd enjoy
Does anyone have sketchy pathology videos?
maybe if you supply resources to notebook llm, it can cook something for you.
hi ! do you know good ai tools to work with that are free? i have been using chatgpt but maybe there are others out there that are maybe better. thanks 🙂
all i need usually is for it to explain certain pathologies, why x causes z, and do test practice
perplexity! it gives you sources so you know what it says is true
or openevidence which was specifically created for healthcare professionals but I haven’t tested it yet
.
thank u! i used open evidence, but unfortunately i have read news all week that is going to shut down.
Only in Europe, where i am from so
<@&942391219206647828>

Can you theoretically hibernate for a long time for space travel?
Yea if you stop the body’s metabolic activity
Then the question becomes how do you do that? You can’t
But even if you did you only have a million years before you die from radiation poisoning from your bodys own radiation lol

Hey guys
new channels!
Man we need an Anki Channel
Anyone in HOSA? I’m gonna be a junior next year, and I’m considering joining. Any advice?
I competed in Medical Math. Honestly, as long as you show up to weekly practices and do exercises, you should be set for the competitions
Medical math? I know HOSA is a high school/college club for those who wanna pursue medical careers, but idk much about it. Could you give me an insight of it?
Tips for memorizing nerves haha
Learning has a lot to do with memorization. Also you need to be quite determined and study almost daily because of the knowledge amount. But it's really interesting if you like sciences, group work, and details/ in-depth understanding of a subject 🙂
i loved my experience with pediatrics!
but i'm also interested in family med, internal med, and possibly anesthesiology
anyone here interested in Kinesiology? having a hard time trying to recall all the ROM's, MMT'S, and especially locations of muscles
I love how they call it “family med” in the US. But it’s surprising because in the US people seem to look down on family med as a specialty, but in most of the rest of the world it’s called “General Practice” and it’s seen a quite a prestigious thing to be qualified as a “General Practitioner”.
Hey guys, I’m applying for med school in Brazil, and I’d love to hear about why you chose medicine or your experiences so far!
Anyone here doing MBBS or in any med school?
Here's some good diagrams for it! Not sure how detailed you need it to be. Youtube has some good tutorials. Also try drawing it while walking through the process
Mnemonics are going to be your best bet, as well as focusing on where they go and what their purpose is. Like, the cranial optic nerve is used for looking. "Optic" means "see" and brings signals from the eye to the brain to communicate what you see
Is there anyone here that started med school in France and then moved to the USA for a few years? cause I'm really thinking about doing it...
Im not in med school but im in the states and uni is sososo expensive here so if you find an affordable program and figure smth out go for it !! But just be prepared for all the expenses
^ indeed.
for those who studied or are currently studying for the mcat, what anki decks do you recommend?
preparing for NEET?
or u can use the memory palace technique
yep
How do you do that exactly? 🤔
A Memory Palace is an imaginary location in your mind where you can store mental images to remember facts, strings of numbers, shopping lists or all kinds of things. It's hugely popular among memory champions.

I have aphantasia, so this technique isn't very helpful. I feel like people with aphantasia need a special set of memory techniques. Mnemonics have been the most helpful for me.
I am a 4th year medical student in the US (MD). I am going to be a surgeon. If anyone needs any help with medicine, biochemistry, physiology, pathophys, pharm, micro, etc, let me know.
oo good for you ! @dapper maple i'll definitely plan on asking you questions in the future. i'm currently working on my bs in microbio, and then med school if i can get in. my main concern right now is getting my extracurriculers in, (research, volunteering, clinical experience and shadowing) since covid has made things a little difficult.
Hello guys ! Anyone could share with us some references or any anki cards about Dermatology ? (Medical student from Algeria) thank you for all ❤️
@dapper maple dude next year I going to study medicine, I would be a surgeon too. what would you do in my situation, before starting university? what would be your advice?
hello im still studying (im in high school rn) to get into med school but my dream is to be a doctor one day. is med school really that hard? i'm willing to sacrifice my social life but i dont want to loose my mental health. any tips? 👀
My nr 1 tip for anyone applying to a school that will take most of your time for several years, is to build strong habits BEFORE you enter. A place in your dream school wont suddenly fix all your other problems: mental health, relationships, lack of physical activity, self-esteem issues etc. The list goes on.
You will get SO much more out of your education, if you try your best to have these aspects on at least a decent level before diving into the beautiful, but extremely difficult world of medicine.
Thinking about these important things and looking after yourself takes up a lot of mental space, which many people feel like is too much to handle together with the massive pressure studying medicine brings. There will come times during your education where you have to sacrifice some parts of your healthy habits (hopefully only for a short period of time), but it will be so much easier to get back into them, if they have been habits for years! Good luck 🤍
thank you so much for this!! i think i have some time left to work on myself before studying my dream path of education 🧡 i dont have any friends that wanted to take a similar path to mine so it was kinda hard to find any emotional support and ask for an advice. thanks a lot 🙏
What would you like to know about specifically? Dermatology is quite a vast branch just like the other clinical branches
Feel free to shoot me a dm if you ever need a chat! I can relate to the feeling of being very alone with the dream. Most of my high school friends ended up dropping this career path. Continue to work hard and keep your grades up, but don't forget to live a little! If you feel like you need a year off to work on yourself and maybe gather some money, trust your instincts. You only have to work for the rest of your life lol, there's no rush.
You got this 🤝
thank you i'll dm you for sure! 😊 i'm glad i found someone that understands the struggle. it can get rough sometimes.
Hey not sure is this is the way to do this, but wanted to ask if anyone new about cancer therapies, specifically synthetic lethality?
I'm studying this branch now ! and I wanted to have some references in english in order to compare it with what I learn in french ( we're studying right now all about the bacterial dermatitis and atopic dermatitis, urticaria, drug eruption...)
If you want something strictly for reference read Fitzpatrick's dermatology. It can slightly difficult to understand, especially if english isn't your first language, but it covers all possible disease under the sun. If you find that too difficult try reading Illustrated synopsis of dermatology by Neena Khanna. I've got the PDFs in case you aren't able to find them online or at your library.
Can you please send me the PDFs ? (Bouloulou.doc@gmail.com) ❤️ thank you so much for all the advices
Hey guys! I'm a bit confused on how exactly CDK and cyclin work to regulate the cell cycle. Is it:
CDK-cyclin = off = NO cell cycle
CDK-no cyclin = on = GO cell cycle (if this is true, is CDK alone enough to push the cell cycle to progress?)
Is my understanding right? Would really appreciate clarifications 😂
Yardim
Thanks I've heard it and I'm still searching. I heard of à possible exchange 🤞
for sure!! some unis offer so pretty affordable exchange programs so it's just a matter of researching and finding one that fits the budget
Someone here is doing or studying medicine in Switzerland please ? :))

Its a bio question does anyone know :/
There is a multiple choices or not ? O.o
Cytosine and guanine
Nucleotides and pentose sugar
Purines and purines
Pyrimidines and pyrimidines
I think for you purposes this would be the correct answer 🙂
Oh thanks 🙏
How is med school, would you recommend?
Hey - are there any psychiatrists/ studying to be psychiatrists out here?
the medical career is not for smart people, it is for people who are not afraid of failure, because you are going to fall many times trust me, but what makes the difference between one person and another is that when you fall 7 times, you have to get up 8 times. That is what the career is all about, never give up!
Many people kill themselves to get high grades and deprive themselves of their favourite hobbies and to be with people special to them, the only thing that will give you problems, you have to keep in mind that those long 6 years are worth it, I prefer to be with people I appreciate and finish my career in 8 years or more than being 6 years depressed and with problems
take it easy.. and fulfill your dreams
those are words of experience and hope for medical students like us thnxxx
I have made a server for NEET aspirants! Dm for link.
I didn't know you can stand up when you are already up mosh kashte are you genji
Anyone preparing for neet pg ?
For UK based students, What is a stable BMAT score to have for Imperial med undergrad??
anyone studying in Russia?
Are you from KGZ?

As someone that’s done a lot of research in to med school. I would say don’t be so focussed on one particular uni. A massive amount of people each year fail to get into one med school even with the minimum reqs of AAA for medicine. Focus on getting in. Med uni to unis the same.
78i nasıl bulduğumu da söyliyim basamak analizi a ya 1 eklemek abc ye 100 eklemek digerlerinden 2 çıkarmak 22 çıkarmak 100-22=78

What are corticotropins?
A citation from NCI:
"corticotropin -
A hormone made in the pituitary gland. Corticotropin acts on the outer part of the adrenal gland to control its release of corticosteroid hormones. More corticotropin is made during times of stress. Also called ACTH and adrenocorticotropic hormone."
Thank youuuu
If I can add a little information, this hormone is made by the adenohypophysis that is the anterior part of the gland
pituitary gland*
Okay thank you
you're welcome
Whats hypergycemia?
It's the level of glucose in the blood
in med lab it's expressed in mg/dl
In Italy it's expressed in this way
But doesnt hyper usually mean excess?
yeah
in fact I was continuing
Ohh sorry i cut you off
We can talk of hyperglycemia if this valor is over 110
obviously it's a convention, the pathologic condition has not a cut off
Ohh okay
Thanks for your help @proud sable
What are the symptoms of myxedema?
Anyone from any uk med schools with any recommendations?
anyone from Brazil med school?

hii everyone does getting into zoology or becoming a zoologists involves the subject physics or math or just biology plus sum chemistry
anyone from belgium?
Anyone good in biochemistry???
Me
in witch university are you ?
you might need to tale pre-calc and basic physics as some universities require that as a prerequisite
im currently in india, in class 12 and planning to go into courses which doesnt have physics or maths in it and just bio and chemistry, so im planning to do zoology, then write the IELTS . so the country im tryna go is australia
im also thinking of biotechnology-
w the same procedure
Maths are essential in all sciences 🙂
I have a degree in biology and currently a final-year medical student. We had a lot of biophysics, statistics, computational biology in my undergrad years
uh, alright alright
there are some courses that dp not require you to have maths or physics in the coursework but be prepared to study them in freshman year, as they ARE needed
i knowwww but yeah, not everybody likes maths, i know it’s essential but can’t force it
allright! tyy
true that
Students usually have maths aversion because of how they were taught in high school. University professors usually teach them better, in a lot more underrstandabke and fun way
do u know any courses which only has bio and chem in it
Understandable*
uh i know Canadian universities, don’t know anything about australia
there are great resources like ‘the great courses’ too, they are amazing, amazinggggg
used to hate maths, love it now
A bachelors in Microbiology usually only mas basic math, a lot of biology and some biochemistry. Also only basic physics 🙂
ooh , pls do tell me about them. id like to know something about it too!
tyyyy!!!! 😊
can i do it later?
i’ll surely get back to you
sure mate no worries, take yo time
just can’t right now
lol you’re already talking like aussies (no offence)
.
hahahahaha
none taken Imao
i have some australian online friends maybe thats why 🥲 🥲
I am, hello!
can u help me for my doubts
Sure, how can I help?
what are symptoms of charles bonnet syndrome
Visual disturbances, usually
i had a doubt in my mcq that do hands tremble when temp rises in this syndrome?/
It doesn’t usually affect the hypothalamic area of the brain, so temperature changes are not common
Yes, it can
so in case if an emergency surgery is done on patient wjhat are chances that the patient will survive??
Risk stratification for surgery depends on the type of emergency and the type of surgery to be done
what if person gets paralysed ?
What’s the question, what if the patient gets paralyzed during the surgery? Or....?
if before surgery the patient gets paralysed then??
will patient survive ??
or get paralysed for his whole life?
Yeah, the patient can survive, but it depends on how the patient got paralyzed in the first place
oh
If a major nerve was injured or cut in half, then unfortunately the patient will not regain any motor or sensory functions
hmm got it one more QUE
if we inject levofloxacin to myasthenia gravis patient then will it be a sure test that he has mysthaenia as disease is not easily detectable
Myasthenia gravis is diagnosed serologically and electrophysiologically, not through medication injections such as levofloxacin
But patients with MG often react poorly to fluoroquinolones such as levofloxacin.
So, if you inject a patient with levofloxacin and their condition worsens (muscle weakness), it can give you a clue that they may have MG, but it is not a confirmatory test
then what is confirmation test for mg
ugent, you??
Repetitive nerve stimulation and Electromyography
Sure, happy studying!
can i share my doubts frequently here ?
Yeah, people are very helpful here! I’m not usually online, but I’m sure there are many med students that can help you if you have questions
fine
yep that is the reason i luv this discord study family out of all others
UCL but it's at brussels. In witch grade are you ?
im in my 2nd year, you?
Me too. Your courses are in english or in dutch ?
ayeeee, yeah my courses are in dutch. yours? french probably right?
Yes in french, have you good grades? Or you are here to improve (a bit like me)?
hahaha, my grades are good at the moment but i have to study a lot for my exams. so that's why im here
ok ok, i wich you good luck with your exams. And if you have questions or a lack of motivation don't hesitate

So 2nd year and started directly in medicine?
yupp, hbu?
yep
Awkward chatting in English over an international community to someone next door haha
true hahaha
hi! is anyone here taking up a bioethics subject?
hi i took bioethics last semester 🙂 but it depends on what major you are studying chances are its different.
i'm currently studying medical laboratory science! i was wondering if you have any thoughts about using data from unethical researches/experiments? :))
like is it unethical to use those data?
yes id say its unethical. i think its important to practice gathering information or data from credible sources.
did you mean studying people and then some will die during the experiment?
if theres consent i think its okay? but only if the person is willing
Hello there, does anyone have any tips for biochemistry II and III? I have problems memorizing all the steps and names of the reactions 🥲
**There is a new rule (rule number 5), please read it before using the help channels! #rules **
if you're refering to the metabolism side of biochem(as i am not familiar w the subdivisions of I,II,III),it personally helps me talking all the pathways, from some common ones(Krebs and respiratory chain) to individual protein, lipid etc and draw them out. each time try to redraw the whole reactions. enzymes can be tricky, but start at least with the rate limiting ones
Okay thanks, I'll try 😊
Does anyone study anatomy online?, I'm dying :,
Hi, what do you need help with?
I have trouble understanding the innervation of each muscle and it gets confusing.
what module are you in right now? What anatomical structures?
Until time, neck, head and upper limb
for muscles directly innervated by cranial nerves, it helps a lot if you know if the cranial nerves are purely motor, purely sensory, or mixed.
So for example, for the head muscles such as muscles of facial expression, they have both sensory and motor functions. They are innervated by the facial nerve which is a mixed nerve.
anatomy is something that requires time to learn it, u cant cram it, u have to continue to revisit it in short bursts and you need to use as many mediums as possible to learn it - ie. read about it, watch videos and draw it yourself. A resource I used a lot back in medical school to help me do this was https://teachmeanatomy.info/ its free and has a good phone app too...i also highly recommend the netters anatomy books along with the moores clinical anatomy book
Containing over 700 vibrant, full-colour images, TeachMeAnatomy is a comprehensive anatomy encyclopedia presented in a visually-appealing, easy-to-read format.
As for the upper extremities, it helps if you've memorized the brachial plexus
oh I've used this before! It's pretty good, and not too heavy on the phone. If I remember correctly, Netter's also has an online app. Though I think it's not for free?
Thank you very much, I will keep it in mind.
Also for the brachial plexus, this is the best video ive seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gPsHCflFfA
http://www.handwrittentutorials.com - This tutorial covers the Brachial Plexus and also how to draw the Brachial Plexus. It covers in detail all the nerves that arise from the Brachial Plexus and which nerve roots of wich they are comprised. For more entriely FREE tutorials and their accompanying PDFs visit http:/www.handwrittentutorials.com
ive never used the netters app tbh, but his drawings are second to none
I also use Anatomy Atlas (Visible Body) on my ipad. It’s pretty interactive!
There’s a 3D model you can move around and strip down from muscle, bone, innervation, blood supply etc
@cosmic sail as you can see theres a lot of resources out there in different mediums and you pick the few in each medium that work for you and run with it. Dont get too frustrated either, its not an easy thing to learn, but when ur on the other side of it you will def appreciate your efforts
I can add two recommendations to those already mentioned:
https://www.kenhub.com/
and that you try moving muscles and speaking aloud like: "I am now moving my leg, signals are traveling from x nerve to y muscle, making it contract". It helped me a bunch, and you can easily add more complexity by mentioning more muscles, describing the nerve signal as it travels from the spinal cord etc.
Thanks for your advices, I am using Moore and Netter and I hope to use TeachMeAnatomy and Visible Body
Thanks, I will try to use that method
Sure, good luck on studying!
Yes, best of luck! You can do it! 💪
are there any med students or doctors here? if yes, can anyone pls tell if we drink coffee at night, why does our stomach ache after that
night means like around 11:40 pm- 1:00 am
The question often arises: can coffee be the cause of acid reflux – an extremely unpleasant condition when the acidic contents of the stomach are thrown back into the esophagus? If this situation is repeated constantly, they talk about gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which is accompanied by frequent belching, swallowing disorders and heartburn due to irritation of the esophageal tissues with acidic stomach contents.
Some scientists do not find a connection between coffee and GERD, but some studies indicate that such a connection still exists. It is believed that the reaction of the stomach to coffee may be related to the method of processing the grains. For example, ground coffee with caffeine increases the production of hydrochloric acid more strongly than a decaffeinated drink. And ground coffee with caffeine and freeze-dried instant coffee lead to increased gastrin production.
in my case, there is no acid reflux, just some mild stomach pain and heaviness, what does that mean?
gastritis or ulcer i think
😮
IDkkkk iTs gOne now, now that i drank water after finishing the coffee, maybe coffee just drains the oxygen level of the blood??
proffesionals pls confirmm 🥲 👍
your stomach is just not good with acidic liquids (like coffee). Try not to drink it on empty stomach
if it has problems with acids - it means it is damaged somehow. 2 hours is empty. Just be careful with your diet, if symptoms will be permanent - go to the doctor.
Not one of those yet, but I have done lots of personal reading and research into medicine. What I will say is every “drug” has withdrawal symptoms. Symptoms that you feel when the “drugs” that have been consumed wear off/ are no longer active at significant levels within the bloodstream. With caffeine the most common withdrawal symptom is drowsiness and headaches, however one can be muscle aches. Withdrawal symptoms are highly personalised, as the stomach is a muscle there could be a possible connection. However I’m not sure and am not a medical professional, I’m just making general assumptions based off data.
If this is something that keeps happening and is repetitive go to your doctor, you likely need treatment. The idea that GERD is caused simply by acid in the stomach is incorrect - your stomach is meant to hold acid. GERD happens when the intraluminal pressure of the stomach surpasses the closure of your lower esophageal sphincter. It might sound like symantics, but its important because some people just have genetically weaker LES and are more prone to GERD at a younger age, and i can go on and on as for the reasons. GERD is also worsened when you lay flat (because gravity) which may be why you get these sxs at night. Additionally, at certain periods while you sleep you make certain hormones (wont get into this now) that increase / decrease your stomach acid. It can cause you to have trouble breathing, snore, burp etc. If these are true stomach pains and depedning on your age, ethnicity, lifestyle, etc (all things i dont know) you could be having signs of an ulcer, which is something only a doctor can diagnose and treat you with....finally, the comment made about withdrawal is completely incorrect in the context of this situation, for multiple reasons...i would get into it but this comment is already too long.... please please please refrain from seeking medical advice here, alot of what u will get is flat out wrong....SOURCE: Im a doctor...lol
its an experience to say the least lol., a humbling one too, and i was a chemistry and molecular cell physiology double major with a psychology minor...it sounds more impressive than it is, a lot of the classes applied to multiple categories lol
@vast girder would you do it again?
hmmm...i probably would, but i def wouldnt do it in the same way
Is being a pre-med difficult and is it as long as journey as some people say it is?
difficulty is relative. Surround yourself with hard working people who eat "difficult" for breakfast and you will be amazed in what u can do. Surround urself with terrible company and your definition of difficult will be skewed towards easy. You have the power to choose who u associate with. I loved my college days, I partied, made friends etc. but i def didnt spend my entire focus during college on doing this frat thing and that party thing, my goal was to learn, everything else was secondary. Sometimes in college people go with the mindset to party first and learn second...if u do that, then ur gonna have a miserable time trying to get into med school...
and its a long long journey, but i like it...just whatever you do, if u want to practice in the USA...do NOOOOTTTT go to the Caribbean or out of the USA for med school, its better to take a gap year and try again for a us school than to do that
Yeah I am probably going to try only for AUS medical schools. Slightly worried about embarking on the journey though because watching YouTube videos of AUS med students and doctors they say just how long the road is. Not sure how long it is in the US but in AUS it’s usually 3 undergrad + (a honours year) + 1-2 Years of applying/reapplying + 4/5 years of medicine school + 3-7 years of training. That’s if you can’t get a direct 6 year undergrad med school entry (requiring an ATAR of 99 / US GPA / SAT of roughly 3.9 / 1500). It seems so daunting.
hey this might sounds corny and over used but the longest journey starts with the first step. "just keep swimming" is gonna be your motto. If you look at ANYTHING from a 20,000 ft view like that it seems daunting, but if u look at it as little steps and achievable goals it isnt as bad so long as you love what you are doing. In the US it is similar, it is 4 years of high school + 4 years of bachelors undergrad + (optional 1-2 years of research or masters degree if your scores arent good enough) + MCAT entrance exam + 4 years of medical school + 3 US Board exams for licensing + residency training which is anywhere form 3 to 12 years, but most specialties are 4 or 5
Ahh so it sounds fairly similar. Not gonna lie that’s actually a really helpful way of looking at it, thanks man.
Anytime, best of luck to u, if ur in this group, then u already are a step ahead of your peers in that you are at least trying to surround urself with like minded people with similar goals. u got this 👍
Thankssss maaan
any med student here ??
Hi, do you need help with anything?
It's hard work, but I kind of enjoyed the journey. This is a trade that not many get to do.
hi
hello!
What does ‘ frustrated phagocytosis ‘ mean?
tyy everyone for the info and ty doc @vast girder for the information 😄
Eating in frustation i do that a lot 😂😂jk
Yeah I read that in the end it’s not all that competitive to get into medicine because people realise after being a premed for a few years that they don’t want to do it anymore. I saw somewhere one time there was a statistic that in AUS the mass majority (80-90%) of undergrad applicants to medicine stopped pursuing it after they got denied for an undergrad combined program. Also is it good to work jobs in a hospital while being a premed, even if it’s helping move stuff / any number of labouring jobs?
guys india has ran out ofoxygen cylinders and the second wave of coronavirus has hit our country, around 3,236,000 are dying in the last 24 hours, pls give donations for ooxygen cylinders, the conditions are very critical,,the patients are dying right in front of the helpless doctors, because of lack of oxygen.....im currently in a hospital, and i see people waiting in line to get a bed, as there are shortage of beds as well, pls help niebouring countries, and forighn countries, my uncle has got covid positive and only 1 oxygen cylinder is left for him which will last for only 1 hour pls help.....😭 😭 😭
My uncle actually died last Saturday due to lack of oxygen and medicines
I would say if you get to network with the doctors and hospital staff there, then yes. If not then just save your time to study.
Hi! Is there a website or something with mnemonics / anki cards / notes available to print / study for step 2 (medical exam)?
this may be a pointless question but can someone explain to me the difference between exertional and functional dyspnea, please?
Hello, does anybody have any idea on research conferences? I'm about to attend one tomorrow.
I’m just curious, is there any med students from Germany here? 🙂
@tranquil axle @proud sable There’s lots of doctors and med students on here from other countries. The (MBBS / MBChB / BMBS) / MD / DO courses across the world are almost identical in every country. Don’t need to specially ask for one country.
The courses around the world are not that identical. I’ve compared between 3 countries before my application. The exams we have, and structures of the curriculum are quite different.
Also I’m studying med in Germany, I asked because I just wanted to know if there are others here, that I can talk to and ask about specific things 🙂
And because I was curious.
I'm a med student from Portugal, it's 6 years in total here
exactly, I'm from Italy and the reason for which I asked this, is to know more information about the specialistic program
Really I was pretty sure that almost everywhere was Med y1,2,3,4, with some degrees cramming into 3 years and some extending to 5/6
With y1,2,3,4 being broadly the same across all countries?
I am a pre med student in Philippines we have y1,2,3,4
after 4 years of pre med ofc
Yeah I was pretty certain because I’ve looked at U.K., US, AUS and RUS med schools and all of them are broadly the same. So I’d be very surprised if IT and GE are doing it differently.
exertional dyspnea ocurrs due to physical effort in a kinda "lungs and airways cant catch up with the exercise rate" way. functional dyspnea ocurrs due to emotional distress such as high states of anxiety- so there s nothing really visceral about it, more like psychological. that s how i understand it
thank you so much!!
i m newbie in the medical field ...and i m highly fascinated by brain and and how its works ....can u pls tell me what courses i can take after my MBBS
Physician Assistant here! (United States)
Nice to meet you all.

It's my 2nd attempt hope I make it
you can do it 💪
any paramedics here lol?
anatomy is killing me😩
same here man
can anybody here help with pharmacology i am more inclined toward every mechanism than remebering fact from sketchy
I'm a MSc in Medicine student, writing a thesis on a paramedic subject

If I wanted to start young on my medical journey, what subjects/courses should I look into for High School?
Hi guys, 3rd year Med school from Brazil here

Is there any dental medicine student here
Or any medical major
hi, I'm Italian too
where are u from? what city?
hello fellow medics 🙂
Hi medics! I'm a med biotech student and am having a module on clinical chem. My team have a task on explaining the results received from the panel tests on a diabetic patient as shown, however we're having issues explaining as to why the triglycerides level is normal (shouldn't it be increased or decreased? idk 😦 ) and also coming up with a backstory to explain her state of condition. Currently, we postulate that she's able to maintain her lifestyle and diet and just entered the symptomic stage of type 1 diabetes which has caused her to enter diabetic ketoacidosis, but we're also playing around with the idea of a possible infection to explain about her extreme hyperglycaemia. I would very much appreciate it if you could give me some input on how to solve this nutcase!! (DMs are welcome :D)
is anyone here a physical therapist?
how many years 2 become surgeon?
Is coffee good?
hi! i'm starting my undergraduate studies next year and i was wondering whether do the internships in med school pay you? i'm rather interested in med school but my main concern is student loans 😬
i did ask a few of my friends; some say yes and others no? not entirely sure about it + it's not really stated in the uni prospectus
i was also considering biomedical sciences as a backup just because the course fees is a lot cheaper- i don't think one of them is easier than the other, but to be completely honest i'm not sure if i want to work with patients or not because of how much accountability i have ==
good as in delicious? depends of who you ask. healthy? nope
Ok, btw I don't need it to wake whole night
I'm night owl 🦉
Is the sun bigger than the earth?
unnhhh.... uh .. yeahh.... uh helll yeahhhh....
Depend on frame of reference lol
Shit... I didn't think it through. My bad XD
Haha, good luck next time xD
Hi there idk if yall rmb but I'm the same bitch who accidentally sliced her finger yesterday. I wanted to ask (I just took off bandage), is it bad to have have a tiny but totally visible blood clot under slightly healed cuts? Like it's there but under skin but like an black ish ant sized dot....is its bad?
That shouldn’t be bad, i think
Icic tyyy

Anyone preparing for step 1 for the next month? Looking for a study partner
Step 1?
United States medical licensing examination step 1
Hey
hey! i am lets partner up
depends, for most u have to pay
hmmm ty! i'll keep that in mind
even if i plan to study med locally it's still pretty expensive zz
Sounds good
hey
can anyone tell me what purpose of stomata is?
I though photosynthesis occured in stomata but it takes place in mesophylls
stomata helps in exchange of gases
basically allows the plant to take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen for photosynthesis
Exchange of gas and transpiration
do chemical signals travel though the membrane of a neuron and then through the synapse or is it all within the cell membrane?
chemicals signals travel the neuron membrane into the synaptic cleft and from there through the membrane of the cell that is supposed to recieve the signal
@tardy nimbus and the synaptic cleft only connects synapses to dendrites?
umm, not necessarily. the synaptic cleft is literally a really small place between tha axon of the neuron and the body of the other cell(which can also be another neuron)
Thanks!
Hello i'm Gita, clinical student of dental medicine from Indonesia👋
Is anyone here studying or working in dentistry/dental medicine? 😀
Hey! I'm Krizia. I finished med school five years ago and work. I do science work in my free time. 👋
Any tips on how to study for the physician board exam? 🥲
hi, anybody here?? can someone here explain for me the mechanism of breast cancer? having some problems for my essay
especially the effects of cholesterol and the LXR ligands
eyyy
@ancient bridge i'm dental student but i don't think i can help much since i'm just first year 😄
Hii🥰 No problem at all!! we can always discuss and be friend😁 would like to have more friend in the same field
i'm only a second year student so i'll tell you what i do know:
basically LXR ligands are molecules derived from cholesterol (some of them at least) like estrogens, androgens, eccetera. estrogen and progesterone are able to induce the proliferative pathway in breast cells, stimulating the EGF pathway leading to MAPK activation as an example
this could lead to the proliferation of the cells, and if we're in a situation in which reparative systems of DNA are altered then it could result in DNA damage due to errors during duplication of DNA during mytosis. Accumulating more and more damage could lead to breast cancer. We could say that some LXR ligands have a role in accelerating the cancer growth. i mentioned only the MAPK pathway but you must also consider that the eterodimers such as LXR-ER (estrogen receptor) and LXR-PR (progesterone receptor) lead also to cell proliferation in the breast tissue.
i know my english is not the best but i hope i helped anyway
this was really cool @stark lichen thanks!
helllo @proud sable
I'm a med student from switzerland and I plan on doing my 4th year in Italy (ERASMUS) in bologna, how is it there if you know?
since yall study for medic
i have a question
so i do mma and stuff
do you guys know how i can heal very fast
idk if you can necessarily speed up your healing process
but you can try getting plenty of rest and protein and carbs to get your regain energy and help w healing
also analgesics to help w pain
well in karate kid, they did the chinese fire cup technique thing. does that help? lol
Any tip how to study anatomy and physiology in 20 days , I have exams coming up
uhm to study anatomy, videos can help a lot or apps where you can visualize the anatomical parts
and for physiology I think videos work too
hello! Bologna is a beautiful city, and it is full of students! there's plenty of pubs, and places to eat. I guess there's also a lot to do in the nighttime! totally recommend!
i've been only a couple of days but i'm in love with the city
the only downside is that in italy you get to do very small practice as a medical student
For med students, what is your studying method? With your method, honestly, how much time do you need to study 10 pages (just to have a measure) and how long can you retain the information learned?
I use to study with Anki, creating cards from lectures (+ researches). I take from 1.5 to 2.5 hrs to study 10 pages (reading + creating cards + memorizing cards). I retain the information forever, as I keep repeating also after the exam.
I feel 1.5/2.5 hrs per 10 pages are too much, so I would like to know your methods to understand if I can do anything to improve the efficiency without sacrificing the quality too much. Thank you for everyone who shares his experience/suggestion
LOL, I speend like 4 hours for an iteam, ´cause i take notes and draw the things im reading,
Heyy! I'm a dental student too
Contrast therapy is very good
Apply ice bags to the effected area
(Wherever you feel sore)
for 5 mins
Then dip in hot water for 4 mins
Then cold for for 4
Hot for 3
And so on
And an ice bath once a month really helps
Also
Try training bare feet and bare chested
Spartan style lol
Jokes apart
Your proprio reception develops
And immunity develops too,
Especially if the weather is a lil extreme
Like raining, or a bit hot
Don't take it tok hard
And don't do something too dangerous
Stay within your limits
Hope this helps!
Thank you very much bro 🙂 can't wait to go there !!!!
hhh don't worry about it, same in Switzerland we have so little practice :/
do you speak italian also?
Hi, i was reading a paper and i found this term: "cotargeting" does someone know what does it mean? (i´m not a native english speaker)
I don't (unfortunately) 😦 I'm from the French speaking part of switzerland but I plan on going your language the year before leaving
I'm not from Ticino 😉
thank you mate, this could help a lot
Hi! Lets be friend🥰
i'll answer you using an example: "the drug is cotargeting receptor A and B and C ecc.". it means that it can act on both B and A and C. if you think about A as the "target" (adress) of the drug, it is saying that it (the drug for example or whatever is the subject in your paper) also acts on another target which is B or B and C ecc.
very happy to help
I think I got it, thank you!
i appericate this, thanks a lot
anyone here has read atomic habits????
i had
What is that?
Looks intresting
About cell?
Anyone here has read clinical chemistry?
Or harison's?
It is a self help book and it talks about habits , developing habits etc ...
Hey which country is best for MBBS?
I need that book where can i read it
I really need that book
Im trying to get many things as a habit
It's there on Amazon
You can get it from there
Idk about online free pdf's may not be safe
Ok thanks
I was searching for that book for a long time actually
i just brutally stabbed
do as you will medics
do as you will
there can only be one
For MBBS the highest quality education in the world is probably (English) The United Kingdom (German) Switzerland / Germany / Austria after than only countries teach their language in their country.
For MD United States / Australia
I’ll be taking human anatomy for the first time soon and I’m pretty nervous lol. Does anyone have study tips/resources? I’d greatly appreciate it :))
I'm 5th year med student which means I'm almost done!:) First of all, dont be nervous. I was too but looking now it was pretty unnecessary. The names are long but once you understand the words's meanings you start to recognize them easier. Also I bought Sobotta it's good. Definitely go prepared to that day's practice subject you will learn and remember them x200 easier. I watched YouTube videos sometimes, downloaded some anatomy apps they are pretty good. I must say the secret is repeat them as possible as you can. At first you may dont understand cause everything gonna be new but with time you will be a pro in it.
Would you recommend it?
I've just ordered the book myself
I'll let ya know after I finish reading it!
But really,
Opinions always differ and even if I end up finding it as good as I expected it to be
You might like it better than I did
So ig you should read it too :)
"I must say the secret is repeat them as possible as you can." This can work, but it's completely inefficient. Read something about spaced repetition. When you learn something you just need to repeat it twice, then you will repeat it again after 2-4 days, then again after 4-7 days and so on - no reason to repeat everything everyday. Moreover, avoid learning things without first understanding them.
Surgeon tearm at college take 7-8 years right?
Average 5years without med school.
No of course that isn't what I meant. Of course firstly you should understand it but if you dont repeat it. it's so easy to forget. Generally most of the things in med school like that. With repeat everything get easier and permanent :)
Ok nice
Sure. I'm only at 1st year so you probably know even better than me. I was just suggesting to learn what "spaced repetition" is because it's not something you get taught at school - but is basically how our memory works and can improve your efficiency so much.
Good night guys
I think it's brilliant and effective for especially med school. So thank you for your suggesting:)
Hello, not sure if it’s the right chat but are there any dental students here?
I am
oh thats cool, where are u from and which year?
Brunei, first year
nice to meet u, i'm 6th year (last year in my dental school) feel free to ask me for anything 👍
ohh nice!!! 🤩
from which country
Hey can anyone help me with gizmo stem case for cellular respiration??
Please let me know, thank you!
saudi arabia
نروح علي المحادثة الغير أنجليزية؟
hmm so you want the chance of a polygenetic disease?
mathematically you can sum up chances
not disease
so for each gene a square
oh traits like, having a big nose?
you can make a square as big as u want
so the chance that u have brown hair and a big nose
well it also depens on wheter there is a unique polygenic combination or na
theyre on different chromosomes
make the full square
Thats the full square there are no other possible combinations for AAbb
only Ab
except if im doing the whole square wrong
thats not a square
square is same lenght as width in number of subsquares in this case
yeah
being 16subsquares for 2genes with 2options
zo the unique combination of these genes (2ops) is 1/16
since the 2nd parent has no a these combinations go away
well all the progenies will be AA or Aa
damn i cant explain it in english xD
just show me the square and ill understand xD
yeah thats what i did too lol i just didnt do the wholse square
yea u simplified
okay thank u
i just wanted clarificartion and make sure i did it correct
can u get the chances out if this square?
yeah
for example give me the chance of aaBb
aaBb is 0%
here you gave the possible combinations, not the chances
cant u get the chances out of the possible combinations ?
well there are 4 possible combinations right?
yes
and none are the same
but chances are different b/c some combinations can happen in two ways (doubles in our square)
AAbB and AABb are genetically the same
so thats 2/8 sqaures
they have the same result
yes
thats why you use teh square to get the chances
u have 6 outcomes
so your initial "square" was also wrong
yes so 25% for AABb, 25% for AAbb, 25% for AaBb and 25% for Aabb
also is there a reason that u even write aB and ab since a doesnt exist in P2?
?
wait where are u from ?/
okay yeah
these 8 options were vanished bc one of the parentes didn't have the gene
agreed
this should be the full excercise
greece
oh no i aint greek haha
in european countries we have handwriting uhm how do you call it
cursive handwriting?
Where are you from?
Im 4th y medical
oh alright i wanna be at med college too
noice, it's an amazing field of study
no doubt yeah
human body in all it's details, like being an engineer of the corpus
dayumn
you don't wanna give away where you from hehe? and what do you study in middle/high school?
ow so you are
why did u ask me again lol
misunderstood that part haha
youre the one whos not giving away where he is from lol
Belgian
we study mendel, mitosis, viruses, dna replication
and other stuff
for the exams that get u into colleg
you but like your class, u choose a certain curriculum
Like mathematics sciences
Latin
Latin greek
Like in belgium when you get 12 you go to "middle school" until you are 18, you choose between economics mathematics/modern languages or sciences/mathematics or latin
and at what age do u get into colleg
when you get your middle school degree so when you are about 17-19
only for medical school you need to pass a certain exam
all other colleges and studies you can just subscribe and start, not even that expensive
something similar here as well but in order to get into college u write exams
on the field u chose
and college is free...
i like ur "EU" And the chances it offers
yea it is
most type of freedom, but like freedom for ALL layers of the hierarch classes
EU is the best part of the world if you parents cant give u chances bc of ilness or being broke or whatever, you can still make it
that is true yeah
nuancing that make it doesnt mean to earn a lot of money, cuz i dont like that idea of "making it"
but it is possible
USA has a lot of freedom but that just makes it easier for the rich cause they can abuse that freedom to get it their way
EU keeps people between certain lines, which seem to be necesarry
that happens everywhere lol, but especially in the us
US is just lucky they owe like 70% (just giving a number) of the worlds economic wealth
like even when you low class in US you are globally top 10
10%, if you know what I mean
yeah but they have good wconomy so ?
japan has a huge debt but they dont struggle
But if global power shifts and US loses economical power/Wealth, a lot of people will get broke bc of disbalance between classes there
the biggest reason the west is doing good is bc they get the wealth from elsewhere hehe
Russian and China trying to shift that
we cant take it for granted
its about having a good economic plan
no doom thinking or anything hehe
Ye bu our economic plans are base of important from low wealth countries
i wouldnt want to live in china persoanlly
but people dont realize that could shift
them being the global rich population and we'll become their low wealth import
thats what the russian and chinese threat is
calm down u;ll get banned lol
they want to undermine our economics/politics so they can get these advantages we got after the WW2 and cold war
no no no opinions just thinking about global power balances
im pro EU and freedom of speech
its just vulnerable, especially when people arent aware of it
yes but this server has rules
true
I let myself escape hahah
- No political/controversial topics including false information about the covid-19 pandemic, vaccines and other topics. This server is a safe space for anyone no matter their age, sexual orientation, skin colour, culture, etc. This means racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. is NOT allowed under any circumstances.
I apologize
no problem just dont get carried away that the EU is the hero.
no not the hero haha
we gonna die some day dont think about it too much XD
Just one of the best in the impossible pursue to get a good way of governing :p
well yea thats why life is worth a loy
yes with central power
just, we take a lot for granted
true yeah ]
we only look to our close neighbours or only those with a lot of wealth, but globally
its just hypocretic haha idk, so being grateful
well its logical, money makes the world go round xD
But yeah we should appreciate what we have especially those who actually have something
yea that's a shame
most are driven by money/wealth especially those in power bc those two are related
and being driven by something often comes with losing certain values
moral values
yeah i know if we were all ethical and moral there wouldnt be any problems
but we just the players haha, hate the game not the players
but it like to play in a better game :p
i'd*
Of you want to become a Medical Doctor, these values of moral and ethical are worth a lot
Hipocrates?
yy
The greek
yes are u taking the oath ?
home country of many things lol
Medical school is 6 in belgium
together with the specialty??
true but there is an example of shift of global wealth/power
oof
Greek culture was one of the biggest in history and know yea its good but yea haha
yeah nobody appreciates and looks at the past
no no specialty raises from min 3y-6y
and additionaly specialties to those 6y like ceratin types of subspecialisation in surgery
like forensics?
noice, quite uncommon tho
I very much liked the dissections we had
but like on real dead pps
fascinating the human body
but like coroner is a real challenge, you need to know all the basics of the human body and than act like a detective to find the default
I need to get back to studying haha, have a greaat day
same man glad to chat with u
it s basically when your lymfocyte B cells that get in contact with bacteria viruses (antigenes really) that float in your plasma. The B cells will bind through receptors to the pathogen and synthesise antibodies
ahhh ok thank you so muchh
Humoral immunity
Th-cells are also quite import to keep in mind
but yea humoral immunity is actually your B-cells secreting antibodies which can neutralize, opsonizate and complement activation pathogens
this activates when antigens (parts of the pathogen, bacteria) are presented in the extracellular fluid
They bind to your B-cells so do the Th-cells, so this B-cell now know hmm this specific antigen comes from a specific pathogen, if i want to find it so we can killed i should make some markers liek antibodies
it then secretes these antibodies who'll bind to the pathogen linked to the presented antigen
this B-cell now is called a plasma-cel cause it secretes specific antibodies
This is a part of the adaptive immunesystem
Humoral immunesystem refers actually to the antibodies itself in the extracellularfluid chasing these pathogens
Oh yea these antibodies are also known as the immunoglobins like IgA, IgG, IgE, IgM
these Y shaped proteins
dang, super interesting haha it is worth some extra information I'm sorry
This is actually interesting in modern medicine and its evolution in immunotherapy, where we use the immunesystem to cure/palliate diseases
Biological therapy - Monoclonal antibodies creation
So these antibodies are produced in the laboratory and used as medication for example against certain types of cancer, medication names ending with -mab (monoclonal anti body)
@olive wasp if you have questions I am happy to answer
yea sure
Hello everyone 🙂 i have an anatomy exam in just a little over two months, where I’m supposed to know all the anatomy except neuroanatomy and honestly I feel a bit lost and overwhelmed while studying because there’s just so much I have to know. Do you guys have any tips on how to study anatomy?
It’s an oral exam too, they give us a few topics and we have to talk about them and they can ask direct questions too
use the book netter flashcards hope it helps
thank you!
Keep in mind anatomy is a subject of images, you need to learn as much image as you can. By this way (learn through images), you can cover several sections at a time
I'll show you an example
this image is contained a lot of information, you can remember the oral, larynx, spinal cord,... in one image
so the more image you remember, the better you understand anatomy
Indeed key thing of anatomy is visualization. But you gotta simply know the names. Knowing some latin details can help you get far bc mostly it is a direct translation or logical word. Repeat, repeat, repeat, just get your brain to know "the surroundings" like when you go in your house, room, you can name aaallll the items, same thing, same kind of memory. Look to the human body as if you are walking trough your house and you give people a tour and name everything.
Study in terms of flashcards/quizes, easy fun kinda way with little mental exhausted
in your further clinical study years you will be so used to the anatomy bc it repeats itself and it feels like basically walking in your house
so just calm down and get to it, you will feel comfortably with it, within a short period of time
search playstore and internet for anatomy quizes 😉
@proud sable
the mouse’s splenocytes going oop
lol the reaction is cute
For anatomy I usually draw everything while studying, eventually making some notes on a big paper and putting them in my wall or something
I also watch a lot of youtube channels that explain everything clearly unlike my teachers haha
there should be someone who starts a university globally, just out of youtube channels isntead of teachers/professors
I swear YES
some of my drawings
the realistic version of them are usually rarely happening because I waste time doing them so I end up with small sketches that take up 5 minutes to do lol
that is actually outstanding
cant even find the words, big props
Can imagine it takes a lot of time to create this art
if you can draw it this precisely it will for sure be visualized in your brain
you know you have an excellent skill
if you find the right people who are creating atlases etc you can help them with your drawings, you could earn good money on this
thank you ^^
yeah, drawing them (even not in detail) helps to not forget them
like for example new surgical approaches but visualized with good drawings etc
I’m actually thinking about it
indeed.
plus that I want to become a surgeon myself.
get in contact with your university or affiliate hospital an the surgeons/researchers
its a good bonus for your portfolio
chances are high with such great skill (hand motoric) of drawing and the insight of your anatomia
really flabergasted wow
U did artschool?
I will actually do it after this year, since it my last pre-clinical year and everything becomes less theoretical and more practical (not that we are not already doing hospital shifts but they are too little)
nope, never ever even took one art lesson or something
dang u are gifted
wow these are insane, also like the chocolates in the back... to keep up that glicemia of course
use it
I was a math and computer programming major in high-school 🤷🏻♀️
thank you, you are very nice ^^
thank you and yeah haha I always have a source of glucose next to me
i didnt know that was possible computer programming? or you mean high school like college 18+?
oh, I also do such “A3 notes” for other subjects such as immunology.
I also love using anki for others
drawing is really helpful when studying
You from spain/portugal?
i love immunology visualized in drawings
I can draw a little when i really focus on the picture and copy
From where did u get the C1?
I’m from Romania.
Even if we do like 18 different subjects in high-school, we can chose a majore (so we do extra classes for those)
In the third pic
university. here all students can get real bones from the university or from other students. I had a full skeleton as well
that’s very pretty
Damn........
I usually draw portraits and eventually sell them
Want to have it finished when I graduate lol
Too bad I fkd up the canvas haha
but id like to buy an artwork of you someday
Cool
sure, I’d love to give you one
Yes we also used real human bones and cadres, think almost al universities to that nowadays
Yeah but sadly i didn't get the chance to go to uni because of covid
yeap. it’s good that they give them to you so you can study them at home as well
I have a lot of typos bc of lack of brain power bc of studying too much lately haha
I went to uni all the time even in the pandemics
Which year ?
that’s unhealthy but still very good somehow 🤨
thats really bad :/
2nd
Yeah the 2nd year do go to uni
But we don't by we i mean first year students
we had online courses and practical lessons on campus or in the hospital
that’s sad
Yup
4th year here
same about the courses
yuhuu you are soon to be done
within 3days major exam of gastrology and endocrinology
within half a year senior stages hehe
it’s the last year in your case or still have 2 more?
How was Genetics?
lovely
its 6yrs for the degree of Medical Doctor, Master of Science in Medicine
same, know nothing tho
same here
yea you learn the most from practical use in the hospital
but in US there’s 4 + the pre-med years
exactly
yeah, really
but its shifting to become more practical during academical years
Im starting to feel more like developing a clinical mind
U are the first human that says that to me
.....how
I didn't take it yet btw
The upper students....said it was a nightmare
I really like subjects that are complicated so I don’t get bored.
Plus it’s extremely interesting how some unmatching alleles or some random accidents in the cellular cycle can change everything about your body’s anatomy and physiology
The family trees were also fun
you need to find the why and that way you'll find it more pleasant to get to know this information, even a hard subject becomes tolerable that way
Noted
Just like immunology
A hell of a subject but I absolutely adore it
I will take it in the third semester (i mean immunology)
Immunology is crazy haha, but it has key role in future medicine so every medical doctor should know it fairly well
........
inmunology=inflammation 😆
Ahahhaha
hmm, I'll drop some steroids and i'll stop haha
here some wall notes by moi
And I'm here struggling with anatomy
you must put a lot of effort and time in your studies wow
my roommate as well, (she’s actually sleeping now)
I am studying anatomy now as well
I do, but I truly enjoy it
Good luck to u and ur sleepy roommate
She is on another level
She reminds of someone
here, another school
I wasn’t even in medical school in this picture wow
To be or not to be that the question
Im too interest in everything to just being a medical student hehe
thank you 🥺
I love this
you made me pull out my old notes, I used to put a lot of effort ant time into them but nowadays I just make them digitally and not so colorful...
sooooo pretty
wow you people make me feel incompetent hahaha
1+
My old notes for cellular biology look similar
you should sit together and design the future theory books
notes don’t make someone more or less competent. I already know you’ll be an amazing doctor
no just estimate
Hmm.....
both types just diabetes
