Thats what i would choose @hard cedar let me know if u need further explanation i can try to explain
Also cause i gave u my answers but u should try to understand why it is one option and not the others so i would suggest u try for urself first and then check if i choose the same answer
to be fair, 17 should have a comma before it
I feel like it isn't fair to leave out the right punctuation
and I confirm that what SC20 put is what I would put as well
Don't pay too much attention to that fact. That's a very old-fashion rule that only few people know, and even they don't apply it
Thank you for your reply, and yes i'll keep that it mind
that makes sense because i've never really heard it used with the amount of specificity that was in that article i screenshotted lol
can someone help me with my homework?
post it
the question 34, below are the answers
by
HAS ANYONE GOT ANY RESOURCES FOR
CLASS 10
HINDI
ENGLISH
TERM 1 CBSE?
Any Korean?
I really wanna learn Korean sometime in my life
I'm studying Korean
And English
That's so cool! I could never
It's really fun to learn
I'm studying French and next year Spanish
Anyone learn German here?
Also a language I wanna learn, I speak Dutch and Dutch and German are quite similar
oh ya
it's actually quite difficult for me
Yeah I get that
Hiii!
Is it “je suis étudiante” or “je sui-sé-tudiante “?
Yup
no but i'm a mother tongue 😵💫
do you mean in terms of pronounciation or in terms of writing? the accent should be on the e if you're wondering how to write that, but if you want to know how to pronounce it, the stressed syllable is 'étu'
Hi !
Written "Je suis étudiante"
Pronunced "Je suizétudiante"
-> The last s in "suis" acts as a "liaison", which is pronunced z and links "suis" to the vowel é of "étudiante")
But you could also pronunce it "Je sui(h) étudiante" and that would be okay, it doesn't sound that wrong in this case
In terms of pronunciation
Thank you!
Got it!
Thank you!
Lucky 🍀
if you need any help with the grammar i can help sometimes🥺
Thank you so much 🥺🥺
I've a friend I can ask him
no worries ^^
please do
thanks!
Okok
I’m not Korean but i can help~
Can someone help me with a german exam?
.
I have the same question, even if you can afford using the internet everyday, how do you make sure that the information you're learning is actually acurrate? Especially for pronounciation?
This is a great question! Knowing what’s right and wrong when learning a language is very hard. However luckily, there are many resources that teach the same things.
When im unsure about what im learning, or when I don’t fully understand how it was explained- i would go to another resource so it can hopefully explain it better.
Learning pronunciation should be more listening based when learning. Watching variety shows, watching youtube videos of a native speaker, podcasts.
There are apps like HiNative and Hellotalk where you can ask native’s questions about something you are unsure about as well
hmm tbh the easiest method for me is to read texts on the grammar, practice the usage and repeat the process until i have it internalized
First learn the basics: classic — duolingo, you may use flashcards and then try to look for easy to understand music/series in that language.
I recommend the SLOWLY app where you can chat with people all over the world, you could always write to someone in their language and ask them for letting you know if you made any mistakes while maintaining a cool friendship ^^
Maybe unconventional but I feel so good writting letters in czech or english to other people and learning something new about these languages, cultures and people who know them!
i answered u trough my phone but i just opened my laptop and i realised i cnt see my answer here, lmk if u can read what i wrote
ah nevermind u posted it on two different chats aahaha
I wanna know how to say "promise me that u won't go anywhere"in korean.cuz I'm working on some group project in Korean class!
Does anyone speak German and want to help me translate something plsss
if its not too long i could help
It's a bit long but when I tried Google translating it I got a bit confused. I'll send it anyway but no worries if you can't do it or if it's too long.
Bern, 26.11.2021 - the new found virus variant B.1.1.529 is giving reason to worry. It appears to hold more mutations, than other variants that are currently known. The WHO scaled (not sure how to translate that) this variant as 'troublesome'. There is a possibility that the currently used vaccines are as effective against this variant. The Bund took measures in Switzerland, in hopes of lessening the spread of the variant. People flying in from Southafrica, Hongkong, Israel and Belgium have to show a negative covid test and go in a 10 day long quarantine. If the people are not Swiss citizen it is permitted to let them inside the country.
something like that. basically theres a new covid variant, the vaccines are probably not effective against it and people from Southafrica, Hongkong, Israel and Belgium cant fly to Switzerland rn unless they are citizens
Oh! Thank you so so much!! This is so helpful ! Thank you!!
np!
.
I believe its 아무데도 안가겠다고 약속해요
Omg thank u smmmmm mwah
Vocabulary - Notes + Anki
Grammar - Book or Website with example how to use it (i use Tae Kims Guide for Grammar in Japanese)
Speaking and Listening - Music, Series, Apps, Podcasts, News, Practice with Native Speaker
Overall - I could do most of that with an minimum of Internet
Just need to take few screenshots and download few Videos and after this i wouldnt need any Internet
oh right anki is very helpful as well
did you try to do it?

hey everybodyyy, I've just started to learning japanese, any advices?
stick to it even if it seems hard at first. at uni every semester has at least 100 students in the japanese beginner course but eventually it thins out to 30-50 people because the rest gives up 😭
and make sure to not switch your practice and grammar books too often, otherwise you'll trap yourself into a cycle of looking for stuff instead of studying
My main language is turkish but there is not enough turkish-japanese resources:( I think my english is not good enough but I will try to use english resources. It will be hard:(( I hope I dont give up<3
good luck 🥺 and if you really want to do it, maybe think about investing in a language course with a real teacher 🥺 studying on your own can lead to mistakes and demotivation
I can help you if you want
Actually I am thinking about that, if I can't deal with it by myself, definitely I will find a teacher. Thanks for nice advices💫
oh thanku
where r u from?
Turkey
Hello, I need help with German, would prefer a native speaker. I need someone to tell me which verbs go with sein and which go with haben in perfect(perfekt) tense and how are those verbs in perfect tense. For an example I give you bestellen and you write me: goes with haben and it is bestellt in perfect tense. I also need help with "Die gemischte Adjektivdeklination" and "Die schwache Adjektivdeklination". I can't understand those two, so I would need an explanation. And I need help with translating some adjectives.
The verbs are: bekommen, besuchen, bestellen, aufstehen, bleiben, sterben, geboren, einschlafen, passieren, kommen, gehen, fahren, fliegen, reisen.
The adjectives are:
dynamich, konservativ, konservativ, kreative, sensibel, oberflächlich, alternativ, kalt, gründlich, autoritär, fantasiearm, faul.
I know it is much but I really need your help. Hit me up in DM if you can help me.
Hi guys, I need help with Old English. How to translate "sciphere strenȝran wiȝena" to modern English? Couldn't find anything olnine :\
I guess the first two words has something to do with "strong fleet", but the second word is a mystery for me
mmh i don't know Old english but if you know where that occurence is from, there is probably a translation in modern english out there
how do you spell the male version of hypocrite in spanish, is it hipócrito
tbh there's not a real explanation behind it i think, you just have to memorize the right perfect tense
hipócrita for both genders
Should I buy a story book of the language I am learning ? Will it help ?
maybe buy two, one with a new story and one with a story you already read in your mother tongue
that can help, but it depends on your learning style
Read kids books/cartoons! Something like Calvin and Hobbes which is easy to read and understand
Thanks 👍
I started reading peanuts has been really helpful tho
guysss does anyone have the teacher book of this Skillful Reading & Writing Level 4, i need it so to check my answer but cant find anywhere, thank you so muchhhhhh <333
hey, did you already get help with it?🤔
hey guys, i need help with an english sentence! So, the scenario is that there is an abandoned ship swimming in the sea close to a beach and a man goes diving to there. So do i say: "In the hope of finding something useful at a ship IN the sea, ..." or "In the hope of finding something useful at a ship ON the sea, ..." ?😳
hey! so this is a very interesting case!! i am American so english is my first language and even i became unsure of what word to use at first, so don't worry too much!! I think many people would actually say "In hope of finding something useful at a ship on the sea" but another way to phrase this could actually be "He hoped to find something useful in the ship at sea" the phrase "at sea" means the same as being on or in the sea!! "in the sea" makes it sound much like the ship has sunk below the sea in my opinion but it is up to interpretation!!
Thank you so much for your answer! This is really helpful😊
hi guys i need help in my essay "schoolchildren should sometimes have history lessons at historical sites". historical sites means historical places right?

Yes, historical places are like places built in ancient times

I appreciate your kindness

i need a little more info, do you need to write an analysis on an exerpt, a book or a theme in particular (including multiple sources)?
And is it for general litterature /english class or do you have a more defined focus (like a seminar on the gothic novel for example)?
its like a text about globalization or something. And then the task is to analyse this text (style, rhetorical devices, tone, art ) etc.... but the text is nonfictional! yesterday we had a text which the Author has included more cons then pros. And with this given Information i tryed to analyse the intention of it. I hope you understand it better
Structure wise it should look like 1. Introduction 2. The body of the analysis (with 2 or 3 main arguments, roughly) and 3. Conclusion (that’s the most rigid/academic form, if your teachers are more flexible you could have another form but it’s generally this one)
My teacher says that analysis are unique so i dont have any clue to understand it xDDD
As anything you analyse you should always be mindful (and collect clues) about the time period, the context, maybe the author's personnal life (as in ideology, main works or how they had an impact on some subject for example
then you should try to extract one main thesis from the text (rarely two if it's a short text), meaning the centre of the argument, the main direction, or the main question that is encompassing all the text
ohhh okk
if you can't at first you should focus on what you think the keywords of the exerpt are, and be very precise with the definition and how the author uses them, how and why
i understand now. Thankssss!!!!!! :DDD
haha and as for the literary devices, the tone, the examples you use
it's good if you find them and are able to "listen" to the text (its rythme, the anaphoras, or the assonnances etc...)
BUT you should ALWAYS mention them with an explanation of what effects they have on the text, on the reader, on how the author/narrator is then percieved
same as the examples you quote, they should serve how you write your point/ argument
Do you know any bilingual English / German books that you can recommend and are for free?
i remember studying english with a bilingual sherlock holmes book ages ago but i don't know if it's available for free anywhere :,)
In general, what do you guys assume to be the best way to learn a new language? Any recommendations?
Through repetition and talking, i guess
hey guysss can anyone send me english book for the translate????? tysmmm
Check the pinned comments. This topic has already been discussed many times and I'm sure you will find an answer for your question.
What do you mean by that ?
@obtuse elk thank u :)
i want to say i need a book to translate :)))))))
You mean like a translation book ? Why dont you use google translate or other sites.
Or do you want an english book to just randomly translate ? Like a Novel or a science book ?
Any geniuses in German here? i need to correct, and argue for the correcection, on the word "bekommen" in the following question, but i'm kind of lost: "Bewerberinnen und Bewerber, von denen Arbeitgeber einen positiven Eindruck bekommen, können davon ausgehen, später angestellt zu werden."
Thanks, in the task I need to find another form of the word, or replace it.
I'm not sure if there are better words for it tho. You can use ,, einen positiven eindruck** hinterlassen**[...]" but then you have to form a new sentence.
You can use ,,gewinnen"
Thanks, i asked one of my fellow classmates, he said it should be "bekommt" because it is referring to third a singular instead of pluralis
tbh as a mother tongue it doesn't really make a difference to me?? all three options are right
How do you learn grammar?
hey guys i'm learning chinese
I need a buddy whom i can communicate with in chinese. Anyone interested?
Please guys who can help me for writing a paragraph I have an English exam tomorrow?!!! ❤️
it might be more helpful if you can tell in details what u need help with 🙂
I think "bekommt" would not be right, only if you change it to "der (or einen) Arbeitgeber", because in its current state the sentence speaks of multiple employers.
Two paragraphs one talking of intelligence and other famous and celebrity 🙂!
Quick question, is it ok to say the following in russian?
Это моя мама и папа
Would i have to add мой because of папа?
Would bullying and retaliating back be a case of internal, or external conflict?
I'm leaning more on the external side honestly
You can also say "Это мои мама и папа" then you wouldn't have to add anything. if you want to be specific say "Это моя мама а/и это мой папа"
Ok thank you
Hey guys am learning Korean anyone here that can help?
What do you need help with?
like what are the typical ones used for normal conversation
am studying the letters but not in terms of pronouncing them yet
Anyone study English linguistics here?
Ah vocabulary? I believe the 500 most commonly used Korean words is useful. Perhaps use Talk To Me In Korean as well to learn basic beginner grammar and vocabulary (they also include audios in each of their lessons)
oh ok ok I'll make sure to use it thankss
Anki + Immersion. Most of your time should be immersing in this language, it means watching content in the targeted language with subtitles (also in the targeted language) and reading.
Anki will help a lot with learning vocabulary at start, and when you are immersing at some point you can start sentence mining.
heyy does anyone have any suggestion to improve writing in english? i need to write a descriptive paragraph but i cant use adjectives effectively
Start by reading novels, try to find a type of author that focuses on environment description.
Writing could be hard if you don't have enough vocab, and adjectives improve your storytelling to the next level
could you recommend any of that authors if you know some good ones?? and thanks for replying! i follow your suggestions for sure
maybe you can ask in #book-recommendations chat
Perhaps another useful way to also help with your writing is to utilise the Thesaurus dictionary. There you can find several alternative synonyms for one adjective you have in mind, based on their specific contexts
That dictionary looks so great, I'm going to start using it!! Thank you!
No problemo, I'm glad it helps!
internal?
Somenone interested in helping me practicing english?
What specifically do you need? I can try....
Nothing in particular. Only talking everyday about anything, just like you do with a friend. And if u interested, I can help with spanish.
Oh wow it is admirable you know Spanish sure I can help with English
To people learning multiple languages, how do you differentiate the languages inside your head? Are there helpful ways to prevent one from messing up words and alphabets?
I can also help with this, in exchange for spanish lol
I think it depends on what languages you are trying to learn at the same time... ohhh and also the actual level that you have on each one of them, what languages are you trying to learn?
I mean, it's not the same learning English and Russian at the same time than learning Spanish and Italian. The latter could induce to mixing both languages due to both share the same latin roots
Hmm that's true. I am thinking of brushing up French and Dutch, while also wanting to start learning Spanish (probably too much on one plate). They all have Latin alphabets, which is a relief, yet they can easily be mixed up altogether...
You won't have any problems with French and Dutch at the same time. If you add Spanish, you will definitely have some troubles mixing French and Spanish, because latin roots. NOTE: latin roots =/= latin alphabet
languages that share latin roots are: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian (I think), Catalan
And if you are a native english speaker, the easiest ones are French and Dutch/German I would say
Ah okay, thank youu! I hope they are doable for non-native English speakers as well 🤞
Lol of course, but it is useful to know that english comes from a mix between french and some kind of German
The same it is useful to know which languages are latin languages
Once you learn one, let's say french, you can easily hop into another
yup roman colonisation 🤌 (ofc romanian is on the family hehe)
Wait, I might be mistaken, but Romanians are different from people originated from Rome, right?
yes yes, Romans are from Rome, and Romanian from Romania, and the language was heavily influenced by Roman (latin/ neo latin) colonisation hence the "family" of languages that are called Roman languages, and that share this component
uh what's ur level? i need one pen pal too
yes same goes for slavic languages 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Anyone of you who knows spanish???
yes yes yes
If anyone needs help with studying German, it’s my first language and I would love to help you out : )
im looking for a language buddy, for spanish
my current lvl is a2
i can help with english and/or hindi (spoken only, its been a while since i read or wrote smthg in hindi)

Hi everyone, I have an English assignment and I wrote this sentence, but I don't know if it is correct or not. Could you help me? "We already are the world leaders in delivery, however, the hustle does not stop here. We must stay one step ahead of all rivals!" I wanted to use the word hustle but idk if it works in this sentence.
I think it works well here
Oh really? thank you so much, I really wasn't sure!
Consider replacing rivals with contenders
Rest looks fine
Thank you very much! so contenders works like rivals? (I meant it like they are fighting against another company)

yea, its a synonym
and it is used in a professional aspect, so the para's tone is even throughout
hello can anybody explaing me the difference between "supposing" and "providing"?
Supposing is talking about things that are not certain, not for sure or directly confirmed ; "I suppose there will be cake at this event" or "Homer was supposedly a blind story teller", there are too many sources and no real proof that these things are true, they could be or not.
Providing is taking the information for true, confirmed, accepted: "he couldn't have killed mrs Smith provided he was in the hospital at that moment".
sorry, forgot to ping ^^
thanks, that helped me a lot. i hope i will pass my exam now xd
haha good luck!

Absolutely ~!
Hello guys, hope you're doing well. I'm searching for advice to keep motivation for learning a language, mostly when reaching a good level, enough good for learning to become tough as you don't know what to focus on. I studied English a lot, though I'm still far from being bilingual, but I don't know how to keep improving. I read, listen, watch and so on in English but I feel like I don't make any progress... Anyway, do you have some advice for me?
If you feel like you are not making any progress is probably because you stay in your comfort level zone of knowledge, with movies you know, accents you understand (without subs)...
Tackling different subjects in the target language may benefit you: anything that you know little to no of, like a collection of 18th century poetry to an in depth article about auto imune diseases, or a documentary about Minoan civilisation, whatever challenges your current level and makes you think in english.
You could also try creative writing so you actually have to think about the phrasing, the terminology or the way you make an idea click with another etc etc
The most challenging thing would probably be to talk and interact with natives alot, so your skills are put on the spot and you actually have to find a way to make sense of what you say even if you have a brain freeze or don't know a word. Of course immersion would be the "best" option, but you could change little things in your day to day like setting your devices in english only, or only talking to yourself in english?
Thanks for your precious advice. I already talk to myself in English but I guess that, indeed, I'm used to staying in my comfort zone as I never deal with new subjects but basic ones. I'll try this all out as soon as possible ^^ Btw poetry is such a good idea I hadn't thought of, and I'm curious about discovering English poets. Thanks again 🙂
no pb! poetry or anything literature really, if you go Shakespeare or Coleridge you surely will have a challenge 😄

does anyone know what "parcmètres" mean in french?
it's a parking paystation, mostly found on city streets, where you have to pay to park you car
giving a ticket stating when you arrived, and how long the ticket is valid for
Sure !
Yeah, they’re little machines next to parking lots. When you want to park your car you need to give the machine money and you’ll be able to park for a certain amount of time
im learning french for 10 years now and i can speak enough to live in france and work there. however, its still so hard to have that french accent and talk like a native speaker. any tips?
Thank youu
do you watch french youtubers ?
i'm not sure what your accent sounds like, but in my opinion once you get the sounds "on" and "en" down, everything else will be much easier. It's the ones foreigners struggle with the most.
You should probably stick to only one accent (since there are quite a number within the whole francophonia); and aquire it by listening to every content you can, from natural conversation in podcasts or in yt videos to more formal like the news, and the wide range or dialogues in films. I'd advise to repeat sentences or words as you go, and probably a silly but effective way to become a little more fluent with the accent is to talk to yourself. Then you should practice live with french speakers so you challenge yourself to perform that accent.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes, that's how one learns 🙂
Good luck
Aye! Merci madame.
merci!! any french youtuber recommendations??
mmh that really depends on you taste, there are so many haha
hey guys, does any of you live in beijing, i'm moving there next year so i'd be great to meet some friends

mmh there is a science one called "dirty biology", that can be interesting, history ones like "nota bene", or "c'est une autre histoire", mmh book realted ones like "margaux liseuse" or "audrey le souffle des mots" aaaah
so many ^^
thank you
Hii everyone
I have an English speaking exam.
Is there someone who can voice the text I'm going to send him to help me with pronunciation?
Heyy
Hello, i need help. "Organic food" in french is "aliment biologique" right? Why it isn't "aliment organique"?
Because it is the most common usage, "biologique" implies that at some point the human had an effect on the produce (like managing the soil, the water, etc) but not in a synthetic way. "Organique" would be a litteral translation that isn't used in the context of food, it's used in the chemical composition of things. (note that some french speakers who also know english won't mind using "organic", but it's not the 'correct'/accepted word for that).
For the use of organic in the phrase "organic relationship", we would morelikely use "natural relationship".
Thank you, your explanation is way better than the Internet 😁
Also, we never say "aliment biologique", so consider it conventionally wrong. Instead, say "aliment bio"
"Bio" is the translation for "organic" when it comes to food
"Biologique" is used in scientific contexts
yes, but bio stands for biologique, as the AB acronyme is for "Agriculture Biologique". I do see that in a contexte of FLE (français langue étrangère) they do maintain "biologique" as correct although that is not the common usage
I couldn't care less about what other nations think would be the best French translation for "organic".
I'm just telling @hasty sapphire what we actually use, which is what they should remember
(Quick reminder that the adjective "bio" is very specific to food, "biologique" should be used for anything else)
sorry buddy the dictionnary says otherwise; this is unfortunately academic language, which will be the case for people who learn french and are getting tested on. I do agree the spoken language or commonly accepted version is "bio", this will be handful to know if they get to speak irl 🙂
(1. Larousse 2. Robert)
The thing is, wether you care or not, the question comes from someone who is learning french and gets true or wrong answers, and most times the loose, spoken part isn't part of the academic requirements. It's a good thing for immersion, not for tests.
use that, it's better : http://atilf.atilf.fr
Same in German

Choisissez - choose
la bonne réponse - the correct response (here, "bonne" means "correct" instead of "good")
remplacez les mots soulignés - replace the underlined words (souligné = underlined)
par des pronoms qui conviennent - by the pronouns that fit (convenir is like "fitting" or "being proper" here)
Yeah that's what I need thanks this channel is helpful
Hi guys is there anyone here who can help me with basic Spanish ? Also i can offer my help if someone want to learn Polish.
Does anyone know how to learn new language( Spanish or German) from scratch online?
any websites?
look at the pinned message

Me !
So, I have been learning French since I was about 4 or 5 years old in school. But only the basics. And for a very long time now I have been wanting to be fluent, but I don't know how to approach it, because online you see all these videos about how to learn a language for a beginner. But i am in between beginner and intermediate I would say. So, does someone have any tips on how to go about learning it in my free time. (I do also get French in school, but it isn't useful, I wanna make steps on my own.)
I feel like nothing has been working for me, so I have started to try and read some basic books (like Narnia) in French. But I am still having some trouble lolll
Also if someone wants to learn French with me or help me learn it tell me! I can help in Dutch and English.

Passive/ semi passive :
-consuming content in the target language (videos, songs, films, video games, reading…) and from time to time searching up a word or something you didn’t understand, in a notebook for example. (And don’t be afraid to reach from things out your comfort zone, that’s where progress happens)
-watching videos in that language audio with french subtitles then no subs
-reading books that you already are familiar with in that language, then new ones (don’t pick up books that are too far from your current level, it could be discouraging, but slightly over your comfort zone is perfect)
-you can also set up your phone or any other devices in the target language so you have no choice of not using that language. -
Active:
-Reading out loud, mimicking one’s accent when seeing/ hearing them; talking to yourself only in the target language (yup it’s strange but you’ll improve haha)
-Writing: being journal entries, random thoughts, a full essay or a power-point presentation, every excuse is a good one.
-getting people to talk with you on the regular basis, natives if possible
Getting better in a language is a bit broad so you probably want to set aside a stable amount of time for progress to come, and maybe a goal that is a little more precise, like “I want to be able to read children books without looking for vocab, or grammar”, or “I want to be able to follow that recipe right off the bat”; so you can actually track your progress
thank u so much!

Can anyone explain why these questions are false if it's possible?
the first one is “son” cause its plural and the other one is “pasa” cause its directed to “usted” which is the formal way of saying “you”
hope it helps!
Thanks for explanation! I got the first one but I still have question about 2nd one.
When you conjugate with usted, isn't it must be usted pasas?
cuz the suffix for usted, tu is -as
do we desribe usted as a 3rd person because it's formal?
yes usted conjugated like the third person
yup thats exactly it!
DHA medical school is a famous medical school .

I have a question about English()
I know them who helps to homeless people
or
I know them who help to homeless people
Which one is true?
Can anyone send me meaning of this paragraph that i marked (DM me). It will be of great help for me as i am having sem exam tomo .Thank You
Well, I am not quiet sure if I have understand it myself, since I briefly searched up that topic. But the main Idea I can pin out is the term: ,,extrasensory perception". You should look it up yourself for your deeper understanding.
What this term or what the pages explain, is that some people claim to have some Kind of experience (a dream like the author, or some kind of thought) where they can feel an Event (mostly some kind of Disaster) where f.e your loved one dies. And these people can feel that Event happening right now.
(Like Master Yoda f.e feeling the deaths of many Jedi, if you have watched Star Wars 😉 )
The Author than states that it can happen, that when some people do get these ,,extrasensory perceptions" ,
the event they thought about (loved one dies) can actually occur! Then it is really hard to explain these people that it was just an accident (people can die at any time, it just happens) and the time where they thought their loved ones has died has nothing to with them dreaming about this scenario.
It's hard to explain to them it was just an accident basically.
I hope I could briefly explain it to you and I hope i my thought process not too different.
This Scene sums it up actually (But only Yoda has the power to feel it) ,,Extrasensory Percetion" is mostly not accepted by scientists arround the world, since there is no evidence that some people can feel such Events
ty @obtuse elk
Ahh tbh i dnt think any of those is very well written i think it should be "i know those who help the homeless people" (for some reason them does not sound good to me but maybe u can use it im not sure), about "to" it does not make sense in this phrase i wish i could give u further explanation on this but i cant explain why, it just dsnt sound right
Thanks for replying me. I think this one is the correct one.
I can speaks both :)
Wow, that's a cool explanation. Thanks, it helped me!
I cant tell if u are being ironic or not ahha but i hope it helped u somehow
No, it really helped me. I appreciate the fact that someone really gives his/her time to explain some kind of thing to someone. In conclusion, let's get studying lol
Oh great, makes me happy to help people if i can : ) good studying!
Have u tried?
If u have doubts im sure a lot of people will happily help you including me, but otherwise its not right to just copy someone elses answers as you wont learn : )
yes
Okay I will do my beast
Alright, ask for help if you have doubts : )
cultural dystopia is a correct term?
i'm not sure of what you mean by that... is it dystopia in (our) culture (especially within fictions) or the cultures that evolve in dystopian scenarios?
the definition of dystopia is: "an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic". So i don't exaclty see how it's cultural?

It depends on why you want to learn Chinese. Is this to move to China ? For work ? For fun ? It all depends on what you'll use it for
I learn it to communicate and to work
Then you should probably learn the language used by those you'll work the most with
Okay! thank you for your advice ❤️❤️❤️
maybe mandarin would be considered as the most standard?
I am learning german and have a Question. In the sentence ich habe ein Zimmer für Leon. Why doesn't "für Leon" goes before ein Zimmer?
You can use both
Danke!!
(German related) why is here deinen Lehrer akk and not dativ?
Because Akkusativ asks for Wen oder Was, Dativ asks for Wem
If you would ask the question in Dativ it would be "Warum lügst du deinem Lehrer an?" which isn't right at all
addition: You can use Dativ when you want to say that someone gave something to someone else basically
And how do i tell the difference between wen and wem?
Hey, i´m looking urgently for someone who can speak German and is studying Latin. Please write to me 🙂
Guys, i need help with my English h/w. I am from Russia
Can anybody make in total 7 senteces with this forms:
- must + have + V3
- may/might + have + V3
the first one... he MUST HAVE FALLEN down the stairs
just use the 3rd form of the verb and make up any sentence you want
- she MIGHT HAVE TAKEN the car to school
Thank you!
i dont know if it helped, but youre welcome
Does anyone have any tips or sources for learning French? I studied the basics in high school and could hold a conversation but I totally forgot about a lot of it
Hmm as a mothertongue it's a bit hard to answer but just know as a thumb rule that we use Akkusativ way more often than Dativ. There is a thing called "Case Governance" which means that certain verbs can only be put together with certain cases. Maybe somebody in this server knows a good book or pdf file that has a list of those verbs that are put together with Dativ.
Wem hast du ein Buch gegeben? = Who did you give a book to?/ To whom did you give a book?
Wen hast du gesehen? = Who did you see?/ Who have you seen?
Oh and Akkusativ also answers the question Wohin, wherein Dativ answers Wo
Thank you so much! 🙂
thanks, the guy was already banned but i deleted this message
Is there any difference between behaviour and demeanor?
You use demeanor often when talking about your outer apearence f.e
,,
We require you to have a friendly demeanor, the capacity for teamwork and good knowledge of Microsoft Office."
,,His calm demeanor and expert knowledge give the birds of prey the security and trust they need to work together"
Thanks!

hey, does anyone know german?
i do, how can i help?
Always hard to answer as a native speaker so I don't know if it would be the best answer. But watching movies or tv shows you already know in french with french subtitles might help a bit.
That's a good idea, I learned a bit of Korean through shows so I'll give it a try!
Thank you 🙂
<@&717391911132069929> Scam link ^
thanks, this user is banned 👍
Hey, English is not my first language and I would like to practice speaking in a fun way. Is there anyone who would like to talk about his/her school, country or anything else?
not necessarily now, we can find the time which will suit both of us
If somebody is willing to talk then you can DM me or just write here 🙂
If you want to go to mainland China or speak with Chinese people from the mainland mandarin Chinese would be your best bet, as it's the most spoken Chinese. But if your plan is to go to Hong Kong, you might want to study Cantonese. If you want to go to a very specific area, as Quentin told you you should look into what dialect they are speaking
Yes, thanks a lot for your reply 🥰🥰🥰 have a great great day!!!
<@&717391911132069929>
guys i need help
ask your question, someone will respond on their own time
hey everyone. There is someone here who learns korean or is a korean?
i do need a lotta practice
i do
ask it
What kind of practice?
try to talk a little
i need vocabulary
but the most important is create sentences without stop thinking how to create them
Ahh i see, do you have a primary resource that is giving you vocabulary?
I would definitely recommend a journal of some sort to help you create sentences. Perhaps a diary or a notebook used to make sentences after you’ve learned a grammar point
yup
i do it already, im just searching for some new methods
thank you hyeon
Oooh i see, then perhaps talking to someone, as you have mentioned may help as well. And you’re welcome 카이
Can anyone send me meaning of this paragraph that i marked (DM me). It will be of great help for me as i am having exam tomo .Thanks ❤️

Hello guys, I'm learning kanji from an English book, and because English isn't my first language, I'm not sure what the word "piled high" means. Does it have a specific meaning?
When somethink is stacked f.e with stuff
Heyhey, can someone studying or speaking Japanese help me with some grammar?
I don't see the difference between "したあと" and "してから". The first uses the Ta form and the second the Te form. My teacher said both mean "after", but when do I know which one to use?
Thank you for providing examples that helped me understand better. 🍀
Well, you are right that both mean ,,after" but there is a slight difference between them.
Let's take a look a two sentences:
手をあらってから、食べよう
手をあらったあとで、たべよう
Both sentences mean: Let's eat after you wash your hands. But the using てから is more natural. The reason for that is that using たあとで seperates the sentence into two parts.
You wash your hands and then you eat. They kinda have nothing to do with one another (grammticaly speaking) but using てから kinda links both actions. You wash your Hands because you want to eat afterwards ( otherwise you wouldn't do it)
日本語を勉強したあとで、ねむ。(勉強 = benkyou )
日本語を勉強してから、ねむ。
in this case you state that you learn and after that you go to bed. It depends now if you want to learn and then go to bed(あとで), Or if you go to bed specificially after learning (てから)
Oooh I see!! Thank you Delta
In Conclusion if you want to state that you do one thing (and because of that) do another thing, you go with tekara and if you are doing two seperate things you use atode (you can use just ,,ato" too)
Hello there.
I'm. Struggling with english speaking can anyone help me by conversing for 5 mins?.

Any Japanese speakers here? I'm practicing my hiragana but i don't really know if my handwriting is good, so i'd appreciate someone looking at it and maybe giving a few tips or pointing some stuff out?
Hey guys
Anyone here is good at checking essays?
I have to write an essay from a given prompt and texts in an apa style, but I’m not really sure of how well I’ve written it
Is there any difference between a quantity of and quantities of?
one's plural and the other isn't, it kind of sounds confusing since the word itself is describing something plural... if that makes sense, for example: this store sells a large quantity of food (singular) whereas quantities could be used like this: This is impossible to make in small quantities.
Does anyone know a good program or website to learn French from?
Irregular verbs follow no specific rules for verb conjugation, so you must memorize each one. Use the following tables as a reference for the irregular verbs yo
here are the basics things but u can use this I too use this
Thank you 🙏
I already know the language so if u have doubts feel free to ask

Yo ! Anyone who's french? Who could write me classic music of the country?
anyone who wants to study french with me ?
I can advise you to look at Claude François, Dalida, or George Brassens music if you are looking for old, famous music. Other songs everyone will know by heart include 'les lacs du Connemara', Helene (from Rock voisine), most Patrick Bruel songs, or even 'pour que tu m'aimes encore' (from Celine Dion)
These are all quite old classics, tell me if you want more rock/rap famous songs @ocean wedge 🙂
ME im currently studying french :))
duolingo is actually a good thing,i like it
Check the pinned messages, there are a lot of resources in there, definitely something to help you out

Hey everyone
I would like to know if any of you guys know a good website to learn Spanish...
Preferably about grammar
Also, feel free if you want to talk with me
Not a native speaker, but guessing:
- for
- which have
- inside
- of
- into
- and
- opposite to (also "not beneath" :D)
- with
Are “Which have” and “and” prepositions ?
Thanks for help
My bad, for (2) "with" would be better and for (6) "to"
If I'm not mistaken 😄
But this sentence would suggest this could work: "Meanwhile, the oxygen atoms combine with metallic atoms to form the destructive oxide compound."
Ahahhaa okay thanks a lot

by chance, do you guys work with a study plan or something that you guys could share? I want to do self study for languages.

I've started learning some pinyin, so i'll just continue.....especially those that have sounds that are new to me
@fallow steppe

anyone looking to learn arabic?
Not sure which exact answer they're expectingl, but in my opinion:
2 - los voy a aceptar. (los regalos)
5 - lo escuchan. (a tu padre)
hey, I agree with @grim jackal for the 2nd sentence, it should be ''los voy a aceptar'' because ''regalos'' is in plural, it means ''gifts'' . For the 5th sentence I would say ''le escuchan'' because they're listening to the father who is a person and not a thing (that's why you can't use ''lo escuchan'' here, in my opinion). Hope that helps!
Does somebody speak rumanian? Im a landlord and i need to translate 5-6 sentences for my tenants. Maybe somebody wanna help?

Hey guys, I need some advice for English. How can I improve my writing and speaking skills?
speaking: maybe speak to a native speaker, there are many apps where you can call people and talk English with
writing: learn vocabulary (not the basic) but depending on what you want to write, i would say maybe academic words? You can find books with vocablists and their is Quizlet as well where people put lists of vocabs that you can use
What do you mean? A text or?
Can someone speak Hebrew in here or is studying Hebrew by any chance

Dictionary:
- jisho(.org) is i think widely spread
- takoboto(.jp) is the one I personally prefere since I like the interface more
Both of these also have Apps you can download
Learning Vocabulary
- ,,Anki" there is no better option, don't even look for one.
- You can use the ,,Tango N5 Omega" Pack if you're beginner
- I personally don't like Duolingo and Co since imo they are too playfull and dont really engage you in the language you are learning, but if it helps you go ahead.
Grammer
- Books will be your best friend. For english you can either use ,,Genki" or ,,minna no nihongo" But maybe there are newer ones which will suit you better, since those are quiet old i think.
- You can also check if there are some in your native language (if you're German by any chance you can use ,,Japanisch Schritt für Schritt)
- Also there are ton of websites where you can google specific grammer questions but I would highly recommend going by a book.
Reading
- You can look for some Japanese Mangas for kids
- easyjapanese(.net) is a website (also App) where you can read japanese news. But it can be quite challenging in the beginning.
Youtube
- Miku Real Japanese
- もしもしゆすけ
- Yudai Sensei
- Kiku Nihongo
Btw you can get Genki 1 and 2 here:

Does someone know the difference between "author", "implied author" and "narrator"?
I can't find anything in my mother tongue and the explanations I found just confuse me more 😓
the author is the one who writes and edit the book/the speech you read
the narrator is the voice that tells the story, it can be the author himself if we follow an autobiography for example, but in more cases, the narrator can be
-the main character that tells the story/ that we follow with their own thoughts/sensations
-an omniscient/ neutral narrative voice that zooms out to explain/ describe a situation in the story
The implied author i believe is when you know enough about the author to detect that an opinion, a remark, a particular example is not so much the narrator of the story but the author themselves
->for example, the narrator in Frankenstein is a scientific explorer, Captain Robert Walton who tells the story of Dr. Frankenstein, whome he met on the North Pole
the author is Mary Shelley
you can also think of a narrative voice in adaptations of fairytales in animated films, an old man telling how "once upon a time..." whereas the author can be the scriptwriter
(hope this is clear enough ahaha)
ENGLISH -For this question, passage 8 needs to be referenced.
According to me, the answer should be B) local storage and distribution is more effective. But, the whole class and my teacher are saying that it's A) these are very costly solutions
MY ARGUMENT: I believe that expensive is a side note and only an adjective, like 'brave boy'.
hey does anyone here speak Georgian? georgia as in caucasus
what book should i read
I'd love to improve my english with someone from this server!
thanks! I first didn't understand the implied author 🙈
whats ur native language?

THANKS @hard cedar
if someone is, by any chance, studying hieroglyphics, can they help me translate what's in the "2" part (behind the woman)
wait wait sorry i missed the definition of the implied author: since it's from the XXth century critique i'm a lil behind on those concepts. Basically the implied author is the idea that you as a reader have of an author: for example, you feel that "Voltaire is an arrogant and sly nobleman" which can or can not be the reality of said author
you can have that perception if you transpose your feelings about main characters they wrote, or a thesis that is enforced through the writing
it's not necessarily the truth, but what you come to conceptualize of that author from the text you read
ahh ok I think I understand the concept better now
I want to learn Japanese and german... Can any one tell me how should i learn it by myself
apps like pimsleur and languagetransfer are amazing for learning languages
id stray away from duolingo though, it's fun to use, and okay if you want to learn vocabulary, but not really as good as people hype it up to be
i recommend the yt channel "ikenna" if you want to find a really good method of how to learn languages
Thank you for the information
for japanese i have a plethora of amazing resources that teach you actual japanese rather than whats called "textbook japanese"
i can give you some after i get back from school if you like
Thank you... I would really appreciate
Every Japanese sentence has the same core. When you understand it you have Japanese made easy, but the textbooks never teach it. Cure Dolly introduces Japanese as it should have been taught. This is organic Japanese from scratch, not the mongrel Japanese the schools and textbooks teach.

her voice is really, really annoying at first but you kinda just have to sit through it. at some point the voice does get a bit better
but ultimately, this is the best resource just to start learning japanese, it teaches you everything you need to know and its actual japanese grammar
Thank you bro.... I will definitely watch it
youre very welcome! ill try and find the books i would then reccomend going onto after you feel like youve gone through enough of her videos to get the picture of japanese
this is the first book of 3 i believe? these are exceptionally helpful after youve watched a few of the videos. also, if you have kindle unlimited then you can get these for free :)
First Japanese Reader Japanese Graded Readers (Japanese Edition) eBook : Nihongo, Learn: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store
You can check this out
Can you help me create five interesting Numerical (Quantitative) Questions that I can use to find out what students in the class are like? It's like a class survey. A unique and not a boring questions.
the problem i have with genki is that it teaches you what i call "textbook japanese"; it doesnt really teach you japanese in the way that japanese works and attempts to look at the language through the scope of the english language
cure dolly just teaches the language how it is. plus, its free :)
I agree with that. It all depends on what your goals are while learning.
If you want to just talk and listen to people then it's fine and you should probably watch /listen to more videos in which you are engaged with the language.
But most people learn japanese to study /live in japan too. In that case most of the time you will end up making the JLPT or TOEFL test. For those you have to speak gramatically perfect japanese. Also while working or talking with strangers will also only use formal language. In these cases watching videos will not be enough and you have to write a lot of sentences to get used to the grammar.
yeah i guess if you wanna go for JLPT then genki is the way to go but,,, ive always not really liked the JLPT because of the way that it forces people to look at the language as a checklist in order to get to the next level and a whole bunch of reasons
but as you said, it depends on your goals so ye :)
If you're trying to make a data set then it might be good to ask questions which give you ranges of data:
How long do you spend on social media a day? (0 - 10 minutes) (10 - 30 minutes) (30 - 60 minutes) (60 - 120 minutes) (120 minutes and above?)
it all looks right! theyll give the right type of response youre looking for. very personal questions tho i would say hah
I

hii, any FRENCH speakers here? could someone please tell me if the french word "doit" can be translated as english "shall"? also, is "doit" in infinitive? thanks!!
and one last question: can "to indicate, to decide" be translated as "indiquer, décider"?
yeah "doit" can be translated to "shall" but more in the sense of "must"
not sure of what you meant by infinitive but "doit" is a verb and its infinitive form is "devoir" (don't be confused with the noun "devoir")
for "indicate" and "decide" yes your translations are correct
that's exactly what i meant, thank you so much for your help❤️

Hey i wanna learn Spanish but i dont really know how to start any idea on how i should start it?
i need help w this
i dont understand the question at all
thank you for helping 🙂
whats another word for someone with a lot of connections in society
like someone popular or rich or something
well-connected, prominent, notable, eminent
ok ty
whats a word like "inadequate" but like way stronger
Not a native, but how about "offensive" ?
To give a stronger word than inadequate, you'd need to give it in context
Inadequate has a lot of uses.
"The boy did not bother applying to the school, he felt he was inadequate."
"The plant had received inadequate care and was dying."
(the overall feeling is 'not good enough' but to choose a stronger word is context dependent imo)

I'd suggest watching videos on YouTube that are in Spanish. There are some really great teachers that explain how the language works pretty well. Also, try finding textbooks online for free. The textbooks will provide you useful knowledge. Lastly, watch Spanish movies and TV shows, there are plenty of them. Get used to how the language sounds like.
Btw, my level in Spanish is B2, so if u ever need any help, you can tell me! Keep in mind I'm not fluent tho.

hi i need some help
how do you say "i do the laundry in the morning 3 times a week" in french?
is it "je fais la vaisselle 3 fois par semaine le matin"?
i'm not sure where i should put le matin
I think 'laundry' is 'la lessive' in French, and i'd put it like this: 'Je fais la lessive 3 fois par semaine, le matin' or 'Je fais la lessive le matin, 3 fois par semaine' but i'm not a native speaker
2nd option sounds more natural 🙂
Anyone to chat in German? im studying A1.1 btw

It does exist, but no one says to ,,log on"

hi i need some help about french
"En combien de temps vous vous maquillez le matin?"
"Je rentre vers 5 ou 6 heures du matin."
why is it "le matin" in the first sentence and "du matin" in the second one?
is it because the second one has "5 ou 6 heures"?
yeah it is because it has 5 ou 6 heures
le matin means the morning
if it would have been "En combien de temps vous vous maquillez du matin?" it would mean morning makeup instead of in the morning
hope this helps
ok so for the 1st sentence "le matin" complements the verb as to the time period, but it's a general time period so it doesn't needa preposition (you can say "je mange du pain le soir" or "l'après-midi, les commerces n'ouvrent qu'à 14h").
In the second sentence, matin complements the noun "hour" (du = de+le) so it's why there's a proposition needed, it speficies 5 or 6h o'clock (in the morning), not a 5-6h time frame of the morning, if that makes sense
Thank you so much
got it
Thank you so much
polska gurom🇵🇱

Does anyone here speak portuguese?
I have a question
How can I say "I´m sleeping", I know 2 options: "Eu estou dormido" and "Eu estou adormecido", but idk if one is more correct than the other
"Eu estou caindo no sono" "Eu estou morrendo de sono" are popular ways to say it or you can use "Estou com sono" it's more formal
when you say "estou dormindo" is basically like idk speaking while you sleep lol
glad I could help ☺️
Do you have more Context ?
