THANKK YOUUU SO MUCHH
Can someone help me with English speaking practice on any topic with explanation of my mistakes?
if anyone wants to practice his french or English or Arabic i'm here
or need help in any of them
i want to start learning korean so if someone can help me with it any kind of info would be great, also i can help u with spanish if needed
You can start by learning the alphabet~! I believe Youtube teaches it best. Once you’ve learnt the alphabet, learning basic greetings would be a great start
go for kdrama xD
thank uu
hahaah im already there
was bedeutet Ich-Botschaft und wann verwendet man sie?
was ist allerdings der Unterschied zwischen Du- und Ich-Botschaft
Maybe I can help...
............. wouldn't ever need such a useful instrument?
A.Whom
B.Who
C.Whose
D. Which one
im bad at english
what is this
and pls explain
it'll be B.Who
@lethal fog nvm thx i got it
ohkk
i feel like the english language is slowly changing to not incorporate whom anymore
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
do we say "has been a high priority to him" or "has been a high priority with him"
can "pioneer" be used as an adjective?
like can we just say "xyz is pioneer of modern poetry"
it depends if this thing or person is a priority “that belongs to” (disclaimer: it’s not really worded like that but that’s the best way to describe it) him [option 1] or if this thing/person is a priority “alongside” him, meaning he is also a priority [option 2] i hope that helps!
yes you could say this but you should put the word “a” before “pioneer” (also “pioneer” would technically be a noun because it is a person)
is this correct
yeats is a pioneer
A lo mejor yo también un personaje de ficción.
Is the sentence above correct? I'm trying to make a joke. 🙇🏻♂️
jajajajajaja
maybe if you know the context it'll be a little funnier, just a little tho. xD
A lo mejor yo también *soy *un personaje de ficción
You missed writing "soy". But the rest is correct
the iconic spanish laugh
no that's the wrong answer --- correct answer will be-- I know that woman whose child wept.
Gracias!
yesss
Hey, does anyone have japanese skills here?
I wanna find out what does it mean
Maybe its Chinese
pleco app doesnt work, sry
I don't think this character exist lol. The closest i could find is this 壽, which means life.
i need help. Genki 1 lesson 12. “benkyou ga isogashi kunatta node”
i understand we use short forms before node, but i never learned “isogashi kunatta” i thought it was “isogashikunakatta or “isogashikatta”
(Japanese)
update: it’s ku narimashita
has anyone used the "basic kanji textbook" and also, what do people think of Japanese duo lingo course
for me (as a learner) duolingo didn't do much for me, i would say its a good side practice but not a main study resource.
ok, so kunatta means to become
in this case, isogashi kunatta means it became busy (isogashi) ig
kunakkata is totally different from kunatta
the kunatta refers to the verb naru
which means to become
くなったvsくなかった
なった is the past tense of なる
thanks, ill use it like that
oh sorry im blind
same thing though
narimashita is the formal past tense of naru
which means to become*
check the pinned msgs
for japanese, duolingo is pretty useful when memorizing the writing scripts after that it became pretty much useless to me
e-book version of genki
Can anyone help me with Japanese language from basic
it kinda looks like the old Kanji for Congratulation 壽
Ok, I'm pretty sure it is an ,, Chinese Longevity Charm" Since there are Chains with an almost identical Kanji on it. Which means Longevity and also congratulations.
I've started using Anki and duolingo
I really regret putting in 70 new cards a day lol. But this plus listening to music using daily really helps
I need to structure it more. But while I'm getting into the habit, phrases work fine
does anyone have any beginner websites for french?
👍
any german speakers please dm. better Muttersprachler*in, chinese is my mother tongue, searching for language partner, im currently B2 in german😁
Here. You can DM me
Does anyone here have tips or resources for IELTS self-learner?
wt is ur weak spot? like is it speaking or listening etc
Writing and speaking are my weakest spots. I'm struggling to even express my mind in my first language–and of course, it's twice as hard in English.
for the writing part, i would rly recommend reading books to increase ur vocab and it also helps in improving ur writing
and for speaking watch shows and movies, it not only helps u to improve ur listening skills but also improve ur accent
and also, try reading out loud
but before that try and collecting ur thoughts, wt u wanna express to the other person, it makes language learning a lot easier
Thanks! I read books almost everyday actually, but I rarely do something when I found new words. 😅 But I'm just starting to try storing them to Anki when I'm not lazy.
For speaking, I'll get nervous easily. It's hard and scary to collect my thoughts when the person in front of me keep staring at me.
I guess I have to practice more with my friends.
then try a new genre of books and anki is actually useful
for speaking, try speaking with strangers more cuz in the long run it will not only provide u with the speaking skills but also help gain confidence while speaking to anyone
I will. Thank you so much for your answers, I really appreciate it.
Hi! Is anyone learning/taking/took french and does not mind sharing notes related to French? I have an Oral exam GCE (O)- level in September and can't really find the proper source to help me out.
I'm really weak in this language, even beginner is an understatement. Feel free to PM me if you can help out! Thank you so much 🙂
hello my beautiful people! I'm looking for the person with witch I can practice my English skills. DM me so we can talk : D
The traditional way of studying a language is trash. Takes a lot of time, practice, money, etc. And Duolingo is just the worst. If you want to learn a language for real, check this links (especially the refold one), theres a discord sv too, if you want to get the invite just dm me. Also, if you want to know more about all of this dm me. Links:

Language Isn't Math. The reason that traditional language learning programs thrive is that most people haven't been introduced to this basic idea.

The Refold roadmap is a step-by-step guide for learning any language from scratch. We explain exactly how to combine media, strategic study, and educational technologies to achieve high-level language fluency faster than any other method in the world.
its just my opinion (based on my personal experience), but when it comes to learning the language which u r already learning it in skool refold wont be that useful
skool mainly focuses on how much vocab u hv memorized and how well can u follow the grammar rules of that language
but on the contrary, the refold technique rly works (though its pretty time consuming) [again, saying this by my experience while learning japanese]
if u hv the time, use refold or if u r learning it to pass ur skool exams, its better to stick with ur skool textbook cuz if u dont hv some genuine motivation for actually learning that language, u wont be able to learn it no matter how hard u try
hey guys! do you guys have any tips for writing in a toefl ibt test?
try to keep ur sentences simple but not too simple, over use of fancy words is just pointless
hv a consistent tone
explain/address the topic in an organized manner
keep in mind "NO GRAMMAR OR SPELLING ERRORS"
easier said than done though
Hi does anyone know a server, or an app where I can practice my speaking in English? thanks
she probably wasn't asking for help to get better school grades, but to learn the language for fun. That's why i recommended her Refold
yea for that u need to just practice
yea that's possible too
Hi, can someone help me? The empty part should have two words:
"The lawsuit was dropped after police failed to find sufficient evidence. No ... will be taken"
I was thinking "further actions" but I'm not sure
yea it makes sense
alright I'll go with it, thanks
How do I brush up on my French? I haven't been having French classes for few months now and so I just need some tips to brush up on my French and be fluent again (I have to study B1 level now)

@hard cedar Hi, i got this advice a while back maybe it can help u too : ) Goodluck
Can anyone help me with German from Basics?
my first language is arabic, second is english
i sorry i don't know or lean spanish or german but i learn french if anyone wants help in that
The ones which mean you or you all hv the accent i.e. tú, él/ella/ustd, vosotros/as and ellos/as/ustds
Preterite: no accent
Imperfect: only on nosotros
Future: all except nosotros
Hi, native speaker here! i found this website that might be useful https://www.wordreference.com/conj/EsVerbs.aspx?v=estar
My advice is to make sentences so you can add a bit of context to what you are learning. For example, 「tú estarás lejos mañana」
And for accents, yeah they are difficult, even natives dont get them right.
esta ≠ está ≠ ésta. 「esta」 is used to indicate something nearby. 「está」 comes from the verb "estar". 「ésta」it doesnt exist (used to but not anymore).
if you have more questions feel free to dm me ^^
listen to a lot of french, preferably natives (you can find a lot on youtube, check out le monde, ARTE, innerFrench channels) and definitely speak it outloud, try finding a french native online you can talk with or talk with yourself and record it - talk about anything, what you did in your day and other topics that would also increase your vocabulary. good luck!
thank you very much!
got it, thanks :)
i think i understand now
merci beaucoup! will definitely try out these tips
Hello ppl, i just saw some of u talking abt refolding technique. I was wondering what was that abt? Just curious 😮

Hi buddies! I'm preparing myself to the CAE examination. So, as you might be guessing, I'm looking for more people in the same context to practice our speaking! However, if you are native and you are willing to help me, we can speak in Spanish as a exchange. I'm from Perú, South America!. Greetings to all of you!
Hi guys, if anyone intrested in learning Hungarian, well I can help with that 🔥
Why Hungarian
Hey where and how you learned german language? Apart from just travel to this country 😉 How can I make learning more attractive?
- How to effectively learn a new language has been discussed here many times, if you scroll up a bit or check the pinned messages you might find something.
- Have your read the book Atomic Habits ? In a nutshell you have to make studying rewarding and satisfying in order to make it more ,,attractive".

@hard cedar I learned Japanese for 4 years through my high school and am going to be taking AP Japanese next year. I'm not native but I can certainly help out
are you aware bout some good online courses to learn japanese effectively?
Refold
thanks
Every Japanese sentence has the same core. When you understand it you have Japanese made easy, but the textbooks never teach it. Cure Dolly introduces Japanese as it should have been taught. This is organic Japanese from scratch, not the mongrel Japanese the schools and textbooks teach.

is there any verb in french, which could mean "getting french mentality". As you moved into the country and can call youself french, because you percieve the culture of this country very well etc
like "to anglicize" in english. it would be even better, if it was as a slang-word
I don't think there is any one-word-long French verb to describe such a thing.
The closest equivalent I can think of right now would be to half-jokingly say "Je deviens une vraie Française" (= "I'm becoming a genuine French person") or "Je suis maintenant une vraie Française" (= "I've now become a genuine French person")
If you wish to say that on a more serious, sincere tone, I'd recommend using "Je suis presque une vraie Française maintenant" or "Je suis pas loin d'être une vraie Française" (= "I'm not that far from becoming a genuine French person"). Considering the complexity of a country's culture, that seems like the most humble one to say, as it implies that you reckon you might not have seen it all about French culture yet.
If any French person out there could back me up, I'd appreciate it. I wouldn't want to miss some obvious verb/expression
I want to start learning German language, are there any sources?
check the pinned msgs
heyy french is my first language if you want any help
i need help with that too
Yooo I am German trying to learn Spanish :))) is there anyone who wants to speak with me xD
I could, if you still want
Hey Guys, Can Someone give me a good website for japanese. I remember James Scholz, once talked about the website that he used, and i forgot it, can someone tell me any website, Because i think I am not allowed to ping James to ask him
chinese and spanish?? wow
I remember him talking about BritVSjapan and doing anki flash cards for vocab
grew up in a multicultural environment
Yes, I just went to it now, do you think there will be good paragraphs to write and read?
I’m not sure I’m not studying japanese, it was just a question that was asked frequently on the streams; but do check out the links that are pinned in this section, they may help 🙂
Thanks 😄 I dint feel like pinging him lol, Ill check out the pinned section, Maybe later on the stream i can ask him, I mainly wanted a website that has paragraphs and pics like he uses to write and practice, thanks alot 😄
Ah i think what you’re talking about is the Anki deck he is using, but I’m not 100% sure now haha
Probably Thanks alot tho 🙂 There is an anki deck on the BRITVS JAPAN website, maybe that is the one, thanks for responding fast
No problem, for one time my wifi is working ^^
keep your anki decks below 390 cards to maximize the algorithm performance
Thanks, Usually, i dont use ANKI for learning japanese, but I will give it a try
you can split in different decks
ohh okok
hey btw, did James himself make the Anki deck, or do you think he found it online, was curious, sorry for disturbing ya btw 😄
Mmh i don’t think he had the time to do it, making your own decks is very time consuming, with all his work and the stream and all i would be surprised ^^
Ahh ok, I found the Anki deck on the website, but i just found one deck lol, If you find any japanese anki deck, Please lemme know, till then ill scroll through the resources, thanks alot :))
Is there anyone whose native language is Azerbaijani?
what books do you recomed for adult that whant to learn english
word power made easy by Norman Lewis
wren and martin (this book is literally used by every single Indian): https://eg4.nic.in/JNV/DFILES/EBOOKS/IR/Englishgrammarandcompositionbywrenandmartin(1).pdf
read any books, my personal favorites are: Looking for Alaska by John Green, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, The Shadowhunter series by Cassandra Clare and Elanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
But its totally up to you
and yea, make a journal and write all the new words that u learn (while reading) with their meanings
thank you <3<3<3 I appreciate your answer
Hiiii! I'm finding an English speaking partner 🥰 it'd be great if u'r preparing for the IELTS test too. I'm Vietnamese so I can also teach you some if you'r interested. Byeeee 🤩

any Native Germans down for conversation practice today? DM meee
I need help with a sentence in French "J'apprécie MOINS les activités culturelles ou sportives QUE le cours de perfectionnement en francais"
why is the QUE not next to MOINS? if the comparison is about a verb and not a noun.
You are comparing 2 things
I think you could use this too "J'apprécie les activités culturelles ou sportives MOINS QUE le cours de perfectionnement en francais"
hi can anyone suggest some good documentaries? i have to write a documentary review paper for my english class and im really confused about it
Planned Obsolescence documentary
the social dilemma, had a lot of impact on my cousin who was obsessed with social media
This sentence will never be used by french people. For @exotic perch , I think Gon is correct : the comparison is not between like and dislike, but between les activités culturelles and le cours de perfectionnement de français.
I know it is for your lessons, but in french people usually use the verb "préférer", to prefer : "Je préfère le cours de perfectionnement de français aux (contraction for à les) activités culturelles"
The opposite for "préférer" will be "déprécier", but I have never heard it before, except in economy but it is very specific
Anyone here that might have some online resources for learning french?
I think here you can find ?
Just wondering if this flows well for a essay task
duolingo is good but i don't use it much
@lethal ferry @hard cedar Thank you both 🙂

Tips to improve in france as a beginner and things what I need to know about france
Because, I am bad in france and I’m struggling
I'm available to answer some Spanish questions if you have them
France is a country
French is the language
Oh my bad, thanks
How do I memorize small paras in spanish?
small paras?
Small paragraphs
Like bout miguel de cervantes, garcia lorca or the book don quijote
why do you need to remember those?
Skool exams
See the dumb thing bout Indian skools is that literature basically means memorizing paragraphs worth 2, 3 or 5 marks
nonsense memorizing that, the important thing about those classic books is to know the plot and what the author thought at that time when writing
Well, I need to pass my spanish exam
And v dont hv to read any books in any language class
there are translations available online. When I had french classes I used to learn things using my mother tongue, and then translating during the exams
In English its basically some dumb edited extract from a great book and giving the test mostly based on character sketches, describe wt were the character's feelings when this senerio took place etc.
Yea but the thing is, it's given to us in spanish and google translate just literally translates the sentences and sometimes they r pretty meaningless
for example in don quijote, there is a very important part when the main character thought some windmills were giants, he was sick of adventure and his imagination tricked him
try english versions lol
if you reaaaaaally need to memorize is the same thing as memorizing something in your native lenguage. I guess reading it out loud and imagine you're the character saying the dialog will work
Hmmm that might just work
Break the sentences down into smaller parts.

btw anyone interested in poetry here? or like writing analysis for poetry because i would like to ask for advice on how to write a good analysis
i mean for Urdu poetry but general writing/critique would also be helpful
anyone wanna draft my english 2000 word comparative essay lol
Use HelloTalk to connect to chinese people, that app is allowed there
i just saw ur "about me" and wow that just opened my eyes...who is xQc
i can help!
i know punjabi and hindi fluently too so i might be able to help you with the urdu!
a few words from urdu in hindi but there is a vast difference between the 2 when it comes to the scripts
like i cant read urdu, but if we go back to the history, these languages are almost same
well they r not that similar
the only reason y there r urdu words in hindi is cuz of the mughal and the arab influence in india
ik
but urdu originated in india
ie home of hindi, that too around the same region ie North India
its so interesting that all these yrs when u thought u were speaking only hindi but in reality is a mix of hindi, urdu and arabic
yea well hindi that v speak today is just sanskrit influenced by urdu
wait u said uk punjabi too, r there any similarities urdu and punjabi?
punjabi is similar to both hindi and urdu, coz it also developed in north india
that too around the time of mughals..
it is similar to hindi that even in the writing script, many leters are common
yea ik, even in delhi ppl generally use english, hindi and punjabi
@lethal fog
who is the poet of the poem you were talking about
also, which country are you from?
lmao i was talking bout the languages in general
im from india XD
btw where in india?
its so vast!
delhi ncr
talk to me in korean has good free online resources and they have some books
oh they got free resources???i thought it was paid.. gotta check that out rn thanksss ❤️
@hard cedar @lethal fog I'm from pakistan and i'm asking for help in Urdu Litrature poem analysis- Nazam Ki tashreeh . I speak less urdu so it's slightly hard for me . But the issue I have is how to write a good sumery analysis of a Nazam like I want to sound more concise when it comes to writing about the literary devices used and overall elaboration. all the poets we're doing are from the Partition era or Mughal Indian times . Poets like Nazaer Akbarabadi , Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmed Faiz , and Josh Hassan . Bro overall My question is how i write a good analysis so I'll send one here and you guys tell me what u think
can you guys read the urdu script tho?
nope, v can just speak urdu
how can i learn german a very difficult language i don't want to fail the german class :C
attend all your classes
i did that mistake for spanish and now im literally suffering
make notes for every single thing
believe me, it helps a lot
i have to attend every class anyway, that's not a problem
did u pay attention? [not being sarcastic]
and where r u facing difficulties?
ahm.. look now i haven't taken a german lesson in my life so i don't know a single word together
so u basically need to start from scratch, is that right?
in that case, i would recommend focusing only on the topics that r there in ur curriculum, rather than actually learn the language, cuz ur priority is to pass the class
start with the grammar topics along with the vocab
my german teacher started talking to me in german as if i was german and i didn't understand anything but everyone except me was answering their questions because i am the only person in the class who doesn't speak english
yeah :c
then try and write paragraphs
then wt is ur native lang?
turkish and english
ohkk then wt u do is instead of using some english-german source, use google translate to translate the source pages into turkish-german
try translating words from ur mother tongue to german, that way its easier to remember
thanks 🥺
Yupp
what are ur resources ?/
This youtube channel helped mee a alot
I used duolingo and 90 day Korean website.
thanks a lot !! can i know your level ?
Intermediate
Hi any person learning / who can speak French?
I'm learning!

What level please?
I used to study in TTMIK. https://talktomeinkorean.com/curriculum/
i’ve heard so much about them, i have to check them out. also, did u pay for the courses and books or sth or just the free resources are fine too ?
I didn’t. They had free courses. Its been a loong time but they are very good at it. I still remember some basic phrases. You should definitely check! Good studies ❤️
i will. thank u so much for replying that helped !! ❤️
haha, he is a streamer
Hi, I am brazilian, I don't speak English, help me kkkk
Does anyone have tips for writing academic essay and how to structure a thesis statement and how derive discussion points from the thesis?
someone who speaks chinese?? why when we say 我买一份地图 then in 一份 the yi 一 doesn't change to a second tone following the rule like 一件 ??份 and 件 are both 4th tone
I use these tips to structure a thesis
Let's assume we are writing an essay about love
(Let's assume we read a novel called "The Stars" written by Lenora)
- The thesis should always have a theme and the theme is NEVER expressed by one word.
Example
theme : love (this is wrong),
theme: love conquers all (this is correct as it is expressed with more than just a word)
-
The thesis should always have 3points/ideas to support your argument
-
Ensure you can discuss these 3main points using 3other subpoints
(That's how you derive discussions from the thesis)
Example
Ask yourself why does love conquer all?/ what would happen if people loved each other?
Point 1: love is the glue that binds equality
subpoint- you can talk of equality amongst people of all races, equality between all genders, equality between people of different religions
Point 2: love is the key to living longer lives
Subpoint: You can talk about how with love there will be less wars amongst people hence less deaths, how love boosts happiness which is good for the health hence people live longer, how love reduces high blood pressure hence reduces rates of deaths
Point 3: I think you get the drill
Suboint......
Final thesis: so what you have to do is combine the theme and the three main points to make a strong thesis statement
Example: According to Lenora's novel "The Stars," love conquers all as it is not only the glue that binds equality and the key to living longer lives but also write point 3
Hope this helps
Yes that does help a lot, thank you!
I have a question tho for my brief it says to come up with 4-5 discussion points so do I include 4-5 in the thesis as the main points?
Wow that's a lot of points
And a long essay for that matter
But yeah I think you should
If it says so then you should
It’s a 1500 max word limit
Alright
Ow not as long as I thought then😹. Anyways success in your paper feel free to ask any further questions if you have them! Happy to help!
Thanks!
I want to learn a plethora of languages, however, I am unsure of where to begin. I was told to focus on one at a time as well. Could someone please recommend the language(s) that would be the most beneficial to learn?
Biased answer, but it might help
Learn Hindi, it is about 5-8% similar to english
writing system isnt very complex, you speak what you write, ie nothing silent
also, it'll be easier for you to learn other NORTH Indian (emphasis on north, south indian are very different than hindi)
Like Punjabi, Bangla, Bhojpuri (😏😂)
watch Bollywood with ease
bruh hindi is not at all similar to english
the word "biased" does not match the magnitude of this answer 😂
mmh what languages do you already know? also if you want to learn "a plethora", i suggest you look into the domain of linguistics, as it could help clarify your choices or interests. Bare in mind that if you don't have a purpose for the language you learn you probably are not to aquire it as much or as fast though 🙂 @nimble cedar
- spanish cuz its easy to learn and its the second most spoken language in the world
- japanese, well if u wanna live (third largest economy) there or watch anime without subtitles
- hindi/urdu(the scripts are different though), rly useful if u wanna live or travel in the indian subcontinent (and also refer to @hard cedar msg 😂)
- french again cuz its easy to learn and france is a great country to live in and also there r a lot of french speakers
- german, again rly useful if u wanna live in germany (german car brands rule the auto industry)
but at the end, its totally up to you
i personally recommend starting off with european languages cuz they are easy and widely spoken
ig wrong tag?
omg sorry i read the username too fast haha
Lmao it happens, np :)
OOO what counts as European languages?
Only English sadly. I have a purpose for the languages. I am an entrepreneur and want to be able to easily communicate with oversea branches, as well as knowing langauegs for fun, personal, and overall just being able to communicate with more people.
as saka said, definitely spanish would be a good language to begin with 🙂
A language that has originated from Europe
Yea spanish, French or german r ur go to languages
the good thing is that spanish and french are Roman languages so not too different from each other, and german can have slight similarities with english
@lethal fog @maiden wolf tysm!
I took a linguistics class and we were advised to go for either French, Spanish, German or Chinese.
Not to say that the other languages aren't equally as important but those are what were highly recommended
Imma be subjective and say start with French so that we can learn together😹
Yo guys, I hv a question
I'm currently in cbse 10th grade and I'm learning spanish, A2 lvl
So I hv to give my boards this yr and cbse will certify me.
So can i just skip a1 and a2 lvl exams and directly give b1?
LMAO yk what, sure why not. French it is 🙂
YES, I did that with french, I took B2 exam directly
The one you love the most, but if you are a native english speaker, I would consider Spanish, French and Chinese (for career purposes). If you are into anime you can learn japanese.
ohkk thx a lot :)
I need more help in japanese
How can i learn kanji better
Or how can i memorize theme better
Hey Yall, Being a japanese historian teacher, I thought i can share a tip which really helped me out-
- Using the app Anki, has been super helpful, especially to integrate my concepts and i would recommend the 2k/6k deck with audios and pictures.
- Adding integrations to your notes, by stimulating your writing in a creating manner, for me writing was difficult as my hand would hurt after writing a few pages, writing with translations and pictures is creative and more exciting as well.
- Lastly, I used post it notes on my wall writing all the hiragana, katakana, and kanji, so i can memorize them in my free time!
Learning a language is not supposed to be stressful, always remember that!
And one more thing!** あきらめないで** Never give up!
It has been proved that it is so much more algorithm efficient to split the 2k deck in 390 max smaller decks
Yes, I forgot to mention that, i would not recommend a one shot 2000 go, try to limit your deck reviews to max 300-400 cards!
Thanks alot man
Is italky good?
I mean it helps you with talking and helps kinda alot but
Do people really use it and get better from it?
Hello! My name is Evgeniy. I’m from Russia. I’m studying international relationships in my university. It’s wonderful to see you all here. I want to practice English with native speakers or those, who know English well. Please, text me or call out 🙏Thank u very much!
I can help!
heya just a quick english grammar question: is it an unique or a unique?
(as in "a/an unique person")
a unique
as the "U" sound is not as a vowel
I had problems with my paragraph . Can anyone help me fix it? And I don’t know why I should not use “get” , “ will” , “firings” .
a unique, the use of an article depends on the way that a particular word sounds, like its an hour and not a hour (cuz the "h" is silent and its sounds more like "our" with an "o" sound)
have you solved the problem of 一份? I can help. Since the 一 in the 一份地图 means that the number of the map is one, the pronunciation of 一 should be first tone to indicate the number "one".
I asked about that on HelloTalk app, and some chinese people told me to use 2nd+4th
do you have a Xin-hua dictionary? It's suggested that you can take the pronunciation in it as the standard. Although there are different pronunciations spoken by native speakers, if you wanna take part in the HSK exam, it's better to remember the pronunciation recorded in the latest dictionary.
I've never heard about that, I'll check it out. Btw, some of these chinese people who answered my question in HelloTalk app were from guangdong area
Actually, we Chinese are also confused about some polyphones. We also refer to the standard ,i.e. the Xinhua chinese dictionary.
@bronze meteor how fluent are you in spanish? and how did u learn that language?
native spanish
ohkk, so how do i increase my vocab? any good resources?
read any books, listen to audiobooks, both , and also watch youtube videos
and one more question, how often do you use the imperfect and indefinite past tense in spain (if u live there)? cuz wt i hv studied, it says latin americans only use the indefinite past tense
focus on your own interests and try to consume that content in spanish instead, at the end any language is a new tool to access a wider range of resources, I use spanish to learn english and french, but I use english to learn chinese and every other type of content, educational, entertainment, cooking
oh that makes sense, thx a lot :)
difference between "pretérito perfecto simple" y "pretérito imperfecto"?
preterito imperfecto y preterito indefinido
mmmm......"pretérito indefinido, o pretérito perfecto simple" ok ...it can be called by two different forms
I think the main difference between Spain and latinamerican is that in Spain we use the "pretérito perfecto compuesto" like "yo he comido" instead of "yo comí" (preterito prefecto simple/preterito indefinido) but the use of "preterito imperfecto" is the same "yo comía"
oh i get it now, thx a lot :)
does anyone know where i can find a text version of this ap spanish book
do you have the title?
no i was just givin a pdf of 50 pages from the book this is the first page
And you want the whole book right?
ya they gave us screenshots and i cant select any of the words so i want a text version
ohh I see
if you can't find the original source you can always use this incredible tool called OCR "optic character recognition" that uses Machine learning algorithms to convert image or pdf to word or .txt. There are a lot of sites out there but this is one I've used in the past https://www.onlineocr.net/
Free Online OCR service allows you to convert PDF document to MS Word file, scanned images to editable text formats and extract text from PDF files
I hope you can use ctrl+F now and get an A+ by searching the answers of the questions on the plain text😉
thx for the help
can some1 plz help me w spanish 🙏
Hello, can anybody help me translating this into english? 방귀 뀐 놈이 성낸다고, 같잖지도 않는 요구는 하는 놈이 더 목소리를 높인다.
Omg- the sentence makes no sense, so its saying “the one who farts gets angry, the one who makes unreasonable demands raises his voice even more”
exactly
that's my problem, no matter if i use the translator o a dictionary and understand the words, the whole sentence does not make any sense to me

@bronze meteor hi, sorry to bother you but i plan to learn french and spanish in the future(Maybe next year, cuz im currently learning german), if youre interested in learning Chinese i think i can help. Dm me if you‘d like to exchange
And to all the versteckten Deutschen in this channel😂if you‘d like to learn some Chinese or into random talking and are not easily be triggered by my dumb german questions, please dm
i have to use 3-6 words to fill up that blank space and include the word in bold to match the meaning of the setence on the top to the bottom ;;
mark refrained from
we need to include "For" in that blank space, which what got me thinking for some time;;
ok
@sharp geode
had it not been for mark
thank you so much for the help, now i feel dumb knowing the answer, thank you -w-;;
no problem 👍
after seeing the answer, you are not alone🖐️ 😭
<name of a person> is hereby informed that he should meet me in person for personal guidance tomorrow. submit your copy.
in which tone is this sentence said? angry? or something else??
formal, which might make the reader a little uncomfortable
angry - 1-2%
okay, thank u soo much
What’s the difference between “vous avez des enfants?” & “est-ce que vous avez des enfants?” When should we use them
I'm guessing you understood the direct translation but not the meaning? It means that when you're in the wrong, you are meant to keep quiet or be apologetic or similar sort, instead, you don't acknowledge it and lash at them.
The one who farts gets angry --> let's say A farted, and A blames on B for farting.
The one who makes unreasonable demand --> a parent and their child went to McDonald's and asks for a cup of milk for her child for free. They get angry for the worker saying no as they don't sell it.
Does this make more sense?? I'm sorry if that is what you were asking!!... I saw Korean and wanted to help haha
hey i can help c:
Can you tell me guys how did you really improve your english ? (i'm french btw)
Can you tell me guy how to start learning japanese?
- Passive/ semi passive : consuming content in English (videos, songs, films, video games, reading…) and from time to time searching up a word or something you didn’t understand, in a notebook for example. (And don’t be afraid to reach from things out your comfort zone, that’s where progress happens)
-watching videos in “vo” with English subtitles first, then no subs
-reading books that you already are familiar with in English, then new ones,
-you can also set up your phone or any other devices in the target language so you have no choice of not using English. - Active:
-Reading out loud, mimicking one’s accent when seeing/ hearing them; talking to yourself only in English (yup it’s strange but you’ll improve haha)
-Writing: being journal entries, random thoughts, a full essay or a power-point presentation, every excuse is a good one.
-getting people to talk with you on the regular basis, natives if possible 🙂
Hi guys! I am learning German but i am looking for a friend to practice english, talk about culture and languages, my native language is spanish and i can help u, send me DM if you're interested
I want fully apps and dictionarys to learn japanese fully in these 1.5 years
I got only anki and duolingo and tbh im improving but not that much
Out of everything, duolingo should be used for vocab- not learning grammar or sentences, since its not very good with Asian languages. Im not learning Japanese- however, as every japanese learner and teacher says “Learn the alphabet”
Please look at Pins, Saka and A few others have provided resources to Learn Japanese
Ok thanks alot
thank you for you advices i'll do that
duolingo
you can ask somebody/native speaker if it'll be fine
I was learning it earlier, the teaching is good
does anyone have exercises for malay tingkatan 3?
refer to the links pinned, there r some dope resources
Hey, does anyone mind linking a japanese anki deck with pictures?
It could be any deck, like the one james uses or anything :))
does anybody know Afrikaans?
Which sounds better to say: university or college
Or do these words mean different things?
depends on where you are
in the uk college is schooling between secondary school and higher education ( university )
because at the end of secondary schools, students in the UK sit their GCSEs and depending on their grades they can either return for sixth form where they study / sit for ALevels or go to college for other certifications like the BTEC
however in america and canada im pretty sure they're interchangable
Anybody have any idea for a narrative essay with the topic "lost paradise"?
you can write about lost nature
or loss in general
college and uni r kinda diff, in most countries after high school, u go to a college and to pursue even higher education then u go to a uni
in india, it varies on the size..
smaller ones are colleges
For people who have learnt Korean, as a beginner who has just learnt how to read the alphabet, how would you recommend me to go about learning the language - by being self taught?
from my experience in learning languages i'd suggest simultaneously improving your vocab and working on your grammar
for most of my languages i used drops & memrise for vocab & for korean specifically there's this great website called howtolearnkorean.com
otherwise i downloaded pdfs of learning books for cefr
there are some korean resources in the pinned messages that i use and have found v helpful! :)
Heey everyone,
I am thinking of making a commitment group or something of the like. Both in Atomic habits and Deep work there is talk about these kind of groups and how they can help you get more/better work done. What a commitment group is or at least what I have in mind is the following: every week or 3/4 days you make a realistic planning for yourself about how many hours of deep work/concentration you are planning to get (and be specific on which days you want to do what so you can make a real commitment, you don't have to go overly into detail). We will meet every few days or once a week (at the beginning my preference goes to every 3/4 days) and we will tell/show eachother (about) our planning, keep this short, direct and simple so that a " meeting" only takes a few mins per person, in the " meeting" you will also talk about why you accomplished or didn't accomplish the work you set out to do (so wether you actually achieved the set goal), this will help you reflect on how you work and help you realise what you need to change. I am personally looking for 3/4 other people since I think a small group would work the best, I prefer people that live in or around timezone GMT +1 (Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris) because I feel like planning the "meetings" would be easiest.
In case you are interested, react here with a ping or send me a DM. In case of a lot of interest I am willing to make a server where people can make their own commitment groups and where we can (for example) share our plannings/schedules. Please do note: This invitation is for people that are actually intersted and serious about doing this. Sure it can happen that you can't meet or are bussy due to other appointments, but I will kick you out or quit meeting with you if you are not serious.
FYI mods, if this isn't allowed, please tell me, thank you.
as a korean i think starting with a simple (even baby books) would help a lot
it's actually the same thing but when you add "EST-CE QUE" it's well-spoken. If I translate it would be "DO YOU have children" compared to the first sentence "you have children ?"...
Thank you!!
d
a is also correct,
but d suites better
Yes i agree with that it is D
d
thank u guys
Hi i have some, do u still want them?
yes please

Hey, are there any native English speakers interested about exchanging languages?? I speak Spanish and I would like to improve my fluency. It would be awesome to find someone with an upper intermediate level (B2-C1) because that's my level in English as well !!
Well my current lvl is B2 and I'm learning spanish (A2 lvl), so maybe v can help each other?
Hey guys. When writing essays for romeo and Juliet (specifically literary essays),what was a common theme that you picked up that had to be written about? Also, does anyone have any tips to really ace this? I’m so nervous (also,we’ve only reached the end of act 3 atm)
All help will be appreciated 🤍
Power of love and hatred
Hi people,
I'm french and I'm good at any point of grammar etc, so if you need help just hmu ! :)
PS : Don't hesitate !
my favourite thing abt r&j is that it's satire and once you find out this bit of info you look at it completely differently -- of course to write an essay about the satire in r&j you need a bit more context about the writing in shakespeare's time but it's quite interesting to explore the caricaturisation of romance and tragedy
but as usual, when writing literary essays, point, example, explanation
depending on the question of the essay your points will change but it's always a good idea to note down the theme, setting and prose
which are all tied together through context that you learn from reading the play & it's this context that you are gonna use to explain your analysis, which would be your point, and select quotes and actions that directly reflect your point
I'll add, if you have a good edition, there is usually a chunky preface/preamble or diverse notes at the end of the book; these are really helpflul and too often skipped, and they should give you an interesting if not key understanding for the book. You can always refer to cliff notes for concise revisions, and if it's an essay you will have at home (so more preparation time), i'll suggest you to already underline or copy bits of the text that you could use as quotes (with the title of the act and line.s.)
On the quotes though, be sure to use them correctly, meaning they should fit your argument and be explained; otherwise the essay is going to be shallow.
Hello every one! I'm Vietnamese, I have found a foreigner to exchange our languages, especially in English. Is anyone interested in? Thanks ♥

Also i sucks at learning languages
And how will i know at what level iam rn?
Any better tips?
instead of using google translate to look up meanings of words, use an english dictionary
Ok brother thank you very much 😊
Hi! If anyone needs help in French, feel free to dm me! I would like to help! Good luck everyone!
Hi everyone. I study english and i am finding a native speaker to help me to improve my english
Dont use google translate, it's kinda inaccurate
Just take a test, if u r learning in skool the ask ur teacher
-Try maintaining a notebook with all the grammar topics, vocab, conjugations and all
- Active/Passive learning: practicing w/s, watching shows, reading books and listening to in that language
And yea, if u learning on ur own, then try not to rely on google translate and duolingo
I am practicing the language more then learning grammar and other topics, and yes this is a better solution thank you i will give an hour everyday to learn English more
It shud be "than", maybe its a typo and don't mind me correcting
Bruh but you are using wrong words yourself😀 should i trust your advice
It's text man, abbreviations are common
Abbreviation ?
Take the advice if u want, or just ignore it
Hi
Back to Romeo and Juliet,I think I mentioned this yesterday but the topic apparently was how passion leads to tragedy and the key points that I came up with is : their passionate love, the feud, the fights (but idk ab this one) and their fate. What do you guys think?
@maiden wolf @plucky dove
could anyone tell me what that is ? i can’t find it in my notes
it's sui (4th tone). It loosely translates to age or a counter for age. For example you use it when you ask someone's age (ni you ji sui).
https://www.mdbg.net/chinese/dictionary?page=worddict&wdrst=0&wdqb=sui
also you didn't ask for this but the character above is wang not san. https://www.mdbg.net/chinese/dictionary?page=worddict&wdrst=0&wdqb=wang. It means king.
idk if the links will work for you but you can look it up with any other search engine. Hope that's helpful : )
i read the piece quite some times ago and i didn't study it in class, but it seem to fit: passions are as the name suggests, emotions so intense that the personn/the character becomes "passive" or under the influence or control of that emotion. If you know the ending you'll understand that they both died because of their love for each other. I recommend you check out the cliffs notes about the piece, that could be very helpful:
Get free homework help on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: play summary, scene summary and analysis and original text, quotes, essays, character analysis, and filmography courtesy of CliffsNotes. In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, a long feud between the Montague and Capulet families disrupts the city of Verona and causes tragic r...
also, tragedies as a genre rely a lot on (ill)fate, or prophecies. The fights are between the two main families but also the one that romeo engaged (that got him bannished), and on and the dissonance between arranged Juliet/Paris marriage vs. the one they planned with romeo/juliet; sort of front scene and backstage tension if you will
thank you so much!!
Thank you SO much!!
Thanks A LOT!

Hey everyone, I'm a bit iffy on the distinction between "I've been admiring you for several years now" and "I've admired you for several years now"
I've also struggled to find any information online, so if anybody has an idea on what to type to google I'd appreciate it a lot.
If anybody has a specific reading recommendation on this topic, that would be even better. ;)
ok let's try together
the first one indicates that the activity is still going on whereas the 2nd one is more of a statement/declaration
Hi slr, yes I'm malay.U can dm me and I'll try my best 🙂
wow 🥰
Hi
Hlw
hello
guys, what is the right answer, and why? plz
(Oof for some reason this one is hard for me idk why) I'd say pick B cause its mentioning a past event and saying "had" makes much more sense than to say "met". Ask others cause even I dunno if this is grammatically right😭😭😭I'm sorry
b
the character above sui is not san, it's wang (2nd tone). it stands for king. 王
san does not have the vertical line running down the three horizontal lines
thanks for the explanation 👍
had met
I'm not a native English speaker, but shouldn't it be A? It doesn't really make sense to me that you would have a perfect (completed) action in such a wide time gap (since most students spend years at university). In the case B were the correct answer, you'd be more likely to expect to have a more specific time, such as for instance "When I started university, I had met him several times." For me, it doesn't make sense that any answer other than A should be correct.
change this into a relative sentence:
I saw a girl. she was crying.
(a) "I saw a girl who was crying"
(b) "I saw the girl who was crying"
A
a
A
How do I improve my German? I'm at A1 level

Okay thank you
np!
@hard cedar @lethal fog @elfin frigate
why not b
bcuz u have a girl in the sentence "before" aka the sentence in the task
because it says "the girl"
Hi everyone, I have pretty important french test in 2 days and I was looking for someone to help me get my grammar right couse I'm affraid that I'm going to fail it 😓 I can help you with polish if any of you are interested
have met makes more sense
Cuz u r referring to a non specific object, so it will be a

Question: Whats the difference between " I barely know him" and "I hardly know him"
Are they used interchangeably? Pls let me know
thanks : )
Guys I'm learning Korean Yonsei1.2
I wish someone would study together with me
barely know him = knowing almost nothing at all
Hardly know him = know more than nothing
idk if that is right lol but i use it that way
Thanks
Hello everyone. I am translating abstract of a scientific report from my language - Vietnamese to English. I don't know what terminology to use, or can someone check the grammar for me?
Sure
The books? Or-
This is my abstract: "One of the side effects of urbanization in Hanoi in the last two decades has appeared in a significant number of "ghost cities": the phenomenon of high vacancy rates and low occupancy rates in urban areas, clusters of buildings, or abandoned housing structures. In order to investigate “ghost cities”, our research proposed a spatial pattern and temporal evolution by combining nighttime satellite data and daytime satellite data so as to establish a “ghost city” index (GCI), quantify and assess the intensity of "ghost city" phenomenon in Hanoi. The GCI was established according to the intrinsic features of “ghost cities”, comprising three criteria: (I)consistency of lit area,(ii) built-up area, and (iii) illumination intensity and population density. The results show that “ghost cities” are prominently spatial clustered, counties and new development zones have higher risk of suffering from the phenomenon and are likely to have less balanced composition among three criteria. Our research not only demonstrates the capability of monitoring “ghost cities” using remote sensing data, but it would also quantify socio-economic phenomenons. Moreover, our findings provide a more objective and spatial explicit insight for urban planners and sustainable regional development." Can you check for me? Thank you so much.
Anyone can speak swedish over here ?
Heyy, I heard Korean language is relatively easy to learn Can anyone approve this?
Learning the Alphabet and vocabulary isn’t the hardest compared to other languages, however Koreans Grammar and grammar structures do make it a hard language. Your native language also makes a huge impact on how “easy” or “hard” it is.
korean grammar is seem like easy but really hard haha
I agree. There’s so many grammar points for very similar sentences, just slight differences
That’s really 😂 im learing sejong 5....let’s study together
Is there someone who want to practice english with me>.<
I want to practice too
book
U guys, we often add suffix in the name of girls like " ie " to sound cuter and use to someone close to us. But what about the name of boys? Is there any ways to add the sufix ?
I'm not sure whether I fully understand your question. If - with the added/changed suffix to a name - you want to abbravate or belittle the original name, I believe that it is not gender specific. Just like with Judith->Judy/Judie or Roxanne->Roxie, we can have the same with Charles->Charlie/Charly or Steven->Stevie.
Yess thank you :>
Helloo, my birth language is Greek 🇬🇷 so if anyone needs help just ping or dm me!
You're welcome! 🙂
anyone want to learn spanish?
Usually A & B are both interchangeably correct. However, I suggest A in this case. B is not the best choice according to me because 'met' is already a past tense and adding 'had' isn't really necessary. For example, we say "I didn't **eat **today" & not "I didn't **ate **today". So in the same manner A sounds more correct to me.
Hello! I'm studying Korean too... 😄
@civic rover yo!
I see, makes sense.
thanks
can you help me with this one too?
I speak Spanish and I wanna learn English, maybe we can help each other.
Of course ~~
slary
Okay so, B is revenue which is basically related to time/duration & stuff which is not applicable here. D is also not much of use here according to me as gain doesn't describe that scenario properly. A & C are both quite right in here. However, in A. which is income we should understand that A means the overall income; for example, if you have 3 houses paying you rent + your job then total money you earn is your income. However, C is salary from only one source which is your job in this case and extra work means extra salary. **Therefore, C seems to be more applicable here. **
wow,thanks for the thorough explanation
great explanation. Thank you very much!
Hey guys. Is there anybody to practice in english? (only ladies, please) It would be great if it is a native speaker of English.
Hello! i'm from South Korean and i'm studying Swedish in Sweden but if you watn to study korean feel free to message me so we can talk and do some language exchange 🙂
hey guys...can u suggest me some good 10 mins documentary for a project report ?
Any particular topic?
it should be based on current affairs or development
well good documentaries are generally rly long, like around 1-2 hrs
if u can invest that much time, then i would recommend The Social Dilemma or RBG
I'm not native, but I'd love to practice with you 🙂
I would like to practice with you 🙂
i can!
Maybe some short youtube documentaries?
Hello, I am Turkish. I want to learn English. can someone contact me with practice? I can help someone who wants to learn Turkish.
@dark lava i would like to practice with you
hey...i am supposed to agree or disagree abt the topic on a documentary.Any sugesstion ? (any duration is fine )
What exactly is your question? Are you searching for a documentary or a topic to discuss? If you already have a topic chosen, then what is "the topic" you've mentioned here?
And are you searching for pro/contra arguments? Please be more specific 😅
i am supposed to do a critical evaluvation on a ducmentary
Yeah, but what do you need help with?
the documentary
most of them is abt a person rather than abt a particular topic
u can't really have a pro/contra argument abt that so....
Just search for "documentary on/about...." or "short documentary on/about...." on youtube and you'll find more than enough documentaries on different kinds of topics, I guess 🙂
can someone help me out, im new. I started learning German and im quite confused where to focus more at the beginning,
should it be speaking, vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, or comprehension?
depends on what level you are... In the very beginning I would say focus on the basic vocab and grammar .
It depends on your end goal and on your native language as well, so could you tell us a bit more about that?
Hello did anyone here ever take the TOEFL test and can tell me how hard it is?
I need a score of at least 81 to be accepted in an exchange program
Not sure but I plan on taking this test as well. Probably in 1-1.5 years tho to study at Kyoto University
I heard it's not that difficult
Ha same I'm gonna try getting into that University or some in Tokyo
That's nice I'm pretty confident in my English should be manageable with some studying
Good luck
Yea don't worry too much! It's manageable if you prepare 1-2 months before
thx you too 😄
When do you plan on going? And how long will you stay
I'm gonna try getting in in Summer 2022 it's the closest date I can apply for rn and I would stay for one semester
how about you?
i plan on going there in april 2023. Then for 4 years 😄
i will study computer science too there
Damn that's a long time
Is it gonna be in Japanese?
Yea it is but studying fulltime in japan sounds nice and I wanted to study abroad anyways
Probably yes. I have to study hard for N1 then :c
Yeah I want to do my masters degree abroad I'll see how it goes
Yea if I don't get accepted for any uni, I will probably apply for mext master scholarship for japan
Yeah it's pretty hard but you got this bro
thx man 💪
uni here in my country is free, there are no tuition
compared to japan with 4-5k euros a semester :c
where are you from?
I come from germany
Same haha
lol
@maiden jungle @torpid tide If you guys ever want to talk/hangout, hit me up. I am currently studying German and am also interested in japan/japanese (I might want to teach English there after I am done)
sure man, sounds good! You want to teach english in germany or japan?
Sure man, where are you originally from?
In Japan. I am currently trying to become a German teacher, that way I have a base for my home country and after that I might want to get a certificate to teach English as well (not necessary but would still be cool/helpful)
Netherlands
Gotchu. Sounds good
Oh okay
Netherlands, it's probably easier for you to learn german than for others, right
They sound soo similar
True
I fell like if you look at it from a conversation/reading perspective it is easier to learn then for other languages but if you look at it from a grammar perspective we don't really have any advantages since the grammar is so different
In welchem Jahr bist du @maiden jungle oder fängst du gerade an?
Yea I agree. I could probably understand a dutch conversation but grammar idk 😄
Not that much but some of it tho
Haha, its mainly the Falle that is a pain in the arse
I'm in the 4th semester studying CS with Japanese as my 2nd subject since this semester but I have studied Japanese at school because my school was in an area where lots of Japanese people live
damn yea
Düsseldorf? 😄
Yes lol
CS?
Well, both of you, ping me if you ever want to speak or something. I am most of the time up for some German conversation etc.! I've also spent a month in Japan, so if that might ever be of help 🤷♂️
Versuch Info Leistungskurs zu wählen bringt jetzt nicht sooo viel aber am Anfang ist es nützlich
Then I canceled school in the beginning of 12th grade and now I am repeating school (Abitur) :/
Alright will do have a good day
Sureee 😎 1 month in Japan? What city
Oh okay
Ja
All over, but I fear this is not the right channel to discuss that
Ob es das in Japan gibt idk.
Aber wer weiß, vielleicht mache ich auch doch nur 1-2 Semester in Japan und nicht das ganze Studium
Idk lol what's the right channel? I am not really active here
#general-chat? Dunno
i mean it's kinda language related
I suppose 🤷♂️
What would you say is your german level A1-C2
Around B1/2
My grammar is still getting there and I could use a bit of a wider vocab but I feel like i am somewhere in that range
I see. What methods did you use so far? I can highly recommend immersion based learning
Check out refold, it has great information on that topic
Well I am in school to learn German so I am learning there, beside that I have spoke German at almost every opportunity I get I i've also had times where I would meet up with german people once a week and speak German for a bit
Sounds really good
I've had a difficult time being immersed in German the same way I did with English since there is just a lot more interesting English content out there
Ohhh hell, yup... for me I would love to immerse more in Japanese and just change the language in content I love to watch. But it's sooo difficult since in japanese, I couldn*t find good content and replace it for english
I mostly watch english stuff, not even german anymore
Yeah, same with Youtube channels right?
yeaaa, youtube it's hard to find good japanese creators
So if you have any recommendations :hint hint : 😛
What type of videos do you like?
I watch a variety of content; a bit of gaming but also short documentaries and just general interesting things
This probably doesn't really help lol
mhmmm 😄
short documentaries you have an english example?

@nimble tinsel I hope that's enough
You're welcome 😎
@nimble tinsel i plan on doin my undergrads in germany, so i hope to learn the language efficiently, and yes im jus a beginner and im still in A1
Hmm, The I feel like focussing on vocab and Grammar might not be the worst Idea
A good way to improve your vocab is by reading things in the field you are going to study/are interested in. seeing as you want to do undergrads in Germany I suppose writing will also be important so make sure to do that, A good way to start out it by writing a weekly/daily diary or blog or something along those lines @hard cedar Also what is your Native language, english?
I have taught German before ....😅
yes ty i highly appreciate :)
tho english isn't technically my first language but im more fluent, compared to other languages
Yeah but if your aim is to only understand it I wouldn't focus to much on Grammar at the beginning since it can be complicated and might scare people away
But in this case I completely agree with @nocturne panther
it would be great if u can help me out :)
I have to say it's not smart not to start with the basic grammar even if it is scary, because once you learn something wrong it'll be hard to unlearn it.... and if they want to study for undergrad in Germany they will need proper grammar...
Oh yeah, for sure it is hard to unlearn And like I said, I completely agree with learning vocab and grammar first in this case!
I can suggest a good book to start with depending on how much time you have and some websites that I personally found work best ^^
my main aim is to be fluent enough in speaking and understanding the textual phrases in books, and being able to form sentences
yep i think its one of the basics that everyone eventually have to learn it at some point, thanks tho.
yes please
sure thing ^^ I'm always up for a conversation in German if you like, I study HCI (Human computer interaction; just a mix of psychology and CS) so if either of those is what you want to apply for can help with that too✌️
thanks alot, and yes im planning to do psychology with other alternatives
Check out the pinned messages as well, there are a lot of resources there
oh if you feel like speaking german lmk too ^_^
Id love to!

In the field of international politics, diplomacy has various forms and sports is one of them.It is a common way of conducting the sports diplomacy to add some sports element in diplomatic activities or to directly use sports events as a diplomatic means.Since the end of WWII,on the basis of its special identity and international status,Japan has...
Heey Max. German is nice, I quite like the language, the only thing that sucks is the grammar cause it is so hard
I also personally have difficulty with the R (Zapfen R I believe) but overal i think german is great
It is just to bad that it has this stereo type of being a harsch language, sure it might not be a s "Sexy" as French of Spanish but it is also a far cry from the stereotypical harshness

Quick help :
The correct sentence in English would be
"In the classroom, there are a door and chalk sticks"
ig it should be
there are chalk sticks and a door
"... in the classroom."
My example and yours convey exactly the same idea, with words differently placed
you know what I mean ?
they changed the placement so it makes more sense grammatically
door = singular, chalk sticks = plural
'there are' = plural, 'there is' = singular
by placing 'chalk sticks' before 'door' using 'there are' now makes sense
"In the classroom there are chalk sticks and a door"
Grammatically speaking, it is exactly the same, since [chalk sticks, a door] form ONE big group (the "CVD" in French).
Saying there are [chalk sticks, door]
= saying there are [door, chalk sticks],
since there are CVD (the elements in the brackets) are multiple anyway
The classroom contains at least one door AND a chalk stick
==> at least 2 elements
==> there ARE, no matter what comes first (door or chalk sticks)
Of course, our brain prefers to see "there are + [plural]",
but "there are + [singular] and [plural]" works just as well,
as in "there are [singular] and [singular]"
In some specific situations, it's even better to write the singular word first, to emphasize its uniqueness
tldr;
"A door and chalk sticks" and "chalk sticks and a door" both work
that's true. and both ways still follow the grammatical rules
i think it comes back to that strange part of english where it's grammatically correct, but one way sounds 'right' and one sounds almost 'clunky.'
but that's just english being a bit shit
someone help in writing notices

Why is it "to eating" and not "to eat"? Are they not both valid?
Also this one, shouldn't both of the two last options be valid? The first you agree to take the bus and buy tickets for it, the second you disagree because it will take too long to get where you want
to eat cuz u r describing an action in near future
wt do v hv to do in this question?
we'll buy a ticket is not correct cuz singular
