Transport is used in a broader way mostly when you need to carry something whereas Transfer is used when you move one thing from one place to another
For example :
A student is transfered to Section A not transported right ?
Goods are transported not transfered right ?
So the term transport requires a vehicle or anything to carry whereas transfer does not .That's the difference hope you get it .

help everyone how do you decide what language to study😭
lain pfp spotted, go for japanese or smth
either you study a language for proximity(ur friends, family speak it), utility(smth that will look good on paper, ergo the most common ones like spanish, mandarin), challenge( i.e. non romance language speakers go for english ; romance language speakers go for hindi, trad. chinese), culture("i wanna live/visit there, therefore i must learn how to speak X"), boredom(let your whims guide you), entertainment(i.e. "the books/shows i enjoy are in X language, why bother waiting for translations when i can just learn it myself?"), aesthetic("russian cursive looks fantastic, i ought to learn russian" "german sounds cool, ..." ), unnecessary flex("watch me SURPRISE natives by speaking in their NATIVE language despite my NON NATIVE appearance" ahh type shit), or unnecessary flex.2("i speak esperanto btw," " i can write in the minecraft enchanting table script btw")
you can also gamble with your time: https://spinthewheel.app/languages
Start with Genki to make it easier even though that roadmap may not be the best, search John in Japan on YouTube and check his Genki Chapters Videos, they may help you a lot to understand and simplify what you are learning on each session.
Give anything a try, anyways it's better to think about, Culture, Level, since if you are trying to go for a language which doesn't have similar sounds at all it will be really hard for you when it comes to pronunciation, like Japanese people with English, English people can learn Japanese easily, but it's a lot harder for Japanese to learn English.
Honestly think about why do you want to study a language first
Is it because of Culture? Is it because of reading? Is it because you want a challenge? Is it because you want to communicate with others? Is it because you want to specify in an area where that certain language is the most used? etc
If you ´´just wanna learn something´´ most likely that won't last long
Time is the most valuable assest we have, decisions should be taken carefully, otherwise you might regret certain things

Hello I am Zeyad u can call me Zenzo, I am 16 I am trying to improve my English , dm me if u wanna talk and improve our English together and we can be friends 🫡🤍
hi!
why cant it be option B?
Based on the search done by carla the theory fails so therefore its not true
The wording here is important., the meaning revolves around " regardless of experimental data..."
So if you rephrased it, it would be something like "despite experimental data... the theory of group 1 was not compelling."
Meaning that the data confirms the theory.
Which, as you understood, is wrong.
sobs🥲
i still didn't get🥲
Mmh do you know the meaning of "regardless
" or "despite"?
Lemme rephrase
Even if Carla team had
WAITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT IG IT CLICKEDDDDDDDDDDDD
Haahahah nice 🔥
You're welcome

Hi guys! Maybe you know resources where it is possible to find pdf books?
I try to find the book smth like “2500 common Polish words”, at least I can buy it, but if I can, I would like to find it in open source
Thanks for help in advance :3
I believe Polish is still a bit uncommon language to learn so there are not that many of free resources in pdf, but I've found something that is partly for free or something with small payments required. 1. https://www.polishpod101.com/learn-with-pdf?src=bc_LearnPolish1_Search_Polish-USA-S-Main_Polish-PDF_c__polish grammar pdf&msclkid=01e2f8a73826143187d49e66ab9156a5&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Polish-USA-S-Main&utm_term=polish vocabulary pdf&utm_content=Polish-PDF 2. https://www.scribd.com/document/380814965/1-000-Most-Common-Polish-Words-With-AUDIO 3. https://www.pinhok.com/kb/polish/242/100-basic-polish-vocabularies/ It's not much but maybe someone will come up with something better, but I'm native Polish so if you need any other help feel free to hit me up 🙂
Want to improve Polish faster? Download free Polish PDF lessons on PolishPod101. These Polish cheatsheets are a must-have for beginners!
The document lists the 1,000 most common Polish words along with their English translations. Each Polish word entry includes an audio player to hear the pronunciation of the word. The words are numbered and include the Polish word, an audio player, and the English translation.
omg thank you soo much for your efforts!!
nie ma problemu 😉 Good luck with learning!
The two places I often go to when looking for pdfs of books are libgen and archive.org
do u guys have any online free resources to learn spanish
Do you have any website or app suggestions for english exercises?
anyone want to practice french withe me? we could text every now and then
annas-archive.org, it scrapes from all known shadow libraries like libgen
how does jvsholz sentence mine anime in linux? He does learn japanese, right? Does he even do that? I tried installing mpvacious. It works, but mpvacious’ clipboard insterter & renji’s texthooker ui doesnt…ergo I can’t utilize yomitan to look up words and add them to anki. I’ve tried it both on chromium and firefox.
I've used migaku for a while which is pretty good, though it is paid 😁
hey guys i am not here to reinvent the wheel, how to study kanji for the first time, anything helps
I think the world is suggesting you to just don't do it
im managing with yomitan on firefox. Regarding sentence mining on anime, i did pretty well on android via Jidoujoushi, so I'm thinking of running an android emulator and calling it a day.
Someday I'll try again but I suppose convenience does win sometimes.
Also a very shallow, narrow remark I must say. However its understandable. Unfortunately I'm a masochist.
The paywall is a barrier indeed. I'm a selfish internet pirate. Thanks for the info, though! Maybe when Im more generous in the future ill try it.
Learning trad. chinese for a bit helped. The HSK5(iirc) chinese characters basically cover the N5 kanji. If you're less inclined to learn a whole new language, try https://jpdb.io
The decks are premade and free. Accounts do not require an email. There are premade decks for anime and other misc. stuff like GENKI & TOBIRA vocabulary. The mnemonics for kanji in this site is wonderful. Partly in due to borrowing from other sites like jisho.org i think(?) and because users in the jpdb discord server share their own special mnemonic. Besides that, it teaches kanji from the ground up- from basic core components of a kanji to basic whole kanjis to multi kanji kanjis, something to that effect.
There is also the case of simply doing away with reviewing kanji altogether, and rather study vocabulary with kanji. It is apparently more effective. Atleast for me. You can read about it for more clarification. This is a good start for reference: https://morg.systems/List-of-Bad-Ideas-for-Japanese-Study
I can help you, I've perfected my setup but its a lot so dm me
wanikani is a decent paid option but there isn't anything you can't do with anki (its also the only app I've found with full offline support) if you are willing to put in a little extra work. At the end of the day, my best advice to starting to study Japanese though is just to stumble through it until you can sentence mine media you want to consume.

why option D is wrong? In 3rd last line "He met some fragment huge, and stops to guess". A person would only guess if there isn't any info about how the kingdom got destroyed to dust. If it's written in history books ppl won't have taken a guess. so option D makes sense to me but its wrong option why?
your answer D indeed makes sense, but in this context, the old kingdom of Ozymandias is discussed in this way more than once. There is another poem called 'Ozymandias' by Shelley, that specifically emphasizes on the fact that the once-great kingdom is now nothing but ruins and dust.
The most important thing is the confidence of Ozymandias. He proudly presents his power and his mighty kingdom, but even with all it's greatness, time will eventually destroy it.
option D. is an afterthought in this paragraph as you can tell since the only thing supporting it are two lines at the very end of the passage. The main body of the text is concerned with the king Ozymandias and shows the empires decline in power ex. A single "leg" being the only evidence of a man called the "king of kings".
Hi guys, when using Anki, do any of you translate the meaning of each expression into your native language, or is it more recommended at a certain point to write the meaning in your target language? I mean, putting the definition in the language you're interested in to avoid thinking in your native language. In the beginning, I was doing it that way, but as time has passed and my level has improved, I thought it would be better to make the change
hello im interested
sorry for the late reply, im swept up with other business and i keep forgetting to reply
one issue is im a linux mint user(absolute beginner), will that be okay? im willing to learn though
for sure, none if it is too complicated and I can teach you things if you'd like
add me, I don't really wanna spam this chat
doing X-X language flashcards will prove beneficial if you're planning to solely think and speak in that language but you will eventually lose the ability to translate X to Y and vice versa proficiently if that's alright
youd probably be more suspect to code switching or having the dillema of trying to say # in english when you only know it in X language, leading you to search it up or smth(happened to me)
however if you have reached the point of doing anki in French back french front for example, then you can practice language learning via reading watching listening talking in that language and using a dictionary. Congrats, youve graduated from anki
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code-switching
In linguistics, code-switching or language alternation occurs when a speaker alternates between two or more languages, or language varieties, in the context of a single conversation or situation.
Code-switching is different from plurilingualism in that plurilingualism refers to the ability of an individual to use multiple languages, while code-s...

Hiii!!
Can anyone recommand me which platform should I study from for SAT be it paid or free online resources especially for ENGLISH. Please help me out i really dont know which platform to depend upon or which is the most authentic resources among all.
I always felt like studying for English didn't do much but for me, it helped just reading more books in general that were more out of my comfort zone and paying attention to whats happening in the book instead of just glossing over stuff. But overall some websites have previous SAT tests with all the questions but not the answers! I think those should help a lot. (I would send the website but I'm not sure if I'm allowed)
Thank you for ur time and advice!! I always wonder which type of book one should read which in accordance to SAT exam. You can dm me the website links and i would be really grateful🫶

duolingo accountability
Hello guys, is there anyone who can recommend me a free website, app or yt channel to learn Danish and Swedish? Wishing good luck for your studies🫂
any tips for someone who is studying spanish and french at the same time? learning more vocabs and all
I bought a book off of Amazon called 2000 Korean words. But I would also recommend funpik or Duolingo.
Duolingo words reputation helps to remember the word and meaning.
how do you study these words from this book ?
it looks interesting i wrote it down lets see what i can do with it
what is your korean level ?
The books had English definitions and example sentences, so it was easy to understand
I did a course online to learn the basics of Koreans and bought a couple of grammar books to understand grammar.
I cleared level 2 last year, I attempting TOPIK2 now to clear 3-6 levels
Hello guys, what are the best books to learn German? and is there any good way or method to learn?
how can i learn english spooken, is there any YT channel ??
tips on learning spanish and french
"English Fluency Journey"
Korean dungeon, infinite Korean, Drops @pure pewter
Are you taking this octobers TOPIK?
Yup, the one on 12th Oct. Are you giving it too??
I was going to when I was in Korea, but Im deciding to give it another year or 2. How are you currently studying for it?
I think in Korea it's on Sunday, Asia is sunday and Europe and Americas in Saturday
I bought a bunch of books and got some PDFs online. I am struggling but trying my best lol
Oooh I see. Do you HTSK and TOPIKguide ? They are really good resources
TOPIK2 also includes writing which is a really hard thing
I bought a writing book in Korea to start studying on my writing skills early on
I am using the TOPIK guide, Darakwon's TOPIK 2 guide and TalkToMeInKorean PDFs
I am using Darakwon's cracking the Topik2 writing book.
TOPIK 2 is really hard. The gap between Topik 1 and Topik 2 is too much
It’s incredibly hard too. However to get a 6 you need to do almost perfect on listening and reading and get around 50 points for writing minimum. So honestly you can do realllly well in reading and listening and somewhat poorly in writing and still get TOPIK2 level 6
Considering writing is the most common hardest skill in the TOPIK exam
Yeah,I scored only 95 last attempt, but I scored 52 in listening. My 쓰기 is the worst. So I am only aiming for level 4 this year, I will prepare for another year and attempt for level 6. The 문법 is really hard. Also the time is very less for 쓰기 시험
I would recommend to get a Korean tutor for writing if your budget allows it. That’s something Im going to definitely do, and something Natalia Garza (Famous Korean learner) and other advanced Korean learners have suggested. Are you currently following a curriculum to learn more 문법?
I currently use TTMIK and the KGIU book for grammar. I occasionally pitch in HTSK or youtube to help as well
Yes, topik guide has advanced level grammar patterns and I use the topik guide for jt as well.
My problem is not budget but time, I have a fulltime job and i live alone so i need to do every myself. I cant give my studies more that 4-5 hours a day
All the language institutes we have dont have sessions after 5 pm and I cant leave work like that. So I'll just try alone as much as I can. I have a korean friend who i occasionally ask help for she lives in korea so kinda weird with the timezone
Omg I might need to start incorporating TOPIK Guide more into my study routine then. Ah I understand. Honestly that does sound hard. But from what I’ve been seeing, youre doing a great job with balancing everything
Lol I am not, I am barely scoring 100 in my reading and listening
You are lucky to have institutions. There is apps like Preply and Italki, where those are paid tutors, for as long as 10USD. I havent personally used it but I have a friend that does use Preply to advance her grammar faster and she has great reviews about it. That can definitely be an option as well.
Korean timezone really is tricky
If its okay to ask, what are you currently scoring?
What's preply? I don't have enough time rn to actually incorporate anything new. My exam is in 30 days
Tutoring, exactly like Italki.
I am scraping 50 marks in reading and listening and maybe a 30 in writing. I made stock sentences for the 300-400 글 question
Aw I hope you aren’t stressing too much and youre able to study efficiently
Honestly in 30 days, which 4-5 hours everyday, you can definitely get that up
I have faith in you 화이팅
감사합니다🍀❤️
Anyone has the secret to remember phrases ?
I want to learn Arabic language ,beginner .Is there anyone who can give some tips on how to learn it and be fluent or anyone so we can practice together *only possible if same gender :)
Your plan should be to learn Modern Standard Arabic (Fus’ha). Start by learning the alphabet, and then move on to basic grammar. This way, you’ll be able to build simple sentences.
By basic grammar, I mean:
Nouns and Adjectives
Present Tense and Past Tense
Common Prepositions
And try to learn with others who have the same goal. Maybe join a Discord server or a subreddit, or find a study group. And try to learn some vocab each day(even if it's little)
Oh Okay understandable ,Thanks for the guidance and tips .

I want to write about how I changed a method so that it would be easier to do it the same way for all samples.

Hello, my friends, I want to pass my exam about IETLS ACADEMIC, someone can help me? I wish to have the best note. Thank you.
I'm Egyptian. If you are confused about something in Arabic Grammer, you can freely ask me, and I think it's better after knowing the alphabet to focus on learning a specific dialgt. You know no one speaking Fusha nowadays

Anyone who has learned a language, how long did it take you to get a B2 level and what was the general style of learning?
10 months year to get HSK4, acutally, when you can use about 800 vocabs fluently you are about level B1...B2. Don't try to learn new words as much as you can. Try to learn how to use it in real life and practice it

Any one want to ask about arabic i can help
Hey guys! I’m a second year nursing student currently studying in Manila, but I’m originally from Texas. As a teen, language barriers were a common encounter at my first job - especially Spanish since I’m from Texas. I also believe in the importance of language learning - both in work and on a personal level as I absolutely love it. I wanna learn Spanish but, which dialect do y’all recommend I learn? Mexican since Texas is right above Mexico and it’s the most spoken one? Castellano since it’s the purest form? Or should I pick the dialect based on the countries I love, such as Argentina? I know Spanish ain’t Arabic, so the dialects are still very mutually intelligible with each other. Thanks guys!
wait he made a baller ass circle free handed
I learned it as a kid, my main issue because of my mother language was I was trying to do it with my throat, you probably have a different issue and it's hard to help without hearing your attempts but you use your tongue, your tongue is being moved up and down by a slight amount of air you kind of have to breathe out (like you would breathe out to heat your hands on a cold day) with the vocal you add to the articulator, the noise happens by the interruption your tongue causes on the airflow while the air causes it to move up and down, it slaps against the top and bottom of your gums, the tip of your tongue is the thing that slaps and it should be positioned on the arching point of your upper gums (the alveolar ridge), where your gums transition into the larger area of your mouth. This (at least for my tongue) causes it to arch a little to position the tongue at that spot, meaning the back of my tongue is tense while the front is more loose, be sure to not press your tongue against your gum at all, it needs to move freely. You also need a slight arc in the horizontal of your tongue to guide the airflow in the right way, this means the side edges of my tongue touch my upper gums but very far out, so they make contact with my back teeth, this tutorial gives more practical steps to reach that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfMadRajLPg it's about spanish but teaches it well in general, he exaggerates the time it takes to learn it, some people do it in a day but it will 100% take a little practice to figure out how it all needs to feel to produce the noise.

I am a linguistics student trying to use the English Corpora for the first time.
My task is to do a RICE (recognize, identify, correct, explain) analysis on article usage.
I have to find a sentence with an article in it (preferably used wrongly) but I have absolutely no clue how to use this corpus.
Does anyone have some tips?
Compare genres, dialects, time periods. Search by PoS, collocates, synonyms, and much more.
I cannot communicate with my grandma who speaks a village form of Punjabi. Idk much about to but it is called mirpuri and when I search it up to learn it, it is referred to as pahari. Idk if anyone will know the language but in case there is could someone please help me learn the language. I wanna be able to speak to my grandma before she passes or before I die.

I'm actually Spanish, so if anyone is interested in learning Spanish in exchange of teaching me English i would be highly appreciated?
pd: I consider myself somewhere near a C1 English level
Would you be interested?
no ill regards towards spanish but I hate my spanish course so much. We have to do a presentation but about an entire movie..
And I hate my counselor who decided it was a good idea to no inform me that taking spanish was entirely optional and that I could take other langauges like ASL, Chinese, or French.
Why don't you ask chatgpt or any Ai version
Didn’t think of that tbh
Hello everyone,
For a school assignment, I need to collect language biographies written in French. A language biography is a personal story where you describe your relationship with languages, the languages you speak or learn, how and why you learned them, and their importance in your life.
This could also be an interesting exercise for you, as it allows you to reflect on your linguistic journey while sharing your experiences. If you’d like to participate, you can send me your text via private message. You can also submit it anonymously if you prefer.
This is a serious project, and your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to contribute!
Hello folks! I am looking for some website or app to practice translation.
Languages: Korean, japanese, English
I am specifcally looking for something that gives you sentences in English and you need to write its translation in other language and vice versa.
I want to practice translation for job search and subtitle writing.
Anybody has any idea for such thing?
okay okay, anyone who knows spanish help please:
in the pics, one of them is the task by chatgpt the other my solution... am I just stupid or is there really either a word too much or one word that's not needed in the tasks where I crossed it out or added one in the back
hello, in general your answers are correctly, i think in this exercise you can answer in different ways, for me in your 4 response you can change "tambien" like "mis amigos viven cerca de mi colegio y tambien vamos a clase juntos". for me have more coherence being a native spanish speaker, 6 ansewr is incorrect, for me the correct is "Necesitamos ir en el coche porque el supermercado esta lejos", i dont include "no" in this question cause dont have coherence haha, if you need more help, i can help. gl!
the question rather was if chatgpt made some mistakes in giving me example tasks.
The goal of the task originally is to use all words and bring them in the right order. But I just thought that some of those words don't fit (crossing them out) and wanted to know if I was correct with crossing them out

Give me some good Arabic books to learn from because the 🤓☝🏻👮🏻♂️MODERATORS will tell me to go in general
No I mean like an actual resource to learn Arabic from
Madinah series is actually trash not gonna lie the format of the book is so weird and you basically need to have a teacher it's basically just a decoration on my shelf
The Quran has different Arabic.
Alr np, quranic Arabic is usually learnt to understand Hadiths and Quran. This is because the words don’t have one meaning in the Quran they have multiple. If u could understand quranic Arabic u should be able to understand modern day Arabic however speaking would be different

any germans here? I started learning your language at the end of july this year and I'd like to have conversations with natives to improve
yo, hows the progress

https:[ obfuscating link]//discord[obfuscating link].gg/german
This server has practice rooms with natives and there are always many active (It keeps getting deleted if I post the link directly but you know what to do)
thanks mate!
Kein Problem, mein Brüder
I'm late, but publicly calling a book 'trash' that has benefitted thousands of other people is misleading.
Yes, you need a teacher to make you understand the Grammer concepts, that is true for any other hard languages.
I've read that book and it is easy to grasp the grammar concepts as they include sufficient example sentences; if we practice enough.
Hello!
I’m looking to improve my English speaking skills, but it’s hard to find fluent speakers where I live. If anyone has the time and energy to chat with me or play games together while speaking English, I’d really appreciate it! Thank you! ❤️
Hi :D
I want to improve my English (especially speaking), so it would be nice to talk to someone. It doesn't have to be school related, we can talk about our interest or play sth etc.
Hello people, any native german? I have a couple of questions to ask for

Is anyone learning German? I'm beginner of learning Germany

Hey fellas, i'm learning french for about a year now, do you guys know any good french gaming channels on youtube? or just french channels in general
Ik this isn't what you asked for but one thing that helped other students in my french class was a grammar book called Bescherelle. Here's a PDF : https://ieltsdaily.ir/static/downloads/Bescherelle (la conjugaison).pdf
That also helps a lot, thank you very much
What are some resources for learning German that are free?
Fsi language course surely
Me and a few friends are only going to watch/listen to content in the languages that we're learning during the month of January. If anybody is interested in joining, add and dm me.

Look up free college courses!
By completing all free online Mandarin Chinese lessons provided here, you should be able to manage basic pronunciation, learn some vocabulary and acquire certain simple Chinese sentence structure.
I would focus on memorizing more than learning if that makes sense. Like I did that well-learning Manderian I would just do a bunch of work for it and felt comfortable doing it but I wouldn't remember doing anything a month later. It's like what they would do in elementary school and just have you sit there and trace letters over and over
Ok wow this is rlly helpful thank you! Hope you guys are having a good new year so far
Of course! Hope your New Year is going well as well let me know if you need anything else. I'm glad to help!

Any college course either free or payment online will help alot

I would try to focus on memorization rather than completing a bunch of work

What specifically do you want to improve in?
HEY GUYS HOW U DOING YALL ? HOW CAN I LEARN SPANISH ? A PRODUCTIVE WAY OF COURSE
YOU CAN USE FSI LANGUAGES COURSES, OTHERWISE HARRAPS MAKES GREAT METHODS, MAYBE ASSIMIL BUT I'M NOT SURE ABT THE QUALITY 4 THIS ONE
I HEARD DUOLINGO SAYS SPANISH OR VANISH, SO HE CAN HELP, TRY SPRAKING IT TOO, ONLINE OR IRL
?
@serene pilot Sorry for the late response! (I'm an English language tutor hehe) I would honestly suggest watching more films or vlogs (whatever video genre you'd prefer) in English with available subtitles to help with speaking. When watching reality television shows (although exaggerated) or vlogs, you can see/hear the nuances in casual communication. That is a more accessible way at least. There's a program called Mango Languages online that is free with some libraries, but I think it's $11.99 USD if you cannot access it freely. https://mangolanguages.com/english-course/
Hi! I am looking for someone to talk to in order to improve my english speaking skills :D

Hey! Could an english native speaker help me out? In this sentence what does the word gutter mean: Beneath the
canopy, the bright pink petals of campion gutter; the luminous blue towers of bugle
are extinguished, too. By the context and what i looked in the internet i think it may be something like glow, because of the color of the petals but if someone could help me i would be grateful. Thx in advance!
fade away
its like saying the spark of the bright pink petals of campion dimmed down and is actively fading away

Does anyone have tips, websites, and book recommendations to study Chinese and German Language?
if you arent at a basic level yet(and arent sure you're gonna stick to it), start on duolingo, its good for building the habit of learning the language.
After understanding basic grammar focus more on anki and immersion.
If you do immersion only you'll be lost with not knowing the words. So use anki to memorize as many words as you can.
If you got to the level that youtube and movies don't challenge you anymore(and your pronunciation is good), switch to books.
For chinese, maybe read the classics(journey to the west, tao te ching are both public domain but a bit difficult). For german you could read the many children's stories( https://germanstories.vcu.edu/ ) or many other famous books
(qualifications: im a chinese guy learning germam)

Hi yall, If there is someone that would like to talk with me in english (or finnish) right now, now it would be a perfect time, Im so boreddd-
Is there anybody here who would be fine with chatting with me in Spanish from time to time to work on my Spanish skills?
Bro you still lookin? 😭
reading is your best bet, get introduced to complex vocab and grammar that way
i'd still suggest it because that's the method i've used to improve myself in another language and it works because you get used to the grammar and can recognise phrases much faster
seeing the same kind of pattern over and over puts it in your head well, and you learn new words that get reused in the novels
looking for guy who is learning english(im like A1 - B1 level). I want to develop my speech skills
Hi! im new to german learning via duolingo ive done a few units my German score is at 8 currently

hey guys, i need some help. when writing Chinese, do i need write it stick together?. because i don't have enough space to write some line. i just started to learn how to write chinese
Hello Guys , I need learn english some tips but in English
Watch movies and shows in English
no
your radical should be together, of course, because that forms the character
but for example, two characters of a compound word don't need to be on the same line
🇮🇹 Hi there! I currently study in italy and I find myself struggling a bit with speaking - even though I understand almost all italian speech and uni material perfectly.
I'd like to make friends with native italian speakers who would be willing to bear with me and push me to speak more, ideally through calls or even voice messages :)
@simple vessel
Hello there, need a hand?
Hi, yes!
Feel free to hit me up whenever you want to! I'm a native, I may be of help
Wow logic. You're being so nice
Shut it.
does anyone know how you can quickly write down notes for like a listening exam? i have japanese listening test tmrw but i can write my notes fast enough and i end up missing things
you need to have techniques
and a good foundation on listening
it’s absolute not for beginner bro
it’s been 2 years since I’ve done that
I dont remember too much, just one tip bro
it is trying to write down main verbs of sentences, verb is the heart of sentence
if you understand verb, you can easily undersentence sentence and the context
the essence of taking note is write what is important to paper and u need to find techniques abt it and pratice a lot of times
also you need to have a good listening skill
the essence of listening is just still listening xD
Heyy! Can anyone here explain me when to use sehen/ansehen/anschauen in german? Thanks
tbh join a japanese discord server and download anki a flashcard app. its great for every subject really but when u need to learn kanji or words its useful. if u want i can scavange for some of my old beginner japanese resources for u
oh and use jisho
its a dictionary website
there are a lot of sources on the internet, japanese has probably the most free and easily accessible resources to western people of any asian language you can learn
since it's so easy to find sources to learn from just off google, youtube, and reddit, i instead think this will help you more:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/10bRzVblKVOsQJjTc2PIi1Gbj_LrsJCkMkh0SutXCZdI/edit
this is a general path that you can follow instead of aimlessly learning random bits and bobs that you can't quite fit together yet
you're still going to look for resources and lessons, but with this you'll have an idea of what you need to get started on in what order
it would be great : )
thanks
Does anyone have any good resources for learning Polish beyond memorising words? I feel like I've got a small vocabulary but some of the verb derivations etc seem like something I need to study in a way beyond memorisation with flash cards
pimsleur
mention free things that helped you improve your English or Spanish😔❤️
dora the explorer
This app ?
This so cute and creative
thank you! its a tip worth looking into
I will use this way thanks bun🥰
what is the best app for learning a language and can let you actually have a conversation
Could s.o give help me practice my speaking skill 🥲🥲
Mimick natives
hi, is it still relevant?
hii, i need tips on how to learn Japanese, but i dont know where to start and im very confused, if anyone has any tips or any applications that could help please let me know, have a great day <33
there's a pinned message that broadly outlines what entails when you learn a language and what tools you can use
in fact i highly suggest looking at the pinned messages because a lot of them are about japanese
from my own research, you can use this reddit post
#languages-help message
the poster created a sort of path summary of his own journey, which you can use as a sort of ciriculum if you need a guide on how to progress
you're going to need to do a lot of your own thinking and your own resourcefulness, there's no handholding in self-learning a language
tysmm
the standard textbook is Hurra Po Polsku if you can get a copy, and maybe use chatgpt to help explain the concepts if you dont have a teacher
hey hey, looking for someone to practice my spanish. let me know if you’re interested:)

Hello
Hello
Hello i like french language but idk any words how can i start?
YouTube is great, i can recommend cyprien, he makes podcasts
Music might be a bit too fast paced
Now the first thing i have to do is what? Watching french podcasts?
I think so yea
Im trying to remember how I learnt english in the first place, and thats how it worked
At least for comprehension
For written compréhension I geeked half the Wikipedia articles about historic events. English is so complète, youll have to seek to find à subject that interests you AND got material in the french language
heyy i'm looking for someone who speaks levantine arabic (so the dialect spoken in palestine, syria, jordan, libanon) to practice my arabic with me. I could offer helping with German! :)
My mom is arabic and i can understand it but i am really bad at speaking, so i want to secretly learn and improve it to surprise her :) Also if anyone has recommendations for arabic youtubers or podcasts let me know!!
Anyone learning Ukrainian or speak Ukrainian?
If anyone needs help with learning Arabic&Hebrew.. I’m here 🦦
Hi how u doing , I’m from Jerusalem and i can help you out if u want
thank you perfect! i'll write you a dm :)
Does arabic has grammar?
What I would recommend is to watch movies or to listen to music
Even looking at series you know with audio in french but subtitles in your own language
But French is known to be a hard language so it's not really by talking with natives that you will learn
For those who use Anki to study Japanese, I have created new decks from the movie Kimi no na wa and Ghost in the Shell with audios, images and explanations (annotations) for each phrase. I hope it helps :anki: It is available on Ankiweb: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1785113964
How can i find someone who speaks french to talk with?
And how can i learn by listening to music you mean with lyrics?
go listen to tous les memês
i went from speaking ok german to a hardcore parsian who swears in french and works in the hpspitality sector
\j
💃
I recently started learning German, and I've explored different websites yet I didn't quite get a strong backbone structure for my language learning. I am currently using Duolingo but I don't think from a personal pov that it's preparing me for real life language fluency (if u get my point here)
However I can build up basic sentences: For example :-
Hallo, ich heiße Sanu. Ich komme aus Sri Lanka. Meine Muttersprache ist Sinhala und ich spreche nicht perfekt Deutsch.
But I want to gain fluency in this language. Specially in Speaking, Reading and Undestanding.
It would be helpful if anyone could give me any suggestions for my language learning. It would be helpful if I could engage with native speakers and correct my mistakes and make progress.
Thank you for taking your time to read my msg. 💙
Some online platforms exists for that but I specifically told you that it might not be a good idea
Yeah and exactly with the lyrics
as if you listen to a music you like you'll probably learn better by listening and understanding the lyrics, that is a sort of improvement
Since your conversation with Loulou keeps going, I suggest also keeping up with Duolingo (for vocab) and maybe Le Point du FLE for grammar. But the most important thing is to find what you like, even if you don't understand. There's radio, podcasts, tv shows... For me, it was literature, maybe for you is music 🙂
does anyone here have experience with taking SIELE exam for spanish?
Me too
Hi everyone 👋, Is anyone preparing for the IELTS test?
Hi, people, I want friends to speak English with, also speak Latin-American Spanish. So, if you're interested, feel free to dm me.

hey, any polish speaker here?
Thank you but idk any words is it normal?
Do you recommend any books that will help for beginners/novice? When I was studying French in France, my host family had Harry Potter in French and it was way too hard for me
Hi everyone!
I’m looking to join a small, active group chat on Discord to practice and improve my English. If you’re part of one or know a group like that, I’d love to join! 😊
Thanks in advance
Don’t stress it
Oh Harry Potter was actually one of my ideas, but maybe start with comics ? As the text is often related to the actions of the characters which could help ig ?
For the correlation between the actions and the text, I would maybe recommend Uncle Scrooge which is named « Picsou » un French (basically it’s a play on words with « pique sous » which means coins stoler)
To improve your understanding faster Comprehensible input works
Steven Kaufmaan explain very well in him youtube channel.
Just listen and read a lot material made to natives... If it's very difficult, start learning common vocabulary
It's more fun too than another ways.
Thank you ❤
I will try that
yw, another thing... Not learn individual word learn it in phrases.
Don't stress too much for learn a word a same day, if the word is important you'll see it again and again in other contents
hey, I'm french, I can help you if you want
Whats the best way for a person to improve their french writing? I speak french natively, and have gone through both elementary school and secondary school in french. But, I have always had a hard time writing in french compared to my peers. I find it very hard to construct sentences with the appropriate tone and vocabulary, as well as the correct syntaxic construction. In may, I went through the Épreuve Uniforme de Francais (which is a 900-word dissertation critique). I also had a very hard time coming up with ideas and meeting the word count. I found out mid-july that I failed it, and was signed up for the next exam early next month. I have no clue how to prepare...
I dont have the exact results, but Im a 1000% sure I failed because of grammar mistakes, since more than 30 mistakes makes an automatic fail
Just write
No other way
Find prompts in the internet or go through past tests dissertations and practice
Hey guys, do you know any groups on discord for learning spanish, korean and japanese? To ask questions, help each other and keep each other accountable.
Also, do you have any tips for staying disciplined and consistent with learning languages as an ADHD person? I finished my degree a couple of months ago and now I feel like I have lost the ability to study since no one is supervising me, giving me a deadline to learn something and no one tests my knowledge with exams. I just can't be disciplined without any external pressure, I just can't push myself for some reason, even tho I really want to learn languages
If anyone is learning Russian, can you recommend me some YouTube channels?
I'm thinking to start learning japanese/spanish on daily basis, my uni's gonna start after a few months so I'm pretty free for now.
Wanna invest this time in building the skills that i aspire to have, wanna connect??
Me too I am starting Japanese too so .....how are you starting like from yt right.?
yeah, there's this 150 vid playlist, I'm using that
Can you dm me or just tell me the name ?please...
done
Guys, can you do a favour and recommend to some chatbox to explain everything about a japanese word. Such as meaning, pronunciation, synnonyms, origin, culture story...
chatbox? you will have to explain what that is
if you're looking for dictionaries, the one everyone uses is jisho: https://jisho.org/
on mobile, i use takoboto, but it seems there is also a webpage version: https://takoboto.jp/
additionally, if you want learning to be funny, i suggest trying kanjidamage, it's funny: https://www.kanjidamage.com/
if you're looking for the origin and culture story of the kanji... i have no idea, but personally my recommendation is just searching for the character in chinese instead, because while kanji is an adoption of chinese characters, not all of the kanji represent the same meaning as they do in chinese - if you want to find the origin story of a character, you should look at the source of the character which is chinese
that's only if possible: not all kanji originate from chinese, and even if they do originate from chinese characters, they may have been modified or simplified over time
yoo, anyone knows what is james set up for learning japanese? I saw he's learning by reading books and then adding words that he do not know to anki flashcards that he can later review. This sounds more fun than going through workbooks and so on. Does anyone know how to set it up? are there any extensions to for example pdf's that will let me highlight any word and add it to anki?
okay, sorry guys I found out myself it is yomichan extenstion for japanese and for example readlang for spanish that I will learn. Happy learning
Hellooo

3 should be the blank for A, i dont see the blank for B
the formatting is damaged, there are four blanks in A
A and B just represent each respective person speaking, you're not supposed to fill in anything for B
i'll copy the text and correct the formatting
A - 会社 __ __ __ __ 行って いますか
B - わたしはあるいていっています
my personal thought is "会社へは何で行って いますか", but i could be wrong, i'm not very strong with the grammar
in my eyes there are actually only three options here: 何で is pretty obviously going to be stuck with each other
so we just need to order へ、は、と何で
well, i think へ modifies the noun to concern its direction, then は makes it possessive so the entire sentence up to that point clearly conveys that getting to work is the topic, then we can finally ask what [何で][行って]いますか
What would be the best way to learn kana? I'm kinda not remembering anything when I sit down and try to learn it myself...
using something and using it often are the most important things to retaining something into your long term memory
remember that studying is basically trying to trick your brain into thinking that a piece of information is important to your life in some way by showing it to your brain often
i used tofugu to learn kana personally
they teach in sections of sound, and after every section give you a little review and quiz
https://www.tofugu.com/japanese/learn-hiragana/
to use it outside of a study environment... well, my friend sent me child picture books 😂

yo, I've been looking for someone to practice English with. I am intermediate.
yo guys, I want to learn Japanese context: I don't know a single word and just wanna learn for fun and still want to be fluent. any recommendations?
I can help
read the pinned messages
there's pdfs for two genki textbooks which are highly recommended for starting out learning japanese, as well as various other resources
i'm going to make a suggestion: find a reason to learn, don't learn for fun
when you learn for fun, you give up when things aren't fun
if you don't have a motivation to do something beyond whimsy and being bored in the moment, you won't muster the discipline to carry on when you're bored again in a week
thx
Even though I've learnt English without actually studying it I don't think that's gonna work for Japanese so I really need a reason but I sadly can't find one other than being trilingual lol
I am kind of confused which language I should start with..? Japanese/Korean or french. i'm in senior secondary high school. I wanna learn languages because it's fun to communicate! Also I have this dream of doing a world tour. I tried to learn Korean during the lockdown period but stopped when schools reopened (around 1 year), so! Please recommend from where I should start cause I believe I can make some time for these things too.
learn the one you have reason and motivation to learn
maybe you want to visit or live in the country, or you have friends that speak the language, or you want to do some kind of business in that language
or maybe you deeply enjoy the language and culture, and that interest is capable of sustaining your learning
you shouldn't just choose randomly, choosing to learn something that is a significant time and effort investment that you'll never use will end up being really demotivating in the future
it's impossible to choose for you, this isn't like a course or career where one is easier or more useful than the other
they're all equally useful, and they're all equally complex depending on who you are and what you plan on doing
for the record, i've attempted to learn all three: japanese and korean on my own, and french through school
despite the fact that i learned french in a formal classroom environment for a longer period of time, i'm probably more proficient in japanese just because i have people to talk to in japanese (an environment to practice and an immediately useful reason to learn) whereas i have had no application for french in the past like, fifteen years ever since i learned it
learn the one you're actually planning on using...
Can I DM u? @ocean kite
i'm not sure i can be much help, but sure
Hey yall, I am trying to find a serbian->english dictionary that i can use for my studies, would be could if there are any in the dicthtml format for kobo ereaders so I can use while I read books, but I can't seem to find anything out there

I really need help from someone good at English, because I’m studying for the Vietnamese national high-school graduation exam next year. My English is still weak, so I would love to have a friend who is fluent in English to support me.
Guys how to start learn japanese?
Duolingo is a good start,
but ofcourse it only gives you the certain bare minimum of learning japanese,
but it's not a credible one for VISA
Obenkyo and https://www.fromzero.com are some good ones too, but Kanji gets harder along the way if you do want to know the writing/reading instead of just focusing on speaking/listening
use anki refold method it will help u a lot with memorizing
refold
Does anyone here know resources to learn intermediate french ?
Hi guys, I help busy students with their academic assignments. Anyone who may need this help dm.
I recommend “ttsu ebook reader” you can search it online and put in .epub files. It is best to be reading japanese in .epub files and use a scan-based dictionary like “yomitan” which you can find in your preferred browser extension store
I also like to vouch for “okular” since it comes with highlighting and note which “ttsu ebook reader ” does not have
All of which mentioned above does not need wifi to use 🙂

looking forward people who study English. I'm 16, my level is about A2-A1
what is your current level
Hey guys. How do I start learning English? My level is probably A1-2. I can understand the general meaning of some sentences, but everything else is difficult. I constantly give up studying because I don't have a clear plan, and I always think that what I'm doing is ineffective.
I recommend watching the LingOtter on Youtube, he has a Video about it which is quite good.
Hii everyone! Is there anyone who wants to practice speaking French together? I'm currently at level A1 and I hope to be confident in and fluent when speaking
Hi ya'll, I'm looking for someone I could practice italian with. In exchange I can help with english and german, including the swiss dialect if anyone is interested. Edit: my italian is about A1 right now, but I'm practicing every day so should be A2 in a few weeks.

Looking for people who study English. I'm Alexander, 16 y.o. My current level of Engish is B1-B2. I will be glad to practice speaking skills and just talk with people. I'm russian, so if you're studying that language, I also can help you)
Any recommendations on memorizing vocabulary long term? I'm taking a language learning class, but I've noticed I keep forgetting all my vocab from several weeks ago. What's a good system I could set up to prevent this?
spaced repetition, and actually using the vocabulary
spaced repetition: try a flashcard program like anki, you can try to find a deck for the language you're learning or you can make your own cards
Hello everyone!
If someone is also studying German, please do hit me up. I want someone to practice with! I am basically a toddler at German but I am quite interested in learning it. If you are the same as me, I'd love to team up : )
Hey!
I’m looking for someone to help me practice speaking English, and in return, I’ll help them with Arabic. I want us to practice together and be friends and all that. I think I’m around a B1 level, but I still have a lot to learn. My accent is kinda good, that’s why I wanna practice with someone who’s good at English. Thanks!
Hi everyone! If anyone wants to practice Spanish with a native speaker, feel free to message me! : )
I would recommend making your flashcards on Anki, it's an app with inbuilt spaced repetition
Hey, I'm almost a native speaker (speaking it since Kindergarden) and if you need help feel free to message me. I speak swiss german tho, so I'm able to speak 'normal' german without a problem but my accent will sometimes show through, I also need to learn german for school so we could study together, however our levels will be quite different.
Looking for: Finnish people (or 🇫🇮 learners)
Can offer: (if you want ofc-russian)
im interested in learning arabic, specifically classical arabic, where can i start?

hello guys i use google translate and why it still mark AI, also could someone help me to do discussion
don't
if you need english help, ask for english help - start with looking for resources for language assistance in your school, take extra classes to develop your english skills, do not use machine tools to interpret your writing for you
don't submit machine-translated content, in most schools this is considered academic dishonesty or a violation of academic integrity
in fact, i highly recommend that you talk with your instructor as soon as possible to clear up any misunderstandings, because chances are they are reporting you to the school for a violation of academic integrity which will permanently mark your transcript and follow you in your career
i should explain that before AI, one of the previous ways of cheating in school was to run somebody else's work through different languages on google translate and then convert it back into english
omg im dominican, I can help you~!
What language do you speak, so that I recommend some sources.
english
These are some reliable resources. I hope you find it beneficial.

As any language learning you should first learn about the language basics - not only the alphabet - but also about the culture, countries speak this language, dialects, etc. You should know that Arabic depends heavily on pronunciation. We may have a single word but with different pronunciation and different meanings.

How can I help you?
hey! im taking an english course and id like to start practicing my writing, cause even tho i understand english very well, i have a hard time writing and i make a lot of minor mistakes, both grammar and phrase structure. do you have any tips? i guess writing is what is going to help me being good at writing, but should i just write about my day? look for random prompts?
Journaling is a great idea! Honestly though, if youre looking to improve your grammar the most effective way is having someone correct it for you. So you can use tools like grammarly to help you with it. Or just talk to people and ask them to correct you :)
is grammarly free?
The basic version yeah. You gotta pay for pro. And I think theres other applications that help you with grammar too. If youre looking for physical stuff, I'd say just get a dictionary and/or make a habit out of reading in general
right! ill check it out then. i recently started noting new vocab on a notebook, so im building a "dictionary" and i already read a lot and in english, but as i said when it comes to writing i struggle to make sense so yeah ;-;
thank you! :D
Oh thats awesome! Youre right on track and should continue on
have you found any specific problem areas when it comes to writing?
thankss! and yes, mainly vocab but the worst is really phases' structure. sometimes i get myself writing as I would in my first language, does that make sense? so sometimes the order or the words is not correct, or i use the words that dont mean exactly the same when translated to english
Before diving into writing, you need to know that every language has four main pillars: reading and listening are inputs, and writing and speaking are outputs. So in your situation, you should focus deeply on reading and listening. By them, we unconsciously gain a lot of vocabulary and expressions. We have two types of vocabulary: active vocabulary and passive vocabulary. Active vocabulary is what we use constantly, while passive vocabulary is what we know but we don't use constantly. ( It's like when you read a word that sounds familiar to you but you don't get used to using it )
So to sum up, focus on reading and listening and remember that practice makes perfect, so make writing as a habit to you. You can write your diaries or journaling, but I also recommend learning different writing types like emails, letters, essays, articles, etc. This will help you to know the different levels of the language. I recommend you start with some simple writings and then go deep in topics that need you to research and collect information before writing.
This is a website by Cambridge that has different topics for writing with different types of writings classified according to the language levels, and also has a diagram that analyses your level of writing and records your process with also some help in revising your writing in grammar, spelling, etc.
Also there's an App called: istoria. It is for short stories published by Oxford university. It helps me a lot in learning new vocabulary in an entertaining way.
For grammar, there's a lot of yt videos explaining it in a very effective way. You just need to practice using the different structures or tenses you get and you'll never forget them.
Hope you have a wonderful journey with writing:)
Oh yeah it does! I struggle with it sometimes too. Honestly one of the main tips I've heard and utilised myself with regards to this is thinking in english and paying close attention to my sentence formation
It is quite a difficult task but it definitely helps. In doing so you kinda tend to self correct in your head so that when you transfer it onto paper or text, its already been filtered through
thank you! yes, i think i already got both inputs ahahah
and im already studying different writing types. we're currently studying reports. but yeah, the problem comes when i have to apply new vocab and make my ideas clear, so my text doesnt sound like just short and basic phrases. i appreciate the sources you shared :)
so talking to myself even more? got it ahahahah
but yeah, it sounds really helpful, the idea of thinking in english most of the time
Yeah! And yes it quite literally is
it does get a little difficult when youre so used to it to the point that you sort of lose fluency in your native or other languages you speak though
but yeah, you could try it out and see how it goes
AHAHAHAH not an issue. most of the papers i read in uni are in english, most of my clases are in english, i read in english, so you see i really understand the language, i just struggle when i have to write or speak cause im not used to it. big thank you!
No worries!
Push yourself into writing without stopping till you get the progress you want.
im not much of an expert but i am a native and i find that reading alot in english and making it a habit helps with writing skills immensely
I wish you the best of luck !!
reading and writing (that is, input and output) are two entirely different skills that are really difficult to build at the same time
my suggestion is to try writing a quick book report after reading something
only need to be one or two paragraphs, summarise the book and talk about how you feel about it
this ensures that you will immediately use some of the vocabulary you just read and learned, and makes you think about what those words mean when you have to express your own feelings on what you read
ohh thats something really helpful and fun to do! ill try with my next reading, thanks! :)
Hi everyone! If anyone wants to practice Spanish with a native speaker, feel free to message me! : )
idk i would like to learn to write better essays
Thankyou
Hi all, I'm learning German B1-B2 therefore I am finding partner to practice my speaking skill to use it in daily life. Thank you in advance.
Guys i would like to learn sign language but idk where to start anyone could help?
helloo
i’m learning latin american spanish i’m looking to find a friend that can help teach me. ^^ i can help with ur english as well (even though im Australian i don’t speak fast i promise haha)
dm if interested i like to call and play games
there are a lot of different sign languages, so first choose wich one you will most likely need the most, then find an online dictionary in that language. A sign language dictionary basically includes videos of the signs. Start out with learning things you would most likely use. Whats your reason for learning sing language?
Hey there!!
I want to start learning French. Can anyone recommend some steps, learning strategies, and resources to help me. I have a tiny background in the language since I've studied French in high school.
You could try duolingo; you're in a bit of luck here because it actually has very few completed language courses (up to b2), french being one of them. After you become good enough or finish the course you could try conversating with ChatGPT, change language on devices, games, movie subtitles etc, joining the chat or VC in french discord servers (basically start exposing yourself to it in every day life)
one of my friends did it this way and he's learning it for business purposes; all this helped him tremendously
Thank you for your recommendations. I'll give Duolingo a shot. It sounds like a good place to start. Do you have any French Discord servers or other resources you recommend?
My friend joined a french discord of a game he plays so i cant suggest anything, but i dont think its too hard to look
Usually folks on reddit do a good job at compiling resource lists, so check r/French.
Duolingo is really bad, especially for the languages it targets most, the programs for them are just bloated.
Thank you for the recommendation:)
anyone know how i could learn italian propely? like stuff to help me hold a conversation and learn the language too
yes, I recommend learning vocab you will use. Example: I am learning italian for my job, so i learn words and phrases specifically for my work
So think about in what scenario you will use italian and then focus on that. It will make you feel successful in a relativley short time as well
hi i'm a french person so if you need helps help practicing , i can help you ☺️
Hi does anyone have notes on “longinus: on the sublime”
any good Japanese shows or anime that use pretty basic Japanese?
I want to get used to hearing it
if you dont mind me asking what's the best way for someone with zero experience to learn the language?
i don't think there's a "basic japanese" anime, and i certainly don't think there's even value in something like that
media in another language is typically made for people who speak that language fluently... otherwise, who the hell is gonna consume it? therefore, there's really no such thing as a beginner anime, understand that even kids are fluent speakers at like 5-6 years old
if you just "want to get used to hearing it", then watch whatever you're interested in
if you want to test your comprehension, NHK has a "simple news" webpage that might be interesting for you to read/listen to
https://news.web.nhk/news/easy/
To speak with a Frenchman? I think it's about communicating with us ,French is so complicated
french has the advantage of containing many similarities to english, seeing as english historically partially consisted of some french to begin with
if you think french is hard and complicated, japanese is downright alien because it's a language family from the other side of the planet, containing no similarities aside from loanwords at best
you're going to have a hard time either way, so i wouldn't choose like that
Yesss totalement vrai !/ totally true
It's okay !
yeah im pretty confused by it
Which language would you say i should learn first in Japanese or French?
whatever you think you'll use more
I really don't mind either over the other
Japanese then
if it's french i can help you don't worry
hésiter pas à me DM / don't hesitate to DM me
Hello, anyone know why this is right? I'm very confused.
This is Spanish by the way. #languages-help
Here as well. Isn't it supposed to be bebì?
The one at the top is supposed to be cantamos?
its "bebieron"
Yes, sorry, I meant that.
if you need help, send me dm
Alright, thanks.
Hi guys, sorry if my english is wrong, i don't speak english very well
Someone can help me? I want improve my vocabulary in english, but i don't know how I do that
Recently i start see videos in english, but is very difficult because the people speak very fast
so I think try books, but i don't know which choose
first, cantamos means "we sung", for it to be this you'd need something like "mi familia y yo" anything attached with y yo becomes "us" or the subject could js be "nosotros"
now i think where you're confused is bc it's "my family" and you'd often refer to your own family as "us" or "we" in that case
but for spanish you need more context, you'd need to say "my family and i"
tbh in any language you'd need more context because referring to your own family could not include yourself
because of that it's going to be third person singular so "cantó"
also uh i came here to ask how should i start studying japanese
im not sure if a book is the way to go
but im not that familar with learning vocabulary in a different language
i always heard its good to watch shows but then you're problem of it being too fast appears
you could also watch anime the dub is paced well enough i think
that is what I am doing now, I am watching HxH with english subtitltes, the anime has a low speed so its easy to understand
its really difficult find a book to learn vocabulary, but i have many books to learn grammar
yoo hxh is so good
but yeah that's probably a good way to learn
yeah a lot of literature is kind of locked away due to the complex language but to be honest you could probably do it
like a lot of things are unspoken and you have to tell from like actions what they (the characters) are feeling so i'd go for like YA novels
maybe start with harry potter
can someone help me with this tho
start with learning hiragana and katakana
try tofugu
Alright, thanks.
I recommend watching videos on your interests, so that you both learn and entertain. Turn on the captions/subtitles of the video and write down every single new word you get.
Here are some recommendations:
1- https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcetZ6gSk96-FECmH9l7Vlx5VDigvgZpt&si=FNzwWlXkQzvjyZLu
BBC English learning is the most famous YT channel for beginners. It has short videos on different topics from reliable sources. You can learn new topics and their own words.
2- https://youtube.com/@englishcrunch?si=oHw3bovrehgPopRj
English Crunch is about short stories in different levels. It's interesting and not boring at all.
3- https://youtube.com/@englishbyjay.official?si=1KoWemNO98G10ge0
Here's someone called Jay, who makes videos/ vlogs showing you the new words of things or situations he comes through. It's very helpful and entertaining.
As well as this:
https://youtube.com/@volkaenglish?si=9FfEdUTN0JrcdAoA it's my fav:)
As I said, write down every single word or expression you learn and also try writing a general piece of writing like your diaries or journal so that you activate all vocabulary you learn and even if there are some words you don't know write it in your native language and then search for it after finishing writing.
Listening is a great way to improve your English. When we were babies, we learned our native languages by listening to people around us. So, the best way to improve your English is to listen to as much English as possible.
Here at English Crunch, we aim to provide you with the best stories that are both short and easy to listen to, so you won't...

Much Love ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
Also there's an app called Istoria - i don't know if it is available for downloading for you, but it's very helpful. It has short stories from Oxford Press in levels and it has several features like selecting new words in a list and others.
There's a series of books called English Vocabulary in Use. You can give it a look:)
Thank you very much!! that will help a lot
I will try to find out
This app is really good, a friend recommended it to me.
It's kind of both
Watch what you like in English and also find some little time to read books but it shouldn't be your primal study
Even if they talk fast, soon enough you'll get it
As a Japanese learner I can relate with that vocab speed, with time you'll get used to it
I do recommend using subtitles also
thank you guy, since I begin watching videos my comprehension it improved considerably
any advice or resources for learning Chinese (中文) ? I need to cram a lot of vocab self studying, currently I'm between B1 and B2 level, more to B1, but most of my vocab has been accumulated through reading over the time, I need to cram a lot by next week to be switched to B2 group because i'm ahead of B1 by a lot. But AI doesn't always recognize the characters when i upload the photo of a character I don't know and has a limit for uploads so... any advice or other resources to get better would be helpful, thanks.
also I use easy Chinese reader 2 for context
the first app to download for learning chinese is always pleco 😄
pleco is a chinese dictionary
if you don't know a character, write it by hand into pleco
i've used it for ten years by now and it has the best character detection i've ever found out of any other app
any recommendations for learning cantonese as someone who knows mandarin and english?
i don't know how to approach it from mandarin angle, you are better off to look for chinese communities for learning cantonese
from western angle, the general recommendation is similar to mandarin, but instead learn w/ jyutping instead of pinyin
update on this no one asked about lol, i got into B2 yippie
what was the process from the start to B2 please
yes, books are good. I learned english by reading the magic tree house series. I would read it out loud to someone who could correct my pronounciation, and I translated every word. If you don't know a word, look it up. It was very slow at first but after the 4th book I could read very fluently suddenly.
Congrats! Agree with @indigo blade , tell us your journey!
thanks guys! so first thing you should get a textbook to study from, I personally don't like HSK standard course textbooks because I feel like they prepare you strictly for the HSK but there's not much valuable content besides that, so what I used instead is practical chinese reader 1 and 2 for now and planning to keep going. Firstly just learn vocab and use pinyin because if you try to learn characters from the get go you'll just end up frustrated and likely give up. Don't focus on writing at all at first, focus on building vocab mostly and sentence structure, once you build enough vocab you can start listening to comprehensible input on youtube, I also downloaded little red notebook (小红书) which is basically like chinese pinterest/instagram, on there you can find a lot of resources and ask questions, people are very willing to help. also read a lot of texts online on sites like HSK readings, Mandarin bean... they're graded and simple for beginner and building up to advanced. there you can feel the structure of a sentence and more vocab, i usually put the new words into anki flashcards and memorized them that way over time.
i have no idea what the western method of learning mandarin is ngl, is it more focused on learning pinyin?
for the first level or two, yes
pinyin is literally romanization for westerners to approximate chinese sounds, so it's the fastest method to learn for them
the same logic reasonably applies to jyutping, except that instead of tone marks you'd have to learn numbers (and that a sound that reasonably sounds like y is represented by j for some reason)
personally yale is a better romanization system to me but nobody uses it
yeah that makes sense i mean we use pinyin to type in chinese on the keyboard too so it’s important to learn at some point anyway
honestly j for y makes sense if you think about almost every other western language other than english
it’s interesting to think about how second language learners learn one of my native languages as someone who never had to “learn” it per se, since i’m also a native english speaker i kinda wondered if it’s easier to learn cantonese with mandarin or english instruction
it's surely easier to learn it through mandarin
the fact that the languages share somewhat similar grammar and some common words are also a huge part of what makes it easier
there should be significantly more resources for learning cantonese for mandarin speakers because of similarities and because the actual application is more relevant for mandarin speakers who need to learn cantonese to work in hong kong(where the chinese government seems to be trying to push cantonese out of the school system and force children to learn mandarin anyways) or guangdong(where most people seem to know mandarin to begin with anyways)
on the flip side, there are next to no cantonese learning resources for english speakers because it's not a popular or particularly useful language to learn for a majority of english speakers
yup this makes a lot of sense! i too am planning to learn cantonese for work reasons so i’m def gonna try to learn functional language
Hello everyone hope yall having a good day does anyone know sum good a2-b1 frensh books or maybe even short stories or novels that can help me imrprove my language
I have a great problem with my english. I write with a high register, and this is maded in my own language, but it is not a large problem in this: just its seems with a fancy language. How solve this?
For example, this own sentence. The Chat Gpt make a similar for me, with a most common to use in english.
I struggle with English because I naturally write in a high register. This works in my native language, but in English it sounds unnatural rather than elegant. How can I fix this?
looking for someone to speak spanish to, lmk
does anyone here speak swedish and could recommend media that would be suitible for a beginner (movies, tv shows, books) or some swedish youtubers/podcasters that are not centered on language learning and maybe are more lifestyle/comedy/sth like that???
ive been learning swedish for 4y now but never very intensely(mostly through duolingo, easy swedish podcasts and young royals lol), so i would say that im around the A2 level
hello, everyone. I'm currently attempting to learn russian. Does anyone have any nice yt channel/movie recommendations? I'm trying to get used to the pronunciation and the overall sound of the language, because i'm still very much a beginner.
It very much depends on what you like to watch.
I usually watch booktubers, commentaries and vlogs (like the book leo or r.c.waldun), as for movies - fantasy, comedy or science fiction - either is fine.
I watch Waldun too :). The one channel that I personally find interesting is "Александр Панчин". It is about science and biology, he also debunks myths about science and explains things in an interesting way. He probably could be somehow compared with the "Professor Dave Explains", but in Russian, since he is also a science communicator. If you look for movies, than Soviet movies are best, in my opinion. You could easy find some of them in internet, like "Иван Васильевич меняет профессию" (Ivan Vasilievich Changes His Profession), "Бриллиантовая рука" (The Diamond Arm), as well as "Цвет граната" (The Color of Pomegranates). I cannot really name some of the modern movies, because I don't really like to watch movies in general, so that are some I watched a couple of years ago. You sure could find more examples in internet. But the best things so far, that helped me to learn languages was reading and analyzing the literature I read, as well as studying something in a language I want to learn. I hope you find the films I mentioned interesting and enjoyable, and I wish you well in your journey of learning Russian.
Thank you for the recommendations! I find "The Diamond Arm" very funny and I've also watched some of Dave's videos in the past, so I'll make sure to check out the other movies as well as Панчин's content 🙂
I was asked to also post this here, as it might help some math nerds study german :)
hey!
if any german speakers here need help with Math, here is a Link to a site from a Fachhochschule (practical leaning University) in Vienna, Austria, which helps me quite a lot.
https://mathe.technikum-wien.at/
You can watch all kinds of explanations to fresh up things before the first semester (Basiswissen) and study up on things that you may or may not encounter during your studies (Studienwissen).
Here is where you find their videos, sorted by topic. https://mathe.technikum-wien.at/lernvideos Sadly it is a bit confusing in which sequence you should watch them, but mostly from top to bottom and left to right should serve you well.
There are also many, rather difficult test questions https://mathe.technikum-wien.at/index.php. You can sign up and track your progress, you can build your own tests and on top of that there are some scripts on there as well https://mathe.technikum-wien.at/gesamtskriptum.php. I have not checked them out yet, but they should be useful.
Sorry for my bad english, I hope this helps somebody as much as me!

Hey, i would like to know how do you guys learn languages effectively, like i recently started german too and i feel like i dont know anything. What resources do you use ? How do you practice ? It would be great If you can give me any tips or advice. Internet is filled with saame slop, i am super confused after watching alll the videos.
heyy, i might not be very helpful since most my german is learnt through group lessons, but i would really recommend watching the show Nicos Weg! It's a show made for german learners and the first episode is most basic stuff u need and as u watch next ones the language starts to slowly get more complex. You can write down the words or phrases u dont understand to memorize them and on top of that u get a really cool show to watch.
here is a link if u wanna check it out:
Thanks, I'll check it out

Hello. I'm having some difficulties studying IELTS, as I haven't learnt it for around 2 years and I want to get back on track because I need it in my resume for a better job. I just want to ask:
- Is it more difficult now? And in which skills did it change a lot mostly?
- I read the marking criteria sheet, but still, do anyone feel the big diffences between 6.5 and 7? Because I stuck at 6.5 for years and couldn't figure out how to get better
Thanks you guys
Also, I'm really bad at learning French. Any tips or website to improve French grammar? I'm still in my A1 phase

Hello, guys! I'm looking for a study partner.
My current English level isn't that high, but I really want to improve it. By the way, I won't use ChatGPT to correct this message, even though it's embarrassing to send the raw version here...
How I see our interaction and this journey in general? We could make a study plan with the strict deadlines and other features which will help us to push each other. This plan should be complex and include grammar, vocabulary, writing and later on - speaking.
I recently purchased all Murphy's book and I'll probably start from there (with the blue one).
Also we could share some reports on a daily basis. Right now I already have a 50 days streak writing in my diary..
I have one of the European languages as my native language, so it'll probably be easier if we both have a European descent, no matter which one.
And even if you are not looking for a study partner, feel free to add me on Duolingo! My tag is Lmkr20 (and the name is Nick). Right now I have no one to complete the challenges with...
