the routine part is crucial
Those are all the general tips I have, but my own sleep schedule is ass😔
ANYWAY
IS IT WORTH SACRIFICING SLEEP TO STUDY?
Nope
No.
looking to buy a 3x3 rubiks cube, any recommendation? I have been using an old and cheap one with no brand for a while. Have gotten sub 25 back in my days
and looking to get back into in. My current one is is spring loaded with no grip whatsoever, just a standard one. I looked around and have my eyes on Tornado v3 premium (premium cause just want the best for my main 3x3, and the grip is better than the flagship version i assume). But what im really looking for is a silent cube, magnet is new to me so i wanna try that and the adjustment system seems super convenient. Thats all. Any recommendation? maybe i should go with the flagship version? also i have hyperhydrosis so my hands are super sweaty when cubing
how to make own channel
To grow one? I love this convo
What kind of video do u think ur channel gonna be about? And if u have experience editing a video
how do yall stay productive in the evenings?
I personally split my time to focus on vastely different things throughout the day and plan variety in the week.
in my notes there's a "list of things I deem most important" and it's sorted by priority
so usually in the early morning I do what I want to prioritised the most, once I'm happy with my progress, I'll have a fairly long break, get lunch and give myself a choice of anything else in that priority list to do after.
then later in the day I optionally have a list of "lazy todos" for if when the first two blocks of productivity didn't go as planned / if the steam is still there.
tldr; giving yourself the option and variety while staying true to your goals is 👌
thats really good thanks for the advice man
How do you stop consuming unnececary stuff, I see cool stuff that I will never use and then I buy it, like I have no self control...
How to get Mika badge?
u have it on buddy
Just tell yourself you will buy it later, like tomorrow or when you have more time. Use that inner laziness!
Start paying rent to your parents, pay for the bills, food, stuff like that. You wont have money for what you want after that
lmao I already pay for food and stuff, but somehow when I have 50 dollars extra I just blow it still
You gon stop when you move out yo parents house
You'll see every dime matters
Same happened with me =)))) now I save the hell out of my money
yeah wish I could move out... Would really help my focus and I guess my spending habits..
You merican?
Nah
European badge I see
It s a lot easier to move out in Europe
In USA you need at least 6 figures per day to do such thing

Let the time solve it
Yeah I know, at this point I don't see it being plausable as an excuse considering I am not done with high school or whatever and my school is like a one hour commute which is "close enough"
but for collage I will try
student loans are going to kill
In my country, uni is free
yeah but living isn't ..
Yeah
thank u for the feedback it really is hard hopefully it gets better
appreciate the answer thank you
Hopefully it will get better for u
Just trust the process and don't be harsh on urself and Hopefully u will be getting A's
Good luck u got this
hello
wait how do you stop yourself from being overwhelmed by all the tasks in priority? when i make lists like these, i have so many things under priority that it feels too daunting to start
set a limit for yourself on how many priority things you can do in a day
if you have more than that due in the near future, you may have bitten off more than you can chew and should scale back on what you're doing a bit
☝️
Can anyone suggest an app blocker that adds a lot of friction?
Looking for help with blender
what kind of frictions? Cold Turkey is best i know for pc
help me a lot
I want one for mobile
you could try downloading serveral block apps
i have block and stay free both on my phone
Guys I have a caffeine problem and I am trying to cut coffee now but my head hurts when there’s less than threshold coffee. Do you guys have any suggestions for me? I have stopped consuming energy drinks and also I’ve tried to replace coffee with green tea but it’s not that effective.
maybe you can try gradually decreasing your caffeine intake, it may take you a while and also trouble you in the start but it'll surely help you get rid of your caffeine problem
hey listen guys i need your help
i am 1st semester freshmen, i have exam on mid of march, so any valuable suggestions would be appreciated
i think all you need is genuinely active recall and application
if you can go through past papers
understand the content they ask you
what theyre likely to ask you etc
prioritise things that you struggle at most or that come up most frequently in papers
go through an older exam first to evaluate your knowledge (without any prep) then pin point your weak points and go from there
those are symptoms of caffeine addiction, caffeine addiction can be harmful, try finding your baseline and reducing by 10–25% every 3–4 days
if you have free healthcare maybe you want to go ask a doctor too.
Ya you just gotta slowly stop taking it. Doesn't take that long. I say this as someone who would drink like 6-8 cups a day, then stopped drinking caffeine for like 8 months
Although Im back to drinking it now 🤷♂️ . That effect went away for me after about 1-2 weeks.
@gleaming hollow @tribal grail @cedar tinsel Thanks guys
6-8 cups ?
i mean why bro?
who hurt you man?
Its like 2 shots in the first drink at starbucks, study for 4 hours so get another 2 shot refill. Go back later, get another 2 shots.. then maybe refill or not after 3 hours.
@true portal just sneaks up on you after 8 hour of study
1 cup before 4 hour sesh and 2 for 8. done for the day
damn
yeah thats obvious
hey i need help with concentrating while studying... i lose focus very fast
and i dont know what to do
please helpp
what to do u lose ur focus to ?
What’s your regular consumption
like ill be studying and randomly ill start thinking about water or the universe and i start to daydream
idk it will seem simple
but u have to not do that
u wont be stopping in one time
since u got used to do this
u will have to get rid of it by trying to get ur focus again and again
until u can control ur focus on something
and u got this , just be sure that u will do it cuz u got a will and u know u can do the right thing
a brain wandering is something normal but u got make it focus on the thing u wanna do
but ill tried everything like i study with a timer and for a short period of time so maybe i would concentrate but then i daydream unknowingly and like i tried a lot
but then by the end of the day i would finish studying the protions but like yk
its like i wasted an entire day on that single subject
ik
but u keep trying and know what wasted ur time for like an hour and keep in ur mind that there will be no other hour wasted like this again in the same day
u have to be willing to keep going even tho u r not perfectly studying
but u wont be studying perfectly or getting full focus without being distracted
so keep going
know ur mistakes gradually and fix em
and keep moving
ur wlcm !
tc & gl with ur studies
Anyone who wants to VC? Doesnt feel myself okay so maybe we can talk random things
i used to drink 6 cups of coffee literally became addicted at such a level ong i could drink the most solid black coffee and fall asleep
honestly replace it w some other juice like joe or smth with like 2 cup of coffee a day
I would like to contact admin directly, how to do it? I cannot send a DM.
have u tried opening a ticket?
Make sure you're adhering to guidelines about it carefully
you don't want to end up getting a warning lol
Has anyone gotten over fear of failure that made them procrastinate?
I really want to do well, but i just study harder instead of smarter because its more comfortable.
idk why im hesitating to study, even with an exam coming up day after tomorrow
dont think too much, just take that step and sit ur self down with an open book
I relate to this so hard. I always end up on tiktok, cleaning or just scrolling the time away before an exam
wttff I doo
REAL LOL
except for me i just feel the impending doom and everything seems hopeless
all you gotta do is chuck the phone and at least skim thorugh the study material
or start with a video to get you into the groove of things
get ur body and mind ready first before you actually lock in
I will tell you success or failure is something outside of your control. What you have control over is your pre-test study and how hard you try during your exam. Whether you succeed or fail, judge how you did based on how well you prepared and how much effort you gave.
Has anyone actually managed to recreate James' org roam setup because I've been trying for like a week and I just can't get it working
i've got this thing where my brain gets so overstimulated thinking about the exams that i can't study
any tips on how to deal with this plis
sounds ez
but u have to get ur self focused on studying rather than focusing on the exam
cuz u dont know anything abt the exam , u cant do anything abt it , u dont know how hard it's gonna be
the only thing u gotta do is just stay focused on what's in ur hand and that's studying and be prepeared
doing ur best is the only thing that will calm ur mind
knowing that u r doing ur best and how ever the exam will be like , u did ur best and indeed the hard work will pay off u have to trust the process
lexapro
i know that sounds like a joke but seriously
if anxiety is impacting your life
see if u can get medicated
Thank you!!@
hi guys, is anyone here a child pyschologist? i want to ask some question related to dyslexia in children
hi guys, i really dont have enough time to write my essay. does anyone know a good AI humanizer?
Hi, guys i want to ask what i should to do when i feel lazy and i can't be discpline with studying what should i do when i feel that?

I struggle a lot with my memory when I try to recall any piece of information. What do you think is the best way to practice remembering?
depends on the subject
in general, whenever i learn a new fact, or a mathematical formula after some time i cant seems recall it properly
i cant hlep w the fact onr but w the math formula the best way is to practice with it
hmm
hii, i'm new here
Anki!
hey there had a question, I'm preparing for some entrance exams and this is the syllabus for one of the exams, I'm kind of weak in studying related topics but https://www.jasso.go.jp/en/ryugaku/eju/examinee/syllabus/__icsFiles/afieldfile/2025/12/02/2026_syllabus_phy_e.pdf
this is the syllabus
and here is a question paper from 2018
will it be possible for me to search the topics from the syllabus up and study from google or an LLM instead of relying on classes? Forgot to mention but I am kind of familiar with these portions, I took a drop year to study for an exam and gave up midway, and have been doing other random stuff, Please help :)
my question will seems to be a little be weird, but is it really worh it to learn for 6 hours + when science says that you can focuus only for 4 hours ? ( im asking, maybe im wrong idk ) i really want to know because im studying between 4-5 hours since the 1 july and i want to study more, but its maybe not worht it ...
(sorry if i make any mistake im not english)
Only being able to focus for 4 hours? 🤨 . Id need to see the studies.. and proof that training couldnt lead to greater focus.
dm if you want to do my survey its for data project please
to be honest, i've hear thos informations so many times that its became truth to me, let me fact check really quick
LMAOO
lemme try increase my hours of work
to be honest you just have to work, like its really cliché but if you think that way " how can i be consistent " its already the wrong mindset, you have to WANT to work, find pleasure in what you are doing, and in my case i just cant not work
i work and a find pleasure in it
so i work
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfxHVmNSlQ4 i did fing this video talking about those issues
In this video, I will teach you the easiest way to study for over 12 hours a day while staying focused

btw should i ping the role or individual mods that are online?
oh wait thats not even a bot
Hey thanks! I will check it out when I get some free time. From my experience.. taking a 5 min break every 30-60 mins is enough to keep going with high focus in general.
all pleasure is mine ! i do take some rest, but when i feel that my focus is decreasing
just the role
thanks
hey, for other people starting on PhD level research
I'm writing an annotated bibliography, then going for a literature review.
But as I look more into it, I realize that there are times I see things from opposite sides of the spectrum
It feels as though there must be so many different layers in between.
Does this kind of thing become standard? like, "oh of course there's like 50 layers to this single concept depending on who's talking" or is it always this insane feeling of "oh god there must be 50 layers of this single concept depending on who I talk to"
hey if anyone as a computer engineering major has published a research paper conference level (deep learning) during undergrad, how do I get started?
hey ,need consistent , disciplined study buddy and a good friend
about me - im wisdom 18y old preparing for pre med exam (NEET) Dm me if you want to study together we will be a good frnds, and again let me remind only focuse , someone who really wants to do something which they dreamed of
3.7k today so far. just getting started.
Hello! I'm looking for a consistent accountability buddy. My timezone is GMT+8. I am 23 years old in grad school. I am hoping to connect to those who are in the same age range. We can do 1hr focus session then break, I'm open to discussions if you're up for longer focus or break time. Thank you!
same time zone
What’s ur favorite reward that really refresh your mind and u go back to study after big exam?
i would like to be but i dont use dc often
watching movies or playing video games
but i have my english exam tmr
Good luck!!! So u can enjoy the time after!
not able to focus im really scared.
my mind is running thoughts like what if the paper might be tough and all those thoughts are surrounding my head
Take a deep breath, or a little walk, to relax a bit. Try to ask yourself what are the things could do given the time to improve the grades. And turn that tuning thoughts into focusing on what I can do so it not wasted. U got this
thank u
Does any body use mindmaps/justin sung at all?
Yes I have tried and I do recommend his latest video where he is explaining it in a workshop because that tutorial is the best possible explanation he’s ever done. Tbh this whole mind maps concept only gets better with consistent efforts to build more connection between the topics so just keep on trying.
You can use obsidian to make effective mind maps.
Do you just get better with practice? I feel like my efforts end up in really linear mindmaps. What are your steps when making them?
Thank you! Im using excalidraw rn
I don’t think I am that good at it myself but like taking keywords out of a specific topic and mapping them together and finding connections is a good way to make it more active learning, I think you just have to try and connect data instead of learning isolated data.
im suffering from terrible anxiety, didnt have this problem before until my ex heavily damaged me and left. everything else is fine now except for my anxiety. its so bad that it comes randomly thoughout the day often and would stay for hours. i cant sleep at night, i cant focus on my education, i cant even eat properly. everyday of my life is survival mode. im tired.
You need something new in life..
I had a bit of anxiety for awhile. But what is causing you anxiety? For me, I just started having more conversations while I was out with random people slowly over time. Eventually it went away, but I used to feel anxiety in crowded places.
to be honest I find that a sport you enjoy can cure any type of anxiety
try something new, kickboxing, bjj, or running
just look for something that turns your brain off
for me I used to not be able to just exist in a place where there's more than like 10 people. I did kickboxing for two years now it's almost like I can switch to being an extrovert when I want to (I mean I still face mild fear before interactions but nothing compared to before. I would literally get sick every time I went to a wedding with my parents
I guess part of that is the boost of confidence combat sports give
but just anything that you enjoy doing and that turns your overthinking off will make drastic changes IMO
Hello everyone! Is there anyone willing to answer my undergrad research questionaire? I really need to get it done by this month but my respondents aren't answering the gforms I gave them. It would really help me if anyone from this server will answer them. Thank you so much! Let me know if you are interested! Here's the title of my study "A QUANTITATIVE STUDY ON LOGICAL REASONING AS A PREDICTOR OF ALGEBRAIC PROFICIENCY" (My goal is to get 202 responses)
I'd be glad to respond to it. My DMs are open
thank you!!
👍 I'll let you know when I'm finished with it
is there someone who can guide me on how to do leetcode questions and coding stuff?dssa and all
Any mechanical eng students in the server?
Someone out there in media communication? Some tips might help a ton🫶🏻
am studying mechatronics engineering
I needed help with mos, you don't study that I think?
what does that stand for ?
Mechanics of solids
Did study it
didnt fully understand it tbh , but knew about the mechanical considerations that was good for me tbh as for designing afterwards
I see. It's okay tho. Thanks man
yooo, i got a question. In terms of school(work), level of abstraction of the course work etc, how tf do y'all deal with shit that is like genuilly non-touchable with the real world? like not even able to make it concrete? im struggling mad hard rn and dont know what to do...
second year philosophy rn and the classes are quite mental. abstract af and also the struggle that i cant really talk about it with people around me, so its hard to get "in touch with reality" respective to the courses im taking
any help is welcome, appreciate it in advance
What do you do when looking at it? Its frustrating but stuff like this you need to stop thinking so straightforward. Its kind of hard to explain. What topics are you doing, and what do you usually do when you hear it for the first time?
Couple days ago I joined a server via tag of someone (boy) here I forgot his username, apparently it needed some sort of verification that I didn't know of .... So I got removed, it's an Islamic server. Talking bout it here hoping I can find the person/server 🥹
im literally in the same boat
this tag??
Unfortunately not, the one I'm looking for has a forum, I remember one specifically about how our free will can be delusional, also maybe the word revert in the server bio ?
I can't remember clearly.
i wish i could turn back time at this point
Id say try to figure out the key mechanisms underlying the abstract thing, and how they work. Then you have a way to evaluate the abstract claims. For philosophy that is probably going to be 2 things, logic and the definitions of the terms being used. You need to become very familiar with those 2 things.
Is there any jeweler here?
hey guys, trying to improve my deep work ability here
i really find hard to focus during long amount of time and tends to seek distractions when i want to take a break
today i worked for 2 hours straight with a 10 min break between each hour,
at the end of the second hour, i really struggled to focus
i was wondering if it's going to improve by itself (by creating the habit of working for long periods of time)
i was wondering how do you take breaks too because i struggle to really rest between work session
I personally just stand up and wonder around the house or simply pick up a book read for the duration of the break and then pick up my work from where I left off, you literary have to do something that has completely nothing to do with what you were just studying but it cannot be a distraction, you can even sit there and think of random shit
It could work, at least it did for me and stopping to use the easy distraction of my phone and computer
It turns out that this is indeed the server that I was looking for but the mods hid the forum I wanted to check that's why I wasn't sure about it.
Thank you so much.
Lowkey my thoughts, im just gonna blast past papers at this point ngl. That cooked.
I think of it every day.
But the only thing that makes me get back to studying is the regret I might have after writing the exam, that I wish I could have just studied a little more!
man I got my igcses in a IittIe over a month and have to improve a Iot in subects but I don't feeI the pressure Iiqe of course I feeI bad over the ground I have to cover but I don't study as much as I shouId I reaIIy don't qnow what to do. Iocqed my phone out and have aImost everything bIocqed on my Iaptop yet I spend most of the time in front of the tv or ust wandering
Can relate.. perhaps study timer or an accountable partner will be of help? Like someone sharing same goals as u and they hv got exam on same time.. u guys cN share each other's progress and all. (I think studying with friends helped me)..
Better option will be offline library, there u are forced to study.
offIine Iibrary?
what about studying with friends Iiqe ust sharing what you are gonna do for the day a nd checqing after a set amount of time
I don't qnow sometimes I feeI ashamed or don't wanna boast my time (if theres any in the first pIace)
Like going to library dude.. well sure try that with ur friend but going like this for days will take efforts from both sides.. i can feel u like not studying at all for days happens alot with so many ppl.. calm down and try again.
oh Imao nah havent got a Iibrary cIose to me
yeah might try that thanqs for the advise
ust curious howd you get out of it
No one ever gets out.. i fail then i try studying again.. and tbh library helped me alot.. and i used yeolpumta timer app.. so that helped in consistency
anyone got any idea why could this be happening ?
how do u bounce back from a bad day?
It is currently 37 degrees Celsius chat helpp
be forgiving with yourself and start small, if you get in the mood after 10mins or so then just continue
Hi,guys I want to know how I can study for 10 hours in a day I just study for 2or3 hours and can’t do more whyyy
You just gotta experiment and try to improve it. There are a lot of things you can test out.
does anyone know any survey tool that is similar to Qualtrics and doesn't limit how many questions i have? thanks
studying 5-6 hours might be better than studying 10 hours
quality>quantity
and spend those remaining hours on ur hobbies
to diversify urself
I am cooked. Every day I wake up, I am so behind in studies with everyone. I cant focus I waste time lying in my room Idk life feel shit.
What do I even do. I have phone in my hand. I cant focus. If I dont understand anything I start sweating "oh Idk anything, I am so bad" instead of learning the topic. I cant live like this :( I am late but I dont wanna be more late
i figured it's about liking the process, finding a good reason to wake up every morning and get to work
if you're always alone and you are not passionnate about what you're doing, you wont be able to keep up with whatever you're studying
find your crew to uplift you, even if you still dont really like what you're studying, at least you'll have people around
Start de-stimulating yourself. Don't pick up and open any application of your phone in the morning. Go take a brisk walk on terrace or neighborhood.
Keep phone away and install a block till you are done studying. I'd prefer if you don't listen to music or anything while studying. Just a simple timer will do.
Don't start watching any sort of videos on phone while on small break like in between study.
Make some coffee instead and walk around your place.
If you get thoughts especially bad on your mind just let them pass away. Just know your efforts matter and that's what keeps us going in life. Not always what we get from it.
You can do it. Since you want to improve you can do it.
Step 1: Believe in yourself. You can improve your situation, you just need to test some things out and find the right method.
Step 2: Start testing things. See what works and what doesn't, don't get overwhelmed by your emotions. Look back at what happened and identify what went well and if things don't go well identify what was the real, fundamental reason things didn't work out. If you could redo the day, what could you do to ensure you succeeded? Treat it like an experiment, try to be objective and not overly negative.
I would suggest meditation for if your thoughts become unwanted and intrusive
Hi! Im really trying to increase my speed finishing questions in general but i find that I genuinely take hours to write. I think it could be because it feels a little weird keeping a looser grip on my pen and im not used to writing fast or thinking fast. I have been practicing questions, but is there any way to get even faster at writing and thinking?
I just took like 3 hours on one fm paper 😭
also if anyone has any nice videos on using crazy amount of optimism to motivate you, i would really like to watch. I only revise off of toxic motivation to myself, and ive noticed it makes me work less hard.
I think to be fair, i could start setting timers on my work to give me some sense of urgency
There you go. Improving comes when you practice with the intention to improve and training towards it.
are you sure u don't have a vpn on or even built in the browser ?
turned out that when i press exit from cloud fare it would still be active lol
I’m diagnosed with bipolar I. and currently fighting in a mixed state. As a therapeutic practice, I tried writing my thoughts down. Here’s what I wrote:
I may have a slightly distorted but intrusive reasoning as to why it wouldn't be so incomprehensible if I took my own life. But at the other, unimaginably distant end, I keep seeing these shimmering lights. Very small, delicate, like droplets of crystal clear matter. They keep appearing, or so I imagine, when I look in that direction and my pupils dilate as if they had landed on something of beauty worth following - something that attracts my blind eyes as truth attracts my daring mind. Is it just curiosity writing an endless list of motives and what ifs? My vision is blurred and it may stay that way, but I keep following what I can't conceive by sight and I may never find any delusion-proof proof on this intriguing matter, but I had a random thought today: that if I am here and there still is that miraculous shimmer to be seen, the only proof I need is found in the rising of the sun. What can I see in the darkness? What does it tell me? Not beauty, not truth. Darkness is an insatiable consumer. A master of deception and an elusive thief. Beauty is held captive by it and so are you if you smother the flame of faith within you, convinced there's nothing - no oxygen to keep you alive and seen. Lord, I don't know if I'm hallucinating when I claim to see crystal clear fractions of both - you and me - in each of those tiny little droplets that are impossible to see through countless pages of a smoky memoir written by a pilgrim during the polar night on her way towards the inevitable. Light.
What do you get from it? Please if you want and can - talk to me… say something that could possibly lift me & my life up.
Hey guys, do any of you so happens to have a chegg account? I really need to access this material for my modelling class
Hello, I think my friend has been banned by mistake, who should I contact to have him unbanned?
New accaount and enter again xd
creating a ticket will make you able to discuss it with the mods and actually see if it"s a mistake
This is perfect for a journal entry, you can read it later and eventually virtually consult your past, present and future self.
No one knows you better than yourself and when it comes to professional help, well that's a chat for another time lmao
I found seeking therapy is highly situational and dependant on several factors, keeping notes for myself was the only way I could give those words some weight, hopefully you can find something that works for you.
ong everyone is way too rude

Hi. I'm currently an English language major student and I'm studying on Phonology for my exam. Any tips on remember the consonant chart?
What is the what'ing about?
heyyy, I remember having trouble studying that chart, it isn't for the weak 😭 I have a google drive with all my phonetics notes that I can share with u if you want 😉 Honestly for the consonant chart, the only thing that'll help you out is to understand the layout (so manner/place) and to study them based on the manner of articulation THEN the place of articulation, if that makes sense 😭
Hey thanks for responding : D i was struggling for that shit really bad. Now I'm kinda in the survival mode for Phonology and word formation lmao, so if you can share the file, I'll be really greatful
hhh no worries that course was a nigthmare but you've got this ;))) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dN0hy8E0Y7vnkN5n5GTBK3i746rdeDZj?usp=sharing
Access Google Drive with a Google account (for personal use) or Google Workspace account (for business use).
Imma cry rn ToT
Btw you haven't open the file's access
anytimeeeee 🙂↕️

hey, i've been workin for 10 months, on mathematics and physics alone, i started with an average of 5 hours/day . Sometimes for 2-3 weeks i was doing 6-7 hours a day.
But i've never tried to push further, because, when i was telling my friend that i should do so, they were still telling me that it was "useless" or that " your brain cant handle that much of work" etc ...
However, this past week, i've been workin pretty much all day, on an average of 9-10 hours . The last 2 hours i sometimes feel very sleepy, and have headache but then i go to sleep and all disapear.
My question is, could i do more hours of work ? Is there a real barrier of the maximum amouunt that you can "focus" in other word "work" . Becauuse i really enjoy working, but sometimes im scared to do " too much" because of what my friend can say and what i can read on the internet.
But my main goal, for the moment is to keep this "momentum"
(however, my friend and internet may not enjoy working, and are scared to do so ? )
sorry for my bad english, im french
I would say you have to be careful when putting this many hours in. You have to make sure you are getting other things important to your life and health taken care of as well, since they too are very important, even they can help you study more 😅.
But yes I think its doable, you just need to do things like have good posture, give your eyes breaks, etc, etc
thanks man, i do my best to continue to have healthy life
Hi
HIiii
Hey man (French guy here too), as a mental health professional, many of my clients are in your position.
To put it simply, you can see yourself as a high-level athlete, but for work. So is there a risk of doing too much or burning out? Yes. But the only person who can truly feel whether it’s too much is you.
Many high performers actually manage to maintain a healthy mind and body while working a lot. It usually requires a good level of introspection and an understanding of how your own body/mind works.
At the end of the day, the real question is: how do you feel? And what actually works for you when it comes to resting properly?
If you can get support from a professional, that’s great. If not, experimenting and tracking what works for you over time can be really helpful.
Hope it helps and "bon courage ! 🇫🇷 "

Guys, does anyone know of any Discord servers related to coding?
you can search through the Discover option
Hey guys, my exams are coming up. I have only a little days to prepare, but my days pass so fast and I can barely achieve anything or study anything and I have nothing to do except for studying. But I feel like I can't concentrate and I can't get much of study done during the day. I have always been studying well. I don't know what is happening, do you have any tips or ideas that can help me? Or if you have been there, how did you manage this?
Where to start ml like the source
Rn I have completed python basics
Implementation of data structures, search algorithm
Pandas
Currently learning numpy
Help would be appreciated 👍🙏
Yes I have been there and Right now I'm still there . But my days are better than before . You just have to endure the pain of boredom/Annoyance, try not to feel guilty because if you feel guilty now like everyone is ahead of you and you are very far behind then This thoughts will slow you down, just focus on yourself, Also find out what works out for you like for me I cannot focus more than 40 minutes so I study in 40-15 mins sessions. I try to study 40 minutes without distractions and for the next 15 minutes , I do nothing, by nothing I literally mean nothing! No mindless scrolling or things that steal my attention , just scan through what you have already studied or stare at the wall maybe sky But also don't start overthinking or get lost in your mind that it will feel hard to come back when 15 minutes is over. I just try to notice what works for me and what doesn't work for me , If something isn't working for me or making me distracted then I try to stay away from it or make me stay away from . Sheer willpower will do nothing. You have to be mindful of your surroundings too , If there r stuffs that distract you when you try to study then you have to remove that stuff from the place you usually study in
Oh man I can literally go on and on about this lol
Could be a lot of things. Id try exercise, hydrating a lot with water, closing your eyes and resting in bed, and meditating for a few minutes. See if any of these things can help you recover your focus.

just wondering since my study time is very inconsistent, is it good or normal to start out studying for 6 hours or 3 hours per day? studying in bachelor's of computer science and trying to catch up HARD
I'd say it's better to make a plan that you'll study around 3-6 hours not less than three not more than six, and just start use the pomodoro that works best for you 25-5 or 60-15 , it's up to how long you can truly concentrate, and just start then see if you feel like you can do more after 3 hours then go ahead and if you feel like you can't then stop and everyday make a challenge to study more 15 minutes than the day before until you can achieve the number of hours you can do.
hoping to stay on track when it comes pomodoro, might have to find ways to further prevent distractions as much as i can as that's the main problem, but the 15 minute rule is pretty helpful as well, i'll give this a try tommorow
@small pewter W moonlight fr
I still have screenshots of some of the advice you gave me 2 years ago
I know this is random heh.
Hope you're doing well tho.
I used to think I'm a morning person
but seriously ive discovered weird shit
My focus goes crazy during early mornings (can be as early as possible), and my brain starts to fry by around 10 am
BUT
I am also unable to focus at late nightimes
wth 😭
Anyways how do I adjust my sleep cycle for maximum productivity?
Can I start to employ polyphasis sleep patterns?
Im probably not gonna switch to polyphasis untill my schedule truly demands it, however if it does, I plan to sleep 4 hours with perhaps 20 minute naps very often?
i'mma be honest it sounds like you're overcomplicating things. get some good sleep and don't work yourself too hard, enjoy your youth a bit
aightyh
When I was 14-16 I was sleeping like 4 hours a night during the week, due to tons of sports practice and videogames.. lol
Its also parlty why I had to mostly stop playing videogames and don't do sports seriously anymore
How tall are you if you dont mind me asking
6'4
hmmmm
I think this is normal to be honest, your body is probably gearing towards sleep
I am bad at sleeping well, but what has helped me some is lots of cardio on days when I want to sleep early. Also, having a sleep routine, like something you do every day before you go to bed, so when you do that thing your body starts to pre-prep for sleep. Lastly, just good sleep hygiene, limit blue light, limit noise, do things to get into a calm and comfortable state.
Sleeping for maximum productivity would be a sleep cycle that lets you be awake and have energy when you need it during the day I'd guess? For you that'd be early in the day where you are focused 'pre 10am time', but you can't do it so early you miss obligations you have at night.
I meant to say smh else
typo
I meant
I AM able to focus during late nights
and I AM able to focus during early mornings
so Im stuck
Ooh I see
Maybe just choose 1 and go hard into it.
I tend to think of early morning being more beneficial, but it really depends on what your schedule and obligations/preferences are.
I think hitting both is impossible though unless you have a night schedule, but that is not so great for psychological health since sunlight is known to improve mood. Trying to break sleep up into naps during midday also isn't as healthy
if anyone needs help with studying or feels stuck with their study system, feel free to message me
do i have to pay
im broke osrs
No you’re good, I usually charge for full plans but I can help you with whatever you need
I need help with convincing myself that I have to study because I have been struggling with gaining the motivation to study if anyone could help they can message me
yassssss
What happens if you don't study?
when I have to study for an exam and I also can't do it
I just close the door
shut down the phone
everything that gives me dopamine is cut
even food and sugar
only water and the thing you're going to study are permitted
and do that for a couple of hours
I know it's actually torturing your mind
very badly and it's so painful in the first couple of minutes
first hour is the hardest
but then you actually get used to it and yeah go flow mode
Guys where do we report someone?
How the hell do conversations happen in this server
hi, has anyone here struggled with being consistent and later ended up building a disciplined routine, it would be great if you can give some tips, I have been struggling a lot with consistency
The only thing I can say is discipline, I couldn't find any shortcut and I wasted alot of opportunities becuz of that and now I've realised I just need to stay disciplined so even if it's just 2 hours I try to study everyday
And I understand building discipline is hard but you just have to if you wanna get smth done
You can start small that's what I did, I think it's very helpful if your goal is 2 hr on the first day not 8 then ofc you can increase the goal later on
If I don't study I just waste that time doomscrolling so I'm tired of regretting not using my time and instead I wanna be productive
Yes that would work for me if I was mainly studying from books but I have to see a lot of lectures and instead of watching them I pretty much waste my time
If there's no obvious consequence (e.g. failing an exam) you have to look a bit deeper at what the implications are for you if you don't study now
Well if you mean like that yes I will fail my exams if I don't study which will lead to me not getting a good college and u can makeout the rest
Exactly my point. Now consider how you're going to feel when you realise you messed up the rest of your life because you didn't uninstall a social media app
please do then
Well I do understand that and I do have regrets but I never learn I lose that fear pretty quick and I have lost that ability to fear the consequences of not studying
There's no secret hack you just have to fight
hello guys, hope you are all doing well
i just want a little help if anyone can
I sometimes read various study & reports (40-50 pages) which is a tedious work and i usually give those pdf to AI and slowly tells it to summarise page by page, but it faces many problem and keep repeating the same content again and again
if any of you know any good AI tool which you guys use, kindly suggest me by replying to me or personal messgaing me.
Anyone got a good plan for strenght training in the gym ?
The benefits are immense. Should we go into them? You will understand more about the world. You actually have no idea how valuable this information is and how this info will influence your future decisions and comprehension of the world. They are unopened doors in your mind, you have to open them and see what lies inside to even know what you are missing.
The more you learn now the more you can understand in the future, and the more easily you will learn new things in the future, both related and unrelated to what you are learning.
Given a sound mind, the number one determinant of success and mastery is the time and effort you put into learning a subject. By studying you are gaining mastery and self-improvement in the most important way.
What are the downsides of not studying?
As some have pointed out, there will be future negative consequences. You will not have all the benefits listed above. Modern people's negative emotions have been thrown out of whack due to various dopamine addictions, so perhaps its not easy to truly fear future consequences.
An immediate consequence, you are not in control of yourself. Wanting to do something, yet not being able to do it due to emotions is really miserable. You can't live as yourself.. To escape this, you have to learn to control yourself. A first great step is studying as much as you truly want to and overcoming this. Anybody has the ability to do this, even if its a challenge.
Thank you
howdy
someone here have adhd and haved sucess to reduce mindless surf on internet? :)
Read a book and meditate
just wondering, studying for bachelor's of computer science, studying 4 units, having trouble catching up, is it required that i need to study 6 hours a day or that I have to be familiar enough to get used or adjusted to that long amount of time to study for?
Hi guys! How do you revise long hours without eventually feeling sick?
First you need to build up the mental muscles by gradually increasing your workload. After that, listen to your body and take short breaks, walks, deep breathing, etc when needed to recharge.
Okay! Thank you
Is there anyone here majoring in or working in marketing? I’m currently working on a proposal for a marketing competition hosted by a Korean private insurance company (Samsungfire). But I'm finding it quite challenging, and I would love to get some advices.
The core theme of the project is "Creating a culture of gifting insurance." If anyone is willing to share some insights or advice, I would be incredibly grateful. Please feel free to send me a DM! Thank you in advance for your help.
Can someone give me advice on note-taking? I need some criticism
You dont have to write long sentences while making notes. I mostly stick to key words because thats what evaluators look at! Flow charts also help immensely when youre trying explain cause effect relations and just relationships between items in general
good job though and goodluck
not related, but i just finished a phys module on coulombs law
for cs majors out there
whats a thing u advise me to learn before starting in uni (software engineer)
You should be giving us advices at this point lol
your notes should summarize what you learned in the way that you most like it
This is how I do it, its far from perfect but it works
Algorithms, some famous algorithms like binary search, quicksort etc, and its fun

if anyone’s been struggling with staying consistent or figuring out how to actually study properly. Feel free to message me.
People I’m actually going crazy rn I need to work on an intake assignment for a school I want to go to but it’s so overwhelming and life is so busy rn.
How do y’all cope with overwhelming assignments??
reward yourself for the effort you put in and change locations like go to café do only X Task then maybe go to the library to do Y Task or inside the library change locations and have breaks in between. Also, make sure you eat well. Basically you allocating time and a place for each task. Or ask for advice to your fellow classmates or friends for that specific assignment. Hopefully this helps.
Hello everyone!
I am retaking calc4 this semester.
I have been studying really hard, keeping up with the problems we've got to solve. And I have been feeling pretty confident until this past few days. my first test is next Wednesday and I suddenly feel not prepared, doubting on myself and stuff like that.
So how do you all manage to 'shut up' these voices? Because I know I have been working hard and I really think I can manage to pass with a good grade this time. I just got hit by these waves of doubt and they make me feel really nervous.
this is going to sound contraintuitive but here we go:
fail so hard you just laugh at yourself
i failed my first ever semester of uni so clearly, even after studying my but off then i made that come back with the idea in my mind 'meh, cant be any f*cking worse'
so sometimes we just got to fail like crazy
so if you fail, shi, so be it
if you pass; lets go
moral of the story; it dont matter bro
youll get there eventually, if not now, maybe in 2 years, but youll get there
failure is the most underrated concept in whole of academia
its the most dialectical concept i can perhaps think of
i need tips on recalibration and fatigue. Been on like 2 hours sleep per day (some days not even sleeping), pushing way past 12 hours, because last week was my mocks.
coffee helped me but now after the mocks im suffering alot
cant even concentrate 5 mins to study and look at a screen, my eyes and brain just go blank, been sleeping like 10 hours yesterday but I still cant study my brain is fried up, How can i get back on track fast? Because if i dont ill mess up my finals
The good news is i bumped up from a 58% to a 83% in maths from my last exam. for that ill thank James' streams.
Youre only going to gain so much from putting your body through extreme lengths. Take a step back and try to rest a little. It looks like your body is finally starting to give in to all that you have been putting it through
Im just trynna figure out how long till i can get back on track because
the pressure from the final exam is hitting in. Ill try resting today too.
Start studying 30 minutes a day and after that rest. You will get on track
for how much time have you been doing that may i ask?
thank you! and definitely, yeah
A week.
Yesterday i also rested, today i feel energized so i think im back on track, it really was sleep debt, so its not a big damage, We are back 🙏

I've always been a procastinator but like this time my procastination is so much worse and I have less than a month before my exams and tasks are due
what do I do I have been stalling all my tasks since December. All my days were spent mostly working but the rest is just me being worried, not really finishing a single task but starting each of them ;-;
Sit down and write down the most important tasks
Then start doing them first
Anyone here from UMinnesotta?
does anyone here can work in adobe after effects?
m seeking a mentor who can help me thers a lot to explain
When I sit down on my desk after a long day of school, I find myself not knowing what to do. Even though I clearly told myself I would "Study this, this, then that!" but I had not appeased this problem whatsoever, and I've been in the learning loop for a good bit.
I quite literally saw a study with me video I was watching with someone having like 5 notebooks on top of eachother, and sticky notes all neatly placed and used in some manner of speaking. I am currently in the dilemma of the learning loop and optimization for study.
When I sit to study, I look at the studying resource and make notes on it, then try to make flashcards on Anki and doing them horribly, which gets to choose to check the Anki help website, and try to read through the whole document.
I also tried using forest, which was somewhat helpful, but I mostly used my "study" time to check tutorials for Obsidian, and how to take digital notes.
I also don't know where to "solve" questions, and no one really gave me a good understanding on how to really study. Do I just make things up as I go? Or should I go formal and learn about studying techniques that come from Psychology? SQ3R, PQ4R, etc
And sorry for the wall of text
Keep things simple , I just Use obsidian, Concepts, And anki, Watch Justin sung, Zain asif, And jun yuh how to learn video, put what your gonna study on a todo list
Hey does anyone has any suggestions what keyboard I could buy for daily work and essay writing that i could add to my set up, and would last for long time + be aesthetic ?
guys i am 19, at 17 after school I didnt go to high school and instead started supporting my family financially cause my parents alone couldnt do it, for past 3 years i ran faceless Yt channels, but now in recent ban waves youtube shut down all my channels, recently had 3 failed apps, cause i didnt know how to promote them properly, rn i am feeling so lost, anxious and depressed cause i only have my last 1k remaining and a family to support idk even what to do anymore like i am so lost can anyone give me some piece of advice ?, Its like i cant go back to youtube cause they aint monetizing faceless channels anymore, and its like my most recent project is an neural acoustic model that fixes AI audio problem from all the AI videos, but idk how to promote it, can anyone give me some piece of advice on how i should move forward and the right mindset for me ?, would really appreciate some thoughts
hey, so i tried putting myself in your shoes… i might not get everything exactly right, but this is what i’d do if i were you:
first thing honestly, you gotta stabilize money somehow. like don’t overcomplicate it, just use what you already know and start freelancing. try fiverr/upwork, or even just dm small creators on insta/yt, or people in discord groups.
prioritize services over products, cause you need cash coming in fast. even 1–2 clients can take a lot of pressure off
then for your audio model, don’t sell it like some technical thing. just make it super simple and outcome-based, like “make your AI voice sound human in 1 click”
target people who actually need it like yt creators, reel creators, etc
and just post demos… like before/after clips, that’s literally the best way to show it works
put them on reels/shorts and add something like “dm ‘AUDIO’ if you want it”
don’t worry about ads rn, just focus on showing real proof
also yeah, consistency matters here. try posting like 2–3 short vids daily if you can , just quick transformations, tips, results
and keep it human, not robotic. talk like a normal person, think how your audience thinks
and mindset-wise… don’t think you’re the problem here
it’s more like the strategy didn’t work, that’s ityou’ve already done stuff at 17–19 that most people don’t even try, so don’t let this phase mess with your head too much
just don’t freeze thinking about “what if this fails”
just keep trying things, see what works, and double down on that
in short:
make some quick money first , then push your product properly by staying consistent AND don’t overthink it
you’re not done, you just need to pivot a bit rn
hope this helps
yeah thanks alot for your words
what you said is exactly the stuff i have started to do rn, started posting reels on IG about my product, and have also started looking out for freelancing work, while also trying to get an channel monetized to see if even that will work
that’s great to hear, hope everything starts clicking for you soon!
How to get lazer focus. And how to become a morning person from night owl
hi, guys i am actually when i get bored of studying i just stop study why should i force myself or what and how can i be discplined on that help!?
I'm really torn between choosing my Undergraduate course/subject
My main options are mainly
Biotechnology
Agriculture
Food technology
Microbiology
Bioinformatics
How should I approach in order to choose between these .
why these? (just curious)
i dont really have a grand reason its more like i have higher chances in getting into these and plus its interestng
i am mainly leaning towards the first three choices
try look at each course's specific modules to help make your decision
Sometimes breaking it down and seeing what exactly you'll learn will make it easier to see what you're learning towards and what excites you
if you've done that already try talk to people already doing those courses, or people currently doing them for more information too. Bonus point: try reach out to people teaching those courses; preferably by email, by grabbing contacts from uni websites.
Of course don't rely on only what they say because they are naturally biased towards what they are already doing.
Sometimes to make a decision like that you just need more information on all fronts, especially if you feel stuck.
Anyway, godspeed! Hope you're able to figure it out! Choosing your undergrad can be scary, but it's also exciting!
hello, i usually just lurk here but i've read the three books recommended in #useful-links yet i still can't seem to find the solution to this problem. On weekdays, i wake up early and study (somewhat deeply) for an hour and a copule minutes while avoiding distractions, and recently i've started to feel like i can achieve somewhat of a flow state during that first hour of the day, but as soon as i get home from school, i just have a huge headache and i don't feel like i can focus once i relax a little bit (by reading a book since the method of relaxation does matter), and i usually stay in this state all the way until tomorrow morning where i am able to achieve that single hour of deep studying. So what's the solution to fixing my afternoon mix of headache and massive lack of focus? do i need to implement a proper afternoon routine? do i need to change my method of relaxing? thank you in advance for any help because this problem just has me completely lost and unable to study for a longer time
I understand this completely, I'm the same sometimes. I don't really have like... "perfect" advice on this but I'll say what I tend to do.
I try look at what's exhausting me, and weigh in the importance of it over me studying. If it's not something that can be tweaked, then I try taking more time to decompress and relax in the afternoons, and then I try to move all my studying to before the day begins.
Cause personally, I don't see myself being able to study after a long day of doing a lot of stuff. From trial and error I've sorta learnt this about myself. Butttt it might be different for you! So take this with a grain of salt.
I hope someone else gives some helpful advice from another angle too, since idk what your mornings are like
yeah personally if i woke up early in the morning to get work done and still have to go to school afterwards, i don't expect to get anything done afterwards
consider that you woke up early to do things and then went out to do more work
if you woke up at like 0500 to do work, go to class at 0800, and come home at 1700, you've spent about 12 hours doing work and commuting
how can you realistically expect yourself to do more? i think most people would be tired and unfocused at that point too
I usually wake up at 0600, study until around 0710, then i have school until 1330, so i really shouldnt be unable to focus after school since its not a long amount of time
A single hour of deep studying isnt enough for my current academic level
Thanks for the advice, but it is very hard for me to delay my studying just because of a tiring day at school. Im afraid itd lead to me having to cram. Plus i feel like spending most of the afternoon without studying would just make me feel bad
Plus the studying at school isnt really tiring, i think its mostly the noise that leads to my headache which makes me unable to focus
first of all, congrats on getting that flow state in mate, thats wonderful to hear!
Concerning your headaches; have you tried to take a nap - when coming home from school - of about 15-30min? Afterwards drink a glass or two of water, a healthy snack like a banana or some nuts.
We sometimes forget to take care of our mind and body....so maybe try the recommended and hope you land where you want to!
Take care :))
Oh then that makes sense, I thought you were having school from like 7am to 4pm (thats what I had lol, I shouldn't have assumed)
thank you!, i tried doing non sleep deep rest but it didn't really help too much
that's a pretty long school day honestly
it was hell 😭 I'm glad I'm in uni now
quick update: i didn't really come home with a headache today, but it's still harder to focus in the afternoon than it is in the morning, maybe i just need to push through and get used to it
Put a cold towel on your head it might help
even i struggle with that😭 😭
i come back from school at 4:30
JUST WAITING FOR IT TO BE OVER
even in uni u gotta study a shit ton but atleast u have freedom
maybe taking a nap and then a shower for like 15 mins might help?
like a cold shower
not like ice cold but like cold enough for your tiredness to go away
also try to finish ur work in school
i mean, even when u have free time
or lunch
or like a teacher hasnt come so its like free time then try to finish ur work
so ur done with all ur hw!
that's near impossible if not impossible, especially since my school is (mostly) very loud and most of the time our teachers aren't late
this might sound stupid but i think my headache might've genuinely just been dehydration, yesterday i drank 2 litres and today i don't have a headache
plus i don't really have homework this year, all my studying is memorization and just answering questions either at home or school
ohhh, school is supposed to be loud
if its not loud then its not school
lolll
yeaa exactlyy! drinking water is more important than ppl think it is
yeah that makes sense lol
being dehydrated can cause more harm than we think!
during summer, maybe carrying something like gatorade might help if ur an athlete
Hey y'all. I have a study server named Study Cult. We have around 20 members. All of them lock in on a daily basis. We track our records on YPT and also have cam-on sessions. This server is not public, and we know each of them in it, so it's comfy enough for video sessions. There are all sorts of people keeping each other accountable. If y'all are interested, DM me, and I'll give you the server link (it's through an application you have to fill before we can let you in).
Hi guys, I'm new here, where can i see jimmy's stream?

hello, i'm trying to (almost completely besides the usual tutorial or video i'm actually interested in learning from) quit youtube, and i've completely disabled the algorithm by disabling search history and logging out, and that has somewhat cut down on my usage, but lately i've been finding myself just rewatching the same bunch of videos like a weirdo for absolutely no reason, should i just completely block youtube and just embrace boredom and become a different type of weirdo that instead just does nothing besides reading books and studying? (i don't really have any other activities to do, i love walking but there are a bunch of stray dogs where i live) and just so you know i'm doing this because besides the fact that youtube has become insanely boring and nothing but a time sink, it just takes up too much of my time and sometimes the whole day passes without me even being aware as i just sit and watch long form videos
heyyyy
youtube is NOT a bad platform
im telling u
there are PLENTY of resources
and u can find ppl with niche hobbies
never said it was, it's just a huge timesink and i've found that it's only a good platform when used as a search engine, completely avoiding subscriptions and the home page
yeahhh but at the same time, the things u watch regularly shape ur home page so maybe u can try watching vids about ur hobbies
and like watching shows and movies is alright, it just needs to be balanced
and the thing is that, having self control itself is VERYYY important
true, but even when the homepage is filled with stuff i like, it's still engineered to keep me watching for as long as possible
that's just how it was designed
may i ask u what is on ur feed?
if its alright for u to tell me
i don't even remember, it's been a while since i disabled watch history and i recently logged out of my account
but i don't even remember the last time a useful video popped up on my home page
what is for u a useful vid?
if u like to watch gaming content then sure, but maybe the problem isnt ur homepage but the way ur using it!
a video that teaches me something that i can either actively apply in real life and really benifet from or something that expands my knowledge in a way / field that i want it expanded in
i would recommend u to start ur day without ur phone
and maybe read a book
or read the newspaper!
and then do work, and if u need to open yt for it
then use an extension to disable the homepage
and when ur taking breaks
go outside and take a walk
while listening to music!
i already do that, atleast on weekdays, i spend the first hour of my day without my phone, then i read a book on the way to school, then a bit after school, and once i really come home and get changed and stuff then i allow myself to open my laptop, which usually leads to me getting super distracted
instead of doomscrolling or watching yt : )
and when ur done with most of ur work in that way, then do whatever u want
it feels MUCHH lighter
trust me with this one
i would love to do that but there are a bunch of stray dogs where i live so i think my supposedly relaxing walk would turn into me looking out for dogs
lolll, then just open ur window
and walk in ur house
its like 35+ degrees in the place where i live too
i feel u 😭
my room doesn't have too much space and it feels weird just walking around the whole house for no reason at all
heyyyyy
it wont feel weird im telling u!
give it a shot
its honestly better for me then going outside
its either too hot or too cold 😭
maybe it's not a bad idea but i just don't really like walking around my home, it just doesn't hit the same as walking outside with nothing but the sounds of nature (and cars driving by)
sorry for being stubborn
heyy its alright
maybe u can read a book
journal
during ur break
or even doodle!
i personally love to draw, even tho its hard for me to study it :///
i like reading and i do it pretty often, but it still doesn't really make me immune to the inevtiable distraction that is caused by me opening my laptop
then maybe watch educational vids or just fun geeky vids
as for journaling i only really do it when i feel like i have something worth writing, and i don't really like doodling
like vsauce
A REALLY GOOD YOUTUBER!
HE'S LIKE SOO FUN
and his videos arent even like hyperstimulating
or have subway surfers playing in the background and pretty educational!
so yea
this is a great idea, but i am very sorry for being stubborn when i say this. It's cool to learn new things from those videos but i've often found that i end up not remembering most of the information like a day after watching the video and in the moment it ends up also being a time sink
that is all i could give u as advice : ))) hope it works out for u : DD
u dont need to remember and dont be sorry for something
sometimes its just alright to watch smthin
without remembering every single aspect of it
i truly appreciate it
no problem : DD
i know. I just don't know why but i feel like youtube is just this huge detriment to my focus, especially when i come home from school tired and unable to study, and when i relax by reading a book, i usually end up with a headache, and that pushes me to get distracted even more, which i do by watching youtube
so it just feels like the only solution to this weird stage of addiction that i'm in is to completely cut off youtube until my brain reaches a natural conclusion on how to deal with youtube
and yes i've tried a nap after school, not very effective, tried meditation once and that was fine but also not that effective
THEN SLEEP FOR 8 HOURS
im not even kidding
ur prob sleep deprived
most ppl going to school are sleep deprived because the person who made this stupid idea of waking up at 5 or 6 to go to school
i usually sleep from 9:40 PM till 5:30 AM, i'm not sure that's considered sleep deprived
and coming back at 4 pm
do u fall asleep by that time
my school starts at 8 AM but i leave the house at 7:30, and it lasts until 1 Pm
or do u go to beda t that time
damnn, ur kind of lucky in this aspect
i fall asleep like before 10 pm, especially since i've started sleeping in pitch black
are u eating properly?
yeah it's much easier compared to western school systems
definitely
im an indian person 😭
my bad
getting 8 hours of sleep is already a luxury for me.....and like eating properly
a bit hard for me since the food in my school is worse than prison food
loll
even honestly when i realised that having a study buddy wont force me to change but then i realised that having a person like that wont force me to change!
it would be me!
tbh i don't know what you mean by that
yeah that's true
or having a person to tell u to study
its not bad to have a study buddy, that person was a decent person (my study buddy) but studying while being tired is a normal thing
and from what im hearing, ur getting proper sleep, nutrition, fixed ur water intake and ur school ends kind of early
not THAT early
so maybe, u should focus on building discipline : )
to be honest i myself can't really find something wrong either
that ties back to me having to embrace extreme boredom honestly
is boredom the only way?
or is trying new things
and like facing ur fears
i was reading this book called creative confidence
one of the points it said was that how facing ur fears can make u try new things!
not necessarily, but i just feel like forcing my brain into extreme boredom will somehow eventually lead to it coming up with a solution to "tame" youtube
it wont, u atleast wont be overstimulated
but u can achieve the same results by trying out various things like painting, playing an instrument, singing, journaling, writing and muchh more!!!
or even buying puzzles!
it may sound niche at first but its fun : D
for me the prob in school for me its the noise created and the sanity
they were trying to kill a lizard....
but like yea! just explore new things, and try to be the happiest version of urself
OHHH I FORGOT ONE THING
is ur mental health alright?
yeah noise is a problem in my school aswell
like sometimes it not even the physical factors sometimes
but the psychological factors
sometimes things at home, or school can cause u to not feel well!
yeah, i can't really say i feel any sort of mental problem, it's just not having these simple issues figured out that stresses me slightly, i feel as if i'm very close to beating this youtube addiction but at the same time i'm also not
sometimes its just that when ur emotionally tired, nthin seems feasible
maybe ur turning to youtube as a escape to reality
it happens a lot!
i know i'm turning to youtube as an escape from something, i don't know if it's silence, boredom, or something undiscovered to me
silence and boredom are my top two theories though
does ur school have any counsellors?
even if u feel like ur alright, talking to them might help u!
no, i'm not in a first world country lol
they are professionals and would know the best!
lolll
then i dont know
even personally, asking my parents for counselling sounds very daunting
but it might help u
career counselling also might help u!
i don't really think it'd do anything, i feel like deep down i know what i have to do (which is force myself into extreme boredom) but i also feel hesitant to do so
my school personally has a centre for career counselling and counselling in general! ask ur teachers about it
then do it
what is stopping u?
fear ig
i don't really know what career counseling is supposed to be, but i already want to know what major i want to go into after high school
this, i feel hesitant to do so although it feels like the only answer
is it really what u want or what the society expects of u?
maybe tomorrow! do nothing after coming back from school
and then tell me on thur
no it's what i want, i like software engineering and i can't really imagine myself in any other major
how it went
good!!! if thats what u like then do it : ))
but force urself into boredom
sometimes boredom can be that missing thing which can create a spark of creativity in life!
i'll go eat dinner now!
nice to talk to u : ))))) remember to update me on thur!
alright bye, tysm for the advice :)
will do (hopefully) :)
no problemmm, thank you for the companyyyy!!!
lol
just so you know, my definition of extreme boredom includes reading books for 90% of the day if i have to
dont read fun books
read non fiction books
or textbooks
not that reading books is boring to me, i enjoyed 1984 more than i'd enjoy an actual show
explore boredom in its rawest form
lolll, george orwell is truly one of a kind!!
i personally am reading notes from the underground
when you phrase it like that it sounds too extreme to me lol, i guess my definition of extreme boredom is just being disconnected from the internet
U NEED IT TO BE EXTREME
1984 was the first fiction book i've ever read, ever since then it's been hard to get into fiction again, but i'm reading the picture of dorian gray and that's not too bad so far
loll, my dad is a huge fan of it!
honestly, one day of extreme boredom isn't enough to do any real changes to any part of my brain
but sometimes, i like to read like current day fictions
ok i'm distracting you from your dinner, go eat and ping me if you wanna continue talking, but maybe we should move out of the help chat lol
never heard of him, i'm currently only really interested in the classics of fiction
damnn suprised
have u heard of the da vinci code
only as a name, don't know anything about the actual book
Ohhh, i'll reccomend u to readd it : ))
an amazing book!
noww i gtggg
dinnerr
byeeeee
thanks for the recommendation, maybe i'll check it out when i'm done with the few books i'm reading
bye
BRO I need mad help anyone onlineplease i just neede sgguesitons
just so you know, i didn't follow through, i had a massive headache and i feel like i should take a break before tomorrow in which i'll have to study history (which is very exhausting)
and honestly i feel like "embracing extreme boredom" is only worth it if it's a long term thing and not a one day experiment
dont take a break rn, study history rn!
ik its gonna be hard, but instead of studying A LOT tomorrow, try to divide it : )
i have 3 days to divide it, my exam is on sunday
Just gotta change the mindset tbh. Unless theres lore to extreme boredom beyond the normal use of the word lol
Mindset towards what?
Whether things are boring or not. Being very curious snd interested in the stuff around you is an advantage when it comes to learning things. What is the advantage of judging whether things are boring? It defends your time from topics that aren't important. But if they are important and youre viewing them that way, you gotta shift your mindset on them you know?
i appreciate the prespective, but i guess what i've been meaning by extreme boredom is just abandoning all sorts of technology that doesn't benifet me and does nothing besides keep me distracted
Well with that additional lore I agree
i guess the only thing that's really stopping me is fear, possibly a fear of having too much free time and nothing to do with it
These things are probably helping you deal with stress, thats why you dont want to abandon them. You need something to help you deal with that that doesn't get in the way of important stuff in your life. I think deep breathing and meditation is pretty good for that, and so is working out. Well there are all sorts of things that can help with it. It doesnt have to be these 2
it's really odd if that's the case, i don't really feel stressed, but that could be because technology is supressing that
but for me personally knowing that i'm using technology as an escape doesn't make it any easier to quit, i know the only way to quit is to just go cold turkey but at the same time it feels impossible
even if i'm using technology to cope with stress, that still doesn't really get rid of my fear of having too much free time and not enough stuff to do with that free time if i ever quit
I feel like you should be careful then, you're feeling that fear for a reason. Maybe some safe exploration into why could help, but don't overdo it.
i don't really think the source of that fear is something critical, i think it's really only because the only activites i have to do outside of the internet are read, study, spend time with my family, and a like 15 or so minute daily workout at home
plus i think my use of the word "fear" might've been a bit extreme, i think "concern" is more ideal
theres actually a lot of fun, interesting things you could be doing outside of youtube. You just gotta let your curiosity and thoughts run wild.
Even writing a book or learning to do handstands, practicing a sport, skating, playing guitar, climbing trees, etc
i'm sure there is, and the only way to find out is to actually quit
or exploring weird things you can do with different types of math equations
just think of it like this.. for any habit you have a cue (sensory input) -> urge to do a conditioned response -> do the response (youtube) -> mental/emotional reward.
if you want to break the habit you can attack any of these 4 parts of the loop
yeah i've read atomic habits, and tried to follow some of the advice it provides, i think the part that's really trapping me in is the cue
youre current target is attacking the cue. If you don't see the tech you wont do the thing.
okay cool you know what I mean then
i think the cue begins the moment i turn on my laptop
i built up a subconscious habit of opening discord as soon as my laptop opens
and that triggers another cue to open youtube and look for something to watch despite not even wanting to watch something
personally for me.. I think really paying attention to noticing when you get the urge you can change what you do in response. I like this approach since there are many habits where you can't do without the thing giving you the cue. Like say overeating, or needing a laptop for school stuff/research, or various other things.
But the key thing is, you need to recognize what this habit is giving you, and provide a healthier way to get that thing that isn't interfering with your life
i think actually removing the tech (even if it's software) like you said would also drastically help in recognizing the cue, especially when i go to open discord and go "oop discord isn't there"
I mean I used to spend hours on facebook, looking at what my exgirlfriend was saying among other things 😮💨 . It was very unhealthy and I'd open it up the first thing every time I logged on. I finally just deleted that sucker off my computer. And I have felt better ever since lol.
well i know youtube is providing me with a relief from boredom and i know i can get that same effect from a really good book whether fiction or self-help (i somehow can actually binge-read now and i feel weird about it because back in like november of 2025 i couldn't even think about reading books)
Ya, reading books is excellent, I have read a ton
as for discord, it's a trickier question. I know it provides some sense of connection, but it's hard to replace that since i live pretty far away from any friends, so the only real life connection i can really have is with my family
here is something else to consider. What do we do when we procrastinate what we want to do, but don't actually do? We say "oh yes, I'm totally going to do X, it will be great. But not right now, I'll do it later." And who knows when later is exactly anyway? This is actually a very effective way to deal with habits that are getting in the way. Don't try to stop doing them, accept you will do them just do it later on not at the moment.
but youtube is clear to me now, the cue is launching my laptop, the trigger is boredom
This way you don't have to fight yourself you just do it later on, whenever its more convenient
And if you think about it, theres no real difference between Watching youtube then studying, or studying then watching youtube. Its just changing the order, so you don't lose anything
that is a great way to deal with bad habits for sure, which is to delay them, but i've reached a point with youtube addiction where i don't actually have or want to watch anything on youtube. Yet i still fire up youtube and just look for anything to watch even if i've already watched it a bucnh of times, like i don't even seek out new videos or anything
and i don't really even have a reason to be on discord either besides to satisfy the need to feel connected and also because i have a "important role" in an arma 3 unit i'm in (which you might've noticed from my tag)
but i don't wanna cut off discord completely, as it does provide a genuine benifet and i think when discord is used right the positives could outweigh the negatives
You are not noticing the urge to open up youtube. That's why you are missing your chance to change the action there when you feel that urge, to something different.
well i know what i could shift it to, but you're right about me not exactly noticing the urge. But i also don't wanna keep constantly battling urges for the rest of my life if i quit youtube (unless i need it for the occasional tutorial or video i'm genuinely interested in)
Thats the thing its not about battling urges, its guiding your behavior to something else that is healthier for you that gives you the same thing
that way you form a new loop/habit that is better for you
but will i be force throughout my whole life to keep guiding that urge towards something better simply because i grew up with this tech? that seems like a not-so-nice way to live
Nah you're getting it twisted man. you just gotta do the new activity a few times and then your body accepts the new habit. No fighting necessary
Its gotta at least deal with your feeling of stress when it comes to studying though.. so something that lets you relax a bit
But maybe this activity just lasts for 2 minutes instead of 3 hours for example
that makes more sense, but the relaxing activity has to be something outside of the bad habit that i want to quit, which means i'm also guiding another deeper habit from doing something bad that masks itself as a relaxing activity towards something that's actuallyh good
I think deep breathing and meditation does the trick very well, and it helps clear the mind
Ya its gotta actually be something healthy and good for you. If you form a worse habit that defeats the purpose
The good thing about recognizing the urge, and replacing the response with a better one, is that you don't have to avoid the stuff giving the cue, which can be very inconvenient. Laptop is very useful for example
that's true, even if i were to take the extreme route and go cold turkey i wouldn't throw out my whole laptop
But you have to be watching for the urge or you'll just be doing the thing before you even notice
Once you are used to the new response that'll be what you go to. The habit should set in as long as the new response actually does its job.
For internet addictions it's harder to avoid the cue than it is for say a substance addition, since your laptop and the internet are actually really useful in a lot of ways.
all this habit talk that we've discussed honestly returns to my whole idea of going cold turkey for like atleast a month on the tech that i'm addicted to. Not to completely wreck all this great advice that you've given me ( and thank you for doing so)
thats why i recommend - recognize urge -> change response to something healthier
indeed, that is what makes internet addiction so much harder to break than most other addictions, it's not possible to just straight up say "this thing is obviously bad for you, if you quit it now you won't lose anything and you'll only gain back marvellous benifets"
Well feel free to experiment to a lot of ways, and see what works best. Don't get too hung up on whether you succeed or fail though. You just need to break free once from the addiction and you are all good. So you are sort of destined to succeed as long as you keep trying new things.
thank you for all the advice you've given me, i think i'll have to mess with both approaches of really focusing on that cue and trigger and also the approach of going cold turkey
No problem. I've broken free from a lot of addictions it feels like. Quit soda, coffee, carbs, facebook, etc etc
although some like coffee and carbs I take in in limited amounts now since they are useful for me lol
that's nice, funnily enough i quit caffeine by just going completely cold turkey for a month, my only caffeine intake now is lke 2 cups of tea once every friday and the occasional bit of chocolate if you wanna count that as caffeine
I quit for like 8 months, just some days I was really tired but wanted to get work done so I decided to start up again
also its inconvenient to study at a coffee shop without drinking coffee
yeah well that makes sense lol, i've also felt much more tired after quitting (or rather majorly reducing) my caffeine intake, but i just attribute that to the fact that i've only really cut off coffee for like maybe a bit more than two months
its like as long as you get sleep you have 50% more energy without lots of coffee. But on days where you lack sleep, you have better energy with coffee
i guess that's true, most of the time i get about 7 hours of sleep yet i end up tired in the afternoon and evening, i only wish i could figure out the source instead of just band-aiding the problem with caffeine
well.. lack of exercise or high carb diet early on can do that.
but could be a lot of things tbh
for example, i got 9 hours of sleep today since it's a weekend yet right now i feel completely exhausted
to be honest i don't really exercise often and on most if not all days i do eat carbs, but my diet is out of my choice until i become responsible for my own food. So the best i could do is exercise
Ya I think with good exercise you'll have a lot of energy. Also exercise has an insane amount of benefits. Makes me think I need to exercise more tbh.
i mean i used to exercise not too long ago and i'm not sure the quality of my sleep was any different
but ofc exercise doesn't hurt and i definitely should be doing it more often
Like it makes you more able and stronger/faster. More durable and resistant to injury. Improves mood tremendously. Most well-understood method to create new brain cells, neurogenesis. Helps to slow down aging. Good for metabolism and keeping a healthy weight.. its crazy
yeah exercise is great, my favorite form of exercise is walking but i'm no longer able to do that due to the fact that there are stray dogs where i live, a lot of them
anyways im gonna log off now, i should go to bed, goodnight and thank you for the advice
Ya don't take chances with stray dogs, and id say keep something on you to protect yourself when going out in case you need it. But theres a lot you can do at home. Like calisthenic workout routines, which I used to do a lot with pretty good success.
take care and good luck
i stopped going walking a while ago, the exercise i try to do now is just at home
thanks
If you need any resources for a good home workout routine dm and I will send you what I used to use
i appreciate that

Any MBA students here?
who has good projects on github?
guys guys guys I'm torn between wanting to do weights for toning my body and starting calisthenics
Calisthenics 👍
calisthenics def
Okayy thankss
I did calisthenics in the past. It's pretty good for building muscle, and it carries over to sports a bit more naturally than weight lifting
If you find any of the calisthenics tough/not fun you can substitute some weight lifting in too
Hey everyone! I wanted to ask if there's anyone here into Motion Design — I've been studying and practicing for a while now, working toward becoming a freelancer. I'd love to connect with someone who shares the same passion and is also on this learning journey, so we can support and learn from each other. If anyone's interested, please let me know — would love to hear from you!
How would you recommend beginners to start off for it? I have also been wanting to try it out for quite a while
I think for a beginner the best thing would be to use an already complete routine a fitness expert designed.
Personally what seemed pretty good to me for calisthenics was 'The Perfect Home workout' given by athlean X, and the official guides given on the calisthenics subreddit. Mainly i used the athlean x one. There's probably some other good routines out there, but these are the two good ones I know if.
If any of the things seem like not a good fit for you, replacing them with weight lifting or gym equipment is very doable.
This is the best channel I would recommend
He helps like COMPLETE beginners
Anyone has any tips on how to get dev remote jobs?
how do you continue working even when you kind of know you're cooked for the exam and your brain doesn't wanna do anything but theres still time before an exam..
Tell yourself you'll still do your best and it is what it is. If you procastinate rn and the exam goes bad, you'll feel regret for not studying and won't be able to enjoy anything afterwards. If you study rn you'll feel a lot better that the exam is over and that you did what you could. Plus last minute is when the brain might just lock in
thank you mate 🫂
All you can do is your best, results themselves are out of your control
gotcha mate..
Hello
I forgot what I study even I study it 10 time or write it several times
There's a forgetting pattern that exists
you forget 50% of what you learn in like an hour and 70% within 24 hours
So you have to constantly review the material
1 day, 3 days, 7 days, I think is the spaces between learning material
And when you review/ recall you have to do it actively not passively, else you'll forget again without properly trying to retain what you study
best is forcibly blurting down stuff on paper or attempting questions to see how much u remember wo looking at the material beforehand
Ty
Heyo peeps :D. Ive been using the forest app since forever ago to help track my studying and habits. Lately its been acting up on me and im just done
. I switched to YPT today. Im still learning my way around the app and am looking for a group of fellow YPT friends/study buddies. Please let me know if anybody has a group willing to adopt me. Thank youuuuu
You'll prolly get better reception if you post this in #study-buddies
Thinking about it now, Youre probably right. Ill move it over there then. Thank you! @young umbra
No problemo

Hey guys Does anyone recommend a good todolist/habit tracker app? I currently use TickTick and I switched over from Habitica. But idk I just didn’t like how everything was optimized.
I need help. I turned 18 yesterday and I feel lost like never before. I'm not where I want to be right now. I have dreams to achieve, but I can't seem to pursue them. I think about getting into medical school and becoming a doctor every day, but I failed my final year and will practically have to retake the exam to get in next year. I'm so scared I won't be able to cope. I can't cope with the thought of not achieving my dreams, but when I try to change something about myself, I encounter a wall I can't overcome. What do I need to do? Please help me.
I use habitify, it helps because its satisfying, u can archive habits, sync across devices, and the price is not bad like 15€ a year
sounds like you need one on one counseling with someone, have you tried seeing a therapist?
From a practical aspect, future dreams are built over the accumulation of current days or even current moments. Having a high efficiency in your day will translate to high achievement over time. Every day and moment is something worth fighting for. You may need to start doing some 'low effort' tracking, so you can see your daily wins when you do make good decisions with your time.
Where's the channel chat for when you have questions about personal improvment, or is this simply a study server?
<@&942391219206647828>
You can ask questions here
hence it's general help
oh, ok thanks
Thanks
Guys how to study late at night, without being so tired and sleepy, Im at the point where a can of red bull is not helping
i'd say sleep is much more important but considering your nickname i'm not sure that's an option
memorization of new information mostly happens when you're asleep, that's when the memories get moved from the short-term memory in the brain to the long-term memory (i forgot the names of the brain parts but one of them is the hipocampus iirc)
I got 2 chapters to memorize
would it be possible to at least get 7 hours of sleep and wake up early enough to memorize in the morning? if not then unfortunately this is the limit of my advice
yeah at some point the only thing that can be said is good luck
hey yall, anyone knows how to add roman numbers to pages on google docs and is availble to show me ??? 😭
guys how to come back and study.
i kept studying for 14 days straight then boom, everything vanished and I couldn't study for 10 days and I can't make myself return to study
Find a comfortable spot somewhere, crack open the book you need to read, or the notes or wtv, and read at least 1 sentence. See where that takes you
If it takes you 1 sentence deep, at least you studied more than the last 10 days 😎
I think I'll take the same advice myself and get started on some study
fair enough 💀
Look at it from a glass half full perspective though
Is there anyone here i can talk to
If you need takjm venting , needing some tips, you can reach me.
Ive crashed man
got my first igcse exam in 3 days
Ive been addicted to studying long hours like 12 hours consistently doing maths. i think i had built up fatigue that i just, crashed yesterday. I couldnt pick up a pen and do anything and my mind just couldnt
Ive tried sleeping 9 hours but i cant shut my eyes and i only got 6 hrs of sleep today
and i have never had this much less motivation man
my upcoming exam is ict i aimed for a 9, but i dont even know how to start studying
orry for the late reply—I was having a snack.
We accept a lot of BS about how success happens. I myself used to live in that “grind, grind, grind” mindset, and just like you, I crashed hard. But the good news is: you’re in a place I’ve already been. You just need to really see that we’ve been believing a lot of nonsense.
First, about motivation—which you say has never been this low. Motivation isn’t this magical thing we imagine. It’s basically just glucose in the brain. You used up all your fuel running a marathon. Of course you’re not going to suddenly “create” motivation out of nowhere.
Use this moment to unlearn, and to see that you can do things better, calmer, and more smoothly.
When you realize that this madness of pushing yourself until you’re empty doesn’t give the results we think—and often makes things worse than they are now—it all starts to change.
It’s time to learn to listen to your body. It’s in charge. (Another BS idea: “the brain is the computer and the body is the slave.” In reality, the body is infinitely more intelligent.) And your body is speaking: “I can’t keep going like this.” It’s time to slow down, or even stop for a bit.
From the way you write, I see you’re tired—but what’s really hurting you is the belief that you “must be motivated and study X hours a day whenever you want.” Let go of that pressure. Learn to listen to your body. Of course, this isn’t about making excuses—I’ve seen that happen too. In your case, it’s your body saying: “Either you stop for me, or I’ll stop for you.”
(...)
Motivation is just energy, which is glucose in the brain. So don’t feel guilty.
Reevaluate your timeline for the exam. Recalculate. And listen to your body saying: either you change the pace, or it will shut you down. You can’t just “will” yourself into motivation if your body is done—if it needs to, it will break down to protect you.
See this as a new opportunity to notice: “Wow, I was killing myself because movies and society taught me that I have to win through sheer effort.” That’s nonsense. It’s time to hit the brakes and change your style. I promise you it’s unnecessary to suffer like this. And even if it were necessary, it still wouldn’t work.
Recalculate your goals, respect your limits, and let’s relearn how to succeed without destroying yourself. To succeed from the very first day of studying all the way to the day you “make it.”
I hope you really hear me, because I see this crash-and-burn pattern so often, along with people ignoring any advice that sounds “too different.” (This kind of advice doesn’t get views—it’s easier to show a “Rambo” studying montage, right? That’s just marketing.)
Today is the day to get your mind out of the way and let your body readjust.
Your motivation will be restored with sleep and food. A juice, something sweet—those will do more for you right now than forcing yourself to study.
Keep me posted. Reach out if you need anything.
But for now, it’s time to slow down and learn to do things in a much better way.
something tells me you used ai for that response
Traduz para o ingles e de uma melhorda na minha escrita. (translate and format). People still read.
Logically this is the time i have to work hard the most to gain knowledge for exams but
The thing is its been a day where i didnt do shit
And today i really need to but my mind is not primed and functioning for it
I tried starting
Like 50 minutes
Eyes hurt
my bad, it's just because the em dashes made it seem like an ai response
Ive been good at ict, pretty good
Maths was my weakest link in my procrastination era with averages of 35% but ive been studying 12 hours a day and over 50 past papers and i dont regret it because i average 90% now
But i guess its a side effect where it messes me up for other subjects
First it was physics (another subject i averaged 90s but now i kind of plummeted)
Trust me, you’ll gain more by stopping for a while.
Just the fact that you want to take action but can’t is already draining your glucose (in other words, your motivation disappears just because you wish things were different).
I know it feels like a completely unproductive moment. But it’s actually the opposite: your body will be doing the work for you, and you’ll come back renewed.
But as long as this conflict is there—“I need to… but I can’t… I HAVE to manage this”—your body won’t be able to return to normal.
These inner conflicts—even something as simple as choosing “Should I do this or that today?”—consume your glucose, a.k.a. your motivation.
Believe it or not, by “doing nothing,” you’re actually helping.
Your body will bounce back quickly. It’s time to take a moment for a hobby. Honestly, even watching TV right now will be more beneficial.
Don’t feel bad about it.
As long as the conflict continues—“I need to do this but I can’t”—your body isn’t gathering the energy it needs to reset. On top of that, it releases cortisol (the stress neurohormone—pure poison). So right now, you’re burning through the energy that should be stored and, at the same time, being corroded by cortisol and stress. That makes getting out of this state much harder.
See this pause as something productive—because it is.
Exactly. You made a huge leap—congratulations.
Now it’s about finding a sweet spot so you can stay consistent. A consistent person always wins in the end, because it’s impossible to maintain certain intense paces forever.
Time for fine-tuning. You’ll see that you’ll have energy for other things as well—and more time too.
I see, so relaxing the mind could be a small help
Ill try to manage the condition right now without intense consistency
NO small. BIGGEST.
Ill probably set a small goal like one past paper
Theres 24 hours
1.5hrs wont hurt
Yeah
Thank you
I wont beat myself for being inconsistent
But i will try because the exam is pretty serious
Think as a Navy Seal : “Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.”
Your body is trying to help you succed . Start to listen. Let it be ready first.
Send the news, later os the new adaptation.
I know im giving a advice not popular.. But let it try...

You guys really need a system to track bots and scammers and stuff good lord
😔
we do
was feeling a bit down today, but honestly last couple days has been fire. Been tracking my work session and just putting my head down and work, felt really easy at times. i also stop playing valorant, i hit diamond 1 (solo all by myself in apac server hehe) and that was my end point. Almost relapse today but joining a study room helps. I also made some moves on my project. It was hard and i've been delaying it so much since my routine has been all about working with my cofounder, so trying to add some new routine made me anxious.
Man I'm struggling to focus
how can one have a healthy realtionship with discord? discord - as with any other social media platform - is engineered to be addictive, with the red ping circle and the ping sound (which yes, can be disabled with dnd, but it still lives in the bar icon) but discord can be a genuinely helpful platform, such as this server, but even on a server that's "meant for productivity" like this one, i still find myself easily distracted by discord, so what's the solution? because by abandoning discord entirely i lose the benifet of easy and benificial connection (and honestly i feel like i'd go just a little bit insane if i quit discord as it's a major source of my communication / connection) and if i stay i feel like i'll constantly be trapped in this state of distraction
i plan on quitting all gaming related discord servers (besides one which i'm only leaving temporarily until a period where i really need to be indistractable is over) but i feel like even that won't help since clearly i can still get distracted by "productivity" servers
You will find a similar relationship among all beneficial activities for people. For a beneficial activity if you don't engage in it you are losing out, if you engage in it too much it can become a problem (this is true for ANY beneficial activity). There is an optimal amount/range of engaging with the activity that will maximize your benefits. This is the concept of moderation, not over-doing it with activities that are good for you, but not quitting them either.
Where people misuse moderation is they try to apply it to activities that are bad for them. That simply harms them, it is a concept for beneficial activities
that is indeed true, but i have experimented with blocking discord based on a schedule, and that has caused unexpected anxiety during the times it is blocked, as in i keep thinking about the messages that i've sent and if the person that has sent them is expecting a response somewhat instantly as is the norm these days
Yes, I would not recommend blocking discord since it has more benefits for you than negatives.
but if i leave it unblocked and open to check at any time, i'm only enticing and encouraging myself to check it, it seems like a problem with no solution
There are definitely solutions to this issue and many things that could be attempted to try and help you moderate your usage.
Quite a bit of it is getting control of your responses to stimuli/emotions, and using it because you actually think it's a good thing consciously, not automatically. Even if you fail though remember, it's not that bad since you can even use it to help you solve other things you are trying to do.
You do gotta get used to not caring when people respond and enjoying your time with a clear mind until they do. I'm not saying it's easy, but just tell yourself 'that person is busy, and they'll get back to me when they can or if they want to'. Even if they don't want to reply, you're still a valuable person and it doesn't really matter what they do.
For clearing the mind of intrusive thoughts, my advice is don't resist them. Just focus on your breathing and let your mind think what it wants. Eventually it'll settle down as you keep feeling your breath inhaling and exhaling. 'All thoughts too shall pass'. Its a good way to reset your thinking.
Hi everyone!
I’ve recently started writing blogs around Java, Spring Boot, and backend development.
Just published my latest article on Pagination in Spring Boot—covering how it works internally and how to build a clean custom response.
Would love your feedback, and feel free to follow me on Medium if you find it helpful!
Naaah dont listen to others. Keep the focus and have discord blocked. Only young people think its nessary to be active 24/7 or expect fast responds. As long you respond to them at somepoint of the day and not after 1-2 days, just to be a good friend
And if its a girlfriend, drop what I said and fast respond xD
thanks for the advice, but i've (at least somewhat) concluded that having discord blocked on a schedule does more harm than good, and the best way to use discord is to master internal triggers and know what leads to me overconsuming on discord, discord can be a useful tool and i think if i learn how to utilize discord then that'd be better than quitting it (almost) cold turkey
Bro T_T just keep your self red. No one said to quit discord. Just keep it red and when you feel to respond, just respond.
i already stay on dnd, doesn't stop me from checking discord even when i'm not expecting anything
oh... not had that problem before, sorry I dont think I can help :(
no problem, like i said i'm pretty sure that part is an internal trigger
might get a shock collor :3

Ohh ok
i wish i can stop wasting time on youtube and games. My main problem is when i finish my homework, i believe i have nothing to do. Mainly because either all of the productive and worthwhile (like reading and learning languages) are in no access. And i'm left with youtube. I keep trying to motivate myself to do these productive things but my brain always rejects it and i just consume unhealthy dopamine. i need advice on how to block useless youtube and games.
@low cave do you want some help? Dm mate
we have the same problem lol😭
wdym no access? you can still use youtube to watch educational content like audiobooks or learning languages tho, just don't engage with the entertainment stuff
it's not that easy for most if not all people, one thing that helps (but is not the solution to the problem) is to use extensions to make youtube as boring and minimal as possible, and effectively turn it into nothing but a search engine, for example, this is how my youtube looks like: @low cave
ideally the best way to deal with youtube addiction (and some other addictions imo, but no clear example comes to mind besides discord) is to look within the self, and to know what pushes us internally to use these platforms in an unhealthy manner
Is there anybody who is currently doing agriculture? I'm thinking of choosing it . I just wanted to know your experience and future prospects and what to look out for(I am from India just in case).

Hi so I’ve procrastinated cleaning and unpacking my apartment for 2 months now😭 today’s the last day in my break to get this done before I start work again (literally eating me up). I think I just need someone otp with me as I do it can someone help pls
as you know dont do anything entirely new
just read the familiar and high weightage topics
dealing with anxiety while having exams
hi people, i'm curious and I wanna know few tips on handling the late-min studying of examinations without getting overburned of anxiety and panic
thanks in advance🫶
My tip is be aware of what you are in control of and what you are not. You aren't in control of any results, you aren't in control of other people, you don't know the future, you cannot foresee all outcomes. You are in control of the actions you take, you are able to figure out the study methods and materials that work best for you, you can figure out what you should be doing in the present moment. Hence any evaluations you do should be on whether you met your own standards for yourself in regards to that.
If it's an intrusive thought problem, then besides shifting your perspective I would recommend to do some deep breathing for a couple of minutes.
well heres the thing. most times when i actually want to do productive things. my brain tells me "This is too difficult, just watch 1 video for 5 minutes" then i waste 6 hours on an amine that i never even heard of before. When there's good, there's always evil. Where you say "watch educational content like audiobooks or learning languages", i don't know why but it seems like i just burn out over productive hard things to do. All i do everyday is slack off and regret it for the most part.
thanks for showing me blue, you know what extension that is? i have FireFox
Sometimes you just gotta turn off the brain and start doing stuff
@spice pine hey i was wondering if i can drop an advertisement for people to join my japanese learning group, i can send u the advert in dms if u say
Hi! We don't really encourage advertisements for groups as much, in light of James' wishes. Thanku for asking :)
@spice pine people are still promoting tho, by looking at these messages i was thinking to start my own productive group
🥹
Yeah thats going to get them banned
Is it possible to complete binomials a night before the exam
What can I do if my sleep schedule is messed up? I can't eep early, and I slept 12 hours (4am to 4pm)
I put the most annoying alarm and I dont hear it
Maybe take a 2-3 hour nap in the middle of your day, that should help throw everything off and maybe you can get a good schedule after that
Like, no eep today, and just take a nap?
Nah I mean like just lie down and try to sneak in a quick nap, maybe after eating lunch
it will totally throw off your normal sleep, so if your schedule is bad it might help reset it
Like tonight?
Whenever the middle of your 'day' is yes
just a couple hour nap
Ok thanks
As a fellow person who has slept during the day and stayed up during the night in the past, I thought I'd tell you what worked best for me. Hope it all works out 🤞 . Worse case you just get a couple of hours of rest
Whats a good alarm clock thats wireless and for heavy sleepers, my phones alarm doesnt wake me, and I think having an alarm that buzzes a lot physically and gets quite loud could help me a lot lol.
The ultimate alarm clock is to drink some water before you go to bed. Drink more the earlier you need to wake up (like 3 hours)
Search for a ( wireless bed shaker alarm) on Amazon. It’s basically an alarm that shakes the bed or pillow, you can also set it on only loud sound or just the shaking alarm
thank you
Bro. This is. A scam. DO NOT trust, Robinsonmanae.
use alarmy man
always wakes me up
Perhaps you should go to bed earlier
Yeah probably, but its difficult to sleep earlier lol

How do y’all stay motivated while studying when it feels like we won’t make it in time?
Fear lol
Relatable TT
Also the exact same amount of time will pass anyways, might as well do what you can in it so that after the submission/exam you can enjoy your time rather than procastinate now and end up having regrets after the exam/submission
Thanks 😭 but I can’t really enjoy it if I end up performing badly right
You wont perform badly dont worry, just do your best rn and let this short amount of time pass so you can get done with the exam and relax
Dont wait for motivation, just start and hopefully you will build momentum
Will keep that in mind thanks
I set up a list of stuff I gotta do and just go for it. I can't control if I can make it or not, but I can at least try for it.
True

Is there anyone who got successful with stopping their maladaptive daydreaming?
@buoyant bluff @spice pond @ivory oxide @hollow summit @waxen flint @spice pine
tagged people mentioned "maladaptive" earlier. Sorry if I caused any of you to get disturbed.
no and I am not even trying anymore just accepted my fate, if u cant accept it but you WANT to get rid of it try meditation or a doctor
yeah those two suggestions are highly recommended by online resources too. I don't think that I can't overcome this situation.
I tried meditation and after 2 sessions (20 minutes a day) I saw BIG difference but I wasnt consistent with meditation cuz im lazy piece of shit
idk bout u
but for me literally 2 days and I could catch when im going into "flow" and stop before i get into malad dreaming
so you can try it
