Not every country comes under the Eu education pact thingy
you can get a loan
Youll needa earn money with interest to return it
and if you can't get into uni idk what to tell you tbh
you're kinda cooked in that case
Aswell as america
It aint Eu everywhere
anyone who wants it can study
I know, life is just so comfy here
literally all you need to do is study and you get a good life
But this routine is perfect for asians
Its not cultural
In asia unis arent free
Education costs money
Even if u pass out
You wont get a good job
Youll needa grind your ass off
Even if you have a 98% score
but once you do then the job will be easy
that's why asia always scores at the bottom when it comes to productivity charts
the USA and EU are much more productive
difference being that labour laws in america are dogshit compared to the EU ones
and americans work much more hours
I have lived there for like 11 years
so per hour productivity is the highest here, even though it feels to me as if we're doing nothing at all
The problem is the economy
Yk they have large ass taxes
Asian is fucked up
20% VAT, 30% inheritance
Because you have free health care and education
not free, we also pay
In sverige its free
not for long
mass immigration has taken a toll on their social welfare system
🥀
Nothing wrong with being an immigrant
sure?
I'm talking about the assylum seekers that do nothing all day and make 10 kids
And not obey the laws
Call then drug addicts
sweden deserves it though
Deserve what
everything that's happening to them
Nothing wrong lol
sure? have you seen the recent statistics
The economy is a bad mid
Screw those man
you can't walk around at night as a woman
We cant be nerds all the time and look at them
so many horrible cases and the gov does nothing
Fualt of the government not the immigrants
I agree
Im a brown immigrant and now a eu national
it's about letting the entire 3rd world into your nation from war thorn areas
And immigrants like me which respect you
work migrants are essential for hte EU
And follow the rules
without work migrants we would be screwed
true
Also living Together with unity as humans is Great
W
Especially the pick pockets
we can't
Then blame yourself 😩
nah dawg, blame international humanitarian law 💀
we can't just kick them out like that
and even if we did there are so many of them
deporting millions of people ain't that easy
nato is useless
the countries are too divided
and the usa is not a country that you can trust
Racist people are good at deporting yk that😭
not really, racist people tend to be idiots and incompetent at everything they try
No country can be trusted besides china in 2025
just look at trump
He kicked out so many mexicans:(
he hasn't deported more than a thousand people or so, yet there are millions of illegals coming into his country every year
Mexicans literally make your tacos and salsa chips
not really
okay bro now you're just being racist 💀
you can't just assume that that's all they do 😭
W mexico
also canada
l gb
for invading the entire globe
and having an l economy
after the collapse
also this is why countries are screwing up
where are you from @smoky tundra
Earth
you can bash other people but won't share what your ethnicity is?

oh wait you're indian lol
not surprised
Hello i haven't touched solidworks. I need to learn it. I have one week off but also a huge backlog in maths physics so i can't fully dedicate it to it max 4h a day. Does anyone have any tips
im kashmiri
;]
yelp theyre so many other countries in south asia aswell dude
even tho we all share simmilar culture
uh huh
Not really, Indians are really different from other Asians
Be it in appearances and culture wise
how to be happy being alone? i know alot of people but i really cant consider them as my friends. im always surrounded by people but still cant feel like im with them. my whole body was burning today idk what is happening to me
You can’t, humans are social animals that seek interactions with others
Do you need someone to listen to you, or provide actual practical solutions?
idk man i kinda feel like a mess i got get myself together. thank you
no we dont sorry. stop saying this bec every time you do you make sure no one gets to see the uniqueness of each South Asian country. its not right and comes across as an attempt to erase distinct independent identities. a common tactic used by fascist empires...
does anyone know a cheaper alternative to the monitor arm used in this video that is compact and does not protrude too much
what are u talking about?
just order it from amazon
you should look at your own statement and ask yourself. dont act puzzled. dont say things to erase distinct country's distinct cultures. 😕
they do have some things in common u dont gotta be mad on it
no none of us have same culture stop repeating it. dont try to erase people's distinct cultural identities by saying everyone in south asia has indian culture we all know what this sentence is rooted in and in what sense indians use it.
bruh when did i say indian culture
i never mentioned it
learn to respect cultural identities.
you said it
yo
Howdy...hows it going ☺️
is it foolish to go straight to memorising past exam papers answers only without trying to understand why? If the question/choices are going to pop up and be worded exactly the same as last year, what is the point in using extra brain power to understand why when it'll be the exact same answer anyway?
it depends... if you're talking about a course that is about something you'd like to work on, then you should try to understand the material. if you're talking about a course that you don't really care about, then you can do it, if you don't have the time to understand all the material. I'm going to be honest, I'm an apologist that we should at least try to understand the main point of the courses we're taking, but sometimes it's just too much, or you're not so good, or it's just hard. so yeah
Actually this is something school teaches us to do. Ask no questions just do the stuff we want you to do and pass the grade.
But yeah get a conceptual hold on the stuff (not like text book definitions) but yeah get a hold on what is the basic meaning of the topic and memorise the q&a
A good point about memorising q&a is that you also learn about that topic by memorisation.
what do yall usually do on break days if you have limited time?
break days...? 😟 do i have those?
Theres no break days man sorry😭
any EE students
Do i need to be turning past exam papers into flashcards? What do i do if i am running short on time for past exam papers. what is the most efficient way to be using them?
anyone have any tips for ADHD studying. i'm 19 on medication and i've tried a few different methods but none seem to really stick with me. If there's anyone wiser than i with more experience hit me up

Hey, guys!
I know this is a bit outside the usual topics here, but I’m currently working on an academic comparative study about storytelling and communication styles across cultures.
So I wanted to ask first if it’s okay to share the link here. It’s completely optional, and I totally understand if anyone prefers not to take part. Thanks so much for your kindness and time!
send it
Hey guys, could you please fill out my survey? Thanks! It is for high school students ages 13-19 and deals with application permission requests. It should take about 5 minutes to complete. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdCzR0nRf2p_kqyLYEXBXDRqUWVOIQHWmU5P8_tVLI-TZwKIQ/viewform?usp=header
Hello, thank you all for opening this and taking the time to participate in this short five-minute survey. I appreciate your help in helping me complete my Research. Please answer honestly and do not feel pressured to take this as seriously as a formal academic test. Do not think too hard; there are no right or wrong answers for most questions. ...
Thank you indeed:)
Here's the link below:

If you can share it with friends or something, that'd help me a lot.
Hey guys, does anyone happen to know a comprehensive video which provides instructions on how to apply for a college abroad? I'm hoping that someone could guide me through the linear process
which country are you targeting? and which country are you in right now?
processes vary from country to country
I’m choosing between European countries and Australia. Australia being the priority
And I’m from Vietnam
I heard that it’s getting more difficult to acquire a visa to Australia due to changes in policies, other than that, the requirements for a scholarship are very commanding
iirc they increased the minimum criteria for ielts score
yep
What is the criteria now?
i don't remember exactly
few years ago i was also addicted to this thought of going to australia
dropped it, cuz Indian's have been facing racism a lot
I plan to score 1550 on my sats so hopefully that’ll help too, but other than that, I’m looking for a comprehensive guide on how to apply to schools abroad
Fair enough, I still intend to pursue further education there regardless
It’s unfortunately the norm for most sea countries to be discriminated against
But that doesn’t matter
heyy, I want to learn more about the world’s history cause I feel like I barely know anything, does anyone know some free resources I can check out?
wikipedia
just click on random things and search random things
when i was like nine, my favourite thing to do was look at planes or fish on wikipedia
It depends on the topics, historical periods, cultures, and civilizations you will learn about. So before relying on one or two specific resources, classify the phases you prefer first. Each civilization has many layers of history, and also note that learning history needs a well-prepared schedule to follow. You can classify history from several perspectives: from the most ancient till now, the history of religions, the history of each continent, each country...

Write your worries down and set a time to settle it. Meditate a little and come back to your work. That's what my counselor told me.

hello everyone, is here anyone willing to give me some study tips? exams are on my head, i was so concentrated and good student before, but as the exams are reaching to me, i am getting more and more distracted and not feeling like studying. please give me some tips guys.
Write your thoughts down.
Recheck stuff I gotta memorise and do past papers.
If it's more of a prose based type of exam then I'll just read the assignments I've made.
I think that you are entering burn out. Maybe studying less time per day could help you relax and get back on track.
oh okayy, thanks
It's a quote about the life of Alfred Marshall. He was a very important 19th century economist.
For most of his adult life, Marshall was virtually a shut-in, suffering from gallstones, high blood pressure, and nervous tension. In the end he died (of heart failure) a lonely invalid in 1924,
Now it makes sense

Hello chattt
how should i manage my tasks . like i have a lot to revise but i feel that watching vids on it wont do jack shit. should i re read notes? should i do qeustions? i need active learning but also like my marks are not doing that well as of now and i need to be ahead of the school cause the school slow asf. so how to i study for that?? how do u like watch vids and do active learning while doing it. i find that i cant remember much if i dont study actively. know that i study for 4-6 hours a day and im studying physcis chem and biology.
Yeah i totally get how you feel.. (i hate staring at the screen and doing nothing) Passive learning can often feel like a waste of time to me :( 4-6 hours a day is pretty good i think. maybe making that time more active is the key. i use my notes for quick active recall.. read a section, cover it, and try to write the main points from memory. (+++ i realised that talking to myself as if i were explaining something to someone else is also very useful... it can be an alternative method maybe. Explaining something in a serious manner, as if teaching a lesson to someone.) then switch to question practice. dedicating the majority of your study time to solving the problems and checking ur notes. +++ now prioritize the oldest tasks on your list now. and just dont forget "practice is tje best revision".. i also study on things with a similar studying principle to biology, and this method (especially working as if explaining it to someone) works very well for me... I hope it works for you too... good luck! @vital pumice
Gosh guys im so nerfed
Got my exams starting on 19th
With my practical exams starting from tmr
I feel like im under prepared asf
Like the problem isn't that I've got a lot to cover
The problem is i feel like I've lost the spirit
The "drive"
I feel you. These feelings before upcoming exams always come as a package.
But one of my friends once told me something that really stuck with me: we shouldn’t wait to feel driven or motivated. We’re forced to move forward no matter how we feel or what we’re going through.
If motivation comes, that’s great; but if it doesn’t, that has to be fine too, coz our progress shouldn’t depend on it. Just start moving, and the motivation will follow later. Put your feelings aside and begin your battle:)

That's on point. And I personally think it has something to do with burnout as well. Whenever I'm able to finish a chapter or reach a definite goal, those spirits seem to slowly return.
hi can someone help me with explaining a chart?
I'll send you the slides
it's pretty simple I'm just really overwhelmed so I'm having problems understanding
this one

The vulnerability flowchart
I can't figure out how to make it
could be, I'm not sure:/
Anyone here bought the xteink x4 from AliExpress in the UK? Just wondering if you had to pay any import tax
Which physics YouTuber did you guys rely on for General Physics 1, and they turned out to be good?
how can i fix my attention span, i can't seem to work anymore i have a lot of exams due and i can't even make myself start to study i quit 10 mins in, i have missed 80h+ worth of classes i'm in highschool and i'm in 11th grade. I kinda have lost motivation for basically everything but i can't sacrifice my future out of laziness.
oh and i'm repeating a grade i should've been in 12th, i'm making the same mistake as last year..
Hey everyone! 👋
I’m originally from South Asia and living in the U.S. right now. I finally managed to save up about $16k to start an LPN program — classes are Monday through Thursday from 4–10 pm, and 2 of those days include lab. On top of that, I’ll be working 40 hours every weekend (Friday–Sunday), so I’m trying to figure out how to balance everything without burning out.
For those who’ve been through nursing school or similar programs:
• How did you manage studying while working full-time weekends?
• Any tips for memorizing fundamentals like A&P, skills, meds, etc.?
• What helped you stay organized and not fall behind?
• Any tricks, apps, or routines that really helped you succeed?
I’m motivated and ready to grind — just hoping to learn from your experiences to set myself up the right way to help others and growing myself at the same time. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share! 🙏💪
blocking social media is a good start.
deleting them is better but blocking is not bad there are really good apps and web extensions for it.
.
youtube and discord are my two biggest distractions

Hi. Is anyone from Melbourne Australia? I will be traveling there this Tueday and I need some help to know few things about Melbourne. Please help
Well....I did delete social media apps for a year to study, honestly super helpful.
Using some kind of tracker is helpful and gives u that visual treat of seeing your hardwork...I used forest. I have a Samsung and there is focus mode, where u can block selected apps for hours and it was great.
I also think journalling just before u start to set goals or just reminding yourself why you are doing it and how much it is going to be worth it to study...gives u something to get started with.
I also think if you still consume content from reddit/youtube...to consume more study related content. I used to stream James, when I studied cause it made me see someone work harder and I wanted to do atleast 1% of what he was doing. So it's like having a study buddy when u dont have one....and u wont be tempted to use other apps when streaming.
Idk these worked for me to start studying. Hope it helps you too.
Ey chat, can anyone help me solve this problem. I have been having issues with getting sleep for a while now. Every day is the same. I say to myself, I will not go on my phone after I go to bed, but unfortunately I need a separate alarm from the rest of the household since they wake up late, and I don't want to wake them up. The issue I find is that I will go on my phone saying I can watch one episode of something completly random, and then the next thing I know it's 3am in the morning and I was supposed to get up at 4:30. How do I stop this horrible habit while still having my alarm functional. It is really messing with my results in overall life, I have very little energy, haven't worked out for weeks, barely any motivation or brain capacity to study. I tried studying now after maybe 2-3 hours of sleep this night and I got a single math problem solved. I am out of brain power now, any help to find a potential fix for me to still have my alarm but not scroll on my phone when I go to bed.
I am also having this issue where I don't know where to begin in my studies so I just read the material once and never look at it again. I think this is due to my incredibly low energy. Forgot to add that I started drinking coffee because for some reason I thought it would help a little, but only makes the problem worse.
easy: buy an alarm clock, skip the phone and leave it outside of your room
hard: break the habit, don't say "i can watch..." - make an effort to look at the time, count how many hours you have to sleep, and i bet that you'll choose sleep every time
you need a plan when you study, otherwise you do things aimlessly
before you start a study session ask yourself what you need to focus on, whether the content is theory-based or more practical
if it's more practical, see if your teacher or any of your classmates recommends any practice questions and do them
if it's theory, reading might be enough, or if it's terminology, you might need to make flashcards
skip the coffee
😭 1 cup isnt so bad
Well Only the og's know how 1 cup becomes 4 cups 😔
Would you guys recomend obsidian for note taking, for like maths or economics or productivity?
samsung notes
I don't have an alarm clock, but when I left my phone outside of the room I did manage to sleep 9 or so hours (overslept a bit since I didn't have anything that important to do and I had no alarm) Still got some "urges" to go grab my laptop and watch something, but I avoided it.
good work
here's a trick for you: if you sleep at roughly the same time every day, you're gonna wake up at roughly the same time naturally without an alarm
make that a habit, and i find that i regularly wake up a few minutes before my alarm rings - why need the alarm then
definitely still get an alarm clock as a failsafe, but still... can't beat your own clock 😎
the longer you keep this up, the closer it is to becoming a habit, the easier it will feel every day, and the less you will have the urges
right now you're simultaneously getting better sleep, setting a good sleep schedule, and stopping your reliance on instant gratification like videos
how was your energy level today, after sleeping so well?
Can anyone help me with my personal statement essay for college?
Talking over vc if possible

Hi, can someone please give me an advice on learning (or just your point of view)? I have around 450 questions to learn till 20th of january. I've already answered around 160. My idea is to answer all questions until Christmas and then learn them. Is it okay or should I learn 160 questions batch and then do other? I'm scared that I would forget them because these took me around 16 days to answer.
As for me , doing both simultaneously works more and is far efficient. If you r only answering without learning then u get an illusion of studying. So be in a position where u know the answer very well to at least half of these questions. Just learning some questions daily consistently is helpful . Then keep a weekly revision session .
is anyone doing SAT ?
i have an exam in 50days that will decide if i get a good college or not , as the exam is approaching closer , my study hours are declining on a rapid pace. how can i keep consistency , my distraction is youtube
hello ,I think you should start with the term that you are declining at a rapid pace. It could be that you are spending too much time studying and losing the balance of your life. Because I used to meet exactly the situation like you before, and I decided to decrease the time of learning, but while I was studying, I shut down all the connections to social media, and I hope this could help you. If you want to get clearer advice, you can tell us the specifics of what you feel right now, like: you are so pressured, or the study is too much,...
i feel pressured , a year back i was super serious about this exam and now only 50days are left and i have alot of things left to do . i sit down to study but i couldnt get myself to study . like i have my questions pdf open , pomodoro timer running but i cant get my self to start solving the questions , end up just staring at my notebook and thinking nothing
Your feeling right now is very popular with everyone, because you have identified your problem already, so I don't want to say some bullshit motivation, so I will tell you what I used to do to get over it. When I was at that time, I spent a day break not learn anything, just going outside to do some entertaining activities. After that, I sit back I analyze again what I should focus now, I will think like this "Okay I can not learn everthing so what is the thing that I need to make sure that I need to do it exactly when I am in an exam" then I will make thing like a list thing that "I have to know" and the "Advance" (what I need to see when 3-5 days left before the exam). Finally, I started to learn and solve the question. You can try to make a new routine for your podomoro like longer study, longer break - this is just advice.
ok man i will try this
thank you for ur time
Everything is just for reference, it depends on your situation, you have tried for more than 300 days, don't give up because of the last few days
yeah exactly
bro a wild Viet in the server
u got this bruv
I'm one semester in AP lang and I still don't know how to write a rhetorical analysis essay. Any recourses to learn how to?

Is there anything who is currently using or had a BOOX device that could share their experience using them?
I want to get my first e-ink device and i prefer b&w no front light so for that i would have to go for the Go 10.3 or the Note Max.
Personally i think Note Max will suit me better but idk if its worth the price, Go 10.3 probably wont be as fast as i want it to be.
Another big concern is that a lot of people said that their device stopped working or had a serious bug in a short time of use, some even after 3 days of use.
So im like...should i take the risk or nah
Yes next year
Can anyone suggest a good way to** REVISE especially biology?**
I revise based on books and notes and my notes are pretty good . But while revising first of all I feel I have forgotten everything so blurting doesn't work for me. And also , there's a lot of information here so it's not just that I have to recall mechanisms or concepts cz obv they r easy to recall as so I wouldnt be asking it . So any suggestion to revise bio ?

u could also write essays and ask chatgpt to grade ur essays

I suck at geometry. I'm better at algebra
Here's what works for me:
- Making short notes out of the text/daily notes. Only include what all is important, and make a separate section for stuff you find confusing or have difficulty to understand. Write in it with pencil so you can erase topics that your familiar with now, or include others. Also, you can include another section for tips and tricks to solve certain questions or identify mechanisms/processes. I also leave some space after i fill in each topic, incase i learn something new later on and might need to add it.
2.** Revise smartly**, don't always go for revising the whole text. Make use of past year questions and sample papers for the 'easy' topics and make urself familiar with the pattern of questions asked, that way you wont have to reread this content again and again . For the 'difficult/confusing' topics, try revising on a daily basis and practice solving questions.
- Don't skip question solving. It may sound ridiculous to see this word for idk the 10th time?? But the more emphasis I put on this, the lesser it is. You need to challenge yourself in order to know what your strengths and weaknesses are. This way you can manage your revision time efficiently.
All in all, thrs just 3 tips: make short notes, revise what is required, and solve ALOT of questions.
This is what works for me, you can always modify it according to you and your needs. Hope this helped.
Trust the process, you got this!
p.s.: this works for every subject not only biology, for physics i do the same thing but instead of textual shortnotes, i usually include all the formulas, important laws/definitions and the rest is the same. You can even invlude mnemonics to make it easier.
anyone expert in engineering drawing then please help this shi is so tough
Heya adminssss pliz link james scholz youtube channel in some channel so whenever he drops a video or live , the youtube app automatically posts it in some announcement kind of channel. It will be helpful for everyone following james streams here

How do you actually study? Like what is the procedcure? what do u do?
Hello, can someone read my personal statement and give me insight?
my back hurts for being in the chair, does anyone else experience the same?
Yea same I need help too but I’m slowly getting better and my grade are SM better then last year if u want we could talk and help each other out if anyone else needs help maybe we could make a server
i think its best to make schedule according to your energy levels, our advice will just help you 10%. Example= morning if your energy levels are high do the max tryhard session that time, afternoon for skills, evening for mid study session and night for tests or practice questions. This works for me.
you can join my server , we have scheduled timetable there you can find multiple scheduled timetable there and you can make yours

If you're interested and can commit to staying consistent (not just for a few days, but for the long haul), please reach out:

Heyyy is there any law or international law students here im in my senior year of high school im confused and not sure so i want advice and wanna see and understand more about the major or just job market etccc...
Oh heyy,
Let me search up
This one is similar
This kinda chair is v comfy
oh I rec this or any chair that have reclining mode cause they will suit our back posture, as it will be more flexible. Usually chairs are designed for standard back posture but mostly are not suitable for everyone (even me) => easily leads to back pain.
omgg that's such a beautiful chair, but at the moment I'm kinda broke, maybe I should add somo pillow for my chair
How to study for long periods of time without breaks
btw what are you studying?
have sufficient energy and decide what do you wanna finish
and remove all the distractions and try to get into deep focus
I study on my PC
Although I remove all distractions while studying, I sometimes get bored during online lectures or study sessions, which leads me to open YouTube or anything that wastes my time
I complete all my daily tasks, but I believe I still have a lot of unused time that could be invested in improving my studying
Can anyone help me avoid wasting this time and stay focused while studying on my PC?
Thank you
may i ask what you've tried already?
I deactivated my Instagram account and deleted online video games and now I only use youtube and facebook because I need them for my lectures. I don’t spend much time on social media, but I want to avoid using them when I feel bored during lectures or while studying. I want to stay fully focused on my studies
those are good!
i have a couple recommendations:
- use browser extensions.
to hide the distracting elements of youtube and other platforms:
- "unhook" (specifically for youtube) or
- "social focus" (for youtube, facebook, and also other platforms)
to limit and/or block your access to these platforms:
- "leechblock ng"
- keep a piece of paper and a pen or pencil next to you. whenever you get a distracting thought, write it down on a list. then once you're done studying, you can look at what's on your list and decide what to do with it.
this can help with stronger distracting urges, because physically writing things down is often the best way to get things out of your head. if it is important, then you know you've got it down somewhere and you can refer back to it. i think even just the friction of having to pick up a pen or pencil and thinking of writing it down can help you to immediately realise if it's important or not
how long can you usually study for before you get bored?
Hey! Is there any music bot in this server
I don't have a specific time, but usually I don't spend more than 50 minutes on one session. I usually take breaks and then get back to studying. This works fine for me, but as I said, I believe I could spend much more time if I could focus without these interruptions.
Thank you, I started using your suggestions
no worries, i hope they help! good luck :)
I am developing a kind of curiosity for studying that helps me
Do you mean that you’ve begun to enjoy studying more?
Yeah
I think this helps me too, but sometimes I have to study things I’m not that into.
Well actually
In fact, the subject I was studying
Was not something I wanted to study
Something that I had hatred for before
But then at some point I changed my mind
Saw it all as some kind of interesting challenge
I think that helped me
So you've accepted even the subjects you don't like?
Yeah
Oh wait I didn't notice you were the OP
What do you wanna do in your free time?
Or do you just wanna study the whole time?
Because in my free time I used to do activities that make me want more and more
So my mind used to get plagued with thoughts of wanting it because it gives me more dopamine
That’s actually a good idea. I’ll try to train my brain to accept what I’m studying, even if I don’t really like it
I mean study time
I want to make full use of it without wasting any time
well, you didn't get what I mean but yeah
Curiosity and the right perception of it
Gets me through studying
Yeah, I get it now you mean changing how I see the subject, not just forcing myself to study?
Hm, I would never consider force
Might lead to burnout
but when studying starts to feel draining, how do you deal with it without forcing yourself?
Notice if you actually have burnout
If I get burnout then I occupy myself with a small break
If I do take small breaks, it's to stretch my body(for splits)
Other than that, if you mean that you feel like you wanna do something new
Like once, my brain wanted me to install this app
I resisted the temporary feeling and maintained focus
yeah i get it
thank you so much for your help!
the source
That’s true. I just want to make sure it doesn’t interfere with my study sessions, especially when I’m trying to stay focused
hi guys i have a small problem with this website i am trying to make i don't know why like the quotation mark at the bottom of the screen is like not in the qoute box but as the animation continues it enters into the qoute box.

Try to start preparing for exams a few days in advance. Try to understand your lectures / lessons during or after them, so you need to learn less before the exams. The best approach is to learn throughout the semester, then review everything and solve lots of problems, so you won't feel stuck during your exams. The most important things are understanding and planning. At least it works for me, since if I have a choice, I would learn the thing in advance.
Hey is there anyone proficient in using solidworks? I'm struggling on making two parts for my project, im a total noob, would love some help 🙏
Hi everyone,
I’m conducting a short survey for my coursework/research project and would really appreciate your help.
The form takes about 2–3 minutes, and all responses are anonymous.
Thank you for your time — I truly appreciate it!

so, maybe im overthinking it too much but i feel like i can find some kind of meta for studying or smt. The general advice i need is that i dont really understand should i push myself onto studying more than my body can manage. I can study for 5 hours and then i usually go to sleep and study for another 5 hours and i like this kind of cycle but i wanna be able to sit through the whole james scholz vod. Its not that i cant sit through it its about the quality of work cuz after 5h i can continue but im like not concentrated at all and the only thing i can do is smt that doesnt really require focus but i wanna be focused at 10h mark as well as at 5h
Hi guys, when does James start streaming again. There was an anouncement, but i am just confused cuz i cant see any streams on his channels
I honestly think that 2 sessions (5h each) separately with a nap in (your current approach) between works best. Pushing yourself just to meet that 10h is only gonna be a recipe for burnt out in the long run, at least in my experience.
A nap recharges you and helps you remember stuff better.
You still can try though, but maybe after a 5h session do a light task then switch back to the heavy one for the remaining hours. But personally this doesn't work for me as my energy is definitely gonna dip.
yeh and i think i've seen james do art in his sessions a couple of times so if your solely cramming, i think your 5hr sessions are perfect @noble crystal
Hey i have been trying to learn a new programming language as i have a lot of time in hand but the will to do is dying in me.i have been staying at home from the past few months any tips/help would be appreciated🙏
Hi gangg, I have 18 days of Christmas break. Any advice on how I can balance my time with studying and preparing for College Entrance Tests and applications? Currently in my junior year of high school. Grade 11 in the Philippines. (STEM student btw)
hello hello, well i am no pro but, what ive been doing for the past 2 years is that, ive been making todo list and ive been crushing them, so if i were in your shoes, where i have 18 days, id say study the portions in 10 days, yes its not gonna be easy but possible, study 8hrs a day, from 9am to 1 pm, then again from 3pm to 7pm, then you can reward yourself, but make sure you cover everything in 10 days and use the rest 8 days for constant revision and relearning weak topics, if you ever mess up in this 10 days, you have this 8 days in which 2 days can be used as buffer, good luck 🙂
Does anyone here also have ADHD? If so, do you use Forest? What time intervals do you recommend?
you made it?
reminds me of radiohead
thanks
Its so beautiful omg
does anybody have a good basic, sample layout or structure for an internship report that is generally accepted by worldwide universities' standards? if u do, pls share! TIA! 🙂

what do you have the height of the box set to?
Additionally, what kind of display does the bottom quote have? You might need to change it to something you can manually set instead of flow if you want to keep it in place.
hello, anyone have autodesk inventor, fusion 360 or any others tools possible to change .stl model scale?
Hey guys 👋
I’m Sid, a med student doing a small research study on gaming & motivation among students.
I made a quick anonymous form (takes ~3 minutes) and I’d really appreciate honest responses ...
If you’ve ever gamed, this is literally about you.
Thanks 🙌
Woah! Would you be ok sending the research paper when you're done? I'd love to read about this!
hello, anyone have autodesk inventor, fusion 360 or any others tools possible to change .stl model scale?
Sure i would love to..but it's gonna take time probably end of feb..
coolio! wishing you a good research!
heyy, i was wondering if someone could help me with this one problem ive been facing recently
so i basically get restless at times. even during exams, i have the urge to like, start running...? in short, i just cant get into that 'zen' state of mind in which i can actually focus. And i have the attnetion span of a goldfish. What do i do to fix this? once i get into the flow state, its easy to study. But to get into that flow state is a task itself. Wheather it's in the examination hall or like while studying... do i sound insane? idk, can someone help?
For dealing with similar things here are a few mental tricks that work for me.
Rather than focus on doing an entire session of reading, or an entire homework, I narrow my focus to reading the first couple of sentences or writing the first sentence or two. Doing that is pretty easy and once I get going I can keep going.
If im really really distracted by something I want to do i tell myself, okay ill do that but later on. I don't suppress the urge, I just switch the order im gonna do it in to after I do some other things.
I set a timer. Sometimes doing something can seem boring or tedious, but if I only give myself 10-15 minutes to complete it it seems more interesting and challenging. Even if I dont succeed I get better focus during that time.
Or i just close my eyes and feel my breath. I don't resist any thoughts, but also dont interact with them. Let them sit there and feel my breath flowing for a minute or two. It clears my thoughts and I feel more energetic afterwards.
That sounds like something that could really help. Thanks a LOTTTTTTTT!!! needed that cuz it's my final's week soon
Thank you once again!! Ill definitely try those.
IS THAT DOHWA IN YOUR PFP
FROM OPERATION TRUE LOVE
hello
I am stuck. i cant start studying i dont know what to do , where to start , how to study efficiently.
i really need help, if someone went thru these starting phases of studying i need your help.
i have to learn how to organize what to study , to make a plan for studying essentially . Cus i am spending my days doing nothing and im feeling guilty about it and i regret it but i want to change, i want to start but i dont know where and i dont know how. Most of the subjects are hard to learn and i need someone to explain it to me. I am in some serious problems.
Pick one task at a time and work on it do that daily in a week you will see the progress don't take too much target which you won't be able to complete and prioritize all the subject
YEYSYYDGESSSSSS
FOREVER TEAM DOHWA (SU AE CAN HAVE EUNHYUK, dohwa is mine.)
Alright let's go through this step by step.
1. Mindset.
The more you feel guilty about not being able to study the harder its going to be. Learning how to study well is a continuous process and you did good asking for help. Keep at it, and keep adapting, its ok if stuff isn't working right away.
2. Organising
Organising is split into 2 parts:
- What do you need to know? (Purpose of learning)
- How much time can you spend to know it? (Schedule of learning)
What do you need to know? (Purpose of learning)
For the first one, you can use the syllabus and rubrics provided to you by school. Most syllabus describe what you need in learning objectives. Put that learning objective on top and ask yourself questions, what do you need to know to achieve the is objective.
For Example: LO1: Describe the workings of an animal cell
You can split it into:
What is an animal cell?
What parts make up an animal cell?
What does each part do?
How do they connect with each other?
Some questions will be easier to ask and answer than others, and learning how to ask them makes it easier to be curious and search for more information.
You will not always have the luxury though, so you can also use questions in workbooks and textbooks to lead your studies. Answering this question becomes your task, and you can now skim through your books and papers to try and answer it.
Look beyond the resources you are given, everytime you reach a roadblock and can't understand, look at a resource a level below what you are learning. In the beginning it will feel like you are looking up almost every word and its going to be difficult, but that is fine, you will eventually get better.
How much time can you spend to know it? (Schedule of learning)
Then comes the scheduling. From what you have written, I am assuming it's been a bit since you were studying. So start off small.
Pick any subject of your choice and have a deadline. If you are not doing this through school, give yourself a deadline.
Set a day or more to create your learning curriculum. Syllabus for most subjects are available online so you don't have to create stuff from scratch. These will lead your studying. You can come back and improve this curriculum every time you hit a wall when it comes to studying.
Each day set a time to study it. Start with an hour a day, then two, and keep increasing. Techniques like pomodoro are really helpful here, make sure to take breaks and stay hydrated for optimal studying.
Know that no matter how much you like a subject, studying can be boring and difficult. But stick to it. If you find you are having too much trouble with that, look into better resources or train your attention.
And go slow, even if you have to go sentence by sentence that is ok. Learning takes time, so give it time.
Thank you for kind words and encouragement . I will start today with math because that is what i need to study the most. and organizing my time will be hard but i will try to do it. I have 2 questions .
-
what exactly is a syllabus (it not a known word for me lol), is like a summary of the subject im learning :??
-
How train my attention ( like are there any guides or something i can read about attention to help me fix and improve mine) . i kinda have a problem with getting deep into learning usually when im stuck at something i cant focus enough on the subject to understand it, my mind would just turn off and i would auto do something else like pick up a phone or turn on youtube on pc or discord, and even when i turn them off i would find myself unable to focus. Is there anything that i can read that would help me with fixing it ? or does time heal it, the more i study the easier it goes.
again thank you !
anyone who wanna study today
I'm really struggling to have any motivation to do any work, espically college apps. I'm not really sure how to get past that lack on motivation. I just keep stressing myself out by not doing it.
heyy, I get you I struggle with the same thing.😔For me it helps to make a structure of stuff I have to do and maybe do a little task. Even if it s like 2 minutes of doing a task, it s a start and it s better than nothing.
Maybe it ll help to set a time where you can try and do some work. Don t look at all the work you have to do, try and dissect it and start small (for example if you have to study for multiple classes, try and start with one and do the first lecture and then take a break).
For me it also helps to do activities I enjoy which motivates me to do other stuff as well. Maybe do something you like after getting a bit of work done.
I know how hard it is to get past that feeling of unmotivation but It s important to take that step :). Unfortunately we won’t always be motivated so It s good to learn how to do work even if you re not that eager to do it. It s good to take even the tiniest step forward than stressing yourself out that you didn’t do anything yk. Take it easy on yourself :]]
Idk if this helps but yeah. If anybody else has advice on this I d be glad to hear it
Maybe try to time yourself. Putting a time challenge on getting the thing done can be more interesting
I'm struggling with focus a lot. Idk, i might have adhd, tho i dont think so
I get distracted easily
And i REALLY need to study
What am i supposed to do?
I was the same. What worked for me at the start was that I would set a timer of like 45 minutes and no matter what happens around me, I would not let myself off until the time is done. Try to set something you would not want to be associated with at all and think that if I get distracted, I am done. Like I hated doing squats, so I would just make it a goal that if I don't make it for the whole 45 minutes, I'll do squats. After one or two sessions, I could see the focus build again.
Also you have to cut down any distractions, if not abruptly, then slowly
guys anyone from bioinformatics here... I need help with protein motif designing.. I have done MSA already... now i need to design the conserved domains .. I might sound confusing because I am...

can you find the love of my life?
you are the love of your life
how to lock in
I use a personal playlist and listen to it before studying. Makes me lock in automatically - kind of a ritualistic playlist
hey any1 know how can i crack office 😭 i dont have word or any other office programs in this pc....
does anyone have the problem that when you are procrastinating something really important you plan to self study something else or like write notes of another subject that you don't have to worry about in like a month and then you get nowhere with anything bc its never the right time so like then you get actually distracted and watch yt and play a game or something because you just don't know what to do lol its so bad now I have to do a semesters worth of work in like 3 days which happened to me with another class so stupid
how to fix this problem like im about to probably lock in in and hour and do the actually important thing ive been procrastinating but like i do not want this to happen again lol
new classes are starting on monday and the work for this one class is due by monday (which I am sure ill finish lol) but like I do not want to go through the same thing again because the class that has the stuff due now continues after too (its like a dual semester thing) so like what if I procrastinate that class again like I CAN'T lol i know im going to want to self study this other thing that i am not even taking currently so like aaaa i have tried checklists and planners and pomodoro it works sometimes but like most of the time no
Guys why I feel so bored when I study I cannot study for 3 hours in a day what I should to do any advice please???🙏
i need help i want to study 10Hours or 8 hours but i can't it's hard
You should try tracking your time...like other than studying, on what things you are spending your time on. If you don't even know where your time is going then you can't change it.
this might not be the most eco-friendly option, but you simulate a conversation with chat?
or use feynman technique
make a youtube video explaing the concepts
you will be suprised how many gaps there actually are in our knowledge
hiii did james upload a video in the past 2 weeks? i dont wanna open yt to check. a link would be highly appreciated!
nope
ill look into the feynman, and with chatgbt idk ive never really tried to do that but i get it could be good for reenforcing concepts and stuff... i honestly think once i finish all the assignments for this class ill have alot more free time even with the new classes
ok yeah i just saw what the feynman was and i can see how chat can be useful
My all time on gaming 🙂
What I should do??
you will be bored when you spend all your time doing instant gratification and suddenly have to do something that isn't gratifying
there's no way around it: get used to being bored, and learn to focus while being bored
just finished 2 long pomodoros and saw this im going back ty.
Then you should play games nonstop till you feel like done or shit... maybe something will click automatically... I'm serious, you should try to play nonstop.
You can try this, there's no harm.
Hi, do you know if James' planner is also valid for the year 2026?
Hello
Fck
How do I study?
Like genuinely
I got finals in 3-4 months which gonna decide my whole life path
Still I m not studying
I know what I m doing wrong and how can I make it right but still
I m not studying
I got while 7 book syllabus left to read
I can cover it but I m not gonna do that cuz I jst don't study
Y I don't study u say ,cuz I m a fuging piece of shit
Yea that's all my yapping . Fckggggggg I gotta studyyyyyyyy😭😭
so
i have this very hyperspecific method
of gaslighting myself to think i’m a character in a wuxia novel that’s studying to increase their qi 🥀
also studying with a timer in the bg helps a lot
i’ve had the same problem to
*bro
i’m locking in now though
Is there a good **free **pomodoro app? Using my phone timer is working but it would be nice to have a designated app for it. Im seeing too many paywalls and premium memberships.
Idk about pomodoro.. but i use flip , it has built in timer and stopwatch and u can customize ur study sessions and break time
fight or flight.
start bro the pain of doing nothing will always outweigh the pain of doing something
how far is your cultivation
i've added caligraphy and practicing the dizi to my routine 😭
i think giving up is the issue
try not giving up
that sounds stupid, but it's true that the hardest part about starting a study session is the beginning where you have to overcome the hurdle of "okay, now i have to study"
once you get past the initial resistance, the rest of the study session feels easier
giving up after 2 minutes is like immediately flaking out
for some people, it might take 5, 10, 20 minutes to finally get over the "ugh i hate studying" feeling
you need discipline to stick with it and get through it
the time of this study-resistance also depends upon the subject that one studies - if its something hard/boring then that time might, as you said, take longer for one to overcome
im not able to concentrate on one subjectt yaawrr
its like im in middle of it
then i realise the other thing is messed up as well
and then i go to that sub
time goes and i feel miserable that i didnt complete anything
even if u get that temptation to do something else in the middle don't
Keep the books of that other subject somewhere else, out of sight out of mind
Then keep a timer for how long you're gonna do this current topic and give your 100%. It's ok if you don't complete everything perfect but atleast complete it
Then move onto the other subj
I had this problem too but doing this helped me, hope it helps you too
yeahh .. ok thanksss... imma try
holy f
what is this
ankiii
so real bro
what is ankii
anki is a flashcard app
idk what u study
but it's a must for most subjects

ohh ill search it up
no. it's a flashcard spaced repetition software, though the add-on essentially function as a tracker.
dawg how do i keep focus high for 4+ hours
in one session?
or spaced 60/10
takes practice
Just curious, i'm starting as a freshman in a few days and recently got my self a book note air 2 and have been trying to familiarize myself with it, does anyone have any tips if I should just use seperate notebooks for different classes or somehow make folders first then add in notes?
i don’t own the same e-ink tablet, but i use a rm2. i set up folders first, then create notebooks as needed
You should ask your professors if they require you to keep a notebook in class because some dont like it if they see devices open for notetaking. The rest you could make folders for
I want to study 8 hours what I should to do I only can do 2:45 hour then I get bored and I need to do it this 3day what shall I do!!!!!
Should I force myself?? Until I get used to it?
if there is any cbse board student here (12th or passout preferred) then can you please contact me? i need some guidance.
You'll just burn out this way , try 3hr keep adding 15 min every 2 days
I want help with YT. When I am free, I just open YT and start watching random videos and videos like reels. I am shocked to see where the time has gone, and then I feel guilty. On the other hand, I cannot completely quit YT because I want to see my study stuff, so I download all the study videos to my gallery and then watch them so that I can focus deeply on my studies. Is there any way to replace this habit or change it reach me out please?
Brother set a blocker and tell your mom to change the password
ok
block yt on phone ... juss apply private dns and it will be blocked instantly from app and browser too
use some other device for studying /// if desktop .. use unhook extension (block shorts , homefeed etcetc ) and black and white extension for yt ... cuz for me i like watching stoody videos in b/w ... cuz no colours--> no distraction
just turn off the history

Yoo anyjee student here rn
Pretty sure there's one of these at my work. I think I remember it being super small and not that comfortable. The 2.9 stars doesn't inspire confidence either.
guys i only can study for 3 hours i was 2 hours only but rn i can do 3 hours and i want to hit 8 hours what shold i do t many ppl say evrey day add more 10minute is that right? idk actually any advice please?
whats this?
Does your school or institution provide free office software ? Text your coordinator or teacher if there's an option to that
anyone else sometimes have this inner stress when learning, like all of a sudden you start to speed up the learning, even doe you have enough time
do you have your own ways to relax
does watching youtube count?
i mean you should watch yourself. watching youtube is a great distructor but i think you don't need a distructor. for exaple i like walking, i like drinking cofee in cold weather to relax
you should comminucuate with yourself.
do you do that during longer breaks?
well, if you need longer one yes
honestly, the time that you spend in algorithms would make you a number. but the time that you spend with yourself would make you a person. so 2 hours with yourself is litterally better than 10 minutes in algorithms.
But what exactly does 2 hours with yourself mean? Could you elaborate on that please
i mean if your mind is full of thoughts, don't plan a break. just do whatever is good for you. i mean people generally make themselves a performative object but i think is's wrong. you are not just a student or something. i just said spend time with yourself to relax, think what you need, what's your ways to relax. and you are talking about breaks. no. i mean if you need time you should give yourself time even if it doesnt't take 10 min
i'm sorry if you're comfused, i am not a good speaker in english, i know
No need to apologise, i understand what you mean and it makes sense. We are not just preformative objects, i need to relax my mind, thank you ❤️
you're welcomr
everything is mindset
if he has high self-efficacy, he's chillin
I agree with you till some point but not everyhing is mindset , if you sit on a chair for 8 hours , you cannt run a 240mile marathon the next day , foucs needs intensity not more time , refer to james vid for more
He studies for 2 hour 45 mins he cannot jump to 8 in a day
if you've been training for such events, u could
a physical pursuit is kinda a stretch when compared to an intellectual pursuit, with regard to the person's level of training
most people can't jump
i wouldn't use definitive statements
i can frfr (i have no choice)
It's been so long since i ve not studied.. I brainrot a lot and i feel that my focus and motivation are completely off... Does someone has any advice ? Does someone feel the same ?
When I was pumping up my study time I would do something like 20% more study time than the previous day. So if I was doing 30 minutes one day, id do 36 the next, then 43 after that.
Took about 2 weeks to reach my goal or so. And the jump wasnt bad, it was basically the same as the previous day.
There's also the world famous method: stop thinking, just do it. Sometimes this is surprisingly effective for getting stuff done. Like asking out someone you have a crush on.
The real advice @void hemlock
How do I start studying for the ACT?
so i need only to add more 5 minute or 10 minute evreyday right?
hey, I want to give IPMAT exam, need some guidance, is anybody their planning to give IPMAT?
What i did was 20% more. 5-10 more would be a different strategy
push yourself to 10 hours one day and youll see 8 hours doesnt feel that bad as it sounds
thinking about online learning structure...
got into my top uni for computer science and i’m still deciding what to get tech and room wise, biggest thing i need to decide is my laptop
also how do you guys find like cool retro tech and that kind of stuff that james has a lot of
i’m lowk still tempted by the fw12 despite the reviews not being amazing
i'd recommend checking your course requirements, but i think it generally won't be that strict for cs
online platforms (fb marketplace, ebay, etc), op (thrift) shops, flea markets, e-waste stores and so on. depending on where you live, importing might also be a cheaper and/or less time consuming alternative
Whats your actual degree , programming, system design, networking
?
it’s literally just computer science, any specialisation you do later in the degree
US?
uk
I meant to ask what do you plan on doing?
If you want a solid battery and performance, m1 max
Macs are going for 700 to 800 pounds and you can get a 1100 pound m2 max from ebay with good specs
honestly not sure, probably either security or systems and networks but idk really
Thats a cool major bro , i want to do that to! Best of luck
good luck to you too!
Where is introduction channel
I just want to rant a little, I don't know if this is the right place but I have been stuck for a long time. It seems I'm just lazy, wasting time, and not trying hard enough. Every vacation, I promise myself, I'll get back on track, get better and improve myself but I fail every single time. In the beginning I actually feel like I can do it but in the end, its always the same. I complete nothing at all. I got back my first semester grades and I got 7 GPA. I thought I'd do my best, get good grades but I ended up just like in school. I couldn't do even one thing I promised. I have failed myself every single time. Everyone else is getting better, improving themselves, even my brother, he's the best at everything he does, but here I am, being a failure and nothing more. People are managing everything in their life, but I can't even get one thing right. I really mean it when I say I'll do better next time, I make plans but I don't remember following even one of those. I got diagnosed with ADHD, but idk how much of this is actually adhd and not me being the worst at everything. I just want to get even one thing in my life right. ONe thing that I can be proud of, but there is none. I've failed my parents every single time. I never work on things even when I like them. My interests just end up being another failure that keep on stacking.
Every single time, I promise everyone, I'll do my best, get the things done, but I always end up apologising and saying I'll do better next time, but that next time never comes. Haven't achieved anything till now. I've wasted all these years doing nothing. I feel like a disappointment whenever I'm with my parents. I'm ashamed to tell them my grades. I haven't yet it has been almost 2-3 weeks, I can't even face them. I've never done anything to make them proud, even when they get satisfied with small things. Even then I'm not able to do anything for them. I still feel like I might be broken. Maybe I’m just weak. Maybe I’m making excuses. That thought hurts more than anything. All my interests ultimately end up being another failure I can't discuss. I joined this server, thinking I would share my screen while working, be more accountable, but I never did that. I failed even myself. I just make new plans that I know I won't be able to accomplish. I have no friends because I struggle to keep even one friendship lasting. I don't go anywhere because I got work, but I don't even do that I have got nothing going on in my life, I have ruined everything I don't even know how to move forward if I can't even stand. sorry for the rant
I feel relatable to your situation and sorry that you're going through this. I'm not someone that's very disciplined either who can study like 10 hours a day, max I can do is just 5 hours and I already feel so tired. But you shouldn't be so harsh on yourself, you have adhd and indeed sometimes you gotta acknowledge the struggle is way more than the average neurotypical. Since we can't change the past why not try focusing on the present? How about just promise yourself to stay accountable today, joining one of the study calls and sharing your screen, even for just an hour?
Tbh I noticed most of the time the winners are more action-focused, they don't care about what outcome or grades they're gonna get. They find out what's not working and keep tweaking it until they achieve their goals. Personally I think you should detach your self-worth from grades, because you are way more than your grades and achievements. You're an individual with a unique personality and skillset, so it's not really fair to expect yourself to be like others. I know it's easy to be said then done but all I can say is focus on what you can do now instead.
About friendships, it's hard to maintain if one person is doing all the work. People grow, circumstances change, even if you try your best to maintain it when they wanna go they're gonna go. Plus with all this loneliness epidemic going on, it's kinda normal to have little to no friends these days. Be open, but you don't have to force friendships if it's not there.
I really hope things can get better for you, but only if you believe it will and start acting on it. Good luck. 🍀
science says negative energy means more stability..
but life says negative energy destroys stability...
how is science contradicting life ?
different ontological level mate
cant reduce a second order ontological question to a first level ontological question
went a metre above my head
there is a difference between biological/chemical properties and physical ones, no?
you would say that X implies Y and Y implies X, meaning X and Y are equivalent to one another, but on what grounds? because we "denote" the same "object"/"idea"?
negative energy can denote entropy, but negative energy can also denote bad influence of a loved one
does that mean "negative energy" is the same in both cases?
to refer and the referent are different things, so are the properties X and Y they are constituted by

I am really stressed
Thank you, really. It genuinely means a lot. I really appreciate u taking time and writing all that.
At the start of last semester I actually did attend all my classes, but I’d keep zoning out or missing parts, and even when I understood something in class, it wouldn’t really stay with me later. That’s why I tried switching to studying on my own, but then I’d get distracted by new things and end up jumping between topics instead of finishing anything.
I joined this server thinking I'd attend the study calls and get more serious with my work, but I never did. I just kept saying I'll do it tomorrow. There are people in my life who really depend on me doing well, and I don’t want to keep letting myself, or them, down.
So I’m going to start from today. I’ll join a call and at least get something done
Thank you for being understanding
I relate to you somewhat, I had a period where a lot of bad stuff was going wrong for me and I felt like I couldn't live up to the standards I set for myself. When I tried to fix 1-2 things I was criticized for the 7-8 other things I wasnt working on that also needed to be fixed.
No matter how bad things get you should never give up on yourself or think badly of yourself. If things go wrong, there was an issue with how you acted or the steps you took that is fixable, and its something you can learn from.
Negative feelings are not in you to hurt you, they are there to help you. They are meant to say: this situation isn't as good as it could be, make a change and improve things. Try something new, analyze the situation and think of new ways to overcome it, ask for help. Things get much worse when people take these feelings and go in some other direction: like thinking they are the problem not the situation/actions, or thinking the feelings are the problem and trying to avoid them rather than improving the situation.
You see the issue and are looking to change it and improve. You have all the right ingredients for a big success.
Some things that might help you are to put yourself in a new environment when you try to make a change to your behavior. Don't try to study in a place where you have a habit of being distracted, like say your room. Stay after school in the computer lab, library or the tutorial center. Try to make studying tbe most interesting thing in that environment, don't take things with you that will call for your attention.
When youre studying, don't think about the task you need to do, focus on the first step you need to make. Like read the first sentence in the textbook you need to study, or write the first sentence down in your essay. Getting started is the hardest part of studying, and inertia will help to keep you going after you start. Even if you stop, you can start back up again.
It's just that I can't stop myself from thing that fixing things takes time, and I'm already behind everyone else.
but I'm doing it little by little
sometimes I get too engaged in one thing, but it's not useful when we look at grades
Thanks a lot! I did that today
I got 2 hours of work done till now, will be working more
U guys really are amazing and I'll try my best
I'll keep posting how much I work everyday
is there a channel for that?
Hello everyone, I’m looking for a new office chair that’s ideal for long time studying. Does anyone have any suggestions?
You can try to post in #to-do-lists
And good luck
oh okay Thanks bro!
I am having problems with remembering formula and concepts for physics
I do A2 level CAIE
any tips?
Solve as many problems as possible because the best way to memorise formulas (esp in physics and maths) is if you actually write them down and use them! It will register in your long term memory that way, and it becomes a reflex :)
alright
thank you
what about concepts
same do more questions
For concepts, I always find it easier when I try to understand them rather than try to jam everything in my brain at once. Once you understand, it becomes easier to grasp concepts ♡
Though if you’re running low on time, my go to method is to read it 10 times, say it 10 times, and write it 2 times. Found that on tumblr once and never went back 😭
understanding is not difficult
I just forget them
hmm wait
I used to always memories things that way
then stopped it because it felt too much work
It really does work! You should try it at least for the “harder to grasp” concepts
sure alright
gotta try hard these 3 months
I need to get into some decent university 😭
Hello. I'm going to get straight to the point. I used to be able to study for very long hours and push through exhaustion to reach my study goals and get all my work done. But after a 2 week term break of on studying (due to personal issues), I've come back with a block. I can't seem to focus for long periods of time. I have very dilatory habits and I keep getting distracted and pulled into long conversations or just zoning out. I can't have this behavior continue as I have a lot of exams coming up next week so I need a quick and immediate fix. My schedule is also jam-packed with extracurriculurs so I really struggle with that. I don't have any flexible activities and my only stress buster is pretty much the hour of going out with my friends after school (we sometimes bunk negotiable ECs to run off for a stress-bust). Any advice?
I hope you get there! I believe in you ♡
thx
Have you watched penrose before? He suggests that if you are escaping from study it's probably because your mind links it to something negative, e.g being exhausted, or wasting your time as you don't get a good grade. He really emphasises meditation and I suggest you try it out. Is it possible for you to wake up really early and start revising then?
Does anyone have any tips for time management or organisation? Im doing a few subjects but i also wanna learn stuff for myself but i feel like i have no time in the day to do everyhing. even vids will be a great help tytyty
I could try. Thank you for the advice.
Time blocking is definitely something you should try out.
How do I take notes when reading the introduction to algorithms by Thomas Cormen?
I usually avoid taking notes thinking I understood but I end up forgetting so I'll be forcing myself to take notes from now on, but what do I write down?
Any time they define a new word or algorithm, you should try to type up the definition without looking at the book. Check if you got it. If you get it wrong do it again until you typed up an accurate definition.
oh okay, will try that.
thanks!
YEAH
After 2 hours of strong studying/working on assignments, I feel I hit a block and cannot retain focus for longer than 30 minutes at a time after. Could anyone help provide some advice so I can study for longer and finish all my assignments without losing focus after that 2 hour timeframe?
A lot of people recommend to get up and walk around, or even close your eyes and do some meditative breathing every 30 minutes or so. Especially on a long study session. When you start doing like 5-9 hours in a row, and you don't do that, your eyes will literally get all red and start to hurt to use (trust me I know).
Well either that or close your eyes and think about what you've read/worked on in your head for a few minutes every so often.
Getting blood flowing with walking is really nice though. If you ever watch professional chess players in classical matches, they will get up and walk around on the opponents move for that reason. And these grandmasters have top tier focus.
our first lecture on C language (yesterday) was about pointers and linked lists. That's till 17th chapter of the book I'm using for C. We'll be having a quiz on tuesday, how am I supposed to complete 17 chapters while managing other subjects? Is this what the prof meant when he said we'll have to learn the language ourselves?
The quiz is likely only on pointers and LLs dont stress.
TJ devries has a decent youtube video on C memory management I would recommend but its like 5 hrs long.
I take 20-30 min nap after 4-5 hours with an eye mask. You dont actually need to fall asleep, just force yourself to not think about anything. It sounds corny but I visualize myself taking a walk at the park and focus on my feet steping in between the cracks of the side walk. It helps clear my hear of distractions really well.
Ive been doing this almost everyday for a very long time and it really works. Atleast for me.
but I don't even know the syntax and how to write a code in C properly but I'll try to finish whatevr I can and the lecture notes
ohh yeah I do remember seeing that on my youtube recommendation, will watch that fs thanks!
Guys i need help i am trying to study but i just cannot, i get zoned out or get distracted, any suggestions?
do u think it possible to complete each chapter of class 12 mpc in 1 day each lesson
nice name
meditation before, practice bringing your focus back onto whatever youre focusing on repeatedly
also, try to catch yourself getting distracted and bringing urself back into focus
its sounds kind of obvious, but the more you do it, the more youll focus on whatever your work is
try it
does anyone know how to do practice questions or exam papers most effectively?
there is 2 things i do
1- if i have time
i do for example study topic 1 and search for its related questions in at least the last five exams
and do this after studying every topic
And the other thing is just i study all the topics and then start solving the exams normally ig
hey should i get a degree in math , i m intrested in math but idk how much i m intrested but the things that i learned in high school are pretty chill and i enjoy them , i dont want to be 2 yrs in a program and be reconsidering my life choices :p
maybe this is an unusual bit of advice, but maybe you could check out some curriculums for that degree? especially from universities that you plan on applying to. i think it'll help you get a clearer picture of what you're actually gonna be studying and see if that aligns with your interests.
when it comes to declaring a major, i'd recommend speaking to department advisors, college advisors, and people on the university's subreddit
beyond asking particular people, if i were in your position, i would probably enter undeclared and then just take some math courses and see how i enjoy them.
look into the different modules also and see if they are things that are interesting and you would want to learn
^ this too
Could everyone give me some advice? I’ve just broken up with my girlfriend. I’m an extremely introverted person and tend to be emotionally dependent on my partner, so after the breakup, I honestly have no motivation to do anything—not even to eat. I also have an important exam at the end of this month. How can I get through this difficult period?
This topic might be outside the scope of the group, but I truly need some advice right now.
Are you at school or at college? My #1 tip is NOT to study at home. Archive or delete the chats / or whatever social media posts. Don't listen to sad break up songs (for now) before the exam period.
Head to the common area / library. Accept that it may at some point affect your focus and grades a little, but don't let it stop you from doing what you need to do.
Spend an hour or two after studying to journal or (cry a little with time limit), dump whatever feelings you have. Write what lessons you learn from the relationship.
If you can, schedule appointments with school counsellor / mentor or talk to some available mental health hotlines. It's normal to feel sad and painful over this loss, but day by day the effect will reduce. When you still have free time, go hit the gym and maybe you can make some gym bro friends. Remember, better days and better ones are coming, you can heal from this. Stay strong!
I really appreciate your advice. To be honest, I don’t have many friends—only one or two—but they are currently quite far away from me (I’m studying abroad in China). My roommate is also on holiday right now, so I’m basically on my own.
And most public places (such as libraries and cafés) are quite far from where I live, and I can’t take my PC there to study for my exams.
Not even school library? Well if that's the case you can join the server rooms to study here though to keep you accountable. I know the thoughts will keep popping up, when they do, tell yourself : "I'm having a thought about them again, it's normal because I'm going through a breakup" then get back to what you're doing at the moment. Remember thoughts don't mean anything. It doesn't mean you must go back to them. Eat a little and sleep on time even if you don't feel like it. I hope you can move on eventually, and all the best in your exam.
Breaking up is a bit like withdrawal. You will constantly be flooded with thoughts about what you are quitting. It helps to think about other things and focus your attention on other stuff while going through that, to do a lot of activities youve been putting off. Eventually that becomes natural and you don't have to try.
Hello to all, I was just wondering if anyone could give me any good ideas on any side hustles or anything I could start doing to generate more money, right now I’m a high school drop out, I work at McDonald’s but they are starting to cut my hours, I also wanna quit McDonald’s so if anyone has any job recommendations i am all ears
Hello, I'm Mim from Bangladesh. I graduated from doing my bachelors in CS in December 2024. However In mid 2025 I decided to switch from a corporate job to academia as my interest grew in Computational Neuroscience. Ik this is random but anyone doing research around computational neuroscience here? If yes, I would love to connect and chat.
hello, im through my second week of classes as a freshman student for cybersecurity. I'm trying to get a good grasp at staying organized throughout my 5 classes. I originally started on digital eink taking notes however moved this week into pen & paper to see if I was able to be a little neater and organized but I'm curious if anyone has any good reccomendations for being organized with assignments/notebooks and notetaking. I'm using a template excel sheet i found for organizing my classes/hw which seems to be nice just curious if thers any tips! thank you :)
Hi, so I orginally tried an eink tablet, however, abandoned it because it did not truly feel like writing on paper. What helped me stay organized for in-person classes was for each class I would place all my notes (lecture and txtbook) into a binder. One binder per class. That way everything was altogether in one spot, and I could physcially flip through the pages. For assignments, I would use google drive and have one folder per class and all my assignments would go into their respective folders. Keeping my assignments and notes seperate was helpful.
Hi everyone! does anybody have tips on time management? I am taking 3 online classes this semester which requires a solid amont of reading, watching lectures, and completing assignments (discussion boards, and mini quizzes, projects). I know I will have to stay on top of it all, but I am a little worried I will slip.
question: how do you declutter your papers at the end of the semester? what do you keep and what do you throw out?
my "tip" for ol classes is to probably set some sort of schedule for yourself and to not stress about doing said schedule perfectly (learn from my mistakes, lol).
when i had ol classes, i would always think that i had "more time" bc i didn't need to get ready for school the same way i needed to for f2f classes (commute times, in person lectures/assessments, etc.). in the end, i used that time unproductively (doom scrolling and the like, not even hobbies that would've helped me properly rest and fuel me creatively), and my days blended together since i never kept myself accountable for the stuff i was supposed to be doing. i actually crammed and procrastinated more w/ ol classes, and i never actually took the time to "study."
i think i actually spent more time trying to find The Perfect time management system, w/c was obvs just another way to procrastinate. i tried so many apps, listed multiple routines, and watched a bunch of productivity ytubers that when it was finally time for me to do any actual work, i'd immediately berate myself for not doing things "right" or exactly how i scheduled them (and then spend half a day tweaking the system to try and fail the next day).
edit: i just realized that what i said wasn't actually a "tip" and i'm sorry for the long message, but i still hope it proves to be an insightful read!
This was honestly super insightful. Honestly I catch myself doing the same things sometimes and I really want to break this habit. One idea I have is to devote one day per class [3] and only work on the required work for that class. While I know this plan will not be perfect every week, I think it is a starting point. I also made an assignment tracker so that I dont miss an assignments.
All the scrap paper and "studying papers" such as the mind maps and repetitive brain dumps (active recall) I throw away. But the notes from lecture and the textbook I keep. Its a solid stack of paper but I have this one drawer that holds them all and are separated by dividers
def a good starting point! what works for one week (heck, maybe even one day) may not work for the next, learn and adjust as you go (something i'm trying to remember myself). oh, and thanks for answering my question :))
try reading atomic habits. Helped me a whole lot with building systems that work when in uni
or watch a video with the key exercises the book gives
if you're short on time
Hello guys
Ive been watching some of james scholz videos and was wondering if i can make videos like him , my main question is do I get copyright strike if i use samurai champloo ost , songs , nujabes beat in my video since i saw james use it in some of his vids
Would anyone be willing to view an essay I'm writing out for my computer science class? I'm a freshman for cybersecurity and haven't written an essay in quite a while but just want to make sure I'm within the topic and making clear points without using ai to get an idea if I'm on track
I wish I knew man. If you have some skills that could help other people i think you could find a hustle. Whether thats yard work, coaching something you have skill in, writing stuff for people, helping clean stuff up somewhere.
You might be able to find a government agency that will help you find a job too. Or if you have any older friends they might know some people who need an employee
How long is it? I might have some spare time today
dunno if this is the right place to post this, but do any of you know if we can link our google cal to the YPT study app??
https://www.reddit.com/r/Nujabes/comments/m9lcc7/is_nujabes_samurai_champloo_soundtrack_included/ I know reddit aint a credified source but probably yes you will get the strike
i can ask a friend if youre comfortable, hes great at critiquing essays
Absolutely thank you, it’s very very elementary. I’m entering my third week of freshman classes so I’m just anxious to make sure I’m on the right track
It’s around 250 ish words as of now, only needs to be 500 though so about a page of info!
.
Y'all... how effective are quizzlets seriously? I've got 4 and a half chapters (plus five lecture powerpoints) I need to read and review by wednesday and my monday+wednesday are already booked with classes, research labs, meetings, and interviews. I need to make sure I've got everything prepared by wednesday two hours before the exam for a final review and I dont know if cooking up a quizlet is effective enough.
For reference this is a third year class on child psychopathology
and ? got the answer?
hi, if anyone has had any experience in HOSA (specifically in post-secondary), please lmk because i'd love to chat and ask some questions! 🙂
What do u guys do when u wanna take a break? I usually watch youtube videos or play games, but I end up getting distracted most of the time
breathing fresh air
side outside for 15min
do nothing but just sit
ill bet its harder then sitting down to study
oh that's pretty hard for me, but I'll try for sure!
you can always start small, even just stepping outside for a brief moment could be beneficial
eventually if you keep doing it, 15 minutes might not seem so hard anymore
i’ve found that anything aside from continuing to sit at my desk can be helpful. i get up and move around, usually stretch, or i just wander around the house and play with my dog. if i need a longer break, then i go outside for a walk. if i can’t go outside for a walk due to bad weather or it’s already late, then i do a quick exercise inside, and i personally like planks :)
i typically use anki (which is what james uses) as opposed to quizlet because i like anki's spaced repetition function
i think quizlet is definitely usable though
I mostly end up doing something random without even realising it
but I'll make sure I don't do that from now on
what if u're still not ready to continue studying after a break?
depends on how long is the break
15 mins sometimes 30 min
do you use a timer when you study? i use a physical one, and it reminds me when i need to get back to studying. i always wear a watch as well, which helps me to be more aware of the time.
may i also ask why you wouldn't be ready? if you wait to "feel" until you're ready, then you never will be. i think it's simply a decision you make
dont go to youtube then man
dont like go to social media at all between study breaks it makes you overwhelmed
probably chatting but not watching videos and stuff yk
Anyone have any tips on not getting bored while notetaking/studying? Im in a weird pickle where the classes im taking this term in my degree are quite literally what I do at work (granted in a different jurisdiction) so im stuck in this mindset of "eh i know enough about this already why do i have to study this"
I use forest app
but sometimes I forget about it
I do try to just start studying, but sometimes I just cannot even if I try, feels like I do not understand whatever I'm studying
I try not to...
it's difficult sticking to one thing, even when I'm studying
but I've been controlling myself as much as I can
songs?
change up the strat! if u’re writing bullet points move into like a mind map kind of studying and connect all the things you are learning with all the things you know
the brain latches onto stories or messages that is personal to your life because of the emotional connection
so use ur job as an advantage when u’re studying
my exams are pretty near and i need to do really well this time but idkd i keep procastinating and like the anxiousness is consuming me now
i do study for like 3 hours maybe but then i take a break and then just dont study at all
😭 only i can help myself by sitting down and studying but the anxiousness and worry keeps getting to me
change your study methods, learn to be stuck, but also recognise when you need to ask for help. go to your lecturers and classmates, take advantage of any support services your institution might provide, and so on. if something isn't working, then change how you approach it
I have started studying in the library, I can study much better there
mostly it's really difficult to start studying
I notice sometimes I can't start studying but once I do, I actually like it
that's great to hear! it would probably be a good idea to go there whenever you can then
remove the barrier to starting by reducing or simplifying what you have to do. for example, if you don't feel like studying for an hour, then study for 30 minutes. if 30 minutes still seems long, then aim for 15 minutes. other examples could be telling yourself you'll only do 1 practice problem or just write 1 sentence.
try to reduce the thought of how overwhelming a task might seem. once you achieve whatever you set out to do, you can decide for yourself if you want to do more
Any study tips? I do active recall and write it in my own words, pomodoro. But i barely passed my last exam. How are you guys studying any tips
what do u do if your friends call u to play with them?
Most of my friends study at home, they can't study in library, that's what they say so they usually just play during breaks, when I try to study.
How do I say no to them without being rude...
Earlier I would start by watching a video on the topic I was going to study but that was a really bad idea I would end up watching something totally unrelated so I've been doing this, now I just try to force myself to start.
idk about songs bro but i like absolute silence lol
I try to go over all bold words, aka definitions, and theorems, or just random important stuff like pictures or algorithms. I make sure I can 'generate' them all accurately before moving on. Then before a test i review
you say no, and you say why: because you need to study. that’s it. you can schedule a different time to play together when you’re done studying
there are browser extensions (social focus, unhook, etc) that can block the distracting features on youtube. if you often need youtube for supplemental learning, then create a seperate account for studying or if you don’t, you can just stay signed out of it
How do you guys navigate long literature lists and make prioritizations?
Hey everyone,
I need some advice. I recently tried to study for 8 hours in one day (which is a lot for me — I usually study 4–6 hours). After that day, studying started to feel much harder, and now I can’t even focus for 2 hours without getting bored or distracted.
I’m not sure if I burned myself out that day, but I also noticed that I became more distracted by gaming. I’m trying to keep gaming only as a way to relax in my free time, not as a main focus. However, while studying, I keep thinking about it, which makes me anxious and unfocused.
This has been happening for the past 3–4 days, so I’m wondering if I’m just overthinking it and it’s normal for a few days before things go back to normal.
Has anyone experienced something like this? Any advice would really help.
Yes I experience the same too, I have exams in 9 days and its getting hard to focus on studies while im getting distracted by gaming
Guys, when learning to focus during long periods do you just have to keep doing it until it works?
Because I feel like im focused but at the same time it always feels like I make no progress
Honestly if you are having some distracting thoughts like that, just close your eyes, don't resist the thoughts, just breathe deeply and let them bounce around in your head until they settle down and go away while you focus on your breathing. Thoughts will only dwell in you if you keep thinking about them, whether its by planning to do the thing or trying to resist/deny the thing.
Another thing you can do is like.. abuse your inner laziness. Like 'Okay I'll definitely game, just a bit later on'. When is later on? Whenever that happens to be, just not right now.
Makes sense I’ll try that, Thank you
lf help with 3d print
I can't make a model ready for 3D printing, I've been trying for 5 hours now
Hi, could someone help me listing if my English is good?
Just a chill chat
On the chill room
if someone hasn't helped yet, im down to!
I can prolly help ya!
henlo, can i pm you later?
how do you guys get over a bad score/grade on smth you worked really hard for? it's not like i can't get over it, but i usually waste a day trying not to think about it (doomscrolling, binge-watching, etc.) before being productive again...
Working really hard doesn’t end until you achieve a realistic goal. Ie your subconscious mindset is “I studied” instead of “I’m gonna keep studying even after good OR bad grades”
honestly, it happens. shit happens
u worked hard and that a good thing
if you worked hard, that effort isn’t wasted. you didn’t just get a grade , you got knowledge, experience, and proof to yourself that you’re capable of putting in the work ,and grades aren’t always a fair scale of that.
it’s okay to take a short break and feel disappointed, but try not to stay stuck there , once the emotions calm down, it helps to look back and see if there was anything you could adjust next time , not in a self-blaming way, just objectively.
being sad for too long won’t change the grade, and it’ll only drain you ,and you already did your best, and that matters more than one result.
Agreed. Also @sharp coral I can’t be talking bc I’m just as bad (more actually)
Nah man be talking as u could so u could be pointing mistakes for ppl maybe they can't see but u can since u got experience in it , even if ur experience was a bad one , it will be like a mistake u won't be repeating again
& I can assure u that I'm even more bad than both of u
I usually can't move on on a bad grade I worked for but after time I realize I should have just be more patient and kept working hard
Lmao I failed maths in my mocks twice now from not revising
Can’t top me bud
@shrewd linden @sharp coral lowk we should make a check in GC
I can assure u I can top u easily bro 😭
I'm now kinda got used to failing i don't even feel anything but saying "sigh"
But I made alot of mistakes in my academic life and I don't think I could make any more mistakes
But i learned a lot of my mistakes so be feeling good actually when I see iam not doing the same mistake again
@shrewd linden
Yeah dw put ur mind to it
sorry for the late response, tysm for the kind words and being able to relate
@cerulean topaz @shrewd linden
i really wanna work on this part of me, but i hope it also gets better for the both of u!
I just feel like I gotta study harder next time, or think what I gotta change mainly. Also im proud of myself for putting so much effort into it.
Like you can't control results, you can control preparation
it feels weird, I think I think too much lol
truly good friends who actually care about you would understand. relationships go both ways after all
I just have a hard time communicating anything with others
but I've been saying no, I just leave before they can ask me
true, the best we can do is prepare. i'm someone who often downplays my achievements, so i'll need to pat myself on the back for making the effort to study hard in the first place. glad to know you're recognizing your hardwork!
Ur welcome and no worries ur good hope it u get over it asap !
No problem
Does anyone have a printable habit tracker template?
Guys i need some fast advice. What do you do when you study and have like 30 min study time 10 min pause time, and for the 30 minutes you barely do even 15 minute work, like you couldnt focus and just kept being distracted . Do you take the 10 minute pause or do you skip the pause?
tbh i just use the stop watch and when iam distracted i just stop it until i work again
If I need to rest my eyes id stop. If I hadn't started until 15 minutes in id reset my timer.
how do you guys deal with self doubt, you know when there is that same loop repeating over and over again and you try every single time to not procrastinate to not do something yet you still end up doing it and it just seems so scary to try again having a feeling you might fail again this time
Make the end goal so beautiful that you are filled to the brim with guilt if you dont achieve it (procrastinate). After that, even if you mess up, the next day will you have the motivation to keep going, and try once more to beat your bad habits.
Simple straightforward solutions/tips to pick a degree (desperate)
i'm not good at it yet, but something that really helps me is confronting why i doubt myself in the first place. understanding why you feel things in the first place can be a good starting point on what you need to work on next.
Just treat it like an experiment and keep self-worth out of the equation. What caused the procrastination? What variable can I change or method can I use to try for a different result? Sum up the true heart of the problem, and try some new things.
Yeah i tried to do the same its prob a burnout
You gotta progressively increase the time
Cant make the jump from 6 to 10 hours at once
Do you know how can i get back to my normal performance after this burnout?
You need a day off, like full relaxation. It helps the lock in the next day. Also I get you with the gaming but like the dopamine maxxing it gives you makes it harder to get yourself to lock in more consistently so maybe try avoiding it for a few days
Everyday doesnt need to be an 8 hour lock in, just add a day or two to your regular study schedule where you can go for the 8 hour work day, but other than that try your regular hours and maybe try to slowly build that time up instead of like a massive jump at once
Yeah, you’re right
I actually took 3 days off and now iam trying to get back slowly and i think its working
That's good to hear. I think anytime you feel mentally exhausted, taking a break is as important as getting the work done. Think of it more as helping you achieve your goal better rather than being an obstacle between you and your goal
hello , i wanna know how to cover large syllabus in short time igot finals after 1.5-2 months and have a lottt of untouched chapters/books . any help will be greatly appretiated
U got plenty of time honestly. Be consistent daily, and study 6-12hrs.
Consisyency is key, and have a nice plan on how to study each subject
hmm thanks for advice . rn even studying 1 hours feels out of grasp but ill try hard maybe i might pull it off
u got this!
when you guys finish tasks in courses from school. do you guys do a little of each everday or a topic at day?
sorry for late responses but thank you
hello im a freshmen in engineering, I always was a top student in hs but now im struggling like never my whole life collapsed i no longer im smart nor social and have friends even the sports i used to be good at i barely catch a ball now, the first semster ended and my grades are bad like never, i feel like my brain is paralysed i no longer feel the sensation of understanding, when i study i take toooo much time while getting distracted i cant focus nor finish any of my tasks', honestly i havent made a routine i would love to have a tight schedule with my whole life organised in it like i literraly stuggle to even find time to eat and take a shower yet i still dont assure my studey sessions in week days im just too tired and if i stay up too late i have a tendency to sleep in classes and teachers get mad at me and in weekends i dont know how to explain it wheni go back in friday i ll force myself to sleep very early to wake up early saturday and study the whole day only to fibd myself awake the evening of sunday and it s just a loop repeating over and over again im sick of this i really want to imrove my grades because i dont feel like enjoying anything if i dont and at the same time because my whole thinking is about studying im not really doing much also i have s difficiency in iron and vitamin D
heyy, love the community that we have here. i am starting to use this more often for studies. Thank you all for being so cool and supportive!
sounds like ur trying to fix everything at once with studying, focus, sleep schedule, general life stuff. Break it down into parts, be aware of the things to work on and avoid is a good start i think. Also, be patient with yourself.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?
Tbh what you are going through is extremely common in engineering, especially for people who were top students in high school , and Losing that “I understand things instantly” feeling is terrifying, so it makes sense that you feel like everything collapsed , but
University is honestly a different thing , not because you’re not smart anymore, but because it’s a completely different system , even people who get A’s struggle a lot behind the scenes , and struggling doesn’t mean you’re failing, it means you’re adapting.
I went through something very similar in my freshman year (engineering too ) , I failed courses, my grades were bad (1 D and the rest are F's) , and I was very hard on myself and I kept blaming myself, thinking that being harsh was the only way to improve , but that actually made things worse and what helped me later was realizing that you can’t fix everything at once
Sleep, focus, routine, grades , and trying to control all of them together just burns you out and when you ease up a bit and fix one thing, the rest slowly follows
As for me
Sleep made a huge difference for me. In high school I could survive on 4–6 hours, but in uni my brain just shut down , and once I started sleeping more, I could actually understand lectures instead of just being there physically
About studying taking so long that doesn’t mean your brain is broken , engineering is about deep understanding, not speed , and taking time to understand concepts is normal, even if it feels frustrating right now.
You’re not lazy, you’re not stupid, and you’re not alone in this loop , just be a bit kinder to yourself and progress in uni is messy, not linear , but it does happen, even if you can’t see it yet
And tbh there was a book about perfectionism that really helped me called
The joy of imperfection By Damon Zaharidus(idk if his name is right )
Anyways it focused on self criticism and how we do unrealistic schedules and yet feel bad about ourselves for not finishing em and he talked about how perfectionism is bad
It was good tbh and I think it could help
does anyone have experience with automating workflow? For context, I use chatgpt/claude/and google docs for my script workflow... so that means running a prompt in chatgpt, then back and forth chatting, then proceed with that info to claude and run another prompt, then copy the draft into a canvas in chatgpt, manual refinement and finally copy pasting it into google docs.
Another workflow which takes a lot of time, i need to add shorts into opusclip (a shorts in each opusclip tab, average 22 shorts). Then once it loads i have to manually pick a template for the caption (i use the same one everytime), then after it processed it, i copy each transcription from each tabs and send them to claude to make titles with a prompt i have.
Looking for a free solution, i can learn how to set it up. I heard about n8n and have locally install it but havent got around to make it work, since i need paid api from chatgpt/claude even gemini
Bro a deficiency in vitamin D can cause depression and feelings of tiredness. You really should try to get into the sun more, but don't get a sunburn or anything like that.
Besides that.. you need to start training yourself to increase your study over time. I would suggest gradually, increasing your study by 20% each time. 30 minutes, then 36 minutes, then 43 minutes.. etc or something like that.
Probably the hardest thing for you will be getting started. Just think of it like, your goal is to read 1 sentence in your book. Go with that as your focus and let your study carry you where it may after that. If you get distracted and need to reset, go again with that goal of reading 1 sentence in your study.
In regards to distractions, I would say don't resist them, just say alright I'll do the distraction just a bit later. Just switch the order to do the thing thats distracting you after the thing you are currently doing. Intrusive thoughts tend to go away if you don't resist them, just let them pop up, but let them go after you have acknowledged them.
Anyone know how to effectively read through a 47 page research article that delves into things that you're not too familiar with? (I'm a psych student in a biological sciences lab)
Any advice on how to stay consistent and disciplined? I have back to back finals this sem with each worth 100% for the course. I find myself starting tasks late, procastinate or avoid them if I cant do them perfectly or lose tempo when something takes me a lot longer to do.
Download habitica to gamify your habits/tasks
Ty :))
Does it rlly work?
For me it did
But I suppose it depends on if you like gaming or not
Has this xp and health bar system fluctuating based on if you do what you have to do
U don't need to do them perfectly
Just as u said being consistent and disciplined that's what u need for now
U just need to keep on going even when u r struggling
Know what do u tend to do when u procosinate and try to make it harder to do it like if u u just procrastinate by using ur phone shut it off and put it in the other room
Yes u can go and get it again
But the brain will find it harder to get up and get it trust me
Yeah you're right. Tyy I'll try this
ur wlcm!
gl u have got this !
hello yea its 3am here i am super stressed my igcse are in 2 months and i am not at all prepared i have a lot of regret overall my whole life it feels like i always fail myself i get panic attacks and all that stuff and i try to study i really do but its just i am so behind and it feels like a race against time i dont even know what to do
i had potential i really did but now i just cant do it i am too lost
If the goal is understanding, get a Google documents or a Microsoft word page up and start entering in words in the article that you don't understand. Then look up the words and type out the definitions on your document. That should let you fully understand it
see the thing is it gets to a point where i genuinely can’t read past a sentence cause half of it doesn’t make sense 💀
There is a lot to learn. You may need to take frequent wikipedia dives to fully understand what the heck is being talked about in each sentence
i will try!!!!
i’m js also stressing over the other three things i’ve gotta do at the same time 💀💀💀
Why are they having you read 47 pages of research anyways outside of your major? Maybe there's a short cut to this topic your professor talked about?
If you truly have to read the whole thing and understand it all, not just a small part, then breaking it down and learning new jargon/concepts is the best way like I said before. But maybe they just want you to examine the conclusion or something, or a certain part
Why won't be using chatgpt/gemini to help u tho ?
Even if It would take time
It would be helpful
Oh I signed up to work in a biomedical sciences lab because its focus is on synaptic plasticity and Alzheimer's Disease which are both very interesting topics to me. Plus i thought it'd be fun to see the hard work that works alongside Psychologists to help us determine the causes and correct therapies and medicines for patients with AD and other neurodegenerative disorders.... and i get paid lol !
can't complain over something i signed up for. just too much of a newbie to understand it all in my first week haha
I could!! I usually try to limit my chat usage cause of the environmental implications (plus i just dont end up learning lol). But i could def give it a shot
Thank y'all !!
so i've been wanting to be the type of student who reads/studies in advance, but the perfectionist in me thinks that i need to understand the entire lesson before the actual lecture. what's the bare minimum i can do to start and not overwhelm myself with?
If its a complicated or lengthy module, go over the general structure of the topic in your lecture. So that when youre in that lecture youre aware that oh this section is being discussed atm and then that ones next n so on and so forth. Read over your subject guide if you have one or a quick summary instead of the full coursebook. My opinion is that reading the coursebook after the lecture is more helpful because then more things sit in my head instead of flying right over it.
Youre not supposed to beat your lecture at something, its there to aid you :)) if its an easy topic then you could try to read everything in advance so you could revise or recall during the lecture, but if its a harder topic dont beat yourself up over it, try a new approach for it
tysm, @lavish flame! can i ask how long the process usually takes you and when (the day before? a few hours before the lecture?) you do it?
When i read before my lectures i do it either for 1-2 hours early morning before the lecture or the night before for the same time (avoid writing notes it will take super long)
So just reading ?
Reading's the first part, you need to actively engage with it dou and explain it to yourself imo
Cuz tbh I tried to do act like iam studying and didn't succeed once
It felt overwhelming cuz iam gonna attend it anyways
But I didn't try the reading thing at all
Will try it
Tyty
Best of luck :)) you can do this
Learn the key definitions imo. Though it depends on the class
yeah, i guess it does. i'm studying accounting, so i should probably focus more on problem solving.
yeah
I mostly do complete my tasks 💓 but there are really few things in which I procrastinate such as:my one subject because its too complex and I am not able to find vids online for it (still I did study for it but not that much I started to revice other all subjects and my vacation hw instead 🥲) and my work even many days later I wasn't able to complete my portfolio 𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ ՞𐦯.
I am making excuses I don't know if I fear the results won't be that good as expected or whether it's too hard to complete I am stuck between these two things ՞߹ - ߹՞
What should I do?? Any advice or recommendation?? 🫠
And I am type of person If i don't get quick results I would give up cuz Its hard not to ૮꒰◞ ˕ ◟ ྀི꒱ა
amm yeah I think i can relate this
first of all study that complex subject in the most active and productive hours of ur day. and give it ur full shot.
like me for example, I hate chemistry so I used to revise it daily in the morning and start studying until I achieve that particular subject's goal for the day.
and u must have patience to see the results bcoz...
***Good things take time. ***
Such a good advice but how to act on it idk Cuz I do these things in my produtive time but still I can't see any results

Just start doing. Thinking will make it clumsy. doing the work gives u clarification.

HOW DO U FUCKING SIT AND STUDY
step 1: get out of the bed
Hi. Please tell me, how I cheat my brain to sleep 8 hours? I'm trying to sleep 9:30 pm - 5:30 am to leverage the day and have many things done, like study, first work sessions, etc.
But many times I sleep/wake up late because honestly i get distracted
For example, today I won because I woke up at 5:30 am and did many things, I didn't procrastinate. But as the days go by, it's difficult to stay consistent on it
I think its honestly about ur sleep routine
I've seen a bunch of tips that say in summary you need a better night routine
basically, get in bed around an hour before you want to actually sleep to give your mind time to rest
during this hour: relax. no screens or harsh lights etc
or intense work. u can use this time to read a book, or journal or meditate
also no caffeine 8 hours before you want to go to bed
it might be hard but reliance on caffeine is bad in the long run anyway
Also, make sure youre sleeping according to rem cycles. Search up sleep calculator if you dont really want to do the math, but the average rem cycle takes 90 minutes, if you wake up mid cycle instead of at the end of 90 mins u get groggy
and also start actually trying to fall asleep 15 mins before your designated time (on average thats how fast people fall asleep, but you can adapt it depending on how tired you are I guess)
