Notion
no probs, im happy to help
i would suggest that you figure out what you want to build first, if you want something more visual, then i would suggest learning html css and some JavaScript, but if you just wanna learn programming, then python is a good start
I AM USING MICROSOFT ONENOTE for note taking...can someone tell me how do i allign my text with the ruled pages..
i heard that it can be a bit challenging tbh. It's like learning a new language mixed with solving puzzles. But i think its super rewarding. some concepts might feel like a brain workout at first, but as you crack them, you'll be like, "Hey, I got this!" i believe the key is to take it step by step. Don't hesitate to ask questions, seek help, and practice, practice, practice. Coding's all about practice. It's okay to feel a bit lost sometimes, everyone does. And remember, every time you figure something out, it's a mini victory. just be patient with yourself, and enjoy the journey. CS can open up some seriously cool doors and take you to exciting places. You got this.
hmm i think both programming and coding are closely related. coding is actually a part of programming? i think programming as the whole process like planning, designing, coding, and testing. meanwhile coding is the actual writing of code, like giving instructions to computers. As for which is easier, it kinda depends on you? Starting with coding might feel less overwhelming? (imo, i dont speak for everyone here) But if you dive into programming, you'll understand the bigger picture and how different pieces work together.
im using notion too! but some of my friends recommended me todoist, microsoft onenote and Microsoft planner. i heard of trello and asana too
as a cs major I will say there's no esay way lol. But you can watch some videos that's related to the programming language you want to learn and make sure to follow along (don't just sit down and watch the person code, code along side with them). You can also get text books or lecture notes about that language learn and practice by yourself and ask for help if you don't understand anything or get stuck.
i almost dropped my major because of c++ 😹
xD
cant focus to my work guys any suggestions ?
Just focus bro🙏🏼
lemme just copy and paste one of my paragraphs about procrastination, hope it can help:
- Figure out why you are procrastinating: too much work; perfectionism; boring subject; fear of failure etc…
- Take a step back and assess (or reassess) your main goals (the big picture)
- a. If the workload is heavy, break it down to smaller pieces, schedule a specific time to do every single thing (setting 1h to finish an assignment for example will make you go on super focus mode), and take small breaks in between
3.b. perfectionism: “done is better than perfect, because perfect never gets done”. Take the first steps, you can always edit afterwards, but don’t put the expectation so high it paralyses you; no work is perfect. Ever.
3.c. Boring subject: make it a challenge, (time-wise, creativity wise etc…), try to have fun with it, and experiment. - Manage your energy; you can have a boost from caffeine, nourishing foods, cold shower (that wakes you the heck up), fresh air and small breaks.
- Check the basics: having a distraction free (no phone) and dedicated space to study/work: your brain then specialise this area and will automatically know it’s study time (so not your bed, or at least the other side of your bed). Once in a while declutter/ clean that space so your mind is at ease too, and you don’t have an excuse to carry on the procrastination.
- Just start: it’s sometimes the toughest part but once you get into your work/ your project, you get in the mood and complete your task way faster and easier than you expected.
- try inverted pomodoro, if you can just focus for 5 minutes do that with intention, and come back after a small break (phone is not advised hehe)
Thank you all
Should I buy the xiaomi inkpalm 5
Are electric toothbrushes better than regular ones? I'm looking to buy one, if u can pls recommend me links to some cheap and quality ones

dont think too much about it friend, you might learn more things in the process for the long run, everyone has their own pace, i used to feel i should be a millionaire by now, but hey, life keeps giving me lessons, and im glad i stayed behind, im happier than ever
thanks, you in university?
yup my last year
how difficult is compsci?
its not difficult, but rather challenging, and I like it that way, gives me the ability to be more creative
i see thanks
thanx for help
^^
Should I try more than my usual effort in school? I know I suck at academics , and I have done everything with studying. Sessions, breaks, friends, groups but my brain tosses out the info as soon as I'm done studying.
My last sophomore year HS I got D's and C's with the exception of an A in English (cause I like to write). I exert more energy into my passions even though 40 percent of the time it sucks but still.
I have no plans on college or anything ,except the small thought of trade school lol
I think it might be woth trying some diff study technique or strateges to see if any of them work for u . like flashcards, active recall, mnemonics (a device tht helps u rmb smtg, like an acronym or a phrase that u can use to associate some info, exp : if u want to rmb the order of the planets in our system, u could use mnemonic, "My very Educated Mom Just Served Us Nachos: which stands for mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune), practice exams, summaries, mind maps, pomodoro technique.. it might be worth seeing if u can find a technique that helps u rmb more information
it can also be helpful to try and make studying interesting by adding some fun or interactve elements into ur study sessions
try to reward urself for ur hard work in studying. keep going
Alright. I'll hop on when school starts lol. I wanna have straight A's for atleast a week
Thanks 🙂

Does dopamine detox work?
And will i be more motivated for more beneficial things if i stop gaming?
Real
Yes
Yupp
And just got burned out
You will feel motivated
Like what you were doing those days
Reducing gaming time and stop playing games are different things
Chess, educational/self improvement videos, reading, talking with people on discord, playing basketball
Yeahh that's good
Atleast better than mine
But why did i get burned out?
Some people say that dopamine detox is crap some say it's good
Happens sometimes bro just a normal thing I guess
Who should i listen to?
Normal thing?
Don't listen to any one just do what you are doing
I was doing those activities
but now i'm playing videogames and watch some anime etc
but still play some basketball
also stopped playing chess and talking with people
But bruh I don't have any desire for anything
or this drive that james was talkin bout
Broo stopped playing chess and talking with people I can feel that
You will find that eventually
Are you good in studies???
Like any subject maths , science his
I want to start to learn programming
But i can't do it
I get tired after a hour or so
Yeah that's a thing on which you wanna focus
Dude obviously that's a catch no one wants to do hardwork you gotta set your mind for that
h o w
sort of
Exactly I had felt that thing when I was learning editing
Learning something is same like studying ones you will find it interesting but after sometime you will feel exhausted you don't wanna do that thing again that's where you gotta be disciplined like you want to learn programming seat a goal you will try to do it for atleast 1 hour a day
Nothing is going to motivate at that stage you just gotta do some hard work . Your brain don't want to do that but it's a good thing for you .
Alr
btw
about the goal setting and doing work
like pomodoros
Can you tell me about that
-Goals
-How much to study or how
Couldn't find command 'much to study or how'
Emmmmmmmmm
?
Just an hour will be enough I would say
Bro English ain't my native language but I will try to explain it to you
Take example of programming
What you gonna do is set that you will learn python for 1 hour daily no matter what if it's not 1 hr it will 45 min 30 min those 30-40min will productive for you
You gotta set time for something high as much as possible
Like I used to do think that today I will complete 2-3 ex but at the end I knew I can't do that but was able finish 1 ex daily without feeling exhausted 😶
Ok what about the rest and other free time?
In free do what you like to do what I do is scroll through yt,games and that's it
Don't worry that much bro chill
So it's still fine to play video games if i use them to rest
And dopamine detox is not that much required
?
Obviously bro you also gotta enjoy your life
Man how should I explain this to you 😶😶😶😶😶
You will be getting dopamine and detox from all the stuff you will do
Like studying , learning programming doing this you will feel some sort of achievement and that's what will motivate you further
Dude dopamine releases when you feel short time of happiness/relief ex like watching adult videos and detox is opposite of that is will release when you feel some sort of achievement 😄
if you're thinking of dialing back on gaming, i think it can def have a positive effect. since gaming can pump up your dopamine levels, and stepping away can help reset that balance. Will it make you automatically super motivated for beneficial stuff? it can help. But motivation's its kinda complex. it needs a mix of factors like purpose, goals, and habits. So yeah, taking a detox can give your brain some time to reset, and cutting back on gaming can open up more space for other cool stuff. But remember, it's not a one sieze fit all solution, it's part of a bigger picture
Been wanting to do that for a while but my schedule is tight 😢
Exactly 💯
If anyone has a Boox E-ink reader lemme know I need some help
do you guys have any piece of advice on how to stay motivated all year long ? I always end up having periods of time where I fed up of working and then I have to work even more to to make up for lost time
Anyone know any fully-paid Ph.D scholarships are or will open registration?
As much as I know you can't stay motivated for whole year
You just gotta go against the will of your mind to do that thing
k
Does anyone own a Inkpalm 5
motivation is probably not the thing you want to preserve, its very uncertain and you want something more stable to hold on to, and this is probably cheesy to a lot of people, but my current goal is to be the person that the child version of me would look up to, and it has been a huge boost in my productivity and im still happy doing it, sure my room is a bit messy and some dishes are unwashed, but i feel this drive inside of me everyday, this urgency that's always present and pushing you
and btw, is anyone here currently living in oxford independently? i have plans of continuing my studies there and it would be very helpful to have an accurate estimation of the living cost there, thanks in advance
Do you guys do anything when you're bummed about going to school? Or do I just accept fate and try to be positive while in a sour mood?
i don't usually try to be positive , i go to school but wanting to go home quick
I accept fate and try to find something shiny in the dirt
Meaning I look for what I can learn and what it means, where it's used, how is it useful... etc
Same
is there any accounts help
o
The shiny in the dirt is a "congratulations" and a paper that's basically "congratulations on your 4 years of doing worksheets ,now go get a job and pay taxes"
does anyone have experience writing quality personal statements?
hii
I got a lot of trouble focusing
I keep overthinking about past events in my brain while working and that's taking me off from study
I have to solve this problem and focus on my work and be at present moment
can anyone help me with this
Figure out about what you keep thinking about first and leave all those things or maybe social media that reminds you about your past events
Make a Deep focus notebook
During a study session, I just write down whatever thought other than study comes to my mind and feel it like Literally throwing it out of my brain and trapping it in the nb like how people in Yoga imagine breathing out body Troubles if that makes sense to you
like after youve written the troubling thought, just say this to yourself in your head "now that ive locked that thought away, my brain is again empty, i can put it fully towards a new task now ie to my studies"
Thisll might take like a week to show improvements tho, good luckkkkk
Mindfulness Meditation helps to notice when you're getting distracted, and then once you know then you can also get back to doing what's in front of you.
Like when you're thinking a lot and when you notice it, then you can start to listen to the sounds around you or feel the physical sensations on your body like feeling your feet on the ground, your back against the chair etc. You can get back to the present moment and let go of thinking like this, and then.. remember that you came here to study and gently get back to it.
Btw try not to judge yourself for thinking, because judging is thinking too.. so just quietly and gently get back to it
First off, set smaller, achievable goals. And mix things up like routine can give u some motivation maybe. Try new methods, break tasks into little things, or explore different angles. and also embrace the power of breaks.dont get burnout so give yourself some downtime. Also, find your "why" , connecting tasks to bigger goals fuels motivation. Lastly, remember it's okay to have those off days. They happen to everyone. The key is bouncing back, don't beat yourself up. It's a marathon, not a sprint. And when you look back and see how far you've come, that's a motivation boost right there.
LMAO i get ur feeling, i believe we've all been there. Some days, school feels like a drag, but remember, it's not forever. try to remind yourself why you're there, what you're aiming for, and the things you're learning. Second, plan something to look forward to after school, like meeting a friend? and it's okay if u feel moody abt going to school. as i said, we all have those days. But sometimes, once you're in the groove of things, your mood might lighten up. So try 2 embrace the positive vibes where you can, and give yourself some credit for showing up and doing your thing. You got this.
Dealing with overthinking and struggling to focus is like a universal challenge. i do too. So you're definitely not alone. maybe u can try to cut yourself some slack, since we all have moments where our minds go on their own. To get that focus back, try this to set a designated "worry time." If a past event pops up, tell your brain, "Alright, I'll think about this later during worry time." Then, refocus on what you're doing. Also, when those thoughts creep in, take a deep breath, acknowledge them, and gently bring your attention back to the task at hand. It's a bit like training a pet, patience and practice. And every now and then, step away, stretch, or whatever. Then come back to work with a fresh mindset.
Ah kk lol. ,thanks. I started at a new school, so I'm back to being a loner but I don't mind much. I always think about what I'm going to do after I graduate. For some reason I always get surprised whenever I feel out of place but then I realized that I am different and my impeding journey to being different even though everyone is the same one way or another. I love being social but I don't really try cause I'm trying to solve a self esteem problem (going to gym soon lol) and an adult film addiction. Plus , I can't connect with people easily when they're not my own ethnicity. There's nothing I hold against others ,I'm just stupid.
Hey, no need to be hard on yourself, you're not alone in feeling out of place at a new school. It's like starting a new chapter, and while it might feel a bit "loner-ish," it's totally okay. me too tbh. but embrace your uniqueness, it's what makes you. Just remember, life's full of surprises, and you're on a path to embrace that difference and become even more amazing. And hey, good job for being real about the self esteem journey and planning to hit the gym, ur awesome. and for the adult film stuff? We all have our things, and working on bettering yourself shows a ton of growth is enough
Connecting with people outside your ethnicity can be a bit hard, i get u. but it's not about being "stupid." It's just about finding common ground. As you work on your self-esteem, that confidence will naturally help you connect with others, no matter where they're from

I use google sometimes😭
chatgpt is more useful than parents lmao
It's always so respectful!

A mission to save the world!
So I need help the highest grade you can get in my school is A1 and then A2 and then B1 and so on to get A1 it's 91-100% do does that mean 91+ is 4.0 Gpa and if 4.0 is 95 then I would basically need to get 34/35 or 78/80 in all subjects to get 95% is it possible to get that ,that's like 98% in all exams
i think ur right? In most systems, getting an A1 (91-100%) usually corresponds to a 4.0 GPA. And if a 4.0 is around 95%, then you're looking at aiming for high 90s in your exams. Yeah, you'd need something like 34/35 or 78/80 in all your subjects to hit that 95% mark. But it's gonna take some dedicated studying and acing those exams.
u can try
naturalReader. it converts text into speech. You can copy and paste your study content, and it'll read it out to you.
Balabolka: This app not only converts text to speech but also supports various file formats like DOC, PDF, and more.
Read Aloud (Chrome Extension): If you're working with web content, this Chrome extension can read text from websites aloud.
Voice Dream Reader: This app is great for eBooks and documents. It can even sync with cloud storage services like Dropbox.
Any skills/methods I can use to effectively study and not get distracted
Yeah same bro
I also need some tips/skills to improve my grades
i think u can try to break your study time into manageable tasks, like 25-30 minutes. It's easier to stay focused when you know there's a mini-break coming up. and also grab some snacks to keep your energy up. But don't go overboard . keep ur phone on silentmode and put it away. like the saying of out of sight, out of mind. remember to tidy up your study area too A comfy and free space can work better for your focus (at least for me)
maybe u can try to switch subjects or topics every now and then. Variety keeps things interesting and your brain engaged (if this works for u) u can aso try to do some quick walks during breaks, itcan help refresh your mind. Breathe some fresh air and come back ready agian.
if u want, u can put on some background music, but make it chill and without lyrics, you don't want a sing along distraction (happens to me all the time
) and rmb to have a clear plan for what you'll be doing in each study session. No room for wandering thoughts.
Promise yourself a treat after you've hit your study goals. It's like bribing your own brain, and it works! Visualize your success. Imagine acing that test or anything that ur workking on, It can boost motivation and focus. im not sure if these works for u but u can give it a try and lmk!
first of all, try to reallllly understand what's being taught. Don't just skim the surface, dive into it. and then maybe u can try using flashcards. like for for key terms, formulas or anything.
u can also try to form a study group or maybe find a study buddy? its in #study-buddies . cuz sometimes explaining things to each other can be a game changer. Don't be shy about asking questions. If you're unsure, it's better to ask and get it right.
remember to get enough sleep too. Your brain needs rest to absorb all that stuff.
Also, during ur free time, u can practice problems, essays, whatever your subject demands. since uk practice makes progress. or u can also try to use mind maps, they are like organized doodles. They help connect ideas and make studying visual.
i also try to pretend im teaching somebody, like im literally just talking to mmyself lmao but explaining concepts to ppl helps reinforce your own understanding.
rmb to plan your study time and stick to it, dont do everything last minute!!
improving grades takes time and effort, so be patient with yourself.
brooo thanks for the tips but the part( where your pretend to teach somebody else )is so real like some time i also do that and thats so effective
Right?? I do that when I study for my final exam lol
same i also do that and that thing help me a lot .on monday or tuesday i will probably get my pre mid term exams result
Hello peoplee
Hope y’all goodie
I am currently doing my Alevels
Any tips and trick for Alevels physics? I am really struggling there aghh
genuine q, how do you not feel sleepy af after a long period of study
even if i get a solid block of sleep, i begin yawning in the middle of a 4hr ish block, and lose so much concentration
this is a very obvious answer, but you still need a break
sometimes working long hours does not generate the same output tho
i sometimes go take a walk for 30 mins or wash my dishes or something
i believe physics is just like eveyrthing else, you get better with practice. Solve tons of problems, even if you stuggle at first. coming from one of my friend who studys physics too (not a level tho), they said try to imagine the physics scenarios as movies in your mind. It can help make abstract concepts more concrete. and also rmb the formulas. Know, understand and use them.
also regularly go back to stuff you've learned. Repetition is the key to locking it into your brain. Master the foundational concepts. They're the building blocks for the more complex stuff. remember to handle huge problems step by step. Don't let them overwhelm you. if udk how to do some ques, YouTube's a goldmine for physics explanations. Search for topics that ur struggling with. or u can just consult ur teachers or friends, ask questions, dont be embarassed! (i asked alot) and If there are labs, dive into 'em. Hands on experiments can help cement theoretical ideas.
dont forget making mistakes are part of the process. Learn from them and they'll lead you to success. Physics might feel like hard but you're totally capable of putting those pieces together
real. try to split your study into shorter tasks Like, 25-30 minutes. and has breaks in between , breaks are like mini recharge sessions.
also get up and stretch ur body during breaks. Stay hydrated too. Water can work wonders for your alertness.
or u can use snacks to boost your energy. maybe some healthy snacks like nuts, fruits, or yogurt. try to switch up where you study too. i believe new surroundings can keep you more awake. have u tried the Pomodoro Technique tho? 25 minutes of study, then a 5-minute break. or If you're feeling super sleepy, take aa 15-20 minute nap. (this dont work for me but it works for my friend) also interact with your study material. Try summarizing aloud or teaching a 'pretend' student.
Remember to listen to your body sometimes, if u feel really really sleepy. maybe it's time for a quick break or a snack. You got this
genuine q, how do you not become unfocused during pomodoro breaks
TBH
You gotta plan your breaks as much as you plan your sessions
So as soon as you’re done
You know how to relax
And you’re not sat there wondering about it
Also Pomodoro is trash, u wanna enter a state of flow, Pomodoro is only good if you wanna study 2 hours max a day or something
@coral chasm
A way I do to stay focused
Is that I’ll set up a time lapse of me studying
So I can’t use my phone
Since it’s recording
And at the end when u watch it back
U feel kinda proud of it
use the breaks to your advantage. Stretch it out, get moving. u can also sort out emails, jot down quick notes, or grab a snack. do some deep breathing or a mini meditation. also, stay away from screens. remember, breaks are about recharging. Keep them short, set intentions, and come back focused.
How do u have knowledge in like every subject lmao
google is my best friend sometimes.
I used to do that lol, but issue is I procrastinate on pc
mmmmmm shack part makes sense yeah lol
Thanks!! This makes sensee
Oh I don’t use my PC for anything other than work
the issue is when i start using youtube or something like that
so far im at the mercy of my own free will
loool
idk then tbf
aha its fine lol
yeah the issue is
i use that
it's really inconvenient
like sometimes i need youtube to explain some stuff
but then it's a high risk of getting lazy
haha true
mm i see what you mean
The guilt method 💀
Honestly when I get into a flow state of studying, I end up enjoying it
I enjoy the satisfaction of getting shit done
The one who enjoys walking more than the destination, will walk forever
frankly true… but how do you enjoy it
I feel very apathetic to almost all aspects of work I do
hi does anyone have any podcast recommendations for productivity and intentional living? starting university and wanted to replace music during my commute
There are quite a few.
Tim Ferris has a good podcast on living intentionally and some resources on how to focus your time. It offers some tools on organization based on the experiences of others in various fields. Headed by Tim Ferris, the author of "4 hour week".
Jocko Podcast is a lot about mentality and gaining a sense of leadership through owning what you do, and gives you great stories about how others solve problems both in corporate and in military settings. Headed by Jocko Willink, Navy SEAL platoon commander and veteran of the Iraq war.
Huberman Lab is my favorite. It goes into neuroscience and psychology of motivation, energy, and productivity, reviews current medical research on such topics, and offers practical solutions on learning, energy management, sleep, and even exercise. Headed by Andrew Huberman, professor of neuroscience at Stanford University.
Those are the big three that I listen to.
Do it simply because it’s difficult! Doing hard things will help you grow no matter how pointless it might seem
There's an extension to hide the home page of YouTube, remove clickbait thumbnails, hide the shorts and to hide the sidebar recommendations
So you can just search whatever video you wanted and don't deviate
do you guys know any platform that can check my ielts writing? it's challenging for me to check my writing on my own
Maybe this https://www.ieltspodcast.com/free-essay-check/ ?
thank you so much ヾ(≧▽≦*)o
I got 35/50 in maths. I want to Ace maths exam any tip
Practice loads
Understand concepts in depth. Practice will train you to see and work through common patterns, a deep understanding will let you solve nearly every problem
What really you mean by deep understanding 😶
like knowing why a certain method is used
that’s the easiest way I can explain it, because then you can make contextual links to other concepts
Thanks bro 😁
np
ive got exams from next week ( mid term) i dont know shit and i dont even wanna study but i want good grades
how should i force
myself
Imagine the pain of regret
That you could’ve done well
You could’ve realised your potential
But instead you wasted it scrolling on tiktok
i dont get intrest tho
u can use Grammarly. its a tool for grammar and spelling checks, and it can be used for IELTS writing as well.
IELTS Simon offers feedback on your IELTS essays and provides valuable insights.
E2Language offer writing assessments and provide detailed feedback for IELTS essays.
yoo getting 35/50 is a good start. don't stress too much, you've got this. Break down the topics you're struggling with into smaller parts and settle them one by one. maths requires practice so solve as many problems as you can. When ur stuck in a question, don't hesitate to ask for help, teachers, friends, #math-help or online resources. during examination , keep an eye on the clock during the exam and manage your time wisely, don't get stuck on one question for too long(bad habit i always have) believe in yourself and remember improvement takes time
oml ik midterms can feel overwhelming, and sometimes studying seems like the last thing you want to do. use those good grades as a motivation for u! (or anything else) Start small and take it one step at a time. Set up a study schedule but dont do all things at once, seperate them into managable task so it doesn't feel like this massive mountain to climb. Turn studying into a game or challenge, it can make it way more interesting. Surround yourself with a good study vibe, maybe some snacks, or a comfy space, and maybe some good tunes? imagine the satisfaction of finish that exam and getting good grades tho. It's a tough push, but remember, you're investing in your future self. You got this
Hi everyone
It will soon be my birthday and my family is asking me what do I want for my birthday. The problem is I have absolutely no idea !
But since my life right now is pretty much only me studying, do you have any piece of furniture that you are glad to have bought to help you study ?
i personally love book stands, they're very helpful to avoid neck pain during long study sessions.
Get a candle! Lighting candles in my room is the best feeling
A desktop book stand and reading light for sure, if you don’t already have those
i never heard E2Language before, thank you for your suggestion
How about an extension that simplifies YouTube or an entirely third party player?
Open source extension that removes comments/recommendations from Youtube: https://github.com/makaroni4/focused_youtube
Found this. Clean and open source, might give it a go myself
install selfcontroll or similar app. it will block distracting sites at .host level
If you need to watch tutorial go to genmirror
works well 🙂
Other option is unhook browser extension
happy early birthday! I totally get where you're coming from, sometimes it's tough to figure out what you want. if you're diving into the study life, a comfy chair with good back support is cool. since hours of sitting can be a pain in the back. maybe a desk with enough space for your stuff? or if you're into tech, a good desk lamp or even noise canceling headphones !! Think about what'll make your study time more comfortable and efficient. Enjoy your day and whatever you end up getting !
Happy birthday in advance bru
Can someone help me explain about the OWASP Top 10 but only 3 of them : Security Misconfigured, Vulnerable and Outdated Components, and Identification and Authentication Failures?
Thank you very much for the ideas ! I think i'm gonna go with a nice desk lamp 🙂
Thanks (:
hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice to study considering I struggle a lot to focus (that or I hyperfocus for hours) and i'm studying biochemistry although my objective is another -Criminology- career (still on a basics where I have Cell Biology, Biophysics and Society & Polity as subjects) ?
I struggle a lot with anything related to maths because my brain just can't process numbers as easy as it is to others so Biophysics is being a pain. And I can't afford all the photocopies needed to have theory and activities stuff in hand 😦 I only got one of the books and the rest I try to use paper and pen to transcribe or work with my PC but I can't study like that at college
Usually I get back home after a long journey of classes and i'm too tired to do anything but when I try to force myself to study I can't do much for long or I gest stuck constantly with simple things, unless i'm on a deadline like- about to give finals lol
where should I put my phone where I guarenteed wont pick it up and get distracted?

Night Lad
?
its an app where you set how much time you need to work
when you work it grow trees
you need to complete the timer to grow it fully and if you leave the app your tree die
so if youwant to have a good forest on the app you need to study and let your phone away
ohh,that sounds cool
Does anyone know jvscholz Emacs config
omg u sound like you've got a lot on your plate, and it's totally ok to feel the struggle. Focusing can be hard, but remember that you're not alone. Biochemistry might not be your ultimate goal, but it's part of the journey. For subjects like Biophysics that give you a tough time, break them into smaller parts and settle them step by step. u can also use online resources like Khan Academy, YouTube, or even study groups to get through the tougher concepts. or u can even find a study buddy to help u in #study-buddies
When math gets hard, don't hesitate to ask for help from ur friends, teachers, or even here ( the #math-help channel)
As for your energy levels after classes, it's normal to feel drained. Try setting a small, focused study session, maybe about 20 or 30 minutes? and give yourself breaks in between. It's quality over quantity.
And if deadlines give you more motivation to do shits, try to create amini deadlines for yourself. thats what i do too! As for resources, check if your college has a library, they might have the books you need.
phone distraction struggle is real. try to put your phone in a different room or somewhere less accessible, like a drawer or on a high shelf? If you're using it for studying, put it on silent and flip it over so you don't see notifications, thats what i also do. Another cool idea is to use a designated study area, put your phone away from that spot to create a distraction free zone. And if you still find yourself reaching for it, try some apps that lock your phone for a set time. you'll be surprised how much more focused you can be. find what works best for you!
hey guys whats the best way to start learning french? i attand a class but the ppl in it seem to know way better than me in french n idk what to study alongside the class nor what to do
I mostly shut down my phone and put in the living room.
That's good!! its a great way to minimize distractions and stay focused on your tasks. Keep up the good work!
Thanks. All the best for your studies
hello, don't worry about others knowing more, everyone learns at their own pace. dont compare okay/ u can begin with basic vocabulary like numbers, greetings, or everyday phrases. u should also practice speaking, even if it's with yourself or recording your voice.if u have any questions u can ask for help in the #languages-help channel. Use language apps like Duolingo or Babbel to help u too. also try reading simple French books or watching French shows with English subtitles so u can get used to the language. And don't forget, consistent practice is key. Set aside some time each day, even if it's just 5 or 20 minutes. before you know it, you'll see progress. Bonne chance!
If you need any help with a translation or anything you like i can help
Hi, is there anyone who could help me with solving mechanical exercises of rigid bodies (exercises include determining the rotation matrices of a certain object with certain movements, calculating kinetic energy with laws of motion and conservation, and calculating inertia tensor of objects) it is exam level so it’s quite difficult. Dm me if you can help! Thanks 🙂
Yo KK thank you much
Hello :), do you guys know any free note taking apps for iPad that you use or recommend?
he uses doom emacs
u can try GoodNotes, it's popular and it allows you to write, type, and even annotate PDFs. Notability is another solid choice, it offers features like recording audio while taking notes. maybe u can try Microsoft OneNote too? since it's free and it syncs across devices, making it super handy. see which one suits your style the best.
i see thankyou sm
. . . umm we would've already done it if we knew what to do
what's your plan if you ever do that?
free ice cream?
war crimes, a lot of em
and yes
mandatory free ice cream
the people will get what they deserve
elaborate, please.
tax money: collected to make people happy <-> ice cream: distributed to make people happy
tax money -> buy ice cream -> make people happy
not for long tho
it's more of a dream far from reality
please dont type an essay
i was goofing around
lol
but yes sadly its not that simple

Obsidian or notion? Which one you use and why???
If you're into a more focused note taking experience with interconnected notes and Markdown, Obsidian's its better.. It's great for solo brainstorming and organizing thoughts, plus your data stays local. for Notion, is an all in one workspace with tons of features like databases, project management, and collaboration. It's also cloud based, user friendly, and ideal for both personal and team use. So, depends on u. for me i use Notion
@normal pond
hi so im going into med school n im thinking of getting a 2 in 1 laptop 😎 thoughts? or recommendations?
i don't know what you mean by 2 in 1 laptop but if you want to play game it's a lot cheaper to buy a laptop only for med school and a computer on the side than to buy only one that do both
bro med school I dont have time to game 😔
its a tablet/laptop convertible
hoooo ok you mean that
lol
1 er année de medecine ?
oh oui
bonne chance
the worst of france
yeah a bunch of people i knew went to like Romania to do dentistry

hello .. guys looking for a friend to learn to develop together ... to motivate each other to study! so that they could call each other every day and study together via video .. is there anyone here who wants to be a friend with me?
Anyone got any tips on making friends in uni I swear I get so shy and insecure 😓 or any tips at all would be appreciated
hey someone help me about migrate in docker?
hi how am i
reverse the roles
Joining societies was huge for me in first year, just find some socs related to your interests and just start showing up to events! If it's for something you're interested in you know that you have at least one common interest with everyone there
I take my notes on paper for studying, but I do use obsidian for anything else
Same, I get too distracted by obsidian for quick or focused note-taking but it's great for in-depth planning and structured note-taking
Notion for planning, obsidian for note taking, because with Obsidian you can connect anything to everything, non-lineary, just like how the brain process things
Look for a model with good battery life, a comfortable keyboard, and a responsive touchscreen. Maybe u can try like the Microsoft Surface Pro series, Dell XPS 2-in-1s, and HP Spectre x360. Consider your budget, processing power, and any specific software requirements you might have
Making friends in uni can be a bit hard but you've got this! First off, keep an open attitude and smile. so u can become a friendly person that people want to be friends with. Join clubs or groups related to your interests, attend events and initiate conversations by introducing yourself and asking about classes or recent happenings.
You can try study groups too, they are gold for connecting with classmates, and connect them on social media too.
Be patient, it takes time to build connections. Just be yourself, listen actively, and offer help if you're good at something. Remember, everyone is facing the same situation, so stay positive and don't worry if things don't click instantly, all things take time. Keep trying and you got this, and you'll make friends in no time.
Hello guys. Sorry for interruption. I just want to ask that how you people study with anxietic emotions? How you guys focus? Keep going? It's totally impossible for me. When my mind is sick, it has the same effect as body sickness. I cannot fight with it. But also cannot wait that it walks it off.
write it down somewhere
or openup to someone
let your mind wander off and get back to work
Then you gotta analyze, see where that anxiety is coming from and put it into perspective, don't try to avoid the issue
Once you put it into perspective, it's gonna be way easier to detach yourself from that emotion, and then you can start to overcome it
i'm having trouble making my desk my efficient study place as it has my pc i use for both my homework and what i used to play games on. i get distracted by having a second monitor so i leave it off during work. any tips to make an environment more conducive to studying?
my best work is done as far as possible outside and i also can't go to the library every day
my main issues with it are that it's hard to get into the zone at a place i would spend my leisure time + my home is often noisy
I use Cold Turkey and block every single app/website that distract me for x hours, once you block with cold turkey it won't let you unblock, delete or nothing till the time is over
I need help understanding this english from a translation of a enscription. “They desolated its people and its land was like that which had never existed.” Is this trying to say that they destroyed their land and its people and left it like it never even existed?
i agree, you can use meditation strategies as well, but you should try to find the root of the issue
Bruhh my attendance 😭😭
Take a rest when you are anxious man, if studying is what makes you anxious dont study those subjects
desolated can be seen as destroyed or to sadden someone, so yeah "desolated" is going with "its people" and "its land" goes with "had nerver existed" so your understanding is pretty good. They destroyed the people and left the land as if it has never existed
like they said, try breaking down your studying into smaller steps and setting a schedule. Also do some deep breathing and mindfulness exercises which might help calm your mind. also rmb to take short breaks and focuse on a healthy lifestyle like sleep, exercise, and good food can contribute to your overall well being. reach out to anyone that can provide valuable support. create a quiet, distraction free study environment. Be kind to yourself, progress is progress no matter how small they are, is worth celebrating. seeking help is a sign of courage, not weakness. You're not alone!
try carving out a dedicated study zone if you can. leave only what you need for studying, and move away any gaming distractions. Set a clear boundaries for study time and (i heard that ) use natural light from a window can help. If noise is a bother, use noise canceling headphones or play some music. and i thnnk personal touches like motivational decor can boost your mood. Turn off that second monitor and use apps to block distracting sites.
means that they not only destroyed the land's inhabitants but also caused the land itself to be in such a state that it seemed as if it had never existed or been inhabited before
@rough plume @small pewter Thanks guys
bit late maybe, but read epictetus. the encharidian is really good for learning how to detach your emotions from the things that happen. You can find a million pdfs online, find it at a book store, or youtube summaries if you don't wanna really dive into reading it. the philosophy as a whole is known as stoicism, and to really oversimplify it in one phrase: "it's not things themselves that harm us, but our perception of those things" -Epictetus
your experience may vary, but if you really try to take it in, it can drastically improve anxieties, both exaggerated and legitimate
Any electrical engineers here ? I’m nervous (legit don’t feel smart enough for this degree lol) also my first year In College
How can I replace my empty time in the day with actual productivity, that regards studying CS, physical activity and hobbies that I could cultivate, asking because it's hard enough with having this plans and being ADHD at the same time.
what are some decent e-ink readers? would also listen to music on it, really appreciate ant answers. sorry if this is the wrong channel.
Firstly, like every other things, set clear goals for studying CS and stay active. Build a daily schedule that allocates time for each activity and breaks. Prioritize tasks within each activity and employ techniques like the Pomodoro method with timed study sessions and short breaks ( if that works for u). Minimize distractions, stay present, and adapt your schedule as needed. Reward yourself for achievements, and consider seeking support if ADHD poses challenges. It's a process, so be patient !
Why do I get the impression that sometimes you get your answer from an AI
Bc ai is from online too
How should I organize the study session? As length, I mean
anyone of accountancy bg? i need some help
does anyone use Notion? I need some cool ideas or codes to organize it
Yo could you help me find this wallpaper from this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh2fcTTI6GY&t=86s. 1:25.
Hi, looking some advices to secure a pymetrics test for a Company Interview.
ece, same here man
Hey guys, I'm gonna start my second year of computer science and I can choose whether to take classes in the morning or in the afternoon. In my first year I had them at the morning but I'm willing to try afternoon classes since I belive that I can study in the morning fresh and then go to class. However my friends will take morning classes so idk what to do really. Have any of you had classes in the morning and in the afternoon and what do you recommend?
uhmm u can try the pomodoro style. a 25 min study and 5 min break. Or maybe you 60-90 minutes, and have a break/snack when u want to. If your focus starts fading after 20 minutes, u should take a break. find whats best for u. (i usually follow whatever yt channels i was watching (study with me videos))
showe your authentic self while aligning with the company's values. stay calm, and don't overthink it. take a breath. Focus on showcasing your natural strengths while staying true to yourself. have fun with it. u can do this.
Morning classes gives you more of a fresh start, but if you're a night owl, afternoons might suit you better. Since you've experienced morning classes, maybe u can try the afternoon one? maybe u can have the mornings for somestudy sessions (if u want to). it's about what fits your rhythm and study style.
have you tried obsidian

Guys I am having problem with triangles (similarity) need some help and tips how to study that specific chapter
I'm so stressed rn cuz I have my midterms starting from 8th and I have 13 chapters in history to study for (we have no days off before history exam )...can someone please help me to figure out how I should study for dis exam
anyone knows how to calculate exchange rate based on percentage?
I'm making a japanese anki deck and using TTS but i'm wondering if it's possible to create cloze deletion cards with it??? Can anyone help?
I know how stressful midterms can be. try to break those 13 chapters into small tasks, maybe like 2 chapters per day? so it's not so overwhelming. use a calendar or app to slot in each section over the days leading up to the exam, and don't forget to add in short breaks.
When you're reading , get active, take notes, highlight stuff, and ask yourself questions. Use flashcards (if it works for u) After each section, give urself a quick summary. Try some practice questions or old exams. Do some quick reviews at the end of the day keep things fresh. Test yourself without looking at your notes(i always do this ) And if you can teach a topic to someone, means u did it. Dont forget to eat well n rest well. Adjust your schedule if needed, treat yourself after u finish each day. You got this, it's just a midterm, and you're way more capable than you might think.
I’m a high school student starting my sophomore year in week. I’m really scared that I’m going to fall into a cycle of not finishing my homework, not studying for exams, and being extremely sleep deprived similar to last year. I really don’t want to continue this cycle. Does anyone have any advice so I don’t fall into bad habits like this?
You're not alone
I'm having this same problem
I think we have to figure out why exactly are we not working
If there's anything stopping me or you
What can we do about it
Like, I get sucked into yt and then time goes away
Yeah, for me I play sports all year and get really tired afterwards so I basically do nothing after coming home
So ig my sleep
One solution I got about that is stay away from stepping into a well, so that you don't fall in it
Like don't open up yt without a necessary and valid purpose
I might try that
I need my own advice too
unrelated question but are you from bangladesh?
No I'm from Pakistan
I know that it's possible because I've done it before
I found exercise really helps clear my mind and keeps me from getting burnt out
nice
U Bengali?
Yeah but indian bengali
Alr cool
Yeah
And another thing I found is
Asking yourself what's stopping you from doing this
And if the answer is nothing
Then you're just being lazy
There's actually nothing in your way
So you are quite literally unstoppable
As long as you're functioning
Thank you so much
And you gotta prioritize yourself
And say yes to what matters
Believe in yourself
And use force when needed
There is nothing in your way
You can manage what is in your control
And you can regain your power
You have power over yourself, your thoughts, decisions, actions, beliefs...
You can control yourself in the present moment
Do what you know you should do, right now and here
There's nothing in your way
You are literally unstoppable.
you’re motivating me to do my summer work
Now let's go
Adios amigo, good luck 🤞
does anyone know the desktop background in James' new video?
try setting up a study routine. plan for homework and studying, and stick to them. If u have big project/assignment, sort it into small parts so you can do it step by step and not feel overwhelmed
u can also make a to-do list each day to keep track of what needs to be done. If udk where to start, u can look at the #to-do-lists channels and look at other ppl tasks, maybe ull know where to start. And rmb to prioritize sleep to be productive. If you're struggling with anything, don't hesitate to ask for help, ur teachers, friends, family, or even here. they're all there to support you.
its better if u use tools like apps or planners to stay organized. Remember, it's okay to take breaks, they boost your productivity! you got this!
hi! is anyone here working on bioinformatics projects/datasets and bioinformatics in general? or veterinary? I have some questions and i would be more than happy if you could answer them...pls dm me 🙂
Where do you guys get audiobooks?
Amazon's Audible, Apple Books, Google Play Books.

Do you guys got any words of affirmation when wanna get shit done? But the shit you wanna do is east but it's just time consuming, and you don't want it to consume your time but you have to do it anyway for a grade
anyone :) ??
u can try Today Habit Tracker, Habitify, Productive or HabitBull. if u want smtg more fun u can try Streaks, whihc can set up to 12 habits to track, and it encourages you to maintain streaks by completing your habits consistently. or Habitica, it turns your habits into a role playing game. You create a character, and your habits impact your character's progress in the game.
its seems Arial ?
take notes, edit documents or draw. u can also watch movies with bigger screen rather than ur phone, or play games or reading e-books (if u read books)
or Courier New
u can do it. One step at a time.
It's ok to be hesitant, but you'll be glad you did it.
Don't put too much pressure on yourself, just try you best every step of the way.
Even if it takes a little longer than you expected, remember, patience is a virtue.
i believe this is something we all go through, so ur not alone 🫂 When that happens, I usually start by reminding myself why I'm taking the test and what I hope to achieve. like set a clear goals and visualize your success. Then, break study time into a schedule, making sure to have regular breaks to avoid burnout. Also changing my study environment or studying with a friend can make it less boring. like sometimes i would choose to study at my room, other time at a library or a cafe. Maybe u can even find a study buddy to motivate u? And, don't forget to eat well n get enough sleep. it's ok to have moments of low motivation. The key is to keep going, even when it's tough.

How would I read ebooks
What works for me is trying not to mindlessly memorize the material but to deeply understand what I'm learning and how it is applied to whatever subject. Another thing that helps is creating your own test and solving them or sorting whatever I'm learning into catagories or writing it over and over.
ok
What are you studying
Any subject you’re struggling in the most
math bro
Oh yeah math is pretty hard. What helps me in math is being vulnerable and asking the teacher on how to solve a problem or staying after school for tutoring
Because studying math is pretty hard if you don’t know how things work for whatever subject yk
What math are you in
what
Like what math are you learning
I meant like Algebra 2,Geometry, etc
Wait here move to #math-help

yoyoyoo
i had the same problem as you
minimal effort, maximum result
then i entered uni where i had to study and i was part of the worst in my class
what helped me the most was just finding something i really like
physics in my case
i was/am really passionate about it and it goes like a breeze
really dive-in, breath physics, live physics, think physics
dont learn theory right out of your head but try to apply it in problems
i hope that helps, it helped me x^
hey all https://www.readtrellis.com/ curious your thoughts on a tool like this!

Does anyone here know if the author of the book Atomic Habits is credible and reliable enough to be used for a research paper?
yeah i mean if youre talking about what he says scientifically then you prolly gotta research further
i havent read atomic habits yet so im sorry idk just guessing lol
How do i be more motivated to study my finals are in like 4 weeks but have not done any actual “real” studying
I'd suggest looking for where he uses references to actual primary scientific researhc. Those sources would be good for a research paper. Atomic Habits alone isn't good enough because it adds commentary, conclusions, protocols, and ideas that haven't been scientifically tested and broadly accepted by the research community - they contain a lot of new logically derived yet untested ideas.
Start breaking your study sessions into smaller task and set some goals for each session. Create a study schedule that includes breaks to avoid burnout. Also find a study environment that minimizes distractions. Make your study sessions more engaging by using different study techniques like summarizing, teaching the material to someone else, or making flashcards. visualize your success and remind yourself why acing those finals matters. It's tough, but you've got this
ty
Omg that’s so smart
Thx so much
i'm having second thoughts on a major all cuz it's right before my college app process. i'm thinking i want to do cs but i don't have experience in other topics, so i'm afraid i might be missing out on doing something better for me overall
cs is good bro trust
i have the same fear of not being able to get the job tbh
It's true that is more competitive now but I guess every single company needs software
But cs is not only software
You can do cs and end up working in something like embedded FPGAs
cs opens you all the things about computers and technology
hey guys.

Hello
Yo so I had a question: so basically I need to get shit done. And I’m a big time procrastinator and like I just realized how much trouble I’m in when I looked at my whole life and how my current behavior isn’t gonna get me through life so how do I overcome this urge to always play games or scroll on Instagram
Also I’m like leaning to the business side and I also just realized how like creative ima have to be to like make a difference so like how can I get into like my creative zone bc no matter how much I think I’m like just coming up with stupid shit
lock yourself down when it comes to games and social media, i use Opal, an app that blocks selected apps on your phone better than the native screen time in the settings does
the key to having creative ideas is to just be bored. you can't get creative when you constantly have stimulation coming in the form of distractions like games and social media, notice how you might come up with your best ideas or think of productive things to do when you're in the shower doing nothing or trying to go to bed. people have an idea that boredom is an undesirable thing that should be avoided but you can utilize boredom to your advantage by creating boredom to induce creativity or productivity
Alr I’ll try being bored
I’ll give this a try as well
hellos
i get u,it feels like a massive decision. CS is a fantastic field with tons of opportunities, but it's okay to have some doubt!! its normal. rmb that many ppl start college with undeclared majors or switch paths as they explore. Maybe try consider talking to a career counselor or taking a few intro courses in different subjects in your first year to get a feel for what truly excites you. It's all about finding your passion and what clicks for you. Don't stress too much; you've got time to figure it out!
but you've already taken the first step by recognizing it's holding you back! like all things, try to break ur task into small session and set deadlines for each. Use apps like Forest to block distractions during work time! theres a #forest-codes channel too! and maybe u can find a study buddy or an accountability partner who can keep you on track, its on #study-buddies . And most importantly, remind yourself why ur doing all this, ur long term goals and dreams. It's all about finding the right balance between work and play, and you've got this
I mean I don’t have the money to buy forest but I’ll try the study channels
Thanks
Can someone guide as to how can i get my score up in my minor tests...
I am a NEET aspirant and i recently gave my 3rd minor test, last time I didn't practiced much questions and that ended up costing me, however this time I resolved that problem and solved many questions but it ended up similarly......
I wasn't able to complete my paper and left 10 ques in physics 2 ques in chem un answered......
Now it sucks as i know that i could have solved those questions as they were easy....
It seems like I cannot manage my time properly.........
Any Advise would be appreciated 😇😇😇
When you first get the test, look over the whole thing and just skim the questions to give you an overview.
Then you can calculate approximately how much time you need to spend for each question and budget accordingly.
If you get stuck on a question, don't spend a lot of time on it, just move on to the next question. Come back to it later when you've gone through all the other questions if you get the time
Thanks... Really appreciate it!!
Anyone have an recommendations on a place to find cheap textbooks ?
aside from udemy are there any other good addons you recommend?
There are some to watch movies and series, to learn languages, etc.
if you could recommend a language learning one, that'd be much appreciated!
been just over a month since i started waking up at 0530 every morning, started cooking really good breakfast since last week because of the spare time that i have before class. ty for those who encouraged me :D
senior year gonna be rough tho, i have college classes to do rn and its lowkey kinda hard to do my work for the day
i just start blanking out and lose focus, not even scrolling on my phone cuz ive been using a flip phone for a while, also not scrolling on the internet either
i just lose focus
I think they removed it, I only found the programming one 😦
ah bummer, thanks for checking, i appreciate it
Like Eva said, set clear time limits for each section, prioritize questions you're confident in, and leave the tougher ones for later ( i always do this esp maths ) Regular practice, esp with full length mock tests, its importantl to get comfortable with managing your time during the actual exam. Review your mistakes, learn from them, and practice under pressure. Don't forget to stay calm during the test, and if you're stuck on a question, use the process of elimination. You've got this🕒
maybe try Amazon? or Chegg, which offers textbook rentals, eTextbooks, and used books at affordable prices. u can also use BookFinder, it allows you to compare prices from multiple online bookstores, including AbeBooks and Amazon, to find the cheapest option for your textbooks. If you're open to buying used books, ThriftBooks has a wide selection of affordable used textbooks, often with free shipping.
good job for establishing that early morning routine and making yourself some good breakfasts
When you start to blank out and lose focus, take short breaks, then get back on track. also set a time limit for each study session of urs. rmb to get rid of ur phone for minimal distractions. You're on the right track, and with a bit of persistence, you'll handle ur senior year well
:D

Heyya, just a quick question what does a girl really expect from her dream guy? like what qualities he should possess & any specific traits which are rare nowadays...(please be as specific as possible for easier understanding)....I am on the path of self improvement in various aspects of life so wanted some advice....
What the-
which case do you think would be better for my main rig?
hiii I just ended my very toxic relationship with my girlfriend. I am just fine and happy now but I don't know what will I do so that I open every advice and etc. And also I am first year med student someone can give advice about everything :))
when it comes to what a girl expects from her dream guy, it's all about a mix of qualities. First is respect, treating her right and valuing her. Then kindness, a sense of humor, and good communication are also key. girls like guys who can make them laugh sometimes. also empathy, ambition, and loyalty go a long way. Oh, and having goals and being a bit independent shows you've got your own thing going on! Compatibility, patience, and understanding when things get tricky are a bonus too. But rmb nobody's perfect, and it's more about finding someone who clicks with you and shares the journey. you'll attract someone who appreciates all the stuff you bring to the table
hi good job for getting out of that toxic relationship and finding your happiness again, that takes strength., u did well
As for what's next, this is your chance to rediscover yourself and explore new things. Take time for some self care, hang out with friends, pursue ur hobbies, and just enjoy the freedom. And for the med part, rmb to stay organized, manage your time well, and don't hesitate to reach out when you need help. You've got this

Does anybody know how to cutback screen time from 8-9 to 2-3?
go gym
start small
makes you healthy
i noticed that ive gotten more energetic during the day when i started working out
just a random question... how much lead do you guys prefer sticking out in a mechanical pencil
Like 2 mm
How to keep your energy levels steady for the day
and also how to stay in the zone for longer
and keeping your mind in one place, not wandering away
Literally so tired that I fell asleep and it’s my phone slipping out of my hand and hitting the floor that woke me up
Go to bed, put your phone on the table
please take care of yourself
Aren’t we on the same boat rn ? 😭
are you up at night rn
No it’s just 19:10
ohh sorry i assumed this
I need to be focus in class
And I need to have energy
How to get energy
And be focused
well, get enough sleep, move around
a few things i found in my experience
are
moving around
sitting up straight
not lying in the chair
Coffee ?
that helps
i also recently started taking it, and i just turned 17
Idk when is it’s not harmful to brain growth anymore though
i mean keep yourself in an active position
sheesh i didnt know this
It gets you addicted and you can’t live without it
So idk
yeah i'm not addicted. it's hardly been a week
one thing i recently started doing was, hovering above the seat to keep myself in an uncomfortable position
I can’t fly thought
As soon as I get stuck on one I fall asleep
It’s like automatic
kinda like this
any uncomfy position makes you alert because of the slightly painful feeling
like standing instead of sitting down
at least for me it did a lil bit
Bro made a visual support
lol this is probably sounding ridiculous so i'ma let the others give advice on this now
Lmao this is so dumb 😅
I used to hit myself but it didn’t work
same
Although one thing that I heard Dr. Andrew Huberman talk about was "Mood follows action"
but idk if that works if i try to act more energetic and then my brain is like "ok we working now"
also heard him talk about Binaural beats 40hz
makes you focus more apparently
and also this

..aaand i just started answering my own questions
but still if anyone has something to say, please do
because i can be dumb at times
Damn lol
I would just recommend exercising regularly, drinking lots of water and fixing your diet to increase your overall energy levels. If you're feeling exceptionally tired, wash your face/take a shower, make your room brighter and put your feet above your heart. Also, snacks. Carbs and fruits work well for a 10-15min break :)
Regarding coffee, it's not a drug or powerful energy drink. It won't get you addicted if you don't abuse it. One cup of coffee in the morning is just fine. Avoid it in the afternoon. I, personally, make a long expresso (in a thermal bottle) and drink it slowly as my morning goes by. It works super well for me
Anyone has a good way to cram or memorize a unit in two days just for extra study for a exam? I do understand the content yet I don’t trust myself to remember it (biology exam)
IDK what exactly you need to remember but for those cycle things it helped for me to make up song or silly sentence/story to remember
Practice questions. Question after question after question. As you notice you're forgetting something, review it and keep doing questions!
yoo guys do you know what brand of phone is that? 🤔
starting my uni in 2 weeks, anyone got any tips on how to stay up to date on studies?
like in highschool we had tests and such so we had to learn but uni weve only got exams, any tips for staying up to daate w my classes?
it might take a bit of effort and some gradual adjustments. u can start by setting a specific goals and limits for yourself, like allocating specific hours for work/study and leisure. Break the habit by finding activities you enjoy offline, like exercising, reading, ur hobby or just walk around. Also, consider using screen time tracking apps to monitor your usage and remind you to take breaks.
General advice:
- Use your calendar and practice time blocking: tracking important dates (exams) and having reminders of those dates is really useful for determining your current progress and adjusting your efforts if necessary. time blocking allows you to see which activities are priorities and then adjust your other commitments around those. having set times (with some flexibility) for specific activites also decreases the resistance against starting said tasks, and decreases the willpower (finite resource) you deplete from task switching
Academic advice:
-
Effective study techniques: if you haven't started looking at different study strategies and their effectiveness (science-based) in terms of long-term retention of information, that's a good place to start. it will minimise the time spent at the desk and allow you to develop more comprehensive understanding of topics so you can contextualise and apply your knowledge at a higher level. I'd recommend the book 'Make It Stick' since it touches on just that
-
Engaging with content: try to make it work for you, and understand how the course is delivering information and how you can better learn. e.g lectures are a very passive way of learning but you can pre-read, set questions for yourself, ask the lecturer questions and link topics to syllabus points
-
Reflection: use a review system to track your progress and efforts, since focusing on an end goal (e.g test results) doesn't provide feedback until after, and you can't adjust your behaviours during preparation if that is your sole benchmark. track hours, log productiveness, energy levels and behaviours before and after (e.g exercise before makes* me feel energised and focused*)
remember to eat regular meals and snacks to maintain ur blood sugar levels! also stay hydrated drink water. Try to incorporating short walks or stretches into your day to keep your body moving and awake. if ur tired, u can take a 15-20 minute nap to make u feel more energized (this doesnt work for me but it works for ppl around me, so it depends on what words best for u!) remember to get a good night sleep too, dont sleep too late.

turn off notifications, close unnecessary tabs, and create a focused workspace. Prioritize and break ur tasks into smaller sections. Find your peak productivity times and schedule your most important work during those periods (for me is night time) A change of scenery or a quick walk can work too.
Consider using techniques like the Pomodoro method. work for a set time, then take a short break. rmb it's okay to daydream a bit, be patient with yourself
Start by creating a condensed study guide with key concepts, formulas, and definitions. Then, break your time into focused study blocks with short breaks in between like 25 minutes of studying, 5 minutes of break. test yourself on the material as you go (i always do this) u can also use memory aids like mnemonics ( a techniques that help you remember information more easily by using patterns, associations, or simple tricks.) or acronyms for complex terms ( For exp, "NASA" is an acronym for the "National Aeronautics and Space Administration.")
u can also teach the material to an imaginary friend, explaining it out loud really helps solidify your understanding. And don't forget a good night's sleep before the exam. stay calm, you've got this.
get organized with a planner or digital calendar to keep track of important dates and assignments. Take notes, and don't hesitate to ask questions if you're unclear about something. Form study groups or find a #study-buddies , it can help you stay accountable and gain different perspectives. Break your study sessions into small section.
Thanks very much 👍🏾
@wispy arrow you can check this too
does anyone have any good ways or techniques to remember a lot of information for a good amount of time ?
active recall
"It's a fancy way of saying that first you need to understand and learn the following and after some days, you come back and check if you got the answers correct"
It works like magic cuz not only does it helps you remember better, it fills up the gaps you had when you first started learning it cuz you don't usually understand every content at the first go
As someone who tried pomodoro, I'd honestly advise them not to do it. The 5 minutes break is very distracting and when you achieve a certain flow or zone, the break time will destroy it. My greatest advise would be to study in the morning for 2 hours straight. Your mental energy is very high in the morning so it's the best. Doing in at a later time will be bad cuz your mental battery is already low by then. Before studying, make sure to do your morning rituals like washroom hygiene, coffee.
Is there anyone who can help with Automation in CS?
This is some quality advise you just gave

How I can study biology and don't forget it after few weeks cause when I take lectures it seems i am learning every thing but after few days I forget most of the important things .like some specific function , glands name their functions etc
if anyone needs help with any history or science dm's are all ways open
How can we ban someone?
this idiot keeps joining study rooms and playing a video of a guy dancing without underwear
and keeps switching study rooms as well
Report it to mods
if you are doing everything right like getting sunlight first thing in the morning, eating enough and healthy, drinking water, physical exercise, figuring out the amount of sleep that your body needs (everyone is different) and taking ample breaks and mind resets and it's still not working then it may be a medical condition or unrealistic expectations of how a human body should work
humans have fluctuating cycles of productiveness throughout the month and day and it is even more pronounced if you menstruate
try active learning and spaced repetition. Take good notes during lectures, then review them within a day or two to reinforce the material. pretend you're explaining it to a friend, this usually works for me as it helps solidify the concepts. u can also use flashcards for terms, functions, and gland names, platforms like Anki are excellent for spaced repetition. remember to also study regularly in shorter, focused sessions rather than long sessions. Also, make use of visuals and diagrams, they can help simplify complex concepts
Thanks 😊
I need your suggestions ASAP I have a exam tomorrow and I have not prepared really well for it I have the whole night left so should I sleep or study the whole night what do you recommend? [i get pretty stressed the night before a exam so i would not get the best sleep }
Hi
I need a help
Self sabotage is happening to me
I am not able to keep my emotions away
I'm feeling guilt for something which I haven't even done
All that is affecting my studies
My mind is finding a reason to let me down
Help me
Anyone?
Sleep is important I mean
I think not sleeping and learning less work the same than skipping sleep and learn
Appreciate the advice man
Dms ?
idk if mods will allow it or no
I struggle with this sometimes too. There are several strategies - write down your thoughts, set a time limit for your worrying, make a to do list that is tangible + achievable and re-direct the best you can. You'll immediately start feeling better once you start doing some actual work. Start with the 5 min rule and the momentum will carry you. Trust yourself. Be kind to yourself. Worrying is normal, just don't let it consume you.
I believe all of us understand the stress of last minute exam prep💀 for me, rather than an all-nighter, I recommend getting at least a few hours of sleep. sincea well rested mind can retain information better. then the next day u can start by reviewing the most critical topics and key points first. then make use of active learning techniques like summarizing what you've studied or teaching the material to yourself. And rmb it's ok not to cover everything comprehensively, just prioritize the essential concepts. Try to get some sleep before the exam, even a couple of hours can make a difference in how well you recall information during the test. Good luck!!
rmb that ur mind can sometimes play tricks on u, and unfounded guilt is more common than you might think🫂 try to acknowledge that these feelings are not based on reality, you haven't done anything wrong. Take some deep breaths and focus on the present moment. When studying, break your tasks into smaller sessions. If these emotions become overwhelming, consider talking to someone, it could be ur friend, here, counsellor or ur family. it can help support in managing your emotions and helping you focus on your studies. You don't have to go through this alone, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
thanks for your advice, i did sleep for a bit before the exam

Samsung Galaxy Tab A, Lenovo Tab M10 Plus, Amazon Fire HD 10, Huawei MediaPad T5, Microsoft Surface Go
thank you so much!
hui guys
U will forget no matter what unless you practice it
Lmao🤣
try engaging with the material actively, like summarizing in your own words or teaching it to someone else. u can also use mnemonics . frequently test yourself without peeking at notes, and teach what you've learned to reinforce your understanding. Break up study sessions, stay organized, and get good sleep. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and minimizing distractions.
Not possible for me, i come back home from school at 2pm and i have to study in the afternoon
i have observed that i have been more optimistic and motivated in the mornings and then my brain just doesn't co-operate later on in the day
also i can relate, the little breaks don't feel like something i need at the moment because i think i can still keep going until i just can't
Ty🙌
but this is also just me being a wimp, because I know that I can go on.. but sometimes when i don't push, i also don't feel like it then.

Hi
hello
can soley depending of youtube lectues get me 75 percent in exams
Yes
If you want higher then go to lectures and note down anything extra stuff that ur proff mentions (that wasn’t mentioned in the videos)
hey guys, do you have dedication and acknowledgement in your thesis? can i have a look?
Can you guys share your sleeping schedule advices like how you make it more effective, as I've noticed if I don't get regular 8hrs sleep I really can't focus much as compared to when I sleep for 8-9hrs(on holidays).
I get around 7hrs of sleep during class days, 11pm to 6am
Can someone tell me some really good revision tips cuz I've an exam tomorrow nd I'm done w learning up stuffs nd I just wanna store it so well that I'll be able to remember almost everything in the examination haul
sleep >>> study. if you're tired you won't study effectively and you'll waste time trying to focus on the textbook. good sleep will lead to easier study sessions and more productivity
How do I turn off leave and join sound for discord VC on android?
Could someone please share what work timers they tend to use on Forest? I see a mixture of timers that are 50 mins, 60 mins, and even 120 mins long in the forest codes chat. I’m trying to focus but don’t know where to start.
Also, what settings do you suggest for Forest? Not sure which timer settings most people use in this Discord
Pretty petty question but I have to volunteer at concessions for NHs hours and I did this once last year but this time they want us to get a food handlers certificate and I feel like i don’t need that certificate cuz I did just fine without it but the certi is a must so should I just skip through it(I found the answers online lol) bc I also have a small analysis project due tmrw first thing in the morning?
at the bare minimum know temps for food reheating and how long food can be out. then skip that shit and use common sense
getting the certificate is pretty easy lol, but thats a lil weird lol
Did anyone see my previous message?
Saw it but it totally depends on your own capacity if you are able to focus for 1 hour then only go for 60 minutes .....I used to do 50 mins+ 10 mins break on repeat
Hey!
I want to improve my english so i need a friend to pratice the english. Can you help me
hii
does anyone know from where I can apply for an online free course of mathematics or learn the mathematics for CS?
Don't cram everything in one go. Your brain needs time to absorb the information. So study for a bit, then take a 5-10 minute break. Stretch, get a snack, or just walk around. also use active recall. Don't just passively read your notes or books. Try to explain the concepts out loud or teach them to an imaginary friend. It might sound crazy, but it really helps solidify your understanding. u shouold also condense your notes. Write down the main points or make flashcards with key terms. This forces you to summarize and remember the essentials. u can also practice with past exams or quiz yourself. It's like a rehearsal for the big show. You'll identify weak spots and work on them. Create mind maps, diagrams, or flowcharts to represent complex information. And most importantly, get a good night's sleep. Your brain consolidates memories during sleep. you've got this! Stay calm, trust your preparation
it's not just about what you think you know, it's about ethics and legality. doing it might teach you something new about food safety. as tempting as it is to take the easy route, it's probably best to go ahead and get that certificate.
It's about preventing others from getting sick too right? Allergen handling, glove use and hygiene, etc...
The right thing to do is to get the certificate
Started school on Monday, today is Friday, I was excited, I'm not anymore and I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to keep myself motivated and keep seeing the bright side cuz I used to and I don't want to fall off that path
I mean yeah but I’ve done it all before and without the certificate and I have to volunteer in like 6 hours and I finished my other hw but I only have like maybe one and half hour to actually focus in the course so I’ll see if I can rightly get it but otherwise ima just skip to the test part and yeah….
Literally the stupidest thing they could do tho
They never required it last year and people were just fine
Thanks, Stefan!
Np
not sure if this is what ur looking for but harvard's CS50 intro course is free
hey
first you need to search for the precise definitions of the words "information", "data", and "knowledge", only then you can choose which is which ^^

does anyone have an existing website that I could use the code on and edit some of it to my preferred details? It'll be of much help. Thank you!
could anyone with experience tell me if a crt monitor is worth it? I dont know if the monitor would be that great for working but their cheap nowadays
Hi. I need some help. I already have a DFD LEVEL 1. I need some help to check if what's lacking or what's need to be done. I can give you the file of what I made.

i can feel the pain of not having something called as IQ
i hope you get well soon
The technology behind crypto is cool but the community has ruined it. It is understandable for anyone to be suspicious given the multitude of horror stories and especially when you are market testing in such a weird way
I hope your frontal lobe develops
did i claim that i made a product already?
umm i have 4000 survey results by one on one communication , so i think ik what am i doing
believing in already present sources of data and getting your own set of data has a difference
sure , i think you have many companies and experience based on those companies you built , thanks for the advice mam
Did I say that you did? I mentioned market testing
You getting so hostile about this is 😬
ultimately i havent forced anyone to fill the form , so such alligations effect my reputation as an individual in the server
You’re doing that all on your own bud
ok lets see what happens in the future bud
btw this survey is verified by the server mods
Hey, we accepted the survey to help their study about it. Please be kind to each other 👍🏽
lol. you are doing market research for a crypto startup - on a discord server for students - no one is going to take you seriously. if you wanted to get legitimate answers you could at least pretend you needed help on a project
perhaps open with that next time
there's a lot wrong with the crypto bros survey lol but best of luck and don't pull an FTX!!
why you planning on buying that? on a budget?
Does anybody know how to ACTUALLY recover from a breakup
find new hobbies and try to socialize more
I am writing dairy nowadays but i don't go out because of my strict family
double down on ur interests, explore stuff you couldnt in the relationship because you have more free time now
Time will heal.. I didnt believe that too but seriously if u focus on yourself and care yourself more, time can help to heal
guys i have to work but i keep getting sleepy and i keep losing focus
but i did wake up at 2 am with 5 hours of sleep
so that i could study more
and um
that didn't happen
i think i should just sleep for now
man i'm fkd
i have a serious problem with keeping consistent focus
i aim to be superman, but at the end nothing gets done because i was absent minded the whole time
this pattern has been going on for years
and it doesn't feel good to be a loser
i sit down without distractions in a quiet place
but my mind is in a wonderland
i keep coming back to work and i drift away again.. and again
repeat until the last minute
and then everything explodes
the only time i actually got stuff done and did my job right was when i was suffering really hard and i got desperate
but that only happened when i experienced a really big loss
and i very hardly passed in 3 subjects in which i was certain that i was gonna fail
I don't want to repeat the same mistakes and the same BS again
well, i guess the solution would be mindfulness meditation and sleeping properly and avoiding the screens and other unnecessary activities to keep my mind busy with
and to fix my priorities and to realize that work is the path that leads to my goals
Work is also the antidote to my suffering
because most, if not all of my suffering is related to work performance
"Am i doing a good job?" is an important question for me to ask myself
"Do your job without complaining"
"If it's endurable then endure it, stop complaining"
"Ask yourself 'Why can't i endure this?', you'll be ashamed by the answer."
-Marcus Aurelius
I'm sorry, i keep talking and then i answer myself as well.. as if i'm journaling in chat
but it's just how i deal with things
you can tell me to shut up, and i will then..
i'm sorry..
I have a similar problem kinda
like I want to do incredibly good
but sometimes i just kind of let stuff go because I would rather enjoy relaxing more than putting in work that may or may not really matter in the future
yes and this is a problem
and the suffering is real
and i have been to the extreme before
and this is history repeating itself
i had this whole thing the last year
and i don't want it again
i was depressed and almost suicidal
i hated myself for existing
i don't want that again
"Either you change, or everything repeats itself"
man, it's kinda difficult to give you some advice, but it's obvious that your mindset is destroying your mental health. i don't know what things in life have brought you to that point, if it's something out of you, you might need professional help, however, know that there's nothing in life that worth punishing yourself like that.

Hello. I hope you are well. I'm looking for a Back end Node.js course, but most of the courses I find are in a non-SQL language. I couldn't find anything in SQL, especially postesql. If anyone knows of any good courses, send me a message

I'm a high school student aiming to be in medical stream cause idk what to do but the thing is I'm not really advocated to it, some days I study hard and the others i just lurk around not knowing what to do endlessly scrolling on internet or sleeping
Results dropping score then again getting disappointed and all and starting anew but this isn't going to help me i know and I realise that but it's just this vicious cycle
Its not even like I'm completely a lost cause because scores are not super bad they're just not up to my expectations but here i am still wondering what to do rather than studying
I just don't know why medical and neither do I know what else would i do.....
I don't know if i should ask here but whatever
How did James have 12 hours a day of "free" time when he was in College, i mean shouldn't he go to the classes or something?
i just realised, it was during covid wasn't it? -,-
Making the habit of scheduling every night for the next day would help
And check which apps are most distracting and try to stop using those
I am a med student as well
Had the very same problem
Once you start studying you'll realise it's not even that big of a task
Your main focus for now should be consistency
Don't think about how many hours etc
Yep also 12H study sessions are going to set you up for failure study effectively and take short naps when bord and make it enjoyable to you.

Bro go learn coding so you can at least do it yourself.
So you are a kid ok. Watch the video a about Sam bankman freed before proceeding and letting you know the work force is not what you think it is and you should think of your future and study well. Make a resume and start working now it make it a lot easier to get a job in future.
