Hii! Anyone studying philosophy here that could maybe help expain a concept to me? Im brand new to this and Im trying to wrap my head around content determination theories
Send a screenshot of the text in which the concept is used. Context may be useful
So I have a presentation due that is literally just «What are the main theories of content determination», right now I am reading on The causal history approach, but I dont understand anything of these articles hahah. So I am wondering if anyone has heard about this and could maybe try to explain it simply, maybe with some counter arguments to give some context as well
The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy may be useful if some entry fits what are u looking for, sorry for not being more useful
Thank you!!
oh thank you! ❤️ you saved me quantum hours !
hi beautiful people!! i have read this somewhere, and i thought of sharing it with you ^^ "discipline is a skill, not a character trait. and just like any skill, it can be practiced and improved upon incrementally. try not to get discouraged if you have a day, or multiple days, where you are less disciplined than you would like or need to be. dont quit. dont spend the next week binging netflix because you think it's a hopeless endeavor. just get up the next day and try again. each day you try is more practice, each day you practice, you'll get a little better, and that continual improvement will pay dividends in the long run. keep at it."

Can you all suggest me a good professional ball point pen for my highschool use?

I really like the new generations of Pocketbook. They are inexpensive and can be bought at almost any electronics store
Hello everyone, if you got spare time can I please ask you to answer my short questionnaire? It will be a huge help for my dissertation. The link is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScR_jtuFuYr4GoWBcIX9l04pvFFX9mOxcwigHtUvjbaIYYnMw/viewform?usp=sf_link Thank you very much in advance!

Guys please tell me couple of websites were you can read manga and download various books
Goodreads, I guess.
Mangadex, my favorite thing is that it has keyboard navigation
what level are you working at?
for manga: Tachiyomi, for books: anna s archive
can somebody help me make an activity calendar
something like the one github uses for contributions
just for studying
hi which Pomodoro website do you recommend using?
Can ya'll help me out by filling out this questionnaire?
It's for a project that I'm doing and it's only three questions long.
Forest is good (well it’s technically an app) but it’s paid on IOS (one-time purchase)… I’m not sure if it’s free on android. It also has a chrome extension
Fiveable is good for studying in groups online and has timers and all
There are probably other websites but these are what I find suitable for me
can anyone summarise whats so good abt anki? i currently use an app called study smarter but i've heard good things abt anki
guys is james streamin today?
I wanted to know how forest keeps u focused, because you could just start a tree and leave ur study in between
if you're using the extension you can block certain websites and if you're using the app you can study in deep focus mode which also blocks certain apps
what are you guys and gals doing when you're done with studying for a specific exam? I have my logic exam on Tuesday, but in this time I've already done almost all of the exercises, done this years and last years mock exam in appropriate exam time, and now I have 3-4 days left without knowing what I could do else, besides going over and doing the little ones I skipped or doing the real exams of last years.
Do you feel like you're prepared? Maybe you can take a break for 1 day
Otherwise doing the real exams of previous years is good practice
I'm like iffy, I've compared the mock of last year I completed recently with the one I did last year and there wasn't too much change I think in my opinion, although I did that old mock on Monday or so, so maybe my results would be better if I redo it
and then there's always this question "can I shorten all this syntactic stuff to it's bare minimum, does he accept it in this format? can I do it all in 2 hours?" etc etc
maybe reflect on the syllabus and see if there's something you're less competent at
go to office hours and ask your teacher/prof what else you can do. some prof don't mind giving advice like that.
if you have other exams maybe start preparing for them. even if you don't, it's a good habit to practice things regardless of whether or not you have an exam.
Can anyone help me with this qsn
wish i felt that confident in my skills before an exams
good for you and good luckk 🙏
this is my only exam in this exam period. I have 4 other ones in mid March. I want to start studying for them right after this one, but I don't think it's possible to do it in 1 month for all of them, especially with a student job on the side and 2 of those 4 exams being probability&statistics and linear algebra
I think I should step down from one or two of them before I put all my effort split into them before then failing both or all because I split it in this short time
which sucks, because I wanted to finally scratch off algebra, while I again didn't get to focus on it much this semester, while I'm not too good at statistics either. I was an atrocious student until recently
ouch i def understand where you're coming from
if you feel like you wouldnt be able to deal with all of that yea id def advise you do that
i know lots of students who had to retake calc 1/alg 1/probability just cuz they were stubborn and thought they could manage all of that
but idk if it's still early on in the semester maybe test it out and see if you can handle the workload
ive had moments when i thought i was going to fail everything but overall it turned out so much better than expected
so it can be pretty tricky to decide
it's almost the chain rule applied to (2x^2-8x+5)^(0.5)
like the numerator is pretty much the derivative of (2x^2-8x+5)/4
does anybody knowhow to gain access of textbooks for free online, such as a pdf
I need help to focus studying, since i started engineering all seems to difficult, in high schools i had good grades studying less or something like 1 hour.
Now I'can't focus for more than 1/1h.30m because everything seems too hard to understand.
I already failed my math final so I need to take it again next months.
What can i do for improve myself?
I want to add, for reaching my uni i need to take train and is 1h.30m to arrive and same or +-2hours to return home, when I'm back I feel with 0 energy when i should study to keep me in the program deadlines
The only thing i do everyday is playing games, hate myself
I’m not sure if this will help or not but college is definitely harder and it’s to be expected that it will take twice sometimes even thrice the effort it’s usually taken before to get good grades
And yea it’s generally advised to take a break in between study sessions so if you find you can’t focus for more than an hour at a time… that’s a good start, you know your focus limit. Take a break after an hour of studying (5/10 minutes) and do it all over again. Sometimes it’ll feel frustrating and you’ll feel lost but that’s okay eventually you’ll find your footing. And most importantly, if you have questions you’d ideally want to go to office hours. From my experience no one goes to office hours but sometimes it can be really helpful and feels like a private lesson. I’d suggest going there with concrete questions about the material/homework that you’ve been struggling with. And don’t let anyone fool you, everyone struggles, but no matter what’s going on there’s a solution to almost every problem so don’t be too hard on yourself and enjoy your life a little.
If you are in a situation where you have exams coming up I’d suggest going over the materials really quickly (by quickly I mean a day or half a day because some courses have loaded syllabi) and just redo practice problems. If you find yourself unable to keep up with ideas for each question I’d suggest that as a start you start going over questions by topic/chapter, that way you’ll learn to spot when a question is about this or about that.
Ideally you’d want to have mastered that by the time exams come around , but if you didn’t, no big deal. And I’d argue that the most important part of learning something is understanding the theory and questioning things, and not just parroting whatever a teacher says. It might take some time and not every teacher will spoon feed you the information/tricks. But that’s what Google is for right?! I’d also actually try to take interest in the materials.
Also I can’t stress how important studying in groups is. Try to find someone from your class to study with. It feels less lonely that way and you can encourage each other and ask each other questions if you have any… because students can sometimes explain things better than teachers… cuz professors can be shitty sometimes and might just be there because the university funds their research and want them to teach in exchange 🫠
Then again, those are things that I’ve found helpful for me… and might not necessarily be helpful for you. But what’s the harm in trying?
Sorry for the super long message

Hello, i am majoring computer science and currently i am freshman, im struggling with discrete structures (discrete mathematics) a lot and there might be a chance to take that class again next year (i still have to do finals, i have to do them very good and i will really do my best). Do you know if struggling with this class (for example not having very good grade or eventually taking class again) will affect my career life, for example not being accepted to some internship or being moved down on the list when it comes to recruiting or something like that?
Does anyone use Linux for university and development and coding??
I don't think it will directly affect your career options, but DM forms the basic foundation for CS and all its subjects. You might wanna try Kenneth Rosen book. It helped me a lot in building my concepts
Hello for the engineers can I ask for a blueprint of a residential building from Architectural plan to Bill of quantities to be used as an example for my project? please dm me THANKYOU
Hello everybody. Maybe it will be a weird question but I want to learn programming. It s not enough for me to learn Python superficially at school once a week. Do you have a channel, software, book, or anything else to recommend for this? And which programming languages should I learn, what are your thoughts about Binary code, how can I learn? I hope you help thanks everyone in advance.
nicee you are interested in programming. explore freecodecamp videos on python and check out creating apps in python or using python for machine learning in the channel videos . you can find many sources in the channel . pick one and start learning.
Thank you very much. I will definitely try.
hellooo
i would like to ask for some help
i have a test on thursday, havent started studying yet and its like i dont feel like studying
im just getting distracted by random stufff
ik which part to focus in and that if i study that part i will be able to pass
but idkw its like i cant start with the action of studying
well, im going to push myself cause i really want to get out of this circle 😭
but pls, any useful recommendations to not let this happen again??? i mean, leaving evrything to the last day cause i get really overwhelmed and anxious
HELP
I can't move my Adobe-cracked apps from Disk C to Disk D in my computer
and there's literally no space left, it's not working properly
WHAT DO I DO
I HAVE NO TIME LEFT
id recommend studying right after u wake up without looking at your phone or anything
but what works for me most of the time is that i study for an hour or 2 and when i realize i lost all my focus i take a break even for an hour because i know i wont study
but that is when i have a lot of time
Guys please give me any tips to study once and remember forever 🥺
i'd suggest that for the time being you put everything that distracts you away and start studying. i have 4-5 day gaps between my exams for some really loaded courses and i truly believe 4-5 days are enough for someone who has kept up with their coursework.
i've def been where you have been and tended to run away from hard stuff instead of face them, but i soon learned that it was not a viable strategy and even though it made me anxious i just had to push through it. i just have a supportive friend group and we all take almost the same classes and so have the same struggles. it really helps to know there are people out there like you struggling as much as you and yet are putting in the work and getting good grades.
and exercise can go a long way in dealing with anxiety and bad thoughts. doesn't have to be vigorous exercise. you can just hike or go on a walk with someone/ alone. it really helps.
at the end of the day all you can do is just face the issues and nothing else will help but seating yourself down at your desk and getting to work.
Hello guys
I'm facing problem for some time I'm not able to think clearly about my study even i know the exam date i only have 1 month left from now and i really want to pass and get good marks in this exam but whenever I'm trying to study my mind drag me from study and I'm stuck in a realm of imagination that never gonna happen and i know that but in this imagination i lost my 20-30 min of precious time maybe this is because I'm not enjoying the studies and my mind need a stream of dopamine that produced by my imagination and not by studies so guys plz tell me how to overcome this and live in real world and stop imagining thing that I don't have rn and focus on present
Suggest me some tips if you read this.
sorry for late response, ty for the long message.
As long-distance college student i don't have any study group so i can just do it alone,
idk what to do, this semester is already gone so I'm trying to improve in the next one.
same problem as you..

Yeah the thing is that I understand DM and I really find it interesting, but I dont know how I managed to not succeed in previous exams. Im now studying for the final exam which is in 2 days and I will really give my 100% on this one, I really hope to do well in this exam
How do you guys stay focused ?
I can't help but think about completely unrelated stuff while studying (e.g: Studying German and next thing you know it's pancake time 😭 )

unless you're content with being a neet (which is pretty based), don't give up as life will get considerably worse
I don't have ADHD, no, I simply overthink everything, and I'm not a neet either.
Discovering new things is what helps me get up in the morning, so I want to learn as many things as long as I breathe
learn an instrument
learn to code in a new language
build your own radio station
host your own website with neocities
learn a martial art (muay thai and kickboxing are pretty cool)
if you aren't already get your /fit/ness up (cardio is a great start, just run around your neighborhood)
you unironically have limitless potential, and access to the internet gives you more than enough knowledge
arguably too much

Dragon Ball is pretty cool sure enough
become the superman
becoming a renaissance man is even easier nowadays
find something cool, and research into it as hard as you can
I go to the gym 5 time/week, I went up to blue belt in judo, making a new website sounds cool too, and aside from guitar and harmonica saxophone sounds like a cool thing to learn

I'm not sure what that means, but in any case, thank you
You unironically hyped me up there

Ah

Tuesday: Back, Biceps
Wednesday: Shoulders
Thursday: Legs
Friday: Full Body
(I do abs everyday at the end of my workout too)
Weekend: Rest
My friend there is also going to teach me boxing tomorrow, sounds fun
Anyway goodnight for now
the first thing is to acknowledge that this is completely normal and makes us human. what u likely need to do is to block out some time to think. sounds silly, but if you don't give yourself to think without external thoughts (whether through music, content, people, anything). go for a walk outside by yourself and no music or any distractions. give yourself time to process thoughts and feelings so that they don't protrude with your study time. also give journaling a try
I will, thank you!
How to write Todo list in todo list section?
u mean the boxes i guess, they are emojis.

Thank you 😅 i don't know that was emojis.
no problem mate
practice, start small, use a timer, and remember you are learning a new skill so it's ok to wobble.
I like the using positive reinforcement in the early stages. This allows you to turn moments of distraction into opportunities. Whenever you realise you have got lost/distracted/whatever, instead of thinking "oh no silly me, I got distracted again, that's bad" turn it into "oh nice, I realise I got distracted and now that I'm back I can return to work, well done!"
reward yourself for returning to work rather than scolding yourself for getting distracted
idk where to ask this but
is it normal for me wanting to study masters in a field that is different from my undergraduate?
lol yes
I did documentary photography as an undergrad
then an MSc in forestry
between my undergrad and MSc I worked as a bike messenger, production assistance, and tree surgery
do whatever you want
I will say this though, if you are making a big subject change look for a masters program that is set up for 'career changers' and maybe think about doing it part time
Being a part time masters student meant I had a lot more space to fill knowledge/skill gaps that were a result of coming from an unrelated background
i seee , thanks
This actually makes a lot of sense
Never thought of using positive thinking up until now, thanks!
yeah man, I think we all fall into the trap of being hard on ourselves. I think most of use don't need to make any effort when it comes to telling ourselves off. So we can relax and make a gentle effort to congratulate ourselves.
In meditation this is often referred to as the "ah ha" moment. So when you sitting and you realise your mind has wondered you train yourself to respond with "ah ha, I was distracted, that's great, another opportunity to practice coming back to my practice".
If you want ;^)
My point more was don't limit yourself. If you want to change subject then do it, it would be worse to slave away in a field that is of no interest to you or that you've lost your love of
Thank you internet stranger
No worries other internet stranger
@naive nimbus what's your subject atm and what are you thinking about changing to?
Visual communication design
Changing to computer science (?)
Or management
I don't really enjoy it here anymore
My former self might have liked it but now I don't like it anymore
yeah, the cliche is that half the point of doing an undergrad is working out what you don't want to study haha
but visual communication design to computer science doesn't seem like a massive subject chance, not like going from history of art to medicine
Why is life like a circus?
Yeah
I just want to survive in the real world without begging my parents
you'll have tons of transferalables that will help explain your case and support applications.
everyone needs help from time to time
Thinking about this
at the end of the day we are super lucky to have the option of taking higher education
and even luckier to have the liberty to consider subject changes
leave passion for romance novels
In fiction
we're all clowns
...
But I feel it's useless
I don't know why, even if it's actually useful to go to university
Depression maybe
I've always found it really hard to pin down what useful/uselss is
the ideas about each will always change
You sound wise
I suppose it's always a half decent idea to double check that you aren't just interested in the "other thing"
if you see what I mean. Something we just want what don't currently have
Yes
That's the tough one
I still have difficulty committing and others
On the other hand, I want to be an easygoing person, but sometimes I want to be an important person in the world
Human dilemma
I don't know what I'm saying
haha it's all good
it can all get pretty confusing when you zoom out too far
it's ok to do it from time to time, but when you starting getting lost in it all come back to what you're doing now
No sweat! Take it easy!
you sound smart
My friends would not agree with you eheh
anybody know a website to download books for free??
boom bam
my motivation level is so low 🛌
I like to go for a short walk outside when I’m struggling with motivation.
Does anyone know of a good way to hang individual documents/notes on the wall without damage?
I know that after sticking the note on the wall, if you use water while removing it, there is no damage.
You can also use a blowdryer to remove stickers easily on the wall normally it won't damage the wall
How to have good relationship with family
lol it's not always easy it's best to get advice from a psychologist or so
Mmm that's a pretty big question!
yeah probably not best left to the advice of internet strangers
I can't do that
mine is very toxic maybe i am fault but I just want to live in peace
it's never your fault
you just have patience and wait till you move out
once you move out your relationship will be better
damn.. wait till you marry someone? 😭
i wish you the best luck.. but parents always need to vent their anger at some one and that someone can be you
you shouldn't take that and just ignore it
(i know it's easier said then done but there really isn't an other way)
I mean there's not a option to me so ye
am gonna do degree outside somewhere if i get chance just so i can live alone
till then

I prefer Yandex Judo but tomato tomato
While I'm not supposed to say: libgen.rs I don't know whether this is ban-able. :/ It's kinda illegal, but it allows you to gain access to documents which are otherwise really hard to obtain, so....
much appreciated
what exactly is there to leak?
just a phrase
I feel like trash, my eyes hurt when I move them, my bones are cold and I feel extremely weak
and tips?
I bet james grandma would have a bombass soup that would cure me in an hour

How to use the #to-do-lists do list

there are those who use neovim along with lsp rust-analyzer? I have question, how can I remap gl command (which show small pop-up menu when cursor on line with error) to another one?
is there a history help channel?
do we have a channel dedicated to exchange/overseas students?
No, but I suppose you could use any channel to ask wether someone is an exchange student ?
What should I do today? I am done with exams and I don't have books for next sem
Any personal projects?
If you have just finished an exam period I suggest you take a break and spend as much time outdoors as you can!
Jogging, reading a book in a cafe...
Hmm I can't go outside for reasons but will definitely read something or start learning Japanese I have stretched long enough
I don't mean to pry, but if you are comfortable talking about it I would be interested in what is keeping you from going outside. No pressure to though!
take a short vacation?
I don't have someone to hang out with
and social anxiety
@young umbra Fair comments. There's plenty to do outside solo though. Don't write off the joys of jogging/walking/whatever alone. Being alone might make the social anxiety less of an issue as, well, you aren't socialising!
I live in a remote area where there isn't really anyone to hangout with, so do pretty much all my outdoor stuff by myself haha
what is james' wallpaper its nice
I know I should do that stuff, I can't help it I just go outside for college now. I will try to currently I am even scared to ask different colour of pen to shopkeeper and relationship with family is not the best
I want to work on all of this
Yes I also want

Hello
Hey guys, what do you think of replacing handwriting with typing on a laptop in high school classes?
I did have a laptop in high school, and let me tell you:
Sure it might be faster to type than write (though that depends on you), but unless you're really organized, taking quick or subtle notes will be a pain.
That on you have to bring your charger.
Oh right, and drawing too, have a small notebook ready in case you have to.
I recommend sorting out these details first, but if you already have, go ahead. Just be sure and aware of it.
I used an iPad for 2 years in school and replaced it with a laptop but used pen and paper in classes since now. I thought about using my Laptop because I really only need handwriting for math, physics and chemistry (I could just take a photo of the handwritten notes for those classes and upload them on my cloud after class). I don't know but I think that studying with digital/handwritten notes would be in my case faster and easier because of the fact that I study mostly with flashcards/active recall/Anki.
That makes sense
But also get yourself a good reliable flash drive, and make backups.
You might also want to look into OCR softwares (Optical Character Recognition), which can write text from a picture, very handy.
For example, an office suite with OCR integrated is for example ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editor (like MS Office but free)
thx for the tips

anyone have any tips on memory retention i have a test tomorrow and i dont want to cram ive heard that doesnt help
Depends on what you're learning @hoary belfry
A good way is to study 25 minutes and in your 5 minute break review the material you just learned, close whatever you're doing, and write down everything you remember from what you just reviewed. Now look back at the material, how much did you remember?
oh, that actually might help, thank you for the advice!
You're welcome goodluck 😄 , If any questions tag

How much exercise (per week) should I do to improve my study? Is it better to exercise more often in smaller sections or to exercise less often in large sections?
i guess it depends on each person, for me i do often and smaller sections so i can at learn abit everyday. large sections makes u use ur brain more but draining.

I have my exam in statistics & probability next month mid March. Right now I don't have much of a clue of where to start learning. Yesterday I started by going through the first chapter and taking note of the essential stuff without the Filler. We only had mandatory exercise sheets every 2 weeks, had 7 in total.
u gotta find productive time to make up for that lost time
sounds like ur developing a bad habit so break it while u can by doing something else like reading a few books or reflecting on ur day
then going back to studying
u also have to realize that the phone itself is the problem and downloading the app is just encouraging u to think about ur phone more. u gotta break the cycle, and something that will work really well is to just completely shut off ur phone while u study
and practice this every day to build that habit so u don't procrastinate on studying/working before the day of the exam
I know that feeling! Sometimes we are confronted with difficult times and our phones and apps are a great way to distract ourselves from that.
Firstly I would say don't be too hard on yourself. It's totally ok to take a break and enjoy a game or your phone.
If you would like to change the pattern you're in then there are a couple of things you could try. In the short term look at using an app like stay focused to hard lock your phone. This takes the effort out of your hands and gives you a chance to reflect on the behaviours you are trying to change
I really like the '30 day ' approach in combination with streaking.
Set yourself an achievable challenge, like only using a 'distraction' app for a max of 15 mins a day or something like that. Then say you will stick to this rule for 30 days. Just 30 days.
This means you aren't trying to 'change forever' which can seems like a big deal.
And the chance are that after 30 days you will be in a routine/behaviour pattern
tysm for the advice, really appreciate it
for the hardlock mode u mean those apps that lock the distraction app things, right ?
@signal night stayfocused is nuts
You give it admin control and can fully lock down your phone
Block apps, website, set time limits, etc
it is a really amazing app
aight ty, imma try to stick to it for 30 days
remember progress is never linear
I like this APP ! For my ADHD ass that a must
Paired with Coldturkey
don't beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon, just reconnect with your motivations and start again
look for chance to use positive reinforcement rather than punishment
Very good advice, I personally use the app called StayFree, same concept.
When something like this happen, please open a ticket, and don't share what's happening in general chat, as it will make people curious to go see what's happening. And no need to massively ping mods because that won't make them come quicker if they are not available. Nonetheless thanks for your report
Please stay courteous towards mods, we are not your servants, we have life obligations aside from the server, so sometimes we take time to respond, thank you
I apologise mate I didn't mean it that way
@cinder night It was out of concern cause the posts were you know even inappropriate doesn't suit em so I'm sowee 🙃
yesss got it thanks
I'm having a hard time motivating myself. Can somebody help me? It's the last exam of my bachelor and its in 12 days. Haven't studied much and I feel so unmotivated.
Yes, in know. Parallel, I'm writing my bachelor thesis. It's pretty exhausting. But during the next semester I'll stay in bachelor anyway. I can already continue with master courses.
IMO 12 days is a nice amount of time
It's because my bachelor thesis won't be done until the end of the semester
Yea, i think so too.
you're probably burnt out a fair bit
so a break from screens and desks might be a worthwhile investment of time
Haha, I'm probably not. I'm pretty lazy since I'm already studying for many years. I don't know. It's sad. I have motivation for my thesis, but this exam is tiring.
If I don't pass it's not a big deal. I could just repeat it next semester. But it surely would be nice to pass it. Then my degree would be safe, because I think that I can definitely pass my thesis.
@naive plinth If you'd like to have a short talk, I'm in chill room right now.
I've got to head afk in a sec but could chat later if you're still around
alright, would appreciate it 🙂
nice one, I'll @ you when I'm back at the computer! Until then, take it easy!
has anyone taken a nand2tetris course?
if u did please tell me the difference between the free and the paid course and whats the point of getting the certificate for the paid course
Since ancient times, the motif, or recurring idea, of a metamorphosis has appeared in stories, poems, novels, and plays. A witch casts a spell on a prince, and he turns into a frog. A young girl who is an expert weaver claims that she is even better than Athena, incurring the goddess's wrath. She is changed into a spider. More recently, a dozen superheroes' stories of physical transformation--to something stronger but sometimes also stranger--have graced movie theater screens around the world.
Describe a story you've heard or read in which a metamorphosis takes place; the story can be from a myth, a poem, a book, a song, or a movie. In your description, identify what, if any, traits of the "new" creature remain as a evidence of the original being. Also explain what the metamorphosis is supposed to represent in the context of the story and a broader sense.
^ My English assignment
My main issue is that I can't think of anything that has a "metamorphosis". If someone can recommend me something that has a metamorphosis which I can use as an example, that would be GREAT!
Perhaps a movie I can watch, or a book I can read, anything is fine
anyone from germany here?
the Greek myth of Narcissus
Zeus also has a wide range of appearances.
If you'd like a more recent example, Mystique (from X-Men), or you could just use a butterfly
ok ty you guys!! 🙂
you either rebel or accept their decision
true
u cant rly hide long hair
and i would hope that if u rebel, ur family wont be too harsh
I tried like two times both attempts failed
Has anyone applied to UT Austin for CS? If you have, has your decision come out yet? I applied for early action and was supposed to get it by 1st Feb, and haven't received mine yet. (I am international btw)
Has anyone tried James’ tips for getting better sleep and waking up early?
I’ve been experiencing sleep issues for about a year and would like to make a change.
I have tried it
But not as early as he sleeps because I have loads of school work and it’s not that easy but I have tried sleeping earlier and it has helped
i'm tying to improve my sleeping habits also, I srated going to sleep at 9:30 now to wake up at 7
needs some time but you will get used to it
also doing some sports that day, like running will defintely help with sleeping
@obtuse hatch How long is your bedtime routine?
just half n hour max probably
sleeping at 9:30 and waking up at 7 is luxury man
sometimes at 6, but rarely
don't you feel tired after waking up?
Do you use Alarmy?
I always feel tired after waking up when my sleep goes more than 6-7 hours
uh yes
not really, mostly falling asleep at 10 if I'm not too tired
@solid lake Photo challenge too?
photo challenge?
oh wow, well i feeltired if i sleep less than 7 hours and more than 9
by alarmy I thought you meant alarm
the less I sleep, the less tired I feel
That’s fair. No shame in taking care of your body!
idk what's wrong with me
Photo challenge is for Alarmy (an alarm clock app)
during finals i used to sleep 6 hours and was perfectly fine, but sleeping more than that was mking me tired too
after i stared uni i had more time for sleep and that kinda switched my sleeping schedule
tbh I am in a situation like that too
high school finals
exams season these 4 months
when do you usually wake up?
do you hold naps during the day?
yes I hold 30 mins nap that turn into 3 hour long sleep
well there is the affect that 6 hours of sleep have for you
meaning your body does indeed need more rest
again i get it, had the same habits during finals so thats not too bad really
but you feelmore tired after more sleep because your body got used to naps and short deep sleeps probably
I kind of compare it to the work I need to do
like when more work , my body doesn't need rest
and when I'm usually free, then this schedule happens
like not really free I have a lot of things to do
but procrastination yk
yea i get that
i think its important to get a kind of consistency into your day and sleep, even if the work is a different amount every day
stick to a earlier time if possible and start by going to sleep one hour early and dont do naps whatsoever to make yure you sleep well during the night
yea that kinda holds you up from doing work idk
no why would you
just dont eat too much
i feel that, over eating usually kicks me our too and i feel tired
guess I need to control myself even more
that normal and is the science behinf all the warmth coming up again
something that helped me with this
is going just for a 10 minutewalk so you use the energy fot movement instead of thermal
or just dont overeat
for me personally that worked very well
I need to
hello, does anyone have website or a software that turns videos of lectures into PDF
i have a question regarding the study rooms
is it just a vc you mute yourself in until you finish and then you leave?
(no disrespect)
Guys help me
I'm doubting myself.
That I'm not going to achieve what i want in life
I'm (21 M)
There are many things to distract me form my goal
you just gotta push through that man, like james talked about you gotta have that drive!
I'm a piece of grass in Strom
tap into those roots and try your hardest to stay on the ground\
It's like everything is very hard to do
But how
just keep trying, no matter what is happening around you. you have to keep believing in yourself and pushing beyond those ceilings you set for yourself. prove all of them wrong
Bro what to do when the wind is blowing very fast like im in Asia and just in a second I'm on USA
just gotta keep going, i know things must seem bad now but you gotta keep trying.
No matter how hard I'm trying to stay on the ground but on next moment I'm on mercy of wind
You gotta remember that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s a part of success
Should I burn my ship untill I won the battle
So there is not a single chance to leave the battlefield
yes
Thanks bro i really need someone to talk thanks again,
I'm not losing my focus untill I won the battle , I'm burning my ship and not leaving the battlefield untill I won.
I need some help
You can write anything on sports realated
Like-football, basketball, vollyball, badminton, tennis, or whatever games are playing on your school.
Just imagine the situation and I'm sure you can write 1000,1200 words.
I feel like I have lost myself, how do I redeem myself? Has anyone gone through what I'm going through and overcomed it?
it is just 100-120 words so i need a short and easy plot tbh:(((
Bro read my conversation ☝️ I'm feeling the same but rn i deleted everything thing believe me your phone also need some declutter and you also feel good.
How may games are playing in your school on sports day
haha "do my homework for me"
How do you mean declutter phone ?
you haven't lost yourself, you don't need redemption. Take a breath. It's all good
if you want to make a change to things then be gently and consistent
Delete everything
I wish that is true but it isn't, I do feel like I have lost myself
Nice idea
Learn how to use this two edge sword
I am trying to make a change
Well there was a girl who left me in december
cool, what sort of change, being specific will help
that's tough, break ups are hard
This is the big problem listen bro just focus on yourself she is not THE ONE.
With my whole life, my study and my college academics
Okay bro
ok that's too vague and big, your giving yourself an impossible task
start small, be specific.
pick on thing to work on at a time
and build on each milestone
Has anyone applied to UT Austin for CS?
I'm doing my best, I'm studying for like 5-6 hours now
hows that going?
I didn't really study back then
I was tired just by going to college, so didn't feel like studying coming back home
Good. Feeling better day by day
I do that yes
hello, does anyone have website or a software that turns videos of lectures into PDF
I took a break today only
there's always room to improve, but don't loose sight of your achievements
like transcribe a whole video into a pdf??
no no tun the video itself into PDF without transcription
But there are certain times I feel like I have lost myself, I miss her girl sometimes( i don't want to but still I miss her)
I don't understand, why do you want to convert a video to pdf, is that even a thing?
I feel like I'm not going to do anything in future, I'm just a side character in my own life
You will miss her and it'll take time to let it go, be kind to yourself, let your feelings come and go
I don't understand what is wrong with me
Try not to get too wrapped up in thoughts of the future, when this happens try and bring yourself back to the present moment. Take a breath, go for a walk, drink some water
Okay
Alright
it's not easy at times, but practice makes perfect.
One step at a time
Indeed
ah so it makes a pdf of the frames or something
Sometimes it's hard for me to wake up in the morning
And hard to sleep early at night
I turn off my phone and try to sleep, but I'm not able to sleep directly after that
My mind overthinks a lot
cus it's more practical , do you have a solution ?
I'd never heard of anyone doing this before
I'll see if ffmpeg can do it
What format is the video?
it's a yt video
LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting system; it includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. LaTeX is the de facto standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents. #LaTeX is available as free software.

this one
Anyone can advice with this?
do you do any exercise?
to whom you're addressing the question ?
haha sorry it was for @young umbra
I've just downloaded the video and see if I can make a pdf, one sec
Sometimes
okey thanks
ok I'm getting there
I'll let you know how I did it if it works out ok
curious to know
how can you convert video to pdf
aren't they two like entirely different things?
I'm sure there is a better way but so far I have downloaded the video from you tube, then used ffmpeg to make a png of every second
which I'll then combine into a pdf
I've found this website that seems to do the job but it didn't work for me ( or i didn't know how to use it)
haha yeah I'm not giving that website my email address haha
exercise is really one of the best things for sleep
I have some dummy emails for these websites
oh man thats a good idea
I'll try
like everytime I need to checkup something related to acadmics, every websites needs login :(
isn't it safe (cus i already did register🥹 )
and then'll spam your inbox to sell their courses
yeah I just feel like they'll sell my email to some spam register or something
I can def make you pdf but it'll have some repeated pages
they surely do
I mean a lot of websites/institutions do it
our school literally gave numbers of top students to a private tution/coaching ( they charge you a lot for "preparing" you for entrance exams ).
i also found this article but I don't know how to follow the instructions
lol well it turns out trying to put >3000 pngs into a pdf uses all your RAM and nukes your computer
haha
I left it for a while but just had to restart
this looks good I'll give it a go
@somber heart that code worked well I'll send you what it made
The pages are portrait so I'll run it again and see if I can find the option to make them landscape
sorry for that 😅
haha no my bad, it was a pretty stupid thing to run while my machine was doing other stuff hehe
I flicked through the pdf and it looks good, but having not seen the whole video can't say whether it's perfect or not
that's a cool tool to have found so I appreciate you making me aware of it
thank you so much, i really appreciate it
let me know you got it ok, and it's good enough
I think it's in portrait mode cus the transcription of the video is meant to be added in the rest of the page
yee, I don't have an SRT, or subtitle file, for the video so can't generate the text
if you're learning LaTeX this channel helped me a lot when I was starting out: https://www.youtube.com/@MichelleKrummel/videos
Ms. Krummel is a mathematics teacher whose special areas of interest include mathematics, technology, and gifted education.
The channel title, "Upward, Not Northward" is taken from the novel "Flatland" by Edwin A. Abbott. It signifies the importance of opening your mind to new ideas, thinking about things in new and unusual ways, and marveling ...
it's perfect thank you so much , just in case you found a way to make the slides landscape that would be fantastic
haha I'll keep digging but need to go afk for a bit, if I figure it out I'll @ you
thanks! I'll definitely check it
if it's gonna take you time no need to bother yourself by it, the PDF you sent me earlier if working perfectly fine for me.
Ok cool. I play have a tinker as I may use it the future so would like to know whether it's possible
anyways, thanks for the help 🙏
does it matter which study room i go in?
nope !
Any one of them will do, but some might be packed
thanks unk!
yw
whe do you get permitted to speak in a room? just curious
You can't speak in rooms, and it can't be overridden.
This is to prevent people from distracting each other
(As well as eventual trolls)
thank you for letting me know

"person has child"
Good for them
We're all gonna make it brahs
this is the precise moment how my gran greeted me because of the fact that i haven’t visited her for quite some time
is this grammatically correct
or does it sound off
This is the exact moment when my grandmother greeted me because I hadn't visited her for a long time.
Would be better imo
Though I am unsure about the sense of your sentence
There was a website looks like a study space having pomodoro timer, playlist, view etc. I have bookmarked it, but somehow can’t find it. Anyway, is there anyone who knows the website?
thanks
I don't know it no, but depending on your browser, Ctrl + B might show all your bookmarks, hope this helps
So, for the past month or so, I've been attempting to cut down on my screen time, but it hasn't been effective. I've tried a number of screen time limiters, but I simply keep deactivating the time limits and use my phone for hours on end My screen time initially decreased; it fell from 4-5 hours to 1-2. I now often use my phone while turning off my screen limits. Now that I'm stuck and lack the urge to use screen limitations, I just don't feel like doing anything.
Wanted to ask if there's a screen timer that prevents you from turning it off, or if you guys have nay other advice that could solve this problem.
Thanks 🙂
FlipD (available for both android and ios)
tell it how much time you want your phone locked for, then no going back, locked, no disabling
what phone is it? apple or ios or android?
you've got another ?
ehhh?
recommendation ?
If @young umbra is using android then stayfocused is a very good app
you can set it up so it's impossible to turn off the blocks
without doing something drastic like factory resetting your phone
if you are willing to factory reset to watch some youtube then I feel like an app isn't going to help you haha
thanks guys i needed this
you can do all sorts of cool stuff on stayfocused as well. For example you tube could be unlocked after Forest has been used for 5 hours or something
or your phone could lock itself for 2 hours everytime you use it for 15 mins
but afaik there it isn't in apple's app store?
Will it still work if i restart my phone tho ??
oh do you mean?
Like turn your phone off?
because if have done that in the past
yea yea like powering it off and on again
iirc the only way I got rid of stayfocused was be resetting my phone to factory
I'll test it then tell you
no i haven't like factory reset it but like powering it off an on
I don't remember that turning it off
Thanks for helping a brother out yall
So i have used forest in the past but i thought it was just a study timer so i just stopped using it
tbh for me one of the best things was just putting my phone in another room
or giving it a friend or parent
don't need blocking apps if you don' actually have your phone
if i tell my parents i need help with my screen time theyll just start getting on me
like
i dont even know what to say
bummer
so thats that
do you think you could explain it to your parents in a way that they would understand?
yea but ill just use forest instead
any brothers or sisterS?
oNlY cHiLD
no wories
well at least put the phone on the otherside of the room
like under something
so you can't se eit
there was a study that found even having your phone in line of sight will impact focus
yea i surely will try it
people who couldn't see their phones were able to focus better, even if the phones were switched off
rip people like me
who need phone to study
forest is a study timer
blocker is stayfocussed
thanks
found the paper:
"Our smartphones enable—and encourage—constant connection to information, entertainment, and each other. They put the world at our fingertips, and rarely leave our sides. Although these devices have immense potential to improve welfare, their persistent presence may come at a cognitive cost. In this research, we test the “brain drain” hypothesis that the mere presence of one’s own smartphone may occupy limited-capacity cognitive resources, thereby leaving fewer resources available for other tasks and undercutting cognitive performance. Results from two experiments indicate that even when people are successful at maintaining sustained attention—as when avoiding the temptation to check their phones—the mere presence of these devices reduces available cognitive capacity. Moreover, these cognitive costs are highest for those highest in smartphone dependence. We conclude by discussing the practical implications of this smartphone-induced brain drain for consumer decision-making and consumer welfare."
Guys do you have any advice, i do pomodoro for an hour and sometimes 1 hour isnt enough for one task and then i have to repeat it and the whole studying plan just messes up?
you aren't meant to finish a task in each session
it's just that for many people taking a 5 min break every 30-60 mins is helpful
Ohh ok thanks
it's just a nice pattern that stops you from burning out by sitting at the desk for an indefinite amount of time
sometimes a single 'task' will take me multiple 50 min sessions over multiple days
I need help on coping with the poor education system in my country

hey guys i need help on study methods in general
can anyone help me with that? i want to change my study method because even though i find it effective i still think it's too time consuming
what's your current approach?
- Prone
- Irrespective
- Misconception
lmao don't do their homework for them :p
haha I know the feeling, but people gotta do their own work
when i study something i'm used to handwrite what i'm learning, for istance when you learn what the human heart is and what it's made of, i'm reading what the textbook says and the second time i handwrite what's written but slightly rearranged in a way that feels more personal and coming from me. This technique is effective at its most when i already have a good understanding of the argument and i "repeat it" while writing it down, it makes me easier to focus and to remember it
thing is, when i go back to the argument and i can't recall it properly i have to write the whole thing down once again in order to have that grasp of the argument again, which not only makes my hand ache, it's also a slow process that i feel like takes way more time than it should
but again, just reading what i'm learning doesn't make me memorize it as much as writing it down
for focus and study time i use the pomodoro technique which is incredibly helpful for me who gets distracted easily
worst part of it it's when you can't rearrange anything and you have to 100% memorize a process for how it is, as in biochemistry for istance, making me write the reactions and molecules repeatedly until they get stuck in my head
it is effective, to me, but it's way too time consuming and i feel like i'm making things harder than they should be
ok sounds like you have a good process and work ethic, just need to find a way of making your notes more concise and efficient
if you are trying to straight up memorise then flash cards are a great tool
there are loads of digital flash card programmes that will save your wrists from aching
where do i find those? do you advice one of them more than others?
anki is the classic one
I haven't done flash cards in a long time so there may a new programme that is more popular now
but anki might be a good place to start
there are often premade flashcard packs for various subjects
how do they work? like you make those yourself and then you play that and it displays just the questions you have to answer?
and in case you don't remember it you can turn them around to see the answer
yeah
pretty much
and anki will show you a card more if you are getting it wrong a lot
and show it less if you are getting it right a lot
this helps you sink things into your long term memory
it's called spaced repetition or something
oh wait you have to write the answer down tho
otherwise how does it know you get it right or wrong
I can't remember how it works in detail. But it is the same as flash cards. On one side is a question and on the other is the answer
you read the question, say the answer, then turn the card over to check it
.
when james gonna graduate yall ?
h
In 2 months or so I think
There was a big earthquake in Turkey, my friends.
Are you safe?
hey Friends, Ive got a question about Netflix subscriptions, can u play the movies in faster speed (1.5X / 2X...) in the Basis subscription for 7.99$
GET WELL SOON TO EVERYONE
Does anyone know how to work through resistance to studying?
Just do it
life is short. You'll never lie back on your death bed wishing you had wasted more time and studied less
anyone here who is preparing for IELTS or has given already, please DM
i'd beg to differ
3-2-1 rule works for me
Hlo everyone anyone from India I'm in currently grade 11 so i wanted some tips from grade 12 cuz it's really important grade for me i hope anyone helps . Thank u
@young umbra thank u so much I'll work harder ❤️
guys u can check here to help with providing more heaters, clothes etc. to the damaged areas❤️🩹 please help us!
guys i dont feel anything
why i am depressed all the time?
my girl just leaved me
I am a lonely guy in Paris now
Help
this is probably not the case LMAO
^^^
I look back at my BeReals and all of them are in front of my desk, it’s kinda depressing
gotta prioritize fun too
that's because life is too short
but i relate with you lol
I choose to work deeply in the morning so later in the day I can entertain more social stuff
yupp
By doing 2 hours of work before I go to class, I save 2 hours later in the day where I can hang out w friends
me too, but unfortunately i got stuck with morning classes this semester //:
And not feel pressured that I’m not working
Yeah my classes start at 9:15 and I had to radically change my sleep schedule
when do u get up to study?
i have to commute to my university by train which kinda kills a chunk of time in the morning
oof i wish i could do that, but my gf keeps me up at night 😭
The annoying part is figuring out how much time you spend doing a morning routine and commute and all that stuff
i wake up around 7 typically, but 6am on a good day
I think it’s super important not to rush stuff like waking up and eating breakfast and all that
That’s good!
that's my struggle because i feel like i take so much time, but also it's important for mental health to enjoy this stuff
I wake up at 5:30, I meditate for 15 min, and make/finish breakfast by 6:30
That’s just what works for me
any advice for getting into meditation? i heard it's helpful, but idrk what im doing
I use Headspace
is that a mobile app
My university gives it to me for free which is cool
Yeah
It’s guided meditations
They have a free trail I’d highly recommend
What I like about it is that there’s specific courses you can take
So it kinda gives me a goal and mixes up stuff and all that it’s v helpful
i'll check it out, thanks! if all it takes is an edu email, i'm crossing my fingers lol
ggs
Oh also I use an app called RISE sleep for my sleep schedule, it helps you manage when you should go to bed and shows you your circadian rhythm and all that
:((
There’s probably other alternatives or some codes on r/Headspace or something
i think my university has a similar app to this
i used it before but idk if it has meditations stuff, i'll have to look
haha well there is certainly a case for balance and spending a good amount of time away from your desk
as long as that isn't just rage scrolling SM or doom watching YT
my checkpoint's coming up in 2 months or so, any suggestions as to how i can get good marks?
what was the name of that website where you can share group timer and todo lists?
im not sure if i can ask this
but do u guys know any other study servers
like this?
what is the minimum time of deep work yall think can dedicate in ur most busiest day for a long period of time like a month ?
studystream is good
hardly any chat, just people quietly working in the vc
like the amount of work time you could can done during a bust period?
deep work per day that you can do "sustainably" during ur normal busy day for over long period of time (a month). If u know what i mean..
Still not totally sure what you mean. But if I was free just to work on my studies then I would probably look to do like 4-6 hours of work a day
Let say if you got a 9 to 5 jobs and errands to do. How much time u could study something that you can maintain per day over long period of time (maybe a month).
ahhh got you
haha
I did my masters while working a full time job for a while
Under those conditions I found it better to think of hours per week rather than hours per day
I aimed to get ~15 hours a week done minimum
and spread over the week to allow for my other commitments
thats crazy. full time, a master and 15 hrs weeks. I cant even focus for 25 min nowaday and got only a class this semester. U built different man 👏
nah, took me a bit of practice to get into the routine but you'd be able to do it
I live in a quiet rural area which helps, not much to do round here
I'll try my best. Used to done a lot more. Tks
plus work was outdoors and physical so I was getting all my exercise through my job
go gentle and be kind to yourself. don't go beating up yourself or anything. It's all about taking it easy and positively reinforcing wholesome habits.
gotcha. Appreciate for the tips 👌

Hello guyzz, can u please help me guess what is written here :
i hate to cover everyone else's words; they're all so lovely
I have been trying to go through my class notes first thing daily. I'm only taking 12 hours but it is kind of difficult because I'm so disorganized. I really enjoy the material at this point but I need some sort of framework to study for a long period each day. Any tips to make the most out of my time?
can anyone please reccomend english grammar book to prepare for ielts
I have a question for people studying in uni. After a long day how do you get back on track? How do you self-study after spending 9 stressful hours of classes? I get home by 6 pm and lately, i am struggling with completing the intended amount of work. Pls welp ;-;
You have 9 hours of classes in a day?
not 9hr but like 8hrs(mon, wed, fri) and rest days is 7
I really enjoy what I study. Half of college is just organizational skills and planning if you're already a competent student. Find time to do stuff where you'd normally have breaks or have fun, college isn't meant to be a cake walk, it's often the busiest time of our lives
I have my English exhibition this Saturday and I'm assigned to make some project to show it on school's anniversary. I have to make it on chart paper idk how to make any idea ?
Hello, anyone here has a solidworks app ?

is anyone using Philips wiz bulbs? I need some help
Did any of you ever have to retake a class? I just got results from my finals in discrete math and I failed, so there might be a chance for me to retake this class. I kinda feel a bit discouraged rn. Im a bit scared that this might affect my future (btw im freshman in computer science)
I know C, how can I help?
I had to retake a course in high school, and then I also ended up failing my image processing class last year
It happens, I think it's important to not let your worth be defined by your grades - maybe you struggled with the material more than you thought you would, maybe you didn't have a good time mentally, maybe life got in the way - there is no reason to beat yourself up over a bad grade. It doesn't feel good, especially if you worked really hard, but you aren't a failure by any metric.
Discrete math is also a fairly difficult subject, especially in your freshman year. If you haven't been exposed to it before, it can be quite the learning curve. It is central to CS in some ways (more theoretical imo), so getting a good foundation early on will make later classes more bearable. Good luck with the retake, you got this! 💪🏽
how to organize a routine for academic study?
Hi everyone, I'm looking for suggestions on studying techniques when using video-based content. I'm a software engineer and most courses are videos.
I've been using Anki for a couple of months and I'm really enjoying it so far. When using PDFs, it's fine and I can create cards on the fly. But when trying to follow videos it's just not possible.
What is your step by step process in order to go from video to flashcard ?
I'm thinking of watching the video and taking notes, after each video structuring the notes into flashcards instead (using Obsidian).
Interested to hear other peoples workflows !
anyone knows how to write a thank you/graduation for valedictorians speech
Hi everyone, I wanted to ask those that use pomodoro apps about what functions are most important for you e.g. short/long break, statistics, routines, multiple tasks, dark theme, custom alarm sound, notifications, or maybe something different. Let me know what it is!
i don't think he has one
well he added links in the channel banner and description so i asked
but thnx
idk why discord won't let me tag you but just so you know, anki's helping a lot with memory and also exposition, you're a life saver!
in terms of future job opportunities, which is better: geopolitics or economics?

is the mother tongue subject in the O level compulsory in private board exam
The reason u r burning out is prbly cuz you can't keep the info in yo head. U can't flash card smash all that in yo head. To keep it in yo head you have to make connections with other concepts and make sense of it. Figure out why it's relevent. In your free time check out Justin sung
Your profile picture is levi you can do this dude
hey guys i have a huge Question in terms of concentration loss on phone. Sometimes when im on phone im playing around with my homescreen (im on iphone) there appears to be a blurr on top of the apps and all of a sudden my brain starts to recognize again, it comes back to live and the concentration is immediatly there again because my brain got fully blacked out from the sharp looking apps and texts. So the solution is maybe to prevent yourself from getting stuck on phone with a blur Filter that u could activate or deactivate
Im writing this down here cause maybe somebody has an idea on how to integrate this, maybe via extension or via app or distribution, i dont actually know a good solution or maybe there is already something like this and im just missing it out. Also i know that u cant expect Apple or Samsung or any type of Media Producer to integrate it because they want screen time! Tell me what do u think guys!!!
i cant send a screen so you have to imagine it to be blurry or try it yourself on your iphone (i dont know if this is also possible on android), Tutorial on IOS: activate phone then when u on home screen swipe lo the left but hold it between the widget section and the first home screen section)
hey yall my brain is not braining today can somebody tell me what this means? context: I emailed our college secretary about who my program adviser was and they sent this
The email thread is like the text messages. Each email in the thread is a message. I think
It's the replies to mails
You know, when you receive Re:[subject] and you can see the previous emails
Yes
so does that mean the program adviser will see the previous mails that include mine and the college secretary?
On Gmail there's a checkbox that can enable including previous mails in your reply
Just check it on or off to your liking
Cool idea ngl
Like this?
yea like this
your brain instantly comes back to reality out of the absorbing screen that catches u with sharpness of the symbols and texts
Is here someone who can code java, I can ask for help?
hello my dude. i went through a burnout too. i couldn’t do much, honesty. i had to drop out for the semester. what i did to recover was:
- you really need to take a break
- if you can, go to a nutritionist, take blood exams and put all your vitamins in order. they REALLY make a difference
- when you’re depressed, can’t really bother to eat right, but you must do it! i had to get back to my mommas house because for the first time i had to ask for help. and its ok
- exercise! im going to the gym, but any walk will help. it sucks for 2 weeks and them the feel goods chemicals kick in.
- i’ve been on mood stabilizers and antidepressants for most of my life, and NOTHING made so much difference to me than this: eat well, supplements and exercise at least 3x a week (but start with 2)
- therapy always was difficult and boring to me, but when you really commit to it, it makes a real difference
- everything that i talked about costs a lot of money. really. A LOT. im really lucky to have parents that support me and helped me. but maybe you don’t have the means to it, so do what you can
- for your exams, find a friend who really understands you and your subjects and stick to them. ASK FOR HELP. and GOOD LUCK!
one class wont affect your future unless you let it be
u could also take a winter/summer semester to not fall behind
It is efficient
Multimeters are polyvalent tools, and measuring Resistance (in ohms) is a piece of cake for it.
Take the plus and the minus of your multimeter, and put each of them on any side of your resistor
Your multimeter will then give you a value in Ohm, for which the equation is:
R(omhs)= U(voltage) x I(amperes)
Note that you can flip that equation to find either U, or I (you'll also have to change the sign)
Hope that helps
thanks so much!
thanks but i had already found one and that is
The measuring process of resistors is an important aspect of electrical engineering and technology. Accurately measuring the resistance of resistors is crucial in determining the performance of electrical circuits and systems. There are several techniques for measuring resistor resistance, including using a multimeter, using a Wheatstone bridge, and using the four-point probe method.
That's sounds ChatGPT-ish ngl
yep, chat gtp made my homework lol lol lol
If random internet strangers know, your professor is also gonna know
Can you send chats where people are preparing to apply to american universities?

hey everyone! I'm new here. I'm currently studying Webb programming and embedded systems at university currently in my second year pursuing computer programming and engineering. I just wanted to say hi! I wish everyone good luck.
