I would suggest starting by doing what's easiest first and then building on top of that. If you have a lot to do, it's easy to get overwhelmed and do nothing at all. I found out that starting with easy things, ideally the easiest thing I get momentum and end up doing a lot throughout the day, and that helps immensely in the grand scheme of things once repeated enough times. Don't let yourself down by the sheer amount of work you have or by how behind the curve you are, that is only certain to keep you where you are.
can u guys recommend any non fiction books about future on ai , how ai will affect us in the future , why be scared or not be scared? , basically im planning to gain some knowledge on tech nowadays and how it will affect me probably this next few years or even now because of chatgpt thing
Hey, can I ask my physics question here?
sure go ahead
I'm curious -- what do u guys think about studying everyday vs having a single day of the week without school/work obligations (and loading up on deep focus sessions on other days of the week?
studying everyday doesn't sound good really. People sometimes need a 1 day off. I studied all day long, but i have a day off tho
i think, 6 days of studying all day ( not forgetting other activities like guitar, gym and so on) and other 1 day off. It would be great
thats what i did this week
i still don't have time for guitar sadly
but i will try to spare time for my guitar
I think that depends of the person, i need a day to rest... then i feel more relax/motivatade to study the other days. And it´s a really good way to help with the mental health and don´t burnout
i go outside after an intense studying, it feels so good after
especially when weather is cold
that's what i was thinking about too, but I realized with my schedule for next semester, I would be getting like under 30 hours of study per week if i only study 6 days a week (because of my commute/gym/work)
oof, so good
so you say, u want to study everyday
ig
im trying to say that i'm not sure if it would be worth it or if it would just burn me out
i'd be getting less than 30hr of study per week, but my 6 day week wouldn't have room for more
Depends on you tbh. Some people can study 8h 7days a week no problem, others need the rest.
You could also take an approach more akin to physical training, where you're exercising all 7 days. But only 5 or 6 are intense training, and the remaining 1-2 is "active recovery".
Essentially, if you take 1-2 days a week off of studying, don't waste them doomscrolling. Engage in a creative outlet, Soduku or w/e
Only way to know is to try it out and document your fatigue and recovery levels for a couple weeks per method
makes sense. i def couldn't do 8 hrs a day because of my schedule, but I intend to spend my free day of the week doing non-academic study like reading or working on projects.
that's good advice, thx
do u guys also feel like time is going fast
Godspeed@calm adder
i really can't fit everything
i study and bam
its already evening
i don't know what to say
At least time goes by fast for you, which is good. Now if you feel like you can't fit everything you want to do, you'll need to start documenting so you can prioritize and become more efficient in what you're doing
But yeah man, sometimes you definitely feel like there is not enough time in the world
do u keep like a study journal or something btw? @autumn echo
Just gotta stick to the plan and not let your sleep suffer
Bullet journaling, but ye I've always kept journals on health and study/work
probably right
how can i document it
i tried first to make a plan
ruined
also im probably obsessed with telephone
yeah what is bullet journaling
Helps to keep on track when the discipline wanes and you can quickly recap your progress
Bullet journling is sort a diary, schedule and to-do list smashed into one very efficient manner.
I'd highly suggest looking it up. Its a no-cost barrier to entry as well, just pen and paper.
Anecdotally, everyone I know, but two, who have taken it up have found it useful.
I'd recommend the same, as in bullet journal. Although it may depend on where your journal tracking fails. If its actually using it daily/weekly, then maybe start with the far simpler "X effect". It will help you get into certain habits of your choosing. Once you've obtained the habit of daily journal keeping, then you will be able to utilize other methods to their maximum effect.
Godspeed
😁
i documented when i was preparing to my uni exam
damnn
good time.
will try!
thank yoy
you
ill buy a journal first
is there any specific diary for it?
There probably is, but I just use a small moleskine and customize it.
anyone have any tips on how to take better notes
Better as in quicker to write what the professor is talking about, or better for memory recall?
Both?
hey! you can right on topics in your notebook/computer. i recommend the app called "Notion", there you can personalize in your style. You can also put videos, links, make many types of tables, and put cool emojis, photos. to learn how to use it, youtube videos are a good way to make this happen!
Hey can anyone suggest me helpful websites - preferably the ones related to maths science and computer science :))
Khanacademy
Ty
YES
its like i go to school and come back home and thats the day
does anyone know what study tracker he used in his most recent video at 5:55
guys how do i stay motivated my finals are coming up arghhh
i listen soundtracks that motivate me before i study, like "man of steel- flight". i love that one because it has a meaning of go beyond your limits
idk it's a little strange but works with me lol
maybe it works for you or not
I feel like time is going by incredibly fast too, however I also feel like this may be from a thought process. For me I am just tired from the year and look forward to any breaks I get in the future, such as the upcoming Christmas break for me. I feel like it is this eagerness to rest that makes me look forward to the break, but also making time feel like it is moving fast. I also realize that while time seems that it is flowing fast, I look at my day and see that there are many places I could have been more productive in. Being more focused throughout the day, and being present will probably slow the day down considerably as I am living out each experience a moment at a time.
don't mind my mind dump, this is just me procrastinating from finals studies
I too am procrastinating on finals studies
I think ive resigned myself to getting a low
Make sure you never pull your phone out while your working
That could be a reason why because when I stopped doing that time started feeling slower
Anyone gets stress related pain? What are your ways of dealing with it if it is kind of regular? Once I get into this full flow state and grind, I get the pain in parallel and then I have to pull the brakes and lose that momentum with my studies.
Ok guys I'll take any help I can get
This is the current GPA I'm working with:
76
41
39
100
40
95
I'm not academically inept I just have kickass depression and I don't know what to do
I already take so much medication yet I manage to miss all homework and important assignments and fail as a result
If anyone has any tips on managing depression and procrastination, do tell.
Meditation helps me a lot. And not just sitting, but rather sorting and organizing my thoughts. If on some issues I cannot change the other person or the situation, I try to change my own attitude or response towards them or the situation.
On procrastination there is just one solution - Just do it. There is always the voice inside of us telling us what would be the right thing to do, listen to it instead of making excuses to not do as it says. This is just my opinion. It took me this whole year to try and implement it in some ways and at least address some of my own issues and blockages. Not easy to follow all the time even for me, but it's the path I'm trying to follow
Grind pain is far better than pain of regret about wasting time knowing we had potential to do it.
also, morning meditation, waking up early, early sunbath, eating right, sleeping at time, these few things will definitely manage that grind pain, just be consistent for first 21 days, once we pass that benchmark things become easy, body and mind becomes light...try it out ✨👍
for computer science check the subjects many good courses on coursera, edx etc
for math:
khan academy, photomath and mathway (ONLY for checking your work, otherwise slacking will become a habit)
for computer science:
runestone.academy (for compsci), replit.com for beginners is easily navigable
Tysm!
Oh yup i am
so what it is you mainly wanna study
like what in maths and cs
U can ignore this if u want
Maths i think khan academy is fine but rn my main focus is cs
yea
Yeah, it is. But I really can't afford to push too much. I did that last year and went on bed rest for almost two months. So I try keeping it sustainable.
Yes, this I'll try for sure now, thank you 🤍
tc.. health first,,<3
I've had blood appear sometimes, actually. I guess the difference is that I can't focus when that pain arrives. If the problem is breaking the momentum you've made what has been working for me lately is using notepad and creating 3-5 questions before I end. Those questions are ones that I can directly answer with a little bit of thought so I can "flow" through them and, with that momentum, create more questions and get back into it again. If I can't think of a question I create something called "brainstorm" where I just journal all the questions and confusions I have then create those questions from them again. It's made studying a lot more mechanical and able to be deal with
But if you have pain don't "suck it up". Figure out that problem, heal it, and get better before you jump back in. You'll be more effective then regardless
Managing depression....hm....if it's medical then I can't really provide an answer as I've never experienced medical depression. If it's waves and appearances I can give you what works for me. Get some community, the one here works. Stay around others as much as you can take as it can become draining if you do so too much. Create your flow method for study like the one I mentioned above, and you should be alright.
If you want ways to study without it being harmful, journaling. In depressive episodes I have had, after a while I noticed my mind was kinda just scattering at what it can get to keep me there. It's addicting...if that's the word that works (it doesn't but it gives you the idea) finding all the problems that you have as a person and can feel oddly cathartic to continue searching and finding them, but it's something that I've slowed on a lot more. Journaling allowed me to get that chaos a little under control. Meditating can also allow you to calm that chaos but only if you know how to control the flow of your thoughts else you'll end up spiraling again. Find your method of calming the jumpshot chaos in your mind from those episodes. If it's one thing that's bothering you, or a few specific things then if they are things you can fix, it'd be best to figure out your method towards helping resolve them. If they are out of your control leave it to a higher power or try your best to find some method to take your mind off it (not the best advice, but it's hard to say what to do for things that are not in your hand besides distracting yourself from it).
hey could anyone here help me with descriptive geometry?
I can give a lot of c++ recomendations if ya want
I would say stay in the moment. Now I don't want to lecture or say anything about procrastination as I am currently doing it. However, I am beginning to get a handle of working hard, and it is just a process of realizing that video games, or YouTube, or social media, or whatever you procrastinate with is a waste of time. If you are focused and have a goal in mind, a easy goal, then you can make a step and that is good (a small goal being study for 15 mins). I think that using your time more efficiently is part of growing up, and its a matter of time, however you need to be willing to let go of it. If you isolate yourself from others, which is what I did, then don't do that, if you don't talk with your friends talk to them more. If you don't have any friends, talk to some new people, join a club, be more active in your life. If you have friends but they treat you wrong or make fun of you every so often, find some new friends (not meaning completely ignore your current friends, but drift closer to another circle). Journaling can also help, its like looking back at old games files after you have played a game for a couple years, you wonder what you were doing, and it really lets you appreciate how much you have grown.

Does anyone has any advice on how to cover more topics in a day when your style of learning is studying topics in depth?
From someone who studies in depth, a thing i did is I improved my reading efficiency. And if there’s a topic im already familiar with, i just graze over them and only go in depth with the harder topics
Can someone tell me about gsce, igcse and a levels o levels in the uk
you do gcses or igcses when youre 15/16 at the end of 'secondary school' (or middle school in america), and i dont think theyre very different tbh theyre basically the same thing. And you would do a levels when youre 17/18 at the end of college (equivelent to high school in america or whatever that is in your country).
i can explain them better if u want but im not sure if you wanted that or just to find out what they are generally
Does someone here know about springboot jpa ? I've got a rly stupid error here
Whooo......so breaks coming up and my last exam is today. I was wondering for the other people who are going into CS what would be the best things to do on this break to continue study? I know I'll be working in my lab but I'd like ideas for what to study and what type of projects around what field of CS would be best to get into. I wanna work during the break so I can enter industry once I'm back in college next semester
similar situation here, also looking for info
Is this a good start for a argumentative essay? Ive been struggling with english so much lately and need advice.
Context: Essay about why school should keep teaching the book "To Kill A Mockingbird"
Is racism in the past not acceptable in American literature for students? A crippled black man by the name of Tom Robinson is set on trial for raping a white woman and is unreasonably convicted. This book should not be banned because it teaches why racism is wrong and shows the significance of courage and integrity.
Teaching why racism is wrong shows us bias and prejudice. Philip from Source C explained that “[This] book is invaluable (…) for exposing its injustices (Source C, line 60) and shows us reality in America’s past. The injustices don't just transform our thoughts into viewing a specific race but also how we act toward them. It can make us think that we are more dominant than others and immoral.
Hm.....It's alright to me. An example of how I'd open this, since I did read the book would be:
"In the wake of racial tensions rising following the 2020 American protests, a question about how to teach racism should only be followed with the question "how do we teach it" not "should we". Although lessons on the issue have become greater in range, when it comes to "to kill a mockingbird" I'd like to argue the way Harper tells her story on racism is [argue: "worth keeping as it's portrayal makes sense" or "not worth keeping since it's portrayal is missing intricacies that are necessary"].
I would add more, but that would be adding politics to the channel and I'd really like to not do so. But that's an opening I'd give.
i have printing credits that i have to use up at my university before they expire and go to waste; any suggestions of what i should print out (letter sized paper) to use them up?
hmm, I will consider that.
Thank you for your detailed response
Wasting paper hurts the enviroment
hello folks
ig not having telephone by ur side when u study
works sometimes
i still need to recover myself from years of being a social media maniac...
Ohh I do that too, it's usually the newer and hard topics that takes a lot of time.
it's not wasting paper if i print out useful things lol
but i see your point, i just dont want my money going to waste
Meditation really does help. Also writing your thoughts on a paper helps too. I cured my depression like that.
i deleted social media apps from my phone to get away from my social media addiction. It was the best idea ever
i wanna do that but then i dont rly have any way to contact ppl
actually i’m going to
i simply just use whatsapp for that or i call them if its important,i dont really feel like watching peoples life anymore i started to focus on myself more since i deleted insta
yo
Same! I wasn't in a good place for a very long time. And then these two things helped observe and address the issues as a whole instead of suppressing or postponing them for later.
same here as well! i've been journalling for a month now every day and it has improved my mental health so much :))
Hay everyone! Is there someone who would like help me with essay writing (my English essay writing not good😅)?? I am filling applications for abroad universities and I need to write several essays. So, i was just hoping if someone could help mee.
@cunning temple @hollow fulcrum Can u guys stop pls

huh
should i or should i not take the SAT ?does it heavily affect college decisions nowadays ?
I think it really depends on which school you wanna get in
you can prob go on their websites to see if it’s a requirement
no, due to covid collages have made SAT temporary for students enrolling for fall 2023 admissions.
universities like Harvard and Princeton have also made Sat temporary
and not giving SAT scores will not affect your application selection(as mentioned by universities)
yes heavily
I'm at a t20 uni right now and trust me SAT matters - me and nearly everyone around me has a 1500+ - don't fall for the whole not required sat thing. Set yourself up for success not failure. But if you're applying to state schools or something then no need I guess
But they still let you submit SAT results which shows they still care about them - and it could be the difference between you vs. a similar applicant getting in
i just feel like i am behind in basic math because my teachers sucked the pass couple years and i never knew what else to do and i feel like i’m at a disadvantage
yeah u right
i feel like i'm forgetting everything i'm reading
the text is too voluminous for me to revise it
what to do?
write topics in a paper, and read (speaking) this topics
Modafinil
do you need to know everything in that text? or can you summarise the key parts and learn that stuff instead?

hi I was wondering about chagning my pomodoro habits a bit. Instead of always sticking to the 20 minute round I'd use it as a baseline, so I work at least 20 minutes, but if I enter flow and want to work more I can do so. will that work?
good luck!!
anyone in Comp sci classes in uni or who have taken C++ classes, what can i do to prepare for it beforehand?
how do i fix my handwriting (it looks like a 5 year olds writing)

I tried that before I learned about pomodoro, but I stopped because thinking about the time and whether I should stop actually broke my focus. Back then I probably also wasn't self-aware enough to know when I wasn't being productive and should take a break or not.

random question: how do you guys make use of the hours u have in a day.I don't feel im productive enough with the hours i put into my studying (im greek, and maybe its the differnt school system here)

⚠️ Hi @everyone!
I'm encouraging other students to open their minds to expressing emotions more often and easily and try to discuss topics they don't talk about in their own environment. I'm looking for people who are willing to participate in discussions from time to time on my discord platform that I'm creating and give their own ideas. im dealing with social anxiety and even if im talking to a long-time friend my mind shuts down
its always been there but this year it's getting worse, i dont know how to deal with it
reduce your carb intake
If you eat breakfast, you should be consuming a high fat/protein meal
take into consideration the sugary drinks u may be consuming
also, refrain from the different forms of hedonism. I choose not to get specific bc this is a general chat. But you got this! I used to have bad social anxiety during highschool a few years ago and overcame it
why reduce carb intake tho?
something I saw relating to our neurology, helps w mood stabilization
1Cup of dry oats, 2 cups of fruit of choice, 1Cup Water, 2 Scoops of protein, 4Tbps of quinoa, Maybe greek yogurt & you're set
This is really healthy, except the protein. It is highly recommended to try natural sources of protein instead, like egg whites.
i agree with that. Although for me it's really hard to consume 200g + of prot so it rly helps with powder
Best way to overcome a challenge is to soldier your way through it. I used to go to the city square and start talking to people
Try doing something similar.
thanks guys :))
i do talk to everyone and i dont shut up most of the time, but i get panic attacks and start stuttering out of nowhere ://
id say eggs instead of the dry oats and protein powder
The refined carbs aren’t ideal for a person suffering with serious anxiety
That’s true. I had the same problem. I do both refined carbs & oats depending on mood.. I started supplementing aswaganda & moving a lot more. I was able to stay more consistent but now im just a 🗿
how much should you study a week
is it a keto diet
Okayy. I wanted to try protein powder when I started gym and didn't have much time for meals, but a relative who is also a nutritionist, strongly suggested against that
ha yeah, I love my oatmeal
on days that I heavily workout I load up on the carbs. Like today I ran 10 miles, so I consumed much more carbs
mmh I lean toward a ketogenic diet that contains more vegetables
the store bought “keto diet friendly” foods suck. But as mentioned, your breakfast should fit for this “diet”
I also do intermittent fasting
oh its just keto leaning i almost had a mini heart attack
Try only talking when you inhale. It makes you sound more confident and helps you talk less + stutter less. (I had the same problem)
i would suggest u should ask that in the tech related help section
aw man the amount of insanity it would take for me to consume 150-200g of pro without powder is hard.
wait this works! thanks :))
hello guyz
I have a very specific question
it's about food.(yea)
I managed to reach the level of studying 12 hours a day
is giving me good results, but there is a problem that I can't solve.
I have no idea how to eat in that time.
With your experience, how do you do?
And with that I end up eating badly.
The main question is how do you organize yourselves in the meantime, who can help, I appreciate it.
Personally for lunch or dinner I make one of my breaks to be about 20 to 30 min, cook for 10, eat for 10/20. And then I just eat fruit in my regular 10 min breaks.
i am applying for kindergarten education in hungary (bachelors program), the hold a singing apititude test do i need to have voice like singers in this? do any one have idea on that?

why is it important for cybersecurity domains such as google and facebook to safeguard their data?
against misuse and against unauthorized access. Data leaks are never pleasant and could damage reputation and trust in a company. That's why cybersecurity specialist have to step up and avoid these data leaks. They have a responsibility to do so. Also big companies like facebook exist because of the scope/strength of data. Cybercriminals can do a lot with all the information regarding data and they can harm people with it and that's why it's a huge risk for individuals and the modern life, and for that reason those specialist need to keep the data safe. If you want to know more things about it just dm me
Hi, maybe you can try different culture cuisine.it helps to you I believe. Maybe you can join a group which teaches you cooking techniques. :p bro it can be very cool, try it asap!
i'd say every 5h take a longer break (35 minutes at least, 1h is better but ye student life lol) so you can eat. You probably need to get to batch cook so you don't spend as much time for every meal to prepare, and have simple snacks easy to grab like an apple, some nuts, yogurt ... keep in mind that feeding well yourself is as important as staying hydrated and sleeping enough so don't skip that
what is major, why do you need study 12+ hrs

Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask about some relationship advice. Not sure if this the right chat room to ask this.
Go to community plug-ins and search up anki
Use anki for flash cards links. So much better
What do you mean?
Anki is a separate app. Using the obsidian plug in you can write out flash cards in obsidian it will show up in anki
So it gives you spaced repetition

Watch this to set it up
It’s annoying but its worth it
I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING
thank you so much
i've been trying to get it working for like 4 hours lol
Awesome 🙂 you’re welcome
keep being epic ❤️
You've brightened my day, and I'm sure you will have put a smile on another person's face too!
I wanted to ask actually
What are everyone's study methods?
I'm interested in trying different kinds to see what suits me
I wanted to know also, is there a way i can export my Evernote notes to Obsidian?
I tried earlier but couldn't get the script to work
Not sure. Haven’t used Evernote before
I'll just transfer them manually
I managed to do it!
Anyone here knows how to solve this by any chance?
I think its A
cuz I did the math for 90,000 and that would be about a 50% profit so it must be lower then 90k. but since the net profit for 40k units is 0. Its then between 40k and 90k.
585k is fixed(static) with a dynamic 415k for 40k units.
So 90k unit is 1.556x of 40k.
415k times 1.556 = 645k + 585k(fixed) = 1.23 mil
25 (unit cost) times 90k units = 2.25 mil
clearly above 50% profit therefore it has to be between 40k units and 90k units so the answer is A
||Its like 3 am I am not going to prof read this or check my work so it may be wrong gn||
I just found out the answer is c. But thanks a lot for your answer!
Hey guys sorry I'm new. Is there a way to participate in the study rooms?
i think all you have to do is join one and start studying
hi guys, can u help fill the questionnaire for my accounts research on CBDC and cryptocurrency. Will appreciate your help.

can anyone please recommend me a good youtube channel to study 10th grade mathematics from
Yo I want to know how can I minimalize my smartphone any tips would do
I usually just shut it off, give it to a friend/family member while studying (accessing it takes an extra step so my brain doesn't make me impulsively pick it up and start scrolling), put it in a location where I can't see it (out of sight, out of mind), or I think the best solution to the problem is to make intervals everyday where you, while studying, don't use your phone for a certain amount of time, and increase the amount of time you are away from it progressively until it isn't much of an distraction anymore.
anyone really good at editing grammar in essays lol
i have around 800 words that need to be polished
the class is political science and the topic is nuclear escalation.
you dont need to know anything about the topic but a second pair of eyes for grammar/pacing mistakes would be really helpful :)
does anyone here have a premium quillbot/grammarly to borrow? or ask to input hehe
Thanks Bruh
I need help, I recently got an apple watch given to me from a friend it is an apple watch series 4. I have an iphone 5s I just now tried to pair the two but the Iphone is letting me know that I have to update to the latest IOS to pair with the watch, but the problem is that I cant. As it is an Iphone 5 there are no longer updates available. what can I do? any thoughts?
Perhaps you could try updating through iTunes rather than from the phone itself

Nothing you can do, only buying a new phone
What do you do when you don't feel like studying for the subject you need to study for?
I love biology but I feel like I can't really be bothered to study for it

try resetting your computer setting
in network and devices
mostly it might have been windows bugs
Here's one interesting motivation video, which reminds me of Atomic Habits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5x-KjBME_E

hello. is there anyone who is giving A levels this Jan and has Eco, business and accounting?
Hey everyone, I'm new to this community of studiers and hard-workers and I have a question. One of the main struggles that I have is being able to plan / schedule any of my time. To the point I stress even during actual school work, wondering if my time is being used well. I unhealthily procrastinate way too much and forget about the important things such as going to the gym or even eating sometimes. Can anyone provide me with information on how you guys organize your time, any specific applications or tools you guys use to schedule your week.
can y’all plz fill this survey out for my project? thank u! https://forms.gle/P4DX3aJSXxHJT6Lm6
I was just about to ask this here too
do u guys know of any good apps i could download on iphone that will show reminders on screen
I procrastinate way too much, welp-
i really like using notion or google calendar -- but tbh the biggest thing tahts worked for me is overloading my schedule. when you have too many things to do, and a narrow timing of when u can do it (ie having lots of meetings throughout the day/appointments), you wont procrastinate bc you'll be trying to use any time possible to get stuff done
iphone stop allowing oldphones to work with new technolagy
probs gonna need an upgrade
oh like ur ego is too big ?
any youtubers wanna be friends ? tryina make connections and build a netwrok
network*
nah its not about the ego
i just feel i know it all about a topic which in my friend circle do the most
but during the test and all i score average but in some cases where i think i can't make it i get a perfect score
Can anyone help me with physics?
I have a test on monday
I'm in first year electrical and comp engineering
how do u guys overcome low self esteem and stress during exams
i do quite well in tests and quizzes but not in exams
im afraid i will not live up to my other grades and others will judge me
also this exam is very important
it determines whether i can choose to study the subjects i like or not
but i probably can't... man :(
my mom always says, as long as you're healthy it doesn't matter, which helps me become less stressed lol
think of it as a quiz
desk starting to come together slowly but surely
- make sure you are studying the material well so you can reassure yourself and not have doubts about passing
- have a support or study group/partner to make sure you didn’t miss content or to have someone to talk in person who shares the same emotions and experience
- take a walk before the exam to relax yourself
- the night before the exam go over the material, have a good rest and plenty of sleep and, when you weak up have a healthy breakfast
when I say “study” I’m not talking about reviewing notes or slides I’m talking about actually doing problems or looking up practice test questions
hopefully that helps
I don't know if this one is discussed before but I have sleep problems. I don't mean that I can't sleep but my sleep quality is horrible. I'm trying to not use my phone 1 hour before sleep and I know that my sleep schedule is a mess. Other than these things, does someone have an advice for me? I feel mentally tired and my grades keep getting lower no matter how much I study. I don't think I study efficiently too.
I'm like a zombie right now and things are getting worse
do you know the cause of the bad quality sleep? are you staying up late on your phone or laptop?
yeah, I tried to avoid it but I didn't succeed
I believe I can do it though
you absolutely can. here's what working for me: i deleted everything on my phone, made it super boring. no snapchat, instagram, i even deleted discord. i wasn't sure initially about discord as its how i talk to most my friends but it just incentivises me to be up quickly in morning (eat breakfast, get on for working on pc as that's where discord is too) and makes it very boring to be on phone at night
how many hours of sleep are you getting roughly?
looking for some help on how to take in definitions and notes, atm i read and summarise the notes onto a different page but it never really goes in, all help would be appreciated with exams coming up
I also struggle to stay motivated while studying, the first hour i focus well and am please but in second hr I tend to sit there and am less productive, by the third hour I am dead, I do 50 mins of work theb a break for 15 mins roughly
I deleted everything too except youtube, because I use it for studying
I should stop clicking on those reels, they really a waste of time
around 6-8 hours
and some days are less than that
depends on the schoolwork I'm busy with
How can I stop wasting my time in social media?🥲
delete it or keep the things that you use social media on as away as possible
Either permanently delete account or if you can't do that use an app blocker maybe
this might be completely off topic and maybe not suitable for this particular channel but i am really curious to know who is this gentlemen from james' video
that is me
set a timer from app settings
what does everyone during 10 minute breaks
since im not really using my phone i never know what to do for those 10 or 15 mins
stretch, walk, make tea, do chores etc
charles darwin maybe?
when you take notes from slides or lectures don’t write them down word by word I want you to summarize/paraphrase them in your own words. try not to memorize as you can always forget try your best to understand the concepts throughly and to check your understanding do actual problems or try to explain the concept to someone who doesn’t know what it is and don’t spend too much time reading and summarizing unless it is required because that method of learning is boring and you can only learn so much in my opinion
don’t delete the app delete your account so you have no reason to download again since your account is gone or use apps that disable you to use those apps
this helps a lot tysm for ur help
Thank you sm
can anyone share their experience with notion ? is it really affective or these youtube videos r just ads ?
shout out to all my boys studying on the dinner table
i used to do that, then a grew up
nice lad
what about whatsapp
I took an old phone here and put only uber and spotify on it.
I think it's a good strategy.
brrr shiki bi dop dop dop dop yes yes yes yes
the man in your profile🤙🏾
Do u guys have any tips for exam prep . Making notes etc
hahahaahha yea
you don't want to rewrite notes or just read or higlight, that is highly inefective
what you want to do is try a self test, try giving a class
If you have no one on hand, you can film yourself then review the footage, if you don't have access to self tests (you can't find one online or in a book) you can use a blurt method, where you write all concepts that you can remember down on a piece of paper and then when nothing comes to mind, look at your notes and see what you missed, then revise that
the rule of thumb is more effort better study, it needs to feel somewhat challenging, otherwise you won't intergrate the knowledge
of course for self tests or clases you need to know what you are talking about, so you do need to spend some time reading your notes
who can unlock coursehero?
Converted my pc into windows 9x. Tried to make a pleasing aesthetic theme going on. Any ops? (edit: planning to use this daily and remove games as winter break is coming to an end. I return back to school on Tuesday. Having a pleasing environment overall just makes me focus a lot better)
delete it or fill it with boring stuff or turn it into a studygram, you can get motivated by looking at studying videos
I mean it still counts as wasting but yeah
I did all of that then deleted them
why bother watching when you can achieve them 🙄
and then this is me yesterday
have you tried making your own exam sheet and solve them?
Thanks that was really helpful
I just have an exam tomorrow so I’m stressing
no what is an exam sheet?
is that a study timetable of some sort?
wassuuupp-- i need help as well
hehe
imma bout to take my university entrance exam, but my question today is not about maths, it's about life goals
i've already searched some videos about short term goals and life term goals on youtube, but idk why i still feel like i can't figure things out
so im here to gather amazing advices from yall! thank u
here are my questions:
- do u place ur goals in orders in life? do u measure a specific period of time for each goal? if u do, how can u measure those accurately and know that u ain't fantasizing or just "predicting"?
- do those goals support each other? are all goals are important or u prioritize some of them?
- whats ur firm belief that helps u know that i can do this by having this belief ?
meow meow thats all, i appreciate all ur answers and hope yall have a nice day
thank u
not really, let me give you an example
let's say that the teacher gave you the subjects that you'll be responsible in the exam.
then you write it all down, read untill you believe you know all of them
then you take an empty paper and write questions like
1- what is blablabla (a thing about the subjects)?
- then you left a blank space for the answer
2- What's the difference between ( ) and ___?
basically an exam paper
then you answer all of them
or you can read it all and write it down to an empty paper and then see what you don't remember and read it again
then take another empty paper and do it all untill you memorize everything
it only works on verbal subjects though
bro, how you do that?
looks rlly good imo. what's the bg source?
how do you guys remember older topics
just revisited one and i feel like i know nothing
use the unhook extension for removing mindless youtube hours. searching up videos and subscriptions are still there but you get to be a lot more intentional with the platform
thank you for mentioning this, i've always wanted a way to minimalize youtube and this is exactly what i envisioned
np! it's really helped me!
i find that site blockers are really easy to get around and using this still lets me use youtube for entertainment but a lot more intentionally so i don't waste hours on end
Hey everybody
I've been on this journey of self-improvement and studying for a long time now, and I've always managed to do very well in school
But I know I can do more. I feel like I have so much potential and I really want to put everything I have into practice. I want to excel, you know?
I'm in a period of my "academic road" where a lot of challenges will appear. I'm going to have to study for long hours, much longer and harder than I have ever done before
But I haven't been able to get in the right frame of mind to do that
I want to become a beast, if you get what I mean. I want to flip a switch in my brain and meet the guy that is sitting deep in my soul, waiting to go all out
And even though I am "trying", I am just not getting there, you know?
I keep falling into old habits or saying "oh, I am gonna flip that switch 5 minutes from now. Just one more video. Oh, I am gonna start being a monster tomorrow"
I want to go all out, but I think I am afraid of committing to it. It truly feels like once I am there, once I accept that I am putting all I have into that "real me", there is no going back
I feel and know that I will stop doing things I seem to enjoy now, like spending a lot of time on useless stuff. I know it's useless, I want to flip that switch but those superficial temptations keep getting to me
Once again, I feel afraid of breaking that fragile shell and staring deep into what I fear and what I want
I would highly appreciate your thoughts. Even tho you might think you don't have a lot to say, I would be really thankful to read your piece of mind. I am not sure if I need a wake up call or what, but thank all of you in advance
tldr: that sofa lookin hella cozy and i want to watch one more episode of gundam, but deep down i feel like becoming a navy seal
have you read "can't hurt me" by david goggins? because what you said reminds me of that book and i'm kind of in the same place as you are lol
there is always the possibility that the hardcore lifestyle that you seem to want might not be right for you, but there's no way to find out for sure what's right for you until you try. It could be that your fear is the only thing holding you back, and that you're ready to become an academic (or real!) navy seal. Or, you may just want certain attributes of being hardcore like a harder work ethic, but you may not necessarily want to sacrifice things like spending time with family, for instance.
I personally think that everyone should give the hardcore lifestyle a try at least once in their lives, because like David Goggins said, we're all living at about 40% of our potential and we can all be so much more. If it's not for you, that's perfectly fine too! but you can still reap the benefits of having a more resilient mind and a higher mental pain tolerance.
P.S. if you do decide to embark on that journey, please feel free to let me know in da dms. like i said before i'm in the exact same scenario as you are and i'm looking for someone like-minded to keep me accountable and support me
Heck yeah brother!
Haven't read can't hurt me yet, but I will be getting my hands on that and do what you recommended: give it a good shot.
I am knocking on your dms rn
TBH i need to quit social media for a while to save my mental health
Thank u, but i think my problem it’s instagram ~(>_<~)
Same for me , i was struggling with reels alot and i couldnt delete instagram cuz i needed it for messaging so i just deleted it from my phone and im messaging through laptop browser , much better and its annoying to watch reels or stories on browser so its an ez way to quit it , but if u r addicted to scrolling u need to find other solutions ,
I noticed a lot asked for the bg I can post it here
I have a ton of stuff to do today but I feel so motivation to do it or more like I'm lazy
some people study better if they’re streaming their work or if they can see other people working, it helps keep them accountable
and so the study rooms help facilitate that accountability
@young umbra
Can someone kill me
I've just been selected to compete in journalism representing my school against other schools. I don't know if I should go because I've been selected to write in my native language, which I'm very much terrible at. Idk If I should just back off and hand it off to other students in my school or continue. We have 9 days to train... Should I go?
I dk if this is the right chat but I want someone to discuss
I'm studying lots of hrs and understanding the theory, I am able to solve problems
But when it comes to the exams I can't focus and answer right
Idk what to do anymore
(Tag me if you answer smth so I can be able to see it... Thnks)
Also tag me cause i be having the same problem
if your problem is only during the exams, it could be some kind of mental block where you just blank during the exam, and if that’s the case, i’d say a good way to go about it is to make your studying memorable.
if your test is more theory and memory-recall based, you could try to associate different concepts with different objects, songs, or anything else you’ll remember. as long as it’s unique, you can try to associate it with a certain concept. i heard somewhere that this is what professionals use in memory contests when they have to remember big numbers and stuff like that. i’ve never tried a strategy like that myself, but i can imagine it being helpful if you know the concept, but you just get stuck on test day.
if your test is problem-based, you can still use this strategy! in my physics class, for example, most problems on the test are just different ways of testing concepts that we were taught in class, so if you can associate a couple of concepts with a certain playlist and run through them, you may have a higher chance of stumbling upon the correct formula or whatnot to solve the problem at hand.
i’m not 100% sure any of this will be helpful for certain, but i figured it’s better to offer something than to say nothing at all. if it does help, great! good luck on your tests in the future. i believe in you :)
@neon geode @robust canopy because i magically forgot to ping everyone involved
Thnx a lot my friend
then deleting all of them can really help
especially instagram, I had the biggest problem with insta
the first weeks without instagram felt like torture but I got used to it
when I upload it again months later just to post stuff and delete again it seemed boring to use
I'm glad I stopped before it get too late for that
How to deal with YouTube addiction on mobile?
I uninstalled it, i have to go on my computer now
did the same with social media
now i just have a "dumbphone", like an elderly phone
there is a period of discomfort but that can be midigated with gradual replacement
install an app that can limit usage
I got one that when turned on i couldn't turn off or uninstall
My problem is I don't have a pc I need yt sometimes for stuff
then in the time you can't use it, replace it with other activities : reading, socializing etc
you can still access youtube on webrowers, its a pain, but it will prevent you to only use it when necessary
Oh
prevent you from using it when not needed and allow you to only use it when necessary **
I hope I can get over it I have finals in a week and today my screen on time went all time high of 13 hours
I hate myself
procrastination
Even when I don't use anything I start daydreaming
@gaunt coyote Do you know any app that calculates background time also? Digital wellbeing on android only calculates foreground tasks eg spotify is not calculated
uh, my phone broke so I don't have it on my at the moment, so I wouldn't be able to tell you sorry
Ah I see
what does jay study
Go to parental controls, activate digital wellbeing and set a timer to YouTube
Don’t say this pls. We are all on a journey🤍
When you pass the time limit you can't open it anymore until the next day
The first week is a little bit difficult
Or start small! I like to let it uninstalled in the week and install it again every weekend
But then you will realize that you don't need it
I just reset timer every time :(
Uninstalled let's see what happens
Gonna use app called newpipe i set it to only display search no acc no recommendations
oh that interesting
For me, the key has been to be living more intentionally, making conscious and ratioonal decisions
so i tried to get rid of all the mindless activies like doomscrolling
bro you are worried about the wrong thing just focus on finals 💀
that's why i am reducing screen time
hello i'm new the server
i wanted to join mainly for finding an accountability partner but it looks like their is no specific chat so..
Can the study buddies chat also be used for finding an accountability partner?
you can use study buddies to find accountability partners, yes
just used it for that purpose yesterday ^^
What does accountability partner mean?
for me, it’s someone who checks in on me to keep me on track, and someone who i can show what i’ve done for the day. i study in my room a lot and i don’t like it when my family comes in my room because it’s startling, so an accountability partner helps to be that check-in so that i don’t get too far off course
any tips on how to polish essay writing skills? i have an entrance exam next month and they will give us a random topic to write an essay on.
You guys often study early in the morning
Cause when i study super early, i instead got my head bricked
Like i just study 4am in the morning, currently is 2pm and my head kinda hard to think, especially when is physic class rn haha
the earlier it is the fresher you are i think
Maybe think about bigger breaks to let your head breath, a nap in between even
Yeah, but everytime I study earlier, later that day i can hardly think
Maybe it’s juste the time to get used to it
oh I see
Yeah i think so
I have to grind for college admissions test
@sick stream Hey will you keep me in check?
sure, if you’ll do so for me too :)
Hey guys! This message is mostly for CS students 🙂 I'm thinking on the idea of opening a coding club at my uni, though I study economics. Could you please share your knowledge on how coding can be applied in economics/business. I would really appreciate to read your opinion on this!
Hi, does anyone have a premium grammarly account? My essay has some grammatical errors and I want to fix them. I'd really appreciate the help.
helllo
lets go
why does a ideal current source has a infinite internal resistance ?
thanks
what can help you to study when u have adhd?
in my personal experience it helps to loop an album or playlist that you really like, perhaps something repetitive, i find it gives me a baseline dopamine boost and it’s easier for me to tolerate sitting there for hours on end
obviously you need to rid yourself of all distraction. i’ve deleted youtube from my phone and i don’t use any social media anymore. if you don’t wanna go down that route i suggest a screentime app (apple has a feature built in but i never found it very effective), but i recommend deleting youtube and tiktok specifically from your phone. they’re the apps that i imagine would tempt you the most to press that “15 more minutes button”
the environment you study in is also very important. if you can, make sure you’re in a well-lit area where nobody’s gonna walk in and disturb you, and make sure you have everything you need to study within arm’s reach
a bonus tip for the actual studying itself! recall testing is the best way to memorize concepts and retain them. a lot of people, myself included, use anki to test themselves and i highly recommend it, it got me a 100% on my first of many ap psychology vocabulary tests
hope that helps
New discord hack dropped DO NOT JOIN RANDOM SERVERS
I swear, I've seen this type of trick before.
However, I didn't think much about it.
Either way, I didn't have Nitro back then.
If I have a lot of subjects to revise and no idea how to continue. Is giving practice tests a better way to revise as compared to rewatching lectures/rereading notes or should I stick to the latter?
I think I am a bit scared to know my real status through tests.
Any suggestions? I have mostly given full length tests so far instead of individual subjects.
I am one to talk but I think if the tests are flexible, it's better to take them once you've revised your notes. That way, you'll be judging your actual status
If you know the fundamental topics for each exam first, do the practice tests. Otherwise catch up on each subject by looking over everything you have learned over the semester and sectioning it off into different parts. Then revise until youre happy with your knowledge for each section and do the practice tests. If the tests have more detail than what you have revised then go back and revise more deeply. This ensures you dont waste time and can efficiently practice and calibrate how deeply to study based off your practice test performance
Why can't i type in study buddies?
If anyone needs help with learning discord bots or need to hire someone to do discord bots I got u
On it, thank you @young umbra and @vale kiln 🤍
anyone know python?
@proven plaza .
Forest users how can I see the time left on the lock screen (IOS)?
lmaooo i thought u were asking someone to read you the miranda rights ahahhahahah
i was about to hit you with the "you have the right to remain silent and shit", my smooth brain
what's the best way to not be tired?
basically i have to go to school some times of week (my semester is almost over)
and i get really tired when i come back
i still have to study like 5-6 hours after school
ik sleeping is a solution but that takes away like 1-2 hours which i can't do rn cuz finals are near
Hello... I am studying Master of Business right now.. but i didn't have business background. I was graduated with Media Production. I kind of need a lot of help with some HR assignments.. Is there anyone wanna help me? I am from Myanmar btw. Just add me and let me know. need study buddies ...
hi
Study in school. Take lunch from home, eat in school, and start studying there (in an empty classroom or something). Only leave when you're done. I have been doing this for a while and it works pretty well :)
I actually have my practical exams going on, i think the max i would be able to do in school is revise my notes, thanks for the advise though! ^^
I have never had those, sorry lol. But yeah, eat lightly, drink lots of water, avoid too much caffeine and sugars. Try eating more protein than carbs and exercise your body. If you're gonna take a power nap (20mins), drink your coffee before the nap
Avoid the sofa and bed at all costs, make sure your study place is well lit and follow your sleep cycles :)
hello i'd like to ask if anyone has a paypal Account, i have a few doubts regarding it
I kinda can't seem to focus, but I really need to. And the pomodoro thing... maybe I'm not doing it right, but it doesn't really work or help with my focusing. And I'm talking about when I'm in a library with no distractions around, not even my phone
So, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears
I have finals in a week
Hello , is there any chrome extension or site , where it needs our strong commitment(where it gives punishments for not completing the task ) to make and complete our to do lists ?..just like an extension called OWl productivity ?
caffeine plus l-thianine or modafinil
Can't have caffeine for health reasons or I'd definitely be drowning in it already, and thankyou!
then ask ur doc about modafinil. its generally considered safe but definitely stay away from ritalin and adderall
Maybe the pomodoro method isn’t right for you? I don’t think it fits everyone so you could try a different timing and see if that’s the problem
No no
Definitely talk with your doctor about adhd asap. For now, however, what you can do is improve your diet, do some sort of physical exercise, get a good night of sleep, study in silence and write your distractions on a piece of paper.
If you ever feel like losing focus, force yourself to keep reading/studying
Sorry but adhd? There aren’t even enough information to think of that. Also I wouldn’t really recommend forcing yourself to keep studying even if you’re not able to at the moment, perhaps a day of rest is needed and they’ll get back to usual functioning
Better to check than to just shrug it off. It's also an opportunity to ask the doctor about focusing issues
About forcing or not, we may have different ways of studying, and that's fine :) they should try it out and see what works
Yeah for sure try different stuff!! Also yeah it’s good to talk about adhd and similar issues
Hello everyone, I'm going to participate in a Model United Nations (MUN) soon, did anyone partake in one and would be willing to give me a few tips? Thanks !

but im so lazy to do so
any tips or advice please
- always bring a book with so you can read anytime you have a little break (that you would typically use on your phone)
-set reasonable goals: 1 page a day is better for a year is better than 50 the first 2 weeks of january and never again later
-if you don't read for content but for the looks of it, it may not stick very well; i'd recommend you start with small books, or genres that you know you like or that you are genuinely interested in.
-if carrying all sorts of books aren't your vibes, try other means (digital, audiobooks)

U gota rearrange the lower part so it matches. Then u multiply the bottom one by 7 so Ys are the same and then u substract. U get x than u use x in one of those and find y (x:y)=(2/11; 37/11)
you could rearrange the bottom equation so that it is y = ...
in this case y=2x+3
then substitute y=2x+3 into the top equation
3x - 7(2x+3) + 23 = 0, then solve for x
once you have x substitute it into y=2x+3 and get y
you can also do what spy neti did and you get the same answer!
hey guys I've been felling low these two days and i cant focus while studying could give me some help

my room looks like a soggy biscuit, can anyone give me tips or recommedations on how to make it look better?
Your room's colour is white by keeping everything minimalistic and adding some mirrors will help
Plus DE-CLUTTERIZE all your stuff FIRST AND FOREMOST and keep em in an organized place👍
Candles, fairy golden lights are available fairly cheaply and add much value!
That's another great idea!!!
I’m using one smart bulb to change all colour of my room
Some plants would be a great idea
Like 2 big ones and 3,4 smaller ones like monstera
Or any other Green plant
Generally, plants calms you down
And make the room more beautiful
But keep the minimal look
It's awesome
Hey everyone, does anyone know how Apache Solr (9.1.0) works and can explain me something about boosting individual fields?
Can I only learn from textbook alone if Idk anything about chapter
Yt slowly sucks me in
Hello-everyone
Yeah, learning from a textbook without anything else is definitely possible, and sometimes even better than watching a video about it.
Maybe you feel a little bit lost about how to go about it? I would recommend starting by reading the whole chapter and underlining/highlighting important pieces of information while taking notes and drawing
Then you just do exercises! If you have any questions about a certain topic, just google it until you understand it, or ask a teacher/friend
(Highlighting has been scientifically proven to not be as effective as other methods, but it has always worked for me. Adjust your method with your experience and other techniques)

@light widget "always interview for your job"
I'd you're interviewing to be a barista it's weird to go in a shirt and tie; if you're interviewing for a business role it's weird NOT to. So what clothes to wear really depends what the job is
Ayo, I'm kinda new here so i don't quite get how everything goes, but I wanna study with someone for 25 minute sessions and 5 minute breaks, like the whole day, how can I do that??
well if you are good at understanding from book then go for it but if its math i prefer you to watch lectures first
If anybody has done politics for A levels or some sort of learning on British government and Northen Ireland,
any book recommendations to help??
what is the purpose of data mining?
Don't write on it
On a serious note : use a glass cleaner/ sanitiser and a clean cloth
If it's been a while since you cleaned, you can add a bit of dish soap to warm water and spray it to clean the board
Which thesis do you think fits for all 3 examples?
(Background Info, I'm writing about the book Fences by August Wilson. Using betrayal as the theme and using characterization as writing strategy)
Thesis:
Wilson uses characterization to develop the theme of betrayal to show that when a person is self centered it can lead to deterioration in his relationships.
Wilson uses characterization to develop the theme of betrayal to show that when a person does something for his own self-benefit it can lead to deterioration in his relationships.
or Other
Examples:
1 - Troy (father) rejecting his son's football scholarship without his consent. Doesn't care what his son (Cory) thinks.
2 - Troy stole money from his mentally unstable brother for his own use twice. Refused to say he stole money from him.
3 - Troy cheats on his wife for another women to pleasure himself and be his true self after 15+ years of marriage.
(sorry if this is a bit messy)
Still applies

Hi, Could someone explain what methodological research is please?

Anyones got any bucket list ideas, that are not taking much energy from you?
I have a winter break in a week or two, and i want to take a little break from gaming
build your own radio station
host your own website with neocities
learn a martial art (muay thai and kickboxing are pretty cool)
if you aren't already get your /fit/ness up (cardio is a great start, just run around your neighborhood)
the best bucket lists leave you feel more full as a person by the end, and give you a good story to tell others
Question: Anyone know good sites to get statistics on? Something similar to statista, where international statistics are compiled into one cohesive report? I need stats on drunk driving rates per country, as well as the average age of people involved/dying in car crashes
you would need to use google scholar and cite a real study on it

How am I supposed to make it through a 528 page textbook for coding class for AN 8 WEEK CLASS?
full time student + full time job. This semester might be too much
Forgot to mention, I have 2 of these kinds of classes, at the same time. Both for coding, both with huge textbooks, both 8 week classes, and going on at the same time.
i mean idk what uni does what but generally textbooks have more material than what you cover in a class. and it's coding you are supposed to write code not read a whole textbook. again, idk how it works there but i treat textbooks as reference materials
anyone got tips on time management? i feel like im spending too much time by just reading the text and learning nothing
is that a time management problem or a problem that your study method causes?
if you are not studying efficiently time management isn't going to help that much. you need to change your approach
have a think about how you are reading, maybe you'd be more efficient by pre-reading or working on a more 'scanning' style of reading
i try to underline sometimes that kind of helps but rechecking etc take some time
flow charts are nice but my hand already hurts so much due to exams
taking notes will help, 'active' reading is better then passive reading
what sort of material are you reading?
for me the 'learning' happens when I go back over the notes I made while reading
chem, like headings and mostly some formulae and comparisons
ill try that like rereading after a break or smth
for me the best process is something like this:
quick pre-read, like sub headings, looking at figures, and so on
go back over the areas that seem the most important and take notes
then go over the notes once I've read a couple of different sections
ssing this rn
there are plenty of good guides to improve reading skills and such
but it all takes time, it's a skill that you will improve on with practice
hmm thanks man ill try to do smth similar to ur method and hopefully itll work
i still have like 4 months in finals so
you'll get there, stay consistent and make gentle effort
yessir thank you
they need to verify in #welcome-verification
Schedule for his streams?
he's been unwell though so it's all a bit flexible
@young umbra
anybody know what political polarization is? i got a paper due soon and im stuck
people moving towards extremes politically and not being able to find common ground
using U.S politics as an example
I forget how long ago, but there was a point where every issue wasn't cleanly cut on party lines
you had democratic leaders voting in favor of laws viewpoints brought up by republicans and vice versa
now it is split so you will never see democrats pass republican bills and vice versa
hmm okk
if you're only used to reading fiction the beginning will be just like that; you'll get bored and struggle to read past the first few chapters. what I'd recommend is only reading books that you are interested in rather than what someone / goodreads throws at you. for example, maybe one day you are talking to a friend and you realize that you don't have much knowledge about a certain topic that sounds fun to you (idk what your interests are but it can be anything, music, history, business, psychology), when I find such a topic I take note of it and later in the day i quickly look up the book that's recommended the most
if you're reading topics that you find genuinely interesting and that you searched up rather than what someone recommended you or because you felt like you needed to read it because it's a "classic", you'll find it easier to read without getting bored and most importantly you'll actually enjoy reading it
you can worry about reading the "classics" later after you've developed the taste for nonfic :)
Don't try and read them cover to cover, skim the preface (if it is interesting/important) and read the intro. The pre-read the chapter titles and headings. That lets you get an idea of which parts of the text are most relevant and appealing to your context. Read those sections. That might peak an interest in other parts of the text, if not they are always there to return to later.
what are some good apps for note taking/organisation, like notion (i find notion overwhelming and cannot get it up and running to what i want)
for a student
@dim reef everyone gonna have their own opinions. I tried evernote for about 4-6 months and didn't like it, now I use notebooks for everything
I would just be googling the error code s bunch
Any tips for text memorization anyone?
what you trying to remember? Spaced repetition used to be all the rage, but don't know if it's still a popular technique. Flash card programmes like Anki can do it for you automatically.
I have final exams in 4 months and our system is based on memorizing word for word since im in humanities (history, latin etc). It's hard to memorize lots of things in a few hours before lessons
I'll try flashcards 😊
@young umbra there's probably a bunch of flash card programmes out there, Anki was the one I used a while back. It's cool as the more you get a card right the longer it leaves it until it shows you that card again
which is supposed to help place something into your long term memory
sounds good for me. Tysm !
anyone know how to use #to-do-lists please tell me
I think you just write out your list, and doctorate it how you like, then come back and edit as you finish tasks.
usually what time do you guys sleep at night for exams?
Can anyone recommend good sites to practice SQL questions that is not leetcode?
Guys can anyone help me with the steps to make a to do list with checkboxes in the to do list channel...... New to discord🥹
you basically type out your list as a message, decorating it with emojis as you like, then once you have completed a task you back to the message and edit it to mark the task as completed
K I need some advice
I have my midterm exam in 11 hours and I haven’t studied anything apart of the first half of chapter 1
Can you guys please help me or give me advice on how I can manage my time and move faster in the subject
try leetcode
try to find youtube videos on the concepts that you will be tested on, that might help you learn them faster. If not, then break the time you have left into the different sections/chapters and study all of them. (leave some time to do practice problems if possible). Be confident on the stuff you feel like you might already know, and focus on topics that you dont.
also just get off discords lol
Ight ight I will
Thanks buddyyyy✨
Nice looks like you nailed it
hi ! i need advice on how you focus more when studying etc hence how to stop procrastinating or have to the ability to self discipline?
personally, i love pretty stationary, pretty coffee, and pretty music, so while im studying i make sure to have at least 2/3 :) i find myself looking forward to a study sesh instead of dreading it
just what worked for me, everyone has a different method
I sleep regularly at 10pm but i wake up at 2am to study more
Im more of a morning person
wow 4 hours of sleeping, i can't do it
even 7 for me isn't enough
i'm happiest at 9 hours lmfao
I got 3 hours today
Life is not fun
you can try downloading books in fb2 format, there are many apps on Android and iPhone that read such files, and on the Internet you can find entire libraries with e-books of this format
watch james studying
download from vk website in epub format, just search the name of the book and vk after in google. download and read where you like.
willpower is weak so remove distractions as much possible. Using your phone when you should be studying? Put it in a different room. Keep access websites that aren't for your work? Set up some hard blocks, or if possible turn off the internet while you work.
Make lists of small achievable goals.
It takes ~30 days to build a habit so set yourself the challenge of developing a positive study habit over the next 30 days, start today!
whats a website i could use to find textbooks ?
How do I take good notes? I always either write down every little detail, and don't check them later because its overwhelming, or I write too little info and don't look at them because I don't have enough.
So how do I find a good balance, and what other things should I do while taking notes in class?
You talking about just taking from classes or while reading too?
Both, but mainly classes.
I'll preface this by saying I'm sure it's pretty personal and one person's approach might be best for another person
i personally write every single detail and then after class or few days before the exam i just take the most important stuff and write it on an new page so i have like a study page thingy
dont be like me tho :]
But, for me, I found I did a lot better when I took notes of things to look up later. So rather than trying to just write out the whole class I will listen and then whenever a point is raised that seems important, or a source is mentioned I will make a note of it with the intention of going over it after the class
For me that meant I paid more attention during the class and left the class already knowing what I was going to go over and look up when I got home
Let me know if that makes sense
Also if you can ask the teacher for a copy of any slides being shown
thanks! that seems like a good approach.
yeah almost all my teachers make their slides available
Nice, so you can chill knowing that all that info is available to you, so you don't need to write it down. Then you can focus your energy and listening and paying attention for the key areas that need going over later
Another good thing to make note of is anything you don't get. So then you can talk to your classmates/teacher afterwards to clarify the stuff that confused you.
Cos like, that's where the most learning is to be done. The stuff you understand straight away is easy
thanks, and then i usually try to make flashcards afterward with all the important terms and stuff
yeah nice! Have you looked at flash card programmes like Anki?
yup
epub better
kinda same
just solve some ques bank or something from that chap
and refer to ur notes whenever you get stuck
you eventually get all of that in your head while also experiencing how to apply all that info in an exam etc,
lib z, library genesis
Wanna get up at 5 or even 4 am but everytime I wake at 8 any tips on how to wake up early especially it this freezing winter ?

Just got a reply from some guy impersonating james and trying to get peoples numbers.
the guys channels name is jay skullz.
I think moderators should take a look and probably ban him before someone is tricked into messaging that number.
<@&1050536614306267217>
is this james himself???????????
Ask Max Thomas
who is he?
no it's not, coversall was being sarcastic
it's a scam, if your question was serious
no
i literally said its a guy impersonating james
We aren't modding his channel, we can't do anything about it unfortunately
under what video was that comment?
Any law students in here
Got this too, months ago, so it’s safe to say the scammer has been around for awhile. Be careful yall
hii, what temperature light is suitable to study? for day and night
you gotta experiment, its different for different people
warm lights i prefer
i switched to it and it helped me alotttttttttttt
Anyone knows in what movie James was working?
ok thanks
where do you guys find question banks, are they freely available for most textbooks?
try checking coursehero, and then find a discord server with a Coursehero Unlock bot. That's what I did for my 'Intro to Computing' subject. It helped me a lot.
how long do you wait for the document unlocks to work
it's really quick actually, but I believe you can only get 15 unlocks a day using the bot.
oh wow, that sounds really good then. thanks, i'll check it out
It wasnt a video actually. IT was one of his community posts the one made 8 days ago about james saying "hi guys- sorry for the late notice" etc
good job with the announcement :)
have a good day Marie
hey everyone, are we free to join any study room call? or do we have to sign up somewhere to join?
yes, you can enjoy any studyroom
Hey guys, recently learned about James and his studying. Just wondering how you can study for 12 hours a day if you have classes which are in person.
For example, i see that he has studied 12 hours everyday for a year. This is simply impossible for someone like me as I have to attend at least 2 in person lectures a day
how do i become more aware of whats around me? like being aware in different environments and self awarness
This kinda sounds like a weird question but does anyone know how one can change their mindset?
Regarding?
I think one wisdom that helped me a lot is that it doesn't matter what my past or circumstance is. What really matters is how I react to it/them. Changing the mindset is a step by step process. Sometimes your mind will wish to make you stop, to choose an easy way. It's a choice which comes up again and again. How you react to it every single time accumulates to the resultant mindset when it comes to discipline. Same goes for every field. Day by day, things add up to give your current state of mind. To make a drastic change, you need to shove your mind with what you wish to be, and gradually be absorbed by it. At the start, the resistance is high, and then gradually you'll change if you continue with it.
I don't use Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp not at all
But whenever I use youtube i always end up wasting my time watching shorts.
How can I stop ?
Thanks for this ❤️
as soon as you realise you trapped in a youtube hole get up and leave your computer
turn it off
taking a ten min break away from your PC is better then wasting an hour on youtube
literally stand up and walk away
I think he was up and at his desk by 0400 most days, it was also during covid he started so I don't think he had lessons in person
but I could remembering it wrong
Thank you for this 👍🏼
that helped me also, i also sometimes do pushups or little exercise
yeah, go stand outside, take 10 deep breathes
I do 100 pushups 30-40 a time in the morning 🙂
don't be hard on yourself either, be kind. we all have habits and behaviours that we are stuck in, so it's ok to get distracted. The important thing is to take action when you realise you have fallen into the behaviour.
yea, thats better than being hard for a month and just forgetting about making your self better, and then doing it again when final exams or a dead line comes up
Thanks
I'm always trying to improve but sometimes I go back to my oldself without even knowing
write down your thoughts when your pumped up, and read them occasionally and add/edit them. journaling also helps, it can tell what kind of things you were thinking like a month ago and what problems were there and stuff
it's all a process, progression is never linear
but each time you slip into your old habit you have another chance to learn, so you can see those moments as an opportunity
Yeah. James's videos also helped me a lot in those times
Heyoo! I'm in trouble. Tomorrow's a deadline for a (20 pg) project I haven't started yet. I need a bibliographic resource on modern architecture. Do you now any online library with books of any genre in pdf?
