when i was a beginner (i still highk am) i also would want to design the best and biggest project ever and i ended up designing a drug delivery system based on bioinf, we won a competition and all because it was all about design and not the actual project getting done

but then we were so happy (me and my teammates i mean 😭 ) and since we win competitions our project must be so good right

but in the end we realise we did not focus on the basics enough and we got told we would need a computer from NASA or something to be able to do that project so now it's kind of in trashbin..........

that is why i said start small but do not stop your research about the bigger project

or you could just also give it your all and start from 0 and build something big still - it is totally doable too

i guess it just depends on person but generally its good to take baby steps

either way it will look good on your cv, you found a problem and tried to provide a solution

I think its the indecision of making a project that can boost my career vs the knowledge ill gain, both will obviously allow me to learn something but i feel like the foundational approach would allow for more indepth knowledge later on.... but the career progress I would make from finder varients linked to drug resistance would be huge since South Africa (where i am currently) is having a massive TB problem..... ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
