sometimes dont even add them entirely since they just interfer with the design too much

Nope, however there are some bodies which can fit a massive V16/V12. Just gotta find the right one even if it means lots of scrolling

what kinda engine are you using and which body are you trying to fit it in?

some automation bodies that haven’t been updated in a while like the ‘65 hatch (Satsuna/Datsun Cherry) and the ‘70 van (Ford Econoline I think) do have stupidly small engine bays, but I’ve found that most of the bodies that have come out since the 4.2 update in late 2021 do have pretty generous engine bays

Try one of the landbarge bodies from 63 or 66, they can accommodate pretty large engines.

use 3D fixtures.
Don't use 2D unless you switch between them depending on the fixture position - size and placement.

Also keep in mind - not all fixtures are functional after exportation.

There's a video I did on the subject and some sample descpription code to make sure you are formatting it correctly. There is code to copy/paste in the video description (of course setting your prop numbers correctly for your build)

In older versions of the game I found that if you had mirrored fixtures the fixture count in automation counted both as 1, where the exporter counted them as 2, causing the numbers to be off. In the latest updates I have found that the numbers were correct for me (I just did a steering wheel a few days ago using the number shown in the Fixtures tab on the left side), but if you are still having issues, try to figure out which fixture IS moving and see how many fixtures away that is on the list from what should be moving and try adding that many to your prop number. It is possible a mod prop may be getting counted incorrectly

Also important to remember that if you replace a fixture, add a mirror to a fixture that was previously placed as single, or do some ctrl-z undo functions you are likely going to rearrange the fixture numbers, causing you to redo the description prop commands

I haven't tried this, but the "electrics" of "nitrousOxideArm" is activated (turn from 0 to 1) when NOS is armed. That should mean that you can use the same name "nitrousOxideArm" in the prop command to trigger movement when it is armed. Then convert that 1 to lateral or rotational movement and multiply it by the factor you need at the end of the prop command. As I said, I haven't tested that, but it should work

The documentation has some, and you can find others in other sections of the documentation (like the Nitrous Oxide Injection documentation mentions this one), but sometimes you just need to look at the code and see what gets referenced by existing controllers or props and work backwards. Or just guess and trial and error it, lol

Just made my own replica version of BMW M3 GTR from NFS MW by adding my own touches in engine & performance specs to make it more suitable to my vision of an easy to drive machine with highest possible stability under hard corners and highest possible grip - while it is still possible to drift it or even kicking the wheels of the line smoking X)
At the moment this is using the S62 4.9L Crossplane V8 replica as a place holder which was used in a real BMW M3 GTR race car.
One last thing to mention - this doesn't have interior yet and frankly i won't bother to replicate it since i'm not that good at it.

think of it as a vw up / peugeot 208 / any small sporty hatchback that is very small displacement but still packs a surprising punch

in this case being a 1.2l 3 cylinder turbo with 125hp/200nm that does 0-100kmh in 8 seconds

Does anyone know about Engine sound file names? Im trying to make my engines sound different using Beamng engine sounds and dont know where to find them.

What you need to do is go in the common folder, which is something like “drive it’s installed on/programfilesx86/steam/steamapps/common/beamng/content/vehicles. then look at the vehicle you want to yoink the sound from. Go to the engine file jbeam, scroll down to sound config, it should look something like this “soundConfig”: {
“Samplename” “ V8_cross_engine “

Vehicles like the bastion, d series, roamer, h series, and grand marshal you would need to go in the common folder for that

And it’s as simple as replacing the sample name from the car you want the sound from to your automation one.

the vast majority of private mods are just badges or stupid 3d imported models which already leave you with a "finished" car
