you can see a person on the balcony

Are you sure, that's a person? There was obviously enough warning time for someone to get out there with a cam and a tripod and film the strike.
Honestly, I'm not sure I can see them either, but I really appreciate the warning. In these cases it is far better to warn once too often than once too little.
cant be sure, but looking at it on a big screen it looks pmuch like a person, you can see them react to the intial explosion as well, and they're moving before the strike hits
I don’t think that is a person
I’ve watched it a few times over and I just don’t think that is a person at all
they don’t move prior to the impact, they react only insofar as they get knocked over as the explosion happens (entirely possible its just like a plant or something getting blown about by the shock)
It looks like a plant
i put it thru a video editing software, zoomed in and scrubbed frame by frame, i still maintain thats a person
hopefuly im wrong
Looked at it frame by frame, from the very start of the video zero movement until 2 frames [~32ms] after the flash, you can see the blast wave hitting the ceiling of that balcony in the same frame.
The minimal movement of pixels that you see in the area around this object before the explosion is a video compression artifact, possibly with some very minimal shaking of the camera.
Saying this with high confidence.
I can see why, but the head is a bit too pointy.
Regardless is there information on this strike from the Lebanese officials?
couldnt find anything about casualties in that specific event

2 Huge explosions in Beirut - location to be determined
There is a number of geolocations for Israeli airstrikes [with related videos quoted] posted by A. Baydoun today, one of them:

UNIFIL peacekeepers and facilities were targeted in three separate incidents in south Lebanon today, with four peacekeepers injured in one of the incidents. Four Ghanaian peacekeepers on duty sustained injuries as a rocket – fired most likely by non-State actors within Lebanon – hit their base “UNP 5-42” in the east of the village of Ramyah. The...
No word on casualties yet. But Israel strikes in heavily populated #Beirut area brought down at least one building and damaged others. ( my ears still ringing from explosions a few kms away from me an hour and half later )
BREAKING: US President Joe Biden says Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire will begin at 4AM local time tomorrow, expected to be a permanent cessation of hostilities
Seems to be a fake ceasefire so far
Can you please post your source for this statement? All we have to go on is "azertik on discord says the ceasefire is fake"
They've also been firing at people going to villages near the border since morning
Could be that Israel is trying to establish a DMZ along the border, would explain why they completely demolished so many villages along it.
Yes but that was not part of the ceasefire agreement
Also how is firing at citizens and warning people to not move in 20% of the country "establishing a DMZ zone"
do we know exact ceasefire terms?

because the belief is that civilian homes and businesses will be used by Hezbollah. So to the idea is to remove anything and everything that Hezbollah could use as cover.
Upon the commencement of the cessation of hostilities according to paragraph 1, Lebanon will deploy its official military and security forces to all borders, and to all regulated and non-regulated land, air and sea border crossings. In addition, the LAF will deploy forces, set road blocks and checkpoints on all the roads and bridges along the line delineating the Southern Litani Area.
Upon the commencement of the cessation of hostilities according to paragraph 1, Israel will withdraw its forces in a phased manner south of the Blue Line, and in parallel the LAF will deploy to positions in the Southern Litani Area shown in the attached LAF Deployment Plan, and will commence the implementation of its obligations under the commitments, including the dismantling of unauthorized sites and infrastructure and confiscating unauthorized arms and related materiel. The Mechanism will coordinate execution by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and LAF of the specific and detailed plan for the phased withdrawal and deployment in these areas, which should not exceed 60 days.
I still do not see the part about opening fire on civilians and preventing people from moving around
That is so vague. Using that explanation they could destroy everything south of the Litani river
Well yeah. imo that's why it's a dogshit justification.
I'm not sure that anyone is trying to say they're doing it well, or that it's justified - they're just showing you what's going on in the area and what we know so far
It seems pretty clear that part of the agreement is that the IDF will retain control until the LAF can deploy and take over control, including roadblocks and check points
Middle East crisis live: Israeli tanks fire on southern Lebanon as officials says ceasefire with Hezbollah violated https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2024/nov/28/israel-gaza-lebanon-benjamin-netanyahu-hamas-hezbollah-middle-east-crisis-live-latest-news-updates?CMP=share_btn_url&page=with%3Ablock-6748478b8f08844156ee9479#block-6748478b8f08844156ee9479
The Israeli military had urged residents of towns along the border strip not to return yet for their own safety.
On Thursday morning, Israeli tank fire hit six areas within that border strip, state media and Lebanese security sources said. The rounds struck Markaba, Wazzani and Kfarchouba, Khiyam, Taybe and the agricultural plains around Marjayoun, all of which lie within two kilometres of the blue line demarcating the border between Lebanon and Israel. One of the security sources said two people were injured in Markaba.
Reuters reports that Lebanese families displaced from their homes near the southern border have tried to return to check on their properties. But Israeli troops remain stationed within Lebanese territory in towns along the border and Reuters reporters heard surveillance drones flying over parts of southern Lebanon.

A number of rockets were reportedly launched a short while ago from Lebanon at Israeli military positions on the border in the Mount Dov area.
There are no immediate reports of injuries.
The IDF has not yet commented.

Basically they're saying that it is a warning shot since the IDF is not abiding by the ceasefire rules
Do you have a link or source for this statement?
Hezbollah communicate officially through a telegram channel

they got a telegram channel?
They have a channel called the War Press (translated) if I'm not mistaken
I can post a link if the mods don't mind
I think that would go against the Discord ToS so please don't
Got it
I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah in a bcat training course, she works for the AP
AFAIK Hezb has no official telegram channel other then "fan" ones unless that's changed the past couple months.
good write up, as someone who lived in lebanon half my life and a lot of that time was in hezballah "turf" i can say its quite accurate
and i'll plug my piece again, comparing the experience living under israeli occupation to the experience living under russian occupation here in ukraine
this gave some good context for what people in lebanon are experiencing, thank you! (tangentially, that's a great art piece of yours in the article. is there a gallery/portfolio site with your visual work?)
thank you!
(most of my artwork is not public and not available online, i have some other sketches like this that I published with The New Humanitarian
