Putin is a totally different person in a totally different situation and I'm not entirely dismissing this article out of hand simply because it feels familiar. I'm simply commenting on a tendency I observed around 2015-2020 wherein the media would use "sources" to announce Trump's demise was finally imminent, a tendency that felt like wish fulfillment, and that this article has a similar vibe to what were ultimately fever dreams. That doesn't mean this article is cut of the same cloth by any means; in fact I hope it's not.

I agree. I think that phenomenon of wish casting is a main stay of media in many cases. Maybe Putin is pulling a Garland and is going to wait nearly three years to do something to the coup plotters that we all saw on happen on live tv 😂 .
