major in cs/math/physics/stats at a top school with >3.8 to pass the resume screen (ive seen certain competitions or shows of mathematical aptitude help, as well as TAing for prob theory/ML/discrete math classes -- only matters if they are rigorous), have done other company processes for OA experience, haven taken a probability theory course for QT phones or have relevant research for QR, be charismatic for interviews, and be knowledgable about what's on your resume for finals

I have a question that Iā€™ve seen come up in OAā€™s and online interview prep books, but I have a feeling that my logic is incorrect: Suppose you roll 4 dice. What is the probability that the maximum three rolls sum to 18?: Hereā€™s my thinking: In order to sum to 18, 3 of the 4 rolls must be 6, and the last roll can be any number. Therefore, the total number of valid ways is 6*(4 choose 3) = 24. Total number of ways is 6^4. So the probability is 24/(6^4).
