You should go take a look through models-resource.com, and try to find some models that have textures that might fit your scene. When starting out, I'd recommend trying to go as low quality/resolution as possible in terms of textures, so that you're less concerned about the tiny details. Working through the general workflow of finding/creating/editing textures that work for your scene, then placing them appropriately in a scene without stretching the textures, is a great place to start. And with lower resolution textures, UV stretching becomes much more apparent, so you're more easily able to identify mistakes.

Just from memory, the Sonic Adventure games probably have some good textures for this scene in particular.

You achieved your goal very well!!
I'd also suggest starting with the basics by simply assigning each part an appropriate color. Turn specular all the way down in shading (unless you want that shiny look) to replicate the gtag feel a bit better, but even solid colors help give yourself and the viewer a better idea of what you're going for! Sometimes the key isn't knowing how to make the Picasso from scratch, but about how to work up to the Picasso, with baby steps
