If you don't have troops/rss on you, then you don't have much to lose except your leader, so you can leave your account for 15 days no problem and come back to it, you won't lose progress, only troops and resources. You will lose the free migration permission once the time on the event is expired!

You should always trade. You get more than you give. For example, I give 6m food and get 10. Even if I have to bag the trade, I end up with 4m more in my bag.
