It gets you fewer rewards. Not worse or better, just fewer.
Each hit has the same drop chance regardless of how many heroes you send and how much damage you do.
So if you do a lot of damage, you might only get 20 hits before it's dead = 20 loot chances. If you only send one week hero and hit out of gear, you might do only 0.01% damage and then get 1000 hits = 1000 loots.
The guild gift for killing it at the end is almost worthless, it's usually just some guild coins, equivalent to killing a normal lv1 monster

You get more damage per hit. When I played i would hit once then work out how many I needed to 1 hit kill.

So to answer question. Hitting singular over time is more damage, However should aim to do it so that you can max hit to stop people stealing. Doesn't apply to phantom events. You should solo hit that

Most people kill lvl1 with one hit and lvl2s with 4 , so it's quite different for everyone

i get that, the spreadsheet can be adjusted based on energy used per hit and how many hits it takes to kill, then auto updates the rest. this showed me lvl1 are better than lvl 2 for points but lvl 3 is better

its also possible i just had shit luck today with hitting a lvl 2 hell drider, sometimes takes me 8 or 9 hits vice 10

If your aim is points , and you're an average player , hitting lvl5s and killing them is the best way to get that

I don't think it's worth it at all anymore. When forge supplies became available, the drop rates for key items like stuffed doll (voodoo shaman) were adjusted are as close to 0.0% as possible (in my experience). Prior to forge supplies, MH research was great, now, you'd be better off (as intended) spending money in the workshop, or gems for lab/kt.

So higher grade is better but it depends on the hero a gold prima still sucks at doing damage just as much as a grey prima since her Main purpose is to heal and support her team

If y'all are new and still a growing guild, I'd suggest go for Lv1s since most of you guys would still need RSS and Speed-ups in early game. Once you guys are confident enough to kill Lv2s (like having 5-6 hits per Lv2) then you guys can switch to Lv1s & 2s requirement.
