R4s are slaves of the guild. They're responsible for keeping members in line, some have set jobs. For example, one might run the bank. Another handles apps, some are responsible for guild events (punishment through Demotion or rss paying etc promote people for doing well in events or helpfullness). Some might be responsible for recruitment or tracking monsters. It all just depends on what people are good at (someone who hates people and doesn't really enjoy talking to a ton of people won't necessarily make the best recruiter but they might be great at running guild events or banker etc.)

First thing first, you need to be in a guild. then, when someone in your guild will start a rally (or be the target of a rally), it will show in the rally tab of the guilde button (the tab are on the right of the window after you clicked on the guild button). alternatively you can push the green text in the guild chat. then you cick on the rally that you wish to join and hit the join button and put some solders

Bare in mind that if it's a rally toward another player it will break your shield. if if it's against a dark nest then your shield stay intact

It should start by a group of friends, then merging is usually the next best thing to do

the first guild I joined started by accepting anybody without having an R4+ to accept people. (it was a closed kingdom back then). Lots of turnover because we were all noobs (and not a lot of members). And then as we understood better the mechanics of the game the next logical step was to merge with another guild and stop accepting anybody.
