everyone gets the terminology confused so no worries at all, but just to clarify what you mean:

• VGC is double battles, AKA 2 pokemon appear on each side at a time. Think WolfeyVGC if you've ever watched him.

• Single battles is 1 pokemon per side, like how the storyline/campaign of the games plays out

• When I say in game, I mean you play against other people on your nintendo switch. Most people who want to play competitive single battles do not play in game because the game is really poorly ran/balanced for single battles

the first thing to know when it comes to understanding the meta is knowing what regulations are and how they impact the game

regulations are basically rulesets that tell you what pokemon you can and cannot use. Since we are towards the end of scarlet/violet’s lifespan, the regulations tend to allow more and more powerful pokemon. Our current regulation, regulation G, lets you use most legendary pokemon without restriction and allows you to use one powerful “restricted” legendary pokemon per team

those restricted pokémon tend to be box legendaries, stuff like Kyogre/Groudon/Zacian/etc.

You’ll hear tank less used in VGC compared to other games, but some people do use it. I’d say a “tank” pokemon is going to be one that sits on the field for a long time and is hard to get rid of. You’ll usually hear people say “bulky” as you get more and more into VGC, they mean the same thing. There’s bulky offensive pokemon and bulky supportive pokemons. Regardless, their goal is to sit on the field for multiple turns and do whatever they do best. Supportive “tanks” would be stuff like Incineroar, Rillaboom, etc. while supportive damage dealers tend to be stuff like Iron Hands

Id say mons like Iron Hands are tanky, mons like Lunala more bulky

The only other common terms you’ll hear like that is maybe “sweeper” which is just a pokemon that usually wants to set up and deal damage to sweep through a team

U can use the powerband to guarantee the 0 Atk IV each time so u need inly 2 eggs for a pretty good mon that maybe needs 1 or 2 bottle caps. Maybe none

There was a really dumb team I faced in a casual battle that poisoned my team with that rock/poison type using some move that hits both pokemon I'd never heard of and then chaining protects and having a really tanky dondozo/tatsugiri out with defence boosting order up and leftovers

I don't like rushing through things. If I have a "project" (grinding stats/teams) then I'll want to take breaks & come back to it. When I can shortcut the process of making teams, I'll most likely get burnt out battling later on

I don't mind it because there's always something to grind for. Even without breeding you'll be spending hours and hours doing raids or blueberry quests to either get tera shards as rewards or rng print them

the only time I read a use of 0 SpA was for a hyper specific case of preventing your Tera Blast from becoming a special attack after having your Attack lowered.
