i think jus recognizing when it makes sense to shift pieces in an archetype. sometimes doing so makes it worse off in some but better into others. i think the rain wide guard support as well as amoongus w/ caly under tr so things have to grass tera to not be spored and then become weak to glacial lance is incredibly oppressive if positioned right. taking away those options give u less flexibility into the meta overall

Like depending on bulk, -1 Heavy Slam can still roll favorably for you with Flutter Mane, with less bulk still OHKO, while Behemoth Bash is basically rolling a lot

I have generally gotten more Flutter Mane kills with -1 Heavy Slam than -1 Bash

i think it can b ight but usually u want ur restricted to be doing more then just clicking wide guard. usually if u want it on that comp ud run like pelipper

So rn, in a single restricted, your restricted is basically a "team captain" if you will
Most of the time you want the team captain to be proactive and leading the charge rather than reactive, which Wide Guard gets you into that reactive mentality very easily

Wide Guard has failed me so many times, yet I can't count but maybe one or two where Protect has completely failed me
