With u-turn you can be stopped from exiting the field if something with magnet pull if facing you down. This then gets rid of one of your options and could leave you walled out at the end of the match

Ok, you are correct but, what if the opponents have a pokemon without priority move that the 1 hp one can kill instantly? It becomes a mind game and you have to play really well without the 1 hp mon to win assuming there is no other counters

Think of it like having a regieleki on 1 hp staring down a Kingambit with sucker punch whilst the opponent has a milotic in the back, eleki is your only mon that can damage milotic. You switch and save the eleki and sack a less valuable mon to your victory

Pivoting is very important, extra damage isn't bad but pivoting can be really good in a lot of cases
