I looked into it. There were 2 distributions of Gen 3 mew. New York City, Thanksgiving 2002. you could go to an in person event and get a mew, one per day for 6 days. Shiny was possible, but 0.5% chance. the other is Faraway Island mew in Emerald, but while you could get the event via other means on english cartridges, normally its a Japan and Taiwan event only.
