Issue opened! Here's the video I added to the issue that shows the graphical corruption. Only happens on segment two of the Coastal route. Well mostly, I did extremely briefly see it happen near the beginning of segment three of Coastal as well. But it's far more severe in this example.

So, I streamed Guardian War for 4 hours and I noticed that it does play slower than what I'm used to, but I didn't run into any issues with the game.

Will stream more of the game in the next few days and complete it on stream. I know in RetroArch the ending is messed up, so I will be curious if the core will display the same issue or not.

So, I was playing more Guardian War today and I noticed the wings on the Garuda class' wings look different to how they do on RetroArch. I also noticed that despite both being set to 1080p and for RA being set to interger scale and 1:1 for the aspect ratio, I get more screen real estate on RA.

Okay, so I made sure to make sure I've got the correct bios, the correct settings and it does appear to use the same amount of screen real estate(in normal mode).

So, there is this sparking animation that happens on my feet, but when I move to a certain square it goes away. Not sure if the effect should be there or not.

Okay, so it appears to do it in RA as well.

Guess I hadn't noticed it before.

Audio wise it does seem like GW sounds worse through MiSTer, but not sure if that's because RA is improving the audio?

And I mean noticeably worse.

If you can find real hardware captures from youtube and compare to those, it would be significantly better. I don't think that any of the 3DO emulators are regarded as being highly accurate, or least not something worth comparing the cores output against in most cases.

Audio still has some more work to be done on anyways, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon S has some severe audio glitches that occur, and I'm sure there's still other issues existing.

I was able to get Slayer to save a couple versions back using my trick but haven't tried it on the newer versions yet. I just copy a working save file from another game (I use Wolfenstein 3D) and rename it to the same name as the other game file. Doesn't work with every game but has with quite a few.

You must be using an old build of the MK2 port. The newer builds fixes that. He mapped the "pause/menu" button to the P button in the earlier builds.

I dunno if there is mouse support in the 3DO core yet, but even if there is, Syndicate on 3DO doesn't have mouse support. I've never played the Amiga version, but the DOS version is probably the way to go. Play Syndicate Plus. It is the base game along with the expansion!

I played it back in the day and enjoyed it. It has severe slowdowns though. Besides that many controller button combinations due to lack of buttons. That's better on the jaguar version with the keypad.
But it's strongly suggested to play a version with mouse support.

It went from the Genesis core to the Megadrive core (more accurate) that uses a lot more CLBs, to the point it can’t fit in 32x and SegaCD. Bigger FPGA can accommodate that.

I don’t see why not this sort of switch wouldn’t happen to system like SNES that suddenly bigger FPGA is desirable. My understanding is the current SNES core is already right on the edge.

I’m sure a lot of people considered the Genesis core was “working perfectly” back in the day.

N64 needs more than a bigger FPGA, half of it's issues are due to memory latency from reading/writing to the DDR3. IIRC Robert said that even the DE-25 with it's 1GB of DDR3 that's dedicated to the FPGA and not shared with the CPU will still have some memory latency issues due to the memory controller.

Not sure if it's that extreme but I recall a lot of the issues with the saturn core are due to memory latency as well, even dual-ram does not eliminate all of it

My first 3DO was the Goldstar. I loved it and even had the MPEG cart. The control pads were crap though. The D-pads were kept in pace by TINY plastic bits that broke off and I had to fix a couple of them. I loved the console itself - best looking, IMO 😛

I always prefer MiSTer over the real thing as I don't need a bunch of consoles. Also, I managed to get Need For Speed working with dual stick analogue controls, which you can't do on the real thing and it makes the game even better! Apart from some rare graphical glitches in the pause menu, NFS runs PERFECTLY for me now too. Oh, actually, I just remembered the rear view mirror isn't quite right yet but I hardly notice it when playing.

Has anyone tested Night Trap on the 3DO single RAM core. I have tried and I can only seen to reach the Digital Pictures screen on disc 1 and I can get further on Disc 2 to the Night Trap title screen then it says insert disc 1.

Haven't tried Night Trap, but it's important to remember that the core is in active development, so some issues are expected. It's been about a month since the last update, so hopefully a new build will drop soon!

I have a soft spot for Night Trap it was the first game I bought after I got my Sega CD back in the day and played nearly every other version. Mac,32XCD,SCD,PS4,Vita,PS5,Switch. the 3DO version was the one I never really got to play.

There are also issues with all multi-disc games, and unless they allow saving at the end of a disc, and loading on the next disc they're not going to work right now if you have to change in the middle of playing.

I just tried Night Trap and I too have the same issue. I tried the single ram version (latest from 04/26 and a few other earlier versions) and it too hangs on a black screen after the DP logo. I was worried I'd broken something but all my other 3DO titles still work. They're all CHDs from the same archive. I then tried a BIN/CUE version and I get the same hang. Very curious and surprising since NT is an early game and not doing anything special. This is the NTSC/Eur version.

Have you seen the other controllers in that family? I've seen that 3DO controller in white and a bunch of other colours. Someone reused the mold for a bunch of other consoles.

Someone should just make a modern controller for the 3DO. give it two joysticks and a D-pad, and map the buttons to the second joystick. Have a sane button layout and decent shoulder triggers.

Is there a way to clean the nvram? I tried it on 9 misters of various shapes and sizes, and it booted on all of them. However, on one, right after the DP logo, I got an “nvram full!” message and jt took me to the ram manager

The trick of firing up Gex or Wolf3D first did nothing to fix the NFS nvram issue, or get Night Trap disc 1 working. I went so far as to remove my 3DO cfg and saves folders and start fresh.

Day 2 of my unstable 3DO core not working properly. Morale is down. In a few days we'll have to turn on the other cores for sustenance. We're drawing straws to determine which one. It's a grim decision to make.

I did encounter that rare pause menu corruption though. That one is extremely hard to reproduce. Seems completely random and it's very rare to show up in my testing.

I seem to have a problem loading games using fz1e bios for pal games as cd_bios file in one of my game folders, it's just a black screen but if i go to my other games folder with default bios they work fine as ntsc. Pal support did work on previous versions of the core that supported cd_bios file loading

In the meantime, did you try my sneaky technique? Take a save file from a working game and rename it to the same thing as your Slayer rom name. Game recognizes it as a properly formatted 3DO storage situation after. That got Slayer and some other games working for me.

As far as I know, the save issues are from not being on unstable main when it was updated for save support, and possibly issues with the config files that are fixed by deleting the 3do config file. I've had no issues with saving in any game, including slayer, deathkeep, killing time, escape from monster manor, or belzerion, since saving was added.

I have the latest unstable main and each time a new unstable main releases I update to that one

I'm pretty sure I deleted the 3do config file awhile ago but I'll do so again and see what happens cause Slayer still won't save for me.

One odd thing that occurred when I updated my mister main a few weeks ago was when it boots up it puts an error about vrr in the top left corner. Which is odd cause I've never once adjusted anything to do with VRR. If I delete the mister.ini does it just create a new one upon boot?

no, but there is an example ini you can rename

You can just delete those vrr options it complains about from the ini file, no need to delete the whole thing

They were options that were removed recently, there just doesn't exist a way to remove old deprecated options automatically

The lines it was referring to when i booted it up was this ; Minimum framerate in VRR mode.
vrr_min_framerate=0
; Maximum framerate in VRR mode (currently only used in Freesync mode).
vrr_max_framerate=0

There are no open issues for this game in the official repository. The only entry in the testing list is this: "Audio issues. Driving levels don't seem to be rendering correctly on the road". I need more information and instructions on how to reproduce the problem. It would be better to do this on GitHub so it doesn't get lost in the flood of messages.

I’m not sure when testing loading a bios or the cd_bios in a folder with pal bios I can’t get a game to load but if the default bios is cd_bios it loads games fine. I’m guessing it’s something to do with the new function made to detect discs being inserted

Its pretty cool..the 3do version probably is the best performing version of the game but it the only version with Brennan Baird RIP (the opponent) he has little cutscenes between races and track segment talking trash about how you drive..lol..that puts it over the top for me

I love it. It's a pretty chill game honestly. More of a driving game than a racing game.

I would call it a driving sim on 3do..it's slower..they tried make it more of a racing game on PS1 and Saturn. But there are better racing games on PS1 and Saturn too
