Posted this is taki's discord too. If you want to use Taki's case and the mt32-pi lite, here is a shim you can print to create enough space under the top piece so it fits.
ur a shim
I'll make space for you anytime
Nice thanks
tested a couple sizes - 1.75mm was the sweet spot
although I wonder if just putting nuts in there would be better. the problem with the shim is that the top bows upward in the middle
Weird I didn't get that...
I need to find someone who can print that shim for me at some point
it's because the shim is thin enough that the screws can push it down at the corners and then the middle is higher than the 4 corners
Ah
Ironclad Lite: those two pogo pins were bent. Tried to unbend them and they just popped off from the PCB! Wondering what are those pogo pins for and if I should just throw this PCB away...
How are you with soldering?
Trace is too thin. It will be like someone with parkinson trying to do that
Personally I think it looks salvageable, they're not that thin. Although I'm not talking about soldering the pogo pins to the traces, I'm pretty sure they're in that position for a reason.
If you can't do it then talk to the vendor
That's impossible. Sending messages to @elfin pendant is the same as sending them to /dev/null 😒
Sounds like you need to:
- Figure out if the pogo pins are needed. Pretty sure they were mentioned in the What's Ken Making Video
- If needed, either figure out a solution yourself or find someone who can
- If neither of those work, throw it away, or sell it to someone who doesn't mind that its broken
Mine is the old green pcb version with 3 pogos soldered so Ken’s video won’t help
I'm assuming those pogos being bent (and now broken) are the reason I don't get analog video/audio, so I will probably throw it away.
It looks like the broken pogos connect to ADC_IN0 and ADC_IN1
is there really no way to reach @elfin pendant
Maybe Twitter? But I'm not a Twitter user.
I offer 15 days “no question asked” returns, but if something is not working with your product, don’t panic, you are covered. You have a warranty of 1 year against factory defects, but even after that period I am offering free repairs/replacement for as long as I have the parts available to do it for that product, only shipping charges must be paid. Pleae, ask before sending the goods.
If I'm reading this right, the broken pogos are for the ADC in:
Since I have no use case for those with the Ironclad Lite, there's hope
So the bent/broken pogos don't explain the lack of analog audio still
Just tested the MiSTer Pi with Taki's IO board and analog audio works just fine, so it's not an issue with the MiSTer Pi
Ok, so the old Ironclad Lite I have should be equivalent to the old MiSTer Analog IO Board v6.1. Do I have to set a jumper/switch on the MiSTerPi/DE-10 nano if I want to connect a non-9.2v IO board with the current framework?
I have two other Ironclad Lite setups with the DE10-Nano that don't need any jumper/switch toggle
@strong falcon do I have to toggle any switch on the MiSTer Pi if I want to use an old IO board v6.1 with it?
Ok, I will give this a try (after I figure which one is SW2)
I am bit confused now. I don’t know what is correct now. If I read here, there is no need to toggle any switches. The adc thing would not declare the missing functions. I think there is more not working.
https://mister-devel.github.io/MkDocs_MiSTer/basics/troubleshooting/
Where are you located ?@faint imp
With the 9.2 board, you don’t have to toggle anything, the framework picks up if you have the analog daughter board or ram in that slot.
6.1 boards (which that ironclad lite is) still need a switch toggled.
I have two other Ironclad Lite based setups using DE10-Nanos that everything works as intended without having to toggle any switches
I will give this a try
Sent him an email
The trick for an quicker response could be to ask a question about a product you would like buying. I made the experiance, that he answered fast on such sales questions, but very slow to rma things (4-6 weeks)... Good luck
Yeah, unfortunately their support is super slow to almost inexistent
That was one of the reasons why I have sold my ironclad.
@safe marsh
Someone in Taki's discord is having strange crashes with certain arcade cores. They are using a batch 2 pi.
The arcade games in question are:
(P.o.w, search and rescue, street smart)
And crazy climbers 2
They worked fine for me, no crashes or anything
There was a modified memtest, wich is able to test below 90 iirc. That was the time when the Mister pi first arrived.
Not sure if it was pinned here.
Oooh
Seems like Jesus Fish might have found the issue. I don't think the display liked the Framerate.
Jesus saves! 🙏
Not since the tariffs
My MiSTer Pi arrived the other and very pleased with it. Printed one of @gritty heralds cases for it. I also picked up a cheap USB C power switch from Amazon which works fine even with MT32-pi etc. No signs of voltage droop
Do they use a different email for sales inquiries? I would like to try that because I simply got no answer about my RMA question 😒
Tried to dm you, but you have to accept the friend thing
Ok, I feel stupid now! MiSTer Pi is working perfectly with the old Ironclad Lite
For some reason, @strong falcon sent me the MiSTer Pi with all of those in the UP position 😛
I should have checked that first thing but what a hell, it's working fine now!
Checking to see if you are paying attention
Hahaha, but just to make sure (I’m new to this) in what position should the switches be on a stock MiSTER Pi? 😀
Those 4 switches should be defaulted to the down position
Perfect, thanks!
In one of latest taki’s post about the Superstation he mentioned the dock have a “snac passthrough port”. Anyone have any info about that?
Its been briefly mentioned over on his Discord at a similar level of detail. If you want to know more its probably worth popping over to this discord and asking him there
There’s a Cheetos hopper to drop Cheetos into a tray when you pull a lever on the Superstation Flavoblast (tm) edition
Has anyone tried using mister pi as a development board for fpga? Not necessarily for mister stuff.
it is missing the usb blaster port, which is an issue if you want to use signaltap from quartus
I had the same doubt actually, those external usb blasters don’t work to replace it?
maybe? I've never tried
maybe I'll try asking Taki
I think taki or one of his people has used an external one but check with him to be sure.
If it has jtag pins available it should still work with signal tap
This is Signal Tap
Pins go to 11
Working here
Noctua fan + one more ram stick installed 😀
I'm looking for an 3d STL of the MisterPi to use to design a case. Does anyone have one posted?
I believe if you great @untold kayak ‘s step file from printables, there is a model of the stack in there
Yes it's close. If you load the case model you'll see some ports are slightly shifted to match reality of the Mister Pi units I received in batch 1 and 2
I originally modeled the stack based on availabile docs, but the units were out slightly here or there. I assume it's just production variance so design to account for that
I have the full Fusion files uploaded too
I thought that the mister pi couldn’t do 2 sticks of ram and the IO board?
Not that I’ve needed two but some say that it helps with SEGA, which has a great light gun selection
what you can't do with 2 sticks of ram is the video analog output module of the IO
It helps specifically with some games on the Saturn, but not the light gun games
The io 9.2 board has a removable mezzanine PCB that takes the place of the second sdram
If you have a batch 3 mister pi, it may be the variant that doesn’t have one of the gpio headers because that ram is soldered into the board.
That variant still does dual ram, you just use the other header
(Removing the mezzanine as birdybro said)
Okay, mine were from the first batch, and I strictly use vga. I don’t believe I’ve even hooked it up to hdmi lol
One ram with analog io board or 2 ram with digital io board
then you don't want to do dual ram unless you also buy an HDMI > VGA dac
Perfect, single ram it is! Thanks everybody for clarifying
90% of the mister stacks runs with one ram module.
Hopefully my composite adapter gets here this week. The seller on eBay was really helpful. I opened it up and it was a glittery usb cable and wall plug.
I sent him a picture and he noticed instantly that packing tape was used and he just used the printed label
I just am curious what the thief is going to do with a vga to composite adapter lol
My MiSTer Pi just arrived. Third batch production run, it seems.
What do you call a Samurai Crow without a lord?
A Cronin
I do have a lord though.
My Japanese is far from fluent.
So is my humor lol
Oh ok.
Sorry, I was just making a bad joke. It’s a curse.
Welcome to the discord, really happy to have you. If you have any questions please ask away. We are very happy to help!
Thanks!
He is not kidding. He is happy to have you
yeah, on the new boards
So all the MiSTer Pi going forward?
yeah I assume so
K thank you
@faint dune can another stick be added for dual
yup. just pop off the mezzanine and put the 2nd stick in it’s place
MiSTER Pi batch 4 is now available for preorder. Batch 4 bonuses include a 4-Player N64 SNAC adapter and a MiSTER Pi RTC board depending on the package. Pricing starts at $125.

-# MiSTER Pi - Retro Gaming FPGA Board (Batch 4 Preorder)
This is a preorder for a Late July/Early August shipment.MiSTER Pi is a fully compatible MiSTer FPGA development board. It is powered by an Altera Cyclone V FPGA with 1GB of DDR3, and it supports addi...
Why did he drop the Pis with onboard ram for this batch?
Not sure if I am parsing your question correctly but this batch does have BGA ram?
yeah
compatibility with handheld mods?
/customs
It’s onboard BGA ram or a RAM stick with BGA modules? Advertising RAM module seems weird as it can lead to the reader to think they are external modules
@strong falcon pls clarify so we don’t have to consult the tweets
Are these v1.6 Pis with onboard SDRAM? I’m confused
Why confused
Because you mention ram modules in there
The little IC modules
Why are those compatible with other MiSTer boards?
That part is not supposed to be there....
Be nice to poor ol taki..
In Taki we trust! 🙏
And the page description is much better now, so the feedback was actually great!
Will skip this batch as I will be traveling by the time Taki will ship those. But I will for sure get the following one! 🙂
Gotta keep those MiSTer Pis coming!
You are a stronger man than I
does anyone know the part number of the tac switches that mister pi uses on the AV board?
Small case design i'm working on for use without AV board or the USB hub.
Probably linked to pins 13, 15 and the other one
I soldered in buttons, LEDs and the IO chip to the fan board. It is only is a few $ of parts. See https://www.reddit.com/r/MiSTerFPGA/comments/1fzl3w0/mister_pi_fan_io_board_is_an_unpopulated_digital/
wait what I doing in here? oop
You can even skip the IO chip if you only need LEDs and buttons, see my post halfway down on that thread
Love the look!
It came out better than I hoped! It's thanks to the previous mentioned designs, baxysquares .svg logo and the nice marble filament
nice to see a bunch of options for the mister pi NFC cards
someone did a nice PCE one too that I just caught a tweet for
My version of the NFC Reader for the MIsterFPGA is finally here. :) This was made specially for the NFC Reader that comes with the Batch 3 of RetroMake MisterPI, and has a dual Slot for the “HuCards” and also for the Mini NFC PCB Cards that comes with it. 3 Plates are included. One for the Main Slot, one for the Reader case, and one ...
I really like the look of it! I do have to ask- what's with the embossed SNES controller ports?
My 1.6 Pi board arrived yesterday, thought i would pick a spare up after selling my DE10 build recently
God bless the de10, I sold mine and got enough for it to buy a pi turbo kit
How much are people paying for used de-10 nanos?
You mean a P.T.? Kojima never got one I heard.
I picked up my DE10 when they were cheap so only had £120 invested in it. I didn't lose very much
trying to add some design cues to a console .. any other ideas?
Hmm not sure I'm trying to think of a console that's shaped like that 🤔

New member here. I got a mister pi with usb hub today. I’m using an analogue IO board that I had as a spare. It was fully working from another build. I’m trying to use analogue audio and nothing is coming out. I have a 3.5 mm jack going to a mini amp which powers 2 speakers. In the ini. HDMI audio 96k is set to off. What the heck and I missing here? All my other builds work fine w an analogue audio?
