No if you think about the resolution of gameboy 240x160 vs the full screen 320 x 240 the scaling would be absolutely awful

I believe either the downloader or update_all grabs them automatically now

#

I tested it last night by playing Trip World

#

and I tried a bunch of different palettes throughout

#

the only bug I can report is the following, and I'm not sure if its system wide or if its just specific to trip world, but if you enable cheats on the mister menu, and then change the palette of the game after that, the cheat effects become disabled

#

and the cheat has to be toggled off and on again to be activated again

i tested save states, all the miscellaneous video options, frame blending, etc and it all seems to work pretty well

wraith magnet

Well I would expect when Game Bub drops, that I am assuming has some sort of link support, cores will be ported to that, and doing this work here presumably will make it easier to port and support there.

At this point, what handhelds and consoles that had link support, is that not supported/wired up on MiSTer? GBA is the only one I can think of, off hand

If you use your 2P save directly on a 1P core, it will erase the second player save file. The saves themselves are just the save of the standard core from each player bolted onto eachother. This is why they're separated right now, and why there's different folders for everything.

There was a discussion about this in the GBA thread.

@ornate apex is there any chance of being able to change what is being seen in HDMI as well as over analog signal? In the previous 2P cores, there was a way to have the HDMI side show one signal, while the analog showed a different one. Right now, on the AtariLynx core, both screens are there, they're just very teeny so things are hard to see. GameGear core makes my CRT roll, but that's a ymmv situation.

Also, I have a general question about the handheld cores; I might be the odd one out, but I would like to be able to force scale these DOWN, so they are NOT fullscreen, but smaller. They were ment for smaller screens and I was wondering if there currently is a way to force these to use a smaller (integer) scale. Is something like this built-in to mister, or is this something that would need to be added per-core?

And I've found an issue with the resolution + frequency.
The newest version is running at 360X240 @60.1Hz instead of 720X720 @59.4Hz.

That gives the artworks a low quality quality too when rendering.

Yup, reported the exact same thing 🙂 I did notice an improvement though, the OG version for me had no sound with the Tiger Electronic games (on my analog audio output), whilst the new one does. One from 2023, and the new one from the 10th. Anyone else seeing the same? I don't remember manually messing with this. Rerunning update_all did not resolve it

wary fjord

It’s because one came from update all and another came from agg’s repo. You can disable that repo and delete the old core. Updates will come via update all

Also seem to have to go through the settings process every time the core is booted, which I had hoped wouldn't be the case anymore with the save support.

solar iron
#

Okay, I figured out how to consistently load a game. Boot up the core. Go into the core's OSD menu and reset. Then load a game, which will take you to the settings process. Finish the settings process and the game will load.

#

Is there a hacked bios or something that skips the setting process? Having to go through that every single time is such a pain.

Nice, works like a charm! Still have to do the whole "reset" > "load game" for a game to load, but it's way better.

Now if only there was a way to have the core automatically run the reset function when it boots up, we'd be golden.

The Analogue Pocket version used to load straight into the game. Something broke with this latest release and it doesn't load any game, it just goes to the boot screen 🫠

I found out something extremely interesting while converting the plain text of the pokedex in pokemon red to metric to match the metric height/weight units.

In the Japanese version it's stated that it digs at 100km/h and causes earthquakes by doing this. This is mistranslated as digging 100km deep and adjusted to 60miles, which is roughly correct. But then the German version translated the English text correctly but converted the 60 miles incorrectly by dividing by 1.6 instead of multiplying.

I choose to keep the 40km from the German translation because I think it's very funny!
