do inxi -Gxxx
and note if the GPU itself has a driver, and if the OpenGL part shows info related to said driver.
also note the Monitor(s) information, regarding what specific port they're on.
it doesnt haave a driver
your desktop and common apps are handled by the AMD Radeon Vega.
ensure secure boot is off (mokutil --sb for info )
then visit driver manager. and choose the 470 nvidia driver which happens to well with that older gtx gpu
its not a problem that its older ?
if 470 is there, then should be ok
it was
alr im changing it to 470
ehm

the secureboot was enabled I just saw it
how do I turn it off
check your bios.
why 470 instead of the newest..?
i would be suprised if this card even works with a driver this old
if u can help me I will appreciate it
Can you photo your bios seup screen?
i dont even know how to enter it
Delete, f2 usually. You can also try
reboot --firmware-setup
I did
But it asks for some password that I don't have
google your pc brand + BIOS key
I didn't find any
The only thing I found is that I should send it to Acer and the unlock it for me
.
I did
what's the exact brand/model?
show the result if inxi -M
never heard of that shittt
To enter the BIOS on an Acer laptop, completely shut down the laptop, then press and hold the F2 key while pressing the power button. Alternatively, you can power on the laptop and rapidly press the F2 key as the Acer logo appears. If F2 doesn't work, try the Delete key or Insert key
but i know how to enter it
then?
theres password that I dont have
do this with extreme precision: #1295763692415356968 message
set at least a 9 digit simple password
dirt-simple. 123456789
I think he's saying that there's a supervisor password set on the bios
eh
so I do those 4 commands and then I should be able to just turn off the secure boot ? sorry im getting kinda lost
no. then u should be able to use proprietary drivers
otherwise, just use nouveau.
or else ship it to acer n have them remove secure boot and give you FULL bios access.
oh okay so if it works I wont need the bios password
hopefully
did you make it long like I said?
.
yep
this one exactly
maybe it has you do it twice to confirm accuracy
oh it worked now
the numlock was turned off but it doesnt show what im typing in the terminal so i didnt know
I did all the commands what now ?
reboot i guess he said that
he said to enable the secure boot
but we talked about this its already enabled
sudo reboot command immediately.
Before there was some window for little while
But I wasn't looking and it switched back
yeah you're supposed to register the key /password. duh
So I have to do it again ?
yes
just nvm. that chat was under the assumption someone has it off
just restart again and enroll the key in the blue window
I clicked on enroll MOL
Put there the password and then reboot it
Now the graphics should be working ?
test it
boot in, then check inxi -G
if it's still on nouveau, then use the manager to change to nvidia one. whatever works : 470, 535, etc
I changed it to 580
welp . live with that a while
if it's shitty, try downgrading the nvidia driver.
you can use the nvidia control center applet to switch the thing into FULL TIME nvidia usage
its not working ?
and use the "Resources" flatpak to monitor all things related to the GPU. use online web 3D aquarium to run the gpu hard
I mean before the driver was N/A now theres at least Nvidia
i just said, IF IT'S SHITTY
sorry
ok gl. bye now
I tried war thunder and finally it shows the recommend graphics it's supposed to show
Thanks a lot guys
You should probably switch it to performance mode in nvidia settings - prime profiles
is it better ?
yes
It didn't work properly
I was seeing like a small graphic bug on my wallpaper since I switched it
IG I keep on demand
can you show
inxi -Gxxx
again please?
I'm gonna sleep now it's late but tomorrow I'm gonna do it
ok
But thanks a lot for help
