gotta disable secure boot
for nvidia to work
look at Device-1 there
did u attempt to put a driver from Driver Manager?
i installed nvida driver 570
it wont apply as is
either SB off, or register it as shown: #1295763692415356968 message
nvm mind i fixed it, it was changing my drivers into opensource
You mean nouveau? You'll likely have low perfomance with that in games
oh yeah
its bad
i dont know else i can do tbh
Disable secure boot
.
Now it says "out of range" on my monitor
when exactly?
When i see the Linux logo
Might be weird resolution settings. Are you on cinnamon? If yes, try this:
go to grub menu - advanced options - recovery mode - root shell
when you can type, type these commands
mount -o remount,rw /
rm /home/user/.config/cinnamon-monitors.xml (change user to your actual username)
reboot
see if that helps
i dont use dual boot
Grub menu is available even with 1 system installed
this right ?
No... that's grub config file. I thought you couldn't get to desktop because your monitor goes out of range. Or did you fix that?
i just turn on the secure boot again
Ok.. hmm... if you go to you home folder and enable hidden files you should see .config folder, go there. Do you see cinnamon-monitors file there?
scroll down or resize the window
into .config folder
remove .nvidia-settings.rc file from here and try turning off the secureboot again
deleting ?
yes
i dont have that file ?
where can i find it ?
2nd row, right most file
xdg terminals ?
hmm.... ok, can you show us
inxi -G
again?
the what now ?
Open the terminal
type inxi -G
screenshot the result
Ok, let's try this.
in the terminal type
sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
let it finish, then turn off secure boot.
also photo the place where you disable it please.
Sorry for the low quality
Yeah no it says out of range again
Should i just reinstall linux with secure boot off ?
You might try Delete all secureboot variables. then go to key management and clear all the keys. See if that changes anything.
Alright then
Probably clear image execution policy too if possible
i reinstalled linux, i could change my hz but soon as i installed nvidia drivers it said "out of range" then i turned on secure boot on again and now i cant change my hz
Did you clear secure boot variables, keys and policy?
how do i do that ?
here
alright then
Still nothing
Are you back to secureboot on now?
No it just says out of range
Can you get to grub menu?
omg. just do this already. it's shown clear as day in blue link!
if ur gonna use secure boot, AND nvidia drivers, you MUST register them!
Somehow I think that will end up with "out of range" error again, same as with secureboot off
i cant type after entering the password
nvm i fixed it
