watch the video again. just add an ISO if there's enough room.

#

oh god

#

did u take the m.2 out?

#

or is your second SSD also m.2?

#

how many drives in the computer now

#

so you want Windows to be installed on an empty drive on a laptop?

#

no u can't do it that way for Windows

#

Windows registers a hardware signature when you install it.

#

it needs to be set up from the machine you want it on.

#

you could but it's riskier

#

this is what you completed 2 days ago (on the right)

#

on nvme0n1

#

what is the empty drive then, SATA or also m.2?

#

yes it's probably best to take out the m.2

#

open case, discharge static, one screw for m.2 , pull out.

#

then put in SATA drive,

#

boot the Win ISO up from ventoy, and install to sata

#

if it still complains for storage drivers, then go to the website for your desktop computer's manufacturer, look at the support : downloads section for possibly a iRST storage driver, and a chipset driver

#

save them to a second usb or flash memory card.

#

try wimboot mode in second ventoy white screen

#

ok so then , do you have a second usb stick?

#

ok do what i said then

#

when it asks drivers, u do 'browse' and browse to them on the second usb stick

#

make sure u unzip them after getting from website, before copying them to second usb

#

@thorny latch

#

well, boot the tower pc

#

from the nvme

#

google the term "boot menu key + your desktop computer's manufacturer/brand "

#

if u dont know it

#

(google the same for ur laptop too, so u know it)

#

make sure u search the term exactly

safe bramble
#

look for a possible VMD/RAID storage driver

#

@thorny latch

safe bramble
#

awesome

#

yes boot again

#

wimboot

#

did u take nvme out @thorny latch ?

#

make sure or else it will probably screw the Linux efi

#

also, did u get your laptop booting correctly again?

#

i was just asking a question yes or no, does ur laptop boot normally? did it originally have a working operating system?

#

in the laptop?

#

dont worry, we'll deal with it later

#

u want to set up new empty SATA SSD with Windows 10 on your tower computer, yes?

#

ok .

#

just so clear. and remove nvme.

#

and put it safely down somewhere no static

#

yes i remember. we left the SATA SSD fully unallocated.

#

so practically "like new"

#

wtf

#

no. cant be

#

u must hit "browse"

#

and browse to the other usb stick

#

into those folders u unzipped

#

show the complaint window by photograph

#

do it

#

you see RAID folder has a side arrow.. click that side arrow, then the OK button

#

i mean click side arrow, and choose the proper subfolder containing the sys or inf file then OK

#

in the nvme subfolder for rcraid, then ok

#

even though your nvme is disconnected, Windows sees the motherboard has the feature, and Windows was programmed by idiots who dont include the VMD/RAID/RST driver already

#

^ this is a VERY common problem for soooooo many new computers with nvme slots

#

for home user DIY install

#

i think pick next ((but u made sure nvme ssd is disconnected, right?))

#

next didnt work

#

k np go back, and choose subfolder for SATA rcraid

#

SATA SSD is for sure connected good?

#

can also try go into BIOS, and turn off any RAID thing. put to AHCI if it's not already

#

may be found in Advanced/Configuration/Storage categories

#

or try giving it the chipset driver first. idk

safe bramble
#

if it's on ahci it should be fine. check for RST or VMD too

#

idk why pic shows "NOT SUPPORT" for the 250 GB drive

#

it shouldnt matter whether or not it has a filesystem on it or not. it should still say 'supported'

#

make sure ur in the right category for advanced storage options in BIOS

#

checking

#

check n show "windows OS config"

#

also in "Super I/O"

#

also in "PCI"

#

Highlight SR-ioV and show the explanation

#

ok that's VM stuff

#

back to here. show the two side arrow things

#

also after that, show me where u found the AHCI thing

#

GOP and Secure Boot

#

turn on all sata port hotplug modes

#

what for secure boot

#

ok leave it off. just fix the sata hotplug stuff

#

ok now make sure ventoy usb is in.

#

save n exit bios

#

boot usb ventoy, start windows installer

#

yes

#

u tried all the driver folders?

#

do u have Mint ISO on same ventoy? if so, boot that. n see from DISKS app if it can see the sata drive

#

ok

#

yeah the mint definitely saw the empty ssd

#

i guess you could format it to FAT32 idk

#

or exfat

#

sure

#

maybe with the nvme driver it will find the empty-half of your nvme

#

if it breaks the efi and u cant boot mint later, then just run boot repair app from Mint live iso

#

u still probably have half empty

#

yes, go into its BIOS setup

#

check boot order

#

put uefi hdd first

#

or ubuntu

#

if no uefi system at all, put the hdd/ssd name first of drive with OS to top of boot list

#

no

#

ur not supposed to boot ventoy on latop

#

put intenso to top, save n exit. done

#

or whateve is name of hard drive in that machine

#

make sure there IS a hard drive or working SSD in that machine, which has in fact, a working OS

#

go in bios

#

this is not bios

#

put hard drive to top, usb hdd second.

#

usb intenso third

#

idk if its ur flash drive.

#

then save/exit

#

then?

#

and dont have any usb key or usb hdd plugged

#

ok so go back in bios

#

show full picture for boot

#

disable legacy, put uefi only

#

u should see uefi hdd at top, possibly with 'ubuntu'

#

put usb key second

#

the rest is fine. save

#

dont take it off uefi.

#

do u HAVE a hard drive in this machine? yes/no?

#

@thorny latch how is it?

#

if still not, then boot ventoy usb. up to live environment to see if DISKS app finds the internal drive, and its condition

#

and DONT change boot mode off UEFI

#

use this 'boot menu' to launch usb. normal mode

#

turn secure boot off

#

yeah dont change it from uefi

#

even ur ventoy should boot too that way

#

this one should have ubuntu listed inside it, and should be at toppp

#

just do more research about the specific computer, and the stupid requirement for exactly WHAT drivers

#

Linux is way easier in this case.

#

u mean the tower pc u were dealing with for last 2 days? with nvme drive?

#

or some other "shitty" computer

#

cuz the tower one with Ryzen processor u showed in photos earlier doesnt show weak hardware

#

how old?

#

2010

#

do u know the CPU and speed?

#

also from that time, probably HDD, thus slower

#

you could likely use Q4OS Trinity on it, and it would run nicely.

#

this is the very old one?

#

@thorny latch ?

#

the 2010 one?

#

u can see specs just from BIOS main screen

#

or put q4os trinity iso on ventoy usb, n test it out

#

u can find all info from inxi -F on linux terminal

#

or from Windows, run dxdiag

#

and it will say all

#

Q4os is fast on Trinity, but also, if need lighter, or different: MX Linux Fluxbox

#

MX fluxbox: look at the memory used, value. fresh boot.

#

only 81 threads running. compared to Windows, probably over 250 on fresh boot

#

you can also test on website. (it's vm over web, so will be slow, but)

#

bye
