uhm, I'm trying to scroll on the Coral guide, and it keeps getting stuck.
It won't scroll
I saw that Semeru has a favorite food of Reef Burger, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. How can I make it?
I believe that’s yet to be implemented
Just give the man beer and you’ll get him to 10 in no time. You can get beer from fishensips or make various kinds in a keg so you’re pretty much set if you stockpile wheat and barley
thanks!
Hi there! There's a hacked page here: https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Romance (CW: bad sexual words)
It's in the romance candidate section
omg.
removed the sussy stuff
it's all right! thanks for letting it be known
To whoever is fixed the wikis I haven’t found what he likes but Olan hates pink diamonds or at least dislikes them
he hates all kind of gems
Wish I knew what he did like 😭
Bless
There's the honey prices here, it would be good to have on the honey wiki page
https://www.thegamer.com/coral-island-obtain-use-bee-house-guide/
ope. there is absolutely no text for a bunch of the carpenter buildings. is that already a wip?
How can i get osmium fruits?
Upgrade your fruit saplings and seedlings
where can i do it?
ling's laboratory
Thank you
Not sure if someone has recommended this yet, but if you could mark on the Coral Guide site where each item is found, like on the Wiki, that would be really great. For instance, items in the sea like the sea urchins, don't have where to find them. The insects and such do, but they tell you where on the map but there's no map on the Coral Guide either so it's hard for me to find where things are.
Coral guide is done solo & independently from either of the wikis
hi im trying to learn how to contribute to the wiki, ive used spreadsheets to gather the type of information wikis have for other games but never really got past the whole formatting stuff. if anyone at all is willing to help me learn how to contribute, im unemployed and have been kinda doing this for fun for ages and id really love to help this community build a beautiful wiki, please dm me or @ me tysm
the templates, charts add in stuff makes me feel like a monkey tryna build a fire over here
Millie mentioned in dialogue liking blueberries and melons. Has anyone tested these gifts with her?
hello, just wondering if the community is working both on the fandom and new wiki, or just the new and leave the old fandom wiki? because currently, the fandom one has 2,648 pages and the new one has only 860 pages
Ditching the fandom one, but yeah we haven't done enough work on building up the current one
Hello. The es cendol recipe doesn't work with the autumn coconuts. I tested it several times to be certain.
Do you mind telling me the name of the coconut, and do you have any video of this? 😮
Macapuno coconut. How do I record a video?
If you're on steam, you can use the Steam Recording Feature, we shared a guide on how to do it here: #1222877204233584722 message 😄
Thank you!
Anyone else having issues accessing the wiki?
Not the fandom one
I keep getting a message about 'cannot access the database' when I try going to the main page for it
ahhh will relay this to the team 🙏
If the extra info helps, I checked it out on Firefox and Google Chrome.
I have UBlock on Firefox so I disabled that to see if it would impact it, and it didn't, so it wasn't that interfering with database access
yeah I checked and it also happened with edge browser, so definitely from our side. thanks for the additional info ❤️
It's back up!\
Ok now I've got a question for the wiki... I noticed that the seeds are divided by season. Would it be a good idea to also within the division of season, divide by seeds/saplings? Or would that be more confusing than leaving them as is?
Solved: I was using maple syrup instead of sugarcane syrup. My mistake.
Hihi, I've noticed that on the page https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Crafting, the Oracle Chamber recipes are incorrect. How should I go about submitting what the current recipes are so that it can be updated? Thanks
Anyone have advice on editing tables? I found a hated gift for Valentina (Janetta Forester Butterfly) that's neither listed on her page, nor the Universal Dislikes, so I figured I'd add it to her page, but I'm having difficulty adding a row to the table of Hated gifts that's on her page
how do we edit the changelist? like I want to show in sugar page how its price changed from 75 to 25 and how the silver axe could now break logs in farm
I know it's has nothing to do with wiki editors, but I do wish Fandom would stop putting embedded videos onto pages. It bogs the loading down.
At least be relevant to the page...... Sorry, had to get this off my chest. Thank you guys for the pages though!
I noticed on the non-fandom wiki that the calendar had at least one birthday wrong that the character's page actually had correct (Lily's), made an account, confirmed email, etc, tried to go in and change it, and my change keeps getting dismissed as spam. Is there anyone involved with that wiki that could help me either update that or figure out why it's not letting me edit?
talked it out with a friend who's done wiki editing before, and the change I wanted to make was on an important enough page it makes sense a new account can't. nvm all 🙂
Eeeeeexcept I am the friend and I can't make the change either. I've tried with my login in Firefox and Safari, and I get the following error. Anyone know why contributions are being blocked, presumably by the captcha?
@viscid swift hi! Can the calendar be corrected?
Hi Erenndis, which calendar?
@viscid swift here
hello, could any mod from fandom delete this picture, i accidentally upload a duplicated photo, very sorry and thanks in advance
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/File:Pioneer_pack_kickstarter.jpg
ahhh thank you Erenndis! @ripe cosmos i will look into why the anti spam is like that with the team 😭 i see you encounte it too @tight moth huhu sorry
@ripe cosmos can you check if you can edit other page?
Will look for another page that I can try to make a useful edit on in the morning
thank you very much!
There's a typo on the page for Fall that still says summer. I hit the spam block on that page too.
Did as Ocianne suggested, there's a few typos on the page for fall that name different seasons where it should be 'fall', that page is giving this
thank you for confirming, i'll let the team know
@tight moth @ripe cosmos could you send me your ID on our wiki website?
My username there is the same as my discord handle, unless you mean a different ID?
yep that's what we need! sorry for the confusion. thank you!
Kayefta's is also the same, I see their account creation in the log on Aug 23.
Yes, I am Kayefta on the wiki as well
@tight moth @ripe cosmos i will send DM to you to investigate this further 🙏
hii, do we have an active wiki fandom mod?
I think I found a tiny mistake on the fandom wiki. Pink coralcap says it can be harvested 3 times, I assume that means 3 total right? Once after the initial 14 days then 2 more times after each 4 days regrowth? The images for the growth calendar show a total of 4 harvests though. Unless its meant to say 3 additional times after the initial growth?
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Pink_coralcap
Also the prices for the pink coralcap kimchi seem to be partially missing 😅
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Pink_coralcap_kimchi
Red reefbud and goldglow growth calendar is the same as pink coralcap. Red reefbud says 6 harvests, growth calendar shows 7. Goldglow says 4 harvests, calendar shows 5. Soka and labu are missing growth calendars.
@fallow notch the fandom wiki is unofficial and outdated. (i dont think there will be much support for it here)
you should instead look at the official wiki here: https://coralisland.wiki/wiki/Main_Page
or this unofficial but up-to-date one: https://coral.guide/
if you do find inaccuracies, feel free to correct/point them
Ah well that makes sense than 😂 Ive just been using the wiki that comes up on google. Ill make sure to bookmark the main wikis
thank you!
If anyone has a fandom account as is so inclined, the Shed/Cellar pages incorrectly estimate the speed bonus to be 15% instead of 100%
it is 15%, 100% speed up would be immediate
100% would be double (which it is)
This gets cited to show it as being 15-20%, but the second picture literally has twice the progress of the first
Anyone can test it themselves easily though, Cactus Mead will take 3 days in a cellar/shed, 6 days outside
Just in case anyone wanna edit the wiki: Luke does NOT love Grapewine, he only Likes it
mm/dd/yy is the worst format 😤
Yes
👋 Just popping in because I've recently been updating dialogue for characters on the fandom wiki since I have an account and I was using it before the official one. It also looks like some of the pages on the official wiki are identical or were pasted over there anyway? So I guess the pages can get pasted over eventually.
(I also noticed that the gifting guide on the fan wiki and on coral.guide had out of date info on them but I could only update the fan wiki)
Was planning on helping with updating some of the pages (and maybe make some of the missing ones) on the https://coralisland.wiki/wiki/Main_Page but it keeps saying this when I try to save the edits.
*** Forbidden. Message seems to be spam. Anti-Spam by CleanTalk. ***
When checking on the help/info about the captcha it tells me to contact the site administrators about it, except there isn't any real way there to actually try to make contact.
Was at least able to upload a file so when I can do edits, the image is already there to include. 😢
I wish I had some advice but I'm not familiar with the official wiki at all 🙁
If im not mistaken, only wiki mod that can edit the main page, you can contact nautilus or saltynori for that
I wasn't trying to edit the main page though? Was trying to update the page about the tv-channels.
..I see the mistake, I mainly linked the page to show it was the official and not the fandom wiki I was having issues with 😅
Oh sorry i misread 😅
@viscid swift
Scrolled in this chat and you seem to have been the moderator last posting in here so asking you.
I'm having issues on the main/official wiki with me getting caught on the "anti-spam" filter when trying to make edits on a page. (tried TV Channel as well as Artifact). I've tried both through Firefox and Chrome with both giving the same issue.
I have been able to upload a file that I was going to use for the edit on TV Channel but doing the actual edit doesn't work for me.
(If important my name on the wiki account is same as my discord name and I've verified the email address)
hi there! indeed the anti spam is something :" will inform the team on this, thank you!
Oh geez, the anti-spam on the official wiki is miserable. :'D I'm going on 15 minutes since I was last able to edit anything, and given I'm trying to fix a typo to make the individual character galleries work... :'D
I guess if anyone else can get in: The File template on every character image needs to have the |category line updated to |categories. And then the Character/Gallery pages need to have the duplicates taken out.
uwaa lemme relay this to the team too, hang in there Nautilus😭
Thank youuu. :'>
Would you know anything about setting up a bot to make going through these changes any smoother? Or if that would be permitted? :'D I know I had one set up on the Fandom Wiki, but I cannot remember for the life of me what all I needed to do for it. I know all of my manual updates are probably clogging the Recent Changes. :'D
you're most welcomee!
hmm i will need to ask the team about this first and i will get back to you with the info!👀
Hi! its my first attempt at editing any wiki so please be patience! I was updating the fandom wiki Journal page (https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Journal) to include the Handmade and Clothing tabs, and I made a table to try and list the clothing items that need to be purchased for the badge. I only made a table for Outfits and though it does work, i saw that every other table in the page is a template, so on the source editor it looks super clean and mine looks unecessarily clunky. My tabel is also a bit too wide and i am not sure how to fix that. When i tried to add the display template to fix that formatting I realized I have no idea what I'm doing. To create a template for a table do I need to be on Source editor instead of visual? How can I see an example of what this should look like?
You probably want to be on the Source editor, yes. And I'd imagine you should be able to edit the existing Template:Display journal (https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Display_journal) to include clothing/outfits... but I am nowhere near confident enough with the coding to tell you how to do it. :'D
I made a quick and imperfect copy of what the Template should be doing that you can apply to the rest. Start any new tables with the {| class="wikitable" line and format individual items like the |{{Icon| lines there. :'>
I did the first row of eight Outfits, but I'm supposed to be working and can't get the rest at the moment. :'D
And this goes directly on the Journal page itself!
<@&909661844698972160>

heyyy
so I had some title font considerations (used for in-article headers and the titles in infoboxes)
Itim
https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Itim?preview.text=Welcome to the Coral Island Wiki!&preview.text_type=custom
Coiny
https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Coiny?preview.text=Welcome to the Coral Island Wiki!&preview.text_type=custom#standard-styles
Balsamiq Sans
https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Balsamiq+Sans?preview.text=Welcome to the Coral Island Wiki!&preview.text_type=custom
I'm leaning towards Itim or Coiny because I think they're the most dyslexic-friendly of the ones I was interested in, since the b/d/p/q, n/u, M/W, etc. are unique from each other? I was trying to find fonts with a lot of supported characters, too
I did try to find a font that matched the logo more, but...
I'm only willing to use free fonts 😅
plus I'm not even sure if that particular font is good for my purposes, since it needs to be easy to read at smaller sizes and not distracting. I think Itim is a good candidate, though
wait, how do you do this yeah? Fandom doesn't allow font change is what I read
CSS in the MediaWiki:Common.css page
would you mind adding Kalinka#8952 to this channel? she's Cimeex on the wiki and works with Lotus and me on the MTaP wiki
I'll add her in a bit, on my phone all day today
ahhh, ok, she's in. Welcome!
hi, thank you for adding me!
ayyyy, good job figuring that out!
hi everyone! I have added infoboxes on every character page and I have a small suggestion. can character portrait images be cropped a little bit? right now they have a transparent space in the top part, and that is an issue with the infobox, especially on Erika's or Kenny's pages https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Erika
cropping about 74px from the top should do the trick
ohh, sure, yeah, the erika one's looks really weird, thanks!
Kenny and Frank's also look like that
but it might be useful to crop all of them to keep things uniform
sure, should be pretty fast with photoshop actions.
oh no lol
we have this white overlay
I can ask jo the designer to remove this, but maybe next week
but well, we'll do it one day. He's pretty backed up with Kickstarter stuff
I don't think there's any harm in keeping the overlay. it's barely visible on wiki's background anyway
if the image you're uploading has the same name as an existing image, you'll be prompted to replace it when uploading
so just upload normally through https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Special:Upload
I don't think the platform allows uploading multiple images yet, so replacing all 44 is a slow process 🥴
yes it looks much better!
but definitely improvements over the last one
I'll handle kenny and frank first, the other should be fixed later
Oliver's hat is also cut off
if Kalinka or Lotus want admin permissions so they can tweak the wiki's CSS or such, I trust them with it
Ok, I gave admin permission to Kalinka
also, updated all the images of the characters, because can't sleep 😂
alright, i have to though
thank you!! great work today!
thank you for giving me the rights! Lotus is much better at css than I am though, we could use his help 😅
I'm more interested in templates and such
someone posted a link to the wiki a few hours ago and a mod pinned it: #🐔coral-general message
y'all did such a fantastic job setting up the wiki!! very helpful for us to simply be able to jump in and start working on expanding things, now that the skeleton's in place
hey @lime slate, when you have time, could you look over the birthdays listed here? are these correct? there's a lot of overlap birthdays, but I was just inputting what was listed on NPC's pages without checking who wrote the info
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Calendar
also, is the first of a season on a Monday or a Sunday?
you're all doing amazing
@lime slate are you doing it allready? if not i can check it
awesome, thanks! 🙇
and take care, Anastasia
back pain is the worst
thanks for checking the birthdays! I changed Connor's birthday on his page, too
whenever possible, could someone add trolltasm to this channel? she's also started helping with the wiki
unless this channel should just be unlocked now, since people know about the wiki and have started editing it already?
it doesn't hurt, imo
plus people could report errors they find or info they'd like to add but don't know how to
Staxel has a public wiki channel on their server that people do exactly that on
I support making the channel public. wiki editing can be challenging, so there should be a channel accessible for folks who are willing to contribute but don't know how to
wiki editors is now public
hi everyone, this is now public: https://coralisland.fandom.com/
if you want to edit the wiki and got confused, like I was. Pop here and fire away. Right now Sarcosmic and Kalinka, and I believe Trolltasm are the known active wiki editors. I'll help out what I can too.
Ooooo I’m excited. I really hope that this wiki can turn into a full blown fan guide by the time of the game’s official release! 💙
And yes, I’ve been adding to the wiki too! 💙
Thanks for the help @analog swift !
Thought I was going crazy for a bit. Saw a new wiki channel but comments from a month ago. 😂
Oh cool! I've made a few minor edits here and there. So not used to fandom. Gamepedia is more of my thing
@fringe trout oh, are you BoyfromTartarus?
and ehhhH, Gamepedia's getting moved to the UCP, too, so they're gonna be more and more similar to edit on (besides the special stuff that old Gamepedia wikis get to keep like Cargo, I think)
Yep! Because I couldn't use Boyfromhel1. Some of the formating is a bit different and the preview and whole editing process seems a little cumbersome compared to gamepedia. Getting used to it though
Yeah I got used to the gamepedia format editing the Hades wiki and seeing fandom wiki format was a shock.
ooohh a secret channel i was never aware of
you can try switching to a different source editor in your preferences; there are two
Hi! I was thinking to contribute to the wiki in Indonesian. Do I need some kind of permission to add language? Is there anything I need to keep in mind?
To make a Coral Island wiki for a different language, you'll need to create a separate wiki, since they'll be covering the same info and wikis should be in the same language throughout the wiki!
but you can affiliate with the Eng wiki in a way that you can use the images already on the Eng wiki, while also having your own database of images specific to your wiki
https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Shared_images
please jump to this post and continue reading below for more information!
we can link the wikis so that viewers will see an option to see the page in Eng/Indo, if the matching page exists
https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Interlanguage_link
when creating your wiki, you can use the same url (coralisland) as the Eng wiki so long as you pick a language other than English
feel free to ask if you have more questions
I'll also dump the info I shared with the first two people to ask about creating other language wikis:
here's the CSS for the Eng wiki; you can copy it into the corresponding page onto your wiki and modify as needed/desired
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikia.css
presskit, including the image used for the wiki background
https://press.stairwaygames.com/
though you can also view the background (the image referenced in the CSS) here: https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/File:Coral_Island_main_artwork.png
and you'll have to be the one to contact Fandom to get the shared image library set up
https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Shared_images#How_can_I_set_this_up.3F
use this form and pick the "feature or extension turned on" category
https://fandom.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000931354
the help pages are kinda hell to navigate through, but they are overall helpful.

Thank you! Sorry for the late reply, I was in the middle of a weekend class. I have just created an Indonesian wiki (still empty tho!). I'll reach you guys out when I have more questions! Thanks again.
Oh right! If anyone has resources for the wiki theme (e.g. images like .ico for the wiki favicon, background, and header images), it will be very much appreciated if they can probably share it!
Right now I'm only using the images I can find online. It's not a must, I'm just making sure the wiki for both languages look about the same!
@barren tinsel I'll DM you
Thanks!
@barren tinsel can you drop the link to your wiki?
Waitt
https://coralisland.fandom.com/id/wiki/Beranda here it is!
okay, made an interlanguage link request
hmmm... do people want to be able to earn achievements for editing? https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Achievements
you can have custom images and achievements, of course
ex. Portia wiki's:
it's nice to have goals to work towards, but some people might do spammy or low-quality edits to earn achievements, so that might create extra work to monitor and make sure there's nothing inappropriate on the wikis and such
I'm going to rename all NPC's portrait files to simple NPC.png for easier templating in the future if everyone's ok with that
also, we might want to crop all the portraits to the same size to keep them uniform size and proportional in future templates for, say, gifting. I can do it sometime soon if it's ok
I saved them straight from the site so I didn’t bother resizing from whatever they originally had. They didn’t seem to be different sizes at the time tho
I've meant the character portraits the dev team uploaded. they're likely to be used for templates, so they have to be uniform
That would be great! Thank you!
Yessss
Thank you as always, Kalinka!!
the font page titles use is super cute! how about using it for infobox headers as well?
or perhaps it's better to wait until the alpha release before doing any css styling 🤔
ok, so I'm going to keep the portraits' width at 512 and crop the height to 438 to keep them uniform
I haven't looked into how to do that yet
We're just inexperienced, it's okay
could someone pin the link to the wiki?
Better then pin it. Someone add it to the channel description
yeah that works!

@ember pollen not yet, I think! Could you link the source, please?
Welcome to our first monthly development update! This post is particularly special because we are finally showing in-game footage of Coral Island. Please keep in mind that everything is a work in progress -- many assets are still placeholder, and lack the final polish the released game will have. All that being said, w
yes thats the source, thank you MarkGrant 🙂
yes thats the source 🙂

I think it’ll be a good idea to add a spoiler tab to character pages or other pages that might be spoilers as more info is released
Especially once the alpha starts so no one stumbles across any spoilers they don’t want to have
I disagree. I consider spoilers necessary only before major plot breaking events. and perhaps not even there
it is a wiki after all, one doesn't go on a wiki expecting not to be spoilered
perhaps a broader alpha content warning on the main page could be useful once the alpha starts
I think I’ll respectfully disagree there. Players use wikis as a sort of unofficial fan guide for birthdays, gifts, schedules, that sort of thing.
Not everyone goes into a wiki looking for all the spoilers
birthdays, gifts, or shedules are usually in their own respective sections, folks can ignore other sections while looking for that information.
plus I think it's worth making a separate gift and birthday list anyway.
a wiki is not a guide, it is supposed to be comprehensive. I am against overusing spoiler warnings (and I consider spoiler warning character pages generally an overuse unless something very major happens to a character) and more for "go at your own risk" approach
I don't think it's possible to avoid spoilers completely even if only looking for gifts and schedules. you're inevitably see an item not available during the early game, an interesting location, etc
I don’t think it’s conducive to argue this point of view. People will use the wiki for a variety of different reasons, whether we initially intend it to or not. I’m simply putting the idea out there that others have expressed.
maybe a system for putting information only gained from high-heart events in a start-closed drop-down that has a little spoiler flair like the Fire Emblem wiki uses would be a happy medium. no spoiler tags ||like this|| and keeps that info easy to access for people who are treating the wiki as a game guide as opposed to a learning tool.
okay actually i forgot how egregious the FE wiki is with it, i meant something more like stardew valley's
That’s perfect! That’s actually what I had meant but explained poorly 💙
something auto-closed like FE's but shows up like the drop-down of SD's
Yes, collapsible areas on the wiki for things like heart events or things that would be considered "spoilers"
any info you could glean from the character over the course of random dialogue should be open and on their wiki page, but "heart event" exclusive information and any descriptions of them should be under a designated "spoiler" category
I also always love it when game wikis have a “dialogue” tab for interesting dialogue that helps you know the character but that may not be practical here
also totally unrelated to that discussion:
now that the merfolk kingdom is officially going to come, i think Agung and Denali's pages in the Footer NavBox should be relegated to a new Merfolk category like "Townie" or "Bachelorette" because our merfolk roster is gonna explode. but i think the Merfolk species page should stick with the Coral Three section.
I would love a merfolk section
@marble bane is the one who made it though and I’m not that savvy
sdv wiki generally does a pretty good job at handling things like that, that I like
the dialogue can be on its own separate subpage if there are enough lines. it's not practical at this point though
added the merfolk section
Will do later, yeah
Oh wait. Misread. Thanks, @hushed loom!
should we add the characters navbox to the townies and the merfolk as well?
it's only on the bachelor/bachelorette pages currently as far as i can tell
Yeah the goal was to add to all
Just that pesky real life got in the way
Also @marble bane SAAAAARC LOVE 💙
I got distracted and forgot
It do be like that
category name: Shops or Stores? am thinking that Emma's Taco Truck will also fit into this, so I'm leaning towards "Shops"
Services might also work, since there's the Hair Salon and Coral Inn
Services sounds better. Or maybe one for services and one for shops?
currently of the opinion that it's easier to have anything you can exchange money/etc. at lumped into the same category for ease of browsing
........wait
Shops and services works
Makes more sense to me too
...I miss Ajax Rename
that UCP wiki software "upgrade" done us dirty in some aspects
@marble bane hope it's coooooool but I've been making minor grammatical changes as I've been reading
should I make an acct?
oh that's you! thanks for the help!
it'd be nice if it was easier to tell who's doing what, so if you don't mind making an acc, that'd be cool! if not, it's also fine; not necessary to make one
hahahaha is me.
I gave in and decided to read the entire wiki because june is way too far away.
I'll go ahead and make an acct, no biggie. 😄
oh...why is it in russian

that was so weird lol
sometime Fandom borks, but it's always alarming when it's in a different language
did refreshing do anything?
yeah i backed out and clicked the link again and it was back to english which was nice
okay good 😂
edits by me are "alexizap" same as my discord
you're really reading through everything, huh? 👀
LMAO. yeth.
i'm not so great at the researching and creating content but i'll polish it up nice and pretty ✨
much appreciated!
Coral Island (game) now has the content that Coral Island previously did, and Coral Island is now about the island itself, for easier linking. CI (game) can still be quickly and consistently linked using the ci template
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Coral_Island_(game)
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Coral_Island
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Ci
okay I think I've fixed it
looks fixed to me!
gonna assume you've refreshed but that's weird, i reopened the tab and it looks fine
i did refresh yeah
shoutout to whomever did the fruit plants and fruit trees page. first page sans fixes. 👌🏽
@marble bane sorry to pester you again, should i denote my changes at the bottom with a generic message like "grammar/spelling" or is that kinda superfluous?
I wonder if it’s because they all saved as transparent from the dev site
To be fair, a lot of the text came directly from the dev site or KS and not editors. 💙 There were bound to be language barriers here or there
ooooof. i realize now how my message sounded : ( it was more like praise to them and not meant to call anyone out.
😭 i love you all and absolutely didn't mean to point out anything negative. i think i got super "in the zone" and didn't pause to reflect on how it could've come across. sorry!
try ctrl + F5 to clear your browser cache?
and mobile can take a while to refresh because mobile
editing summaries are generally helpful, especially when you have multiple editors actively working on a wiki
I try to fill them in when I don't forget
Can I just say that I'm loving this right now? Karen
No worries! Just wanted it be clear! I’ve been editing when I have time for consistency and fluidity myself. I just want to make sure that the devs if they see this feel appreciated either way!
Hi, I'm Ocianne on the wiki and added the navboxes because I'd been wanting to do something to help the wiki and saw it would be useful and had the time. I love wikis and this game and hope to keep helping out as time goes on!
oh great, been wondering who that was! thanks for your help!! I really appreciate that
I'm so excited to have so many people helping out already
Glad to help out! Wikibuilding is something I did a fair amount of on one of the Englishfandom Detective Conan wikis, years and years ago, so it's fun to be on a brand new wiki. 😁
is that why you were quick to put a link to that wiki on the reference to it?
Yes because I was so amused to be able to go "I know that reference!", and I hate when there's a reference I don't understand and can't find out.
Not on the google algorithms yet. My coral island wiki search resulted in Lord of the Flies - Coral Island.
@tight moth are you working on the Kickstarter page rn? I'm gonna rename it in sentence case if not
go for it
expanding info a lil rn
also changing headers to sentence case
Thanks for the heads up, I see you put a lot of work already into the kickstarter section on the game page! I made the separate page focused more on the kickstarter exclusive rewards because I always end up on the wikis looking that up for kickstarter-funded games.
But I think it deserves its own page anyway.
yeah, I was planning on making one but been busy, so thanks for getting this set up!
done editing for rn; feel free to move info from KS section on CI page to KS page if you'd like
Awesome, I'll look at the details again to see what might be better shared, or on one or the other.
....Tomorrow. It's late in my timezone now and I need sleep. I'd also like to make the table cells on the main page formatted a bit more mobile friendly, I'll look at that after the KS page...
Thanks for the other adds and images!
the main page
its design needs a lot of work
it's functional and overall has the info where intended on mobile, but. it uggy
notes for later implementation:
- fishing minigame + combat might be optional; still under deliberation
- key given from KS cannot be switched, so survey is final answer
- no rival marriages
Hi hello yes, just found the wiki, am reading all the getting started, rules for posting ect ect now and would LOVE to help contribute... if i could? also hi >.>
I did 😄 reading through everything now
@worn patio Welcome to the wiki!
who in the world requested to disable combat???? the fishing mini game i get cause of SDV but like it could be similar to animal crossing....
Not everyone likes combat! Sometimes people just want to farm, not fight
#coral-questions-and-help message this is the first message I remember mentioning it.
apparently it's been mentioned before this one
It's been requested quite a bit, as long as there's the option to keep it enabled as well, I'm cool with that 🙏 Also the wiki is looking so good! 💖
Some people have trouble with RTC and timing. I’m one of them, so I understand that desire there. I think as long as things like this are sliders or optional, it won’t impact anyone who esnts them either way.
But on a side note, the site looks a loooot better on mobile
The home page is still a bit clunky tho. I’ve been trying to work out how to restructure it
I think the tables in the main page need to be separated so multiple columns become multiple tables. Mobile view can shift tables in a way that it can't do with multiple columns
I'd do it now but I'm stuck on mobile till I'm home from work and editing on a phone screen is hard.
Gosh yes! I have the same issue myself. I have to wait until I get to a computer
But on the upside, it’s not time sensitive to update at least
Yeah. I'm sure we'll all be waiting a lot for more content to add to the wiki between now and Alpha, so there's plenty of time to refine formatting.
I don’t have trouble with timing, I just don’t find that much enjoyment in combat.
Only do it because it’s necessary
I might be more excited if there were minotaurs that dropped beef so we can cook with meat
We can actually force the site to show completely different data or simplified data/formatting on mobile using the IfMobile (or IfDesktop) templates, but I have trouble figuring out how to use the templates sometimes
Same, coding gives me headaches.
working with wikitext, we have to use in place of | and in place of = when dealing with tables inside templates (like the ifMobile template), and that's where I screw up a lot, haha
also, re: coral island, i did ask this question on the kickstarter page and one of the devs said that there would be the option to be platonic with marriage candidates, so i'm very excited about that!
@fresh canopy hey, if you could link that response so I can use it as a reference, that'd be great!
oh man this was a while ago, i'm gonna have to scroll, but i'll link it when i find it again!
appreciate it!
ok i'm not sure how to link it, but here's a screenshot! https://gyazo.com/0cbc17ffb3dd2e0fbc8e97ed58005d2f
does that work for what you need it for?
can you grab the url of the page? is it just the comments page or is it on a specific update?
it's just the comments page
okay, that helps! thanks!
no problem!
I can rework the main page. Just give me some ideas and suggestions (ex: color scheme, headers, navigation, etc) and I’ll try to work with what I can and what skills allow me
And I will need images for the mobile navigation
What kind of images for mobile do you mean? Like buttons instead of text links?
you can set up a separate mobile main page that uses images to link to categories, I assume that's what Lotus meant
it's not required to set one up though. the existing mainpage can be adapted for mobile using templates
I'm torn because images for mobile could be nice, maybe different crops from this game art https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/coralisland/images/f/fa/Coral_Island_main_artwork.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/985?cb=20210122172824
mobile main page is a pain to edit tbh
I feel that
we can set it up after the wiki takes shape
it doesn't use wikitext at all but uses that weirdo fandom interface instead
I made some changes to the main page though, it should be a little more readable on mobile for now
That sounds painful, I bow to your expertise!
The changes for core game already help for mobile view. That shouldn't be hard to apply to the other sections either, hopefully
it's a pain
but I'll do it
I hate fandom for taking out the mobile preview from editor, so bear with me while I save and rewrite the page again and again
hmmm I'd rather template these link blocks eventually
okay it should be more mobile friendly now
It looks so much better - and I took a look at the code you put in and it reminds me why I could never wrap my head around coding. I think I will focus on content and when existing code needs to be copypasted to be useful...
All I want to do is switch more of the front page text to Itim font for readability/aesthetics and the page editor automatically removes all the Nowiki tags for some reason? I don't want to break the page. Why is code like this. Whyyyy. ☹️
are you using the source editor?
and not the 2017 one?
hmm, the main page might be more manageable if we template it
Go for it
I was gonna make a sandbox page but I think I got distracted before actually saving the sandbox template, whoops
I was using the source editor. I haven't figured out how to change font in the visual editor at all, I go back and forth depending on what I'm trying to do. But if someone wants to template the main page that would be cool and make it easier for more people to contribute edits in the future, I think.
you can also try switching to a different source editor in preferences
Nope, on computer when I try these. I'll check the source editor preferences in case I'm in one that makes more problems.
Hooray changing to the other source editor is working!
I’m glad to see that there is a wiki under development. Anything I can do to help?
plenty to do! in general, it'd be nice to expand the existing info with whatever's known but not yet documented, along with make pages more interconnected by adding links where appropriate
im not an editor but i noticed yuri's page is missing this section ^^
yuri is under bachelorettes?
Yep she is a bachelorette. Able to be dated and married.
yeah i was saying that you could see yuri's name under the bachelorettes section
Whoops yeah I understand now lol sorry
Should the crops category page (referenced on the main page) include fruit trees and fruit plants?
yes
I’m only guessing that Main ave is in Starlet Town.
Never mind, Scott’s page confirms that.
All of the characters who have a residence, they now link to something, even if most are stubs.
thanks!!
stubs and even nonexistent pages are okay; a lot of content still needs to be made. but setting up links now is helpful
Should we have a Tools category?
Hmm I think they’re all in one page atm.
I created stubs for the other tool pages.
Should cooking be one of the entries under “Core Game” on the main page?
yes
other things need to be added too, like the multiplayer, romance, calendar, Kickstarter, etc. pages. I'll try to get to adding them after work
note for later: achievements on every platform
also reminder to self to add these to wiki
Is there a To Do page? I’m more of a grinder than a creator.
That's a great idea, something to add to the Need help editing? Box that's wiki specific
Everything. Everything needs to be done
Once the game is out:
we'll need to figure out how to rip icons, dialogue, and hopefully gifting info so they're easier to add to the wiki. I'm not sure how much of the dialogue to add, but getting at least the responses to gifts, the first thing they say to you when you meet, and some quotes that show their character would be ideal
Getting good, clear screenshots of each location is also a priority. Should be cropped to not show UI, though idk if we can avoid having the player in it
We'll also need shop stock and prices, crop prices, etc., but that's for later
For now:
it would be nice to collect promotional artwork that hasn't been added to the wiki yet and add them to the appropriate galleries, like for the characters that are in the art
The info in the Kickstarter/Discord FAQ, press kit, trailer, etc. should also be worked into the wiki, if the info doesn't exist there already
I'm going to add the rest of the kickstarter images when I can, it's on my to do list.
Awesome, thank you!
I'm also going to start collecting the notes you have here on the Discord into a wiki page so people who aren't on the Discord but want to contribute with some guidance have a reference point. 😁
That would be awesome!
Work's been on my mind a lot, so I haven't been able to hyperfocus on this as much as I've been wanting to, but I'd like to help make a really useful and aesthetically pleasing wiki for this great game
We'll get there together!!
Yep! And there's plenty of time even before the Alpha launches

Oh, btw @ anyone who's interested in adding stuff to the wiki: we're linked to the Bahasa Indonesia wiki. Any images we upload on the English wiki are also usable on the Bahasa Indonesia wiki, but changes to images on our side don't carry over, iirc. So please name images useful names that describe the contents of the pic when uploading them, like Giving gift to Eva.png or Sam's General Store interior.jpg or Durian Tree growth stages.png instead of unsearchable titles like Screenshot_01.png or 20210303_05.jpg 🙏
How can I be a Wiki editor for the Spanish version?
You'll need to make the Spanish affiliated wiki first
@woeful wadi hey, please see this info up here! 💖
Oh good I was looking for that. Sarcosmic maybe can you pin that for this channel for other language wiki interested people?
@lunar creek could you pin this, please?
Yessir, all done!
Danke schön!
どういたしまして!
@woeful wadi if you're still interested, I can send you the logo, favicon, etc. and some other info to get you started with the basic design of the wiki. We can also link the wikis in the ways I described in the pinned conversation.
Yes I'm Really interested.
Awesome!! I'm excited!
Im reading the message you guys pinned.
Wikis can be great resources for games like this, especially when they're in a language you're comfortable in, so it's awesome to see others interested in building them already!!
For me translations are so important, especially cause I want my kids learn other languages by playing.
Unfortunately, languages are hard for me, except English which I’m only good with because I’ve been using it for such an incredibly long time.
That's super fair! I'm only comfortable in English, too, though I'm trying to learn Japanese and know a tiny bit of Vietnamese, German, and Spanish
I want to add the wiki affiliate info to the "How to contribute page" so we can add a "make an affiliate wiki!" link somewhere on the main page too.
I'm comfortable with English and Spanish (I learn English the tough way xD) but I'm trying to learn French and Portuguese
modified one of my messages to include the info I gave to others
contact me for the favicon and wordmark if you don't want to make your own, since I'm not sure if it's cool to drop them in the server haha
apparently I actually have the ability to pin things in this channel
When we have a todo page, please post and pin it.
Almost done with the start of one
Creating screen shots without the farmer, do two screen shots with the character in different places and copy/paste one section over the other.
We also should have a manual of style for at least some things - which version of working to us, US vs UK, making new page titles using sentence case and not capitalizing each word of the page, guidelines for how many images max a gallery should have, if any....
I've been working under this one, which is itself largely similar to Wikipedia's, but much more simplified and easier to skim.
https://mytimeatportia.fandom.com/wiki/My_Time_at_Portia_Wiki:Manual_of_Style
I dunno if it's fair to declare which English needs to be used. Wikipedia doesn't care. the Portia wiki uses American English while the Staxel wiki uses UK English because those are what each game uses, but I'm not sure yet if it's necessary to pick one for the Coral Island wiki.
It's nice to be consistent about these kinds of things, but going with whatever English spellings the game uses is probably the best way to decide
I Agree with @zenith pasture
not sure what it uses yet, but I did notice it uses "Fall" instead of "Autumn," so maybe that's a hint.
Maybe, but English has several variants and some use both words for that season basically interchangeably (looking at you, Canada)
yeahhhh. it's hard to make this call this early
I haven't done a ton of wiki editing in the past so I don't know if there's an automatic mechanism for redirects if there's a page that's spelled differently in other variants? (armour vs armor gets me the most often in other game wikis) but that's something to think about
@tight moth maybe create a section on the todo page for after the alpha launches and put the English variant question there?
not automatic. would need to be done manually.
Or I guess we could ask one of the Stairway managers
eh... maybe. they're pretty busy rn tho
No doubt
I'm not sure how many spelling-based redirects will be necessary, but that's the kind of grunt work I'm oddly fond of doing
@zenith pasture that’s why I called myself a grinder.
The less redirects the better is the hosting site rec because of how search engines evaluate site info usefulness
Sounds like it's a trade-off between search engine optimization and user experience, then...
it's fine to make lots of redirects. Fandom ranks ridiculously high and there aren't gonna be many competitors yet.
I'm fine with that
Sounds good to me!
sorry if I sound bossy or anything, btw! this is a collaborative project and we're bringing it to life together, so feedback and changes are welcome
That's what the Discord is for-- we're discussing!
No problem, I work best with external oversight anyway so even if I did consciously notice the bossiness it doesn't bother me
most of my past wiki experience has been correcting typos and similar grunt work, so I'm excited to get in on the proverbial ground floor when there's more work available to be done!
I'm used to both content creation and proofreading (I now proofread as a job and for funsies, actually). the thing I need a lot more practice and/or help with is designing and CSS/HTML
the wiki theme could be way prettier
that's........ basically what I'm in school for, I've literally taken courses on web design/CSS/HTML
lemme take a look
I’m actually a full-stack web app developer, but I can’t design my way out of a wet paper bag.
I'm way more interested in the front end, stuff like UI/UX design
I love me some wireframes
Lotus/Bermuda can help design the front page for mobile, which is a bit of a different beast with Fandom's forced mobile skin (mercury) involved
that's great! like I said, I'm not very experienced with this Specific stuff, so I'll take all the help I can get
there isn't enough content for mobile main page yet
he did the Portia/Sandrock designs, which I think work pretty well on mobile
I don't like that it links to categories
but category pages are gonna be developed nonetheless
category pages can be good portal / hub pages
but yeah, I'd also like it to link to mainspace pages istead
updated with Spanish wiki link
Okay, here's the start of the To Do, including as much as I could make sense of the wiki affiliate. Sarcosmic, I'm going to leave it to you if you think more/less should be in that section.
It's still rough but I'll work on it more when I'm not at work 😅
While we’re on the topic of main page, I need some ideas on the color theme. I’m currently brainstorming how to make the main page stand out. Images are a must as it attracts attention. But right now there’s little to work with. Gonna try to figure out how to keep the current main page navigation but make it more

Desktop or mobile? I think orange and blue is a good complimentary set of primary colors that evoke coral and ocean
I updated the main page's formatting/layout a lil. added the trailer back.
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/
@fresh summit do you want adminship so you can mess with the CSS
I like the list of links on the main page, it being searchable is a big plus. but there isn't much we can do to spruce it up at the moment with how little images we have to work with
mixed feelings about how it looks on PC, but I'm actually pretty pleased how it's coming on mobile. the formatting is a lil wonky in some places but tends to make sense. and the little leaves in the header template are super cute and help visually break up the sections more
it might help left aligning the lists for pc view
the icons could also help, but we don't have enough of those atm
and maybe we can try getting rid of the orange borders (or perhaps replacing them with something else) 🤔
frankly, I'm not a fan of how bright that orange theme color is
I have an idea of how to display the desktop main page. 🌝 at least for the characters anyways
Keeping the List-style integrity
Is the welcome message meant to be at the bottom of the page now? I liked when it was ahead of the core game section. --this looks like a mobile thing, since it's on the side on the desktop page.
🤔 trying out a simplistic version of the main page header
Ooh I like the headers with icons

I'm trying to get a chance to read up on some of the great work y'all are doing on the wiki today 🙂
Is it possible to adjust the width of the location Infobox a few pixels? When the line for employee(s) is used, the second ) is put on a second line if mobile is in desktop view and maybe any desktop view. I noticed it here: https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Museum
On the Categories page, there’s an entry for Animals, which redirects to Creatures, but there isn’t an entry for Creatures.
I don’t see how that page gets modified.
There are 50 entries on the page of “Uncategorized files” but it isn’t clear to me what that means or how to fix it. Help?
looks fine to me? I'm on a 1920x1080 display
Ah, wait, reread that. It's also fine for me on a Pixel XL
modify which page? the animal category redirect?
@tight moth is correct, it gets wrapped on smaller screens.
how small
That too, but mostly I meant the page https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Special:Categories
Categories | Coral Island Wiki | Fandom
that page is automatically generated and updated
pages in the Special namespace can't be modified, afaik
The system report says my resolution is higher than that, but it’s a 13” laptop.
that doesn't help 😅
need the display resolution
How is it getting its data?
Creatures should be on that page.
I just tested the Museum page on each of these display resolutions and it displayed as intended
windows 10, 1 update behind Chrome, fullscreen window
let's simply delete the parentheses
2560x1600
category Animals is linked on the main page and nowhere else
I'm going to delete it for now
you can categorize them if you want
ahhh. right. I had intended to use that category for specifically animals
but right now there aren't individual pages for animals, so I made it a redirect
I find image categories useful but I've only created one image category so far
makes sense. I've axed it for now but we can always recreate it if the need arises
cat:creatures works tho
I can do some fine touches with the infobox later
Figuring out how to categorize them was the trick.
If there’s an ugly file name should we delete it and reupload?
2c02da6b2d2a85c06cc5057dacf7ffa5 original.png
given that we're linked to the Indo and Spanish wikis... hmm. I guess it doesn't hurt to do it this early
That was my thought
if you're not able to delete them yourself, you can add this template to the img description to let admins delete them
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Delete
or you could also drop links here, that'd work, too
@fresh summit Do you mind if I copy over the Manual of Style from the My Time at Portia wiki? Sarcosmic mentioned that's the one they're referencing, and it'd be nice to have an in-wiki reference for consistency when more people are contributing to the wiki in the future. I like how clean and concise it is, I'd just adjust names in examples to reflect Coral Island's setting.
of course!
go ahead
ive also added the moscorrect/incorrect classes on the css, so the colors will show up properly
Hooray for colors!
Coming back to the UK vs US English debate, in the announcement trailer Scott mentions taking trash to a dumpster, which is a pretty uniquely American term. So unless we're shown otherwise I'm going to leave the MTaP section on "Generally use American English"
I usually resort to whichever one is mostly used by our wiki readers, based on geographical location. And normally that’s the US
Of course if the game uses non-American spelling, then it would be wise to stay consistent with the game
yeah, that was the general consensus earlier and we left it at 'uncertain preference, check game spellings when available', but I was rewatching the trailer to enjoy the music and noticed the terminology choice. so it's still provisional but i feel fairly confident the devs are using American English in the game.
I didn't realize "dumpster" was American
Yep! It's actually a generalization of a brand name, like Kleenex is for tissues. British English will use 'skip', and the two have equivalent function but different design shapes.
The more you know... 🤯

starting to improve topnav now that I remember it exists
4 main, then 7 sub, then 10 sub-sub, basically
https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Navigation#How_many_links_can_it_contain.3F
The maintenance pages are going to be very useful.
Who are the Wiki admins? There’s a (missing) page for that.
Right now it's me, Anastasia, Soma, Kalinka, and Bermuda
I'll make a page by this weekend
I’m just churning out stubs for non existent but referenced pages.
Mm, okay
If there are many pages that are similar (ex. farm, farmhouse, farm house, your farm, player's farm, etc.) then they were either intended as redirects or can be turned into redirects to the relevant page
If I’m reading the standards correctly, we have some pages that have capitalized second words.
The use of capitalization is if both words are part of a proper noun, like Starlet Town, both are capitalized.
Something like the Kickstarter campaign, it is only capitalized for the first word because that's not a proper noun.
Manual of Style is capitalized because that IS a proper noun usage as a title, like how book titles are.
Some things are purposefully capitalized, like places, items, animals, etc. just cuz that's typical gaming convention, feels like
Some of that is to distinguish "this is something to pay attention to" or "this is a title or name, not just a noun". It's the difference between "I went to the laboratory" and "I went to Starlet Town Laboratory, the only laboratory on Coral Island".
Yeah if it’s just a generic title like “Farm animals”, then the title would be in sentence-case (where you would write it as if you were writing a normal sentence: capitalization, grammar, etc).
The purpose is so that when you write a sentence on an article and link a page, you would write it as “The farm animals are...”.
It wouldn’t make sense to make it “The Farm Animals are...”
If it were an item or a place or a name, it would be capitalized, just for this wiki’s purpose and clarity. In the real world, you would only capitalize proper nouns.
Like Fishing pole has Pole capitalized in the page name and I don't think it should be, since it's a noun and not a proper noun.
But it's also a tool name
if there's an item in the game called Fishing Pole, its page name should be capitalized
generally speaking, the wiki should follow the in game capitalization where applicable
Speaking of items, the file names for some of the icons have the item type included (like Tool - Watering Can).
Once we have more information, I think we should just change it to Watering Can (same goes for the other icons). This is just so we can do something similar to Template:I from MTaP wiki.
Would we need to re-upload the pictures with the different name because of the affiliate wikis possibly using the same templates but not seeing pic title name changes? Or would it still work as long as they can find the pics under the original name?
Ooh. It depends on how they handle their templates. If they're both gonna copy the page formatting and templates we use, we could delete and reupload the pics... Or we could also let them make decisions on how to handle this, since it might be hard for other editors to work if they don't know what things are called in English, so it might be easier in the long run for them to reupload pics at their discretion.
I don’t think watering can should be capitalized, nor should fishing pole. That’s my opinion. But I was mostly referring to bug catching, fruit trees, and the like that are fully capitalized on the main page.
In a multi-player game, everyone has a watering can, so it isn’t unique, it isn’t The Watering Can, it’s a watering can among several.
I'm inclined to retain whatever capitalization that the game uses. The tool page and a lot of other pages were started by Anastasia and Soma, so title case for item names and stuff seems likely
Perhaps we should edit the section on capitalization to make it clear that anything capitalized in the game gets capitalized.
Set up creature sub categories for farm, barn, coop animals like we do for romanceable characters?
I see now. What I meant was a navbox template for creatures.
are there enough pages yet to warrant one?
it would be useful once we have more content
Yeah. There's no info about animals or monsters yet, just artwork and images
We have some pages, even if they’re all stubs. I was just thinking it would be easier to have the structure set up and slot things into their proper places as they get added.
So uh... Fandom.com is having a stroke?
What kind
The kind where it won't come up at all. 😛
Their whole website seems to have gone POOF
probably a DNS issue or something, but still
I’m not having any trouble.
Oh nice, whole site's down for me, too
That's inconvenient
I've tried it on Chrome and Opera (since I use OperaGX now; it's less of a resource hog than chrome BY FAR) and not working for me
I wonder if it’s a regional thing. Still good here in Pennsylvania
My assumption is that there's routing issues from wherever they're being hosted to other places. It'll all depend on which network the traffic is moving through to get to some people, and if there's specific servers or networks that are having outage issues, than the people connected through those won't see the site, but people who route differently will. I mean, ultimately, it could also just be a straight up DNS error on their end, or if they use something like Cloudflare that could be having a problem too.
And why yes, I did work as first level tech support for a web-hosting company, however could you tell? XD
I’m the sole developer and customer support for the web app I work on, but then my user base is about 40 people.
glad Fandom wasn't down too long
tech development and support sound pretty hard, no matter the userbase size 🥴
anyways, some info about diving/coral stuff

The birthday in wiki is really staff who make it?
Yes, birthdays were provided by Stairway
Wow Amazing
Nina is related to Luke and Walter? ... but not Bree? .. also on the Wiki why is Luke and Walter listed as her family but she isnt listed in their Bio?
Can I add this picture to the skill tree wiki? I thought about adding but couldn't find formatting rules for the wiki, for the image name/description.
the related characters were added by the devs, I don't think we had a clear explanation how these characters are related yet
feel free to add or edit anything on the wiki! but please rename the file to something like Skill Tree kickstarter before uploading to keep it clean
Okay thanks!
I've never edited any open source project/fandom/wiki, but I really want to start with this one! I just graduated with a bachelors in computer science and have some experience with web development. I've been looking through the fandom site and it looks super nice! One thing I noticed is that on the main page, community center is orange vs the other titles of locations which are black. It looks like in the html, it is set up as a link, where the others aren't. I am not sure how you edit something like that, but i know you can inline change the color of that specfic link to black and it won't mess up the rest. How do you edit the html/css or is there another way to edit that?
At this point having the orange makes it clear it's a link in comparison to the others, but it's likely that the other locations will be made into links as we get more pages created -- Starlet Town and the beach both have sub pages now, I think
I went ahead and added a navbox for creatures. That was interesting to see how that worked - cool magic.
Nice, thank you!!
That was so much fun I did one for locations too. Just call me the mad navboxer.
If there’s something else anyone wants a navbox for, let me know.
I was looking at the navboxes on the SDV official wiki and we’ve come about as far as we can until the game comes out.
Pretty much! Thanks for all your help already
Oh yeah, just realized that backerkit is not on the wiki yet, I don't really know how to edit it, just if someone wants to do it
Hello, so I edited the socials on the main page, but it looks weird on mobile,
how to you use the {{IfDesktop and {{IfMobile ?
hi, im at work rn so can't help, but please see the documentation and hopefully that helps!
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Template:IfMobile
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Template:IfDesktop
Ahh, tysm!
wait, does it support multiline? I think I tried that before but only result in {
also, you can reply after work ^^;
so this is how it looks rn?
idk if you'll be able to make the text and icons centered, but you can make the icons be in the same cell as the link using one of the templates
wym by multiline?
so i tried something like this
{{IfDesktop |
Hello, Desktop

Hello, Mobile
only result in
{
or something, because the ones I looked on the home page is only one like
Townies
something like that
Ah, also, the reason I put the links and the icons on different cells is because the link is beside the icon (?) I wanted it under the icon, unless I can do that without using two rows then xD
linebreak (<br />)
style="padding: 20px" |<br />Official <br /> Instagram
oops. cuz it interprets those | as part of the template
need to use this template instead but it doesnt exist on this wiki yet
https://mytimeatportia.fandom.com/wiki/Template:!
need to copy over these templates to CI wiki for usage within IfMobile/Desktop, etc. templates
https://mytimeatportia.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Templates
ohh, I see... I haven't understand about templates yet, but I'll try copying that first
but easiest method to get look you want is to just use <br />
oh yeah, letme save that xD
Also another question, I see that on the eng wiki when using links it automatically doesn't have the link icon like this. How do you bulk remove it? Because I just copy and pasted the whole page and translated it haha, so I suppose no extra code was added
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but that type of link icon indicates a link to an external website, rather than to a page within the wiki.
eum, yeah exactly, here on the main eng page it doesn't have that icon
sorry if I ask a lot, first time editing a wiki
are you working on another language Coral Island wiki?
I think this is the code that removes the external link icon
content: none !important;
}```
<https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikia.css>
yes, also thanks!
where do you put that btw? on the home page?
ohh nvm, thanks for the infoo
actually, I can't edit it-- sorry might need your hand https://coralisland.fandom.com/id/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikia.css
I can only edit the MediaWiki of the Eng wiki. ask @barren tinsel for help with the Indo wiki
Hi! I'll give you a hand as soon as possible. Thank you for the ping, Sarcosmic!
Hi folks I'm not sure of the limitations of the menu but when you hover on characters, only a few show. I first thought there were only a handful of marriage candidates but turns out there's way more (had to travel to the page and then scroll down). I could just be dumb, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Cheers!
those are fandom limitations, the navigation menu cannot be made long enough to accommodate all romanceables
you can click on Characters or Marriage candidates to be taken to the respective category page, these pages have the full lists
If the menu can’t be long enough for all the option, I wouldn’t use the menu. Just my two cents.
we can disable the submenu showing the current most popular pages in the character category. but I'd rather leave that up.
Can we have the character menu just show the subcategories of Marriage Candidates and Townies, no individual pages? I think it would be less confusing.
there's no separate category for townies
I can make one though, but I don't think it's useful
almost every submenu item in the World menu is a cat link like that though
and folks familiar with fandom wikis usually know how it works
the menu can be reworked of course, though right now there isn't that much wiki content to give it a major rehaul
I think the layout and the organization is awesome, just that character menu specifically threw me off a tad.
there could be a characters page like my hero's https://myheroacademia.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Characters. they can be easier to navigate than the actual categories
Oh, for sure
Hey friends! There have been a couple of inquiries about Nina's wiki page in the coral-ask-questions channel over the past couple of weeks. Some folks have noted that Luke and Walter are listed as "family". The first Q I saw (a week or so ago?) was asking for a source for that info; the most recent Q was whether it was there in error. I did a bit of digging in the KS updates and stuff, but didn't see anything. Can any of you remember where that info came from? Thanko!
iirc the info was added by someone from the dev team when the page was created
give me a moment to check
yes, it looks like the basic info on Nina's page was added by Anastasia
I wonder if she is a niece/Cousin?
Thank you!!
Could also be daughter/half-sister. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Anyway, will take my speculatin' outta here. Thanks again, wikifolk!
@warped canopy or @lime slate might be able to help us out in this regard, I hate to tag them but maybe they could take a look or clarify since the information was added by a dev previously
Hello, yeah, this was an error. Sorry folks!
Thanks so much Soma!
Thanks so much for letting us know
'preciate it, mate
There’s a fair amount of artwork that’s not featured on the wiki. Is that something that needs official approval to be added?
If the artworks were already posted in #🖼coral-images-official then it can be reposted 🙂
Half of the ones not on the wiki are posted there. There’s also more drawings of the characters on David’s Instagram
I think for David's art, you can embed that also as long as the watermark is kept~
I might have to ask management first about this
Yeah they all have his watermark. I’m not tech savvy to do it myself, but there’s different poses of the characters like Rafael hugging a chicken, Leah putting her hair up, Surya putting on his jacket, Theo holding a big fish
Technically it can be embedded, but maybe not reposted. I'm going to make sure first~
I’ll cross my fingers, I don’t want to overstep any boundaries 🤞🏽
just got confirmation from management, the art cannot be reposted, but can be embedded from his page/social media sites to wiki~ since wiki is official one then we cannot repost his images
Good to know. I’ve never dabbled in contributing to wiki, so maybe someone following these regulations/guidelines might update it?
Hello, I wanted to know if we had the possibility to start a fandom in another language (personally I would like to help with French) so I don't know how to do it at the moment
Okey, I just saw the pinned post, I'll try to do the fandom in French
Well actually ... I created the page but I have to say that I have a hard time with fandom ... in fact I would just like to have someone help me with the layout, and we let's just get the english for the main page to put it on the french page, I can translate easily, for the pages to be created I can do it
You can try contacting wiki admins for other languages for help! :) If you need help for creating wiki in French you can also ask in #français~
You’re the best Maya, I really appreciate the effort you’re putting in to address a lot of our comments and such. I feel like it could be a thankless job a lot of the time but personally I want to say thank you for all that you do for us on this Discord.
Hey, I'm working rn, but maybe tomorrow or this weekend I can help you set up more
Thank you! I just asked if there are people who know about Fandom, like its if I can get some help from French myself it's cool 😄 But I take any help I can ! 🙂
Yes thanks ! I totally forgot to ask the French for discord, that might help 🙂
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Farm_Animals
is there a reason the sheep isnt here?
like is that an error or on purpose :o
no page yet. Thanks for pointing it out!
I've added the page but I don't know how to edit the bar at the bottom so I can't add it in the creatures section 😅
oh, i gotchu. added Sheep in, but for future reference, things like those navboxes are templates. nav templates can be found here:
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Navigation_templates
thanks @ you both
I'll copy paste this on my sticky notes lol. Thanks!
@warped canopy no prob!
all the templates can be found here:
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Templates
some of them were generated by default upon wiki creation, a few were copied wholesale from the Portia wiki (like the IfMobile/IfDesktop ones), while others were created for the CI wiki
I noticed in the alpha general chat, someone mentioned we can volunteer to help out here? I'm not sure what we can bring to the table, but it would be fun to help out!
psst mods should put the fandom link info in the channel description instead of a pinned message
Feel free to add info you see missing while browsing the wiki! I haven't been able to update it recently so there's likely a lot of info missing
That dark mode. 😅
It's in both now. 🙂
The wiki is in Spanish right now. I don't think its something I did. Is that an error or can someone tell me how to get back to english?
It's in English for me :)
?
there should be english and bahasa indonesian as choices if you're on espanol
oh no 😅 Marissa I'm sorry! I misread your message and thought you meant the whole wiki was in Spanish generally, not specifically for you. My reply wasn't helpful at all. So sorry.
It’s set to English. I even updated and relaunched my browser.
I guess it’s a problem on my end
i just read through the main page of the wiki and you're right, it's set in spanish but every other page is english 👀
https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Surya
is this in english for you aswell?
Yes it is
yeah then it's just the mainpage - the spanish main page has some errors, it might be that somebody tried correcting them but accidentally changed the english page 🤔
Ok. Thanks for the help
thank you for pointing it out!
what is channel description?
No problem
@marble bane Heyya, sorry for the ping. I was wondering how do you use custom fonts? Imports on media wiki css doesn't seem to work for the new fandom design.
So far I've changed the design but only for Bahasa Indonesia version, might want to check that out and share your thoughts. Maybe we could improve it or somehow since I think themes should be the same across languages.
- I wonder how do you use images as a background like mtap wiki? xD
please check out https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css
the @import url and background-image bits are the relevant ones to you
You can also set background images depending on light or dark theme 😏
This is my version so far
.fandom-community-header__background::before {
background-image: none;
}
/*set light theme background*/
.theme-fandomdesktop-light {
background-image: url(https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/sun-haven/images/5/5f/Sun_Haven_Background_Test2.png);
background-attachment: fixed;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-size: cover;
background-position: top center;
}
/*sets dark theme background*/
.theme-fandomdesktop-dark {
background-image: url(https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/sun-haven/images/f/f3/Sun_Haven_Background_Test4.png);
background-attachment: fixed;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-size: cover;
background-position: top center;
}```
Oohh!! Awesome, Thank you :D Maybe I should fiddle around with the css more
Hey, I’m coming back to you to see if I could get some help from someone who works on the fandom, so I can help me a little bit on the common resources, like I said earlier, I’d love to start the fandom before the game comes out alpha, I’m also going to ask French people to help me with our translation, but I didn’t quite understand how to deal with the common resources
I think Sarcosmic or Quinne might help! Please also check the pinned messages for details, afterward you can write your question here and ping them~ ^^
All right, thanks Maya ! 🙂
@marble bane if we could have a discussion to help me in particular with the resources shared between the different fandom, I have not moved forward since and no one talks to me about it in the French chat so ... I come back to ask for help (I don’t like to impose myself and ping but I would really like to be able to say good news in the French chat and that we can start 😉 )
Hi, sorry for the late reply! I will set up some of the missing templates that the main page is dependent on
I've also added the French wiki to the pinned list of Coral Island wikis
It's been a while since I've worked on this wiki (or any wiki, really), so I'm just like "which templates mattered...?"
This is why it's good to write thorough template documentation while the information's fresh, ahaha
Ah! I can't help you but I mentally encourage you
@marble bane I named you a bureaucrat on the fandom 😉 in case you see mistakes that I can't fix later in the code or others, I would probably need you if I make mistakes haha
<@&704857062680821874> spam
Taken care of, thank you!
no prob!
Gotta take care of that moderator spam. 😜 no spamming, mods.
We're spamming love~ and a bit of sus chimkin
Since Alpha is under strict NDA, will it even be possible to add to it before early release?
I'll get back to you on that but I'd lean towards no, at least with any info directly from the alpha itself.
Well, to be precise, it will be a no for early Alpha. But the NDA should be lifted/loosened before Early Access, if that's what you mean by "early release." So yes it will be possible to add to the wiki during Alpha, but not until the NDA is lifted/loosened.
Yep definitely don't worry about information that takes place during NDA, you won't need to prepare any information to be uploaded at all because anything that takes place while the NDA is in effect will not go public even after the NDA is lifted. So you guys can just plan to update information that's made public and takes place after the NDA period has ended
wait that means possible no updates on the wiki in Alpha NDA period?
Yes, since that information is under the NDA, it would be a breach even if it was shared after the NDA period, since that specific information is covered. If, however, a specific part of the game was "still true" after the NDA period, then it would be okay to update the wiki with that information. The stipulations would only apply to something about the game that was only true during the NDA period and no longer true after the NDA period.
For a fictional example, let's say during the NDA period, there was a small fishing pond next to the blacksmith during the first build of alpha. It ended up getting scrapped and changed to a smaller pond that was no longer fish-able. Then the NDA was lifted and the smaller, non-fish-able pond was still there. The only thing true and acceptable to publicly state is that "There's a small pond next to the blacksmith." But it would be a breach of NDA if it was stated "There's a small pond next to the blacksmith that used to be bigger and fish-able."
ah thanks :) i understand
While we wait anyone willing to help me with another wiki on Fandom?
@marble bane Besides, I'm disturbing you one last time! I wanted to ask you to put the French page in the language category, so that the French can find it more easily, I send you the link, you will be able to see our progress me and some people have made good progress 😄 The link just in case : https://coral-island.fandom.com/fr/wiki/Wiki_Coral_Island
Hi @celest crane, are you asking to add French to the language options? If so, I can put in a request to link the wikis like so (see the post I'm replying to)
Yes it will be cool if you can do a request @marble bane , or I will
It looks like someone added some content from the Alpha, but I don't know if it was someone who is authorized to do so. https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Sam's_General_Store
@marble bane Sorry to bug you, are you able to see who's uploading information on the wiki? And can you remove it please?
I can do both, just a sec.
Noted. I will look into it, thank you
Thanks for the heads up @vagrant bloom
Reverted.
We appreciate you!
Just trying to be useful.
Do you know if there's any way to track the user, does their profile have an email or anything of the sort that we could contact? I haven't utilized the website before so I'm pretty unfamiliar with it
I wish I'd had a chance to try the alpha, but I don't have any Windows machines. My wife is going to let me use her laptop, but she also uses it for work.
Unless you can get Fandom to give you that, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Alright I did that. Thank you again for your help! I hope you enjoy the game when you do get to try!
I'm sure I will. And being a developer myself, finding bugs is kind of like the pinacle of nerd sporting events. 🙂
Maybe try this here?
...which consists of the old versions of the page text, as well as a record of the date and time of every edit, the username or IP address of the user who wrote it, and their edit summary.
Also I'm super late to the party here but if you still need wiki help, I can definitely help out! just shoot me a ping or such.
we can try adding a disclaimer about the nda to the main page
I can maaaaybe work on it tonight
That'd be super helpful! 🙏
Also yeah. fandom doesn’t let you view any personal information about people except their edit history in that particular wiki. It’s to prevent harassment.
I can understand that. Sometimes, on the internet, people become unreasonable.
Hey, I'll keep an eye on the Eng wiki
I started an NDA project page on the 31st but haven't had the energy to do much yet 😅
omg Sarc!! Let me DM you with the NDA
I have the link from the emails! But is it okay to re-publish its contents directly on the wiki?
Oh right you can use that too lol
Well the full content is available in-game for everyone
Lemme know if you need anything!!
thank you
what Kalinka was referring to was something like what we have at the top of the Sandrock wiki's main page. I think it's pretty helpful
https://mytimeatsandrock.fandom.com/wiki/My_Time_at_Sandrock_Wiki
Is anyone doing a German Wiki? Because of NDA I started documenting things locally on my PC - but I am awefully unexperienced in Wikis 😞 So if anyone is doing someting I would love to support
There isn't one listed. You might want to reach out to other German speakers and see if you can get a group together to work on that.
thanks 👍
It is! Thanks for the advise. German Wiki is empty - BUT with NDA Information 🤓
Vielen dank
judging from the screenshot, you read through some of the pinned/relevant info in this channel already? at least enough to set up the basic theme?
I did. Right now I am trying get the hang of fandom and templates. Might take a bit figuring out stuff and where to find it.

..ooh I am not on the server I thought I was lmao
ah right okay, that wouldn't have worked anyways haha
it's been a while since I tried to navigate another language's wiki
here's your category tree
https://coralisland.fandom.com/de/wiki/Spezial:Kategorien
your category for templates
https://coralisland.fandom.com/de/wiki/Kategorie:Vorlagen
@sand flare
@marble bane 🤩 👍
list of special pages
https://coralisland.fandom.com/de/wiki/Spezial:Spezialseiten
which you can access easily from here:
Thanks I found them while looking for the CSS Pages 🙂
excellent
Do I need another CSS besides MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Fandomdesktop.css? Is there a special one for mobile?
Mobile strips custom CSS and uses Fandom's mobile skin only
You are awesome @marble bane Thanks for helping!
I fear, I have more questions... 😩
What does this part?
es: id:
Kategorie:SITENAME
And is it possible to make a "sandbox-site" only visible to editors? So you can test your stuff bevor publishing it?
@sand flare
es: id:
those are ways to link one page to another, but you have to ask Fandom to connect your wikis together first
(I still need to put in a request for connecting the French wiki)
Kategorie:SITENAME
this puts the main page into this category:
https://coralisland.fandom.com/de/wiki/Kategorie:Coral_Island_Wiki
And is it possible to make a "sandbox-site" only visible to editors? So you can test your stuff bevor publishing it?
you can make a subpage off of your profile page
ex. https://mytimeatportia.fandom.com/wiki/Sandbox/SuperSarcosmic
or you can make a mainspace page
ex. https://mytimeatportia.fandom.com/wiki/Sandbox
you can check the page history to see how we used that sandbox page
https://mytimeatportia.fandom.com/wiki/Sandbox?action=history
It worked 🙂 https://coralisland.fandom.com/de/wiki/Redaktions-Sandbox/Tupfenteufel
How much joy these little things can bring 😂
Thanks again
@marble bane I am working on a wiki for another game I'm playing, how do the infobox templates get set up?
What game?
Infinite Lagrange - it's a Science Fiction MMO
Have you had a read of this?
Where did you get the official informations for the characters? Should we go from the source or "just" translate the english version without cross-checking?
If you mean for Coral Island NPCs, a lot of information was in the "Meet the Dateables" and other various sources like the website. Soma also helped with creating the pages, so he may have input information without a current public source, unsure about that though
For the birthdays, they were definitely added by the team since they haven't been stated publicly
Sounds good and trustworthy so far 🙂 Thanks @ornate rover
Hi everyone! I totally spaced over this channel and would love to help out if there are still some things that need working on
We’re mostly in a holding pattern until the NDA period ends.
Yep, Soma and Anastasia set up a bunch of the pages on the wiki with basic info at the start!
after the NDA ends, we'll need help with gifting info, crop info, etc.! Pretty much everything 😂
I know just the people for that
We're already on it in the alpha group

we won't be able to publish info from the alpha at all, btw. so **any info that's gathered during alpha must be tested and be still true in the early access version before it can be published **
Yep, hopefully just as simple as verifying and correcting. And stuff to be added as content is added. I'm excited for the page to grow over time
yeah
plus having the alpha info on hand to compare against will help streamline things, I think
Well of course; I'm down for stalking everyone all over again. Including the pets.
Dedication 🤭
In fact; I look forward to it
Name checks out
@marble bane do you per chance know, it there is any official information on the translations? Character names are pretty easy. But Locations or species coult be translated differeny ways
Not that I'm aware of. But any and all info from the alpha can't be published, and since that's the first place we could look for translations... We'll just have to wait
The team did announce that Alpha would only be in English, so that's not a concern on the NDA side of things, but it is on the translation side lol. I'm not sure when localizations can be expected, the fandom might just have to have unofficial translations for the time being if that's a thing
yeah, that's not an issue, wiki-wise. we can easily rename pages after official names come out.
to editors: I would recommend using PAGENAME in the infobox and in the main text body in place of any instance of the item/species/location/etc. name, so that the wiki automatically displays the name of the page in any instance of PAGENAME. So if the name of the page changes, then all of the instances of PAGENAME will also automatically display the new name without having to manually edit instances of the subject's name on the subject's page.
Thats a great Idea. Could this work with links to? For example: "Merfolk" translated to "Meeresvolk". The Page "Meeresvolk" will change using the placeholder. But what about the links to this page? Will the diplayed name change as well?
PAGENAME displays the name of the page that it is used on
So links and other mentions of that page on other pages will have to be manually edited. But it helps cut down on the work a little bit.
Alright. We will focus on Charakterpages and general Informations first.
hello @marble bane . The German Wiki is coming along well. You want to make the request for linking it to en, es, id and fr yourself, or shall I do this?
@ornate rover is it okay to translate citations?
Hey, I'll make a request today
Nice wiki Sar👍
Not just me. I'm far from the only one working on the wikis
Citations? Like sources? I'm not sure how any of this works, best to ask other Wiki admins or Soma if you need permission from someone from the team
I think it's best to note somehow that it's a translation and link to the original text, if possible.
as an extra backup for the original citation text, you can also leave notes if you put <-- these arrows --> around the text, with the text to be hidden in the middle like the "these arrows" text is. it'll be hidden from view from most people, but will be preserved in text on the page (comments like that can't be seen/edited in the default visual editor, but can be seen in source mode)
Didnt think of commenting. Thats a good advice.
Thanks again Sar - I appriciate your help very much.
