If you're below lvl60 I'd recommend focusing on the main story to get your level maxed out. Also check out the catch-up rewards in the bottom left corner of the season pass page

Uhh fertilizer should only decrease the time that it takes for the flower to grow, not make it black

If you're struggling to get black flowers, you can search up the black flower strat, plenty of videos available

Frost Mage can be considered the "best" because if you spec into Icicle you get a top tier single target DPS and can class change to Frostbeam to be the current top 1 AoE dps as well.

You'd quite literally have access to specialize in both single target and AoE.
