No. You can use other classes that would be better at other things. Redundant implies completely useless, wich they are not. As an example, a lycan can beat metins and mls at side events so long as you have the minimum of gear at mid levels. Sura is a second good alternative, one that albeit smaller in dps is self sufficient. Sura can aslo be good in the champion maps too due to that. Shamans are allways good as buffs no matter where, in pvp the damage is good too since not everyone had racial stones for them allways opting for more popular classes (guess who). War is self explanatory. I won't go in detail on each class and skill tree to prove a point. Point is, not all clases are redundant because one class is the best when it comes to one kind of farming.
