is there a reason why most material sanity values are based off the permanent stages as opposed to event ones, since most our farmed mats are the T3s from events and crafted from there? The sanity per material is pretty standardized throughout all event stages per material so is it possible to use some average of event stage values instead of the episode stages?
Plus its probably easier to just use event values instead of having to recalculate the Pareto efficient values of the mats from the permanent stages.

On penguin stats, there's like 20x more samples of EP-8 than the recommended permanant aketon map 10-4, so theres likely way more data on event stages. Event stages, while always changing, will always have 3 rotating mats, with basically the same sanity per material (T3 sugar is 21.6 sanity per sugar on all event farming stages.)
Most importantly, most players will farm most of their mats in events so using event data best models player behavior. (I cant speak for anyone not discussing online but most players here will stock up during events and manage their mats until the next event offering. If you dont care to farm efficiently with event stages, I doubt you care to plan to farm with Moe's sheet)

New players wont be farming aketon from 10-4 sooner than clearing a XX-6 stage, and I think we both agree we shouldnt be basing our materials calcs on the less efficient 2-X stages that most newbies would have to farm like once to get their first E2, if thats even relevant with the revamped new player experience in 2025.

The point is, the sanity/material of event stages basically dont fluctuate. It's just the availability of the stage. I still think its better to use event values but that just be my usecase. If a majority of your mats need to come from permanent stages, your approach is wise. But at that point, it goes back to: you should have farmed event stages harder if youre running out.

for me personally, i don't think event stages were enough for my mat demands until ~6mo ago, and i've been playing since launch

also, events don't have all t3 mats available at the same time, so you can't really say they're farmed with the same "pool" of sanity

i.e. the EP event had sugar/aketon/grindstone, but it's not like i can farm less grindstone in order to farm more oriron (since there's no event stage with oriron)

But of course, all of this is unproven until one can have access to how the system works and not just the bread crumbs of information the devs allow us to know about the recruitment mechanics. But at this point I have to bet these gold tags at least have a higher chance to show up after a crescendo of higher rarity tags in a specific slot, but who knows, I may be wrong.
