There's a skill node in the back half of the tree that removes that restriction, but it's expensive to unlock.

Alr, so:

S1 is purely AFK/Pulling into hole.

S2 when you need to control and kill several soldiers and dogs, when not running you with big pack.

S3 has longer cooldown, but allows to drag everyone in 3x3 into single tile, where weak enemies dies there.

S2 and S3 are map and enemy dependant, you will end up switching between those two.
But usually, S2 is common used.
