If you want to go for an easier but still more challenging variation that pulling I have some recommendations.

Do wellfare operators only. Or do free operators only. Wellfare ops only is using only oeprators freely given from events. Free operators only is any operator that you dont have to gacha for. Including shop operators or other sources.

4 stars only is also a possibility like you mentioned youre interested in. But do understand it isnt exactly easy. The above 2 are easier but still challenge runs. Easiest to hardest is Free only, Wellfare only and then 4 stars only

Against Tougher enemies, Delta is better since it can actually trigger the Elemental
If you're fighting the scrubs that Thorns already fights, then his other one is better since they die first before Elemental Trigger or atleast do anything meaningful

Also Delta using Prism is really a bad thing for it, so check your Planner and see if you will use them, it would be better to use his other one since it's not worth wasting Prism on him
