Hey @turbid zodiac 👋 To control multiple devices at once, my recommendation would be to use a “Multi-action” on Stream Deck. Within a multi-action, you can add multiple Govee actions to control all your lights, or control a single light in multiple ways, e.g. “Turn on”, then “Set colour to green”, then “Set brightness to 100%”.

Need some help with Key light Mini's. I have two and have had them for about 3 months or so. Every other day at least, one (sometimes both) disconnect from the WiFi. I have set static IP's, have installed an access point right next to them (incase it was a signal issue). Have tried just running one for a while but the problem persists. As you can see key light right is no longer connected even though it is currently turned on. Only way i can get it to reconnect is to either unplug the power from the light and reconnect it or restart the router (this option isn't viable every time it disconnects). Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m having trouble with turning on my key lights. It was working a while ago but now it says please launch control center but when I do control center just closes and it never connects to stream deck app

How tech savy are you? I had an issue like this, my solution was to open up the back by removing the screws under the circular pads. Unhooking the battery from the board and reconnecting it. elgato's solution was to RMA, but its really an easy fix.

Been having occasional issues with my Key Light not being detected by Control Center. It's happened two or three times. Each time I've turned off the Key Light using the switch on the back, then back on, and it's been successfully detected.

Noticed there was a firmware update for it this morning (surprised the app hadn't informed me of this) so applied it.

Anyone else seeing similar, or any suggestions?

agreed, but that is truly the only fix it know. I also made sure I have a great wifi signal, and nothing obstructing the wifi. Also, I rarely have to do this, as mine is like maybe once a month or 3 months.

does anyone know how to connect the Elgato Key light Minis to the control center? ive reset the wifi on the minis ive gone into network sharing on my computer gone in the properties of my wifi gone into advance on the configure tab and changed the value to 2.4hz 802.11b/g, tried it on my mobile phone just doesnt seem to wan to connect , they are showing up in my available networks, showing up in the elgato control panel add accesories, alows me to click on them and type in my wifi password, says connecting, the keyoght mini turns off and back on while connecting, then it says waiting for algato key light mini this can take upto 60 seconds, then gives up, ive restarted my wifi adapter, reset my network and nothing seems to work, just keeps comming back as connection failed

So the Application Control Center doesn't open anymore; thus no more access from StreamDeck. I reinstalled the application, I run it in administration but as soon as it opens, it closes by itself and I can't rightclick the logo because it disappear on the taskbar.

Is there a way of factory resetting a key light? Not wifi resetting, full hard reset? I can no longer get my key light to connect. I have wifi reset it 10+ times. It shows up in my wifi settings. Control Center sees it and says "do yo want to add this accessory" then it just hangs.

1. Press and hold the power switch for 10 seconds in the ‘II’ position until it blinks 3 times.

2. Release the power button and wait 5 seconds

3. Now turn on Key Light by setting the power button to the “I’ position

I have an issue with my Key Light. I have a full system reboot of my router and wifi everyday around 7am. Therefore my systems get down for around 5 minutes until dhcp server and wifi is back. The problem is that my Key Lights seems to not be able to recover from that. Sometimes the right one comes back and left not, sometimes otherwise. Therefore I lose app control. I normally have to go and turn it off/on manually to it reconnect. Is there any way to resolve it?

just a quick look but I'd say no, the MT is more like a projector screen from what I can tell. The floor one has more stuff on it. If you can't screw in to a wall or ceiling, you could check out the heavy duty command strips. They can hold up to 15ish lbs.

Then use the light api to change the lights.

@hazy shalestreamer.bot might have the solution that you are looking for. They have various integrations such as IFTTT and StreamDeck and are able to get events like redemptions from twitch.

although it is recommend to create the redemption from the streamer.bot so that the event has the correct ID and has all rights for the events

Question regarding the Key Light and the Flex Arm Large.
I currently have a desk mounted key light with my webcam attached to a Solid Arm. I would like to extend the solid arm and the light fixture and wanted to know if the Flex Arm can is strong enough to hold the Key Light itself. Hopefully that makes sense. I drew a terrible paint picture of what I'm trying to achieve.

I recently picked up two Key Light Minis, and I've noticed that even with the exact same settings, that one is just naturally brighter than the other. If I set them both to the lowest brightness, and slide the color temp all the way over to 2900K, one light is visibly darker than the other. Set at 5000K and the lowest brightness, it appears that the brighter one is also at a warmer color temp than the dimmer one.

Is it normal for these lights to be so noticeably different in color/temp?

@GagieTweets The weight limit varies since if you use the Flex Arm kit it would depend on how far extended the gear would be since it causes more torque on the system. It can support mirrorless and DSLRs but it will vary on how you set up the whole Multi Mount system!

Hey all. I have access to a recording studio recently renovated for lighting controls. We have a lighting system set up running through Magic Q, complete with a DMX box.

I have an elgato stream deck and I wanted to know if it was possible, through any plugins, twitch integration, programs, scripts, macros, etc., to have a certain number of bits control the hues of the lights. I've seen people do that before with Phillips Hue lights and whatnot, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if with the equipment I have and have access to, if it's possible to do the same.

For the initial testrun of this, I'll have to use the same machine as my main gaming rig doesn't have 2 NICs, but the lighting system does. So I'd have one ethernet cable for data/internet, and one ethernet to the lighting. And then, triggered through something bits send a command and extract text from the message to set lights to different hues, I was thinking hexcodes would be the best.

Anyone have a input on how to accomplish this? I spent a bit googling stuff but kept on getting half answers to my questions, and posted in the streamdeck server, but was directed here as a possible better place to ask.

If nothing else, a different DMX lighting control system/software that can accomplish this? I'm open to any ideas on this.

or to have the brightness of the lights be based on a song playing or something like that?

so far the best I can do is for a lightning effect by spamming a multi-action on/off with very small delays...which isnt great and is tedious to do since there is no mass copy/paste

I’ve had the same issue with two Ring Lights in a row (on MacOS and iOS):

1. Attempting to add Ring light fails on “Waiting for Ring light” in the wifi setup flow. 2-3 Reset cycles and it finishes successfully

2. Light intermittently loses connection and reconnect multiple times throughout the day,

3. Attempt to update firmware fails, and light no longer appears in Control Center

4. Attempting to Reset -> Setup fails every time. Have tried 10+ times.

After this happened with one Ring Light I turned it and same thing happened with second. I also have a Key Light which also fails to update firmware every time, but will then reconnect after a reset.

managed to acess on a hotspot this morning so i have atleast solved one issue which was i needed to set studio mode, but from what i have checked the only fix to my issue is to get the mac address and for some silly reason the app doesnt support giving that info? it onyly works via command prompt in windows so i'd already need acess?

It depends on what you’re trying to do. Are you trying to turn the lights on an Office, or are you trying to change the brightness from Bright to dim?

Color temps are more than just the lighting, it's a combination of what your set your camera's white balance (WB) to, as well as what you set your lights to. Do you want a cold blue? Set your camera WB temp a bit lower, and your lights color temp a bit higher, want it warm? set your camera WB to a bit higher and the lights to a bit warmer. Want a neutral white? set the camera WB and the light color temps the same.

If you are shooting in the daytime you have to adjust all of this to the color temp of the light coming in from your window(s).

Remember, the Camera White Balance is for the entire image, so try removing yourself from the camera's view and see what WB makes your background look great, and then use the lights to highlight yourself and fine a light color temp that makes you look good.

I spent over a decade working at an independent high end camera shop, I love photography and cinematography, I just hate editing. So I work really hard to get my lighting as perfect as possible before I start shooting. Makes my life much easier when i have to... ughh... sit down and edit.

So 2.4 band is a more constant internet stream. Less burdened by Wi-Fi barriers, 5.0 has a larger ability to go faster but in short distances and it is easily obstructed by walls, microwaves etc

I have a question HOW to connect the Air Key Light - and nowadays it seems like MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 🤫 😮 😭

1. I downloaded the desktop program and smartphone app
2. after that I reset the Air Key Light to have possibility to make any control.
3. Then I used the app and I found (added) the AKL at the smartphone.
4. After that I wanted to connect to the device, but it showed the "time out message" (I tried a few times)
5. What is the most funny - when I clicked "cancel" it connected to the device and I can have FULL control over it!
6. At the desktop program NO MATTER what I did I could not add the device (Air Key Light) as it shows random errors.

My questions is the following - when are you going to release the fixed version of the desktop app to make possible to have the control over Air Key Light - the same as I can have via the application? 😮

To be honest - nowadays this version of the desktop app is so bad that any consumer will quickly run away from your company (and products) guys! Change it ASAP if you do not want me to run away with them too 😭

Hi, I'm trying to setup my keylights. I connected them to my IoT WIFI network & can control them easily from the LAN when entering the specific IP.
How can i do the same in the IOS app so that i dont have to switch my phone to the IoT network to just turn the keylight on/off via phone?
So far i couldn't find the option to set a specific ip address within the IOS app...

Just to make sure there is no confusion... I'm basically just looking for a "Add IP manually" button on the IOS app as it is already present in the windows app.

@cunning steeple , You could also do a honeycomb filter on your face lighting with it just a little higher and it wouldn't illuminate your background as much. Someone made a formal product for it here: https://cutnetch.design/en-amn/products/honeycomb-grid-fur-keylight. If you don't have the official elgato keylights, you can also make your own. I made a set of them using Boba straws and it narrowed my lit spot to about 3x3 foot.

Planning to make a 3D printed version sometime.

I was aiming less for a dark background, but more for preventing color washout in my background.

A lut would probably help make my balance out my contrast better as well… Mine is mostly for work calls anyway at the moment 😆

Turns out, I am nearly that pale … I warmed up the keylights a little and it helped a smidge. I'll probably do some levels adjustments to get those blacks truer and the color lights a smidge more saturated.

I just looked at how it appears in Streamlabs, from whenever I was last thinking about setting a stream up and it doesn't appear to be as flat there. Can't remember if I did any color adjustments on the source or not.

Blacks seem blacker, skin might be a little too warm. I'll work through it again when I'm ready to actually do something with it. But the physical light filters do a good job of preventing the face lights from washing out the vivid color in the background

SAME Problem. I have all the things correct. I have tried both my mobile and my macbook. What's annoying is that it was working fine up until a month ago. I have two that used to work fine. I have two Key Lights. I have had issues in the past but always seemed to get them connected... not tonight. They were working fine up until about a month ago.
Network Setup:
Unifi Wifi magaged with a UDM Pro, with a dedicated 2.4Ghz only SSID to ONE AP.
All "auto" things have been cycled on and off and tested.

Troubleshooting steps:
Remember I have TWO Key Lights that used to work fine.

i have questions about the elgato key light mini. I'm thinking of getting it. Does it come with a mount for laptops? Thats what I wanna get it for, my laptop. Or do I have to buy something serparate to mount it on it?

Mounting accessories are not included in the box with the mini. It'll mount to a 1/4"-20 screw though, so it is compatible with most camera mounts, including some webcam stands that will fit on a laptop, or a tripod behind it if you need more stability, sicne laptop screens tend to wobble a bit at times.

Last time I mounted similar hardware I honestly went the tripod route. Since the lighting is generally in a fixed position, a set and forget sort of setup, and the light is only 300g, even a cheap $10-$15 tripod usually does a good job of holding it in place. Been a while since I've looked at webcam mounting though, so I've no real suggestions if you want to go that route though - I'd just look up 1/4" webcam stand. There's some "gooseneck" stands with the flex arm available these days too, as those got popular with people mounting cameras and the like.

Of course all the Elgato Mounting stuff will work with it as well. Though probably not what you're looking for if you need something that'll move with your laptop

If anyone with Key Lights not connecting to UniFi WiFi wants to know: to get your Key Lights to connect I found the setting that has to change. It’s the flipping SSID, your WiFi network name. The lights won’t join a WiFi network that has ANY special characters in the name, not even a simple “ “ (space). Apparently, Elgato would rather us change our network name and then go reconfigure every other device in order to control their product rather than push a firmware fix to allow the lights to join networks with something as simple as a “ “ (space) in the name. Come on Elgato. You have to do better. This has been an issue for at least three years by my research online. It’s time you fix it. ( @undone spruce )

Good to know. Probably a holdover from back when special characters weren't allowed in SSIDs. They still have restrictions in a lot of cases, but spaces should work as long as they're not at the start or end, iirc. And updated 802.11 standards I think cover all UTF-8. I'd suggest filing it as a bug report with support. http://e.lga.to/help

"right" is highly subjective, so just experiment and go with what you like. Typically speaking straight on flattens out dimensions so err on the side of lighting from angles.

Two in front of me, 45 angled on both sides of my desk to me

And then angled a little bit from above to hide a few pounds, but not too much otherwise you create racooon eyes

And then you add a light to the background to differentiate yourself from it

And optional is a catch light from above to accentuate your hair gloss

So the key light is your main light

Your fill light fills the shadows from the keylight

Your back light separates you from the background

And the background light is atmospheric

Hey I was looking to get a Key Light, but noticed that setup requires 2.4ghz wifi. If I have 5ghz, can I just momentarily switch to 2.4 for setting up a Key Light and then switch back when I'm done, or does my wifi need to stay on 2.4ghz in order to control the light?

If the that light has some sort of API, then it's certainly possible. But almost impossible to give you an answer just based on that. Some lights do have their own software and API which Stream Deck can tie into either using an existing plugin or by coding your own.

Not USB, but for instance Philips Hue has a whole app on its own that Stream Deck can control. Same for NanoLeaf.

I had it connect one time, and literally the day after I went to go turn it on via mobile app and it wasn’t showing up. I tried to reset it and connect it to WiFi again, it failed every time after that.

How stable is your WiFi there? It's worth noting that the Key Light air only works on the 2.4Ghz band - if your surrounding devices do both 2.4 and 5 (most do), it's easy enough to be in an area with the 2.4 band is congested, picking up interference, or just too weak. So many things run on 2.4 that it's possible to even see a good signal but it's too noisy to work reliably (security systems, cordless phones, bluetooth, microwaves, etc). In that case everything else will work perfectly fine, falling back to 5Ghz, but the KeyLight Air might get a spotty connection since it is stuck to 2.4 only. (this is one of the reasons the updated Key Light Mk2 that just came out now does 5Ghz as well).

Given your in same room as your modem/router, I'd not normally expect this unless there's something else on the 2.4 band overpowering it. Even moving it to the other side of the room for testing might be enough to see if you're stuck with a small deadspot though

Hey guys! I'm having a really weird connection issue over Tailscale (I know that's not supported, but the behaviour's odd so I'd like to see if I get a workaround going). Basically, my KeyLight Control Center works totally perfectly over Tailscale on my Android phone, but it doesn't work on my Windows PC whilst TS is connected. The main interesting symptom is that, even when TS is connected on the PC, the "Identify" command to the light's IP address works as intended, meaning that at the very least, there's a unidirectional route from the PC to the light. The issue also can't be that the Control Center commands don't work at all through a TS tunnel, as, as I said, my phone connection works fine.

So can anyone help explain why the "Identify" command would work, but the full connection times out?

The light and the PC are paired correctly, as all works fine when not on the VPN

I guess I'd like to understand the difference between the Android and Windows instances of control center, and the differences between the "Identify" packet and the packets sent over a fully-working connection. That might help me work with the Tailscale support devs to work out where the problem lies.

I had this same issue as well - what helped me was turning 5 GHz WiFi off and leaving only 2.4 GHz on. I have not tried turning 5 GHz on since then because my IoT Devices live on a separate WiFi and they are all 2.4 GHz anyway

I think you’re misunderstanding something, the keylight doesn’t have its own wifi, you use the Control Center app to connect to YOUR 2.4ghz wifi

I just bought two KeyLights, one was in a blue box and one was in a brown box. I now noticed one is MK.2 and one is apparently MK.1. What's the difference between the two? At the store they said "they're the exact same product" but apparently that's not true. Main difference is the Mk2 adds 5Ghz WiFi support, and works with the new Light Remote. Store may not have known the difference, was a pretty quiet and recent update.

I recently moved into a new apartment and am trying to set up my two Keylight Air lights to the new network. I've gotten as far as the "Setup Wi-Fi Configuration" page on the app but I can't seem to get my Wi-Fi to show up on the list of networks in the dropdown list. Yeah, just seeing this but that should be fine. Those ball mounts are standard across the Multi Mount setup - they just come apart with the twist knob there, you put them over the flat metal thing on the top of the pole and close them.

Hey Everybody since some days i have problems with my Elgato Ringlight, it "forgets" my Wifi-key.
So I have to reset the device and connect it new, 2 days ago this worked fine for me but today the ringlight is AGAIN disapeard in my control center, and even the reset does not work for me now...

i just reset the device, and tryed to connect with my iphone / Ipad to set die Wifi Key for my "normal" network. but it dosen't work.

What should i do now?

Hello, I have a question for how to make my lights "dance" when pressing a button on my stream deck and/or for when I get a donation on stream?

So just purchased a keylight from Amazon and got it today, package looked fine. Plugged in the prongs and tried it in 3 different outlets and still no powering on. Made sure all the plugs were plugged and secured and even held the reset.. Anyone else have this issue or just send it back to amazon?

You can use control app on a phone or the computer. But if the unit is powered on, clicking add device (or the plug) should set your device looking for the light.

If it doesn't show up this way, AND doesn't light up when you hold down reset for at least 5 seconds, I'd do an exchange. Either the unit or the AC adapter might have an issue if that's the case

Yeah, there's some sort of power issue with it likely then. That'll pretty much require an exchange I imagine, if you don't have a spare one around to borrow an adapter off of. You could try reaching out to #official-tech-support to confirm - but it doesn't light up, even on reset, and the wireless module in it doesn't appear to turn on. I'm pretty sure it'll need an exchange either way

Actually, you may want to try holding reset for 10 seconds as well

Some models apparently have a different count

But if you hold it int he reset position (Marked || on some versions) for 10 seconds and it doesn't blink that's usually a sign of power or hardware issues

Has anyone had issues with the control centre for windows? Mine stays visible for like 2 seconds then disappears in the background. I tried to uninstall and reinstall multiple times but nothing works. iOS app and Mac app work fine.

Do you have Windows display scaling on? I had this issue because my primary monitor was high res and I turned on Windows Display Scaling to something like 150% - the thing would pop up then go offscreen because it was trying to use the x,y coordinates it expected. Rebooting generally fixed it for me, but any time I changed the display scaling (which admittedly was rare), I'd have to reboot to fix it.

Have you already tried resetting the light first? Hold down the switch in the reset position for 10 seconds and it should blink 3 times, then switch it from reset to off and turn it back on.

Yeah I tried that, but also on the key light air, it only has the small reset button and the on/off switch. I hold the reset button but it never blinks showing that it reset.

Right sorry, I was thinking the rocker switch on the others. But yes, still same 10 seconds and then the light should blink three times. That light blinking is part of the self test, as much as it is an indicator the reset is underway. If you're not getting it, check there's power in the AC outlet, and that the barrel plug is pushed all the way in to tbe back of the unit. If nothing changes I would either reach out to #official-tech-support or exchange the unit wherever you purchased it.

As far as I recall a bridge is needed to connect those lights to your network, yes. While some of the newer ones also connect via Bluetooth, the remote control for a computer comes through the bridge, gnerally.

Are you mounting the camera on the ball mount that comes with the right light? That should be fairly easy to turn around. Ball mount goes into the ring light, camera goes on the ball mount

Basically attach the camera on the ball mount like this (camcorder and camera mount the same). If the camera is backwards, loosen the ball mount, adjust position and tighten it again via the knob on the mount.

hello. I have bought 2 Elgato Key Light Airs recently and are trying to set them up. i have downloaded the most recent version of the control centre on computer and my phone. however, when i put in the wifi password to connect to the lights on my PC, it almost instantly blue screens and crashes, every time. neither of them connect to my phone also. any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have WiFi on the computer, set them up first with the phone app to get them on your network - WiFi is required for the initial pairing to your network. Once they're on the network you an add them to the computer on a wired connection just fine.

What stage are you hitting issues with? Pairing? Are you pairing them with a phone or the PC? Is it a PC or mac?

I would reset the lights again to be safe - hold down the reset button on the back (in the little hole) for 10 seconds while powered on, until the light flashes. Once that's done, give it say 30 seconds to reboot and try adding it with the phone again to see if they show up.
If the PC is bluescreening, make sure you have the latest wireless drivers for your card, as it may be crashing when trying to switch wifi modes for the direct connection to the lights to start the pairing

Ah, sounds like you've got the process down then. What are the other models? The Ring Light supports 5Ghz Wifi while the original Mk1 Key Light and Key Light Air only do 2.4, which could cause you some trouble. You may need to specific a network band during the setup (that feature was added in Control Center 1.9 if you're not up to date)

Yes, they all connect through Elgato Control Center, which has a Stream Deck plugin. I've got a Ring Light hooked to my own setup, with both a Stream Deck button and Stream Deck+ dial assigned to it.

The light is Wireless only. 2.4 Ghz and 5.

I found it very easy to setup - but sometimes issues can crop up depending on your specific wireless setup. In most cases it's very easy. It does need a wireless device to set it up to get the lights on your network though, so if you're computer doesn't have WiFi do the first steps to get it onto the network with Control Center on your phone. Then set it up on the computer.

Do make sure you've got a desk that has space to install the mounting clamp though. I've seen a few folks trip up on that. Otherwise you may need something else to help mount it, like the Multi Mount Heavy Base

(it can also be mounted on just about any 1/4"-20 mount which includes most tripods)

They don't seem to mention the colour temp in there.
That said generally a more daylight balanced light works best for chroma key setup - say around 5000k. But it will differ for every setup so you may need to adjust from there. Likewise for light intensity - that will depend a lot on how things ar esetup, where the lights are, if there are any other light sources, etc. You're going to spend a good chunk of timing fine tuning a chroma key setup to get the best options for your setup. So follow the video Vic linked and go from there, adjusting things as needed

Uh, I've stepped away from the computer for a moment, but you should be able to set it up with the Stream Deck Plugin and when setting actions there's a drop down to choose which of your two lights to use

You could even copy your existing buttons for the first light then just change the light selection on the second button

So just add the actions from Control Center's plugin and select the light in the drop down like this

Hi,

trying to connect elgato keylight mini to control centre app for android

i open settings, choose add acessory, i see key light mini on the list the choose it

after this i choose connect and i get notified taht "control centre will use a temporary wifi network to connec to the device" - then i choose connect

i then get the error "wifi connection lost"

unsuprisingly this is because control centre has disconnected my wifi network that carries the internet connection

i am stuck in this loop

how do i successfully add this to the app/my network please and get out of this loop?

(phone is up to date, keylight has been reset etc)

That is correct behaviour - it disconnects your wifi because it switches to the wifi built into the Keylight to set it up.
