#capture-cards

Do you have wave link software?
yes i have stream mix set to my capture card on gaming pc
i only have it on my gaming pc do i need wave link software on both
i have it set up in the past and doesnt want to work Atm
yh i dont want to use the pass thorugh bc it doesnt support 240hz? but is there any point of me using the capture card then
i only wanna use the hd60s to record without if affecting my peformance bc im ps obs will affect my peformance more than the hd60
I have to toggle the stream mix one time per boot of the stream pc off and back on to capture card to get it to initialize the audio and start picking up in OBS.
Did you ever change the capture card to Analog audio mode to work with an aux cable or Chat Link? If so it woudl need to be flipped back.
You may also have to check in Windows sound settings to make sure it didn't mute or turn down the card on the streaming PC in error. It's rare but I've seen that crop up when the card gets moved to a different port, or sometimes after Windows updates.
Is this a Dual PC setup? Capture cards only offer performance benefits if you're using a second PC for the video capture and encoding, on a single PC there's no benefit compared to something like OBS Game Capture.
If it is a Dual PC setup you can set things up to have the capture card go to it's own GPU port and clone your screen to it with Windows display settings, so your GPU handles the different refresh rates between the monitor and card. (If it's a console this isn't an option and you'd want to upgrade to a card with a higher refresh rate in passthrough)
are you sure? bc it uses the hd60s encoder and not the gpus giving me better peformance?
That encoder doesn't work like a GPU encoder
it is dual pc btw
It's from the early days of encoding, and only works with the old Game Capture HD app
Dual PC is fine - you'll be using the second PC for the encoding there
takes the load off the gaming PC
but then are you forced to use the monitor pass through?
No, like I said above you can setup a cloned setup
Assuming you have a free HDMI port on the GPU for the capture card
how would that work
If it is a Dual PC setup you can set things up to have the capture card go to it's own GPU port and clone your screen to it with Windows display settings, so your GPU handles the different refresh rates between the monitor and card.
explain more
Basically just plug the card into the GPU, and use Windows Display settings to duplicate your main monitor to the card
yes
then after that?
That's it. It should now be going to the streaming PC you have the capture card connected to.
ALRIGHT
Hi! I would like some help in regards with my capture card please. š¤§
I currently own the Elgato Capture Card HD60 S+. Iām currently using a dual setup with two towers and 2 PlayStations on this setup as of now.
Before this setup, I used a Dell laptop for streaming purposes and a tower, that is focused for gaming. This setup with the capture card worked perfectly. Until my laptop was not handling enough, I made the decision to jump into buying another tower (PC) that will focus on streaming. As soon as I setup this new tower for streaming, I plugged the capture card in and it worked for a while!
My current issue right now is that everything works fine and dandy at a good period amount of time, maybe 30 minutes and it shuts down to becoming a black screen. I constantly deactivate and reactivate through OBS and thereās no use. It takes a while to have it back up & running unless I force close my OBS and open my 4K Utility app to reset. Or if I have to plug and unplug. But this is not ideal for a smooth stream.
Please, is there a way to fix this? š
hi, all these new AM5 boards seem to have two USB 4.0 slots (total 40gbps?) - would two 4K X devices be the max I could connect to them for UHD inputs?
Seems like upgrading to AM5 means I need to ditch my internal quad HDMI 4k card - so trying to figure out if I can just connect a bunch of 4K X's
idk, i woudln't ditch it, as it may be compatible, unless you want to go that route.
Ah, I just mean that if I use the 2nd PCIE slot on most of these boards, it takes resources from either M.2. slots or the other PCIE
figured it might be safer to just see if I can get 5 4k inputs in via USB
if the board is capable, sure but where the usb lines are remember that power is shared with other ports as well.
I tried disabling my sidetone from corsair icue and that didn't seem to help. It's still doing it even if i mute the headset in icue, or with my mute button
ahh, I wonder if there's a way for me to supplement power in between the PC and the Elgato
Like an external egpu chassis? Iāve seen it done with a cap capture card.
Hey everyone
Im in desperate need of help
I set up my 4K X capturee card and connected it to my PC and PS5
My ps5 gameplay was showing up on the game capture application on my PC
I disabled HDCP on my PS5 forit to work
Its still disabled however the 4K X application is saying no game captures detected when i turn on my ps5
How do i fix this. Its so frustrating because it was working before and now its not for no reason at all
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated
Is there any light on on your capture card when it's plugged in?
If not check the cables and USB port
anyone has a video explaining how to use dual pc for streaming with elgato hd60s
What is it blocking?
I had to google that first bit since you didn't share any context. https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/9482241809805-Issues-with-Valorant-and-Elgato-Capture-Devices
As it says this affects the DirectShow cards, so the internal series. All the newer external ones are UVC and shouldn't hit this, if it's something that's still in placee
I have the 4K Pro with 2 PCs. Everything works seamlessly. Except for league of legends. Anytime I load into a game, my gaming PC freezes and I have to hold the power button to reset it. Can't find anything on the internet about this issue.
Which PC freezes, the gaming PC I assume? Did you connect the card via display cloning or via passthrough (GPU to HDMI In on capture card, HDMI out to monitor)?
Gaming pc freezes. On gaming PC, I connect HDMI out on the gpu to hdmi in, on the elgato on streaming pc. For my gaming display, I use display port out on the gpu to my main monitor
You might be running into an issue where you're cloning the display then - are you running the game in borderless windowed or fullscreen? Typically Borderless windowed works better with a cloneed setup like that
Seems like it should be fine - looks like you set the EDID to 1080p previously?
Looks solid. So did trying it Borderless in the game's video settings not help?
No it still crashes my whole PC. I'm running 240fps cap and Borderless in league. Might try to mess around with uncapped and see if it changes anything
I just don't understand. League is the ONLY game that does this
Might be worth checking with Riot support too, in case it's a known issue with multi monitor setups (since to thee gaming PC the capture card is just another monitor)
GPU driver update might be wortha shot too
Maybe switch to the Studio driver if you're using the Game Ready one, or vice versa
I see a scattered post indicating leage might do this if VRR is on too, but those are old posts, not sure how accurate they are
I don't even have the VRR option in windows, but I do have GSYNC disabled
wait I was wrong, I have it enabled. i will try disabling it
still no VRR option
My capture card keep freezing my gaming pc but when I unplug it. It unfreeze what is happening?
Any chance you're also playing League when it happens?
No
What are you doing when it locks up?
So I was in my display setting on my gaming pc trying to get my monitor up to the max hz but I didnāt realize I was on the Elgato tab in display and put it to 240hz. And now every time I plugged it in it freezes
ah. I'm actually ssurprised tha trips it up sicne the card just shows up as another monitor
If you press Windows Key + Ctrl +Shift + B, does it reset the display and unlock? If not I'd probably reboot the PC in safe mode to set the refresh rate back
The display reset didnāt work Iām doing safe mode now, which one do I click to reset?
Startup settings if I recall
Should eitheer give you a menu of safe mode options or reboot to a menu with them - been a while since I've been in there honestly.
do we know what the power draw of the external 4K X is? trying to see if I could get 4 to work at the same time on an ASRock Tachi X870E
Yeah it said hit a certain number to enable safe mode. Which one do I click
4, for the normal safe mode
5 is fine too
You only reeally want to get into there to reset the display settings - most options for the display may not even be visible in safe mode, but you'll be able to set them low so you can reboot back into normal windows and set things normally
Ok Iām in it but itās showing only 1 display and itās not my elgato
Is the capture card still plugged in?
If so try unplugging the main display a moment to switch it over.
It might not drive multii displays in some safe mode setups
Capture card is plugged in and I unplugged my other monitor and still only shows 1
Ah, this is multi monitor plus capture card is it?
Yeah
I'd turn on the capture softwaree on the streameing PC and unplug all the other monitors besides the capture card
Change the refresh rate to something like 60, where you set it to 240 eaerlier, then shut down and put all the montiors back and reboot
Noramlly that should get it to save at the new refresh rate so you can get back into Windows normally while it's connected and change anything else that needs changing
And this is all on the elgato capture software right?
You're looking a thte gaming PC through that software right? You're trying to change that setting in Windows on the gaming PC
Oh that, its tell me I have no signal from my capture card
ah
Have a HDMI display you can connect in the HDMI out of the card to see if it's just an incomaptible signal coming through? Safe mode on some systems may drop the signal lower than what the ecapture card can render
So plug in a the hdmi into the OUT on the card instead of the IN?
Oh I see so keep the hdmi IN in the card and have a monitor hdmi and plug it into the OUT on the card?
Yes
if there's any signal going through at all it should pass through to the monitor then
If it doesn't just reboot the PC and hope the graphics settings reset by accessing it in Safe mode
okay so ive tweaked some things. league loads, but if i alt tab it crashes and my whole PC freezes
Still no signal and ok Iāll try that
I thinks itās fix now thank you
Glad to hear it
What even is league as this point? D:
Can you disconnect the captrue card for a moment, and try alt tabbing with only the one monitor connected?
done, it doesnt crash
im testing something now, in task manager checking the Disable fullscreen optimization.
gonna see if it stops the frezzing
Now Iām not getting any audio through to my streaming pc š
That's fine, safe mode might have reset something. How were you sending it over there before? Sending all the audio via HDMI or using something like Sound Capture, Wave Link or Voicemeeter to split it to the HDMI?
Voicemeeter
Yeah, make sure Windows default audio device is still pointing to the Voicemeeter virtual cablee. If it is check that Voicemeeter is pointint to the right outputs in the hardware output section
ok not sure what i was pressing but now it works , thanks for all your help dawg
Glad you got it sorted out
Sadly I've not run into this before - but I also haven't touched league since the original alpha. I know Riot's anti cheat interferes with a lot of stuff. This was a multi monitor setup right? If you disocnnect the cpature card and clone the two monitors does it still crash?
ive since found out, when my PC freezes I can simply unplug the display port cable from the monitor, plug it back in and it unfreezes
the league curser is being used when i alt tab back into firefox
i have it cropped bc personal info
but i feel like this is part of the problem
i wonder what is causing this
well found a problem never seen before. start up HD60 and Game capture HD and within a few mins it crashes
this is a new thing never seen before. however. it does it only on my older laptop i got but not my newer one.
got video of it as well
Iām just gonna try really hard to not alt tab while playing league but Iām stuck with this issue for now
hi so im having a bit of trouble
i recently moved from streaming off of my mac to my pc, and with that my capture card wont pick up signal to my tv, and when it does it works with no issue for about 15 or so minutes and then the video cuts out. there is a blinking red light on the card as well, which i cant seem to find a reason as to why its not working
which card, and what settings are you using.
if you don't mind me asking what's the reason for alt+tabbing?
hd60x
are the drivers updated?
and what settings am i looking for? the issue seemed to fix itself but im hoping it doesnt come back
do you have any pending windows updates?
are you using OBS?
yes
yes to what no to what?
I have a video in #1291136160676188172 that might help
everything is updated.
it also updated again just a few hours ago and yet to check if that changed anything. will know in a bit
ur fine and its because i look at builds and guides during my league matches
on firefox
Thanks for sharing, try borderless. See if that fixes it.
updated my laptop and nothing changed. still crashes
Hello, i just ordered a capture card neo. Can i use a Chat link cable with that?
Chat Link will not work with Neo directly as it doesn't have a Line In audio jack like the other external cards - but if your computer has a Audio Line In jack (usually a blue jack on the sound card/motherboard), you can use that in it's place.
Hi there, struggling to capture audio from my playstation 5 to OBS... the gameplay image is fine, just no audio... (not really sure where to begin)
I've got the HD 60 X
hey dude! have you had a nose over this and chekced the vods? https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/5329003032973-Elgato-Game-Capture-HD60-X-PlayStation-5-Setup
If it's working, leave it at merged. If it's not working, try display, and if that doesn't work Internal. The options are only meant to be used when the default ones aren't working
Do you have a headset connected to the PS5 by any chance? That mutes the HDMI audio feed and may require a product like Chat Link Pro to get the feed from a wired headset instead. It's one of the most common issues.
Other than that check the PS5 is set for Linar PCM audio. It would help to know what app you're using, and if you're on mac or Wwinidows as well
Still in place sadly.
@past basin would it be possible to see my settings on my twitch channel twitch.tv/wonderfpstv
I have a wireless headset linked to my PS5 right now, would that affect anything?
what hdmi switch can i use for the hd60x
do you have any i could buy off amazon
preferably one that supports 4k 120hz
Yes - if a wireless headset is attached the HDMI audio feed going to the capture card will get disabled by the PS5. To confirm, disconnect the headset and see if the audio works
i'm having to plug hdmi cables for now which is not ideal but i don't have a choice
4K120 requires HDMI 2.1 - HD60 X is a HDMI 2.0 card and will cap at 4K60. If you're not planning to upgrade to a HDMI 2.1 card like 4K X in the future, that'd be overkill.
Personally I'm using a little Kinivo B550N with my HD60 X.
I've never actually tried tbh. That's within the HDMI 2.0 spec though - I do have a monitor capable of that so I can try it after work maybe
Switch shouldn't add noticeable input delay - any delay it adds would generally be under 3ms. There's still slight video latency on the capture card though, if you're not using the HDMI out to a monitor for passthrough
oh dang yeah i need something that's lag free
the hdmi switcher i had was good as it didn't have any delay
let me know how you go if you test it after work tho
@past basin still doesn't seem to work, i might have to call you guys later
i am live on twich now, if u wanna see my settings
If you're looking to call the official support instead of the community support. #official-tech-support has the link that will also have the number.
I'm tied up in a meeting at the moment so won't be able to check for a little bit
ok no problem, many thanks anyway
What headset were you using with the PS5 specifically though? Also if it has any kind of USB dongle it would need to be removed to get the console to switch back to HDMI audio for the capture card
um it was the turtle beach 700 (newest ones)
and yeah i removed the dongle as well...
i tried without headset, with analogue headset... nothing seems to capture the audio
If you check the PS5 sound settings does the Audio Output shot it's set to HDMI?
yes tried that
Analog headset would need a Chat Link to split it off, you'd want pure HDMI to make sure this is the only problem
i also have a chat link cable...
nothing seemed to come through with that plugged in either
Oh, if you have a Chat Link cable, go into 4K Capture Utility, in the settings and under the device section set it to Analog audio
The card won't switch to the analog jack on it's own
hmm ok
The Audio Input there is what you're looking for
Whie you're using Chat Link this PS5 sound setting should be Controller Headset as well
Can you use the hd60s to just record without the monitor pass through
Yes
Alr
I found someone with the same issue as me. Still no fix :/
I thought it was your gaming PC, not the streaming PC that was freezing up?
Help Requested. My Game Capture 4K Pro Mk2 card captures HDR video just fine but ANY/ALL FFMPEG based editors crash when I try to trim the start of the video. Sometimes it blue screens and reboots my PC. Even ffmpeg command line will crash with a libx265 buffer overflow error when doing nothing other than trimming start frame. 4k capture util says I have latest s/w and firmware. Out of ideas
I have a question for you, what program are you using? What editor are you using?
Well, Iām reading that this is in full screen, try borderless
Hello I need some help i have the "Elgato HD60X" And im attempting to use my IOS AV Adapter Hdmi to stream my ios device onto the 4K capture utility app and no matter what i do or what setting i use i seem to not be able to get it to work ive searched on youtube reddit and even quora and no help is there anyone that knows how to fix this ? (edit: if someone does help me be sure to tag me for i do not have notifications on and need a @ for me to know someone helped me Thank you so much in advance and sorry i dont know how to do punctuation im still learning its a long story)
i can definately say that changing the edid to internal made a big difference visually for the xbox series X
and i can now do 120hz too
Glad you got it sorted out
Hello, I just bought a Game Capture NEO
I have spent the last 2 hours trying to get picture to work on my M4 Mac Mini
I have tried using an OLED Nintendo Switch and a Nintendo GameCube with an AV to HDMI adapter, and I am getting absolutely no picture coming to my Mac, but the HDMI OUT seems to give my picture separately to my monitor
The only picture I am getting is an Elgato logo that says āNo signalā, and it flickers for a second when I turn on my Nintendo Switch in docked mode
I have changed the EDID 3 different times with no luck on anything
I have used 2 different USB-C and Thunderbolt ports, the light keeps flickering on the machine and rewired my HDMI setup on my monitor and my devices muitiple different times. Any help is greatly appreciated
I am not sure if my unit has a defect, since I got no way of knowing.
i have a question, is it ok to leave the resolution on automatic in ps5 settings? will it be ok for the elgato? i launched spiderman before and it kinda did the resolution too big before correctly switching from 4k to 1440p just wondering is all
so far it's only done it once but otherwise everythings working fine
Quick question, why is my refresh rate running off my elgato and not my monitor? My monitor is 240 hz and its only giving the rate of the elgato and in Invidia Control Panel is 240 hz and advanced display settings is 240 hz aswell
the elgato bottlenecks the signal at what ever it can support
If you're using a cloned setup and not passthrouh make sure you cloned the monitor to the capture card and not the capture card to the monitor. Windows will squash the refresh rate to the capture cards if it iss the primary display
whats wrong with the program and drivers now I had a i9 9900k and i upgraded to a 9700x windows now hates elgato and this weird laggy issue
dose anyone know how to fix the black screen on the capture card utility app on windows all I can hear is the sound and no picture, I've tried everything uninstall and reinstall the 4k driver and the app I restarted the pc as well and its not fix at all
What capture card is this, and what firmware version is it running?
4k X
What card are you using, what applications are you using it with (4K Capture Utility, Game Capture HD, Other)? Iss this a mac or Windows setup
MCU: 24.05.31
Ah I hadn't gotten to yours yet, but that's part of what we need
Windows or macOS? And is the card directly connected to a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port?
windows
Also is there a monitor or TV in the HDMI out, and if so does it get a picture?
Yeah, I got that problem, but there's a number of causes so it needss a lot of info
Is there anything in the HDMI out of the capture card?
yes
And does that havee signal?
yes but no picture
show your setting in the app please
If passthrough doesnāt have picture either, maybe the next step is connect directly to the monitor to confirm there is actually picture being sent
mine was on merge
here you go
trying changing to input to merge and edid back to default and only change the format to 4k
I got p off with my og capture card so I uninstalled my drivers so I cant look at my app
nothing still the same
Does anyone know if you are supposed to put the 4k60 pro into ur gaming pcs pcie slot or your streaming pcs pcie slot
Does it capture the pc it is inside of?
?
well if you are using the capture to pc it would be gpu to input on capture
@past basin heyo pinging you since i always liked your replies onto my questions in the past - do you think the CamLink 4k works on the same pc when i play Valorant due to the DirectShow thingy?
i have the pro built in but it gets disabled when i start a riotgames game xd
Which pc?
gaming to capture card
Capture cards receive an HDMI feed and capture that into an app.
So they go in the streaming pc since they receive a copy of the screen from the game pc.
Sorry my Internet dropped out looks like my last reply didn't go through - on the phone there. Are you trying to capture a PS5 or PS4 by any chance, and if so did you disable HDCP in the video settings?
I believe UVC based cards like Cam Link 4K and HD60 X should be unaffected by that issue
Thanks!
Thank you!
Can anyone tell me if this is the newer or older model for the 4k pro?
Anyone gift me iPhone plzz ?
One thing I wish they would change actually 2 if You install the 4K utility install the drivers for the device like somehow it would know what driver to get. 2 if you remove the program remove all files that it downloaded. But does anyone have a 9700 X and have they turned off memory integrity or do I need to wait for a patch to come out
Whats the difference between the 4k60 pro and the 4k60 pro m.k. 2?
I have no clue
HDR and VRR support mostly. As well as the newer one is smaller and supports use by more than one app at a time. Then there's the newer 4K Pro that adds HDMI 2.1 support
It SHOULD install the drivers with 4K Capture Utility generally - though they're still available for download separately too. It also shouldn't be downloading anything after installation except the updates to the next version
So the 4k pro is the best current model?
Also thank you for the clarification
Yes, for the internal lineup. For USB ones, 4K X is the flagship.
4K Pro has HDR at all supported resolutions and can pass though an 8K signal, but 4K X can capture 4 K Video at a higher refresh rate (in SDR) up to 4K144 thanks to MJPEG support
Interesting thank you! So the advantage of internal is the hdr is supported on all resolutions but the external has an advantage of having higher framerate capture
Yes, 4K Pro has to step down the capture resolution of you go above 60Hz at 4K (though it can still pass though something like 4K120)
mine doesnt i have always had to get the drivers
Do you have an older model card? This might also have changed in recent versions - it's been a while since I checked
I know the HD60 S driver doesn't seem to come with it anymore
Gotcha that makes sense, tbh im not sure if i should shoot for the external or internal at this point. I have a dual pc setup and i want to stream in 4k to my streaming pc from my gaming pc
@past basin this has also happen to me and windows or elgato wants me to turn off memory Integrity
If you don't have a PCIe slot free with x4 lanes available, go for the external. The external works best if you have a 10 Gbps USB port, but will work with a few modes removed on a 5 Gbps one
ya I got the og 4kpro I dont know the model number
You mean 4K60 Pro? The 4K Pro is the newest one from this year - no longer capped at 60Hz in 4K so they dropped the 60
June 12, 2018
If you have the OG 4K60 Pro make sure Variable Refresh Rate and HDR are off on your PS5 as they can result in strange effects on cards that don't support it
dont have any of that and I only switch mobo
Ah, I saw the PS5 on the attachment you replied to and assumed it was similar. When you say Elgato wants you to turn off memory integrity, do you mean Elgato support? If so I'd test that
Possibly also try disabling memory overclocks like XMP on the motherboard if you're having memory issues resulting in corrupted video
Im not sure if this motherboard does have an extra 4 lane pcie
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09BGWJD3C/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
MSI motherboards let you manage speeds and temperatures for all your system and CPU fans. Total Fan Control allows you check your primary system characteristics in a simplified graphical interface. You can also set up to 4 temperature targets for CPU and motherboard, which will adjust the fan spe...
It definitely has 2 pcie idk if both are 4.0 tho or 4 lane
nope when I went to install the hardware drivers it wanted me to disable the memory Integrity and no xmp is off my 9700x didnt like it on and had to pull the battery from mobo just to work again
The second one seems to have 4 lanes according to the manual - just make sure it's not physically blocked off by your GPU and it should be good
Did turning the Windows Memory Integrity feature off help?
I have a 3090 founders edition in there and its just barely above the 2nd slot
It technically isnt blocking it but it might touch
Also I really appreciate your help thank you so much for ur time
Hmm, tough call - would it block the GPU airflow for cooling? That could be an issue too
If they're that close
Idk if this is a good picture
But its pretty close
That's a bit closer than I'd like. You can probably get away with it - but if you can a 10 Gbps USB port I'd go with the 4K X instead
Are those the red usb ports?
I have blue ones and then red ones which are supposedly faster
Red is usually power indicator, key me check the manual on that board again
In the meantime, if you need to capture in HDR (not just pass it though to a TV and capture in SDR) check the chart here to see what modes 4K X can do https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/23479175821069-Elgato-Game-Capture-4K-X-Supported-Resolutions-and-Frame-Rates
The type C port on the back of it is 10 Gbps
Could you use type c for this card?
Yes, it actually ships with a type-c to c cable
Oh thats awesome, i guess its just a matter of picking external or internal now
Do they both allow multiple applications to select the card?
Like for example can i select it in obs and a seperate application at the same time?
Only the internal one has multi app support
That might need to be the choice then, i do stream with obs and another program and have been using obs virtual camera
To get it to the other program
Yeah - seems like a deciding factor. I'd start there and if it doesn't work return it for the other one
You can kinda do that with the external USB cards with third party multicam apps, that take the one feed and split it into virtual cameras, but you lose some direct control of options
Does you think id be blocking the airflow of the graphics card too much? My 3090 does run hot
It's hard to tell without trying to be honest
And will partly depend on how hard you're driving the fans already
My case fans are maxed out
But the gpu is factory default
7 case fans plus 3 more from the AIO cooler
You'd be concerned only with the GPU one
Since that's the one that would be partly blocked
Yeah I got to install the drivers for the capture card to work but the lagging was happening after the install never had the issue before
Not as bad as I thought it was going to be
First time seeing a sticker fall off it, but it should hopefully go back on fine if you want it to
(4K PRO with PS5 PRO) I see a difference between the broadcast screen and the gaming screen in terms of color and image clarity.
Is HDR on?
yes
no
This might be why the colors arenāt matching up. Do a recording to see if the video is in SDR based off settings or HDR.
ok i will do it
does it have to be on it?
Also for audio do you need to select the capture card to transfer ur audio to it?
Is there a way to select two sound outputs?
From what I can see the colors look like theyāre matching now
from streamlabs OBS
from streamlabs OBS on windows 11
I can help you cover more on the HDR stuff when I get out of work after the gym so give me until maybe 730 to 8 oāclock CST
If not, Iāll be available tomorrow after 6 PM CST
thank you
tyt
I need some help troubleshooting / configuring My Setup . I use a steam deck with a Elgato 4k X on mac
Is this is the right thread?
Is there anyway to get audio to ur capture card without selecting it in the sound settings?
I want the sound to go to my headphones instead
I'm avail
for the 4K X yes, but stream deck is in #stream-deck however i could help.
I was refering to the āsteam Deckā console not the stream deck. Can you still help in my case?
oh yeah. lol
so what are you encoutering that's causing issues?
are you trying to record HDR or only game in HDR and capture in SDR?
The problem that I'm having is when I'm using the 4K, Elgato capture software. Whenever I use the steam decks official dock and all of the included cables from my 4KX. the output resolution is stuck out 480 P and the game sounds come only from the steam deck. So what happens is I'll be able to. open O. B. S. Studio. and get a video signal that I could use for live streaming, but ultimately the resolution is very low. For example I want to target 1080p. and of course the sounds are not being captured through the capture card. Do you suggest special settings or anything else? I've been racking my brain for two weeks and I can't figure this out myself.
@warped ledge
I'll be honest, i sold my Steam Deck, but I was able to achieve 1440p 60
As for the Output settings, and Sound, there is a menu option you have to chnage in Steam Deck.
It shouldn't be stuck at 480p
Because I don't have one on hand, can you screen shot the menu, and I'll navigate
i think the menu is like this (Navigate to Settings > Display. Comb through your Steam Deck settings until you reach the Display subsection. Set your preferred resolution)
for the audio (navigate to Steam > Settings > Audio and ensure the correct output device is selected, such as your built-in speakers, headphones plugged into the 3.5mm jack, or an external device connected via USB-C or Bluetooth; also, check that the volume is not muted and is set to a reasonable level.) also make sure it's default as that internal default should pass through to the capture card.
I recall it's the default speakers
game in HDR and capture in SDR
that's easy enough, your monitors will need to have HDR turned on, but yoru Settings in Streamlabs needs to be in SDR.
how change it to SDR
the settings for capturing in the properties should be similar
max 60 FPS or Highest FPS
it's same not change any thing
Highest! š
do a test recording and see if it's in SDR
i will
I don't download files, but can you make a viewable clip?
Looks normal in SDR
yah is good
so you good?
maybe the monitor is the issue
yah thank you
the monitors need to be in HDR if you're gaming in HDR, you can turn off HDR, and disbale HDR on the capture card, and your console and everythign would be SDR
you're recording is fine.
it's really preferance now.
in live it will be like the video
thanks
correct, cause SDR is being captured, not HDR
got it
Okay iāll dm it tomorrow
Are there any recommended settings for using the 4k pro for 4k recording/streaming?
Sorry, my Internet was out so I wasn't getting pings. Sticker probably doesn't have to be on it, no. For the audio you can use an app like Wave Link, Voicemeeter, or Sound Capture too split the audio on your gaming PC so you can send one copy ot your headphones and one to your streaming PC.
If you don't need the mic from the gaming PC going to the streaming PC, the Sound Capture app (included with Game Capture HD's download), is the easiest to configure - you just run it, it sets itself as the default sound device, you set it to PC mode, and then you select your headset and the capture card/hdmi as outputs. You can get it from here and install it on the gaming PC https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027964072-Elgato-Game-Capture-HD-Software-Release-Notes-Windows
Thank you so much!
That was very helpful!
Yo I bought an internal capture card for a dual pc stream setup.
The stream pc mobo sadly doesnt have a free PCIe slot.
Is there any kind of dual pc setup that involves plugging the capture card into the gaming pc or am I better off returning the internal card and getting an external?
There is no point to a capture card if itās on the same PC. The encoding still happens using the pc processing power.
You need a usb capture card.
Yeah I thought it might be a dumb question but I was praying there was some option thanks tho mate for answering
Right like if the card itself was doing the encoding, maybe.
But any modern GPU does this part almost for free, so itās actually the scene compositing in OBS that is mostly the load on a computer. (For most people)
I had that same question when I first came to this.
Like⦠why donāt the capture cards encode?ā¦
Yeah lmao exactly thanks man for clearing that up
Iām on time restraints so I canāt really re order
And I guess they sort of do, partially, in some modes.
But that doesnāt solve the problem because you have to composite the scene with all the sources. And encode that.
Which is generally what hardware encoders on GPU are for.
Will this work to let me plug the capture card into a PCIe x2 slot and then carry the process on as normal
A weird workaround but I think it will save me having to return and reorder stuff
Plus I still get the benefits of an internal capture card
Oh itās just that you canāt reach the slot because itās blocked?
I can but itās a cheap mobo it has only a 16 and 2 2ās
So no slot for the capture card
If the card will be ok with PCIe x1
So, I think that would work if you can mount it.
You donāt need it to be a full length slot.
The new plan is to try make the adapter allow me to plug the capture card straight into mobo
Just to confirm that capture card can plug into a pcie x16 right
Oh yes,
Hi Elgato Team,
I have a question about using the Elgato Game Capture HD60X with my GoPro Hero 11. Iām experiencing significant delay while using the GoPro as a webcam (USB-C to GoPro, USB to computer). I purchased the HD60X hoping to reduce the latency and ensure smooth performance in applications like OBS.
Could you assist me with this? What USB-C to HDMI cable do I need to properly set up the devices? Will this configuration help reduce the delay?
Thank you in advance for your support!
GoPro has their own app/driver that makes their cameras work as a web cam.
Capture cards are made to work with hdmi so unless youāre feeding it native hdmi, I wouldnāt expect it to work that way.
If you have a GoPro Hero 11 to use it with a capture card you're going to need the GoPro Media Mod for your camera - there's no HDMI output without it. You'll also need a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable. Once you have both of those it should connect directly to the HD60 X's HDMI input.
I'm not familiar with how much latency is on the Media Mod output, so I couldn't comment on if it'll improve latency or not. Some cameras are lower latency on HDMI output then USB, but not all of them.
Had a problem with my HD60x starting today
my game audio just wont play
i normally have it coming through windows with listen to device
it today it wont work any ideas?
Windows sometimes resets this setting, like when a driver updates, or windows updates.
Did you check that listen to this device is still set?
yes it is set
ive checked everything and the audio is just not coming through
im gonna restart my pc
Hi everybody, I just got the HD60X capture card, to use for streaming, and I got everything working, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to hear the game sound through my headset. It comes through on OBS, but not the headset. Not sure if it's something to do with the capture card or not
Did you turn on Audio Monitoring in OBS? In the advanced audio settings (either the edit menu, or the gear on your audio panel) the card needs to be set to Monitor & Output. By default OBS adds things with monitoring off in case you already hear it. Audio Monitoring is the audio you hear, output goes to stream or recordings
That's what it was!! Thank you so much :DDDD
No problem, glad you've got it sorted!
Hey guys! I have a HD60S capturecard that i have mainly been using to stream nintendo switch games. Ive been trying to play some PS5 on it recently, but im having something that feels like input delay on my monitor (yes, im using the HDMI on the monitor, not the preview). I know the HD60S is getting kinda old, and i wonder if i should get a newer one for PS5 or if its not needed? Any of you got any ideas?š
Future proofing never hurts, if the budget allows it. This card is going to have a delay. I believe it is between one to 2.5 secs. Depending on the game that you play. Now if youāre using a TV or another monitor connected to out, I would recommend playing off of that versus using the software as preview.
That would really not trouble your needs during a delay
Gotcha! I think what im noticing as a "delay" is the 120hz im used to using ps5 without the capture card, and afaik (after googling) this card doesnt support 120hz passthrough(?). I dont know if i understood it correctly, but the HD60X is on sale here in Norway rn, so i might actually go for that one if it features 120hz passthrough
Thatās correct this card doesnāt allow pass-through but the HD 60 X definitely does!
Can the 4K X capture the gameplay of an iPhone 15 Pro Max? I tried to this morning but it gave me the āno signalā error with Elgato written under.
I think only native usb c apple devices. Pretty sure.
Hmm š¤ I have the WavLink USB C Hub,10-in-1 USB C Adapter with 4K HDMI Portā¦would that work?
No, the port on the phone is not sufficient
ā¦for the 4K X I presume?
Iām at the edge of my knowledge on this, but I am pretty sure itās about the data rate on the port.
USB c iPhones and iPads can be used with capture cards.
They need the adapter that meets the spec requirements.
Im trying to capture my iPhone 15 Pro Max with the 4K X while my recorder is a Handheld PC
Hi
I have 2 docks, one for the handheld and one for the phone. But it seems that I need an adapter for my phone to be captured from the 4K X
can your handlheld handle the capture card?
It has windows 11, it is the ROG Ally X
does it me the required specs for the capture card though. there is a certain power bandwidth 3.2 usb needed
min 5gb speed
I will tell you in a moment, I am currently at work
Site says it has USB 3.2 Gen 2 and USB4, so that should be good. No idea if that APU has a video encoder though, might be stressful to encode with that CPU.
that was the other thing I was gonna ask next. lol I'll let you take over. I'm gonna stream soon.
Good luck! I'm just back here with some coffee now. I've got a bunch of stuff to catch up on where my Internet was out yesterday and part of today.
Did you touch Grass or Snow?
I would too!!!
And setup my mobile data so I could drive it through my home router in a pinch
Can't get 5G down here in the apartment though, only LTE+ - but still seemed decent
LTE is decent
Debated getting a keyboard for the iPad and going to the coffee shop though
that is essential
I mean I have a bluetooth one I can use with it - and it has a cover with a stand. But wanted a keyboard cover. $450 CAD was a but much though. . .
Have to track down an audio interface I can use with it for captrue too - learned the hard way about the fact it'll only let you use one audio input at a time
that bites
When I hooked up the HD60 X I found out I could get capture card audio or mic audio, not both. I've seen folks work around it with audio interfaces though.
Well I'm hopping off, and going live!
it's an OS limitation though so needs a hardware workaround
yeah, good luck with stream!
I use OBS on the HandHeld butā¦I have no clue about the cpu or APU
I installed a 4K Capture Utility update, and as soon as the "setup completed" page in the installer came up it immediately tried to restart my computer. It closed a bunch of programs with work that I had in progress without even asking. How do we prevent future updates from trying to do this?
I would suggest saving everything before you do any updates
Oh, of course! It remains an issue that it unconditionally attempts to reboot without warning, however. Typically an installer will tell you a reboot is necessary when it's finished and offer to start it for you
Usually the installer will tell you that itās gonna cause you a reboot for it to do it automatically doesnāt make sense
4K Capture Utility shouldn't even need a reboot? I even just ran it through on one of my test rigs to confirm I wasn't imagining that. Even installing it from scratch doesn't need a reboot
Yeah, I didnāt think I did either, but even if it did prompt somebody it should tell them before they reboot automatically. Iām wondering if thereās something else running in the background. Open a ticket with #official-tech-support @native zinc
Generally most apps without saved changes will prompt before close too. I wonder if something actually crashed out?
Same
my elgato 4k x only works when my monitor is set to 1440p 144 refresh rate and not 240hz, but when its set to 240hz and i use it on OBS it works fine
I've got a 4k Pro that's capturing video in the capture utility but not passing it through, I've checked the cable going from the card to the destination monitor. Does anyone have any ideas?
Are you an editor?
did you need help?
checking something. dual pc or console? I'm thinking pc...
does the monitor have DSC?
nope just asking
Unknown, however the monitor works when directly connected to the source system, just not the 4k Pro
what monitor is it?
I think it's limited, one sec.
Thisis the matrix for it.
It's a 1080p monitor running at 60hz
so this is yours, but no pictuer at all for passthrough? what is the capture setup as 1080p?
I have a video in #1291136160676188172 see if wacthing it helps you with settings, and maybe you get picture, but just to make sure HDCP is off, and OUT is connected to a TV/Gaming Monitor, and IN is connected to your Capture Card, Gaming PC/Console?
Default
what are you capturing?
Video output from a pc
are you duplicating, or cloning?
I'm duplicating now as a workaround for the pass through not working.
was it not working with clone?
I'm not familiar with the term "clone" in relationship to PC video output, other than a synonym for duplication.
yes, there is a guide one sec.
this process is the same minus sound capture. it's part of older software. https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049800232-PC-Game-Recording-with-Elgato-Game-Capture-4K60-Pro-MK-2-Setup
see if this helps.
I will, thank you.
you're welcome!
The monitor is cloned, when I setup the duplication in Windows it automatically reads as clone in the version of Nvidia Control Panel
awesome.
hey can i get some help with my elgato 4k60? im trying to pair it with a 1440p monitor
Is is the original one or the mk2 one?
Check the montior uses DSC (Display Stream Compression) to hit 240Hz. That sort of compression is used on a lot of monitors, especially ones that are a few years old, to hit higher refresh rates - but it'll also prevent a capture card from working with the setup when it activates at higher resolutions or refresh rates.
Hey do you know why the 4k pro is randomly saying āno signalā for a split second then resuming as normal
Got an Elgato HD60X for my PS5. Elgato app is absolute garbage and just gives a green screen. So be it, that's fine, I only need OBS.
Problem is, no audio comes through to OBS through my wireless headset. I had it set up working perfectly before but I'd messed it up somehow. Anybody able to help?
And no, you don't need their 'chat link' cable, nor an aux cable. They act like it's the only option. It's not. I did it without them.
Not enough info here - is OBS indicating audio on the volume meters or nothing at all? Is the headset connected to the PS5 or PC?
Try turning off VRR, or change the EDID input mode using 4K CApture Utility to Internal and see if anything changes
Nothing at all. Headset is connected to the PS5 via a 2.4Ghz dongle
How do u turn off vrr?
What headset is this? PS5 uses one audio stream per user setup - if a dongle is plugged in HDMI audio out gets force muted (though you can turn it back on it'll mute the headset insetad then). Some headsets have a workaround, but ht eonly one I can think of off top of my head is SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, or the headphone share jack with an aux cable on some of the older ones.
Depends on what you're capturing - it needs to be turned off on the console or whatever devivce you're using.
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X
Im capturing my 2nd pc
It must be one of the exceptions, because I absolutely got it working wirelessly
It's baked into the OS on the PS5. The exceptions are ones with a wired output you can capture instead - Arctis Nova Pro has a dedicated line out for streaming mode to split the audio.
I can tell you were to go to force the HDMI audio back on but then that audio won't go to the headset.
Typically for a setup like that I usually suggest listeninig through the captured audio on the PC if you don't need the mic on the console.
I need the mic on the console
Doesn't that introduce audio delay anyway
via the PC
It does yes, though is should be quite short with modern cards
I absolutely did it wirelessly. Captured game audio and mic audio.
Although I was using a seperate mic for that
So that'll be why that captured
I just can't work out how to get it back to working properly.
I can't help with that sorry - it's not in the design of the PS5 to be able to capture the audio while a wireless headset is connected, unless the headset itself can split the feed. If it happened before it was a bug I've no idea how to reproduce.
Workaround would be sign in a second controller and use an aux cable to pull audio from that, or use the headset in wired mode with a splitter or Chat Link.
Other than that, or listening through the PC the PS5 OS forces HDMI or Wireless in the output section. Xbox allows you to split game audio and party chat like you're looking to do, but not the PS5.
I have seen stranger things bug out on the console, but I've no idea how to reproduce that
(If I did I wouldn't have shelled out for the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless myself)
should i change the bottom option to 4k?
Skip VRR/GSync/Freesync for now then and try changing the EDID mode. You can leave the bottom option as it is to test - if it doesn't play nice then you can change it to whatever resolution you're working with (I don't believe it'll list 4K there though)
Do you mean i should disable gsync on my monitor?
GSync would be the VRR tech on an NVidia capture card, so you could try turnning it off in the game - disabling it on the monitor may work as well
I thought gsync was good for avoiding screen tearing
It can be - but different displays have different support for it - can wind up out of range for the capture card
Whenever im in full screen mode of a game and i try to tab out it freaks out and loses display for a bit too
Ohhh
Yeah, you can give that a shot and see if anything changes
Device: 4K60 Pro MK2
Software & Version:
Windows/Mac Version:11 Pro
Console/Dual PC: PS3/4 PC
PC/Mac Specs:Ryzen 7 7800x3d
Monitor/TV Model:MSI MPG 271QRX QD-OLED
Are you using the cable included in the box? (Yes/No):
Question/Issue:Hi everyone can someone help me i have a elgato 4K60 pro MK2 that works fine on my old pc but when i plugged it on my new pc it just doesn't recognize it windows 11 on both only difference its the chipset the old one is intel and the new one is amd would that be the problem because I've done everything.
Does the slot you've installed it in have 4 PCIe lanes wired up (noted as x4)? A lot of boards these days dynamically reassign lanes for things like NVMe drives, or additional PCIe deives
And the manual for that specific model doesn't indicate any splitting right? The model isnt' listed there so I can't look it up.
Did you already grab the drivers for it from here: https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027961152-Elgato-Hardware-Drivers ?
Yeah
Its a MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI
Good - which slot did you install the card it? It should work in the middle slot PCI_E3. The bottom one won't have enough though. There's no actual PCI 4.0x16 there though - the middle slot is a PCIe 4.0 but only wired for x4 despite having a fullsize slot (so I'm assuming that's the one you mean). The bottom slot is PCIe 3.0 and only x2 despite the full size connector.
(I dislike this new trend of full connectors for slots that arent' wired for it)
Its plugged on the middle oneš
huh
Yeah, that looks like it should meet the specs all round
Does it show up in device manager at all?
nop
Does the HDMI out on the card pass throug a signal to an externa monitor? That'd at least tell us if it's getting power
yeah it works fine on my old pc i tested it just to make sure
how would i check that i use a 1440p 240hz lg ultragear+ from 2023
somtiems it'll be in the manual for the monitior - sometimes it's not really noted and you'd have to contact their support.
alright i appreciate the response ill see what i can find i was stuck for hours last night trying to figure it out
If it is DSC thoguh neither the capture video (on the computer) or the external video on the HDMI Out going to another monitor will work though
If either of those are working you can rule out DSC
would that also be the reason it only works in obs and not 4k capture utility
That'd be something else. Does 4K Capture Utility give any kind of message when that happens?
sometimes it'll show and it'll be jittering or it'll be a black screen or it'll say 1440p249 not supported when i switch from 240hz to 144hz it works perfectly but i play competitive and need the 240hz
249 or 239? 249 sounds like a res that'd only come from VRR/GSync/FreeSync being on
239 sorry
239 would likely be broadcast timeing 240. So that tracks
That said the card suppoorts 1440p240 - but at 240 it will step the resolution down to 720p on the capture feed
In order to handle the very high refresh rate
(passthrough to anything in the HDMI out port should be unaffected)
at 1440p it'll handle 144 without step down though. See https://e.lga.to/4K_Pro_Resolutions
That said 4K Capture Utility should be able to ingest at 720p so that's still unexpected
Do you have these apps open at the same time?
no i close them each time
huh
i mean no i dont have them open at the same time
Honeslty I'd probably remmove 4K Capture and reinstall it
i make sure to close one or the other
Maybe hit the reset defaults button in the settings
i tried that yesterday but i can try again
Might be worth checking ni settings, under the device tab, if a firmware updates is available too
In settinsg what is your EDID input mode set to? Display?
yes
i tried the others but couldnt get 240hz to show up in nvidia control panel
Okay, that sends timings from the monitor ignoring the capture card's supported list. Could be timing mismatch
Huh. Internal should definitely expose 240Hz
IF it's left to default in the bottom box
lol. If the bottom option was set to 1440p before it'd lock you into 1440p HDMI 2.0 spec though - I've seen that trip folks up ther ebefore
maybe restart streaming pc?
Might be a good idea too
ill try restarting then ill try that
lmao iam having the same issues
after restart
1440p 240hz?
didnt work black screen
I'd check in with #official-tech-support and open a ticket. If it's working with OBS and not 4K Capture Utility, odds are this is an app issue
alright i appreciate your help
Unless there's security software on the system that's blocking some apps from using the card (since it shows as a camera), it should work just fine with both, if the app was working as expected
You could also try an older version of 4K Capture Utility as well to see if anything changes
alright ill try that
same issue I'll open a ticket
Blue?
odds are bad HDMI cable or damaged pins on one of the HDMI ports
the hdmi cable should be fine, but the capture card wont capture my 1440p monitor, it just does the typical green and flashing response to the resolution or refresh rate being off.
What capture card is it?
4k60 Pro
Does the card work fine with other devices?
It's important to narrow down if this is a signal input issue or a problem with the card
it worked fine with my 1080p monitor at 60hz, but when i try it with my 1440p on 60hz it freaks out,
And you're using a HDMI 2.0 cable and not somehting like an older 1.2 one right?
just checked, its a 2.0
Any firmware updates for the card if you check setting in 4K Capture Utility under the device tab?
updated the app and used the auto installer for the fimrware
. . . auto installer? You mean you used the update through settings right?
That just does the auto check?
I have never seen that before in my life. But the other part shows you're on the most recent version so it shouldn't matter
Assuming you have the 4K60 Pro Mk2, and not the original
oh that's the driver installer
not hte firmware one. I had to back check the version
Either way you're up to date
yes, mk.2
Is the card hooked up in a passthrough (gou to card, card to monitor) setup, or in cloned setup? GPU to card, GPU to montior, nothing in the HDMI out of the card
gpu to monitor, nothing in out
i downgraded and then updated again and its suddenly working
my monitor does have an hdmi port, i could try the othermethod
Interesting - something must have been corrup. Glad you sorted it out
last thing is my fps meant to be really low on the preview
That might be worth a shot - I'm drawing a blank on why the monitor is blue like that outside cable defects having issues at higher bandwidth.
4K Capture preview will be 60fps at top. Higher than that you'd need to use somehting like OBS
oh alright
so hdmi from monitor to capture card, and hdmi from gaming gpu to capture card?
No for passthrough HDMI from GPU to the HDMI In on the card, and then from the HDMI Out on the capture card, connect your monitor
oh wait
yes I'm reading that backwards from the way you did
lmao your good, let me do all that
recordings come out very laggy like 20 fps
What GPU, and NVidia or AMD one?
1070
hm
on th recroding tab in settings is it set to the GPU?
You can but that's software based - will put the load on the CPU instead
the processor is an i7 7700
not sure if thats fine
even if i put recording format to 720p60 its really laggy like 15-20 fps
okay, hdmi to card, card to monitor
okay, hdmi to card, card to monitor
still blue at 1440p?
Huh - does it record fine with other apps like OBS?
What on earth?
Can you swap the HDMI cables between monitor and PC just to be safe? This one is something really odd but looks like a HDMI sync fault
What'st he bitrate in 4K Capture Utility's recording tab set to?
What refresh rate are you pushing agian? Just 60?
i try to set it to 60 but it keeps making itself go back to 120
Huh. That's unexpected, but 120 should be supported too
Does it look fine on the monitor?
monitor looks fine, one thing though, shoudl i unplug the display cable from my gpu to the monitor?
I'd try it just to make sure it switches over
Yeah in pass though it'll just show up as your main screen
Or is that the captured feed looking clear now?
It occurs to me I don't knoow if that's a screen cap or a shot of the capture
Is the card installed in a x4 slot on your motherboard? Only other time I've seen cards break down like this above 1080p is when the motherboard slot isn't setup for more than x1
Not quite sure but its just recording my wallaper not my screen....
iam woriking with the 4k60pro mk2
Did you set the screen up to duplicate mode on the gaming PC? If it's in extended mode it shows up as a second monitor which might not have anything on it besides that wallpaper
where can i check the duplicate mode icant find it
Windows Display Settings, or your GPU software on the gaming PC
Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Model: B650M C-Y1
i pressed on the 3rd screen and made it the main one now i cant open chrome cus its caught in the pandoras box
i went back to my normal main screen its still ike this
imma restart my pc brb
I should have looked closer at this - it says right here that there's only 1 PCIe slot with more than x1. You don't meet the minumum requirements for the card - it's not going to go above 1080p without issues. Even 1080p will likely give you issuse if you go above 60hz
So there's two monitors and a capture cards virutal monitor?
yes
It should still be showing everything somewhere - but what yoou're loooking for is the option to duplicate the screen
so new mptherboard time?
And duplciate your main gaming one, to the capture card
New motherboard, or external USB capture card, I'd say, yeah
Red USB port on the back is 10 Gbps and should work with 4K X I think. Motherboard has a header to connect another USB-C with 10 Gbps too (the red port would likely need a 10 Gbps USB-A to C cable now that I think about it though)
ok good sir what shall i do now ...
NVVMN
it workesd
nice
lol. Glad you got it sorted out
i know this may seem dumb but can i have the capture card record in 1920x1080 while i use 1440p?
I've never actually tried that tbh - doesn't hurt to try. It might work since the passthrough isn't tied to the PCIe connection, just the capture
alright, so what do i need to do?
Not sure 4K Captre will let you do it or not - if it will just change the recording tab options to 1080p60
Otherwise try an app like OBS Studio and set it for manual resoultion when you add the card
yo just asking should i change the encoder so the 4k60pro m2 encodes the footage then he sends it to obs or how does it work exactly if i want it encoded by my Capture card then send to obs for minimal gpu usage
There's no built in encoder on the capture card. Typically you'll use the encoder on the GPU to process the video in OBS only.
Most capture cards these days have a hardware encoder built in to help minimize the impact on the GPU (though for ones like NVENC they'll still use the CUDA cores on the card)
so how do i activate the encoder ... do i do it by choosing it in obs? or in the software?
Either of thsoe two NVENC options are for the NVidia GPU encoder
Use H.264 for things like twitch, and HEVC for things like local recording
Is connecting my headset dongle to the PC to get audio via the capture card on PS5 going to introduce delay
because if it does and that really is the only solution then that is piss poor.
Like I said, you can do what you're trying too do on the Xbox (for game audio and party chat at least, there are some limits on other setups) because the console has options for it. On the PS4 and PS5, Sony has the audio locked down to single feed per user. Switch has the same issue. The reason you're not finding a way to do it is Sony has it locked down.
We even said here, Chat Link isn't the only way to make it work - just one of the most cost effective ones. Personally, I went with a SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless which has a line out on the base station I can use via AUX cable as a workaround. You can also split the analog audio out from a console since it's just analog audio, which is how Chat Link and some other solutions work - but that won't work for Wireless or USB as those are client/host data connections and the wireless would actually be encrypted on top of it. Some folks work around it by signing in an second controller and capturing the audio via that (though it can have issued wwhen the second user is supposed to get different audio than the first). If you drop the need to go wireless there's a bunch of other things that'l do the job for the audio splitting too - Astro's MixAmp TR Pro, Steelseries GameDAC Gen2, a bunch of various USB mixers.
That said not sure why you're getting any kind of compression artifacting - is Windows Audio Enhancements on? Delay is a knwon issue wwith the PC listening, since the audioo gets synced to the HDMI video processing delay on top of the audio processing, but there shouldn't be compression problems unless there's extra processing going on.
That said what are you running into wwith green screen?
Colour casting?
Nope. Just green.
that's it
The PS5 window is just
green
instead of the console
Which card do you have again?
I usually see that when there's not enough PCIe bandwidth on the internal ones
This doesn't apply if it's working in other apps
Unless more than one app is open at a time
Typically for bandwidth issues, it'll work fine on 1080p60 if it works at all, but as you start scaling up either resolution or refresh rate, parts of the screen turn green because there's not enough bandwidth to process it all - and if more than one app is open the second app to open just gets all green - since Multiapp uses more bandwidth.
If that's what you're seeing check the motherboard manaual to see what the spec on the slot is, and if it shares bandwidth with things like NVMe slots or other PCIe slots - sometimes a motherboard even just needs a slot dropped from like PCIe 4.0 x2 to PICe 3.0 X4 in settings or something too
audio enhancements were on, yes
no matter, I'll just use the cable
HD60X
I'm trying to run 1440p 120Hz
which OBS does just fine
ah, HD60X getting green is unusual. Green cast yes, but full green screen is odd since it's a UVC card and uses the OS UVC drivers.
Ah, if OBS is working with it it's the app then
As long as only one of them is open at a time anywya
for that I'd reach out to #official-tech-support
honestly the 4K Player isn't the issue. It just seems to be something guides keep going back to
I suppose it makes permanent changes that OBS can't?
I dunno.
It does, but only for things like the audio mode (HDMI vs Analog), and EDID settings
Since those can't be set over UVC
Y'know, part of the issue might be that this is running off a laptop
I do not own a PC
might be introducing compression or whatever
Laptops are still PCs, but not a desktop then. Should generally still be fine if it meets the spec
I'm using a laptop myself
I did have too turn off audio enhancments to keep it from trying ti apply noise cancellation to the card though
it's not noise cancellation, just really low quality audio
maybe not compressed, I just said that because that's how it sounds
Yeah - there's different effects that get tied into the audio enchancements through
If they're not appying correctly you can just turn them all off by turning off the enchancements
Should also check that things like Dolby are not on, on the PS5 as HD60 X does standard stereo / Linear PCM - other encodings can cause distorition too
Linear PCM is on
I'll test it again
well, no, actually
I'll still wait for the cable to arrive
I want to minimise delay
I would get that other SS headset if I could afford it
but I've already got a pricey headset from them
Yeah, the Nova Pro is not cheap, even on their Black Friday sales
Yeah, the audio on that should be pretty much the same, it's only other features like the streaming output port that come with the Pros, and the swappable batteries
yup, still barely under $500 here even on sale
$500AUD
that is
Sounds about right - $450 CAD.
Even refrubished they're like $300
But yeah, wireless audio capture tends to be a huge headache
Even wired isn't super easy, but at least there's a bunch of workarounds once you've got an analog audio signal
ah well, as long as I can capture everything
That note that Chat Link won't split the mic
I have an external microphone
Perfect
alright, well, the cable arrives tomorrow. Probably can't pick it up til... Wednesday.
until then, I'll wait
and remove the spew above. I was really pissed off.
Good luck with it - myself and other voluneteers are in and out here if you still have hiccups with it then.
all good
Only other thing to keep in mind with the cable - make sure you use 4K Capture Utilitu to set the card to analog audio when you hook it up
will do
appreciate the patience
All good, trying to hook it all up can be frustrating. I've been working in IT for like 20 years now, and still get tripped up on some things with it occasioanlly
Good luck with the setup once the cable is in
Can we get a bit more info on that? Is this a dual PC setup? What do you mean by "can't up a song"? Can't pickup a song from the other PC?
can i get a hd60x capture card for free
do you deliver in pakistan
can you sponser my livestream channel for lifetime with hd60x video card
For any kind of partnership requests look at #elgato-partnership . This is a community help channel where volunteers help with tech issues. If you see the title for the channel above, you'll not Elgato doesn't regularly monitor it.
i got a ELGATOHD60 AND i want to record game chat audio on my xbox. i have the chat link cable and when i connect it thereās just an echo and my headset is super low but the game chat is loud anyone know how to fix this pls hmu
Hey my camlink to sony a7II to OBS studio is laggy why is this ? its 60fps on obs studio but still choppy why?
Dual pc setup, gaming monitor is 1440p 360hz, was working fine on my old monitor 1080p, 240hz, now trying to make the switch and the best Iāve gotten I am so lost lmao
so i have this issue with my 60x. white light on the led. if i use obs with it bsod
Hi everyone currently just want to confirm if anyone is using a dual pc setup here and has the 4k x elgato capture card do we have to clone the card to the gaming monitor in order to catch the game is this the only way? as I want to make sure my refresh rate doesn't get affected at all,and also does the 4k x support 240hz at all, from what I've read it supports 1080p at 240hz? any help would be appreciate š
This usually happens when a motherboard doesn't have enough PCIe lanes on the slot the card is in to hit the max bandwidth. Do you know your motherboard model offhand, and what slot you've got the card installed in?
HD60 X uses the windows UVC driver so you may want to do a system check on Windows there. White light indicates no HDMI signal detected though. Blue is good signal, red is bad.
It should be able to handle 1080p in passthrough at 240hz. GPU to card's HDMI in, HDMI out to the monitor. Make sure the cables are all HDMI 2.0 or faster, and that the montior actually supports 240hz on HDMI (some only get max refresh rate on DisplayPort)
How choppy are we talking here? Is it choppy in preview too, or just in a recording?
If you're using Xbox make sure mic monitoring is turned off on the volume settings. It'll sound like an echo
Hey sir i have a question my elgato 4k60pro mk2 does it encode and will help to lessen the strain on my gpu or cpu? ifnot which of the encoder should i use?
i have a rtx 3060 or the ryzen 7 5700X 8c
does it bottel neck each other ?
my friend said so but he is stupid so meh iodk
this is the first time I'm using a dual pc setup and I did have the hd60 x card both my monitors are 240hz and yet it's capping at 120hz or less when in the physical game will I have this issue with the 4k x as long as I'm in 1080 resolution it should give me 240 fps in the game too? Just want to make sure my monitor is getting its true refresh rate!
4K60 Pro Mk2 does not have an encoder. Use the NVENC encoder on your GPU. H.264 if you're streaming to something like Twitch. HEVC if you're recording locally.
Only some of the older cards had encoders on them, and they didn't work the same way GPU ones did, they mostly worked to get the video off the card. Your friend may have outdated info.
HD60 X should be capable of 1080p240 too as long as HDR isn't on. If HDR is on the options drop a bit to handle the increased colour depth and data.
appreciate all the help here everyone š
what monitor do you have - the specific model number? The manual for it should indicate if the HDMI port can't run as fast a the DP one
am I setting it up correctly I have gaming monitor cloned to the capture card?
would that be why I'm not getting the 240hz in my refresh rate?
You can do that - though passthrough would work too, where the monitor goes to the card and the card goes to the GPU, for those settings
If the montior only does 240Hz on the DP though cloning would be the way to go
but you'd also have to be sure you're cloning the monitor to teh card and not the other way around
both my samsung monitos are hooked up with display port cables and the capture card is setup with the cables it came with eg hdmi in to gpu then usb to usb c
monitors*
Are the monitors running at 240 hz now?
yes in the windows settings it says 240hz,but in the game it says different im confused
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H WIFI (streaming pc obvi)
⢠Slot Placement: The Elgato 4K60 Pro is installed in the [PCIe x1 or x16] slot.
⢠Additional Context: The GPU is installed in the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, and Iām wondering if the limited bandwidth has a workaround or would I need to upgrade my motherboard entirely, if so, what would you suggest
Yeah, pulling up the manual for that it only has one actual x16 slot (the GPU one). The other one has a x16 slot but is only wired for x1
This is a common thing on newer boards as some devices like GPUs can use a x16 slot and have one as a result but can also work in an x1. It's what you're running into here though - you don't have a full x4 lanes so the card can only work with lower resolutiosn and refresh rates
Lmaooo So I needa go buy the ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (Wi-Fi)
@past basin
Is basically what ur sayin
Let me check the manual
Are you playing the game in fullscreen or borderless windowed? Games in fullscreen and override windows settingss
so just to clarify the card I currently have the hd60 x only will allow me to game from the monitor at 240hz 1080p? and oh I didn't check actually that what might be the issue then if it's not in correct display so it needs to be fullscreen also yes?
Yeah, as long as you don't use the x1 slots on that ASUS board the other PCIe slot should run at x4 mode, which meets the spec of the card
As long as HDR isn't on, yes. 1080p240 is listed on the supported resolutions here: https://e.lga.to/HD60X_Resolution
It will only capture at 120, but it'll pass through 240 (and you likely don't want to capture at 240 anyway as that'll put heavy load on the streaming computer and eat a ton of storage space compared to capture at 60)
Bet
Thank you!
hdr automatically disables on my gaming monitor when I check in the settings when capture card is cloned so that's fine then?!
Good luck with it!
Should be fine, yes
That's normal for Windows too - HDR disables when cloning is on
so I can still game at 240 on my gaming monitor and still cap the game
Should be able to yes
Check that your game settings aren't overriding windows though, if it's in fullscreen
so as of now as long as my game from game monitor is in fullscreen mode it has to be in fullscreen mode yes? and the refresh rate is set to 240hz in windows the game should also allow me to set it to that when capture card is set up also!?
juts messaged u on dm
if u could check would be amazing
I mean more if it's in borderless it'll run the 240Hz Windows is telling you it's at. If you run it in fullscreen some games may have their own optiosn where you have to set the refresh rate. Fullscreen will poll what's available itself and may entirely ignore the Windows optiosn depending on what card you're using
Will tyr to take a look there in a second
I'm just going to see if I can get it to work now from everything you have said!
so am I right in saying even tho I have a 4k monitor i no longer will be able to play at 2k anymore whilst in use with the capture card? as the card will restrict me from using any higher resolution in my gaming monitor display settings? Just want to confirm if that's true
1080p is the max? as of now? to be able to get the 240fps?
I've missed something here sorry - I thought this was a 1080p setup?
Also by 2K do you mean 1920x1080, or 2560x1440? Technically the latter is 2.5K or 1440p, but I see monitor makers mislabelling it a lot lately because 2K sounds better
I have a 4k gaming monitor with a 4090 rig and a streaming pc also a i7 build and I want to get the 240hz my monitor from the gaming monitor onto my gaming monitor when using the capture card when streaming if that makes sense?
In a cloned setup you can generally let the GPU handle refresh rate differences between your monitor and your capture card anyway - so it should be possible to play at 240 Hz, can capture at 60/120/30, whatever - as long as the resolutions match and you're cloning the montior the card and not the other way around
This works most reliably when gaming in borderless windowed mode though
So if you're cloning it doesn't matter too much, either way. As long as the card supports the resolution
and things are setup in the right order
so will I only be able to game at 1080p when streaming at 240hz and not any higher resolutions until a card support that in the future?
I normally play at either 1080p or 2k 1440p when gaming but I'm assuming I can't do that as of now as the cards don't support 240hz so I won't receive 240hz on my gaming monitor?
the capture cards*
If the montior supports 1440p240 it should be fine. The card can't run at that, but in a cloned seutp the GPU will split things up so the card gets a lower signal like 14440p120 it can handle while th emonitor still gets 240
If you were using the passthrough method, where the gpu goes to the card and the card goes to the monitor, this would be an issue
in a cloned setup the GPU sorts it out
I'm not sure if I have passthrough method ive got the hdmi in the capture card going with the other end to the 4090 gpu, then the usb c to the usb port on the streaming pc!
That's fine - if you had to clone a display in Windows it's the clone method anywya
That'll work better for your paritcular setup
is that correct for a dual setup? and then clone the capture card to the monitor or the monitor to the capture card?
Montior goes cloned to the capture card
so if I do it the other way around that might be why my hz is not displaying correctly?
Windows isn't really clear on what goes to what so if you don't get all the modes for your montior one way just set it back to extend and set it up again the other way
I need to check if that's what I have done
Run the game in borderless see if it stays the same
If your game runs with VRR you'll likely see it keep changing over time
so am I right in saying I can play at any resolution I want to on the game monitor and have my display set to 240hz as normal then the capture card will not stop me from that when streaming and the card will downscale to suit the resolution without affecting my in game display refresh rate on the game monitor?
as I just ordered the 4k x thinking that the hd60 x was holding me back from all of this so I didn't need to purchase the 4k x after all?!
It shouldn't stop you no - the GPU should continue to do 240Hz output to the monitor and split off a copy for the capture card at a lower refresh rate
As long as the cloning is setup the right way around
at 1080p the HD60 X would work even in passthrough (if the monitor does 240Hz on HDMI and not just DP - in cloned mode that doesn't matter)
4K X would let you use the card in passthrough though, at up to 1440p240 or 4K144. That would let you turn on HDR if you needed it (since that gets disabled in cloned mode)
(thouh there are ways to skirt that HDR issue with extended mode and OBS cloning instead of windows cloninig)
what happens if I can't extend gaming monitor when cloned it's stuck now with elgato and gaming monitor together
they won't extend
Windows shouldn't let that happen. If you're doing it via the Windows display settings you should have a drop down to let you switch them back like this
If it's not there reboot
If it's still not there tryin using the NVidia or AMD software to flip it back
Extend these displays is what you're looking for
It drops the numbers on your setup sinc eyou only have the two
it goes black screen then goes back to the same again where it's 1/2
okay so I don't need to lower my resolution in windows to 1080p then or in the game? I can still play at high resolutions and enjoy the higher resolutions and fps using the capture card same time to stream without any impacts? Just wanted
just restarting now to see if that helps
Should be fine as long as the cloning is the right way around, yes.
they aren't separating from each other now!
what do I do now if they won't seperate?
Windows shouldn't normally let that happen - but it does do a thing where it'll leave the new settings up for 10 seconds and siwtch back if you don't say keep it in time. how long is the screen blanking out for?
Other than that, you can usually change that with yoru GPU's software too
okay so it has split so I have my vaoture card software on the stream pc loaded up I can see that it's split but now nothing shows on my game monitor
capture *
I haven't used the hdmi out port on the capture card that's not needed right if I'm just using a dual stream setup?
You would have to duplicate them again here - you just want to make sure the monitor gets duplicated to the card, not the other way around.
But yes with your style setup the HDMI out on the card isn't needed
I think I've done it the other way around lol
my game screen now shows nothing and the card is appearing to show my game monitor screen on the card now and I have a blank screen on my monitor
Cna you hop into 4K CApture Utility on the streaming PC, and in settings try changing the EDID input mode to Internal
Sounds like mode detection issue
double tab CTRL to see what screen the mouse is on
okay i have movement again
right so on the display settings now they are both separated
so what does it need to be set to sorry in the game capture software?
the input does that need to always stay on display?
You should only be separating them here to setup the cloning again to make sure it's the right way around.
If it's already back up you can ignore what I said about hte Game Capture software for now
I think i might have had my game capture settings wrong
there is a input edid mode and then edid internal should I leave these to default sorry?
on the elgato software
In a cloned setup like your's leave it at Internal
(merged is probably also fine, but Internal is what I'd suggest to be safe)
okay so edid mode set to internal and the bottom one set to default?
think this is what's causing the issue
That should be fine
Default exposes all modes the card can do - only set it to a specific one if you have trouble
the capture cards is showing steam open but on my main monitor it's not there? I've changed something here i think
Sounds like setting them back to cloned after you separated them isn't working
check that, make sure they went back to duplicate
Yeah, set them back to dupliate
so okay that's better
Windows can be tricky with order, I can never rememebr which it calls which but I think you'll want to select whichever is your actual monitor first and select the clone option for 1 to 2 (or 2 to 1)
