I am incredibly blessed to be able to 1) function with hearing aids and 2) afford them in the first place

I personally do not like it when insurance makes their patrons go to get the implants first before testing out other, albeit more expensive alternatives. Once you get the implants, there is no going back and there is a chance that it will not work (like in my case)

I do understand if the issue resides solely in financial conditions but if you can afford to look at alternative routes first before getting the surgery, then please do.
