Per the pins. IF your device meets those requirements, it should work. Also keep in mind, Sky does require Google's Compatibility Test Suite to pass (mainly the SafetyNet check portion of this test), so a modified phone in any way or one that isn't certified for Google Play services will not work.
You would need the "device is certified" in the Play Store settings like in the attached image to "be compatible" if your device meets the required hardware specifications.

There is a spec in the Adreno GPU called "Adreno boost" If samsung changed the limit your phone can have it flipped on, that can cause some overheating also

However, sound assistant is not limited to Android version. It is capable of being downloaded and installed on my S7 (Android 8). The requirement is Samsung Experience version 8.5 (with restrictions) Samsung Experience version 10.1 is required for all features. Other requirements are One UI version 1.5 and up. One UI 2.0 for all features.

My friend's phone can't run the game and its old anyway so he's looking to buy a new one, but I cant seem to find a list of ok phones anywhere. The requirements aside from Android 8+, ram, and storage don't come up when looking at phone specs. Is there any kind of list of ok phones? I have found the Samsung Galaxy S7 plays the game without any lag. On the flip side it, gets pretty hot.
I have heard that the OnePlus 6 plays the game without lag as well. I have no information as to it whether or not it gets hot.

The Samsung Galaxy A20 can be found on eBay for as little as $80. It plays the game with some lag, but is fairly stable.
Heat is very well handled. And the battery lasts a while.

@mighty edge Using S9+ on Optimized and can still run the Game in 60fps Mode without any Issues (Except the New Island), never Tried with HP beause its working in Optimized. In HP the Battery will drain a lot faster

It wasn't an Android 10 issue. I honestly don't know what causes it as I have a Pixel 3a and never experienced any crashed while playing the game, taking pictures or anything similar.
My assumption is some devices were getting an unhandled exception error or ran low on memory due to the memory requirements of the new area, so it closed or crashed depending on what happened. I can't say for sure as I cannot replicate to check logs on my end.

Your GPU is 100% the bottleneck for why 60fps is not available.
The weakest adreno GPU that has been certified as 60fps compatible is the adreno 540.

I noticed, my phone has its default "game booster" app which monitors my GPU, CPU, and FPS. Facing the camera on less objects and entities such as in Vault, I get 25-30 fps, but facing the clouds at home or the Citadel gives me 10-15 fps = GPU reads at 99% CPU at 25% and FPS at 15.

Sky is a graphically intense game. Mid-range GPUs like the adreno 506 will struggle to meet the full 30 FPS cap. Which is why 60fps is not an option.

Talking about resolution, it seems that my phone runs Sky not at 100% resolution, I'll say 70-80% at default mode. Power-saver mode gives me somewhat 50% and boosted mode gives me 100%. What would be I'm looking for in phone specs to know which spec is struggling to render 100% resolution? I'm sorry I'm not really good at technical hardware stuff I do my best to explain...

Ok... Just about any flagship will run the game without lag. GPU and RAM is pretty much the only limiting factor. Devices with 3 GB of RAM have trouble screenshotting in the sanctuary. GPUs better stronger than the adreno 540 will run the game at 60fps (heat expected).

If you know how to use ADB commands. Reducing the internal resolution of your screen can increase performance. I can vouch from experience that this does actually work. However if you do not know how to use ADB commands, I would recommend to leave them alone. (It's not hard to find out though... 👀)

480p may be a good option. This will lower the display resolution for all applications. some phones that I have tried this out in the past have had system apps failed to load at different resolutions than native... So keep that in mind. All newer phones that I've had seems to handle the resolution change well.

If you have any issues, and can't boot, due to it being a non root method, this means it is a hidden user setting and a factory reset should bring it back to normal

Also, be sure to "always allow" when prompted for ADB access. If you get stuck in a boot loop, ADB commands can usually be delivered during boot to reset to default.

Right now Google isn't forcing Hardware-backed attestation. They did a pilot test back in March and a few devices started failing safetynet. It was reverted a few days later. So it is in the works. But yes, when Google does flip the switch, if your device isn't hardware backed, you would be fine.

Yeah, windows isn't friendly with some devices. Personally I always recommend Linux (it just works) and try to make sure the user knows their way around it before suggesting anything involving tinkering that deep with your android device as user error or not knowing what you're doing can do more harm than good.
It is beyond the scope for this server, but sometimes it helps.

Don't know if this is still relevant, but I always have to manually install Android USB drivers for ADB to recognize my phone. Running the installer for the phones specific driver doesn't work. What I always have to do it download the generic Android USB drivers, you can find them just by Googling, it's a zip file containing an .inf file, and then with my my phone plugged in, from control panel, go to Devices & Printers, right click on your device > properties > hardware > properties > driver > update driver > browse my computer for driver software > let me pick from a list > have disk. Then navigate to the inf file. it's really convoluted. I apologize this has already been established or isn't relevant.

That confuses me... I have tried a lot of different devices with ADB. Including three LG devices, 8 Samsung devices, two ZTE devices, and one Coolpad device. All of these devices had no issues working directly out of the box. I did not have to install any custom drivers to recognize the device. I guess I've been really lucky to have the perfect devices...

Keep in mind that fans are the primary cooling solution of nearly all PCs. Even water cooled PCS have a radiator that is covered in fans.

Huawei nova 3i is compatible, check the pins to see troubleshooting steps to ensure google isn't throwing a weird incompatibility error by mistake. Also check this google article regarding newer Huawei devices launched after May 16, 2019 https://support.google.com/android/thread/29434011?hl=en this is something outside of TGC's control. You'd need to go through NetEase's app store to download sky. For those using Huawei devices outside of China, you're unfortunately in a strange predicament due to the restrictions with Google. We currently do not have plans to release sky on Huawei's proprietary app store.

Portrait mode is being tested on Beta, but development is only partially working for iOS devices right now. Due to the sheer volume of device differences for Android, it'll be a while before work out the kinks and bring this feature to Live.
As always, if you're experiencing something strange in-game, please submit a bug report with as much info as possible, especially device info, it is very valuable to QA to help identify steps to reproduce the issue.

@short magnet We've had this conversation a few times. Sky is distributed through Google and Apple only. We do not use any third party services to access game files and there are currently no plans for this to change any time in the near future.
We use the file download systems to alleviate the amount of time needed before being able to play from initial download, the rest of the game file are on-demand. This is a pretty common strategy for larger games, especially on mobile.
We're a small independent studio and Sky is self-published, we don't have the massive support structure that going through a large publisher offers, but it also means we have full control of our game. There are tradeoffs and pros/cons with both strategies.

It is very disappointing to see such an answer, and most of all it is a shame that you will not be able to play this game

I'm not one to usually get into these kind of things but... it is entirely possible to manually install Google play services and Google play on a Huawei device. I've actually install Google play on my friends Amazon Kindle, complete with Google play services and Google play account manager. If you really want the game to work on your specific Huawei device, then it might be beneficial for you to take the steps to install Google play services on there. The ban on Huawei devices was to prevent Huawei from shipping them with Google play services. The ban has nothing to do with the device once it belongs to you.

The vast majority of Huawei devices fall back onto NetEase's app store. This is an unfortunate reality for those who choose to pick up a newer Huawei device and are no longer able to play Sky. It's not TGC's responsibility to tell you which device to buy, you as a consumer should do your homework before making a purchase. We can only provide information on which devices are supported, which we do regularly.
You can get Google services on Huawei devices, but it will lack the Play Protect certification and will prevent the utilization of certain apps. Again, this is all spelled out in the article above. We're not able to provide support for devices that aren't certified, this is a similar issue encountered with rooted devices.
And yes AppGallery is third party, so are Apple and Google, by definition. Difference being we have contracts with Apple and Google, and eventually Nintendo when Switch is ready. We do not have a contract with AppGallery, and have no plans to do so at this time. that doesn't mean it never will since I cannot speak for the goals of the company however far into the future. We want to bring Sky to as many people as we can but it still has to be a sustainable business model to keep the lights on.

Yeah, that area has been reported to cause random crashes. If you get a pop up on the crash to "report" or similar, please do. That means your device supports Crashlytics which should send log data to Google who will send to TGC. Also reporting in #bug-reports-android will help also

It shouldn't freeze at all. Yeah, your device is most likely below minimum specs. Do you by chance force close all other apps? Freezing would be a ram issue or your phone might be low end enough, it can't handle certain instructions the game requests.

My Android phone has a feature of selecting restrictions per app. If I completely restrict all background apps for Sky, will this improve its performance? Dang >.> I just stopped playing and wasn't experiencing any issues like that.. Only Sanctuary Islands entrance crashes for me, but teleporting to a friend in the area seemed to get around that.

Laz, sadly, Sanc still isnt optimized for most Androids so thats going to keep happening. But im glad you found a workaround that works. Be sure to also restart your game after exiting Sanc to prevent crashes elsewhere.

It wouldn't be any different than anything else that drains the battery. You may have issues with heat, but your device should throttle itself and will likely lower performance to prevent any damage to your device.
I would think the only real risk would come from using cheap chargers and poorly certified charging cables, but that's an issue entirely independent from the game.
Although all rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charges over their lifetime of use and total charge capacity will eventually decrease, but it's not something that would be directly related to any particular app or game under normal usage conditions.

There are many apps available on the app store that will tell you the specs of your phone. You will want "64-bit checker" to see if your device has a 64-bit operating system. CPU-Z or AIDA64 to see general information. And opengl es extension viewer to see your Opengl ES and Vulkan version.

You can in fact dynamically play sky between two devices. As long as you have your save synced using an account, all progress is saved on the cloud. I play on two different devices. The A20 and the S7. I actively switch between the two devices and have no issues doing so.
I can assume this will work with three or more as well.

Relatively. The A20 plays with a lag, handles heat well and battery lasts a while. The S7 please without lag, gets really hot and has poor battery... (Easily solved with a fan and a charger) both are locked at 30fps.
The S7 is able to take screenshots in the sanctuary.

My 3a never lagged until they reduced resolution this last update. It never crashed in sanctuary and only issue I have is the widespread crash when leaving sunny forest. Happens to me about 1/10 times on that transition.
It used to support 60fps, until about a month ago when they made changes to reduce devices heating.

Oh I have the S10+ I find it runs the game really well. Aside from my weird freeze/crash today I almost never crash with this phone.

Most likely that means the kernel is throwing the page fault error, where the permissive switch wouldn't change anything.
But if switching to permissive let it just be an error and not a crash

Please, for the love of all that is light, stop asking the same questions, Maks. The answer won't change. Netease controls the Chinese localisation of Sky due to certain rules in mainland.
For the global version, TGC controls all of the release. This means if they want users to download it from Google Play store and pass safetynet. That is within their rights.
Third party stores can have malicious or reverse engineered and edited code, which is a huge security concern. Just because advertisements in your area are flooded with Huawei ads, that doesn't mean they have market majority. Samsung has roughly 45% market share of Android while Huawei has 13%. Numbers don't lie.

Crashes at Sunny Forest's exit is affecting most Android phones with the new update. For the time being it's best to avoid using those exits entirely.
These crashes appear to be more serious than the previous gw shipwreck exit for some phones (like mine), and causes the entire phone to freeze, rather than simply force close Sky.

I do agree rooting isn't a topic for this discord due to it having no relevance on your play experience with Sky.
Most Android manufacturers are "developer" friendly. They just void the warranty on phones that get unlocked. It isn't against the TOS, just they will not help you troubleshoot or RMA if your phone has issues after unlocking the bootloader to load custom software.
If it was against the manufacturers' TOS, Motorola, Lenovo and Sony wouldn't have official sites to get your unlock code. OnePlus and Google wouldn't make it as simple as flipping the OEM unlock option in Developer options to run the unlock command.
I think the better verbiage would be "we don't condone actions that would void your phone's warranty in this discord" to be more accurate.

It seems the Moto G5S will support Sky (64 bit OS, 3GB ram, Vulkan API compatibility). It is pretty low spec with the Adreno 505, but that would just limit the video settings you would be able to go up to. Do you see it in the play store?

I've played the first 3 levels but now when i open it, the video of the Season of the Sanctuary starts playing and the game crashes.
