It's commonly said that the ability to draw is a skill you are born with.
To what extent (if at all) do you agree with this?

i think u start off w basics like shapes maybe(not most likely or anything just maybe) as “ natural talent “ and then ig u start to develop skill from inspiration

I agree with this, I am in no way gifted in drawing but in the month or so I've been enjoying drawing I feel more comfortable exploring different styles
And although I'm not necessarily happy with the style I draw in right now I can see the slight improvements in speed and ease

Definitely don't agree with the "born" part, you might be born with advantages that helps you improve and learn better and faster, but the skill of drawing in itself isn't something you're born with

Sadly during my highschool life my teacher for art clearly had a vendetta against me and would repeatedly tear drawings and paintings apart for mistakes
Which turned me away from art 😂

I know it's not relevant to sky but it's relavent slightly to the conversation so I'll tell a short story

We were drawing pottery in class
And had drawn a demonic type of pot where the horns came to either side as handles and the top down was a big open demon mouth, and it got torn apart, then put into water for not being realistic
I stand up walk out and never drew anything but I single circle on a page for the rest of my time having her
