tbh it's not just cool vs warm but what I'm making use of is saturation
because the red is desaturated, the blue looks WAY more cool because it's vibrant and saturated to heck
so it's very much playing with contrast

purple is still a cool leaning colour because of that contrast

tbh best example is sometimes I do stuff like this where the cool colour is the accent and I blend it back in with lineart instead, where there's a darker cyan desat edge to the shadow parts

If your layer 4 are flat colors, you can use a lighter segment of those colors to create a nice lighting technique. I’m bad at explaining but someone might explain a little better

I duplicate the color layer 2-3 times after merging it down. then i set all 3 to add and gaussian blur the bottom ones (The first less than the second) and leave one normal. Does that make sense?
