COLOR THEORY QUESTION!!

I'm doing a black and white piece rn

are the objects closer to the viewer darker? are the distant ones lighter?

Depends on the lighting i guuess🤔🤔

if we look closely the distant is significantly lighter

but fog may be the cause

I'm going for a depressing setting so I'll definitely add fog

that’s fog so the objects are closer and easier to define/see
usually if i’m drawing i make the objects and background a little darker so that the subject(s) of the piece stand out and to create depth 🤷‍♀️
but the lighting can go either way

My sky oc is someone who was chosen by the elders of sky to protect their realm from the shards, the elder knew about the shards when prophecy guide warned them about eden's eruption, so they had to choose a sky kid to give them the pendant of light and dark (the pendant of season of shattering) by giving them that pendant the sky kid would be able to harness both dark and light but it comes with a price..
