Unless I am horribly mistaken.
When in the Season of Dreams season area, the Eden mountain is now where to be seen.

By that same token though, when racing down the hill to the coliseum, you cannot see the dream village on the right hand side.
While this is likely the devs either forgot or did not wanting to change that OOB area for some reason, thus leaving a blank space where the village would have been visible. And vice versa with the dream village is able to see the coliseum, but not eden mountain.

Hello! Ok this is my first ever text in lore channel and honestly I’m pretty noob level on lore so this might as well be my last, but does anyone have any idea who megabird is. I mean I know a bit about her ( I hope ) but I’d like to know more

Sorry for giving my opinion that late,
In my opinion, when you gracefuly see a manta swimming in the ocean it seems more to be flying by flapping wings rather than swimming, and for every big and grace animal that looks so, they made them out of water. Manta, Whale, Jellyfish.

Note also that light creatures comes from water too! Like dragonfly larvae, their first stage of life starts in water, you may notice a baby Whale light creature swimming arround in abyss, and à bigger one starting to swim out of water in sanctuary.

#

I also developped a theory from seeing the outro when going to Eden, you can see when they show the credits, different "Sun" (Sun that we join in orbit) that also has got light creatures coming in it. Which means that main lights has been given the role of populating dark zones or planets with light, for the a further living existing life.

#

Which means that we're not on the only planet with life in sky, but a one that went wrong way (due to Eden 's implosion)

slim plume
#

Now I'd be curious to skids going to other places in space and see all the life there (or what remains of it pEyes). The Kingdom of Sky seems to have been ruined for a long while when we arrive, it'd be neat to see a place that's just recently been ruined (and perhaps helping in rebuilding/fixing it pFIRE)

nimble ingot
# hushed steeple Sorry for giving my opinion that late, In my opinion, when you gracefuly see a m...

That creature in Abyss may not be a whale.
Though I may be wrong given the lack of evidence to prove otherwise.

The 'marble eel' may be linked to the Whale, though not directly related.
What may suggest this is the face has 4 eyes, while the whale has 2.
Both may have face plates, though the tails do not match.

It is uncommon for Sky creature's to have parents differ vastly from their young.
The mantas and birds can attest to this. All while the elders may be an exception as they are known to be either extremely large, have additional limbs or both.

The segmented look of the boats makes me wonder if they were possibly modular.
Or if the pieces can be replaced, like a wheel or a piece of a car, and repaired for another boat to use.
The smallest ones seem like they are just one pieced models, while the largest one (the forgotten ark) has several segments and more diamonds.
Almost like the diamonds are similar in use to the boat as oars/sails are to a real life ship.

Very few boats are found in one piece. Though understandably, most of them would have fallen to the ground and likely broke apart on impact.

It rests on the water surface in the side cave where the Exhausted Dock Worker's memory is and it never moves .

What do we know about forgotten ark? I'm pretty sure the murals on the ark were the work of the people stranded there. I think it tells of how they discovered and harnessed light. There's also the small strip of farmland where they collected food and the posts? maybe to help them see where resources are in the distance. Is it possible that light was a gift from megabird? The umbrella carriers initially had the sparkly light. I think they were excited and shared it with others. Perhaps it was a business opportunity? And the two groups were working together to use the light and sell it to commoners. There are six orbs on the mural and there are six known lights throughout Sky. So they could have been working on that until tragedy struck. The people on the boat are probably from vault because of thier headwear and the diamond containers inside the ark. But why were they on an ark? It couldn't have been just to transport spells. Maybe this has something to do with exploration or the war. But I don't know much about the war? There's a ship in wasteland that seems to be carrying cargo of some kind? It might have been made after the ark was because of the change in design. Ik ships and arks aren't the same but the ship seems more "modern".

violet sundial

The umbrella carriers are most likely Lightseekers SeasonLightseekers

As for the selling, I don’t think they sold those colored lights… I feel like there was a more specific purpose to them bringing them to Wasteland, of all places.

There was a common theory that colored lights are artificially created with pure light & the elements, hence the connection between them & the Lightseekers & that they were business partners of the sort. Only of you like to.

Skykids tend to give themselves and each other names. Whether these names match or not, depends on the relationship between a given pair of skykids and if the name given is a nickname.

Perhaps it is like Warrioir Cats, where the cat gets given a name, but later one can change it as they take a new name.

As in, a prefix is given at birth, and suffix is their rank (ex. -kit is for a youngster).
The name is based on what they are, look like or represent.

Maybe for skykids (fanon idea), they get called moth or chibi just as a nickname or descriptor. And given a nickname like Angel or Bird. But their chosen name would be used to address them intendly (like calling a kid by their full name when things are serious.)

My theory is that vault of knowledge mantas are the results of the draining- Maybe some get sent to vault after they become useless, to help the scholars reach places. The fact these mantas are transparent support the idea that their light is mostly drained- They can hardly hold a physical form and therefore are mostly transparent. That one may be called a Cosmic manta / Elder Spirit Manta (Not sure where the source would be from the game itself, or concept art. Though the Wiki has that name for the creature). The canon name of the creature may not be it, though that is what we have to work with:

If we're going off of the "Vault Elder is trying to preserve the Vault but they're memory is faulty so they've just resorted to daydreaming and imagining the rest of it" theory the spirit mantas could be just that, a product of the Vault Elder imagining things. It'd also tie in with the fact that the whisperer spirit is called "Memory Whisperer," as these mantas would literally just be memories of the Vault Elder. I guess the question now is what memory/ies are they SkyThink

Speaking of the vault elder, what's the diamond shaped object they're holding in the cutscene? Is it a small power diamond?

#

Starlight Desert also gives a hint: "Where Dreamlike worlds collide"

Vault has been mentioned to be Dreamlike by devs. Partly as the theme of the realm, partly because it represents Night, and partly because of the implications it presents as skykids explore the realm.
Most notably is the realm takes place inside a mountain, yet when the walls are taken away, skykids are left in a void like space that seemingly goes on forever in every direction.
In the emptiness, resides what remains of the ancestor's ruined structures and floating islands.

It may be the realm's way of preserving what it has left after the Eden realm above it has possibly destroyed part of the mountain.
Or to reflect how the world is falling apart, but skykids are able to piece together the history and bring hope to the world with it.

nimble ingot
# nova meadow Speaking of the vault elder, what's the diamond shaped object they're holding in...

The Forest elder is also seen holding this diamond in the past.
They forged it in their cutscene, and in Orbit, they used to hold one in their hands in the past (while the model has changed and seemingly no longer has it, the actual model of the diamond can still be found in the orbit, it is just moved far away.)

The all elders cutscene even shows another power diamond, although it a speculation.
The mural for Eden shows the Eden Elder (A large figure that represents the elder, and is believed to be the King), holding an Orb.
The Orb could possibly be a piece of light, or as speculated, to be a diamond that has exploded (just a hypothesis, there is not much in game lore that helps this case, though the lore overall and concept art all tend to point in this direction).

wooden jasper

nimble ingot
#

Power diamonds were seeminly made by the ancestors and the elders alike. While the game just shows us skykids that the forest elder can forge them, the mural for them in the all elder scene shows ancestors were also part of the process.

While the elder and the ancestors messed up, badly.
It is unlikely that the elders are the villains of the game.

This is because the devs (including Jenova Chen) mentioned that they did not want the elders to be portrayed as the 'bad guys'.
Making an evil character is difficult to sympathize with.
Most villains in modern children's stories have some relatable traits, because it makes them more human.

There may be more that I can elaborate on, though in short.
The elders would most likely be anti-heroes at worst in the lore, though certainly not innocent given the series of events that cause the mess in the first place.

nova meadow
#

I'm not sure if there was a battle with forest elder, but there was definitely something that happened between them and the rest of the elders. I'd say it would be more reasonable that the elder was exiled. That's why they dont show up in the 5th quest. There's no sign of battle or struggle in forest's temple really, so an exile sounds more credible

Each elder represents a part of the Sky kingdom.
For example, Dawn brought boats (being they are a ferryman), Day brought creatures, Forest represents the diamond technology, Valley is the culture, Wasteland is the bravery/battle hardiness, and Vault represents the history and knowledge that the ancestors kept.

While there was a battle in the wastes, there is destruction seen in every realm, albeit it varies in severity.

Eden has it worse across the board, though that is also where the source of the darkness presides. Being that it is 'ground zero' it is a wonder that skykid can even make up there in one piece.

The lore is left open to interpretation for players to make of it as they wish.

When it comes to the lore, the new season pretty much sums it up.
It is a shattered and incomplete image of what the canon lore could be like.
Folks are welcome to speculate and explore the lore to their hearts' content.

What is clear, as how theorist on this channel have come to this conclusion in the past, how Skies Dawn in the moment, and how new users will in the future is this.
The world of Sky is broken, and the King did play a major role in it.

That is how it will be until the game, or the devs state otherwise.

I have a theory for the 1st seasonal quest ||jellyfish memory|| & about other animals

ancestor spirits, & animals are all creatures of light and when they got hit by flying shards from eden & instantly lost all their light, they 'die' and go to limbo (dark realm)

But the "animals" cannot ascend to the orbit like ancestors do (it is said at intro that the elders are helping ancestors, the other creatures of light weren't mentioned).

So they're stuck in the limbo forever and can never pass on to orbit as stars.
(what we see at the end of the 1st quest are the || memories of the jellyfishes that went to limbo yet can't move on ||

The true body? well they remain as stones we see at this season's new realm

Meanwhile animals like krills & crabs haven't lost all their light (since their eyes could still emit light tho not much). They just undergo mutations after being constantly exposed by the darkness and could live off small amounts of light.

yahallo lore chat, may i interest you in some lore that speculates around the nature of dark water / plants and how it affects both skykids and our ancestors alike? pPopcorn

#

For Context, I have made a pt. 1 on this theory way back during the release of TLP but I'll send a sort of recap here :

I had a theory and sort of observation regarding the way dark water affects both spirits and us skykids in game. Slouching Soldier's memory as well as the entire area where they are opened a probability that darkness affects a spirit's memories. I used Soldier's dialogue as a basis for this theory and my observation.

He says he "drinks to forget" and he is surrounded by dozens of big bottles of substance which i am guessing is the dark water. [In my theory, I believe that the dark water's side affects our ancestors experience includes amnesia. Which is also a factor as to why we have carry spirits in locations where lots of dark water / plants are around , especially in the second part of golden wasteland. Due to the dark water, their memories become hazy and difficult to relieve hence why they need extra help from us : light sources!]

rigid mural
dense fractal
#

Now, fast forward to Shattering. While the Q1 of this Season doesn't have that much to go by, it did have this one tiny detail that basically confirmed my observation. That is the light fragments that we have to collect in order to obtain the memory. We are supposed to retrieve light fragments from crabs to unlock the memory, yes? It made me wonder why the big red crabs were mostly attacking a mere memory instead of an existing skykid.

So i stopped for a bit (there were lots of us dw) and I saw that there was a lil timer thingy on top of the fragment and it goes down the more they attack it and THEN that's when it hit me that crabs in game don't just attack us because we are a light creature/source , they attack us because we are capable of holding a memory.

Dark creatures will do anything to destroy any source of memories because their objective is to corrupt. It would also justify why we get a creepy memory instead of an entire cutscene. the memory itself is really corrupted by the shards, hence why the area is also pretty dim. There isn't much to go by afterwards, but I think this is a really nice take on the role of darkness here in Sky!

#

These memories are soooo corrupted by the darkness that they don't appear like they should be. It's all hazy and difficult to decipher. Maybe because there's not much darkness in the Village Theater, we were able to interact with the memories of the Performance Spirits much better (like literally holding their hands and all) , and because of so much mucky water by the graveyard, it made Pleaful's memory so bad we had to carry him across the map to be able to see his memory pFIRE

this is just speculation of course, feel free to add on whatever y'all feel should be here OreoLove

frigid tinsel
#

Light does seem to be encoded with memory (spirit memories give you a bit of light) so since dark water takes light, it could take mess with ancestors’ memories too

hushed steeple
frigid tinsel
# rigid mural Ngl I personally don't think I need ages to tell a story; The only instance I do...

True, you don’t need to specify age to tell a story, thhough characters still carry that general vibe of how old they are. Experience and maturity are not age-centric, but they’re tightly correlated. There’s also some marketing crap in the publishing industry that’s set by character age. so I find it important for me to at least have an understanding of a character’s age.

I do dislike the thought that some horrific things do happen to children irl and can’t standing reading it myself — there are lines I won’t cross — so I understand the impulse to age up skykids for when they do deal with traumatic things. I just, as someone who’s original WIPs largely center around older teenagers and adults, writing skykids as kids is more of an exercise and a breath of fresh air. Kids handle things differently than adults. It’s interesting musing how that plays out.

frigid tinsel
# hushed steeple I agree on the fact that children sees the world differently from adults, in sky...

Skykids are kids — hence the name. Granted that’s not their canon name (iirc) though the player character is very childlike so it wouldn’t be far off from regarding them as children. Nonetheless they go through these horrible things such as Eden and the pressure of saving a whole kingdom — that’s a lot for a child.

Also you can have a paternal figure that’s not a “mother.” There’s no gender in Sky. Megabird, if you consider Them the paternal figure, is of multiplicity. Not saying you should stop using the term “mom” but rather to challenge of why any parental figure has to been deemed with “feminine energy.”

And I doubt the spirits are greedy and just see skykids as power sources — many seem friendly and skykids are friendly in turn. I sense no manipulation or ill will from the spirits. That would be antithetical to Sky’s themes of mutual love and compassion.

hushed steeple
#

I used the term mother to give a sense for what I was going to say, but feminine energy are the right words. Well their greedness led them to a certain death, by polluting their environnement. Maybe they don't want the light to pollute again.

If we give ancestor our light, following the lore, it's because light sent us there to link them back to "her" as they are her friends. Eden used to be the one linking them to light forever.

frigid tinsel
#

I’m not feeling well enough to go into the whole gender trouble, but worth noting that there are a lot of masculine parents and parental figures who have no lick of femininity. It is unfair to link caregiving as a “feminine” trait. Parenthood is more than just mothers.

We could argue how greedy ancestor civilization was as a whole, yet they faced their hubris with the disaster that could’ve knocked them down a leg. And just cos the kingdom had reckless pursuits for power doesn’t mean every individual ancestor was greedy and careless. There’s a theory that the war in Wasteland was a civil war between ancestors and Elders who fought to save light from the darkness pollution and those who defended darkstone technology despite the consequences. If true, then not every ancestor nor would every spirit we encounter is greedy, agreed with power diamond manufacturing, or disaligned with the sanctity of light.

I don’t think ancestors are deprived of light. They do have light, they’re just stuck in the world because of darkness. Darkness, as a force, consumes and holds onto light — too much darkness and light cannot move. Skykids then are sent to clear away the darkness (holding a candle to petrified ancestors or freeing mantas & butterflies from darkness plants, for example) so that the beings of light can continue moving and ascend back to the Light.

#

do you guys think that skykids have any sort of organs? i believe they have none except maybe a heart-like one that stores their winged light's energy and i think it's there too cause of the little heartbeat sound you get in some areas and situations. also although skykids breathe, snore, yawn and sigh, i am a firm believer of no lungs for skykids. they just mimic the sounds and body movements of what they see in the ancestor spirits since they probably believe the chest lifting thingy is a part of the expression. skykids are part of the #noorgangang

frigid tinsel

I personally ascribe to the “clayshell” theory, which views skykids as composed of a hollow shell that’s full of light. They don’t have organs unless you count their flame as an organ.

Despite the name, there are a lot of materials the shell is thought to be made out of, though clay is the most popular option.

#

My Working Theory on the Composition of a Skykid
–clothing, hair, masks & other cosmetics made of light.
–a humanoid physical shell made of some magic-induced earthen material (i.e. clay, stone, ash, charcoal, meteorite) that has a hole in the chest and eyes.
–this hollow shell is full of light, such as winged light and neutral light.
–their cape, a manifestation of winged light.
–their flame, manifesting as the light in the hole in their chest and held outside their bodies via a red candle.
–their soul, appearing as a blue sparkle.

I love your take on that; symbolically, darkness could represent immutability in the face of change; most of the time it just naturally happens (a rock that will take some time to be eroded by a river) but sometimes it's a quality sought after (a building withstanding time, someone that won't back down from a fight) and sometimes it's a hindrance (someone refusing to change their habits even if they are ultimately harmful).

Light could be seen as the opposite since it's quite literally a flow that goes from the farthest reaches of the kingdom to ascend to Eden before raining back down upon the world, much like the water cycle or tides. Light that keeps on changing hands, one life is spent as a fish, the next is spent as a bird.

However, I think they complete eachother. A balance must be struck between holding firm on your feet and going with the flow.

I borrowed a lot from your idea of how light and darkness can complement each other. It was a while back but I liked it so much it imprinted on me. Light in this game is often portrayed as a cycle and darkness holds onto light — perhaps, as often thought, they were once in a balance. We see the consequences of too much darkness but magine if there was too much light in the world — Things would change so much, there’d be no foundation for the security of home, no rest, being blindsided by so much alternation it’d be impossible to recognize anything or feel comfort in familiarity

Candles are currency on several levels, we use them for spirits and lights. They can even somehow become hearts? So basically they are important in several ways….
And I think each type of candle honestly has some type of meaning to it I guess… except Recording candles, those just are blue candles that help record events you are doing and White candles seem to act like them in a way…

About that writting, our child of the light has been sent from the light to link back the Elders with it. It was the purpose of the king, who abused of his power and ruined the "link-o-matic" light source.

Candles are a spirit common light pocket holder. That's why we are shaped like them, and has candle like them so they can be familiarised with us.

Elders link to the light isn't infinite and as the time goes by, with lighting everyday candles, some areas get enough light to reappear from the storm (usual cloud barriers) called season of adventure. We have a second purpose as repopulating the lands and recover them from the corruption, and maybe one day, calm the storm down.

hushed steeple

White candles honestly hold the memory of things in the past, murals is the main example of this. They are candles made by the spirits, us, and hold their purpose of sending a message. If Aether II Crab theory about those candles mean the deaths that died, then it would mean that a lot of people died…

hushed steeple
#

I also got a theory, that before our coming, spirits would have made the way for us go throught by drawing paintings everywhere.

And here comes the candles. As you can see, our core candle is red, red is an offensive color. As a proof, we use it to uncorrupt spirits memory and burn dark plants. So if we follow the use of red ones, it would lead us to a point that red candles has been placed to stop the Eden's storm on these zones, so we could go by and walk to the Eden.

The stars falling is a weird event because the game just. never explains it. in the switch trailer it shows stars ACTUALLY falling, so at least partially it’s an extremely literal description. However, the game makes no attempt to elaborate on how exactly this works, or what the stars even are, considering that’s something actual stars in our universe don’t do at all.

I like to think of it as a pre-disaster. Like the stars falling isn’t what killed everyone and isn’t what made Eden what it was, but it was the beginning of the end. I also believe the stars are implied to some extent to be the elders bc there’s always 6 of them, but again, no idea how that works or what that means in this context

YEAH THATS WHAT I THINK TOO… unfortunately I can’t think of any solid evidence to prove it. There’s a lot of assorted tiny bits in the game that made me think that, like the way you slowly start to see the lightseekers see light as more valuable through the realms and searching really hard for it vs laughing lightcatcher not caring when they don’t get it, but nothing super concrete

I can't exactly remember who, but someone mentioned that maybe the element of water was given to Rain to 'remedy' the effects of fire in their realm. Taking that into account, that leaves a lot of possibility for the Forest Elder pWow

Early theory on the memory we see in the 2nd stage of the shard quest.
Firstly we know that dark plants surround light creatures, from the manta in forest, and more recently the butterflies being released when we burn darkness with the latest update.
Secondly we know that the spirits were able to create memories of themselves, and from Performance they can store those for later viewing, and they are often surrounded by darkness (when we complete a spirit memory we "unlock" it from a dark shell).

Could it be the energy from creatures get "locked" into the shards of Eden, and so the memory we see after the quest is of the energy locked in that shard.
What underlies the power the diamonds used by the ancestors, is the nature of the creatures captured in the shard.

dry ivy
#

I also notice though how the void zone has an equal emphasis Dark and Light. One would think darkness is a negative force, but the limbo-space seems to intimate it might be something that must be in balance with the light force, like a ying yang kind of thing

(Which is something that has been discussed on here before)

dry ivy
# cobalt palm Early theory on the memory we see in the 2nd stage of the shard quest. Firstly w...

Really good theory. I was wondering what the memory thing meant!

I assumed too that perhaps it’s connected with the shards. The wasteland one seemed to focus on crabs, and I notice we collect these illusory light crabs until we see a single on on the shard meteor before it disappears (and the evil crabs—I call them zombie crabs lol—go away too)

Did we purify the crabs that were born out of this shard?

cobalt palm
#

Yeah, after nastymold I started calling them shard crabs, which describes them perfectly I think.
I wonder if the pieces you collect are memories of the smaller shards, and the memory in dark room is the one held in the big glowy shard.

rigid mural
dry ivy
cobalt palm

Not sure if there has been a black shard in live yet, so I'll wait to theorise on that aspect, but they are related.

dry ivy

Also notice too that there is an emphasis on how our skids are being affected differently in being injured by these shards

The season opening cutscene first shows the stone children around the big shard getting crusted over

And when we get hurt, now we look crusted over, and we crawl on the ground (which looks so sad augh pCry )

The layout of the 2nd section also encourages sacrifice to help others, as there are a lot more safe spaces, we used a rock climbers tether method, where one person would run ahead to get to the next safe spot, if they failed one of us would go out to relight them while a third in a safe spot would charge honk us from saftey

The shattering does make me wonder if the being that sent us on our journey to "bring the stars home" was just trying to continue the cycle of life, and not concerned with its affect on Eden, and ultimately the world.
Like a manager trying to push for a release, even when there are issues because of other pressures, and now it's in production, and the skykids are trying to patch the issues as they crop up.

It is making me think with that character flawed thinking that it is more likely the king, someone we know strove for power above welfare for those living, and now trapped spirits above those who remain.

One great resolution to this is for that hidden character to see what these short term goals are doing to the world.

This could certainly be used as allegory to the world in its current state.

This got deeper than I first intended SkyLOL

unrelated theory, idk if this is confirmed already heh
i think the sky kids' capes are made of light. after all, you first gain your cape after you collect winged light. plus, when you're flying and look down on the ground, your shadow only shows the shadow of your body, not the cape. i think the body (or at least the heart/chest) is made of some wax-related material. grandma feeds us wax so our flame can keep burning, aka so our life source doesn't go out. bless grandma tryna keep us alive pAww

my theory is that maybe the ancient darkness and ancient light were physical beings like the ancestors and that they were friends or at least they knew each other, but once Eden grew out of control, the ancient darkness 'won' a war against the ancient light

#

and the corruption of eden was so disastrous that it destroyed their physical bodies, leaving behind the husks we see in the new area [which idk the name of it, is there even a name for that place]

#

another idea i have is that the ancient lights and ancient darkness are not the same as the modern light/darkness. maybe the ancient ones weren't good/bad, but eden caused them to become that way

Personally, the seasons occur in real time for the skykids.
As the realms reset every day, eden every week, and there bekng 4 seasons in a year for sky. When the season of shattering started, skykied may have to deal with the shards from then onwards.

Think of it as fortnite's events. Where some of the changes to the maps and characters persist after the event ended.

Every season event and area that has ever been in sky, stays in sky. Treehouse, forgotten ark, sanctuary Islands, Music shop, and more. So I would say yes, those shards are gonna stay. The devs did say this season was a huge game changer.

Weird questions and findings ( more findings) but the "light" side of the spirits in the new seasonal area involve all light creatures apart from "spirit" or translucent ones, which would tie in with a theory i saw the other day with spirit animals being weaker and drained versions of the regular animals—That's fine. But on the "dark" side we dont see crabs instead we see dark plants. This confuses me whether it was just a design choice or something else to leave the crabs out even though i believe that they are considered a dark creature from what ive seen. This also makes me think why light blooms werent included, maybe because they are similar to the "spirit" animals that are weaker but this also makes you think of the deeper effects of rain and pollution of the animals. I also noted the size of the still maybe captured king jellyfish we see in the light spirit corner in contrast ofd the ones we see in eden. Growth is enormous however im questioning whether creatures and spirits in sky actually die from old age. Considering these mantas in prairie and sanctuary could be there for centuries. I also somehow ended up thinking about how the sanctuary manta doesnt go eden and stays unlike the similar ( i think from memory ) flight manta who leaves. Thank you and thats all for my dump 💜 SkyLOL Bobbit ^^

There are dark crabs, if you go to the caves at Forgotten ark. You will see a mural of how the stars first found the crabs after thier crash. Then you see murals of them running away. Seeing as the murals depict the crabs emerging from the contaminated water of wasteland. They are definately dark creatures. As for thier life cycle, skellitons of manta, and that huge white dragon can be found in forest and vault. Maybe just simply remnants of when the darkness invaded, so I don't think they die of old age. As I did the missions for sanctuary Islands, every time a bellbrang it summoned the manta from the depths of the ocean. Possibly hiding out of fear of corruption or death. However, the darkness isn't realy depicted properly. As you don't get dark manta, or dark jelly fish. In my opinion the devs spent more effort on the light side of the story than the dark side.

naive flare
#

I think because there are very specifically non dark crabs you can find on sanctuary, that was why there weren’t crabs for ancient darkness, to simply just avoid this confusion lol

Those are dark crabs In my opinion. If you knock them over, and pick them up, you will see the darkness dripping off them, like the crabs in wasteland. Maybe the crabs were always dark creatures. Like all crabs, scavengers, except these crabs in sky are more preditorial than scavenger. I would say let's just accept, they not dark or light, but somewhere in between, not like the red crystal crabs we seeing in this season, who seem evil to a piont. You can't even knock them over. BTW talking of normal crabs, have you noticed that if you knock a crab over, it's friends will rush towards it and help it back onto its feet. I've seen it a couple of times. It's too funny. But these new crabs are not as smart or as kind.

Since the new variant of crabs got added, I want to know if they'll help flip their non crystaline crustacean comrades.

A while ago, I had tested if the neutral crabs would help the dusty crabs right themselves and vice versa. They did, now I'm curious wether the crystal crabs will do the same, especially since they themselves don't flip over. Though, I'm not sure if there's gonna be any eruption in either of the areas with neutral crabs, prairie sanctuary and wasteland graveyard (not including office), so it might only be possible to do the test with the new crystal crabs and old dusty crabs.

They do not, I did mention it earlier not sure if it was on this group. The normal crabs yes, the new ones can't be knocked over at all. I lead them away from the shards and the dummies don't go back to their original starting piont like the normal crabs. I think even if we could knock them over, they would abondon one another in order to attack us, unlike the normal crabs who help each other before attacking.

Idk if it has been said but this is VERY old - anyways. What if the vault elder originated from forest - was the shaman and helped the prince? Then set the forest elder on her position (maybe sister or sth) which explains why the devs have said that those two elders are related. Maybe they were not originally similar but the stone had effects on them or something. Additionally it would make lot of sense for the forest elder to be placed in this position since she / they are not happy with what they are doing in the cutscene + maybe this was why the vault elder has guilts. It may have also been that the vault elder realised the risk of the power diamonds and retreated to the vault to keep information on them and on the sky kingdom as a whole ( i have pings off dont kill me)

#

To make my thought a bit clearer:

-> Vault elder originates in forest - is shaman - helps prince

-> starts using dark stone but realises how dangerous it is

-> retreats and makes a vault to store knowledge because she is afraid or sth.

-> in the meanwhile the forest elder takes her position in maybe inventing dark stone stuff while it was not her original purpose

-> This explains:
a) Why the forest elder is angry and doesnt like her job 💀(at least that is what i think)

b) Why the Vault elder has guilts and seems to have a tear on her mask

c) the fact that devs have stated that the two elders have some kind of relation

uncut pond
#

I believe Vault Elder, possibly being a scholar and all, probably comes up with all the recipes and instructions for what can be done with Darkstone by studying it and how it can be used, while Forest being a blacksmith has a talent for building and crafting things with the Darkstone
They compliment each other basically, Vault creates the theory and Forest puts it in practice
