hey lore chat just remembered a thought i had at like 5 am today but like
ts hints right
shell collector has one saying they do crab yoga
and that got me thinking abt what crab yoga might be and like
what if it’s like goat yoga
but crabs
Crab Whisperer teaches those classes
HELP
I'm more evil than you so I will win.
2/6 lightseekers would disagree
a pal said that instead of it being something fun like goat yoga w goat kids just jumping up on u n being silly the crabs just charge at ur ankles and it cranks up the difficulty
teaches resillience
I am going to run towards you with evil intent and feral moves
I didn't realize 'goat kid' meant the same creature, and thought sky kids would be doing that plus the crabs
I thought we were talking about the guy from undertale
skykid vs ankles
Turns out our kneecaps were not the chibis true target
Some things just seem to work better with art as a medium rather than writing and I need to learn how to draw
I can totally see skykid yoga but all the skids are chibis
most human kids don't like sitting still on principle, but skids seem like they'd enjoy it a lot
I had to hold back a scream
oh no, you'd have to do yoga poses while chibis are throwing tantrums and jumping on and off your back
So goat yoga if the goats hate you
do you think that’s what stretching guru has to deal with on a daily basis
I can totally imagine it's what Stretching Guru had to deal with during the home visit, though considering other spirits apparently say nice things about us, they might have enjoyed it
came here to angst about the earth trial but thats not important crab yoga is more important than angst
I still want to know about the earth trial
Lifting weights but it’s just a stack of crabs insteaf
bibble apostles 🤝 lightseekers in Alasdair's fics
they all suffer horrible deaths
idk how CW dies djsklfjsdfjds
HAIDUAODHWODH bibble…
Nobody in lorechat could spell
If I didn't have spellcheck I might die
Pointing at what they're already going through in DFT, that one might not be dead outside but they sure are dead inside
everything about the earth trial is absolutely horrifying if you think of it from a skykids point of view. it's a twisted unnatural labyrinth completely devoid of colour or life. the floating rocks don't act like floating islands- they drift around in a way that just feels dead. Lifeless. The sky would be bad enough if it was just empty, but that one little speck of light in a vast empty nothingness? A distant star, maybe, or just. the sun, far away and fizzling out.
The earth trial feels like the heat death of the universe and i think any skykid who's ever stepped foot into this particular trial needs five hundred hugs and some therapy. skykid HATE earth trial
nah they just got a taste for murder
my brother in bird i would too in their predicament
I was on team 'the sky kids treat these very serious trials like magical play grounds' but that is a neat as hell take
oh the skykids ABSOLUTELY treat the other 3 trials like a big fun game. i think the earth trial would give 'em nightmares for weeks tho
I mock the church with my cheer existence
you think skykids like Fire Trial with the darkness and murder worms?
Fanbase: -filled with bitter hate towards fire trial-
The sky kids love it tho!
yea i ran the trials today but chickened out of fire before i even saw a worm i couldnt. I couldnt do it! I just could not. however i think any skykid brave enough to push through the everloving heck that is the earth trial would have a blast with the fire trial
I'm sure there are some sky kids who love fire trial. Probably those who like puzzle solving and timing things.
in terms of the actual trial im sure plenty of skykids would have fun with the earth trial but visually? that's. i dont even think there's a human equivalent to just how horrifically messed up and terrifying it is visually. Its like the landscape version of those twisted distorted creepypasta faces to them
The air trial would be so, so much worse. Imagine the constant howling of winds
Much like the light, the wind is generally the sky kids' friend, and suddenly it's betraying them. I feel like a few of them would be heart broken after getting blown off.
the first three trials all have the same vibe to them that the elder cutscene rooms & limbo do… like empty. devoid of light. fire trial probably does as well but since it’s mostly underground it’s harder to tell; fire trial is more like a claustrophobic darkness than an all consuming one
nah these r skykids we're talking about the air trial would be very fun. getting tossed about like a beanbag with absolutely zero consequences because worst case scenario you'll just wake up again now that the trials are seemingly Not Gonna Actually Kill Ya
I doubt our skykids would be scared by any of the trial hazards yeah. They wouldn’t have a fear of heights or falling off the platforms like we do because death doesn’t hurt them permanently, and they don’t take fall damage. instead the void all around them is terrifying
yea the hazards themselves wouldnt bother a skykid i think its like. Specifically the aesthetic of the earth trial thatd mess them up? i dont know how to put it other than the earth trial's visuals scare me a bit. It just... it brings to mind the heat death of the universe rather than just an ominous, sacred test of skill
YEAHH I GET WHAT YOU MEAN ITS JSUT SO EMOTY
The trials have two main feelings for me:
Loneliness - Even besides fire trial, the atmosphere is all consuming around you if you don't enter with someone.
And innocence - Being vested of their cape brings to the forefront that skids are kids for some reason, especially in any base game pants.
i get that second part but i do want to chime in that i showed a picture of my now capeless skykid to a friend and they simply said "ferret" and i agreed
I get what you’re saying, it’s so different then the vibrant environments of Sky
behold! a mustelid of some sort, perhaps a weasel or a stoat
They really are
Isn't there some science thing where everything either becomes crabs or weasels?
If I threw a tennis ball I think that skykid would run after it & bring it back
that skykid is possessed by a dog
The colors are golden retriever-esque
you are 100% right about all of those things goggles is my obligatory Weird Dog skykid and xey would fight the ocean and win if it sounded fun at the time
carcinisation, and it's crabs
there is another one where it's weasels
I didn't know that! neat
mustelification?
any idea/theories on what this thing is suppose to be?
So I made uh.. A comic about an au I had which involves alef/resh (in the au alef and resh are the same person) and uh is it okay if I send it in #sky-fanart-sketches-and-art-chat
yes
They are moth eggs that will become skykids
can someone explain megabird and its significance i think i read about it somewhere before but i forgor
this thing btw? i was told its name is the megabird but idk
the giant light trial
Ok, now that moth is cute and chaotic
Well, its widely accepted as the god of the sky kingdom or smth.
But its just a theory, i mean almost all of the topics we discussing are theories anyways 😂
How did the community come up with the conclusion that this supercluster is the god of Sky?
Generally these things come from concept art, and mega bird is one of them.
and like, plenty of things in concept are definitely not canon now, and all concept art should be taken with a grain of salt, but the shape of the cluster gives megabird at least 'implied to exist' status
Theres also clues in hidden forest and wasteland, as well as valley or triumph that Megabird does exist ingame
Please elaborate
Megabird statues, there one in forest and wasteland, it has the option to teleport you home
Then in valley its a sculpture instead
Do you mean the sculpture at the beginning of Valley citadel?
Not sure in valley one, since its a small white sculpture of a bird with what looks like two tail feathers? Edit: Yep dark, that
But for forest and wasteland, forest its located in the forest bridges area while for wasteland its at battlefield the area where lookout scout is
That looks more like a sparrow to me, also it’s a deactivated old quest
The wind vanes of Sky are more of a reference than the bird return shrines
These statues (in forest and wasteland) origins trace back to light awaits iirc
I don’t remember, there used to be one in Valley ice rink too, they’re a relic of a time before return shrines were a thing
You mean the flight vanes? Or are there different wind vanes that I am not aware or havent realized before
No, I meant the bird return statues you mentioned
I was looking for an old screenshot but I found the Home portals in place of the return shrines at the beginning of each level, the only surviving one is at the true Vault summit
How old is this ? I can see a belonging cape, this is so wierd to think it's not Light Awaits.
It’s not, this is 2019 during Belonging
I was going to say this game must have changed a lot over 2 years but it's 2022
Time sure is passing.
So the home portal in the Vault summit could be interchangeable with a home statue ?
Oof why do i miss the home portal even though its not a big deal
I’d think so, not sure why it’s still there, maybe it’s more eye catching to moths
How it looks like a bird? They cookoo crezy
Hey does anyone know if the Elders have actual names?
I headcanon it to be a representation of the Forgotten Ark (since the Enchantment Crew look like they’re in Isle), but it could also just be a statue of an normal boat
The Elders (plus the king & prince) have names based off Hebrew letters from concept development that are no longer canon, though the fandom sometimes refers to them as such:
Isle – Daleth (ד)
Prairie – Ayin (ע)
Forest – Teth (ט)
Valley – Samekh (ס) (they share a name, though the fandom refers to
as Sah and
as Mekh)
Wasteland – Tsadi (צ)
Vault – Lamed (ל)
Prince – Alef (א)
King – Resh (ר)
Though it seems the devs refer to the Elders by the times of day their realms represent:
Isle – Dawn
Prairie – Day or Daylight
Forest – Rain
Valley – Sunset
Wasteland – Dusk
Vault – Night
Credit to @frigid tinsel
Oooo ok thank you so much!
Wait are the Prince and King separate being or the same? I’ve seen different theories/versions of events that say they’re the same person and others that say they aren’t
It’s unclear, it’s all up to interpretation there^^
Theories with them being different and the same, but personal opinion (supported by details in game.. at least I think these details support the notion) they are the same
Concept art of prince king corrupt king
I obly remember, forest elder was kind and calm at the past unlike now
I wonder how eden will look like if tgc went ahead with their idea that the king is an active element in our demise
No matter what name is given to the twins, it's always 2 syllables and it's always coordinated for
to be the first syllable and
to be the second
This would be a blessing to me if TGC went with the idea imo
I like hard challenges
Even if my soul dies everytime I lose one Wing
As cool as the idea is think of the Moths
Next season looks to be Eden-related, judging from the news posts and NetEase trailer, so
the Eden season everyone's been asking for
I Told You All But No One Lostened
I trust you dw, wsn't going to bet on it but i'm not too surprised that you have prophetic powers
if no one else got my back I know bird got my back
yes please mine hurts, if yours is any better i'd love to have it
Because it’s outright described as such in concept art, and the being described is visibly similar to the one shown above. It’s not a huge leap that they’re the same thing, although interpretation can vary. The name Megabird also carried over from concept art, even though the final version only barely resembled a bird
Hey lore chat, first of all I'd like to apologize to whoever was just doing their customer support job on that screenshot, but I'm slapping this last sentence in an obnoxious way on the wall because this means living things (at least players and/or their avatars) being the light is something TGC at least thought about.
And yeah, I know light can be used to mean something inspiring or good, but in this case, why "be the light" ?
Living things in the world of sky being like water in the river the light is... going in cycles...
because some see the resemblance between the Megabird we see at the end credits and and Laniakea Supercluster, which our Milky Way is a part of
"we are all one with the Light"
All souls are part of the Megabird. Each soul cycles through the
Human andSky World gathering experience before returning to the Megabird. We are all one and one is us all.
YEAH SO THIS CONCEPT DEFINITELY MADE IT TO THE GAME
Thanks but someone had already told me that the reason why people believe Megabird is the god of Sky is because of concept art. You probably misread my question
I'm tired and haven't eaten
Same brother
i personally took the original "samekh" name and split it into sah/mek (letters shifted around so it sounds nicer) then extended that into salyah and mekka (which dont rlly mean anything they just sound cool + friend helped come up w it
Hey lore chat I just did the trial of fire, any theories on the creatures that attacked me
The red eyed ones that were made of smoke particles
this realization made me rewrite some things
eating your writing
(2)
EATING YOUR WRITING
Hm writing is very delicious
Where can I eat read more of this exquisite writing
Now that I read this, any theories who created the trials?
I am starting to think megabird is a villain ever since im a lore moth i always knew megabird was sus but im not actually gonna consider megabird as a villain just a thought lol
worth noting the wriitng I post here is fanfic inspired by known lore but filling the many gaps within
Tbh there was a time where we created some theories and it really just all ended up into the conclusion that megabird planned all of this
(Without looking at the old intro) it was said that spirits created a home in the clouds
But the stars fell and darkness came
Ingame the first star that ever fell was alef (the prince, seen in ushering stargazers memories)
Alef was the one who discovered darkstone, and with this innovation darkness did come
Its general consensus (is it?) that sky kids are sent by Megan down to the world of sky
Going along this train of thought... It really seems that megan wanted to plunge the world into darkness and then send the current skids down
I have a theory that the elders needed a king because everything was going wrong for them so they made the trials to know who is worthy to get the four elements but none passed ,then a skid (the king) fell down the spirits then brought the skid and probably trained him and then he passed all yhe trials and then he became the king after that everything went more wrong for the kingdom lol .Anyways thats just my theory i have been wanting to say for 1 year
Hmm possible, they are in the cave of prophecies with prophets teaching other spirits (for what purpose? Probably this?)
i doubt Megabird is villainous – They very likely are acting on behalf of the Light thus ensuring the welfare of light beings. why then would Megabird allow or want darkness, which as a force consumes light and inhibits the light cycle?
Im just saying its sorta like that ingame without looking at concept art
Not saying its the absolute truth @.@
I don't see where you're getting "Megabird bad" from in-game
We talkin' about Megabird?
I want to ask something;
How many people have noticed this before? In the ceiling(?) of Orbit there's literally a constellation of Skids flying towards Megabird, how many of you have seen this before? It's really easy to miss
Many
Current intro, connect with ushering stargazers memory, and the whole alef discovered darkstone
Alef discovering darkstone is just concept darkstone doesnt exist in the game anymore unless were considering light miner its still unkown what killed her freinds but there are literally no presence of darkstone anywhere in the game
Darkstone is everywhere in the game...
...
You mean power diamond or eden crystal s or soemthing you call them
Yes many of us do call the power diamonds or whatever darkstone
darkstone is the raw material mined from the ground. it's blue. you can see chunks of it in Treasure Reef.
power diamonds aka refined darkstone are basically the batteries we give light in order to operate things like doors or the gondolas
Oh alright my bad
But it's still in the game
The discovery of darkstone is what made power diamonds possible..
O actually power diamonds like i meant the ones that are created by the creatures lights
Isnt that how its originally created or no im kinda stuck with old lore i used to chat here
Do you mean charged, or like the raw rock itself is the creature’s light? Because I think you mean the first, but Zhii means the second
Power diamonds are made by refining darkstone and infusing light extracted from light creatures
For the longest time I thought the darkstone Crystals were straight from mantas/light creatures (you can see diamonds on many of their heads), but the mining tunnels in hidden forest and the mine carts filled with unrefined darkstone in treasure reef disprove that theory. The octahedron shape is most likely just the best way to hold/project light, so both the creatures’ crystals and the darkstone have the same shape due to that.
if anything, that reads to me as Megabird sending down Chosen One or the child Stargazer discovered in order to help the world below. the prince discovering darkstone may have been unintended on Megabird's behalf.
we don't know how connected beings are to Megabird. I don't think Megabird and the Light, being up in space and all, are able to communicate freely with the world below it. though it's possible They could or the Elders could communicate with Megabird more aptly than ancestors and skykids can. Megabird may be a god, but They may be more of a demiurge, a creator deity who flings things down hoping Their plan works.
I will bounce off of this and say that while there is a technical difference, most of us still call the refined version darkstone too, so it’s easy to mix up Leon :]
Mhmm indeed, the theory is just entertaining a less acknowledged point of view, I personally dont believe it especially after seeing concept art
Extraction of light from light creatures
OOOOOOOOOOOoOOOOOOOOOOH this is why i should ask more questions to lore chat on what new theories and discoveries they honking made for 8 months i was gone here
In the concepts it was mantas stored in jars/pots/cages in game its now butterflies
Anyways i need to sneep snorp goodbye
butterflies in pots, mantas in cages
I dont see manta cages in game tho.. unless im blind
The forest elder cutscene!
i mean there are some blokes who hear "god" and go "this is definitely the bad guy"
Forest temple and the third(?) quest of abyss! First one is implied, second is obvious
Ah you mean those chambers in abyss? Im torn between them experimenting on mantas and extracting light from them
Or could be both TvT
They experiment, then extract? That could be a possibility
Yeah!! My guess is the second bc a darkstone mine is Right There. The refinery symbol is scattered around the island a lot too but I couldn’t find any refinery equipment, which is strange. it could have been buried by the water/rubble but still a bit odd to me, unless I’m forgetting something
HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS ITS SO GODO
The theory for experiment is that in the murals the more power diamonds the more flaps/wings/or whatever mantas have
Then theres culture chambers that sorta imply theyre breeding mantas in captivity. Theory here is that the more they spend power diamonds in experiments the more it gives positive results
Then underneath, the Leviathan. Leviathan an experiment gone wrong? Maybe or maybe its just there lurking
Notes: theories as to why theyre experimenting on mantas, I think it was mentioned before that mantas are beasts of burden, theyre experimenting to create bigger, stronger, and better mantas to support the ever progressing kingdom of sky
For the second theory its straightforward, more power diamonds need more light, bigger mantas = more light extracted
The theories could be mixed tbh
this is a draft on my Google Drive. I have an AO3, alasdair-pl, but there's nothing on there yet. I plan to finish edits on my Valley Elder(s) fic then publish that story first.
yea the Treasure Reef facility really has strong "science experiment gone wrong" vibes
Sidenote regarding extraction: as shown in concept art when extracting light from light creatures they actually... Dry up? Idk but there is waste left after extraction
A reason why pipes are prevalent in wasteland? And darkwater is actually made up of these wastes?
ik some debate the flesh-to-light ratio of light creatures and living ancestors, but you have a point there – light is extracted, but it's possible the bodies of light creatures don't disappear when all their light is forcefully removed. one of Zhao's concepts note that light creatures leave behind bones only if they die an unnatural death. while we can argue what an unnatural death is, I think being essentially wringed dry of one's lifeblood is an unnatural death that'd leave something behind.
which would also explain the massive bones in GW
I think thats the waste left in the extraction chambers 💀 iirc light creatures that die a natural death dont leave anything?
Well in extractions they technically do...
we don't know how much those concepts hold up to Live. I think it's worth considering. but yea, you can extrapolate that creatures that die a "natural" death don't leave anything behind.
Speaking of.... Gawd my brains on overdrive regarding sky lore
yea this is the concept art that says light creatures who die an unnatural death leave behind bones
I always believed the Prophets did it
With the concept that light creatures leave bones when they die an unnatural death they leave something
Then theres the battlefield with war, sunburst faction and the darkstone faction (I like to call em that 💀)
And then in the concepts it was mentioned that the battle was supposed to be a battle between light creatures and the ancestor spirits... But with the 2 different shields detail I think we can say thats not true anymore... At least not entirely
These mix of details has led me to believe that at some point a rebellion happened. This group used the sunburst design on their shields and the creatures of light sided with them
Then there was the side that stood with the King, those that used the diamond symbol on their shields
Another detail led me to believe that the wasteland elder, Tsadi, supported the rebellion (His shield in the temple and the cutscene is the octagonal sunburst shield, but in the constellation the shield is a pentagon one.. which for me is a sign that Tsadi switched sides)
How come i missed Prophecy lore
Wot
They were talking about it a while back. I love the season of prophecy
Ah yis XD
Prophecy lore good @.@
All Sky lore is good. Excluding ||~SUNGLASSES~||
I think everyday about how Twirling Champion could very well have been a warrior; their body type (on the left) is even called soldier in concept art, as well as their hairstyle being made to keep helmets in place.
So I have a question after looking at the Prophecy masks... Do Skykids, like... See? Visually? Because I suppose emotes like the
would imply it, but at the same time the masks seem to be the thing with seeing eyes, and the maskless mask shows that they kind of just have closed little slits for eyes. (Unless maskless is another form of mask?)
But it struck me because the Water Prophet mask has eyes that are on the side of the head, and it struck me because like... They glow like regular Skykid eyes. It originally got me amused by thinking "pfft, yes, my Skykid can't see in front of them anymore and now they don't have depth perception" but then I started thinking about it and I got confused. Is there any reason why Skykids wear masks in the first place?
I think some Valley spirits also have helmets in Light Awaits that were removed so we see the hairstyles they give us better but
Maybe skykids see through these masks due to light magic ? The capes do move differently from the way a normal cape would...
I like the theory most cosmetics are light projections, would explain the extinguished look and how we could see through some masks !
Also I've never seen these before, but wow, I love the idea of the capes, hats, etc., that hearken back to terra cotta warriors. ...Which, now that I think of the context of the terra cotta warriors, if the spirits did originally have these as part of their design, raises... Raises some implications...
(I mean, could also be my imagination that that's what they're going for, but still)
While this isn’t how biology works irl, I had the thought that skykids project light to see. The light coming out of their eyes allows them to see their surroundings. This is supplemented by the fact that honking and deepcalling emits light yet are used to direct and locate. You, the player, can actually see in dark places by the wave created by deepcalling.
Idk why skykids close their eyes when maskless. Sorta headcanony but when Dawn Elder in their initial cutscene reassembles their broken mask, they open their eyes. Perhaps skykids, in their mimicking fashion, thought “oh you’re supposed to close your eyes when not wearing a whole mask, I see” and just did it. Only did Abyss with Cannoneer and Commodore’s broken masks really challenge this.
I like to think both ancestors and skykids are like, living lanterns. Hollow inside with some light as their core. Would be on the same fantasy science level as talking trees so I don't think about anatomy details too much but yeah, I agree there's something inorganic in the composition of ancestors !
I will not lie, whenever I think about skykid biology my head hurts and I start crying, so at this point I am like “they can do whatever it’s ok”
Brain sees fantasy creature and goes “how does that work?” and won’t stop
What's with this vase?
A vase
No way
Why would we suspend our disbelief of a fantasy setting when we can overthink it into oblivion?
I totally agree with this. I love the idea of them being like little lanterns but I am not prepared to think about it on any deeper level
I like my lantern people idea
Leave that to me.
cries in anatomy doc
It’s an old inactive quest before global launch, it remains for some reason
The mental image of you immediately tearing up after volunteering is killing me.
Aw
Wish it was still intractable
You really picked the hardest and most frustrating topic to make a doc about didnt you <3
...Okay wait, that did not come out as intended. No, I was not criticizing your lantern idea, I was more making fun of myself and my tendency to overthink and then realized that it unintentionally sounded rude, I apologize
TGC leaves their unused assets sitting around like a toddler after playtime
The quest told you to only find it, not much interaction was involved
shushing light scholar is in there
I should have added a /lh (light-hearted) tone indicator 😅
I didn't get these vibes from you, don't worry !
That being said, my almost 1k heart savings are in that vase
Oh! No, you're good. All is well then

We could buy the lore Bible with all those hearts
Not again
I wish it was still intractable
It's taunting meee
Sticks out like a sore thumb
To some extent the skykids almost kinda remind me of, like, some of the ideas of mythological clay golems, so I kind of like the idea that it's almost like they're living lanterns. I guess the question is, though, what made them in the first place to be like that.
(Which I imagine lore already has an answer to — I am kind of a newbie at figuring out the lore, so I apologize
)
Why can't we like
Tip it over sometimes and get wax
That would be cute
Im having life realizations, but sky
Skids are already cats in human shaped bodies let us knock other stuff over
Some people like to think stars that fell (skykids or even newborn ancestors according to some theories) form a shell around them for protection, made from nearby earth !
Also don't worry, I think it's really cool the new mod is taking time to get to know the chats, anyone is welcome here
I wonder who those some people are. Certainly not anyone I know … /j
Listen we can't even handle keeping Grandma's cookies on the table without flinging them everywhere, do you think we should be allowed to push other stuff everywhere?
Yes
YESSSS I love knocking things off shelves .
Theyre cookies? I call em wax stuffed buns
We don't knock the stuff over
We get knocked over
Yea the golem aka clayshell theory is a commonly held one — that skykids are physically hollow asides from the light within them but their humanoid body or “shell” is made out of some physical material. While it’s called the clayshell theory, there’s a lot of ideas on what this shell is made out of
I've never been able to figure out what they are. They don't look like any sort of food to me — if we're being honest I can't get the mental image out of my mind that they sort of look like wasp nests
If Skid bodies are made of wax, wouldn't they melt over time?
Watch out, Alasdair is our walking library.
I jusy noticed boatgal is mod @.@
It's a fairly new development
I don’t believe they’re made out of wax since the whole wax theory derives off a fanon term that isn’t actually canon thus may not be true in universe. I mention is cos it’s one that many people think of
They remind me of pumpkins
If they put perfum/ cologne on would they become
Scented candles?
Ive seen theories that state that skids are made of wax, they need light to keep themselves moving (heat melts wax therefore less solid) and in eden we lose that light therefore we solidify
A lot of holes but that's what the person said
There’s a quip somewhere from an interview where Jenova Chen is asked what skykids’ favorite food would be and he answers “light mochi.” I just assumed that’s what Granny makes
.... This changes things
My Skykid be eating cuisines I've never even tasted
Someone said they look like baos while they look like beignets to me
To be fair they only eat one 💀
A thought about the clay: clay can harden into something that's practically stone-like. Thinking about Eden, it's almost like... When we lose all our light, our clay hardens into a stony, cracked crust over us.
Hm.
Mochi is a real food, it’s just not made out of light irl
Yeah
It's not available where I am
Literally what that guy in the theory I read stated :0
Not literally my bad, you said clay dude said wax
I've had mochi ice cream, it was pretty good!
It’s like the light and the magic that sustains them is gone, taken by darkness, and subsequently reverts to its nonmagical properties
Huh, we have a similar treat named Sufganiyah here
Now Im hungwy
Me too
Good thing I just ate burned grilled cheese
Its 3 in the morning and im craving for strawberry jam and plain donuts... TvT
||Psps time to sleep||
May I recommend salt and peppered apple slices ?
Good thing Grandma is almost serving, in 15 minutes
NO
It sounds kind of like lava, it can move when hot, but once cooled enough, it becomes hard and solid!
||pspsps you first smh||
do you have a debuff to your ability to make grilled cheese without burning it or something. This is the third time in three days
Maxed out trans stat, grill cheese dump stat.
||But it's only 1 AM? /Lh||
I will, though
this sounds absolutely disgusting but i'm actually considering trying it
The Valley Elder(s) like it. Dev confirmed
- trans stat
- lore memory stat
- quail identification stat
- grilled cheese making stat
I just wanna know what sort of thing Grandma is putting in those things as filling, cause they seem to be highly explosive when exposed to fire
Wat
Why is so spicy
NOT NOT ANOTHER PERSON . DONT DO IT DAHLIA.
But I didn’t do it that time
...I... I am begging you, please tell me about this quail identification issue, I need to hear the story behind this
Spinning Mentor
he keeps calling quails chickapeeds. Chickapeed isn’t even a real bird. It happened like four times
4 times huh
it's for science
Darkfruit jam
H-how many times are people discussing quail chickapeeds in lore chat??
I dont recommend it... My appetite is ruined /Hj
It's from my server tbf
spinning mentor came and everyone got quail masks that is when it started…. The apocalupse
Ooooooh, that makes more sense.
Apoquailypse
Boatgirl rn
I.... Maybe thats why they slim they dont eat much because of this diet
Debatable
Ash is alright, just dandy
I love the implication that salt and peppered apple slices are all they eat
Ash is fine
At least it’s not cheetos milk
It’s happened a few times in game
their parental figures dont love them || /j ||
Do apples even exist in Sky?
Fruits definitely do !
Do they even have parents
Megabird

going to be honest i just did it and it's actually not that bad
don’t worry boatgirl at least it’s not cheese in coffee
Megabird didnt love them, that's why they're in Valley
Pizzamilk
I respect you so hard rn
What came first, Valley or Valley Elder(s)?
performance guide to performance guide conversation
... HOW--- youre built different I am recoiling
I got some cheetos puffs by my nightstand…
After one glitch I got where the confident sightseer's kid spontaneously disappeared during the cutscene so the spirit just spun around hugging air and then tried to put nothingness on their shoulders as they stared out into the distance, I really just think Valley has an issue with parents in general
Valley?? Considering its a land formation- the Valley Elders probably helped make it what it is now
I’m gonna bite yall /j
Valley of Triumph: For problemed children and their problemed parents
Now this affects how i see season of dreams
Regret.png
WHY did you do that
We gathered here today, to mourn the passing, of Dark
WHY NOT?! For SCIENCE
yall dont like cheetos milk? shame
Lore chat has one braincell and it bounces around like a ping pong ball as each of us commit food crimes.
Okay, listen, I'm scared. Genchat just tries to eat things like chibis and moths and krill and stuff, and occasionally I have to tell them to stop doing stuff like eating sand or bugs. Y'all people actually make me imagine real-life food horrors like these.
Nah, it's hot potato with the braincell
this is so true I heaed about a kid getting sold to the valley eldars once
Maybe the puffs absorbed too much milk, I’ll try with jalapeños cheetos next time
Pilk isn't that bad tbh.
The best part is that we are commiting food crimes on food that people usually eat
Krills are a delicacy tho, change my mind
Lorechat food crimes:
—cheese in coffee
—salt & pepper apple slices
—Cheetos in milk
Honorable mention: sour candy incident
Staring at you with a mixture of disappointment, fear, awe, and disgust
HELP DYING SLAUGHTERED
Coward
Valley elders are now known for their food crimes /j
Megabird despises them because of this
Unsurprising, they’re French
eden pop rocks
Haha just like. Just like s
i'm warming up some barbeque pizza rn (it's delicious) i will seriously eat whatever
...And yes, I did actually have to explain to people in genchat that eating non-edible objects such as sand and toilet paper (clean, thankfully) is a bad idea. I'm never going to get over that.
HHHHHHHHHH
Don't worry, they're dead in my fanfic.
I have eaten (clean) toilet paper before. Multiple times
Why are you telling us this
Thank you so much
See, that's just, like... So much worse. Krill probably just taste like badly-burnt shrimp or something, idk. Cheese in coffee is just horrifying.
this is not the first time alasdair has deigned to disclose this information
Howd that go for you
I was a weird kid whose digestive system didn’t hate them back then.
NOT YOU TOO
Cheese in orange juice after brushing teeth
I have a feeling that the Vault Elder tried to organize a potluck and the Valley twins showed up with some horrid abomination that one could call food
Let's just say- there wasn't a potluck after that
Im planning to drink coffee... Theres some cheese in the fridge
Boatgirl is likely the only normal person talking here
Keep us updated
...Okay, thankfully, you grew out of it. Like, I ate paper as a kid too, but there's supposed to be a point where people stop needing to be told that people don't tend to eat toilet paper
she made the dubious decision to talk in this hcannel: she is not normal.
No, you have to put the cheese in a hot beverage so it melts and mixes with the coffee. If you want to get around that, you can put butter in orange juice instead, since it’s already liquid cheese
I heard Starbucks used mayo as a secret ingredient in their drinks.
I think everyone in lorechat has a few screws loose and thats what makes the magic happen
DTYFGJFUKTSET
Hmmm, you have a point
Tbf she's a new mod so it may come with the job.
There are some mods who never set foot in these cursed lands
yeah. they shouldn't. look what we do to it.
Ahhhh do I also put cream and sugar in too? Or pure black coffee
Idk if that was a Freudian slip or a typo
That was a typo… I thought it was a pun
You overestimate my sanity — I have terrible judgement in life, I just have the ability to 1.) tell other people to make good life decisions and 2.) not eat toilet paper
the bullying never stops........
And I think youre hungry
Food
It depends @frigid tinsel which one do you think is the most accurate to the original joke
If the elders had a potluck:
Vault elder would bring cookies
GW Elder brings crab legs
Valley twins bring a horrid abomination
Forest elder brings rock candy
prairie elder brings salad
Isle elder brings sandwiches
there is so much happening, hi
Welcome to the food hague, what's your violation?
best response
I think Wasteland wouldn’t just bring crab legs, probably the craziest seafood boil you’ll ever get the chance to taste in your lifetime
Nah, it's not a requirement, I just have been curious and have decided it'd be nice to spend more time in some of the other channels
Since this is a primary test, the ingredients should only be the two that were intinitially hypothesized
I’m going insane does anyone need anything
a soda :]
Seafood stew perfected with the element of fire
Serious question here, if the seasonal guides had a potluck, who brings what?
a braincell
I don’t think someone named “the burger” should be here rn, they might get eaten
Id like an advanced test please
Unlike the other people here I am Completley normal and so I eat normal things. Like rice and fruit 💛

Pls no
I vote that grandma brings... Uh...
Anything that is not spherical cookie things, uh, gimme a moment here... /j
Soup :)
Grandma brings bread
You eat rice with fruit?
SEPARATELY
Granny brings those old candies like peppermint and melted chocolate from two decades ago
Completley
Rhythm and Performance guides just worked together to try to bring something- both of them don't know how to cook and that's my headcanon
Dont know how to cook they give a feast for the eyes and ears with their grand performance
Listen, if I was in genchat rn, people probably would have tried to eat boats about 4 times now. I don't know what's wrong with them on that whole boat-eating issue, but I like this chat. It's a good change of pace to not have everyone constantly try to eat me.
Rhythm guide gets takeout for dinner and Performance guide lives off instant noodles.
Enchantment crew would just bring one of many rice dishes, it’s enough to feed a village & no one will leave with an empty stomach
Oh my gosh that looks delicious
Frantic stagehand has to cook for them since they keep telling Performance guide that they cant live off instant noodles
Something with mushrooms
enchantment guide banned from making soup due to the Improperly Cleaned Cauldron Incident
everytime food convos come up abt sky i always want yhe ancestor bread, everywheres got some version of bread i want to see their breads
Why must you make me suffer with food
Im gonna open smth to sate my hunger
Anxious Angler brings so much sea food, no one goes hungry and everyone smells like fish
Abyss guide brings fish of course
He was tired, cut him some slack
Okay, here's a question: apples and peanut butter. Is that normal or horrifying?
Oh my god that is too sweet... I like to imagine Forest (and Wasteland spirits, for a time) tend to be generous because they live in harsh environments and thus rely on eachother.
genuinely really good
I dont think forest is harsh 💀
prophecy guide brings a mouse they caught
acid darkness rain would like a word
I think theyre the portable foodmaker
Fire for cooking, water for water purposes, earth for spices, air for cooling
Clearly you don't remember facing it as a moth with barely 3 wedges
Rad, cause now I'm questioning my judgement on things I didn't ever question before
Ok what about peaches and cottage cheese I can’t be the only one right
We sauté hand-picked mushrooms with onions in olive oil & eat it with bread, it’s so good during the winter. They might bring it along too
.... Point taken
Grilling cheese on prophecy guide
I’d burn it
Id like a burger.
Fire Prophet
Okay so, if all the seasonal guides got together, what do you think would happen?
Furry convention
Group therapy
Furry convention. No questions asked
I think there’s a lot of fanart with that premise…
Group therapy tbh
didnt know that, thank you
Possible Flight and Sanctuary guide’s might’ve meet in life
Grandma brings snacks so it's less awkward
group furry therapy
The best of both worlds.
Enchantment guide being left out of the group, Sanctuary guide with his failed wooing of chill sunbather, prophecy with being the only one left(?)... What else
isle of dawn spirit that brings sand
I have a lot of headcanons about spirit relationships and friendships
“I was cold & light… I couldn’t move, I felt stuck…”
“Wow that’s crazy, what’s your fursona?”
“Oh, it’s a sand cat…”

grandma adopted every skykid and spirit, convince me otherwise. They are all her children
Mother of all
Grandma, mother of all cue boss music
She was referred to as “Grandma” in game I’m sure during the season, she’s the only Ancestor we refer to as such, so it’s definitely true
I just popped in genchat first thing I see "I wonder how fried moths taste like"
Walked into typical lorechat discussion right now
Average genchat discussion
Sources told me they taste sweet and like fruit :-)
"Fire and radiation" -my sister upon me telling her that
Youre probably the source arent you
cannot confirm or deny this
Whats radiation taste like 💀
Like the sun
but yeah all the guides need therapy. I feel so bad for enchantment guide especially with the whole way the murals on the ark implied they died first in the crash and had to watch everything else happen and didn’t know what to do about it
It’s cos xe’s a krill
Do not listen to this false and slanderous rumors
Im more focused on the fact that alchemy, herbology, and carpentry exists
Ill check on it when Im able to play again
Just because alasdair couldnt determine a quail doesnt mean he couldnt be trusted
SNOOZING CARPENTER FACT: they don’t even know how to be a carpenter .they just manifest all their work with purple light and pretend to know what they are doing.
Maybe that’s why they’re always so exhausted, (purple) hand-weaving alchemy is so much easier but it takes so much energy to maintain
At least they have successfully manifested what they want
I cant even manifest getting a good nights sleep 💀
I have two alchemy systems, hand-weaving & tool-assisted, like how the Lightseekers light catching is also tool-assisted (it’s caught with staffs at Prairie, but the Lightseekers have developed more tools to make it easier to catch by hand)
I feel like I could explain this better but I’m not a good writer
Do lightseekers catch light? The only memory I have with catching light (with staffs) is laughing light catcher which is a standard spirit
During the sapling quests, they show up to tease light from the saplings
Now thay you mention it, true.. lightseeker spirits are always the ones near the saplings
Yeah, they control it by hand unlike the light catchers at Prairie, I personally think they’re a private group of professionals from the same family, so they’re all related
love somatic magic so much
the neuron is activating for magic systems I am going brr
Hand-weaving is an ancient system but it’s still being practiced by certain families, the easiest form kids are taught is snap fireworks, just for fun
are confetti and sparkler extensions of that principle
Nope!
Tbh i always thought confetti emote mightve been flowers instead
i mean to be fair being able to manifest flowers from your hands is kinda wild but
It’s only prominent in certain families
Like, yk those little puffy ball shaped flowers? The confetti reminds me of those
This is really out there as an idea, and there’s not rlly a basis for it to be true or false but maybe you need to be able to break down something to understand what it is and use purple light to create it?
I think that’d fall into headcanon territory though but id been thinking abt that for a while
Law of Equivalent Exchange 😳
Unless I’m misunderstanding, xe was just saying that as a joke/funny comment
“It's a simple concept: something cannot be created from nothing, and so in order to obtain something, something else of equal value must be lost.”
Ye ye i did wanna share that tho
OH WAIT i misunderstood YOUR message, my bad! I do like that idea Luka, and it makes sense. For example one could manifest something that looked like a watch, but unless they understood watch-making, the insides would be all messed up and it wouldn’t actually work.
Its ok, dw! And yes exactly
I guess it quite literally makes knowledge power in a sense
Because it’s not just a magical wish of “I want a watch!” You’re still MAKING the watch, so you have to know what it is you’re making. The difference is you’re not putting it together piece by piece, but drawing it into existence.
I was also thinking if this principle applied to the other lights. Probably not but also blue light in particular is like:…
It’s supposed to purify water but when Alchemist tried using it it didn’t work and i really wanna get to the bottom of why it wouldn’t work
Like, do you have to understand what’s wrong with the water to make it right with the light (rhyme!)
Ohh yeah that’d make sense too, I like your thoughts
Thank you! I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately for some skykid tribe worldbuilding of my own so
Maybe it was beyond saving? Didn’t have the correct tools? Too weak? That’s where I say that it requires a lot of focus when it’s only weaved through hands
Enchantment guide is no longer around either & it seems they weren’t relying on their colored lights to scavenge the area
Also snoozing carpenter is a good cook from what I remember of hints
That makes sense too.
That’s all i kinda have to say i think i exhausted my braincells
If you notice the blue light he used in the memory cutscene is a lot smaller than the one achieved through the quest
Oh wait yeah
It’s probably what he only had left within him, so they probably filtered the water through a much more complicated process somewhere off-screen
Imagine how disappointed he was… o u c h
I mean, he was indifferent
THAT EMOJI?????? 💀💀💀

Dark how dare u not put an ⚠️ AESTHETIC ✨WARNING☣️ on that! I almost died of aesthetic-ness

dies of too much aesthetic
If the kingdom of eden was closed/blocked from being accessed after being corrupted by darkness, how do the spirits of the Season of Performance have an eden scenario?
- Certain Ancestors could’ve survived the initial blast & sustained themselves long enough to document it
- Sky children could’ve worked closely with Stagehand to provide descriptions for the backdrops
- Boring answer: it’s for the sake of gameplay
Pick one!
Def number 1
I’d say 1 too somewhat. Given the WIP backgrounds in stagehands(?) little paint room the eden diamond is shown as purple right?
Also alternatively they continued to learn about what happened AFTER they kicked the paint bucket
I think Ash said it was 3, but liked the idea of 2
Wait yeah. Ash said it was there for players to have for storytelling in eden right?
That shouldn't stop anyone who really likes number 1 tho, was just sharing info
It can definitely be a mix of 1&2 also
The most likely ancestor to document it would be the vault ancestor or someone else documented the event and it is being kept as a book in the library section of vault
Actually yk what i wish they had? I wish they added more backgrounds than just one per realm… like, wind paths are VERY different from the rest of forest AND prairie so there’s not really a good way to depict it. Same for a lot of areas, like Starlight Desert, Prophecy Caves, etcetc
Does vault actually have a library of books? I thought most information was stored into those lamps
holographic touchscreen interface
Next Sky Update: A second leaver with the back drops and cycles thru 6 sub areas
I was thinking they’d just add em into the main cycle. Which would be tiresome but worth it
I finally finished performance and even though I already saw the end I liked Rhythm and Performance being bros :]
It'd be faster to split them tho
Kamilico: It's nice to finally meet Rhythm Guide officially. I wasn't here for Rhythm
Yes, but it also doesn’t really have that many books readily visible. I think the lamps are the main means of storing info there, and in the Archives they’re sorted into compact cubes
At least thats what I presume those huge blocks are for.
I imagine those characters inscribed on them are letters so its like “Hey can you go find so and so memory cube in category 3J”
True. I think there’s a high probability most of the answer to our question are in vault because well it’s called vault of knowledge
All this knowledge… but we can’t read or even activate the memories
I do hope we get more than statues and pictures of the lore Because it’s hard to understand it but that’s also the fun of it so we can speculate about it
Childproof
(Understand the lore) instead of understand it
Maybe one of the spirits can help us read the ancient text
I think it was supposed to be image holograms and not even need text but like most sky lore guess that was cut. Thrown outta o window.
Hey so ive had something bugging me for a while & I'd like to know yall's thoughts on it.
What does the Kingdom grow for food? We know they need to (or at the very least like to) eat based on the roasted crabs that spirit makes in the golden wasteland but besides that I don't really know any evidence to indicate that they ate food besides that.
Scarecrow Farmer attempted a farm at the Forgotten Ark and, given by the even rows, might've tried to grow a standard agricultural crop like wheat.
Granny's mochi might've have a non-light equivalent in life. irl mochi requires rice flour, so perhaps the ancestors grew rice.
now I want a seasonal area to feature rice paddies. Season of Agriculture when
rice paddies can be such a unique sight too
ok correct me if I’m wrong but wheat is not something I would guess. like if I had to plant a survival crop it would be something like peppers where I can literally just grab and eat it, not have to process it further to make it edible. I know this is nit picky but
My brain was still on “standard agriculture crop” but yea it’s more likely Scarecrow was trying to grow something that just be eaten right plucked off the stem like berries or grapes. That or require minimal preparation like pumpkin
That or something that grows and fruits quickly
Oooooo
Do children of light come from the stars? Or is there speculated parent of some sort?
Most likely stars! They have been called descendants sometimes, but that seems more like a metaphorical than genetic thing :}
It’s a really common theory/headcanon. Unfortunately, we can’t dissect skykids so it’s a bit hard to prove, but the sounds they make on surfaces like stone, how the earth seems to form around them when they fall as stars, the petrified skykid shells in Eden, and the way light shines through them makes most people go “they’re hollow and made of [x hard material].” Clay is the most common one but I’ve also seen stone, meteorites, and hardened wax as guesses!
I go with clay/mud because it makes the most sense to me, but imo the material doesn’t really matter, just the general “hollow with light inside” concept
Oh interesting!
it's also possible whatever material they're composed of to be enhanced due to magic, giving it properties superseding what we're used to of them. for instance, clay is rather fragile irl and shatters easily, but skykids are very hardy
clay also isn’t sentient and can fly around
That’s what you think, but… are you watching clay all the time? If not then how would you know /j
you got a point 👀
I have never seen one irl even though i live in phillipines heh
Hello beloved citizens!
Mood
Anyway Lore chat I got a question that's been on my head ever since i discovered about it.
In the avatar changing area, there's this 'no mask' option most of us are all aware of and know. And when we use it our eyes our closed but most importantly:
why is our faces as dark as voids?
I need answers
skykids are dark skinned. while the color changes depending on their base outfit, it is always a dark shade.
I thought it was because of the fact they had a mask on and their eyes are literal light, light can burn (plus the skids known for diving at anything with fire) so probs very heated like toasters to the point it affected their bodies and went to the eyes--the holes in the mask for them to see was a bit too small so the heat just spread on their faces and now they look toasted
/j /j
This reminded me of the concept art of Sky Kids with fairly light skin and it was so bizarre
Hold up that's a thing?
Yeah. I can't find them but the photo has three or so Sky Kids that have light skin. I don't think they're wearing masks in the photo, just an empty face but with eyes that have a blue glow to them
Anyways now that I think about it, it's probably not official hence why I can't find it
Any of these?
(I had this saved, I remember getting it from this channel a while back)
None of them sadly
The photo with the blue pajamas kid found to the far right has a similar art style to what I remember tho
i always thought that this tower in GW is the vault. and it didnt sit right with me, since it's too small to reach the top, Eden. and honestly i just now noticed that there's no landscape behind this structure. it's a huge wall. oh boy. the vault is big
Vault is inside eden mountain
lorechaat I'm sorry but Manta Dad will be in camp for the next two weeks so I won't be able to provide you with stupid questions and gay headcannons 😿

Stay safe
Can someone help me take picture with the new rainbow flower 2022 with all hairs please..
There is no hope in outfit request because it isn’t out yet and I dont think we can spoil it in live

We can't spoil here either
tsk tsk
Since it has not yet been in the live game, you may ask the beta gang if they would like to help with that. 🌈 ✨
Thank you. I will try ✨
Unfortunately you can’t ask for outfit requests in beta either, it’s against the rules of that section. You’ll have to wait until either live release or ask elsewhere outside this server
I see. Thanks for explaining. 👍

I have a quick question
What are the wing light? Are they the same spirits we find in the open world or are they different? Cuz the spirts we find in the open world allow us to express our feels and emotions. But the wing light help us fly higher.
They’re different then the spirits, but we’re not sure what exactly they are.
I think they’re simply powerful concentrations of light placed by the Megabird (a powerful light entity in Sky)
Ahhhhhhh okay
my theory is that they're spirits of skykids, as they resemble us in orbit, are similar shapes, and are called children of the light
and they give us winged light like how we give winged light to fallen skykids in eden
They’ve been referred to as “imprints of the children of light” so
Since winged light are imprints they are merely the impression of skykids, not skykids converted into something else but something their presence has left behind. One cannot become winged light, but one or more skykids do make them by just existing in the world in addition to some other factor.
One theory suggests they appear where many skykids have been and coalesce into winged light, like creating a well-treaded path in the woods by many footsteps — hence why they appear in the same spots. In-game they may be in the same spot for gameplay accessibility but in-universe they could land anywhere.
ahhh
that makes sense
Unrelated, I’m a little torn, would the arabic dub Aladdin’s Jafar be a suitable voice for Enchantment guide, especially the first 2-3 voice lines in the following clip: https://youtu.be/RholMZEvSDI
Thoughts?
Translation:
”You’re late.”
”What did you do/what have you done?”
”Don’t ever worry, my friend…”
My personal headcanon is that those imprints come specifically from the petrified children in Eden
Those WL might be the memories of those children and we collect them the exact same way we collect the parts of an ancestor's memory as we relive it, and after gathering their memories they can ascend in a similar fashion to ancestors
I believe this also ties with the post-death scene and with both "king is the diamond/inside the diamond" and "skids are fragments of the king" theories
You may check out eden murals and a world map in concept arts
Also you can see it right after you get out of vault in Eden and also in the post-hug flight scene
I AGREE WITH THIS IDEA especially bc of the “return the light to the fallen” pnr splash text. The WL also feel like memories do in general before you light them, in terms of all being in the same pose. The only difference is that they’re frozen looking around at their environment instead of kneeling.
I’m guessing it would work the same general way as ancestor memories too, with the caveat that you don’t have to relight them at the end bc their shells are in Eden instead. Like, those are the imprints those skykids left on the world, like spirit memories, and you collect them to reunite them with the body and ascend them
YEAH I'M SAYING LIKE
That Light is theirs, it's their memories and you're reliving them to help them ascend
And this also ties with King is Diamond theory because EVERYONE, you, the Fallen and the Ancestors all can only possibly ascend after the hug scene, whoever you hug in the diamond has the power to make the Eden beam function correctly and make everyone ascend, I believe when the light and dark kids hug and fuse, that fusion is like a combination of all the Fallen in Eden including you and the King themselves, that glowing skid you control during the hug scene in the void is everything that's left of the King, but for some reason it shatters again after trying to leave the diamond and the King perpetually remains inside there
My personal theory obviously and I have no real evidence but the idea of all working together as one to escape the storm fits too well with Sky's theme of teamwork and friendship
Although now I just had a very funny(?) idea
If all the skids are the king doesn't that mean they're only ever socializing with themselves and therefore the theme of the game is "you don't need friends just believe in yourself"???

Eden in its glory days
Don’t give the french this much credit
Went “wait, this is in France?” so reverse image searched and

Hello everyone, Ive only been playing Sky for a year and I’m trying to dig deeper into the lore. Any tips?
Pinned messages have links to concept art and dev livestreams. While the canon of stuff from concept art is debated, they can fill the gaps about Sky lore given the dearth of concrete content in game.
There are a few lore docs floating about. While they’re outdated and dubiously sourced, they can be a good start.
Otherwise, I’d recommend just asking the Lorechat lads here specific questions, Discord search up terms you’re curious about in this channel, or chill here and consume whatever convos float by here.
Okay thank you!
The biggest tip to everyone who is getting started into lore is:
Ask anything you want to know, just don't be afraid. Chose something you wanna talk about and just ask about any doubts you have
And also keep in mind we know about as much as you do probably, most of the lore in the game is "up to interpretation" and very, very few things are confirmed canon
Ye
A very good chunk of everyone’s headcanons is pure speculation
In the dark room of eden when you die there is a bgm that plays and someone found the name of it back in the days. Anyways does anyone remember what was its file name again?
Oooof I want to say it’s called something like exhale? It’s either that or the song right after, good luck
https://youtu.be/kgnMugdh6ZE was it ‘Lost and found’ you’re looking for?
Or is it this one?: https://youtu.be/BsGDdaQbkrQ
dont mind me just- using this as a reference for my minecraft recreation of Eden castle-
Hope these can help too, good luck :)
Thank you! But I'm already referencing the base of the castle :> It's been a very enjoyable build so far by so far, I'm procrastinating the outside-
This style of architecture rocks
Love when castles look like this
I feel like I've seen that castle before
Anor Londo from Dark Souls
I knew I recognized the layout >:D
Also, while not as similar as Anor Londo, Castlevania gives off similar vibes to Eden Castle/shares a similar architecture style imo (but way more exaggerated/stylized)
Idk I just love castles in videogames they always look way cooler than the real ones and they're always iconic locations in those games
Videogame castle appreciation gang
also here's a snapshot of the Eden castle full restored from an IGN video on early Sky development
Makes one wonder how Sky used to look like restored.

IT LOOKS SO GOOD 😭
bounces excitedly
the animation >:D
That is... Very pointy.
interesting that you point out how pointy the restored castle here is cos that reminded me of one of Zhao's concepts wherein entities on the light side of the continuum would be shaped more rounded or "organic" while entities on the dark side of the continuum would be shaped more sharp and pointed, ultimately jagged.
darkstone and darkstone tech, existing on the darker side of the continuum, is often more sharp and pointed. perhaps the Eden castle, in its exuberance, could only exist because of darkstone technology, an indication of the ancestors relying less on light and unintentionally strengthening darkness

serving my point, krill aka dark dragons are composed of jagged points
I still feel like krill are squishy underneath everything spiky
I think I solved the crab aggression lore. (I suppose it has been discovered before, though am proud of myself for realising this)
Crab mentality is when a group would prevent an individual from breaking away from said group in hopes of finding a better place of advantage that the group cannot have. "If I cannot have it, no-one else should."
This makes the crabs become jealous, envious, spiteful creatures.
The ones in sanctuary (the peaceful ones at least) would not attack skykids, for they are happy and do not have a reason to be jealous.
It is when the crabs are in a place where they are unhappy (whether it is their living conditions are not to their liking, lack of light, living in dark water, etc.), they would lash out to skykids who are small creatures that can be pushed about. Since a skykid represents hope, and a crab represents a vice that is envy, the crab would become hostile to skykids.
That is what I think devs mean with why crabs are they way they are, and possibly why they 'walk a certain way' or imply that they have a 'crab mentality.'
Oooh interesting!!!
Bug off
It's as deep as the vastness of the observable universe
Oh no, it is evolving!
I love this
need to make one that's "nvm it's actually not that deep"
The depth may have begun shallow, but thankfully, I have a very big shovel
I have two
I’ve only used the second one once when we were discussing the colored auras around season symbols to figure out timeline and such before Ash clarified that they picked the colors to fit the seasons’ theme.
YOU ARE TOO LATE DAWN ELDER I AM NOW FORKLIFT CERTIFIED
slapping this on lore chat's wall
Obligatory wooly manta
SO TRUE !!!!!
Sky but good
I never knew eden has a castle
Well now you know
aggressively nods in agreement
Why doesn’t the darkness in eden or wasteland spread to the other realms?
The elders put up a massive gate, I guess that holds it in
I think it’s because they’re too affected by light. Isle, Prairie, Valley, and Vault are too isolated or too filled with light to really have a presence of darkness. Don’t forget Forest, the only reason there’s no krills is probably the rain or the lack of space
I think the darkness DOES spread from Eden outwards, which is why all the darkness plants regrow each night - the corruption seeps back in & darkness plants can only survive in certain spots, so they’re in the same places each time
Does Valley have darkness plants?
Ye
Oh yeah, in the Rhythm cave?
I think
Belonging maze
I'm pretty sure all realms have darkness plants
well it's usually because of seasonnal areas, and these don't exactly always feel related to lore (although you could argue with season of prophecy... but aside from that one)
Point taken. Well, apart from that one cave on the side of isle's temple the first time we see darkness plants are in the tower bells in prairie. I always got curious why there especificcaly
The game is still continuing seasons and not the story itself. I wondered why? I think each seasons actually show their stories in different places. Like Season of Performance saw their friend/brother rhythm (in the past season, we know who rhythm is) at the show. It’s interesting!!
Once again, every season and seasonal area has lore if you’re brave enough. I will argue this to my grave. For example, treasure reef close to proved the whole mantas -> darkstone refinery theory.
Pasted from sky gen chat! This is my first time talking to you all.
do you mean like showing different spirit stories throughout the timeline? (I can’t tell, sorry, I’m really tired and this is my best guess…) bc yeah! A lot of the seasons seem to be from the pov of different spirits, but they all relate back to the main story which I think is really cool!!
also, fun fact, performance and rhythm guide are heavily implied if not stated to be twins! :} I really like that detail
It my first time talking here too lol
seconding this because i went to the TLP area recently and it has a lot of lore
SO TRUE! I WAS THERE AND IT WAS A LOT MORE THAN I EXPECTED
Oh I don't know this theory can you explain it to me pls!!
extreme lore moment right there
Basically, it’s that darkstone (the blue crystals you light to charge stuff around the realms) were charged by manta light, which was extracted in refineries like the forest temple via… dubious methods. The second area of wasteland & treasure reef are also likely refineries, with murals in the latter depicting what went on there & the refinery symbol scattered around. Which would explain why mantas are imprisoned there as well and why there’s a darkstone mine
SO TRUE (I am still proud of this joke)
6 pillars, 8 statues
the return of the 6 elders and 8 skykids motif
the two broken statues! Had to edit these or discord wouldn’t let me post them
Not Isle or Vault
But yeah fun fact. The crack on the one on top mimics dusks statue really closely, although I don’t know who the worn down one would be. I guess, following that original logic, whoever’s statue is most eroded and destroyed???
Every season besides arguably Dreams and Gratitude has some contribution to Sky lore. You have to realize that Sky lore isn’t just about the King or Eden, but rather about every aspect of Sky. Strange items, light creatures, ancestor relations, and realm design also play a major role in the Sky lore.
did Discord not think this was sfw wjfhsjsdhnfdkm
YEAH 💔 looked too much like a naked person I guess. I will never understand
you didn't have Trish lit up so you are missing her glory
relatable I want to sit in the torch bowl
another fun fact which I will gently place here is that the post under lamplighters lantern has a memory lantern symbol on it, similar to the vault below the eye of Eden. I have a little idea that the Diamond in the lantern is a metaphor for the eye but can’t talk abt all the evidence rn
forest elder has a shattered diamond, both in their cutscene and in orbit
lamplighter (spirit in that area) is associated with forest

YEAH… I feel like the Eye also has visible cracks on it but I might be misremembering from fan art. Either way the jagged shape does make it look like it got broken to some extent…
the Eden diamond looks very jagged. it's hard to tell because the top of it is shaking rapidly, but you could see that as it rattling at its fractures
is there something i can watch/read that basically goes through the general story and lore of the game?
there are a couple lore docs but their veracity has been contested
Not really. A good alternative is to ask in here about any lore questions.
( @frigid tinsel I know. Especially the Theory Vault. Shudder.)
Does anyone know why it sounds like a flushing toilet when you respawn at home?
Idk lmao
low key serious question lol
Really :0
i've. never heard that??
Kek
Tho from what Ive observed yall dont consider whats in beta until releases live @.@
it's not we don't consider it but rather than we're literally not allowed to talk about any unreleased beta content in this channel. yes, I know there is some juicy lore in beta right now, but server rules state that all discussion of beta content remains in beta channels.
lorechat is not a beta channel, so I recommend editing or deleting your message.
Wanna hear a dumb theory about orbit and sigma from overwatch?
you don't have to ask for permission here
Oh okay, it's just a dumb theory btw XDD
You know how sigma says what is that melody? When he hears the universe sings? What if it was orbit cause when we go to orbit it's like orbit was singing, so! What if overwatch and sky are universe related-
Fun fact: skykids sing along to the background music in Orbit and while ascending, most noticeable if you spam honk, so you’re not too far off beat
So what if overwatch and sky are indeed connected-
Unlikely given they’re produced by different companies
True true but I was thinking of lore wise connected XDD
That only works with the original honk voice right ?
I'm pretty sure it works in other honks too
It’s the most clear with the default honk but it works with all honks
This is beautiful information thank you very much
Whenever I go to this part I spam honk friends who dont know always ask why Im honking YvY
I love spam honking with the song in Eden, makes me feel like I’m helping with the music. I did it today!
is there any lore reason why skids cant see how each other looks and just sees a grey figure
It is partly because it is a game mechanic.
By not knowing what a skykid looks like, the game prompts you to hold out your candle and become acquainted with the player.
Lorewise, the vague silhouette of the skykid character may imply them being unknown to the individual. This also ties into your own skykid becoming the grey silhouette may suggest them either forgetting who they look like, or becoming a stranger to themselves.
Frankly though, I get how if the player wants to see the skykids properly, they have to either light them up or be friends with them. But seeing grey/black/white (depending on the lighting) characters has its downsides.
Just a thought (perhaps a bit of wishful thinking), would it be cool for social areas would automatically light up skykids to brighten up the atmosphere. While out and about, the characters may become obscure again.
It was a mistake in leaking an item that has not yet been officially released in the game.
It may be best to spoiler tag it
bobbit-
Whoopsie

Cant edit may best to delete it pfft
It's fine, and appreciate it.
Looks like an upside down king symbol to me
hello fellow lore addict skykids. i have a few question. what are skykids actually? do we have parents? why do we exist?
Sure
Well i mean if you paid attention to the game you will know why we exist megabird created us and wanted us to save the stars and bring them back in the light ,skids are children of the light and i think the parent we can maybe have are the ancestors or megabird not sure about the ancestors
i never really paid attention to the lore except lately. what about isle? it seems left behind, so is wasteland and vault. what happened to those places? is it because the spirit already ded and no one take care of it anymore?
also if u don't mind do you know where i can see this megabird again?
and u say bring the stars back to the light, do you mean bring the spirit back to the light?
Isle got destroyed by the eden explosion ,wasteland became the battlefield of the war ,vault nothing really happened i think idk any vault theories and you can see megabird at the end of the credits in eden after you die and just watch the opening in yt and you will see
Eden explsoion theory is about the big crystal in eden exploding if you saw the last mural in prophecy caves the king starts wielding the four elements from yhe elders after passing all the trials ,after some timeskip the king used the elements on the big power diamond and exploded and i imagine all the spirits being there so they like died same with the elders and if your wondering why did the king used the elements on diamond proabably because they wanted ascension to go back to there home
The war theory thing is tricky to explain so i will find time to say it but for now have this so i will be right back
This is megabird
You can see it in orbit and in the end of the end credits, nobody knows what it really is but it's believed that they're a deity made of Light
woah it looks so beautiful. kinda hard to see the bird but it looks so beautiful
Hey so when you go to the catapult in wasteland there’s this statue next to it. Is this a dead ancestor? I assume they died during the war rather than the explosion since they don’t have a spirit to relive?
I like to think that since we need to hold out our flame to someone to see them, it kinda represents how we gotta show vulnerability to get to know folks !
Hello @granite mantle!
Welcome to #lore-discussion-spoilers! Remember, although spoilers about Eden and Office are allowed here, beta spoilers are not.
Baud the Lorechat greeter
Hi im new here! Just wondering if there is already a theory about the big diamond/crystal being the heart of the evil king? And the memory that we see with the elders being blown away are them trying to destroy it with the help of prince (as good boi as he is) but in the process, the elders got killed by the dark energy from the crystal but the prince was left alive and instead of destroying the crystal/heart he was consumed by it and its using his life/light to power the darkness or smth like that ..
Oh no im sorry is this consider a beta spoiler?
No, I was just reminding you. Don’t worry!
The first part I like a lot, about the Eden Diamond being a heart of the King. I’ve believed in this theory for months.
But I’m not sure about the “memory we see with the Elders”, is that a beta thing or something in the base game? Because I don’t remember it
I know there was an old Eden oob or whatever with blue Eden where you could see it. You mean that right?
It’s not a beta thing but it’s from either early Sky Live or Light Awaits, so it’s safe to discuss, though it’s canonicity is debatable.
Oh i remember now.
Oh, well I’m quite unfamiliar with early Sky
Well, I like your interpretation of that! Maybe the King wasn’t actually evil, he just got absorbed by it!
this statue confuses me bc the way they’re bowing makes it seem like they’re holding onto their light/dying… hmmm
I found the link to the blue Eden Elders oob: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Was this removed from the game or is it still there? Also HOW DOES ONE GET TO THERE TO BEGIN WITH? Sky OOBers are CRAZY I swear
The video: Cool Eden OOB with elders! Lore!
Me: Heehee, cute chibi
Oh wait that OOB is from LA huh
Also this just gave me a weird idea what if the Elders sealed the King inside the diamond or were directly responsible to whatever happened to them?
Hey Echo! I will try to answer these questions as much as I can with my knowledge. I’m gonna start with the first. Also sorry in advance, I have a tendency to overexplain things.
So the most common theory/assumption is that Megabird created us to help solve the darkness problem post disaster. [I can get into more explanations and ideas on what exactly Megabird is and why they’re called that (they don’t look much like a bird anymore, it’s a concept name that stuck) but I will stick to your questions for now.]
However, I will say that there’s not much evidence that Megabird created us directly that I can think of off the top of my head. Someone else, feel free to correct me if I’m forgetting something, but based on we see in game, skykids form when a soul star (what you see falling from Eden after you are reborn, & the little star spirits become when you relive them) plummets into the ground. The shell likely either forms while they are falling or from dust kicked up when they hit the ground. You can actually watch something similar to this happen in Ushering Stargazer’s memory, where a star hits the earth and becomes a kid!
Skykids in general seem to be made of a few main components:
- the hard outer shell, which most imagine as being made out of clay, but could also be rock, meteorites, or hardened wax. I personally think the material doesn’t really matter and could be a mixture of any one of these, it just depends on what explanation you think is the coolest. When a skykid loses all their light, this shell collects darkness and petrifies, freezing in place (you can see this in Eden.)
- The inner light, which shines through a hole in their chest & forehead. A combination of their flame and any winged light they collect to strengthen it.
- Their cape, a tangible manifestation of their WL, which is what allows them to fly.
- Any cosmetics, which appear to be projected from light, and are most likely as tangible as the cape.
Skykids don’t seem to have genetic parents, based on how they’re created, but the spirits are often referred to as “ancestors” when they are alive and skykids are often called “descendants”. This is most likely a symbolic relation more than anything, because of skykids inheriting the world that was left behind, but considering how much the spirits teach us, it’s safe to say that they’re the closest thing we have to parents. Because skykids seem to form from falling stars, any family structures they have would likely be adoptive in nature.
And now for the last question. Whether skykids are created with a purpose, or create it for themselves, mostly seems to be up to interpretation. I like to go with the second because I like the idea of them having agency, and because the intro voice we see at the beginning of the game pleads with us to help them — if we were created to want to do that in the first place, they wouldn’t need to.
Personally, I like to believe most skykids choose to help the world recover from darkness out of their own free will or sense of obligation. They don’t necessarily need a reason to exist, just like people, but they create that reason for themselves. Hope this helps!! Welcome to the channel, and sorry for my text wall 💛
this is really helpfull! thank you y'all for the help!! <33
It's theorized that the Eden Elder was the King/Prince. There are also theories that the true Eden Elder is Vault Elder, but they were forced to evacuate for obvious reasons.
ive heard theories (and personally believe) that the eden elder was a skykid who passed all the trials in prophecy cave. due to the murals on the walls
Ahhhh I see!
does anyone have any alternate interpretations on the prophecy murals?
no problem! we love talking about sky lore… as you can probably tell lol
also looking at the eden murals now, is it possible that eden is built upon the vault, or that the vault is actually underground/in a mountain
YEAH! Vault seems to be at least partially underneath the Eden mountain and is depicted in that way in murals.
I have a theory that the cave/tunnel vault is in was hollowed out or left behind by the Eden beam, and also that the eye of Eden is right on top of vault and was the original top floor, to add to it
i like the beam idea!! we see graves inside of the vault so maybe the vault is where survivors of the storm went? and the graves is for their family and friends
I think the skykid in the prophecy murals was actually Prince, I believe the child of King? He was one of the first skykids, and approached each of the ancestors(?) of each element, and learned them all. When he mastered them all, he was basically crowned Prince of the sky kingdom. I’m going off other things I heard before, feel free to correct me if anything feels wrong
Only two corrections I have is thst the prince and king are believed to be the same person in different times! Also I think you mean the prophets/trials of each element. From what I can tell it’s more testing personality traits than skills with manipulating them tho
nooo my little man he cannot be the evil corruption
yeah I can totally see the vault being a place for refugees to go!! there are oddly few graves inside it, I wonder if the graves we see are limited to really important people or something
it’s seen many die in the trials through the murals, so I think they were purposefully made to find a leader.
in my theory all skykids fall from the sky (it’s shown a child falls in the mural, and we fall in the opening sequence),, and I think that they put all children through the trials to try find the worthy king/prince. kind of like the story of the sword in the stone haha. since few people would willingly do the trails
if it helps you feel better there are a few theories about them not being evil actually . I also like those theories better, it feels more interesting and more like something thst Sky would DO to not really have a main big villain if that makes sense
Yea there’s the thought that the child in Ushering Stargazer’s spirit memories is the Chosen One depicted completing the Trials in the Cave of Prophecy murals — mainly due to the fact that Ushering Stargazer had been changed from Ushering Migrant upon the release of Season of Prophecy. So there is some connection between that child and the skykid who completed the Trials.
The theory continues that the Chosen One, upon completing the Trials, was revered. They may have been crowned prince and later became king or was bestowed as the Eden Elder.
Wait a child falls shown in the mural? Where @.@
The golden glowing child that is symbolized the same way as the skykid is depicted in the intro cave
it might not have been the mural actually, I think it’s one of the isle spirits. but the prophecy mural shows them all looking to the clouds near a similar rock so I feel like they link (I got so confused in my own theories whoops)
Its ushering stargazer where I remember a child actually falls (I presume to be alef/the prince)
yeah that’s the one I meant! Alasdair explained what I was trying to say above haha
Tbh its kinda farfetched that the prophets of the elements could create the trials just to find a leader
But at the same time theres no other explanation as to how the elements were taken from their original locations and placed into the trials
the power is in you, @torn eagle
....
It’s possible the Trials were looking for not just a leader but a leader who could control all four lights — blue, green, cyan, and orange
But then it seems as if control is granted when they gain the blessing at the end
Possibly that control is granted once you gain the element itself no need for trials (as shown in other prophecy murals)
Yea but the Trials are deadly. Ancestors failed in all four Trials — completing just one seems difficult, not to mention all four
yeahh,,, that’s where my theory falls down. I think the elements are stored in the trials until someone can conquer them all. the prophets are not the owners, more just dedicated to mastering their respective element and act as teachers to those partaking in trials?
as for why or how the trials exist though? haven’t thunk it up yet
Correct me if Im wrong btw but why does it seem the rain in hidden forest was created by element of water bestowed upon teth/forest elder
Don’t worry I have no idea as to how the elements got there either. The four murals on the way in depict where they might’ve been found but everything beyond that… no clue
Thinking about the mural showing orange light causing fires in Forest, perhaps the lights existed in the world but were wild and untamable until someone gained the attitudes bestowed by completing all four Trials.
Breathe in to calm yourself in the trial of water
Brush off the dust whenever you fall or trip in the trial of earth
Balance, to practice balancing yourself in the trial of air
Heart pound, to convince yourself to brave amidst the darkness
Smth like that? XD
Oooo that definitely adds to the first apocalypse theory…
Also regarding the elements... Is it general consensus how the world of sky was created?
or maybe they gain knowledge through the winged light you collect at the end? since they’re essentially the souls of a dead skykid.
or the winged light is just a representation of the element for us
haha I don’t know I’m just brainstorming
Don’t... please don’t...
We barely know enough already
Have I stepped on a landmine @.@
Curiosity intensifies
The Sky would could just exist... just cos
I’d guess kinda like ours. Like the world just formed, then Megabird and light in general slowly developed over time,
In short you don't wanna delve in it XD
But why @.@
alasdair created the world and doesn’t want us to know…
Either you’re a creationist or you believe in the Big Bang
If I created the world I would be damn sure to maintain more control over it as well as know more about it
Judgin by what you do to your characters that is not very comforting
i think it was kind of like a utopia, until something upset the balance (due to what is said in one of the opening sequences about like “but they didn’t listen…” or something)
which then introduced darkness as a warning of sorts
Character and plot is different from worldbuilding
My guess is that the elements were the catalyst of the creation of the world of sky
Element of water created the primordial waters (that could hurt us as shown in the trial of water, and in extension rain in forest)
Earth created the land
Air created the wind and floating islands
Fire created life amd clouds (which could actually explain why clouds could recharge our light)
Just a guess thats been out there
Whats missing here is red and purple light/element from enchantment, (orange-fire, green-earth, cyan-air, blue-water)
Wait..do Quest givers/Season Guides ascend like their friends? If not, that's really sad:(
The questgiver from flight ascended iirc !
I’m not too clued up on enchantment season BUT, isn’t it possible those are representing of potions rather than the elements themselves
or potions are crafted using the element magic, and can be mixed
Then I'm calm, as long as Performance Guide is not separated from his team, me calm :3
it's possible red and purple lights did not exist back then
With the spirits in harmony hall staying around after the season ends, it's possible spirits that ascended can come back down to hang out whenever :]
Iirc colored lights are a result of alchemy
Imagine them all been stuck on earth away from their beloved friends..
hey all! could someone link me to the sky lore gdoc? thanks
nvm, found it! gonna reply to it in case anyone else needs the links
Theyre not "basic" elements perhaps?
For red light anyone has a sure cut answer as to what that represents?
red light is only really seen on dark creatures (krill light, those stones in eden, big monster guy in abyss) so I feel like it’s inherently evil whatever it is
It is said that it is seen where darkness thrives, thats a point
Darkness is just lack of light.
Even skykids get dark when they run out of energy. Manta/spirits grow dark plants on their bodies too. Adding energy reverses this right?
Also aren’t red crystals just blue crystals (the stuff that moves things) but modified to actively suck energy?
hmm I do agree with all this actually!
so the darkness drains you because it’s trying to revert back to the light
Just imagining that the lights we see in enchantment are some artificial mixture of both. Like automated drones that are designed to help in specific ways.
Also Ali, didn’t even think of that, maybe the krills just need a lot of energy to become light again. Krill genuinely want hugs confirm?
the Enchantment hint about where to find colored light states it presents "where darkness prevails." you find red light either weaving through the shipwreck in crabfields or behind the Forgotten Ark by Scarecrow Farmer's failed farm. with it, Nodding Muralist was able to unveil murals on the Ark, murals they seem to have painted beforehand as depicted in their spirit memories. most murals in Sky have light-based paints.
red in general is most prominent with entities of darkness, like when krill spots light or corrupted darkness. red indicates danger. it's possible darkness is not inherently evil but rather antagonistic. it seems evil to us since we are on the side of light and darkness consumes light, but I don't think Sky is going for a good vs. evil theme but rather noting how light & darkness are out of balance.
going by what Nodding Muralist was able to do with red light – unveil murals – I think red light allows the user some degree of control over darkness. there is a lot of darkness plaguing the Wasteland. there are also no murals aside from the ones in and around the Ark. darkness consumes light, but given we gain light by burning darkness plants and the leviathan ultimately spat up all the light creatures it had consumed, darkness may not delete light but rather hold and preserve it. it may convert it to another form, yet the amount of light consumed remains.
so the darkness in Wasteland could've concealed the murals of the Ark, yet Muralist was able to bring them back to visibility by utilizing red light to reverse darkness erasing the murals.
there's a spot in Eden where I think this happened – the pipe room with the crabs in it. the wall has a huge surface where a mural could've been, however it is covered in shards of corrupted darkstone. I think those shards sucked up whatever mural could've been there. I just a get a strong sense of loss in that room.
I have been enlightened
yeah i mean we can summon light through our candles so the enchantment orbs are probably an advanced version of that
and they probably do, aw bless them. it would make sense to the theory that krills are creatures who have had the light sucked out of them. and they track and attack skykids for their light
ohhh I like the mural darkstone idea!! it makes a lot of sense
This has been going on in my mind too
The difference between red and blue crystals
Blue crystals passively store light in them through infusion
Red crystals actively drain light from their surroundings
The red crystal is located where the beam of light is... In the switch trailer and prophecy murals it was shown that the beam of light was there even before the red diamond was installed
Going by this train of thought could it be that the reason the red diamond is in eden is to absorb light from the light beam to gain energy?
Also, wow if the light is the sprits’ version of a skykid’s candle, it would make sense for it to be in areas where darkness prevails. They’re trying to reverse it
Tho if I remember correctly tho its heavily implied that colored lights are a product of alchemy? Hm
I think the ancestor spirits’ version of skykids’ flame are their soul sparkle you can see inside their humanoid forms. Granted, skykids also have a soul sparkle, but spirits are dead ancestors
I thought the red diamond was initially a blue diamond.
We kind of see this with krill who work the same way as the vault: the crystal is charged and creates a beam of light, skykids get underneath it, something happens after ~5sec (in this case the krill crystal turns red and they get…huggy :3)
that could still be true. i imagine a degree of light is needed for alchemy? especially if it’s to make the potions we have in game (recharge potions, or even the krill defence spell could use the red light to deflect the krill)
Theres a side where krills are corrupted light creatures while theres a side thay krills are war machines
Granted we don’t know anything about what the Eden diamond could’ve been for, but iirc one of the concept art pieces for the animated project shows a blue diamond over Eden. Give me a moment
You’re right, and it is a dark plant too, implying that it was extinguished.
Maybe the light is a kind of really advanced spell? We do have trail spells and the animation for casting them is similar to the one used by the spirits when manipulating colored light
I think theres three... idk... in sky
Carpentery - the shop area for temporary props
Herbology - the cauldron with bubbling concotion, where potions are sold
And alchemy - boat with different colored lights where spells are sold
All found in forgotten ark
I was wrong — it doesn’t show a blue diamond but damn look at Eden
Eden before the storm @.@
I dont think thats eden before the storm or something
The animation project very likely might be before Eden calamity so yea before the Storm
Man that looks cool. What if those blue cracks are pathways with people delivering crystals
ahahha yeah I’m so divided on which i think. both are such good ideas
like they make such mechanical noises and have so little lifelike form (no eyes/ears/noses, just a sensor)
but I do think that the corruption idea is also neat (and abyss points towards it)
I can't wait for the sky animation to arrive !
Extension to this train of thought... Was the energy being stored in red diamond for the castle to go up into orbit? 🤔 A bit farfetched
What sky animation
Why not both?
We engineer plants all the time, maybe spirits did it to living manta.
“Corruption by design(tm)”
Theres a theory that mixes both
Its an extension of the experiment in abyss facility theory
In an interview, TGC founder Jenova Chen stated that krill are corrupted, but we don’t know they were beforehand. The prevailing theory is that they are corrupted light creatures
Noted
Also is the thing regarding "From darkness, light is born" quote in thatskyshop considered lore related? 🤔
Side note to this is thwt Sky seems to use a lot of color association in their designs, and red is a color most people are used to meaning danger in games, so could explain it
In Light Awaits, Eden used to be blue
because I like to think that the prince/king ordered for light to be extracted, so he can gain power (we can fly longer when we have more winged lights so light = strength)
which in turn lead to the corruption of such light sources.
-dark plants are dead plants (they’re stone-like, we turn to stone when we die)
-maybe krill are an amalgamation of drained light creatures?
the wasteland was home to light draining plants (like seen in abyss) so that’s why it’s overrun with krill, and the spirits there posses armour and weapons
and I liked the idea of diamonds being modified to drain light
soo all of this eventually leads to the storm at eden
pspspsps @keen shore
I’m going to go now but please please offer any counter arguments to my theory since I’m building it up still!!
cya
Salem is big on the “corrupted dark creature are the amalgations of dead drained light creature corpses” theory
YEAHHHH
was trying to figure out what you tagged me for
The king extracted light to make power diamonds for there technology to expand anyways cya too
Aaaaaa
Quieren ver al príncipe alef
I really like the idea that krills happen when you pile a bunch of drained manta corpses on top of each other and they all just merge and skeletonize together. It’s horrifying and I love it
From Zhao’s concepts
And also yeah this theory is possible
Omg but está sujeta a cambios fututo
Some more concept princes
That kinda doesnt make any sense but you can have your theories
Wow, rude
Sry if i sounded rude
yeah, no kidding… why wouldn’t it make sense?
It doesnt make sense for me but you can explain your theory so i can understand it
thing is, the prince/king/Eden Elder/however you want to regard them is very not present in the game. yet the devs have said that the king/prince is in the game, in fact has a very present effect on Sky's story, yet "not in the way you think." so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Wooo but maybe 🤔 go change maybe
But I now is have king
En varios jeroglíficos muestra alguien más así hubo uno los dibujos ahí había uno
you want to see what the prince looks like now?
tú quieres ver que el principe parece a actualmente?
oh you mean the murals?
Si en el juego muchos mirales si hay un príncipe
Kamilico made this compilation of concept art and in-game stuff that may depict the prince and/or king
if Chosen One is the prince, then the Cave of Prophecies depicts them as the glowing skychild.
(images taken from Salem's mural masterlist).
Refineries drain mantas of their light for darkstone. Drained manta corpses are piled on top of each other to be disposed of. The remaining light in the manta corpses tries to find each other to recharge, but due to how light works in Sky, the souls and bodies merge together as well, creating krill.
I will say that it’s more of a headcanon than a thought out theory, but there’s no reason to be rude about it — it makes just as much sense as any other interpretation and plays into krill being horrifying, which is why I like it.
Idk about dried manta husks
But there are indeed wastes that sre left after light extraction
Im thinking it may be the source of darkwater
Amo mucho el lore de sky
Yeah! I think that’s where the goop in wasteland that comes out of the pipes comes from! Maybe it seeped into the water, would make sense
we don't really know the timeline of when Chosen One > prince > king, but that's a common assumption that they are all the same person but at different points in their life.
the king more likely resembles the turrets/statues you see throughout the Golden Wasteland. some think the king transformed into that huge being, others think the turrets/statues are propaganda and not what the king actually looked like, then there's the thought that the king remained as small as a skykid but had a huge mech suit, which the turrets/statues depict
Si pero el príncipe alef es el rey ya que subió al trono
Am I seeing things or is this convo happening in 2 languages at the same time
I can read some Spanish but not write it as well
Im leaning towards the idea that alef along with the elders were morphed and changed because of the power of the elements
Alefs change was drastic because he isnt the same race as the elders
Como todo típico en la realeza
i was thinking about this! the diamonds must hold some value because it’s what the pirates in abyss are after!! whether that’s to sell or for their own uses
Just had a thought... What if Alef/Resh name transition is a mark between the king still connecting with megabird through light (alef) and him being disconnected with megabird embracing darkness (resh)
Exacto
Wait for me! I’ve thought that the Prophecy murals were about us, the Skykids
The diamonds (darkstone or power diamonds) are the main storage device for energy during the darkstone era, they are literally batteries
After all, the theme that plays when we complete the trials is “fulfillment”, implying that is completing trials has fulfilled the prophecy
I just have the silly thought that the power diamonds could store light and with ancestors being in part light, they could crack open a diamond and suck out the light for nourishment like cracking an egg and slurping up the yolk
Unrelated: Quotes in sky say that we should return the ancestors to the stars, or back to the light, doesnt this only happen when we ascend them? We literally see them in orbit if we have ascended them hence back in the stars 🤔
I think we see the ancestor spirits ascending over and over again each time we do Eden is a gameplay thing – we see the success of saving the spirits.
unless you want to get into time loop theory which I reject wholeheartedly don't get me started.
I do think they’re all the same, the chosen one becomes prince, who then becomes corrupt by his power.
with the king being pictured as alot larger than the prince, I like to think that he builds himself an armour/suit
Just remembered that in the concepts the ancestors were blue in color because theyre disconnected from megabird and they change to a different color after we spend ac on them
And we only see them in orbit after we spend ac on them.. and orbit is a place among the stars, ne? Or is my brain just speaking gibberish because its almost 2 am
haha one of my darker theories is that the king became so corrupt that he started killing sky kids, snapping their necks and slurping the spirits
What zero fluff fics do for a Sky fan
what can I say, I am a lover of angst
(and do plan to make angsty sky music videos haha)
so up to this point, I start getting into the debate or what's true in-universe vs. what's a game mechanic. I think ascended spirits turn gold to signify they're reunited with the Light. ascended candles may just be a gameplay mechanic but shows the ame effect.
oh so THATS why the abyss crew wanted them
So am I, but the King doing excessive violence really doesn’t fit with Sky
don’t you have an oc that does this too
tbf I also love angst and I have split a skykid in half in fic (they got better) but that hit me with such whiplash I–
salem
why would it not?
or is it just too dark for a game aimed at all ages haha
Well we get ascended candles by returning the light of the fallen... And more in beta still related to light
The "salem" at the end got me
my corrupted skykids do suck out light but only Nanif was the one that was regularly breaking open their shells but they didn't eat souls.
Vampire skid @.@
omg this would make a great concept haha
maybe there’d be energy vampires like what we do in the shadows, bore the souls out of kids haha
I mean, is there a reason for such excessive violence? Or is it just because? At the end of the day, you do you
"IT WAS NOT BY MY HAND THAT I AM ONCE AGAIN GIVEN SHELL, I WAS CALLED HERE BY ANCESTORS WHO WISH TO PAY ME TRIBUTE"
my corrupted skykids have corrupted darkstone embedded in their shells, which draws out their light and warps their minds, so they start going after the light inside other skykids. they're like small intelligent krills.
Exposed
Add this with ult rewards from beta... Yknow if you know 💀
I know but that's not allowed here 💀
Vampiric zombie skids
One possible theory is that the elders (the king included) being villains during development were not fitting to the story being told.
Ergo, they were more aligned with anti-heroes, characters that have done wrong in the past and are not the protagonist of the story.
That is, if the lore of sky would follow the traditional roles of story telling today.
While I can see the King being aggressive, being against the skykids in particular would not make sense based on the evidence we have so far. Skykids are positive characters that only darkness would oppose, had the king being lost to the darkness would paint a hopeless scene that a major character may not fit in with.
biting maiming
I do have writing ideas of Sky children with deformed light cores, one of them has it in place of their right eye, when it’s not in the right place it can cause complications
nanif arc
The King's Spear
my reasoning is that (to me) the king is hungry for light, and skykids would be a source for that (seemingly since we spawn from the sky haha)
"Within my eye, my light, unimaginable power"
there's a tumblr post, hold on
lets be real there's a lot of those that fit the criteria
Tumblr essays hit different
I think krii made the one I'm thinking of but I'm not sure
Especially character analysis, I miss these
Before knowing about the existence of Skycord and Lorechat I tried looking up the lore on Google and it was all Tumblr posts
ah I see! I’ve never really taken into account the overall message of the game when theorising haha
to me he was trying to do good for skykids by advancing the technology, but pushed it too far causing an imbalance of light/dark
Gawd DARN SHAWTY this is good
I LOVE THAT THANK YOU
spearxwind makes some dope as hell Resh art
Take this too: https://spearxwind.tumblr.com/post/667960266483515392/
if I had any idea how to use tumblr I’d follow them ahah
The game seems to have subtle ties to real life mythologies, namely Greek.
When looking at the King, I can imagine the tale of Prometheus.
A Titan that tricked the gods and helped the mortals, and as punishment, he was left bound at the top of a mountain where beasts would torment him every day, for the rest of time.
As well as King Sisyphus, who cheated death, and was punish with rolling a boulder up a hill for an eternity.
Both are people that defied the gods for the benefit of themselves or others, and both have been punished by trapping them in a cycle of torment with no end in sight.
That second comic, wow! XD XD XD
oh that’s really interesting to think about
although leads you to think what is the will of the sky god ahah
Sky has the theme about love, friendship, healing, and community. at the same time, Sky is dark upon realizing that this is a post-post-apocolyptic world due to a disaster that drove the ancestors to extinction.
One theme that TGC seems to hammer home towards is the Collective Journey story structure.
i think of the skykids as like an army, or we are created/summoned with the purpose of ending the storm, but then we learn its impossible so the focus is to recover the statues in eden (and become one of the statues in doing so) making it an endless cycle essentially
anybody have art of skykid anatomy? or is the lore too vague to determine how skykids work
That, my dear friend, is the biggest question on every skykid's minds.
i guess it can be thought of as a light form and a stone form binded together? but other than that I am lost
My time has come.
My Working Theory on the Composition of a Skykid
–clothing, hair, masks & other cosmetics made of light.
–a humanoid physical shell made of some magic-induced earthen material (i.e. clay, stone, ash, charcoal, meteorite) that has a hole in the chest and eyes.
–this hollow shell is full of light, such as winged light and neutral light.
–their cape, a manifestation of winged light.
–their flame, manifesting as the light in the hole in their chest and held outside their bodies via a red candle.
–their soul, appearing as a blue sparkle.
oh hello alasdair
their spidey senses alerted them that somebody was talking about skykid anatomy
well how about we go find a skykid and find out the easy way-
shoutout to these fellas they look a bit goofy
Where did you find this?
Nevermind, found it.
"no-hawk"
That could be called a Bald eagle then XD
Little head canon that sky kids have problems counting time and how fast it pases the older they become. Also that's why dark plants grow so fast and server merge looks like it skipped time
it’s all the same guy who is slowly growing their hair out and getting more powerful (hence the extra triangles)
if extra triangle on the hawk means more power how strong is tsadi
Bigger question, how fast is The Valley Elders?
they ARE the triangle you fool /hj
They are going real fast, think Sonic fast, but not exactly that fast
krii I just realeasied you meant the triangles on the hair… I was thinking about the ones in the shawl. Totally accepted for a second thwt dusk was also covered in triangles
Wasteland is the personification of a triangle, you can't make more triangle than this.
correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure there’s no moon in the night sky at home
SO TRUE
there’s one in the little prince but no where else which is kinda interesting considering it’s quite common for planets to have at least one
There’s one visible above the forgotten ark!
Oh! Interesting!
I think there’s one visible in the krill area of Eden as well, but not sure
That makes me wonder if the different realms are all across different planets and such. I was mostly thinking it was like a fast travel situation
but i guess you do fly in between them, maybe there’s multiple moons
I wonder where home might be
the credits sequence shows that there are several planets outside of the sky kingdom's orbit, but the kingdom itself is obstructed by the light flowing into it so we don't get a good view of what it looks like. there could be several moons! i like that idea.
Who exactly are the king and the prince? I don’t see them in sky
Is there lore for Krill? I remember people saying that they weren't mechanical even though they sound like it, but I'd love to read more on them.
@brisk ginkgo this was said about krills!
They’re mysterious figures that are mentioned in murals, concept art, and symbols in the game. They held great power, but caused the downfall of the Sky kingdom.
